Hello again everybody!
I'm sure you guys already know/heard about the new bird Melody.
If you don't know about her, I suggest you look it up when you have the time. Any thoughts on her? I might add her into the story, but we shall see. Feel free to share in the comments.
Enjoy the story.
It was the middle of the night as the shattered moon shone over a mountain range near the quiet Kingdom of Vale. While at the top of one of the mountains, a loud battle is going on, although it ended quite swiftly. Several Grimm consisting of Beowolves, Ursas, Griffons and a few Boarbatusks experienced the cruelty of Mistress Gravity before either receiving fatal injuries from surviving the fall or succumbing to their injuries.
A lone surviving Beowolf landed near the cliff of the mountain top from the attack. It roared in anger as it struggled to get back up only to be silenced permanently by a skull-cracking blunt strike.
The mysterious figure, covered only by shadows and darkness, watched as the Beowolf disintegrated, before walking towards the cliff and took some time to gaze at the city below him.
"That's a whole lot of Grimm compared to the number of them in the villages I've saved. This must be the City Of Vale, I wonder if they're here." The stranger said to himself before hopping down the cliff to slide down the mountain, heading towards the city and leaving the remaining Grimm survivors to their slow deaths.
The next morning, Weiss slept peacefully in her bed, the morning sun shining brightly into the dorm through the open window. She pulled herself up slowly with a yawn, eyes flickered open having awoken from a rather peaceful slumber…
Only to have a whistle blown loudly at her face, causing Weiss to fall out of her bed and into the floor with a yelp.
"GOOD MORNING, TEAM RWBY!" Ruby greeted enthusiastically, already fully dressed in her Beacon School uniform.
"What in the world is wrong with you!?" Weiss exclaimed while still being on the ground.
"Now that you're awake, we can officially begin our first order of business!" Ruby declared.
"Excuse me?" Weiss questioned as she got up and brushed herself off.
"Decorating!" Yang replied, holding a cluster of items such as pillows and pamphlets in her arms. She and Blake were also dressed in their school uniforms.
"What?" was Weiss's only reply.
"We still have to unpack." Blake explained as she held up her suitcase, which accidentally opened and spilled all her contents over the floor. "…And clean."
Weiss' eyelids lowered due to lack of enthusiasm, only to be blown back by Ruby's whistleblowing once again.
"Alright! Weiss, Blake, Yang, and their fearless leader Ruby have begun their first mission! Banzai!" The young silver-eyed girl cheered while raising her fist into the air.
"Banzai!" Yang and even Blake cheered as well, while Weiss only lowered her head.
The four girls immediately began to decorate their dorm room. Yang began to hang up posters of boy bands and movies, Weiss put up various portraits along the walls, after having gotten dressed in her school uniform. Blake put all her books in a bookshelf, making sure to keep the others from seeing her precious book that is called Ninjas Of Love. Ruby tried to adjust the curtain around the window with her Crescent Rose, only to accidentally slice it with her scythe blade.
It appeared to be finished, only for the four girls to wince at just how tightly packed their room was. Between the beds, furniture, and all their decorations, there was no room to walk, they couldn't even see the floor and their beds were all literally piled on top of each other.
"This… isn't going to work." Weiss pointed out.
"It is a bit cramped." Blake agreed.
"Maybe we should ditch some of our stuff?" Yang suggested.
"Or we could ditch the beds…" An idea came to Ruby's mind. "And replace them with bunk beds!"
"That sounds incredibly dangerous." Weiss said.
"And super awesome!" Yang pumped her fist.
"It does seem efficient." Even Blake seemed to agree with the idea.
"Well… um… we should put it to a vote." Weiss suggested.
"I think we just did." Ruby said as Blake put a thumbs up, Yang made a double-rocker gesture, and Weiss angrily curled her fists at her side, giving the bunk bed option the majority.
So with some reluctance, Weiss assisted her newly formed team in constructing the bunk beds. Though it appeared to be done in surprising record time, neither bed appeared structurally sound. The bed on the right was supported by a stack of books on each leg, while the other was tied to the ceiling with rope and a sheet to act as a drape.
"Objective complete!" Ruby said, seemingly pleased with their work.
"This is not structurally sound!" Weiss stated. "What if one of them collapses?! That could kill someone!"
"I may have to agree." Blake said. "It was a good idea Ruby, but we could probably do better."
"Yeah, we'll probably need to get someone to help later." Yang noted.
"Okay…" Ruby accepted. "But right now, our second order of business… classes." She said that last part with much less enthusiasm as she took out her schedule book. "Now, we have a few classes together today, at nine we've got…"
"What?!" Weiss suddenly exclaimed. "Did you say nine o' clock!?"
"Um…?"
"It's eight fifty-five, you dunce!" Weiss shouted before she ran out of the dorm and into the hallway to get to class, alerting the newly formed Team JNPR that resided in the room across the hall.
"Um… t-t-to class!" Ruby tried to save some face as she, Yang, and Blake ran out to catch up with Weiss.
"C-Class…?!" Jaune stuttered in panic as he tried to run out as well, only to trip and fall, but fortunately Pyrrha was there to quickly pull him up. "We're gonna be late!" He said before running after Weiss with Nora, Pyrrha, and Ren running after their leader.
(Elsewhere, while Teams RWBY and JNPR were busy running off to classes.)
Jim opened the door of their dorm, and stepped out in his usual attire, followed by Jay who was busy brushing his hair with a green comb and Jake came out last to close the door, before the three headed to one of the dorms nearby.
As they arrived at the dorm, Jay noticed that the door of the dorm was slightly opened.
"Um…why is the door open?" Jay asked his brothers with caution.
"Let's find out!" Jake said without a care as he gently swinged the already opened door wide open and walked inside, followed by his brothers.
Inside the dorm, the brother's eyes set upon a medium sized rectangular wooden table with various books and blueprints strewn on the table in the middle of the room. Near the window, which was also in the center of the room, was a large light green wooden workshop bench with various tools lying around, along with The Flock's weapons piled on top of each other. The workshop also has a small potted plant for decoration.
On the left side of the room, was another large wooden rectangular table, although the table is white and it is way larger than the wooden table. On the left side of the white wooden table has numerous books stacked on top of each other with an opened book explaining about Aura, while the right side of the table was more stacked books, an empty orange mug and a large currently inactive computer, along with Silver sleeping on the table next to the keyboard.
"Wakey wakey, cheese and bakey! Rise and shine, Silvy!" Jake said to the sleeping Silver in a sing-song fashion while slowly rocking her awake.
"Mm…I'm…not a…student…" Silver whined in her half-asleep state as she slowly raised her head away from the table and leaned on her chair with her eyes still closed until her eyes suddenly flickered open and locked eyes with the staring blue triplets.
"How did you guys enter here?!" Silver yelled in surprise.
"You left the door open." Jim explained briefly while Jay moved the door in front of Silver for emphasis before helping Silver to close and lock it.
"Damn it…" Silver cursed softly to herself as she grabbed the mouse on the desk and shook it across the desk, causing the three computer screens to flicker to life.
Once the computer was awake, Silver made a few quick clicks to review the footage of the cameras that she had installed some hours ago.
"Whew, no one entered." Silver breathed a sigh of relief as she slouched back on her chair again after reviewing the footage. "So, what do you guys want?"
"We're curious about your progress." Jim replied. "Cool lab by the way!" Jake and Jay exclaimed as they walked around the place.
"Technically, it's more of a workshop but it works too. I'll tell you guys about my progress later. I've just woken up." Silver told The Blues.
"What do-" "You want-" "For breakfast?" The blue triplets asked as they headed for the door.
"Something small and light will do. Wake up the others while you're at it." Silver replied as she got up from her chair and walked to the bathroom of her workshop before The Blues went out of the workshop to head to the cafeteria.
(Some Time Later…)
"These doughnuts are not bad." Silver remarked after tasting the doughnuts that The Blues bought back from the cafeteria.
"Alright, first things first. After some discussions with Ozpin last night, I've managed to settle on which rooms we are getting." Silver said as she opened a computer file containing the dorm room plan of The Flock, the image has four squares with names Dorm 1, Dorm 2, Dorm 3 and Workshop respectively with some of The Flock's name on each of the squares.
"Red, Chuck, Bomb and Hal will be occupying this dorm 1, also known as the Men's dorm. You three will be occupying this dorm with Bubbles in the Kids dorm, the girls and I will be in this dorm as the Ladies dorm while Terence will be residing in my workshop."
"Is it because he is too big?" Jim asked.
"In a way, yes. But the actual reason is that Terry usually prefers to sleep alone, and I don't think the school's beds can support Terry's weight. I'm also sure that Terry wants to know more about Remnant, so he can use the workshop's computer for that." Silver explained.
"How long did it take you to set up all of this?" Jay asked.
"Around two hours for the woodwork, four hours for the tweaking of the computer and scroll that Opzin was kind enough to provide, since my technology skills are a bit rusty. And finally one more hour for the analysis of the weapons before I fell asleep." Silver answered.
"Speaking of weapons analysis, here's what I've found so far." Silver said as she used the computer to open another file containing various 3D models before opening up another file which showed a 3D model of Red's sword which the file was named, "Red Justice" before she went to the workshop bench and moved The Flock's weapons and her scroll from the workshop table to the computer table, with help from The Blues.
"I'll start with Red first." Silver started by taking out Red's sword. "Sadly I found nothing interesting in it. It's just a regular but cool looking sword. But I'm planning to add some upgrades to it later." Silver said as she sheathed Red Justice back into Red's black sword carrier.
"Why is Red's sword named Red Justice?" Jim asked.
"Have you forgotten that Ozpin told us that we need names for our weapons?" Jake reminded his brother.
"Oh yeah."
Silver chuckled at the brother's conversation as she took out Chuck's nun chucks next.
"For Chuck's weapon, it utilizes Chuck's movement such as his fast spinning of his nun chucks to generate the electrical "rope" of his weapon, in which it stores the excess charge."
"Does this mean that Chuck can just keep swinging and swinging as long as he keeps moving?" Jake asked.
"Yes, kind of like a feedback loop." Silver said as the computer showed a 3D model of Chuck's nun chucks called "Thunderbolt".
"Chuck's weapon also had a "second mode"." Silver said with a smirk as she combined both of the nun chuck sticks together and pressed a button, emitting a long electrical rope-like projection out of one end of the combined nun chuk.
"Woah! An electrical whip!" The Blues squealed with awe before Silver turned off the electrical whip and separated the sticks.
"Also, it seems that the further the distance between the nun chuck sticks, the longer the electrical rope will be. I'm not sure of the maximum length, but I'll stress test it when I have the time." Silver remarked as she put Thunderbolt on the table.
"Next is your weapons, in which you guys named them "Triple Trouble"." Silver said as the computer showed three similar 3D models of the weapons.
The weapon design of your weapons is kinda cool and impressive, since all you need to do is to just pull the plunger like you are aiming and release the plunger to fire an energy arrow, like a simple bow toy."
"Your weapons can even "shrink" so that they can be carried around easily." Silver continued as she pushed the plunger deep into one of the bows as both limbs of the bow folded and collided with one another before she handed the bow back to Jim and did the same for the other brother's bows.
"To activate your weapons, just open both limbs of the bow and the plunger should pop out immediately, ready for use." Silver also told them.
"Lastly, my bracelet blades." Silver said as the computer showed a 3D model of her activated bracelet blades. "I'll call them, "Stormfall". Just like Red's weapon, it's nothing fancy, but the plasma blades are rather light and cut through metal extremely well, perfect for some projects I have in mind."
"I hope we can find the others soon." Jay said.
"Yeah, I sure hope so." Silver said while nodding to Jay's remark. "You guys know about Dust, right?"
"Yup, Ozpin told us about it." Jake said as he nodded his head.
"From my research, most Huntsmen use it with their weapons. So far I've only managed to understand the basics. I'll need some time before I can implement it as upgrades to our weapons, although I've found out that it has one pretty major flaw."
"A major flaw? But isn't Dust the source of energy for this planet?" Jake asked with confusion.
"Yes, but the flaw is similar to non rechargeable batteries. It's a one-time use." Silver answered.
"Once the energy is exhausted, it's rendered inert, which means it's useless now and there's no way to restore its energy. I could find a way to allow Dust to be reused, but I'm going to need more time to analyze and study it."
"Alright boys, I've shared enough info, I've got things to do here." Silver said as she walked to the door and opened it for The Blues to walk out.
"Aww! Can't we stay here for a little longer? Please?" The Blues pleaded with puppy dog eyes.
"Sorry guys, no can do." Silver said as she shook her head. "But...if you do something for me, I might change my mind…"
"Name it." The Blues said briefly with a challenging glare.
"Help me return Red and Chuck's weapons and give this to Ozpin." Silver said as she held up a thumb drive in her hand.
"Deal!" The Blues said in unison as Jake grabbed Red Justice, Jay grabbed Thunderbolt and Jim swiped the thumb drive away from Silver's hand before the three brothers sped off.
(Elsewhere…in a lecture hall to be more precise.)
"Monsters! Deeemons! Prowlers of the night! Yes, the Creatures of Grimm have many names." Professor Port began to lecture his class. "But I merely refer to them as 'prey'." He attempted a jest by a few laughs but got no response from his class. If anything, he just woke Ruby up from her nap of being bored by his story.
"Uh… and you shall too, upon graduating from this prestigious academy." Port continued. "Now, as I was saying… Vale, as well as the other three Kingdoms, are safe havens in an otherwise treacherous world. Our planet is absolutely teeming with creatures that would love nothing more than to tear you to pieces. And that's where we come in, Huntsmen, Huntresses…" He winked at Yang at that last term, causing Yang to roll her eyes in annoyance. "Individuals who have sworn to protect those who cannot protect themselves. From what, you ask? Why, the very world!" He announced dramatically.
"Yeah!" Only one student cheered, which only received stares from the other students, causing him to sink back into his seat embarrassed.
"That is what you are training to become." Port continued. "But first, a story. A tale of a young, handsome man…me!"
As he began to monologue his own personal story, Weiss glanced to her left to see Ruby apparently writing something on a blank piece of paper.
She was somewhat surprised at Ruby apparently taking notes at this otherwise boring story, but even more surprised at Ruby's snickering.
It was revealed that Ruby had drawn a funny picture of Professor Port: a ball with limbs and a head in a poor drawing of the teacher with stink lines coming from him along with "Professor Poop" written underneath. Ruby blows a quick raspberry, causing Blake and Yang to laugh at Ruby's antics, but Weiss looks slightly annoyed as she glares at Ruby. A slight cough got their attention, focusing back on Port who began to wrap up on his story.
"In the end, the Beowolf was no match for my sheer tenacity. And I returned to my village with the beast in captivity and my head held high! Celebrated as a hero!" He bowed, signaling the end of his story. "The moral of this story is that a true Huntsmen must be honorable, dependable, strategic, well-educated, and wise."
As Port continued to lecture, Weiss glared harder and harder at Ruby, who didn't even appear to pay attention to the lecture. If anything, she seemed more interested in her childish antics, which seemed to piss her off even more.
"So, who among you believe themselves to be the embodiment of these traits?" Port asked his students. In response, Weiss raised her hand in a flash.
"I do, sir!"
"Well then, let's find out." Port said as he turned toward the side of the room where a cage containing a Grimm was stationed. "Step forward and face your opponent."
After taking the time to get changed into her Huntress outfit and quipping her weapon, Weiss made a combat stance, pointing Myrtenaster at the growling cage.
"Goooo Weiss!" Yang cheered.
"Fight well!" Blake also cheered while waving a small flag that had RWBY written on it.
"Yeah! Represent Team RWBY!" Ruby also cheered.
"Ruby! I'm trying to focus!" Weiss scolded her leader.
"Oh… Um, sorry…" Ruby apologized sheepishly while she sank back into her seat.
"Alright, let the match…begin!" Port said as he used his own weapon, Blowhard, to cut open the cage, setting loose a Boarbatusk Grimm inside that immediately charged at Weiss, who swiftly rolled out of the way to slice at its side, but the Boarbatusk's armored hide protected it as the Grimm turned around to face Weiss once more.
"Ha, ha. Wasn't expecting that, were you?" Port said to the heiress.
"Hang in there, Weiss!" Ruby cheered.
Weiss used a Glyph to shoot herself forward at the Boarbatusk as it charged at her, but it swung its tusks, catching Myrtenaster and tried to swing Weiss away as she lost her footing. But she quickly regained it as she tried to pry her weapon free with the Boarbatusk struggling against her.
"Bold in your approach, I like it!" Port observed.
"Come on Weiss, show it who's boss!" Ruby continued to cheer, but this distracted Weiss, as she glared at Ruby, causing her to lose her grip on her sword, which the Boarbatusk threw away with its tusks before knocking Weiss back.
"Oh-ho. Now what will you do without your weapon?" Port asked.
Weiss gasped as the Boarbatusk charged at her, but she dodged and rolled out of the way just in time as the Grimm slammed into the wall behind her before she made a break to retrieve her weapon.
"Weiss! Go for its belly!" Ruby told her. "There's no armor underneath-"
"Stop telling me what to do!" Weiss yelled, causing Ruby to lower herself again.
The Boarbatusk roared before rolling into a ball and spun towards Weiss at high speed, but she conjured a Glyph to break its advance, knocking it on its back. She leapt into the air where a second black Glyph was conjured to propel herself at the downed Grimm, impaling it through its underbelly and killing it.
"Bravo! Bravo!" Port clapped and nodded as Weiss took a moment to catch her breath. "It appears we are indeed in the presence of a true Huntress-in-training. I'm afraid that's all the time we have for today. Be sure to cover the assigned readings and stay vigilant! Class dismissed!"
As the class ended and the students began to leave, Ruby couldn't help but look with concern and worry at Weiss, so she got out of her seat and went after her.
"Weiss!" Ruby called out to the heiress after managing to catch up to her in the hallways.
"What?!" The heiress glared.
"What's wrong with you?! Why are you being-?!"
"What's wrong with me?!" Weiss questioned. "What's wrong with you?! You're supposed to be a leader! And all you've been so far is a nuisance!"
Ruby scoffed. "What did I do?!"
"That's just it! You've done nothing to earn your position!" Weiss told her.
"B-But what about in the forest with Chuck and his friends?" Ruby asked. "About, you know, us starting a professional relationship?"
"Well perhaps you should act professional! Take this seriously!" Weiss argued. "If that's how you intend to lead this team, then I'm not sure I want to be a part of it. I studied, and trained, and quite frankly, I deserve better." She turned around with her arms crossed. "Ozpin made a mistake."
As she walked away, Ruby looked down, a strong sense of hurt filling her being. She was about to walk away before…
"Wow, I didn't know she was that cold."
Ruby turned around the corner to see the Blues looking at her with a concerned expression.
"W…What are you guys doing here?"
"Come on Ruby, I feel like we need to have a little talk." Jay motioned for Ruby to follow them.
As Weiss made her way outside onto a balcony to get some fresh air, she happened to stumble upon the professor of her previous class watching the sunset.
"Professor Port!"
"Ah, Miss Schnee." The professor turned to greet her. "And to what do I owe this fine pleasure?"
"I…I enjoyed your lecture." She told him.
"Of course you did, child. You have the blood of a true Huntress in you." Port said.
"You really think so?" Weiss asked with a hopeful smile.
"Most surely." Port confirmed, but he also noticed her small frown and lack of eye contact. "Hmm, something's troubling you."
"Yes, sir." Weiss said with a small nod.
"Dear girl, confess to me your strife." He encouraged her.
"Well, I think I should have been the leader of Team RWBY." Weiss said outright.
Port had listened to what she had to say, and had a response set immediately. "That's preposterous."
"Excuse me?!" Weiss questioned.
"I've believed in Professor Ozpin for many years, and the man's never once led me astray." Port said.
"So, you would just blindly accept his decision, even after seeing how exceptional I am?" Weiss questioned again.
"With all due respect, your exceptional skill on the battlefield is matched only by your poor attitude." Port remarked.
"How dare you!" Weiss exclaimed in fury.
"My point exactly." Port nodded. "I see a girl before me who has spent her entire life getting exactly what she wanted."
"That's not even remotely true." Weiss said, briefly looking away as she noticed Port raising one of his eyebrows slightly at her. "Well… not entirely true."
"So, the outcome did not fall in your favor." Port continued. "Do you really believe that acting in such a manner would cause those in power to reconsider their decision? So instead of fretting about what you don't have, savor what you do. Hone your skills, perfect every technique, and be not the best leader but the best person you can be. Try to keep an open mind about the rest of your teammates, you may find out that there's more to them than meets the eye."
As she thought about all this, a small smile formed on her face. "Thank you, sir."
Meanwhile, The Blues had led Ruby to a rooftop where the two could speak in a more private setting to avoid any potential eavesdroppers. Ruby had told them what had happened in her class, and they listened to every word.
"Damn, Snow White is a little stubborn in her own right." Jake commented.
"Was she right though?" Ruby asked. "Did Ozpin make a mistake in making me the leader?"
"I don't know…" Jake said. "You've only been the leader for a day."
"You haven't even done any serious missions yet." Jay added.
"And your team was just formed recently." Jim said. "Seems a little too early to be unsure of yourself now."
"But what if I make a mistake on a mission?" Ruby began. "What if something happens and I…?"
"Woah!" "Woah!" "Woah!" The Blues suddenly shouted, surprising Ruby.
"Stop right there, sister." Jim began. "It's good if you wanna think and plan ahead, but every action has a positive and negative consequence, whether or not it is good or bad. If you keep thinking like that, you'll notice that everything that you do would lead to a potential screw up and you'll soon be overwhelmed by it. Just know that there are some things that are not within your control, but it doesn't mean you can't adapt and fix it, as Red would say: We do what we can, we manage what we cannot. "
"Although Weiss acted rudely towards you, she did make a point. You're the leader of a team, and that's a pretty big responsibility that you gotta take seriously." Jake remarked.
"Have you guys been a leader before?" Ruby asked.
"Nah, Red's our leader. It wasn't put on an agreement or a vote, it just kinda happened." Jay said, remembering the time of Red getting everyone in order to retaliate when the pigs stole their eggs for the first time.
"Anyways, being a leader in a team doesn't mean you have to call the shots. It means to be there for your teammates." He told Ruby.
"Look at our team. Red guides and organizes the team, Chuck can make quick decisions and brings out the best in others, Bomb's the strength, my bros and I have a bag of tricks and Silver is the brains. Each of us contributes in our own way and we have many different ideas, some of them can actually yield better results. There's a reason our team name is "The Flock". Like an actual flock, we stick together, we talk to each other, we listen to each other, we guide each other, we give suggestions to each other and we compromise with each other. Never be afraid to ask your teammates for help if you need to cuz it's part of the learning and bonding process with your teammates.. If you can't do any of those that I mentioned, you'll have a poor relationship with your teammates and your team will soon fall apart like a poorly made building"
Ruby had listened to every word The Blues had to say, and it did make sense. They really did sound like they spoke from experience. Weiss may be stubborn and mean to her, but she did say she studied and trained, she was also older than her, so she probably had more experience than her. Maybe asking her for help and advice might be beneficial.
A smile formed on the girl's face. "Thanks guys… that really helps."
"You're welcome." "That's what-" "Friends do." The Blues said.
"Hey, speaking of friends, you said Silver was the brains of your team, right?" Ruby asked. "Does she know anything about building bunk beds?"
"Let's-" "Find-" "Out." The Blues said in unison.
(Night)
Ozpin sat in his office once again as Chuck hopped up through the back window and dashed to skid in front of his desk. "Something-on-your-mind-Ozpin?"
"Yes, though I was expecting your friend Red. And you could have simply come in through the front door." Ozpin told him.
"Red's-a-little-busy-with-something, so-here-I-am. And-I-thought-that-you-would-leave-the door locked-at-night."
"I do leave it unlocked, all you need to do is knock." Ozpin said. "Anyways, I believe I may have an idea of where your other comrades might be."
"Really?" Chuck asked with curiosity.
"Yes, I have received reports of multiple robberies across the Kingdom of Vale." Ozpin explained. "According to the criminals and witnesses, the robberies were thwarted rather swiftly by a "Performing Traveler" who spoke rather strangely."
"Interesting…" Chuck said while tapping his chin. "Thanks for letting me know, I'll pick him up."
"Do you even know where to go?" Ozpin asked.
"With-my-speed, I-can-sweep-the-entire-city-in-seconds. I'll-just-follow-the-sound-of-fighting." Chuck said before running out the window. "Later!" He gave a finger salute as he fell backwards and ran down the side of the building.
Ozpin got up to see a trail of yellow dashing through the grounds of his academy before leaving the perimeter, heading in the direction of the city of Vale.
"I don't know if I'll ever get used to that." Ozpin said to himself as he sat back on his own chair and took a sip of his mug.
As Weiss entered her team's dorm. She was surprised to see the bunk beds they hastily constructed earlier in the morning now appeared far more stable. They weren't just stacked on top of each other or being suspended by ropes on the ceiling. The bed legs are now fixed with wooden legs nailed together professionally, and the beds even have a ladder so that the person sleeping on the top can get to their top bunk without any hassle, making them look like actual bunk beds.
She noticed Yang and Blake sleeping on the right bunk with the latter at the top and former on the bottom. Weiss saw a sheet draped over the top bunk of the left bed where Ruby most likely was, with a soft light emanating from it. Climbing the ladder as silent as possible before lifting the drape, Weiss wasn't surprised to see Ruby asleep, but she was surprised to find her asleep with a pencil in her hand and papers and textbooks scattered around her, as well as an empty coffee mug. "Had she been studying this late at night?" Weiss thought to herself.
Weiss gently nudged Ruby awake, who was startled by the heiress' sudden appearance. "W-Weiss! I… I was studying, and then I fell asleep and I…" The younger girl was stopped when Weiss covered her mouth with her hand.
"How do you take your coffee?" Weiss asked, removing her hand from Ruby's mouth.
Ruby looked somewhat confused at the question. "Uh… I… I don't…"
"Answer the question." Weiss insisted.
"Cream and five sugars!" Ruby quickly said, making sure to stay quiet enough to not wake up Yang and Blake.
"Don't move." Weiss told her, grabbing the coffee cup and going to a nearby coffee maker to quickly prepare a new cup and handed it to her. "Here."
"Um, thanks Weiss…" Ruby said with appreciation and confusion.
"I… noticed the bunk beds seem a little more secure now." Weiss said. "Did you fix them up?"
"No, that was Silver." Ruby answered.
"The girl who's friends with Red, Chuck, Bomb and The Blues?" Weiss asked.
"Yeah. She's wicked smart," Ruby told her. "Maybe smarter than all the teachers here at Beacon combined. And you were right about the bunkbeds being a hazard so… I asked her to fix it up. She also told me that we should meet her tomorrow during lunchtime. She wants to show us something."
Weiss smiled and nodded her head before speaking in a professional manner. "Ruby, I apologize for my earlier outburst. I did say back in the Forest that we'd start with a professional relationship. On that note, I think you have what it takes to be a good leader, and I promise to be the best teammate I can be."
Ruby returned the smile. "And, I promise to take this job seriously, and to listen to anything you might have to say. I don't mind compromising."
"Good." Weiss nodded. "With that in mind, your answer right there is wrong." She pointed to something Ruby wrote on her notes. She got down and began to walk out, but stopped at the doorway. "Oh, and Ruby…" A small child-like smile formed on her face. "I always wanted bunk beds as a kid." She said before closing the door.
Ruby then turned back to focus on her studies with a happy grin. Maybe things could work out between them after all.
(City of Vale)
The mysterious figure seen in the introduction of this chapter is now inside a Dust shop as he is currently browsing some magazines, trying to look for some answers, and since there are lights in here, we can now finally see what he looks like!
He wore a long black cloak with a dark green hood. He also wore a long-sleeved shirt and long pants that are white along with a brown belt and dark green shoes.
"No answers…" The man quietly muttered as he picked up another magazine before taking a quick look at the various Dust on display and their price tags before continuing his reading.
Just as he was reading, the shop door burst open as six thugs entered the store, the same guys with black suits along with red ties and sunglasses. "Don't move a muscle." One of the thugs said as he pointed a gun at the frightened shopkeeper as the rest of them emptied the store's Dust. Just as another thug was about to grab some more Dust, he saw the hooded figure in the distance.
"Put your hands where I can see them!" There was no response, for the hooded figure was deep in his thoughts.
"Hey, I said hands in the air! You got a death wish or something!?" He said as he walked towards the figure and forced the figure to turn around as the figure's hood dropped to reveal a man with green hair as he looked at the thug with confusion. "Can I help you?" He asked.
"I said, put your hands in the air, now!" The thug threatened.
"Are you…robbing me?" The man asked.
"Yes!" The thug shouted.
"Oh."
All six six thugs were thrown out through the glass window of a large Dust shop, causing them to crash into three black vans that were parked outside. All the vans opened up to reveal several more thugs, all wearing the same black suits with red ties and sunglasses. They looked toward the broken window to see the mysterious green-haired man standing in front of them.
"Get him!" One thug ordered as the other thugs charged forward, carrying weapons such as machetes, pocket knives and even guns.
"Didn't your parents tell you not to play with guns?" The mysterious man mused before whipping out two dark green pistols and fired them at all of the thugs' hands, causing them to drop their weapons and become defenseless as the stranger spun his body rapidly, forming a large tornado that sucked all of the thugs and their weapons in and launched them up high.
The man stopped spinning after some time to watch the sky raining of scrambled men and weapons before glancing to see the remaining goons retreating into a van and driving away.
"Oh no you don't." The man muttered as he unleashed a rain of fire, scoring multiple hits on the rear tires of the van, cutting the escape short before throwing one of his guns towards the vehicle, knocking out the remaining thugs by the back of the head as they tried to foolishly escape from the van and run on their own two feet.
As the spinning pistol returned back to his hand, the man pulled back his hood to reveal his short green hair and gazed at the "mess" that he just made. "Now what in tarnation are these guys stealing?" The man muttered to himself as he walked towards one of the cases that the thugs have and opened it slowly to reveal a rainbow glow of various Dust.
"First these expensive looking crystals are sold at cheap prices, now people are stealing them? Why?" The man asked himself as he closely inspected a red Dust crystal that felt a bit warm to the touch.
"That's because these are not just simple crystals."
The man turned around to see Chuck, cross armed, staring at the crystals with him.
"Chuck! Good to see you mate!" The man told him as he placed the red Dust back in its case before closing it.
"Good to see you too Hal, Do you like what Remnant has to offer?" Chuck replied.
"This place called Remnant? That explains the broken moon. Hal said as he pointed to the shattered moon. "And nein, this place hasn't caught my interest yet. Where are the others?"
"We can't find Terence, Bubbles, Matilda and Stella. But the rest, including me, have a base of operations. Follow me, I'll tell you the rest on the way." Chuck answered before dashing off, with Hal doing the same as police sirens can be heard getting louder and louder.
(Beacon Academy, Next Day)
While most of the students were in the cafeteria having their lunch, Teams RWBY and JNPR brought their lunches to Silver's lab as Silver told them that she wanted to show them something. At the same time, in Ozpin's office, The Headmaster sat quietly at his desk, sipping from his mug before pressing a button on his scroll to activate a hologram projector that shined three holograms of the three other people across the room.
(Silver's Lab)
"Where's Red and your other friends?" Ruby asked as she placed her plate of a 4 foot pile of cookies onto the tables that Silver arranged for the teams next to her older sister.
"The Blues and Red are testing out something of mine, and Chuck went out for a jog." Silver said as she stared with astonishment at Ruby's cookie pile.
"What about me?" Bomb asked while pointing to himself.
"You just met our new friends, so you're here to know them better, along with them knowing you better." Silver explained.
"And speaking of knowing each other, I'm sure you guys have a lot of questions to ask us, like where we come from, right?"
(Flashback)
"You are Silver, right?" Ruby asked Silver as The Flock and their student friends walked out of the Emerald Forest and headed back to Beacon.
"That's me."
"You guys come from another world like Red, right?" Ruby asked again.
"Yep." Silver nodded her head.
"Then what are you and Bomb doing in the forest?" Ruby asked again.
"It's kind of a long story…" Silver replied.
"I'll tell you when we have the time. When are you free?"
"Um...maybe the weekend?" Ruby said.
(End Of Flashback)
"Oh…we….um…kinda forgot about it…" Ruby said with a sheepish smile.
"Apologies, but we have also forgotten the purpose of your invite." Pyrrha also said.
"No worries, at least all of you are here now. I'll explain where we come from first."
Silver said as she took out her scroll from her pocket and pressed a few buttons for a holographic globe of Earth to emerge from a projector on the floor (that Silver built) in front of teams RWBY and JNPR. Whether they are surprised by the sudden appearance of a large hologram or surprised by what Earth looks like, I'll leave it up to you.
The teams studied the hologram of the globe and found out they do not recognize any of the countries. It looks nothing like Remnant and there were many rectangular pictures in the continents.
"What kind of map is this? This isn't what the continents look like at all." Blake observed.
"That's because this is the map of Earth, a planet similar to Remnant." Silver explained.
"Wait…You guys are aliens?! Like from another planet?!" Yang exclaimed in surprise with Blake and team JNPR staring at Silver and Bomb, while Ruby and Weiss said nothing since they already knew the basics.
"In a way, yes. We are from another dimension." Silver said.
"What are all those?" Jaune pointed to a white rectangle with a blue cross.
"Those are flags of countries. The flag that you are pointing to is the Finnish flag of Finland." Silver answered.
"As you guys can see, Earth looks very different from Remnant. Earth has many countries with their own cultures." She continued as a hologram map of Remnant popped out to show a comparison of Remnant and Earth for the teams to observe.
"Now that I think of it, Remnant's map seems like someone took a look at a stained napkin and called it a map." Silver thought out in her heart before pressing a few buttons on her scroll again to close the map of Remnant and Earth and opened a large 3D model of a certain island.
"Why does this island's mountain resemble a pig?" Pyrrha asked as she noticed Hogs Head Mountain.
"That one over there looks like a scrambled egg!" Nora exclaimed as she pointed to Desert Island.
"This is Piggy Island, where we come from." Bomb explained.
"And this is us." Silver said as she placed a photo on the table showing Red and The Flock in their original form, along with the eggs in their comfy nest.
"No way!? You're all birds?!" Ruby exclaimed as the teams took a good look at the photo.
"What kind of birds are you guys?! You guys don't even have wings!" Yang exclaimed.
"Awww! The Blues look even cuter than before! Who's that small orange bird?! What about the big red fluffy looking one?!" Nora squealed loudly as she looked at the photo.
"How do you turn from this to that?! Better yet, If you're all birds, then how are you guys not Faunus?! " Weiss asked.
"Guys, settle down. I'll answer your questions one by one once I've introduced my friends to you guys first." Silver said as she opened a few files of the flock.
(Ozpin's Office)
"Gentlemen." Ozpin greeted his fellow Headmasters with a nod, which they all returned in kind. "I trust that you've received my report."
"We have, and I have to say Oz… this is straight up crazy!" Theodore exclaimed. "Aliens?! If it weren't for these recordings that you showed us, I'd call you insane!"
"I've also found it rather difficult to believe at first, assuming it was an exaggeration. But as Theodore pointed out, you've shown us recordings of this 'Red' and his own team fighting alongside your first-year students in the Emerald Forest." Ironwood reported.
"T-These beings…" Lionheart looked the most nervous among the other headmasters as he pulled up his own scroll to look at the data again. "We've never seen anything like this before… The red one's ability to have supersonic screaming is one thing… but the black one was able to hold back a Goliath with only his bare hands! Are you certain they don't have Semblances?!"
"I know it is incredibly difficult to believe, but I have seen it for myself." Ozpin told his colleagues. "I even attempted to unlock Red's Aura, and while I did sense a soul from him, I was unable to manifest anything. A being who possesses a soul while not having Aura? Even though I have never seen anything like that before, I do believe this confirms the existence of worlds beyond our own."
"It would seem so." Theodore replied. "Tell me Oz, what do you make of these guys?"
"Red appears to be the leader of this group." Ozpin began to explain. "Based on his interactions with the students in the Emerald Forest, he has a bit of a violent personality, and yet he also carries a calm demeanor, facing off against a large number of Grimm without losing his composure. He also displays great leadership. As for his companions, Silver appears to be the most intelligent of the group, making sound and reasonable theories while also being open-minded to learning new concepts. She is also able to make various buildings such as furniture, security cameras and even the informative data that is shared with all of you.
Chuck is able to make fast decisions for his team, which is something that I envy. According to Silver, His new max speed record is mach 3."
"That has to be an exaggeration." Ironwood commented.
"I thought so at first, but Silver showed me proof that he is capable of it." Ozpin said as he opened a video clip to the headmasters showing Chuck in the Emerald Forest breaking the sound barrier while a device that is shaped like a camera used by professional TV studios showing a reading of 3704.4 kilometers per hour with Silver shouting out, "Well done Chuck! That's a new record!".
"I wonder if he can go even faster than that." Theodore commented.
"Silver is trying to evaluate that as we speak." Ozpin replied. "On to the next member of the Flock, Chuck seems to be brash and reckless thanks to his speed, often getting himself in danger many times by rushing in without any strategy, although it seems to work for him and he does show a little maturity, helping others realize their own potential. The Blues are quite similar to Silver. Despite their young age, they are able to make ideas, although their ideas are more of pranks and...how do I put it?...unique but effective. They also seem to possess excellent teamwork."
(Silver's Lab)
"Their pranks may seem a little crazy, but it has helped them and us several times before." Silver explained.
"Wanna introduce yourself, Bomb?"
"Eh, why not?" Bomb said as he took a step forward.
"Hello everyone. Bomb's the name, Demolitions my game." He said while taking a bow.
"What makes me a good Demoman? If I were a bad demoman, I wouldn't be here talking with ya now would I?"
"How are you able to explode without injuring yourself?" Nora asked as she raised her hand.
"Allow me." Silver replied. "Someone that I know has hypothesized that when he is usually angered, His body conveys shockwaves thoroughly, so that the energy chemical compounds produced in his body by the food he eats, releases in the form of explosions that do not affect him at all, but rather anything in his blast radius, hence the explosion."
"Can you repeat it again, but in english please?" Jaune pleaded as he tried to shake off the stars spinning above his head.
"We are already communicating in english, yellow boy." Silver told Jaune with a raised eyebrow.
"Excuse me?" Jaune asked with even more confusion.
"Oops, apologies. Your name Jaune means yellow in French, a language on Earth."
"I'll explain to him. We'll catch up later." Ren said as he turned to Jaune to repeat Silver's words.
"Alright then." Silver said as she turned back to the girls. "In the meantime, I'll introduce the rest of you to our other friends that are currently missing in action, but most likely ended up in Remnant as well." Silver continued as she opened another file on her scroll.
(Ozpin's Office)
"Currently, some of Red's friends are nowhere to be seen." Ozpin said to the other headmasters as he showed files of the remaining flock.
"So there is Matilda, a white colored bird that has bomb powers. Stella, a pink colored bird that has acrobatic skills like Silver, and Bubbles, an orange colored kid with a sweet tooth that can forcefully expel threats close to him." Ironwood recalled.
"Don't forget Terence, the big red guy. One of the largest and the strongest among the group. His face even looks frightening." Theodore mentioned, with Lionheart silently nodding to Theodore's comment.
"There's also Hal." Ozpin added. "A green coloured bird that is capable of spinning rapidly to form a tornado. Since The Flock in Beacon wore colored clothes based on their natural feather colors, it's safe to assume the others will be as well. If you see any of them, please notify me immediately, especially with their enemies that have come with them."
"Ah yes, the Bad Piggies." Ironwood said with a serious expression.
(Silver's Lab)
"So you and your friends arrived in Remnant in pursuit of the "Bad Piggies" by using a portal that can travel through space?" Pyrrha asked.
"Yes, but don't underestimate them. They are called bad for a reason and they happened to build that exact portal that brought Silver and I here." Bomb said with a serious expression.
"W..What exactly did they do?" Ruby asked with a bit of uneasiness.
"A lot of stuff actually." an unknown male voice entered everybody's ears, although the two birds at heart recognised that voice immediately. "But to make it short and simple for you kids, they are mostly mean, mischievous, rude, dirty, greedy, stupid and steal resources for themselves." Hal continued as he stepped inside Silver's Lab.
"Hal?! Did you just arrive here?" Silver asked him.
"Nah mate, I arrived in Beacon last night, didn't Chuck tell you guys?" Hal asked only to see Silver and Bomb shaking their heads.
"I see. But anyways Chuck told me to see you, so I'll wait for you guys to finish your chat with the kids."
"Alright, you can sit here." Silver said as she pointed to the stool next to the workshop table.
"Now where were we…." Bomb said to himself as he turned back to the kids. "Ah yes, the pigs! Those guys like to eat our eggs, resorting to a lot of schemes and strange contraptions, like the portal Silver mentioned." Bomb added.
"But isn't Piggy Island their home? Why can't they eat other food?" Ren asked.
"That's the neat part, they don't. Someone I know already tried persuading them to no avail." Silver answered.
"As for how my friends and I turn from birds to humans…I honestly have no idea." Silver continued with a shrug. "All I know is that the purple portal is a wormhole that can travel through space and even grants transformations. Bomb and a few others experienced it before."
"What was space like?" Yang asked Bomb.
"Beautiful, and I got a cool new look to go along with it. Although said look is way different then this." Bomb replied simply.
"Is there a chance we can go too?" Ruby asked with anticipation.
"Sorry, only a friend and the pigs can only do that, but I'll ask him if I see him." Silver said to a slightly sad Ruby.
(Ozpin's Office)
"Ozpin, I want a serious answer. What are the chances they may become involved with… her?"
Ironwood's question caused the temperature of the atmosphere to drop to the extreme. Lionheart shivered like he had a major cold while a grim expression formed on Theodore's face as his fists clenched. Ozpin remained silent for a moment to think before he finally spoke.
"Honestly James, I'd say that is an extreme possibility."
"D-Does Red and his friends… know about her?"
"No, I have not told them." Ozpin replied.
"Do you plan to?" Ironwood asked.
"Maybe… but not right now." Ozpin answered.
"Maybe this isn't that bad. Based on what we've read, it doesn't seem like their leader is the type to share power. He might see her as a threat to his own kingdom and try to get rid of her. Heck, with so many followers, maybe they can overwhelm her home turf! If he gets rid of her for us, that could make our job so much easier!"
"Theodore, while I do see those two coming to blows with each other as a likely outcome, it may not bode well for the rest of us." Ozpin said. "We all know what she's capable of with the Grimm at her command, and with an army like King Pig's, an open war between those two could put millions of lives in the crossfire, it could even destroy all of Remnant. Therefore, I do not believe the "wait out the storm" option is the best choice for us."
"Fair point." Theodore acknowledged.
"So, what do we do then?" Ironwood asked.
"For the moment, The Flock and Qrow have no lead on where they might be or what they are currently doing." Ozpin began. "And we don't know for sure how she will respond to this. So, at the moment, I believe our best option is to let King Pig show his hand.
"So…we just do nothing?!" Ironwood questioned.
"No, we will prepare." Ozpin replied firmly. "I urge you all to inform your closest confidants of the situation and tell them to be ready. We will wait and let King Pig make the first move, once he shows his hand and we have a better grasp of what he has at his disposal, we'll then best decide how to proceed."
Ironwood took a moment to collect himself. "I suppose that is our best and only choice, then. Alright. I'll contact the Ace Ops and Specialist Schnee right away. If needed, I'll have the military deployed."
"I-I will get in contact with my friends too." Lionheart stuttered slightly.
With that, Ironwood and Lionheart's holograms vanished, leaving only Theodore's.
"Something the matter, Theodore?" Ozpin asked.
"Oz, you know I trust you… but are you sure it's wise keeping Red and his friends in the dark about her?"
"Looking at all of these files, they've dealt with worse. If they know, and with all of us working together, we might be able to finally get rid of her!"
"While I hold out hope for that, old friend… we have to remember that her greatest strength is not her power; but her cunning, her manipulation." Ozpin said. "I don't know if Red and his friends can outwit her, which is why I have yet to tell them. Perhaps I may, but I need to see more of their inner characters before I make that decision."
"I see…" Theodore said as he nodded his head. "Like I said, I trust you. I just hope you know what you're doing." His hologram vanished, leaving Ozpin alone in his office once more.
Ozpin leaned back in his seat to massage the bridge between his eyes. Just like all the times before, it was never so simple. And now, with the arrival of The Flock and The Bad Piggies, his task just became increasingly more complicated. But all he could do now was to wait and observe.
"Looks like things are shaping up into an…interesting year." Ozpin told himself.
Done!
Sorry if the story took a long time to be published, I have to focus on examinations for the time being. But since I've finished my exams, I could focus on the story again.
As always, if you have any questions, feedback or error highlights, feel free to leave one in the comments, I might reply back to you here.
Now, let's see what's the next episode I have to work on next… Oh, it's "Jaunedice".
This should be fun.
Have a good night y'all.
