A/N: Okay. I know I said I was going to wait until "Dark Legends: Preludes and Nocturnes" wrapped up until I started posting more Chapters on this story, but... the first episode of "Chucky" Season 3 just dropped, and was actually kind of decent. And the 10 year anniversary of "Curse of Chucky" is in a few days. So screw it, I'm on Chucky fever this week, might as well drop this one right now.
Anyways, for the timeline, this Chapter will take place immediately after "Andy Barclay: Supernatural Investigator" by PotcFan101. With that, enjoy.
Now Playing: "In The Bed" from Coraline OST
Chicago, 2017
It had only been a few hours since Andy Barclay and Nica Pierce had rescued their niece Alice from the hands of the demon known as Anuboll, and after they had come back from Hell, they decided to spend as much time with her as possible for the rest of the day. Nica, because of how much she had missed Alice over the past four years, and Andy, because he wanted to redeem himself for killing Alice, even if she was under the possession of Chucky at that time.
From there, they decided to make chili just for the three of them, which was ironic given that it was the same meal Nica's family had the night they were murdered by Chucky, but thankfully, none of the bowls had rat poisoning in it, and they had watched one of Andy's favorite movies of all time, "Die Hard", which Nica did have reservations about given Alice was still 8 years old, but Andy had pointed out that Alice had formed a bit of a foul mouth and could kill demons effortlessly, so it shouldn't be a big deal. That, and Christmas was right around the corner, so Andy figured why not (and it is a Christmas film). And the newly-completed family had an absolute blast watching the film, and eating their chili.
But now, it was time to tuck Alice into bed, especially after a long… day? Days? I'm not sure what you'd call that given how time worked in Hell. Anyways, Nica led Alice into her newly set up room, because thankfully, Andy did live in a 2-bedroom apartment and he had originally used the second bedroom as a guest room, but now, he figured Alice could sleep in that room. And Nica went out of her way to set the room up while they were still cooking chili.
"Welcome home, kiddo." Nica said.
Alice took a good look at the room… and it had instantly reminded her of her old bedroom back at her parents' house, and even her temporary bedroom back at Nica's old home. She turned to her aunt with a smile on her face.
"I love it, Auntie Nica."
"Glad to hear it."
With that, Nica walked Alice over to her new bed and the young Pierce was tucked in. But then, Nica had noticed that her niece's expression looked a bit… glum.
"Hey, what's with the long face?" Nica asked. "We've just got you back from Hell, so we should be having our happy faces on, shouldn't we?"
"Yeah… it's just…" Alice murmured, before looking down on her bed for a good 5 seconds.
"There's a part of me that… really misses Heaven."
Nica gazed at Alice after she had said that, starting to have an idea where she was coming.
"When I died, I felt… happy, seeing our family again." Alice continued. "I got to be with Mommy… Daddy… Jill… Father Frank… Grandma… I even met Grandpa for the first time."
Nica started to shed a bit of a tear after Alice had mentioned the names of their late family members. Her sister Barb and their father in particular. The latter solely because Pierce never had the pleasure of meeting him due to him dying before she was born, and the former because of the fact that on the day of her family's murder, she and Barb had a falling out because she was jealous of Nica's "special privileges" with being wheelchair bound. Oh, if only she was still alive right now, so that they could make up for that.
"But now… I'm never going to see them again for a very long time. Now, am I happy to be alive again? Yes. But… I'm just sad that they couldn't be brought back here with me."
Nica then sat on top of her niece's bed.
"Alice… I get it." Nica softly said, touching her face gently. "Being stripped away from Heaven after four years of being with our family… that can be rough, and if I was in your shoes, I'd feel exactly the same way as you, if not even more so."
She then closed her eyes for 2 seconds when she thought back to what Amenadiel, Lucifer Morningstar's eldest brother, had told her and Andy before he died about Anuboll's capture of Alice, before opening them back up, with tears once again swelling up.
"But… They wanted you to be here. You were too young to die, especially since it was under the worst circumstances with you being possessed by Chucky and then having to be killed by Andy just to be free of his control… You deserved a second chance at happiness. A second chance to live and grow, be surrounded by people who love you in the living, and make new memories, and possibly new friends."
"I get that, Auntie Nica." Alice sniffled. "But… I still can't help but miss them."
"That's okay, sweetie." Nica said. "But just remember this: They'll always still be watching over you. And making sure you live the best life that you possibly could."
Alice stared at her aunt for a good 10 seconds, sinking in all of her comforting words… Before finally forming a small smile.
"Okay, Auntie Nica. It won't be an easy process at first… but I will try to be happy for them. And you know what… At the end of the day, even though I'm alive, Heaven will always be in my heart no matter what."
"That's the spirit." Nica said.
And with that, the two Pierces gave each other a big warm hug. But suddenly, a big sound of thunder was heard.
"Do you still feel comfortable here?" Nica asked.
"Yeah. It's just a storm." Alice assured her.
Nica then smiled after she said that, thinking back to the night of their family's massacre four years ago, and at that time, Alice was terrified of storms and would often ask her mother if she could sleep in her bed. And now… she doesn't have that fear anymore. She definitely had changed as a person.
"Alright. Whatever you say, champ."
Pierce then hopped off of Alice's bed and walked over to her doorway, before taking one last look at her niece.
"Good night, Alice."
"Good night, Auntie Nica."
With that, Nica shut the lights off of the bedroom, and then shut Alice's door, and was heading off to bed herself with Andy.
As Alice started to drift to sleep, she thought even more about Nica's words of wisdom. Yes, being in Heaven with her late family did bring her happiness… but in the end, she was glad to be back on Earth with her aunt Nica and now uncle Andy, even though it took being captured by a demon and rescued from Hell to get here. And now, she looked forward to whatever exciting new memories she was going to make in this second chance at life.
And she was definitely going to make the most of it…
A/N: Ahh... this was short and sweet. And just you wait, Alice... you're definitely going to make the most of this second chance at life, especially when we get to a little story called "Andy and Nica: Dark Legends". *winks*
I was originally going to post a darker Chapter that actually would've connected to characters from the "Chucky" TV show, since that show never happened in this series based on events from Potsey's "Soul of Chucky" story, but the last Chapter was very dark already, so I didn't feel like having two dark Chapters back-to-back, especially since they'd only be the very first ones of this filler story. Gotta have some levity, you know? But hey, I'll probably post that one sometime next year, maybe even whenever Season 3 Part 2 comes out.
But anyways, that's it for now. See you guys back on "Preludes and Nocturnes"!
