Chapter 8: First Battle

Six Werewolves burst through the opening, charging at the invaders with excitement for new members and husbands to be gained. The group seeing that the werewolves are aware of them as they are closing in on them, Edward shouts, "Defensive Stance!", the four adventurers draw out they're weapons and put their backs together while Mary just stood there watching the werewolves surround them.

"Well, well…look what we have here? Some promising new pack members have joined us today." One of the werewolves spoke out while inspecting the group for she seems the be the alpha of this group. The other wolves snicker and giggled for they too were examining the groups or more specifically the guys.

"Carla get in here with us! NOW!", Sarah yells but Mary was too busy eyeing every single werewolf here with some of them now looking back at her.

"See someone you like Carla? Don't be shy, we don't bite…. much.", another wolf said with some of them striking sexy poses to Mary. Mary was unphased by this and continue eyeing them until she returns her gaze back at the supposed leader.

"Nah, I find you all boring and weak.", Mary said disappointingly which causes some of the posing wolves to abruptly stop at Mary's statement. Mary's group along with some of the werewolves were dumbstruck at Mary's blunt words. A few of the wolves started to growl at Mary for calling them weak, completely focused on her.

The pack leader speaks up, "I'm sorry but can you repeat what you just said, I think I've missed understood you." A clear annoyed expression on her face which made Mary happier to obliged at her request.

"I said, is that I find you all to be very boring and pathetically weak. Are you losing your hearing you old mutt?" Mary got a few gasps and some even louder growls at her as the whole surrounding pack were now getting angry.

"Carla, are you seriously trying to piss them all off?", Mark trying to question her over a wave of deafening growls and snarls. Mary wasn't done through as she speaks, "You're all a bunch of dumb mutts, not even worth my time!"

"Oh, fuck you BITCH!" one of the wolves charges behind her and leaps into the air.

"Carla, look out!", Sarah shouts. Mary not turning around to face the mid-air werewolf, performs a blind spin kick and nails the wolf in the ribs. The force of the kick throws the wolf back towards the others, hitting and rolling off the ground until stopping at one of their feet. The four adventurers are speechless at "Carla's" move but the wolves were now furious even the pack leader speaks up, "Well now, your quite feisty. I'll have fun dominating you in front of your friends." She glances at the four, flashing a smile at them.

Mary replies sadistically, "Ha ha ha, you stupid dog didn't you hear what I just said or are you so old that you need to be put down?"

The pack leader's smile fades and replace with a frown, "I think I'll beat you up real good then you'll see I'm no mere dog but a powerful wolf! You'll call me Anna, your pack leader once I personally changed you" Anna charges Mary on all fours while Mary simply walks towards her. Not making the same mistake one of her packmates made, Anna gets up close to Mary and starts standing on her legs and unleashes a barrages of claw swipes at her target. Mary evades all of her attacks without breaking eye contact with Anna's eyes that showed Anna's anger. Both Mary's party and Anna's pack stood there watching attentively at the duel.

"Your so slow and you're the alpha? Maybe that's why your pack is only going after sheep and nothing else if your all so weak.", Mary taunts. Anna starts losing her nerves and her bestial side of her starts to surface as her attacks intensify and she starts snarling. Mary continue to evades Anna swipes but she has better things to do so she starts to go on the offensive. Anna throws another right swipe but before it could hit Mary, Mary grabs her wrist with her left-hand and twists it causing Anna to whelp at the sudden pain. There was also another feeling that Anna felt and it was how cold Carla was. The pain created an opening for Mary to throw her own punch that landed on Anna's nose making her to stumble back to where Mary wanted to perfect distance for her follow up combo. Anna quickly recovers just in time to see Mary's entire length of her foot impacting in the middle of her gut. The end result of that kick is Anna being thrown back to her original spot while the other wolves were flabbergasted that their leader was being made a fool by a mere human who isn't a hero.

"HAHAHA! Now do you all see, that you all are nothing compare to me and I'm not even breaking a sweat here." Mary shouts for all to hear her. The wolves in response are no longer holding back as two of them charge at Mary's flanks, one running over to Anna, and the last two start circle the adventurers but still keeping a watchful eye on Mary. "Two against one now? Well, I guess I should start taking this seriously then."

Mary's right hand goes down and grips her mace and brings it up. The mace is a simple design; the handle is covered up in a brown leather, the total length is that of Mary's arm, and the top is big and round as a person's head. The two wolves leap up in the air at the same time to pounce on Mary but she dashes forward out of the area they about to landed. Mary quickly turns around and kicks a small rock towards the left wolf who just landed and impacts her right shoulder. Whelping at the pain with her partner runs toward Mary to tear her apart but Mary zig zags to evade her. Mary suddenly charges forward at the assailant and lands a left punch on her gut knocking the wind out of her. Mary speeding slide around her bring down her mace on and forcefully impacting her mid-section spine. A slightly sound of cracking followed by the receiver scream in pain that completely got everyone's attention. The severely injured wolf lays on the ground trying to compress where the mace hit her spine but to no avail.

The one that got hit by the rock earlier launches towards Mary, "You'll pay for that Bitch!" Mary smiles at the reckless werewolf as she turns around to run towards the flying wolf then dives underneath her and finally throws her mace at her as she lands. The werewolf turns around to face Mary but instead gets hit head on by Mary's mace making a cracking sound and falls to the ground. Mary gets back up and slowly walks to her mace lying next to the down werewolf.

Just before she can grab it, Anna tries to tackles Mary from the side which she just barrel rolls forward to avoid the tackle. Anna was clearly pissed and speaks in a threaten way, "If you were a male, I'll rape you to death Carla."

Mary just smirks and replies, "Good thing I'm a female then, for I-', the one wolf that ran over to Anna when she was temporally down launches a surprise attack behind her. Mary does a backward flip at the last second propelling herself over the silent aggressor that grab air in her place. Mary quickly dashes forward to the sneaky werewolf once she lands and lands a knee strike to her face. The wolf stumbles back while Anna rockets towards Mary but Mary goes around the now nose bleeding werewolf and use her as a meat shield. Mary forces her down to her knees while grabbing and pulling her arms back. The bleeding werewolf tries to break free but this Carla person was unbelievable strong for she can't get her arms free from Carla's freezing grip.

Anna snarls, "You despicable whore! Let Lily go NOW!" The two werewolves circling the adventurers suddenly stop and focus entirely on what Mary was doing. The adventurers also can't help but look at what's happening too.

"Why should I do that? I just wanted to get closer to Lily here and smell her fear that she is radiating." Mary takes a deep whiff and smiles sinisterly, "It smells delightful." The werewolf starts to feel a little wet around her kneecaps. Mary looks down then laughs loudly saying, "HA HA HA! Looks like someone got so scared they pissed themselves. HA HA HA!" Lily whimpers for the first time in her life as she feels fear.

"Why are you doing this? We've done nothing to you?" Anna angerly yells. Mary quickly becomes quiet and inhales deeply.

For the moments of silent between Anna and Mary felt like an eternity for Lily trapped in the middle. Mary is the first one to break the silence, "You know what I absolute despise about you Mamonos? Is that your method of killing someone is far more horrible than what your kind did under the previous Demon Lords."

Anna retorts, "We are nothing like that anymore! We don't go around killing people except when we are defending ourselves or our husbands!"

Mary replies with her voice becoming more anger, "Oh, but you do and you have no idea the damages your kind does and I don't mean just werewolves but every last one of you are commuting it every day. You'll are literally and figuratively fucking mankind into extinction with no signs of stopping your genocide."

"I'm telling you WE DO NOT KILL, even our husbands inside are alive and well. They are happy with no suffering of any kind and whatever the Order have said about us is wrong? Also, the Demon Lord is finding a way to save your race and mine."

"What if she doesn't find a way or if she does but there are no more people left, then what? As for the Order they say many things except for the one thing they haven't cover which is the one I'm talking about"

Anna curiously asks, "And that is?"

"The murder of the human soul."

"What?" Anna is dumbfounded at Mary's answer. "You can't be serious. We can't do any of that unless your some kind of powerful spellcaster like a Succubus or Baphomet."

"Phhf, your ignorance is truly astounding then again I'm talking to a bunch of mindless, foolish, barbaric, ANIMALS!" Mary now shouting and unknowably tightening her grip on Lily who start screams in pain. "So, let me tell you of what I have seen and dealt with whenever your kind strikes. You kidnap men away from their families, children growing up without their fathers and the actual wives missing their true love. You distort and brainwash them until they are nothing more than mindless breeding bulls with their free will is all but gone. When it comes to women it's even worse for they are forcible changed into lust crazy monstrosities and any personality they once had is completely gone. As for children, you all mercilessly take away their future while brainwashing them to be like you. Your all nothing more than tyrants to humanity." Mary takes a breath from her rant which gives time for Anna to speak.

"So what Carla, do we all need to die or something?"

Mary in no hesitation replies, "YES!" with that said, she releases her grip on Lily's wrist and in one fluid motion she put her hands around Lily's head and twists. A loud crackling sound could be heard follow by Anna screaming 'NO'. Lily's body falls forward to the ground, Anna charges towards Mary, the two werewolves attack the adventurers and the crippled werewolf crawls to the unconsciousness werewolf Mary hit with her mace earlier.

Mary runs towards Anna shouting, "Your destruction is our salvation!"

"You can die first bitch!" Anna shouts back now a few feet away from Mary enters her combat stance as Mary launches her attack. Mary throws a right jab, Anna blocks it and responds with a right leg kick. Mary jumps back but quickly jumps back in once the kick passes, she does her own right leg kick. Anna catches it however Mary bend her right leg in and bring her body closer to Anna and throws a fast-left hook. The hook connects to the side of Anna's head which makes her shove Mary away from her. Mary skids a few feet away but quickly gets back in Anna's personal space and throws a few punches at her head. Anna blocks them but leaves her lower torso vulnerable which Mary takes advantages of. She throws a heavy right punch to her gut that Anna doesn't see coming, Mary makes contacts and Anna slightly drops her guard around her head. Anna surprise from the amount of pain she receive from a non-hero who shouldn't be able to hurt her this much. In the amidst of her confusion, Mary throws another successful left-hook to Anna's head. Anna backs away with a serious question in her mind.

"How are you this powerful when you're not even a hero?" Anna asks.

"I told you from the start, didn't I? Your all weak pathetic dogs before me and that includes you. And now you are all going to die." Mary resume her attack. She dashes forward with her right arm pulled back ready to slug her again, in response Anna steps back out of Mary's range. Anna ducks and weaves waiting for an opportunity to counter Mary but Mary's swift strikes left none. Anna gets ready to rush around Mary but suddenly a sense of dread froze her in place that left her exposed. Mary throws a punch right in the middle of Anna's chest and the force of it knocks the wind out of her. Anna having trouble breathing backs away and looks up to Mary's face and sees something that makes her breathing even harder. Mary's eyes somehow turn from blue to light purple that was faintly glowing and the sense of dread intensify greatly. She quickly backs away from Mary until she steps on a round shape rock and slips on it. Anna lands on her back and before she can even try to pick herself up, Mary places her right foot in the middle of Anna's ribcage.

"Ugh!" Anna feeling the pressure from Mary's foot on her continues to make her have trouble breathing and her resistant starts to faded away.

"Ha ha! I don't know if you're really the alpha of this pack or you're a lowly omega who thinks too highly of herself?" Mary taunts while Anna couldn't properly snarl at her berating statement.

"Here I thought that- "AHHH", Mary gets interrupted by a yell that she and Anna turn to see a werewolf has fallen to one of the adventures. Mary turns back to Anna and gives her a smug look to which Anna shows a mixture of anger and loss. "This is what happens when you pick a fight with us, that sooner or later you'll get yourselves killed." Mary quickly looks and sees Sarah let loose an arrow that enter the defeated werewolf's head.

"Well looks like this fight is now over and you've lost." Mary keeps her foot on Anna and quickly glances over to the crippled werewolf who is next to the one wolf she nailed in head with her mace earlier.

Adventurers' POV

A few moments back, "So what Carla, do we all need to die or something?"

"YES!"

The four adventurers listen to the back and forth banter between Carla and the werewolf called Anna until they witness Carla snapping the neck of the one werewolf under her grip. After that, the leader of the pack runs screaming towards Carla until they hear the growls of the two werewolves right next to them and see they are going to fight these two. The one on the left charge at Mark and Edward while the right one tried to get through Frank who is currently protecting Sarah.

Edward shouts, "I got your back Mark!" Edward having both hands on his spear waiting for an opportunity to attack while Mark parries the attacking werewolf. Sarah currently in the worst possible spot for an archer is cowering behind both Frank and Edward unable to use her bow to assist.

Mark yells, "Looks like Carla really have pissed them off because I'm having trouble holding this one off!"

The attacking werewolf responds to Mark's comment, "Once our leader takes care of your murderous friend, I'm going to thoroughly punish you. Mark, was it? You can call me Sunshine."

Mark gulps also blocking another swipe from Sunshine, meanwhile on the other side Frank has entered a stalemate with his attacker. Every time he blocks an attack, he retaliates but ends up missing his opponent and repeat. Then she speaks, "Well since we are giving out our names, my name is Midnight. What's yours big boy?" Frank maintains his stance and doesn't answer her. "Oh, a silent type! I enjoy breaking them into screaming moans of pleasure when I'm done." Frank just rolls his eyes.

Sarah yells, "What's the plan guys?" She looks back and forth at the two werewolves for a chance to do something.

Silence between the four besides the sound of claws scratching metal, Edward came up with an idea, he turns towards Sarah and whispers into her ear. Then he quickly runs outside the group and around Sunshine until he was behind her posing to strike. Sunshine turns to her side while still keeping her defensive stance on Mark. Edward shouts, "Now!" Sarah quickly puts herself where Mark wasn't in the way as she has an arrow drawn and ready to let loose. Sunshine finding herself surrounded while Midnight struggles getting past Frank. Edward and Mark both charge at her while Sarah sent her arrow flying. Hearing her bow string vibrate, Sunshine turns towards Sarah to dodge her arrow but doesn't see it anywhere only to see Sarah grabbing another arrow from her quiver. "Hugh/Rng!" Edward and Mark both swing both their swords horizontal which Sunshine backs up until Sarah's missing arrow lands straight down on Sunshine on her right shoulder. Sunshine winces in pain, stunned as well surprise that left her exposed. Sarah already have her arrow ready to go, let loose another one which hit Sunshine in the back of her heart. She fells to her knees and exhales one last time before she falls face first into the dirt.

Midnight looking past Frank to see Sunshine has fallen to one of Sarah's arrows, she lets out a deep rage fill growl follow by a fury of swipes at Frank causing him to step back. Mark and Edward form up with Frank to make a line while Sarah nearby waits to strike.

"You know what? I think I'll just kill you all for all the death you've cause to my pack!" The werewolf taking swipes at all three shields in front of her when suddenly Edward charges past Midnight but to stop quickly to deliver a horizontal swing at her. Just as Midnight gets out of its way, Mark charges at her too with his shield hitting her side causing her to loss some balance. Finally, Frank rushes with his sword out which Midnight didn't have time to reposition herself as he pierces into her stomach. She screams in pain and falls to the ground placing both her paws on the gaping wound. She looks up and sees Sarah approaching her then Midnight says, "Go on, do it! Just finish me already!" Tears begin to leave her eyes as Sarah nods to her request and quickly readies an arrow. Sarah let it go and mercifully put down the dying werewolf. All four adventures grouped back up and look back Mary who had her foot on the alpha werewolf chest while being smug.

Gin's POV

Few moments back again, "So what Carla, do we all need to die or something?"

"YES!"

The injured werewolf Gin hears her aggressor answering her pack leader's question with no moment of pause then sees her friend Lily gets her neck snap by said woman. Gin shock by Carla's action of murdering Lily when she was defenseless and now her pack leader visibly enraged by this, goes after Carla. Gin looks over to see Sunshine and Midnight attacking the four adventurers as they have done absolutely nothing the entire time. Next, she looks over to Rosie who was knocked unconscious earlier by Carla's Mace. Gin decides to crawl to Rosie to wake her up to join the fight since herself couldn't fill her legs thus stand up.

She gets right to Rosie and starts shaking her saying, "Get up Rosie! You need to get up, the pack needs you. Rosie please get-" Rosie's body get flip over and reveals on why she isn't waking up. There is a massive blue and black spot where the mace hit her head, second clue is Rosie's eyes are slightly open and the eye balls themselves are almost pointing in the back of her head. The last clue is Gin putting her paw on the inflicted wound and the tips of her claws were sinking into Rosie's head.

She's dead.

Gin looks back at her pack leader to see her struggling to hit Carla then she glances around for something of use until she spots that terrifying black mace. She crawls to it, hoping to throw it to Anna to use in her fight against Carla. She crawls up to the handle and extends her right hand to grab it but as soon as she does, she can't lift it. She brings her left hand in to help but no matter how much she twists or try's to turn it upright, it wouldn't move an inch. Frustration gets to her as she quickly realizes she can't do anything more without her legs.

She looks over to Sunshine and Midnight to see them fighting the four adventurers, and she sees the archer sending her arrow straight up the air for no reason. Confused, Gin watches the arrow go up and up until it started to slow down then the tip of the arrow does a one eighty degree turn towards the ground. The entire arrow begin to slightly glow in a yellow as the arrow takes aim at Sunshine, Gin finally realizes that arrow is a Magic Guided Arrow and Gin was about to speak up to warn Sunshine. Unfortunately, as soon she open her mouth, the arrow had found it's mark and burrow into Sunshine shoulder. Gin gasps and see Sunshine in pain and before she can think of anything, she sees another arrow erupt from within Sunshine's chest. The two werewolves make brief eye contact before Sunshine falls to the ground and see the tail end of the arrow sticking out in her back. Pain and grief grow deeper into her soul as another pack member has died.

Gin suddenly hears, "You know what? I think I'll just kill you all for all the death you've cause to my pack!" She looks over to see Midnight enrage and charges at the adventurers as they themselves prepare for her. Gin watches the scene unfold until she starts glancing at the duel between Anna and Carla that wasn't going anywhere it seems like.

"AAAhhhh!" Gin quickly turns her back to Midnight to see her on the ground mumbling something to the archer. Gin wanted to scream 'STOP' but when she took a deep breathe, the pain in her spine flared up causing her to remain silent. She regains her composure and sees the archer putting Midnight down. Gin glances at the duel and to her utter surprise to see Anna is underfoot of Carla as they were also looking at Midnight.

The fighting between the adventurers and the werewolf pack has come to an end with Gin and Anna the last surviving members besides the husbands and children that can't fight. Gin hears Carla saying, "Well looks like this fight is now over and you've lost."

Fear grips Gin's heart as both Werewolves were now at Carla's mercy and she has made it very clear she isn't the merciful type of person. Is this the end for both of them?
