A/N: Alright, as promised, here I am with more Chapters of this filler story! I figured since Preludes and Nocturnes is finally over, and it'll be awhile before I get started in the next story in this series, I would pump out a bunch of content for this one just to keep ourselves occupied before then. And heck, I'll probably put out some Chapters while the next story is on-going. So from here on out, expect these to release on a weekly basis or at least a bi-weekly basis... assuming my personal life doesn't get in the way again, LOL!
So, this is another one that's been on my mind for a good minute now. And yes... this is another Child's Play Chapter. Don't worry, I am gonna do Chapters centered around the other fandoms in this series starting with the next one after this, but I do want the first few Chapters in this filler fic to feel a bit close to home, if you get what I mean.
For the timeline, this is actually going to take place shortly after Curse of Chucky but before the flashback scene in Chapter 5 of PotCFan101's story, Andy Barclay: Supernatural Investigator. Those of you who've read that story should have some idea where this is gonna go. But enjoy anyway!
Now Playing: Child's Play 2 Main Theme
Hackensack, 2013
Chucky, possessing the body of young Alice Pierce, and his lover Tiffany Valentine found themselves riding in Tiffany's red car in the middle of Hackensack, New Jersey. You see, this town was very special to the possessed killer doll (or… possessed killer little girl?). Why, you may ask? Because this was none other than the place where he was born.
Ah, yes, the nostalgia. All the memories of growing up in this town really started to kick in for Chucky. He remembered growing up in a loving home with two loving parents. He was a normal little boy back then, or so they thought… Then one day, on Chucky's 8th birthday, a serial killer came into town and killed his father, and then Chucky and his mother hid in the closet so that the killer wouldn't get to them.
But all of that wouldn't have mattered as Chucky's mother had gotten killed anyway… by Chucky himself! It had turned out that underneath that innocent little boy was a killer in the making, having been inspired by the Hackensack Slasher's killings. And on that day… was when the legend known as Charles Lee Ray was truly born.
Now… since having possessed Alice's body, Chucky started to feel a bit of a longing to relive his childhood, in his own twisted sense, so he and Tiffany decided to arrive at his hometown.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Tiffany asked.
"Yes, I'm sure, Tiff." Chucky replied with an annoyed tone. "This is all a little kickstarter for our plan to get back at all of the fuckwads that escaped us for the past twenty-five years!"
"And are we still working on the soul-splitting spell?"
"Of course we're still working on the soul-splitting spell! But we gotta do this first. You know… a bit of improvising, like you taught me."
Valentine playfully rolled her eyes at that last comment. Chucky then stared at the ground.
"You know… if you want, we could have a little fun after this." Chucky remarked.
"With you in that body? No thanks." Tiffany scoffed. "As far as I'm aware, you'd be considered underage."
"Fuck, you're right. Maybe I didn't think this whole "possessed kid" thing through." Chucky muttered.
The killer couple then continued their drive across the street, until Chucky finally spotted the perfect house to crash at.
"Stop the car, Tiff!"
Tiffany did exactly as instructed, pulling the engine back. Chucky stepped out of the car with his usual evil smirk.
"Alright, give me about an hour or less." Chucky ordered.
"Okay, and what am I supposed to do?" Tiffany asked.
"I don't fucking know! The same kind of pussy shit you always do whenever I'm at someone's house killing them, like making videos on Vine!" Chucky yelled.
"God, you're such a dick." Tiffany grumbled.
"Well technically speaking, doll, I don't have one." Chucky quipped.
Tiffany stared at Chucky for a good 30 seconds with a bit of a disgusted look on her face, before the killer doll did his traditional maniacal laugh. Man, this is one sick dude, or… girl.
With that, Chucky proceeded to walk his way towards the destined house.
Inside the house, three kids were seen sitting on a couch watching a movie together. They consisted of a girl with blonde hair, a boy with curly hair, and a light-skinned boy, and the film they were watching was the classic 80s horror film, "Slumber Party Massacre".
The blonde girl, Lexy Cross, looked… let's just say not amused.
"Why are we watching this?" Lexy grumbled. "We could easily be watching the series premiere of 'Sam & Cat' right now, but no, we're stuck with watching a stupid scary movie."
"Oh lighten up, Lexy." the curly-haired boy, Jake Wheeler, said. "All we're trying to do is change up the scenery from the usual stuff kids like us are supposed to watch."
"I was hoping that we'd watch 'Cape Fear' but this is fine too." the light-skinned boy, Devon Evans, muttered.
"Yeah, I much rather have watched that than this." Lexy said.
A knock on the door was suddenly heard on the door, causing the kids to turn their heads. Okay, that was weird. Who the heck could be knocking right now, especially since it was 8 PM at night?
"I'll get it!" a woman, presumably Lexy's mother, called out as she rushed at the door.
The mother opened the door and to her surprise… There was a little girl, no older than 8, on their doorstep.
Huh? What was this girl doing here?
"Um… hello? Are you lost?" Lexy's mother asked.
"Yes." the girl weakly nodded. "My parents abandoned me, and no one else will help me."
Lexy saw the commotion, and got up from the couch.
"Okay, sweetie pie." Lexy started, walking up to the girl. "I don't know what your trauma was, but you're at a stranger's house. Your parents have taught you not to talk to strangers, have they? That's like Lesson 101 unless you're a Pokémon or something."
"Lexy!" her mother yelled.
"Just telling the truth!"
"Please… help me…" the girl cried. "The police won't help me either."
"Sorry, but we don't know you." Cross insisted. "Go make someone else your pit party this late at night."
"Give her a chance, Lexy." Jake told her as he and Devon walked up to the scene. "Maybe she is genuinely lost and needs someone to look after her."
"Yeah, Lexy." Devon added. "Try not to be too hard on her, okay."
Lexy stared at the boys for a good 7 seconds, still feeling rather hesitant about letting this random girl into her house… but then sighed as she couldn't think anything to argue with their point.
She then turned to the girl.
"Come on in."
Chucky smiled as he walked inside of the house.
But man… this girl, Lexy… she was quite a little bitch. Kids these days were quite obnoxious.
He missed the days when children were just little balls of naivety and innocence. You know, like a certain whiny little bitch who he couldn't wait to meet again after fifteen years.
But first, this girl worked her way up on Chucky's list pretty fuckin' quick…
Lexy was seen to be sleeping soundly in her room. It had been an hour since that weird little girl had been invited to this house, and Lexy felt nothing but… weird vibes from her.
She kept this innocent-like personality, but yet, Lexy couldn't help but sense something… underneath all of that innocence. The girl almost acted… too innocent.
Could there possibly be more than-
Suddenly, a loud scream was heard downstairs, prompting the 10 year old girl to wake up.
That particular scream sounded so… familiar. Was that…?
Cross stepped out of her bed, and slowly walked out of her room with a sense of uneasiness. But as she was about to make her way downstairs, she noticed her mother's door was cracked open, making her even more uneasy.
She slowly stepped inside of the room, and what she saw absolutely horrified her…
Her mother was seen laying on her bed… with a pair of scissors stuck to her chest. Seemingly dead.
Lexy stared at this sight in absolute shock for a good 15 seconds. What exactly happened here? Who did this to her mother? Did somebody break into the house?
Wait… someone did break into the house earlier. The weird little girl. Oh Gosh… Did she have something to do with this? Lexy knew she shouldn't have invited her in!
With that in her mind, Lexy stepped away from her mother's room and started to slowly walk downstairs.
As she walked closer to the living room, she thought back to the scream that was heard from down here. In a way, it sounded like… like…
Lexy's mind once again was interrupted the moment she finally reached the living room. And from there, she was another horrifying sight.
On the floor was Jake and Devon… also seemingly dead. Jake had his throat slit and Devon had his head bashed in.
Cross once again couldn't believe her eyes as she stared at this. She had known these two ever since kindergarten days, and even though she tended to jab at Jake, that was always in a more playful manner, and the three had been looking out for each other for as long as she could remember.
And now… they were both gone.
As tears shedded down to Lexy's eyes, it was at this moment that her suspicions about that weird little girl became more evident, because she was supposedly sleeping down here with Wheeler and Evans, having nowhere else to sleep.
Just then, she heard something.
No… Someone.
Footsteps.
Now Playing: "The Curse" from Curse of Chucky OST
Before she had any chance to see who was approaching her, Lexy suddenly felt herself being choked to death by a string on her necklace, and then she screamed as she got thrashed around the room.
A maniacal laughter was heard from behind her, but it sounded… familiar.
Lexy turned around and… her suspicions were confirmed:
It was the weird little girl!
Chucky continued to strangle Lexy to near-death, laughing while doing so, until Lexy managed to punch him in the face. The punch made Chucky stagger a bit, and allowed Lexy to escape his grasp and make a run for it.
Lexy ran her way into the kitchen and started looking for anything to defend herself with against Chucky. As she frantically searched around the cabinet, Cross could hear Chucky rushing towards her, which made her start sweating bullets.
Luckily, she had finally found something:
A fly swatter.
Unluckily, Chucky had finally caught up to Lexy and stabbed her on the arm, causing her to scream!
But then…
SWAT!
She retaliated by hitting Chucky with the swatter, causing him to fly across the room and hit the floor!
Lexy stared at Chucky for a good 15 seconds as he laid on the floor seemingly unconscious. Oh, man. Is this girl… dead? Did Lexy unintentionally kill her? I mean, it wasn't like the girl didn't deserve it because she did kill Lexy's friends and her mother, but… still, she was just a kid, and Lexy was no killer.
Cross's thoughts were uninterrupted when she heard a sinister chuckle. Chucky slowly got back up from the floor, and walked up towards Lexy.
"You really think that was going to do anything to me?" Chucky asked mockingly. "I've killed your friends, and now I'm gonna fucking show you why I'm known as the Queen Bitch of Hackensack!"
Chucky stopped for a moment.
"So to speak."
He then cracked his usual maniacal laugh.
But suddenly… Lexy didn't seem unfazed, which just confused Chucky.
What confused him even was that then at that moment, Lexy got really close up to Chucky's face.
What the fuck was going on here? Was this girl… fighting back?
"Uh… are you hearing the words I'm saying right now?"
"I hear you, you psychopath." Cross said. "You got candy canes that go with that knife?"
Chucky just stood there, utterly bewildered. Again, what was this?! All his other victims never fought back since he possessed Alice's body!
"Listen up, honey, you may think you're all tough like that, but I haven't even broken a sweat. See, in the end, you might be a good runner-up after killing my friends and Mom. But that's all you are, just the runner-up. I'm the Queen. You fuck with me, you get me mad, what do you think I'm gonna do to you?"
There was a long period of silence as Chucky just stood in front of Lexy after she had given that speech. And then…
Chucky just dropped his knife.
"Later."
With that, Chucky made his way out of the kitchen, and proceeded to walk out of the house.
Lexy just stood in the kitchen after that weird little girl had left. She felt so much regret for letting that girl in the house, and she did hesitate on doing it, but then Jake and Devon insisted on letting Lexy give the girl a chance, and now… both they and her Mom were dead because of that.
So all she hoped now was that a certain other person living in the house was still okay… and alive.
Suddenly, Lexy heard a small cry, and then turned around to see a 4 year old little girl, around 6 years younger than herself, with tears in her eyes.
"Caroline!" Lexy yelled, running up to Caroline, and giving her a big bear hug.
"Mommy…" Caroline whispered.
"I'm sorry, Care…" Lexy murmured, with tears in her own eyes.
"I want Mommy! I want Mommy! I want Mommy!"
Lexy stared at her little sister with a remorseful face.
"Mom's gone, Caroline. And so are Jake and Devon. But it's going to be alright. Because you're going to have me and Daddy by your side, and I'll make sure nothing like that ever happens to you."
Caroline looked at Lexy for a good 5 seconds as the older Cross wiped the tears off of her face. And then, Caroline proceeded to hug Lexy back and the two sisters embraced each other as they went through this tragedy together.
Back from the outside, Tiffany was seen sleeping in the car as she waited for Chucky to get done with his business when suddenly, the left car door swung open and Chucky hopped back into the car, promptly waking her up.
"Start the fucking car, Tiff!" Chucky ordered. "We're going to kill Andy!"
"Why? How'd it go in that house?" Tiff asked.
"I don't wanna talk about it. Let's just get the fuck out of here!"
Tiffany rolled her eyes, but didn't have the energy to argue with her on-and-off lover, and so, she started the engine and with that, the killer duo were now leaving Hackensack, with Chucky ready to hopefully kill Andy Barclay once and for all.
A/N: So, as you can see, this Chapter featured the debut of characters from the Chucky TV show... and most of their deaths.
In this series, the show never properly took place due to events that happened with Child's Play 8: Soul of Chucky by PotCFan101, which happened immediately after Cult of Chucky. Mainly because Potsey had written that story way before Don Mancini had thought of the show in his brain, and the show first airing long after Potsey ended the original Dark Legends series. And so, in that original series, it could just assumed that the characters from the show simply don't exist. But here, in this rebooted series of mine, since I've started this a little bit after Season 1 aired, I figured they could exist here, especially since Chucky's backstory from the Season 1 flashbacks is still canon.
So I was thinking "what exactly could've happened to the show's characters in this universe?" And then, this idea came to my mind: What if Chucky did meet these guys... but four years earlier than when he's supposed to meet them in the show! And yes, I know the show's implied to take place in 2021-2023, but for simplicity's sake, I'll just assume if it happened here, it would've taken place in 2017 for the sake of my own insanity and sparing us from several headaches!
Anyways, that tangent aside, I thought it'd be really interesting to explore Chucky, during that brief period he possessed Alice, took a nostalgic trip to Hackensack and had an early encounter with the Hackensack Trio. And yeah, I killed off Jake and Devon here, but thankfully, it was all off-screen because I didn't feel comfortable showing it, especially since the first Chapter of this fic already showed that stuff. I used to like their characters (Jake more so than Devon), but the moment they became a couple, they just got really boring, especially with the constant arguing in Season 2 and kind of cringe-worthy kissing. But I did have Lexy survive this as she actually became the most interesting out of the three, which is crazy to say because I initially hated her when the show first started, yet she just grew on me.
Oh, and I know in the beginning of the show, Lexy was a bully to Jake, especially regarding that prank in 1x2, but I have it that here, Lexy is already friends with Jake and Devon before the show kicked off. And who knows, maybe the show itself can reveal in the next episodes of Season 3 that Lexy and Jake were friends at one point before the show's events and perhaps something happened that caused a huge fraction between them, leading to Lexy initially bullying Jake.
But as far as Lexy herself here, I actually kind of made her a bit like the Cordelia Chase of the Chuckyverse, where she is very snarky (evident by her "I'm the Queen" speech which was pulled from Buffy 3x5) but also very compassionate (evident by her comforting Caroline), a bit like Cordy later on in Angel. So, my version of her is somewhat of a mix of her Season 1 self and how she is during the other 2 Seasons. And then, the reason I had this take place right before Chucky/Alice went off to kill Andy was to add a bit more context to his line in Cult about how when victims start to fight back, possessed little girls aren't so cute anymore. Granted, he easily could've easily been talking about one victim (which is Andy in this continuity), but he did add an "s" victim there, so so it could've been plausible that another victim fought back before Chucky went to Andy and got killed in Alice's body, and I had that be Lexy here.
Basically, just consider this Chapter the closest thing we'll ever get to the Chucky show taking place in this series. Which I can take or leave, because it is sort of a mixed bag for me. I really enjoyed the first Season, the second Season kind of sucked, and the third Season is just okay to me so far, but maybe we'll see where things go in Part 2 comes out and maybe it'll turn out to be another good one (fingers crossed!). But I do still have a lot of respect for Mancini as at least he is still passionate about this franchise that he created, even if the installments have been very inconsistent since Seed of Chucky, and he's nowhere as bad as some other people in Hollywood involved in my favorite franchises. *coughs* Joss Whedon! *coughs*
This is definitely going to be the last time I show Chucky-possessed children though, because I don't want this fic to be entirely about that stuff.
So yeah, that's this pretty dark Chapter. But don't worry, lighter stuff is coming very soon, including the next Chapter which will be very Buffyverse-focused. See ya then!
