Authors Notes: Hello, just a little message from me. Apologies for the wait on this chapter, I know its coming out on time most likely, but I've heavily been scrutinized and have gone back and forth on how this chapter goes multiple times. This is the end result that I'm satisfied with, note that the initial draft was heavily altered after multiple comments about how Team MESS and Team RWBY have bounced off each other. You'll learn more about that at the end. Either way, enjoy seeing Saint Seiros again.
Chapter 12: The Immaculate Saint Serios.
It was cool, crisp, and silent. A quiet night because of the Grimm Patrol Curfew. Moon reckoned that this was likely the given reason why she was out this late. While most citizens would already be inside, that didn't mean there wouldn't be an unlucky few.
He felt Sarah's heart racing as he held onto her, making sure he kept his cool as he sped around Vale. Eventually, after getting through many corners and streets he eventually found Sapphire and Erick right in front of another arms dealer shop. He skidded to halt as his Speed Up effect gave out and nearly tripped.
Both boys heard the whoosh and turned to both of them. Moon quickly set Sarah back on the ground and then unsheathed Saphria, looking around cautiously.
"What's wrong?" Sapphire asked, "I'd imagine that if you charged out here after us, then it would probably be important."
He didn't want to respond and get tension high. But as he concentrated on his PSI senses, he could feel a massive amount of corrupt energy, energy that usually meant trouble with one of Giygas' lackeys. Unfortunately, that same dark, corrupt energy also signaled Grimm. It was heavy, and it was inching closer, and closer…thumping…grunting…heavy focus.
DANGER!
"Pk Earth!" He raised his hand up in the air as it flashed a yellowish brown color as a rock wall sprung up behind the four of them, he heard an explosion, followed by a hint of smoke and heat.
All four of them turned, and, while they weren't surprised to see Rhea standing there. They were surprised at what she looked like.
Moon personally had thought that Rhea would look about the same as she was when he Diamondized her. However, it appeared that something else happened to her. While she still had bright green hair and eyes, wearing her typical white battle dress, with the golden winged diadem on her head. Her other appearances looked different.
For one thing, her hands looked a bit scaly and her bright green nails were sharpened to look a bit clawlike. Her Sword and Shield, which both were made of a very durable glass-like material from her home planet that emitted blue lightning through the visible parts, were a bit cracked. Her arms, while not as scaly as her hands had green blood veins visible, and lastly, they could see small white wings growing out of her backside.
He heard the scuffle of his teammates pulling out their own weapons as they all stood looking at Rhea. Who had a sadistic looking smile spread across her face. It didn't quite match Pokey's creepiness though, even though she now looked like a hybrid between her dragon and human form.
"Hello Children." The saint sneered at them. "Did you miss me?"
"Not in particular." Sapphire replied, giving her his own glare. "Though, I personally can't say I'm surprised you didn't learn your lesson."
Rhea ignored him as she scanned between Moon, Sarah, and Erick. "I'm here for you." she hissed at them. "I guess having Sapphire too will be fine."
Moon frowned and kicked off the ground, he zoomed towards the Saint. Rhea swiftly blocked his swift slash with her shield. The saint flipped the shield up and casted a bolt of lightning, blowing him back towards his friends.
Sapphire quickly raised Stalwart Terra in the air and smashed it against the ground, a large earthquake rattled the ground as cracks around the Saint's feet. Rhea's wings grew in size and propelled herself in the air.
"Shoot her down!" Moon hissed.
Sarah nodded her head and casted one blast of an Omega PK Fire. Moon joined her in unison shooting a blast of blue fire with his own PK Fire. Erick added fuel to the flame by using his dust blaster on Gaia to launch the explosives, all the firepower created a massive fireball that exploded upon making contact with her.
Rhea swooped down and braced her sword, Sapphire quickly skidded in front of Sarah and smashed Stalwart Terra over her head. Rhea retreated back and quickly put her hands together.
"Agena's Arrow."
Moon quickly flashed his hand as a barrier dome of asphalt appeared over their heads. All four of them felt the ground shake as a bit of rubble fell from the dome-roof.
"Why didn't you cast a PSI Shield? We could've deflected it!" Erick asked.
"Yeah, and possibly blown up a civilian building!" Sapphire countered.
"Not now!" Moon hissed at them. He lowered the dome and the four were greeted by an instant blast of fire. The four of them felt the heat sear on their skin as the sizzle of flames crackled on them. Moon hissed and summoned some water to extinguish all of them.
Rhea hissed as she dove back down, her white wings flapping a large gust of wind at the four of them. "Miasma!" Five blasts of purplish goo developed and shot down towards the four of them.
"Scatter!" The four of them separated in four directions as Rhea crashed against the ground. Quickly, the former Saint twirled her sword around as blue lightning sparked around it, she stuck the sword into the ground as an explosion geyser of light erupted around her like a volcano. She sent bits of the road in every which direction, smashing debris against sides of buildings, and breaking windows as well.
Moon blinked as he started to hear screams from some citizens in the area, followed quickly by some sticking their heads out the window.
Rhea's bright green eyes twitched a little as a smirk crossed her face. It didn't take long for him to notice a few white sparks of light sparking off her fingers. Looking around quickly, he twitched at the thought of what was about to happen.
"Erick! Use your own Counter PSI Unit!" He shouted.
The genius seemed taken aback. "If I do that then-"
"JUST DO IT!" Moon hissed at him. His friend reluctantly agreed and pulled out the contraption, it was a round, almost like a large coin. After giving it a tap, a loud sonic screech emitted from the machine as a sonic wave blasted through the area. Though, only Moon, Sarah, and Rhea seemed to get affected by it as they all flinched.
Thankfully though, the sparks of white disappeared from the saint's scaly fingertips. The Saint's face was now a blazing red as her bright green eyes glared the four of them down.
Sapphire quickly ran up behind the saint and smashed his axe into her back. Rhea was flung across the street. The saint flipped against the ground before using her wings to propel herself into the air, catching her balance.
Moon cursed to himself. Where the hell were those Atlas Military guards?
Rhea put her hands together one last time. "Agena's Arrow!"
Fuck, he had forgotten that Sapphire's Magic and PSI were two separate things. Thankfully, Sapphire was quick to react as he quickly used Stalwart-Terra to summon a boulder from the ground before launching it towards the falling white small arrow. The boulder shot under, and the four friend's hearts all sank as the arrow just crashed through the rock, landing on the roof of a building and exploding.
"MOON!" He blinked as Sarah jumped in front of him and smacked a Miasma Ball back at the saint using Freya. The purple ball of goo exploded and pushed the hybrid Saint back. A blast of blue ice shot towards the ground and encased Rhea's lower half in ice. Moon breathed a sigh of relief seeing that her wings couldn't flap her away. Though, the ice wouldn't hold her forever.
Gripping Saphira's hilt, he stepped up to Rhea slowly. His PSI was still neutralized by the Counter PSI Unit, so he had to be careful of any type of Pokey Problem. He was certain that Pokey had something if he just let the saint wander out here.
As if to answer if thought, he watched as the Saint's body started to flash a lime green colored light, just like her eyes and hair. It glowed around her like some type of aura, and she met his gaze with her taunting glare.
"Go on…" Rhea hissed at him. "Take another step, I dare you. Your powers are still neutralized."
He turned to Sapphire, Erick, and Sarah, who had rushed over to the blown up building, now collapsed into nothing. He could see a few civilians behind them, but many were now digging through the rubble.
He clenched his fist, if she transformed into the Immaculate One, that giant white dragon would only put more people in danger.
K̷̨̡͚͖̱̾̒̚i̵̛̞̔̓͊̏̚͝l̴̛̟̻̣̮̝̞̐͐̿̋̿͘͘͜l̶̨͖̭̳̥͕͍̜̒́͆̈́͌͆͗ ̸̡̢̠̖̖͋̊͐̍̂͛͜͠ḥ̸̩̪̦̻́̊̇̚͝e̷͉̖͓̽̈́̑̈́ř̴͎̭͙̺́͂̿̎̎!̸̠̮̉̂̌̑̇̄͗ ̸̲̙̗̬̟̙̼̹͛̈́͛̒̌͝K̴̝̉̆̊́i̵̦̲̩̇̀̂̿̉̄ͅl̶̡̨̢͍͍̠̃̚l̸͔̞̈́́́̀̋́ ̴͙̓̀̈́̀H̸̺͔͇̄͐̄̌e̶̬͍͐̍́̊͘ͅr̴̛̭̘̲͔͇͓͖̅͋̈́̊̇́͘!̴̛͔̼̔̑̃͆͌̄͂ͅ
Hegemon's desires flamed his mind. Each time more harsh than the last. Reluctantly, he sighed and turned his back to her. He heard the ice shatter and went to move his hand to Saphira's sheath on his back. However, the sound of flapping wings that soon became distant told him that, unfortunately, Seiros had gotten smarter.
He quickly moved over to his friends, each of whom looked at the rubble debris of the once standing building.
"What's the status report?" He asked Sapphire, a bit of a crack in his voice.
His blue haired friend looked at him. "Well, call us unusually lucky, but the building was reportedly rundown according to these people," he said calmly.
Moon raised an eyebrow. "That…seems unlikely," he replied.
"I know…this was quite a populated part of town, the building looked quite new as well…maybe some homeless people were using it for shelter or something? Perhaps it was up for rent?" After watching his questioning look, his blue hair friend quickly added. "Remember, Agena's Arrow IS a weaker version of those javelin nukes that the Agarthans used, so it's entirely possible that people got vaporized by the explosion."
Moon simply shrugged his shoulders as he looked around, still no sign of those Atlas Military people that Ironwood claimed would be around. You'd think that a bunch of explosions would've triggered some type of call for help. Yet, nothing.
Still he narrowed his eyes and concentrated his thoughts on various different people and faunus who were looking at the debris and ruin on the ground. Thankfully, his telepathy wasn't negated by PSI.
"Dear oh dear, that's super unfortunate. Hope nobody important was in there."
"Great, now we've gotta do interviews and shit, the Hunter's academies are already on high alert because of Ironwood's Paranoia over nothing."
"Oh for fucks sake. Now they're gonna blame the Faunus and White fang like they always do! I know Ozpin does his best. But they've gotta pin it on something. I know that freaky woman had wings…but I don't recall any type of Faunus like us growing wings."
He shook his head slowly to clear his thoughts, blinking back to reality. Once he had recovered, he watched his friends make their own ways back from the crowd of onlookers.
"Anything?" he asked. He felt an urge of disappointment as the three of them shook their own heads. He didn't want anyone to have died, but the way events lined up, no casualties from what appeared to be a five story apartment building? That just sounded wrong.
"We got lucky." Erick said calmly. "I don't think it'll be the case if this keeps up."
"No sign of Pokey…" Sarah continued, her tone was nervous. "We did get one injury, a guy got a large cut from some debris that exploded." Moon raised an eyebrow as his wife's face looked like it was ready to collapse.
"Is…something wrong?" he asked.
"Um…" she lowered her tone so only the four of them could hear her. "Our healing powers have no effect on the people here."
"That's…that's impossible." Sapphire replied flatly, "Moon was able to get Jaune back on his feet against the Ursa. Perhaps your PSI is still negated."
"He wasn't that injured though." Moon replied. "I wouldn't be surprised if all my PSI did was kick boost his aura. We've had instances where Lifeup can't fix everything."
"So…if someone gets critically injured, there's nothing you two can do about it? That's…a problem, you might want to mention that to Ozpin before he starts asking you to play god."
"Guess we should." Erick replied. "It might not hurt to wait for authorities to arrive to explain, you did say the Atlas Military was here, right?"
Before Moon could respond, a bloodcurdling scream rang the ears of the four friends. They each turned and, Moon and Sarah quickly casted two shields as a loaded car smashed against the ground and immediately exploded. Chunks of metal car debris and glass smashed against both psychic shields, but both of them held strong as the explosive smoke cleared.
"What in the world?" The four friends looked up towards the tall highway bridge and found their answer. There was some type of large mecha-suit looking device, Moon felt a brief sense of relief seeing that it wasn't piloted by Pokey. Though, that didn't mean that Torchwick wasn't any better.
The mecha suit swung its arms as they watched a brief shadow of rose petals surround it. Before seeing a burst of flames around a white snowflake mural of light. The mecha suit skidded backwards, before swinging its large hands around, they heard a smash as yet another car, this time what appeared to be a cargo truck went flying over the side of the highway bridge above.
"What the hell are they doing?!" Sapphire sounded absolutely stunned as Moon quickly put up an earth barrier dome around the now large number of citizens that had come out to see what all the screams and explosions were about. The truck exploded upon contact with the ground. Once again, the psychic shields protected the four of them, while the earth dome of diamond protected the civilians.
"The height of the above bridge and weight of the cars, in addition to the fact there are people inside AND they're falling. I'd advise you and Sarah to not use your telekinesis to try and stop them." Erick quickly stammered out to them. "It's unfortunate, but if we get up there and help them, we should all be fine."
As he finished that they heard a loud shout from who they assumed was Yang as they watched yet another car go flying across the bridge, this time, it smashed against the mech-suit. Which held up pretty durably. They watched as the giant arm picked up that same car and tossed it over the side, before smacking one of its giant hands against the flurry of rose petals and knocking Ruby out of the air and out of sight on the bridge.
Moon bit down on his lip, sure, he COULD propel himself and someone else up with his levitation. But, recalling what happened at the helicopter by the docks, he presumed that Torchwick would likely anticipate it again. If he could just get an opening to jump up.
The mecha-robot pulled its arm out and transformed it into some type of a cannon, from which, a beam of energy, likely to be aided with some type of dust, was charging.
"Now's our chance, Sarah!" He quickly grabbed onto her and, focusing on his levitation, lept up into the air. He propelled the two of them upwards towards the edge of the tall bridge.
"Take this you big bully!" Moon spotted Ruby, along with Yang, quickly dash up and smash their respective weapons into the side of the cannon, they hit with enough force to alter its direction, and at the worst possible time. The gigantic beam of fire exploded from the arm cannon and was sent down, over the edge of the opposite side of the bridge, where it promptly struck a taller building and exploded.
Unfortunately for him and Sarah. There wasn't much time to react to that as the beam was still firing in a circular direction. It incinerated cars, sent debris down the sides of the bridge, and scorched the top of buildings. Quickly, Sarah pushed both of them off the edge of the bridge before the blast continued at them. She then grabbed onto him as he quickly refocused on not falling. They both stopped in the air and watched as the beam continued downwards and blew up another building, this one happening right next to the diamond dome encasing some civilians. Thankfully, the debris didn't destroy the dome.
He went to continue upwards, only to hear the familiar shattering of glass, meaning that, unfortunately, Torchwick escaped the grasp of the four girls on the bridge above them.
He and Sarah looked back down towards the ground, the Diamond Dome effect had worn off, and they could now hear the shouts of some civilians. All of whom seemed to be distressed about the fact that the other apartment building had been blown up.
He landed both of them against the ground, not wanting to think about the pure idiocy he had seen from Team RWBY in this situation. He quickly jumped back down to get Erick and Sapphire, then, the four of them made their way over to the large group of civilians. It didn't take long for them to come into earshot. By now, actual authorities had arrived at the situation.
One officer approached his buddy and they began talking. "About, 27, maybe 30 people unaccounted for," he said. "Residents aren't sure who was or wasn't in the building. And given that it was hit by fire dust, the bodies are likely nothing but ash now. Add that to those four people, 3 in the cars, and one trucker who was tossed over the edge."
"With me, NOW!" Moon grunted, motioning for his friends, each of them followed him away, before he used his geokinesis to raise the ground they were standing on up to the top of the highway bridge.
Now that they could get to eye level, they saw the destruction above, several cars had been flipped upside down, some were on fire. Though, they couldn't see any dead bodies or injured people in a general vicinity. So it seemed like the Mech's first two cars tossed over were the ones with people.
"Well, that was a job well done!" Their four pairs of eyes all narrowed over at Team RWBY, who had their backs to them.
Moon went to open his mouth, but he was immediately cut off.
"Well done?!" Sapphire sputtered out, making all four girls jump and turn to them. "WELL DONE?! You CANNOT be serious!"
"Well, yeah…" Ruby started.
"Are you blind?!" Erick asked, throwing his hands up. "Look around you at the bridge! Look below the bridge!" he motioned his arms out towards the pile up of cars, the flames on the street, and the three collapsed buildings.
The four girls each looked around the area, though, as Moon conveniently expected, with no sign of an injured or dead person anywhere, they didn't seem as impacted by the event.
"Well…things could've been a lot worse." Yang shrugged her shoulders.
Moon just shrugged his shoulders and silenced his friends before they started a shouting match. At this point, it wasn't even worth yelling at them for inadvertently killing people. They were just trying to stop Torchwick after all, so a heat of the moment thing could be let go.
"People still could've gotten hurt." he said, trying to hide any anger in his voice. "The way you recklessly smashed the cannon and redirected its target. You nearly hit me and Sarah, along with scorching all of the property around here, and destroying buildings."
"Well that-"
"What about those cars that you chucked and smashed at the Mecha suit?" He asked, his tone increasingly bitter. "What if they still had people in them? Some of them flew over the side and smashed against the street below!"
"We wouldn't have done that." Yang protested to him. "Besides, everyone got out and ran."
"Talk about innocent and ignorant." Dark Moon hissed at him. "You really should just up and tell them that people died because of this!"
"Not accounted for isn't the same thing as confirmed." Moon hissed back. "Even if there is likely evidence suggesting that they got turned to ash. Why tell them when we don't have a full answer and evidence?"
"But we KNOW that four people died from having their cars thrown off the bridge!"
"Shut it, that was on Torchwick." He hissed, pushing that nagging evil root out of his brain.
"Speaking of which," He blinked back to reality and simply shook his head, looking at each member of Team RWBY's suspicious gaze. "What were you four doing out here anyway?"
"Astro wandered outside of Beacon on his own." Sapphire butted in for Moon. "We found him just as that explosion went off and found you guys here. Why are YOU four out?"
"Ah, well, we were looking for evidence to bring down the white fang and single handedly become the best, and youngest, Team at Beacon to be crowned as heroes!"
Moon grumbled, talking about doing stuff out of the goodness of your heart. He couldn't even be mad about that, at least they wanted to do good. Even if it was more for selfish reasons.
"They don't think about their actions do they? A decent number of people will just be forgotten about in due time because of tonight? Yet, here you are, not speaking up to accuse them?"
What was honestly the point? Would it be hypocritical of him to chew them out for inadvertently killing people when he and his team had deliberately killed and let people die for the greater good? Not in his eyes, sometimes being a protector of the innocent meant sacrifices must be made somewhere. Though, in this regard, nobody had to die tonight.
He waved his clouded thoughts aside, and looked back to Team RWBY.
"So…where is Astro anyway?" Weiss asked, after an awkward moment of silence.
"Zoom! Right Here I am!" They looked over as the Mr. Saturn popped its head out of Sapphire's traveling bag. "Not very comfy, Zoom. Uncle Sapphy cluttered."
"It was either me, or you got squished around by Erick's inventions," Moon shot his friend a quick glare before he quickly added. "Moon and Sarah charged out without their bags to find you, remember?."
"Yes, Know." Astro honked at Sapphire. "Very Scary."
The nine of them stood in silence, Moon still felt a twitch seeing all the destruction on the highway. The alarms going off, the smell of smoke and…maybe flesh? The dreading eyes of seeing his home, Sarah's home, the boarding school Erick lived, all of that just up in flames.
He shuddered a little at the haunting reminders of seeing the pale corpses. Well…granted, they didn't dare look any closer, though, they could see the bodies of those that cared for them. Even from a distance. That was a personal choice they each made, they didn't say goodbye, or go check. For them to have, they had each concluded that it wouldn't be worth continuing their fight and their mission. Nor would it be worth giving their dark sides a full fleshed vision of something so haunting. Just the fire and flames…not their families.
"Well…it's getting late, and we'll have to report this to Professor Ozpin." Weiss rubbed the back of her arm. Moon noted that she looked particularly at Erick. "Should we begin head-"
"FREEZE!" All eight of them turned in respective directions as Astro ducked back into Sapphire's traveling bag. Moon reached for the hilt of Saphira as he looked at a large circular mob of soldiers, all of them cladded in high tech looking, pearly-white armor, with a helmet visor that covered the faces. Each of them was holding onto a gun with rotational dust compartments.
"Oh NOW they show up." Moon hissed.
"Hold your fire…" Moon hissed as Ironwood walked up behind the encircled group. The man had a neutral expression, though, Moon could sense a bit of anger in his eyes.
Ironwood simply looked around the premise, looking at the absolute mess that had come from Rhea and Torchwick. He took an awfully long stare at the destroyed mech-suit that Torchwick had been using. Though he was talking low and out earshot for any of them. Then, he turned his attention back to the eight of them.
"You do realize it is well past curfew back at Beacon?" he asked.
"Bullshit," Sapphire retorted back. "The only curfew in place is for the citizens. Hunters and Huntresses in training can take Night Shifts in case of Grimm."
"Not first-years." Ironwood replied back, giving him a firm glare. "Team MESS. I expect you four to report to my quarters with Ozpin when you return. Team RWBY, I shall discuss with Ozpin what we do with you."
"Oh? Why do we get treated differently?" Erick hissed at him.
"Yeah…nothing bad really happened, we all tried to put a stop to Torchwick." Weiss followed up. Ruby nodded her head in agreement.
"Team RWBY is outside of my jurisdiction." Ironwood replied. "However, given Team MESS's foreign, and undiscovered abilities to Remnant. They are a matter of interkingdom politics."
Much to Moon, and the rest of his friends' amazement, that answer did not seem to satisfy the Ice Queen. "So they can utilize dust and do what multiple semblances can do with psychic abilities? They're no different from anyone else here. All four of us were here, they weren't the ones who we were fighting, and what use would they need that mecha-suit for?"
"Weiss…this hardly seems li-"
"No, it is." Weiss turned to Blake with an irritated stare. "You said you hate that Faunus are discriminated against. How is Team MESS any different in this situation? They did literally everything we did and yet they're getting called in? Wh-"
"Mrs. Schnee," Ironwood said firmly. "These are not your grounds. Stop talking."
The four friends entered into Ozpin's large skytower office, led by Ironwood. As per the usual, Ozpin just gave them his typical blank expression.
"Would you care to explain?" Ironwood asked firmly as he took his place behind Ozpin.
"Explain what?" Moon asked, rolling his eyes. "Like, what do you want explained?"
"Two entire buildings, one full of people, just vaporized into nothingness."
"Well, if you must know, the first building was destroyed by Rhea." Moon replied. "And, as people reported, that one happened to be abandoned."
"And the other one that ACTUALLY had people in it?" Ironwood asked.
"Oh, so Team RWBY IS actually responsible for their deaths?" Erick asked. "Ruby and Yang both attacked that Mecha suit and hit it hard enough that its arm cannon was redirected and blew up that other building."
"I find your hypocrisy quite irritating." Ironwood replied firmly. He scanned between Moon, Sarah, and Erick. "Did the three of you not have an entire world of people die in your hands because of your inability to save the world?"
Moon's eyes narrowed, yes, he HAD told Ozpin about their world being destroyed and left uninhabitable, but this felt different. "We had no control over that," he replied bitterly. "We were cheated and robbed."
"If I remember correctly," Ozpin jumped into the conversation, still with his neutral, calm tone. "You did tell Mrs. Yang that you'd be willing to let others die in the event of saving more people."
"If I judge that there is simply no better option." Moon replied. "Running a Multiversal Government is no easy task. Peace and stability are needed everywhere. Just because I have the ability to play god, doesn't mean I should. When you change reality, your sanity slowly fades. We actually tried to stop Rhea from blowing up that building, unfortunately, because her abilities risked being shown to civilians in broad daylight, we chose to abide by your wishes to keep the fear down low. She could've done a lot more damage if we weren't careful."
Ironwood went to open his mouth before he was cut off by Sapphire. "In addition," The blue haired boy responded. "You both might want to reassess what you think before you speak to us like this. Death is a touchy subject within the confines of the Multiverse. All of us, from the four of us in front of you, to the council members, and their friends, have experienced loss in some way, shape, or form. Some more harshly than others. However, universal agreement has dictated that, in such an event, we will allow a world to simply die off."
"Then, do educate us," Ozpin asked. At this point, the four of them were expecting this man to be a robot, here they were chewing out him, and his colleague, and he still sat there with a calm, neutral expression. "What exactly is your opinion on death?"
The four of them looked between each other. "Being a hero, it's not easy." Sarah said, looking at the two men. "In an ideal, perfect, fictional situation. You can count on everything to be alright. But a true hero? Those heroes are not. While death is not something that should be honored, praised, or even encouraged to the bravest of warriors, sacrifices are necessary at times. If a handful of people have to die for a sizable majority to live…then…that's just a harsh reality."
"Given that I run an entire multiversal council. We'd gladly take any measures we could to prevent the loss of a world full of life." Moon continued. "However, should the situation present itself, it is an option that I must bear consequences for."
Ironwood was about to speak again before Ozpin spoke in front of him. "I disagree with your reasoning." the man replied calmly. "At the extent of an entire race of people from a cluster?"
"Some things get too dangerous." Moon replied coldly. "You know about Giygas, if any of his little entourage managed to get their slimy devil paws on something big, there is a very good chance that others won't be able to stop it. That's why the council keeps strict watches on those that can, or, in such events, gives them a seat on that council. If not taken seriously, our decisions in one world may very well jeopardize 10 others. That's why those within Giygas' inner circle are feared the most, and why such drastic measures were often necessary to deal with them."
Both men looked at each other. Before Iron wood then asked. "So, if that is the case, why did you only kill Cethleann and Cichol? Not Rhea?"
Moon's eyes narrowed.
"It was the request of my majesty." Sapphire jumped in for him. When Ozpin and Ironwood looked at him, the boy quickly added.
"History in my own world is…complicated. As Moon has told you, the balance of power shifted all over the place throughout the years. Her highness, Emperor Edelgard, felt as though killing Rhea would simply mean that it was nothing more than a brutal shift in power. Even if Rhea was essentially dead by technicality. Moon wanted us to destroy the statue, but the empire decided against it."
"Now, Of course, none of what we have said should really affect you.' Erick shrugged his shoulders, as he chuckled a little. "I mean, after all, that would mean you were responsible for kidnapping four children, embodying them with a hellish torture, worked for an evil Multiversal Cosmic Destroyer, sealed off your cluster from any Multiversal tracker, and created three of the four people you see in front of you who are REALLY not happy with their existence."
"And, hehe, nobody would want that now…would they?" Moon asked.
"What type of authority do you possibly think you can have over us?" Ironwood crossed his arms. "You claim that you have backup from this…council. Where is it?"
"More like…reserved backup." Sarah replied. "I mean…you already have us, I doubt you'd need…or even want like sixty other absurd anomalies running around your world being police. Even then, if all members of the council were to hypothetically fall…well…"
Ironwood's face turned to Ozpin, Moon felt a small satisfaction seeing his annoyance. At least they were pushing buttons in the correct order.
He watched Ozpin take a sip from his coffee mug, before staring at him.
"Could we perhaps…speak to one?" the man asked.
He raised an eyebrow suspiciously as his friends looked at him. Now this was getting ridiculous, of all the possible times to want to speak to a council member. They wanted to NOW? He looked to his left, all three of them shared an equal look of concern.
"Your response of silence is quite concerning." Ozpin continued after a moment. "Do you not trust us enough to-" Nope, he was not about to sit here and listen to that.
"Fuck off with this trust bullshit." Moon shot back. "You want to see one? I'll show you one."
He reached into his cloak hood pocket and pulled the light blue orb. The orb immediately began flashing and the image of Ness and Paula developed into a holographic view.
"Ironwood, Ozpin, this is Ness and Paula, they're two of the four kids that Sarah and I were…for lack of a better term…cloned from."
Both of their dopplegangers looked at all of them with a rare face of disapproval. You could hear muffled shouts of varying tones and voices overhead.
"This is uh…kind of a bad time, Moon." Ness spoke up. "Is this urgent?"
"I seem to have hit a roadblock in trust…Tell Number 78 I want him here, now!" Silence fell from the other side as he also heard gasps from his own team. Ness and Paula's own eyes both widened in surprise. You could also hear a voice barely audible shouting curses.
"Shut up!" Paula shouted over at the voice. "You heard him, go!"
"That'll be all, he'll be back soon." Moon rubbed his hand through the orb and made the screen fizzle out.
"How…many members of the council are there?" Ozpin asked.
"Technically, there are 89 in total." Moon replied. "However, only 83 are on the council. Our we have some weird…stance change fighters that take away 5 slots, and our last member has some…let's just say…legal rat issues."
"And…who exactly is number 78?" Ozpin asked. Moon simply pointed up, and, as both men looked up, a loud booming chorus opening ripped straight out of horror movie blasted downwards. Down from the ceiling, which Moon now realized was almost stupidly high, a flash of orange light saw a tall man descend to the ground. He had long, flowing silver hair and wore a leathery fighting uniform. Behind him, you see a singular black angel wing. In his right hand, he carried an obnoxiously large sword that was basically as tall as he was.

"HEY!" Erick shouted at the man. "We don't have legal rights! Remember?!"
The man's silver eyes narrowed as held up a hand, silencing the seemingly invisible chorus as he landed his feet against the ground.
"General, Ozpin, this is Sephiroth." Moon said, motioning his hand out.
"What…is he?" Ironwood asked.
"I'm a genetically modified god." Sephiroth spoke in a calm, but sinister tone. "I was born from the ashes of genetically modified super soldiers to be the world's-"
"He's a one-winged angel cross super soldier psychopath who chases around a traumatized spiky haired anime boy with a massive sword." Sapphire interrupted.
"We have super soldiers here." Ironwood replied, Ozpin nodded in agreement. "What makes this one so special?" Team MESS looked at Sephiroth's irritated glare.
"What if I were to tell you I could create a Supernova?" The one winged angel asked, giving both men a taunting grin.
As Team MESS expected, the men did not exactly laugh at the idea. However, they did each have a look of doubt.
"An example would be…beneficial. Given there is a way to stop it of course." Ozpin replied.
"Go on, they want to know." Sarah said, noting Sephiroth's questioning look at them.
"Very well then, suffer!" In a singular motion, the One Winged Angel's sword glowed purple as he swung it at both men. The sword's blade connected with both and an orange portal swallowed them whole.
The four of them waited in silence, before Moon quickly glanced at the clock.
"Two minute version?"
"Two minute version." Sephiroth replied. "Is that all you needed?"
"Yep, you can go back to annoying Cloud now." Erick replied. Sephiroth simply shook his head before floating up through the portal from which he came.
"Well, you think that'll convince them?" Sarah asked.
"Surely it has too. It's not everyday you get launched into an alternate dimension and watch as a Supernova blows up in your face."
"Three…two…one…" Moon counted down as an orange portal opened and both men fell out of it and slapped against the floor.
The four of them walked over to both men and helped them up.
"What…the…hell."
"Yes, everything you saw just happened." Moon replied. "Sephiroth can unleash a supernova. And, get this, that's not the worst of what other members can do."
"This isn't funny." Ironwood replied, crossing his arms.
"Neither is what I'm trying to convey to you fools." Moon replied coldly, shaking head. "I'd encourage that you stop thinking that what we tell you is not just some stupid idea that we bullshitted up in our head. WE didn't kill anyone tonight, nor did WE get anyone killed. That doesn't mean that won't change in the future."
Ozpin sat back down and simply returned to his neutral expression. "Ironwood and I still have kingdoms of people that need protection."
"And I've got a fragile Multiverse with infinitely more people than both your kingdoms combined that needs protecting."
"We don't want more nights like tonight. People still died. There was more you could have done." Ironwood replied.
Moon shrugged his shoulders as he and his friends turned to the elevator. "In the eyes of someone who was not there, maybe." he said. "However, given the events, I beg to differ."
Both men watched the elevator close and ding downwards, watching both kids go down. Once their faces were no longer visible, Ironwood turned to Ozpin. Sensing the man's look, the Professor simply responded.
"No."
"No?" Ironwood looked baffled. "Did you not just see what I saw?!"
"I did," Ozpin replied calmly, taking a sip from his mug. "We can't force them to leave and go back to their own Multiverse, not with the knowledge that two of their adversaries are running around. We can't kick them out of Beacon either, we risk her discovering they have arrived."
"You know full well we can't possibly stand up to them if they can do THAT! And that's just one of nearly 90!"
"Of those 90, I'd argue that there's only a few problematic ones." Ozpin replied again, sipping from his mug. "On top of that, despite the impression our kids here present to us. Majority of those members still have caring hearts deep down. Even if Moon can overrule them, most of them will not stoop as low. You could hear the muffled arguments when he asked for Sephiroth."
"Yet they still allowed him to come?" Ironwood has that questioning look.
Ozpin merely shrugged his shoulders as he turned his chair around to look at the shattered moon, shining in the night's sky. "I'm certain that they'll be less than pleased when they find out."
He could hear some tapping of the floor rather sternly. A very common trait of James'
"If you still think it is best to prepare our teams for a potential fight against Team MESS ahead. I can schedule practice rounds under the shade of a tournament practice for people to watch. I have already told you that I will not allow them in the actual tournament. Not when those Darksides are at play."
He heard the messaging of his scroll ding, he looked at the notification, from Qrow. As he turned back to Ironwood to continue discussions, he could've sworn he heard a muffled fart noise coming from the vents above him.
The Highway fight scene is one of the weirder moments of RWBY When I watched it back for the making of this video. Holy shit, I can't believe it. Like sure, the action is incredible and choreographed fantastically. But they fought Torchwick in a mech, on a highway, WHILE CARS WERE MOVING! Meaning that their had to be at least SOME people in them! And this moment literally never gets addressed by anyone, or anything.
Sure, make the argument that Torchwick was technically the one destroying most of the stuff. But Yang clearly is driving quite recklessly and Blake and Sun just straight up jump off car roofs and windshields causing them to swerve off when then do. But their objective was just trying to get Torchwick, it wasn't even planned for them to eventually knock the mech off the highway, Weiss just wanted to slip it and the thing destroyed a barrier and fell off of it! Which by the way, cars were still driving and now there's a big patch of ice on the highway.
By the way, because I keep getting comments about it, it's not my intention to come off as Bashing towards Team RWBY. I'm more than willing to acknowledge the flaws of My OCs hell Moon and Sapphire themselves are both responsible for starting a 5 year war against Rhea! I pictured Team RWBY in the earlier volumes as much more innocent and unaware of what they do. They're just a couple of girls who wanted to be heroes and do good in the world. Sure, Yang nearly got Ruby killed, Weiss was abused, and Blake was a terrorist, but those were specific instances of hardships towards them specifically. They all still believed there was good in the world from everyone until Beacon Fell.
I'm not trying to paint them as unaware idiots, because they have more than once countered with their own reasoning towards Team MESS instead of just bowing down to them like they're the second coming of Christ. Like duh, they watched Weiss get kidnapped by someone who can erase memories and heal injuries. Of course they're gonna be suspicious when she shows up unharmed! Speaking of which, a lot of people have asked for a 4v4 fight in my PMs, well, guess what, that 4v4 between MESS and RWBY was planned for next chapter!
By the way, about that scene with Ironwood, Ozpin, and Sephiroth. I included this because apparently people have had a hard time buying the idea that Ozpin is perfectly content with 4 random kids claiming to be from worlds that exist in the context of video games in his world. And apparently someone said that Ozpin would normally ask for proof. Which like...sure...I guess? Though I thought I was doing a good job at implying that he knows something's up with Team MESS with the way he speaks. All shall be explained in due time...maybe...
Oh yeah, incase you're wondering what the whole joke was. I did do some research in Final Fantasy 7 lore, as Sephiroth has quickly rose the ranks as one of my favorite characters to play in Super Smash Brothers. And apparently, According to some FFVII guide books, the way Supernova works is that Sephiroth teleports all party members to an alternate dimension, causes the Supernova, and takes them back. Which I guess is why the Status affect thingy happens. Though I'm more than willing to accept that the whole thing might be an illusion as well.
Ah well, that's about it for this chapter. I hope you all enjoyed it, if you have any thoughts, let me know. I'll gladly take any advice I can receive. Espeically about the whole bashing situtation, like I mentioned, I love Team RWBY and don't intend to bash them, I just wanted their dynamic with Team MESS to be interesting.
See you all, next time!
