Chapter 3: My Beacon Academia

"Sooo...you were late residents to Beacon Academy?" Ruby asked as Team MESS sat down at the same table as them in the cafeteria. "Why didn't you just say so?"

"Well...coming from out of town isn't exactly the most ideal place." Erick muttered from behind a book on Grimm species. "We were already frustrated from getting lost in that...Forever Fall Forest, that you called it."

"And where you come from...some of you just happen to have psychic powers?" Weiss asked. "Where exactly did you inherit psychic powers? What town or City? In which Kingdom?"

Moon didn't say anything as he picked at his food, leaving his friends to look at him uncomfortably. Astro honked his nose as he jumped up and down, his feet squishing against the table and making fart noises.

"Hee Ho!" he honked. "Why leave nice girls hanging?"

"Well…" Sarah rubbed the back of her head as she handed Astro a bit of jelly in her hand. "According to what we know, and you're free to believe what you want, long ago, the place Moon and I lived had an extraterrestrial encounter. Supposedly, a race of aliens mated with humans, and their children inherited psychic powers."

"Now that just sounds fake." Yang crossed her arms with an irritated stare. "Aliens and humans mating? You sound like you jumped out of a video game!"

"You may find it weird. But we find a lot of things here weird." Sapphire shrugged.

Moon's fingers tapped against the table. His dead blue eye was fixated on Jaune, the blond leader of Team JNPR looked about as gloomy as normal.

"And...what exactly is Astro?" Pyrrha asked, looking at the Mr. Saturn in Sarah's arms. "It's quite the adorable little creature."

"Astro is a Mr. Saturn." Sarah replied. "Moon and I rescued him after his home had been destroyed. So...he sort of sees us like Parental figures."

"Weeee!" Astro bounced up and down on her lap. "Momma Sarah take me."

"A...Mr. Saturn?" Ruby asked. "Why does that sound so familiar?…"

"You probably read it in a book somewhere." Sapphire jumped in, seeing Sarah's breath hitch.

"Is your friend okay?" Nora asked questioningly, directing the conversation towards Moon. Who had barely moved from one remote location. "He looks so depressed. And everyone is staring at him."

"Nora!" Ren facepalmed.

For Sarah, Erick, and Sapphire, this was unfortunately true. Most of the cafeteria students facing Moon were whispering, having directed eyes at him.

"Oh come on Ren, you're the one who can sense emotions! Surely you can agree that he's got a problem."

"It's...hard for him to make friends." Sarah said quickly. "It...took him a very long time for him to be comfortable hugging me...even after he said he loved me. And...we recently had a little incident...another one of our friends...he was...killed in front of us."

"Father Moon good person, Zoom." Astro honked as he jumped up on the table. "Yang-Yang not good person!"

"Astro!" Sarah gasped as her face flushed red. Everyone laughed with the exception of Yang, who glared at the small creature.

"It seems like Astro doesn't like anyone who'd attack you. I don't blame him...Yang did start it after all." Ruby snickered.

"Well...is there anything we can do to try and...you know...make him comfortable?" Weiss asked, bringing the conversation back to Moon. "I can already tell you it won't look good if he's going to be like this while leading you guys."

"You'd...be surprised." Sapphire replied, giving her a smile. "But, normally he can get more comfortable when he's familiar with his surroundings. Perhaps you could give him a tour? Ice Queen, you look quite familiar with this place."

"That won't be necessary." Moon finally spoke up, his voice sounded pretty much dead. "I can find my own way around."

"You know, you could at least TRY to act like you want to be here." Yang snapped at him. "You could at least try to acknowledge that we're being nice and WANT to get to know you."

Moon gave her a look of coldness, before simply picking up his tray and moving over to an empty table.

"He'll...get there...eventually." Ren said. "I can sense that there's still something he's distraught over. I guess that would be the friend who was killed in front of you all."

"Yeah...but...don't go mentioning that." Erick replied, taking his nose out of the book. "If he wants to share any information with you, he will. Pestering him and lecturing him ain't going to shit. The only people he'll even listen to are us anyway."

"Then why don't YOU tell him to get his act together?" Yang threw her arms in the air.

"Because it's not our job to FORCE him to like someone." Sapphire replied with a frown.

A sort of cold silence swept over the table.

"Er...Jaune…You've been awfully quiet? Is everything alright?" Pyrrha broke the silence with a concerned tone at her team's leader. "Perhaps you can help us think of a way to help Moon feel more comfortable?"

"Hmm?" Jaune seemed to blink back into existence. "Oh...I don't know...maybe."

Sarah followed the blond's eyesight, which had been directed towards another group of first year students, an all boys team that looked like stereotypical highschool bullies you'd see in some Disney teen slice of life. Big and Jockey, maybe like your average football playing bully. Currently, it looked like he was messing with a Faunus girl with bunny ears. Moon also had a disapproving stare at him at his empty table.

Pyrrha also noticed Sarah's eyes. "Cardin again?" she asked. "He's been bullying you since day one Jaune!"

"Great…" Erick rolled his eyes. "Bullies, just what this place is full of kids training to protect people from deadly swarms of nasty fear-feeding creatures needed."

"He's not bullying, he's just...messing around!"

"He's a bully, Jaune." Ruby said with narrowed eyes.

"Oh come on, Name one time he's bullied me!"

"The time he slapped your scroll out of your hands and broke it." Ren said boredly.

"The time he activated your shield as you walked through the doorway and got it wedged between the classroom door." Blake continued.

"And let's not forget last week, where he shoved you into his rocket launcher locker, and flung you into the air." Weiss finished, taking out a nail filer.

"I didn't land that far from the school!" Jaune protested.

"You know if you need help, all you need to do is ask!" Pyrrha replied, they could sense a bit of dread in her voice.

"I'm fine, plus, it's not like he's a jerk to JUST me." Jaune replied.

"Then let's do something about it!" Nora said. "Let's break his legs!"

"I like the sound of that." Sapphire replied, nodding his head in agreement.

"Could you please stop!"

Everyone's heads turned towards Cardin, where he was grabbing Velvet's bunny ears and tugging on them. "See." Cardin snorted. "I told ya they were real!"

"What a freak!" one of his team members said as they all started laughing.

"That's funny, because the only freak I see around here is YOU GUYS." Their heads turned towards Moon, who wasn't even looking at Cardin.

"Uh-oh." Erick muttered.

"Oh hell yeah." Sapphire smirked. He turned back to both teams. "Okay, you guys are DEFINITELY not going to want to miss this!"

Team RWBY and JNPR looked as Cardin let go of Velvet's ears and walked up to Moon. "What did you say, kid?" he snapped.

Moon turned and looked at him. His eyes were cold as he stood up from his chair.

"Look, Carl...was it?" Moon said boredly.

"Cardin." The boy growled

"I don't really give a shit." Moon snapped back at him. "Now, here's just a crazy idea for your pea sized brain. How about, you stop picking on the Faunus people around here who haven't done jack shit to you! Leave Beacon, and go fuck yourself?"

"She's a freak." Cardin snapped, crossing his arms. "People like her are the reason why we have issues with the White Fang."

"Then, do please educate me." Moon replied smugly. "Because, I can't seem to find the connection between your fucking attitude, this nice lady with bunny ears who seems incapable of being an asshole to you, and a terrorist organization."

Cardin glared at him as Sapphire looked on with glee.

"Come on...push those buttons…" the blue haired boy said.

"What are you so excited for?" Weiss asked.

"So...seeing as how you have acknowledged that you're just being an asshole." Moon replied irritably. "How about this, you stop making fun of her, and the rest of the Faunus. And I don't make you into a pudding cup."

Cardin snorted. "You and what army?"

"I'm glad you asked!" Moon snarled, his hand then flashed yellowish brown light. Suddenly the Earth began to shake as a tentacle for rock sprung up from the floor, wrapping Cardin around his waist. Then, two giant golems made of bright red rubies emerged from thin air.

"What the he-"

Both Ruby Golems both proceeded to punch Cardin multiple times with their big red fists.

Team RWBY and Team JNPR's eyes widened as Cardin began to scream in pain as everyone in the cafeteria just watched in shock.

Moon directed his attention upwards, and one Ruby Golem did an uppercut, launching Cardin into the air. He then jumped up, calling forth his blue bladed sword.

"SHOULDN'T HAVE PISSED ME OFF!" Moon performed a flurry-octaslash to blast through Cardin before landing on the ground, sheathing his sword back in.

"Little shit." a massive, non-lethal explosion from the two ruby golems as they eviscerated into nothing ended the fall as Cardin slammed against the ground.

The entire cafeteria hall was just silent, apart from Sarah, Erick, Astro, and Sapphire, everyone else just looked pretty mortified at the sight of that.

Moon looked at Velvet. "If he's ever going to try that shit again, let me know." he did a little bow, which the faunus girl merely blinked, as if still trying to process what had happened.

"D-Did he?!" Weiss stuttered.

"Pretty cool, right?" Sapphire asked. "Moon studied his blade and powers watching some pretty powerful fighters."

"That. Was. AWESOME!" Ruby cheered excitedly.

"Awesome?! He could've killed him!" Weiss snapped.

"The day Moon kills someone that hasn't attempted to kill him first, is the day I lose faith in his sanity." Sarah said reassuringly.

"Are you sure you can even call him sane?!" Yang asked,

Moon walked over to Cardin's messed up body and looked down at it. "For bullies like yourself, I normally couldn't bat an eye. Racist assholes on the other hand? Yeah…I think the message is clear…" He paused for a moment. "On second thought…" he bent down and his hand flashed a darker green color, he placed it on the boy's body. Most of Cardin's injuries faded, and he grunted as he stood up. Then, he blinked and shook his head.

"What do you want?" Cardin snapped.

"Nothing…" Moon replied. "I'll be going now." Team Mess' leader then left the cafeteria.

"That interaction seemed...unjustifiable." Pyrrha examined.

"You can't expect him to not want to cover his tracks here." Erick said calmly. "Moon can erase memories...and...he doesn't do it very often."

"And he trusts that NO ONE here wants to rat him out?!" Weiss folded her arms.

"Would you?" Sapphire asked smugly. "Do you have the audacity to try after what you saw?"

"I might." Weiss replied.

"Pretty girl cold!" Astro honked. Sarah facepalmed as Weiss' face looked at the small creature in shock. Ruby looked like she was resisting the urge to laugh her face off.

"So...are you all going to try and get Moon to come around?" Blake asked. "It would seem as if he's uncomfortable around new people."

"We can try...it might...take some time though."

"Fascinating…" Erick spoke up in their dorm room later that night. "These Grimm are like...the main thing of Remnant!" Sapphire, Sarah, and Astro watched as he scribbled stuff down inside of the Demonrift. "All sorts of different species, and even the weaker ones are nothing to sneeze at, because in packs they are capable of overwhelming even the most skilled Hunters."

"The Grimm are likely Salem's main force of attacking without making herself known." Sapphire said, in a hushed voice. Looking as Moon sat on his bed with his arms folded as he looked down at a book on the four Kingdoms of Remnant. "So it wouldn't surprise me if even the most basic of creatures could be deadly."

"Yes, but the anatomy of these things is fascinating." Erick replied. "It seems like the reason why channeling your Aura against them works so well, is likely the result of them being soulless creatures. Now, I'd need a Grimm to actually study, but we should be fine against them. Worst case scenario, it might take us longer to kill one. But PSI should be just as effective. In addition, the way Aura is drawn to the individual person, seems to work similarly to how PSI is channeled between the body. So Moon and Sarah shouldn't need to worry about running out of energy here."

Astro jumped up and down on Sarah's bed. "Weeee!"

"Are we...really going to keep him here?" Sapphire asked curiously. "It...it might be a bit too dangerous to keep him around."

"No…" Moon spoked up, the first time he had spoken since they entered their dorm. "Unless things get really ugly, we'll keep Astro here."

"For...spying purposes?" Sarah asked, a bit of nervousness in her voice. "Moon...that seems a little...unethical."

"We can't exactly trust anyone here." Moon replied flatly. "Whether or not these Hunters and Huntresses have good intentions, that doesn't mean that the trainers of these academies in the other kingdoms are under Salem's influence."

"That seems a bit unorthodox, especially when we can easily piece together that Salem controls them. They'd likely deflect a question about her, or something close to her if we implied it." Erick replied with a rather bitter tone.

"Still…" Moon said. "According to this, all graduates of these academies are given their Huntsmen and Huntress licenses by said academies. Registered into a database, tracked on missions, so on, and so forth. If Salem has any influence over the leaders of these kingdoms, anyone who gets close to her discovery can be handed over with the snap of the fingers."

Sarah walked over to the bed, and sat down next to him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Moon...take a moment to stop. We just got here after all. It's going to take time to find Salem since we can't have a good sweep on the world."

Moon didn't bother to look at her. "And what do we do about that?" he snapped. "We shouldn't get attached to all these stupid idiots. Because we don't know who's going to stick around until the very end!"

"Moon…" Sarah looked at him, there was a good sense of dread in her eyes. "What's...what's wrong? You...you can tell us."

"I'm fine...Sarah." he grunted.

"Look, Moon." Sapphire calmly spoke. "I know that you've been frustrated. But, Team RWBY and Team JNPR may be our best bets at getting to Salem. It would be in our best interest to keep all of them as close as possible, even if we must turn on them in the future."

Moon's eyes narrowed. Then, he slid off the side of the bed, standing up.

"I'm going to take a walk." he muttered.

"Wasn't there a curfew or something?" Erick asked as Moon walked out the door. His friend didn't respond as the door shut behind him.

"Moon…" Sarah's eyes started to water.

"Hehehe." An evil, cold voice snickered in her head. Sarah blinked and found herself facing a Shadow of herself. Black skin, hair, and clothes, with a red ribbon and blood red eyes. They were inside of a voided landscape.

"Now darling...tell me...what seems to be the problem?" Dark Sarah hissed at her. Her psychotic smile was torture enough.

"What did you do to him?!" Sarah spat.

"We're your dark sides, our influence spreads, and maybe it had something to do with the destruction of Nightmare."

Sarah clenched her fist. Dark Sarah twirled around her chuckling evilly.

"One, Two, Giygas' coming for you!"

"Three, Four, Salem comes for more!"

"Five, six, then we join the mix."

Sarah concentrated her energy into her fist and attempted a punch on her Dark side, Dark Sarah vanished and reappeared behind her. "Nice try sweetheart." That cold hissy voice sent a spark of rage down her body. "For as long as you live, no matter how hard you fight, no matter how badly you beat us. We always come back...PK HATE!" A blast of black and red light blasted Sarah across the voided landscape.

"Nothing you can do about it now!" Dark Sarah cackled evilly as Sarah pushed herself up. "Try, and try, and try some more."

Sarah breathed heavily. It was back to their old tricks from Dark Moon, Dark Sarah, and Dark Erick. The part of Giygas' soul that tortured them day in and day out. Implanted in them by the Seiros Saints, Giygas, and Salem, that was all it took.

"We'll take your minds in due time." Dark Sarah started to stretch and fade as her shadowy hands grabbed Sarah. Her face grew more psychotic as her evil cackle. "Don't worry darling, I'll be sure to take good care of your boyfriend!"

"STOP!" Sarah screamed as she blinked back into reality. Sapphire and Erick both looked over at her. Her rapid breathing and sweating forehead alerted them.

"Dark Sarah...already?!" Sapphire asked. Sarah only nodded nervously.

"Well...that's not good." Erick muttered. "If she's already on the move, then so are Dark Moon, and my own dark side. The pain is miniscule at the moment. At least we've grown used to it. But it will only get worse if we aren't careful."

"Well...where exactly are you going to find materials for your cleansers?" Sapphire asked.

"We'll have to look into that." Erick muttered. "We should let Moon as soon as he gets back."

"Stupid fucking piece of shit." Moon hissed as he rubbed his head, which had started to sting like a bit of acid on his skin.

"Look, you aren't trapped without Sarah anymore." Dark Moon hissed at him. "You know what that means bitch!"

Moon growled as he walked out onto a terrace balcony. He took a deep breath as he looked up at the broken moon hovering above.

"You're out there somewhere." Moon hissed as the memory of Salem holding him up as a baby flashed through his brain. "Even if I can't kill Giygas as he lives in us. I can at least get revenge on you."

He cracked his neck as the pain faded, blowing his blond hair away from his silver eye. Running away was never an option for him, for Sarah, for Erick, or for Dyson when he was still alive. All it ever was, was pain and suffering. His hair came back down, covering that large triple scar.

Too many questions for him to ask at the moment, and granted, they had only been here a day. But there was so much work to do.

He looked at the gadget that had developed in his hand. It was a blue circular sphere similar to the orb at the top of Palutena's staff.

Days until first report: 2

He sighed, so much for trying to stay on the down low. Now he had even more to add to his irritation factor. As if Salem wasn't bad enough, the stupid goddess would likely pull them out immiediatly at the thought of danger. Then there were the two teams of RWBY and JNPR, and Ozpin's mysterious nature. Hopefully, it wasn't some stupid scandal.

Did he want to push his friends out of the picture? No, absolutely not. However, it frankly felt more irritating to try and make more friends that could be abandoned at any point. At least with the Black Eagles, he knew all of them would survive their rebellion from the Church of Seiros.

Unfortunately, much to his disliking, Yang and Erick were both right. Some effort was going to need to be taken.

"No attachment." Moon muttered, looking at the portraits of the members of Teams RWBY and JNPR he had registered into the orb's magical database. "Any one of these stupid people could get killed or turn traitor."

He put the orb away as he glanced back up at the shattered moon. He took a deep breath as a slow, icy sort of presence entered his power senses.

"If you've come to tell me that I'm breaking a curfew, Weiss, I'd encourage you to consider that Professor Ozpin never gave my friends and I a rules sheet."

The small steps of her heels tapped to a stop against the marble material.

"How did you…"

"Each of your Auras gives off a different sort of...personality flare to my power sensing abilities." Moon replied boredly without turning to face her. "You have a bit of a...cold and icy feeling. Ruby has a bit of a giddy and energetic one, Ren's is more calm, Nora's feels quite bold, Pyrrha's is reserved, Blake's is nearly unsensible, and Yang's feels like a burning flame." he turned around to see her shaking her head in a bit of disappointment.

"Is there any particular reason you came out here?" The ice queen asked, crossing her hands.

"Would you believe me if I said I came out here to lure you out here?" Moon gave her a smirk as her eyes became that sort of anime shocked expression where her pupils faded before snapping back.

"No!" She snapped. "Aren't you married?"

"Yes." Moon replied, his voice still sounded emotionless.

"Well…" Weiss stuttered a little. "You DO realize you have class at NINE right?!"

"Yes, but that doesn't matter, I'm a light sleeper anyway." Moon replied. He simply stared deadpanned at the Ice Queen's uncomfortable stance. Seeing as how he had an ample opportunity, he concentrated his own thoughts on hers. After listening to her mind as her own voice faded out, he simply nodded his head as her brain spoke her past to him.

"...and furthermore, Beacon is a very prestigious school." Weiss babbled on. "Do you have any idea how much you would've wasted if you managed to work your way in here only to be kicked out for rule violations and…"

"I really don't care about prestigiousness." Moon interrupted her, snapping himself back to reality. "Nor do I give a shit about any of Ozpin's rules. If I can get away with what I did to Cardin, then I'm certain he won't mind a violation of curfew."

"You realize nobody's going to turn you in because of what you DID, right?" Weiss scoffed, "I'd turn you in myself if it wouldn't make me look like a prick."

Moon snickered a little. "You...remind me quite a lot of myself, when I was younger, at least." he said calmly. "I always followed the rules, acted all prim and proper, tried to put my best foot forward."

"I find that hard to believe." The ice queen's bright blue eyes narrowed.

"Yes, well, when you act all prim and proper, and people beat you up for it, that'll turn your heart to Ice." Moon replied, flicking his hand a little. "I believe someone once told me that rules were meant to be broken."

"That logic is flawed on so many levels." Weiss shook her head in disappointment. An awkward silence seemed to follow them.

"Can I ask you a question, Weiss?" Moon asked.

"What?" she asked irritably.

"Your prim and proper attitude makes me think you've been raised from rich beginnings. However, your stern mannerism seems to suggest that you have...family problems."

The Ice queen's mouth dropped slightly. "H-how did?"

"I had family issues myself…" Moon replied, "Granted, my special...condition...led me to push them away...that was before they were killed."

"I can assure you no one in my family is dead." Wiess scoffed. "And you have no right to pry into my personal business, I barely even know you!"

"You do make a good point." Moon's tone was still dead. "But, your name is Weiss Schnee, correct?"

"Yes!"

"Well, that would put the family tracing I did to the rich family in the Kingdom of Atlas. Largest exporters of elemental Dust throughout the world of Remnant? You'd be...the middle child of a family of three? Your older sister pursued a life to aid the leader of Atlas, effectively making you the heiress to the company. People of your family name are normally able to summon creatures and slow down time to create platforms." This was a lie, as he had read her mind to learn this, but it was worth making sure that he could establish a connection.

The Ice Queen raised an eyebrow. "You uh...you really...did your research."

"Yes…well...your more formal attire made me believe that you'd have some sort of...historical importance. I don't have much background on your friends...seeing as how they are...harder to research."

"You know, if you just tried to tolerate them and get to know them, I'm certain you'll have an easier time getting to know anyone." Weiss replied, her eyes narrowed a little.

"Yes, my friends have informed me." Moon replied, his tone still mildly irritated. "I'll start doing that...I'll be heading back to my room now. It was nice speaking to you."

Weiss rolled her eyes as she turned around and began to walk back towards the balcony entrance.

"I can feel as though our bond with Weiss has grown stronger." Moon flinched a little

Confidant Established; Weiss Schnee.

Rank: 1

"Great, this harem establishing bullshit." Moon muttered. He took out the blue orb once Weiss had turned the corner and it flashed open, showing the hologram pictures of the members of Teams RWBY and JNPR, as well as Professor Ozpin.

"I'd like to establish a new data entry." The orb started to glow at his words. "Weiss Schnee. The second member of Team RWBY."

Well, RWBY certainly did take its precious time in the first two volumes before stuff really started going down. But I appreciate the time span to give my characters and the two teams, as well as Ozpin some time to get to know each other, all the normal stuff you'd expect from a story.

Now, I do know that fight scenes are not normally my style of writing. However, I wanted to try and emulate RWBY's fast paced fight scenes seen in earlier volumes next chapter. My goal is for each fight scene to take up at least two pages worth of a Google Doc that I write on, with Major fight scenes getting hopefully three.

It does feel nice to be in a location where I can rely on the magic-like Semblances and elemental dust with extravagant weapons, making it so I don't have to strictly nerf PSI from Moon and Sarah into the goddamn ground.

Now, all things considered, I do have plans to heavily diverge away from canon, regardless of what the show presents in later volumes. This comes naturally from Salem being Moon, Sarah, and Erick's technical Mother thanks to Giygas, who will have involvement in the story himself. So you'll have to wait and see what I bring to your tables.

Anyway, that's all for today's chapter. I'll try and keep a theme of one chapter a month up, every second Friday of each month. At least until I get word on what RWBY's Fate is so I can know what crap I need to pull out of my butt or what I still want to change. I also do plan on trying to make the characters...more bearable protagonists most of the time.

Either way, if you have any thoughts or suggestions, feel free to let me know, I'm always open to critique.

See you all, next time.
