Thank you all again for your comments that really keep me motivated to finish it up. Sorry it's coming late today but between work, the kid and my frakking paper for grad-school I feel really really overwhelmed. Here's part 2 of "jaelousy". I tried to proof read myself but the words are swinging in front of my eyes so sorry by advance and I'll proof read it better during the weekend.
Day 26: "Honestly, why would I care?"
To say that Sharon wasn't impressed with Andy's behavior was the least. She couldn't understand what had gotten into him tonight. He had never acted like that before, possessive and jealous. He had even been rude, borderline toward poor Judge Grove. The more she thought about it, the less she understood it. They had spent countless nights out, at the restaurant or at the movies, with his family or hers, with their friends or the squad. Never had he treated like that, his hands on her all the time, like if he wanted to show everyone she was his possession. He even shared intimate details about their life together, embarrassing her in front of their coworker. That was unacceptable. She had to get to the bottom of it.
Like always, he trotted in front of her to open her door. She took the opportunity. "What's going on, Andy?" She asked, her voice harder than she intended.
He tried to move back but she grabbed him by the tie. Holding him on a short leash, she got up and met his eyes, demanding an explanation without having to word it. "I don't know what you're talking about." He grumbled, trying to avoid her gaze.
"Oh really?" Her voice raised despite her best efforts. "You've been an ass, Andy, all night all or did you not notice? Because trust me, Andy…"
"Ok…" He interrupted her.
"I'm not done." Her voice rose even more, her anger getting the best out of her. "How could you act like that? In front of so many people? How could you be so rude to Judge Grove?!"
He crossed his arms in front of him. "Honestly, why would I care about your good friend the judge?" He asked, his hands moving widely. She didn't ever have to answer before he continued. "Oh of course Miss Denial didn't notice that her old pal is hitting on her." Seeing her astonished expression, he added. "Well, wake up Babe. He wants you and he wants you bad!"
She sat back in the car, surprised and more than a little taken back by what he just implied. "You're kidding, right? We've known each other for decades. He's been married for decades."
"Good Lord, Shar, stop being so naive. You can't see that a guy wants you before he offers you his dick on a silver platter? The guy is going to end up in your pants and you won't see until he's right up in your vagina. You're a fucking detective, for fuck's sake!" He yelled, his face red, his arms batting the air around them.
"You don't need to be so crass, you know." She retorqued, blushing furiously.
"God, you're so… so… in denial sometimes Shar. Trust me, he's hitting on you and you didn't do anything to refrain him."
"He did not!"
"Oh he did so!" He calmed down suddenly, worried and fascinated. "Did you really not notice how he's looking at you? How he touched you at every chance he got?"
She looked at him surprised. "He touched me?" She made a little circle movement with her index finger.
"You didn't feel his hands on your tight while we were sitting? His hand on your back when you came back from the bar?" He was getting more and more worried. How could she not notice that? She usually had such a large bubble. Well, not with him, not since a long time. That thought drained his blood out and he felt so lightheaded he had to lean against the car. She had let him touch her back. She had let him hold and caress her hands when they walked side by side. They had even kissed, on the lips, a few times before she acknowledged they were an item.
"He really did that?" She asked in a small voice. She could see in his eyes where his mind sent him. She was quite in the same place but for a different reason. She had also felt a certain attraction to Andy. She had always enjoyed having him close and had never minded his tactile nature. She had missed being touched for such a long time before he came into her life. But for the Judge to touch her… And for her not to see it, it was something else altogether. She wondered what other things she missed. She wondered if Andy's closeness had brought her to move down her guard and not mind the touches.
She moved out of the car, grabbed his head between her hands and brought their lips together. "I'm sorry my love. I'm so very sorry. I don't care for him, well I do…" She, once again, did what Andy liked to call her "cute little awkward gesture" with her hand. "I love you, Andy. There's no one else I want in my life. I'll set him straight. I don't want any misconception on his part. He's not you." She said sweetly with a wink.
