Last of the prompts' prompts. This one is for "M6ur33n" who asked for Andy and Sharon with Nicole stepchildren for Halloween. Hope you'll like it ;)
Day 29: "That's all? Easy."
Andy was just starting to emerge from their long decadent afternoon nap. He was still spooning a sleepy Sharon Raydor, her head on his left arm and her naked body deliciously warm against his. He dropped a single kiss in her neck before reaching blindly behind him for his phone. He squinted at the screen, his vision blurry from too much sleep and was surprised to see his daughter's name on it.
"Hey Sweetheart." He greeted Nicole, waking Sharon while doing so. His soon to be wife rolled on her back and they rearranged themselves so her head now rested on his chest. He combed his fingers through her silky hair as he listened his daughter speak. "No, it's no trouble, no trouble at all." He met his love's eyes and shrug, trying to convey how puzzled he was. "No, yeah, Sharon's with me. I'll let you know later, she just woke up." Sharon rose her head and furrowed her brows. "Nicole asks if we can come to her place tonight and bring the kids trick or treating. Her mother was supposed to do it but she's sick." Like on springs, Sharon sat on the bed excitedly, shaking her head yes, eyes shining with happiness. He chuckled both at her eagerness and at his daughter's innuendo about their nap. "That's all? Easy. Let us get ready and we'll come in one or two hours, if that's ok…"
He barely had time to hang up that Sharon was already up and going through their closet for a costume. He stayed where he was, enjoyed seeing her so carefree. The view of her naked body was a nice bonus. "Oh I know." She said suddenly, pulling his black pinstripe costume and his purple shirt. "We're going to dress as Gomez and Morticia Addams!"
He had to admit the idea of calling her "Cara Mia" or "Querida" was very appealing. So was the prospect of seeing her in a tight fitting dress. He would have dress in anything though, so happy he was to get a chance to spend a holiday, even if it was halloween with his grandkids.
Nearly two hours later, after a trip to the drugstore down the condo building to buy temporary (and not so temporary in Sharon's case) black dye and coloring their hair, Andy and Sharon (soon to be) Flynn rang the bell at Nicole's place. Jason, his oldest grandkid opened the door and froze. He looked at the couple in front of him, moving his gaze from one to another a couple times before asking "Grandpa? Nana Sharon?" Andy took pride in his dumbfounded look and, putting a hand on Sharon's lower back, invited her to step in the house.
Lying on the sofa like a stranded whale, was a very pregnant Nicole. She tried to sit up a little bit more upright and started to laugh as soon as she saw them. "Oh my God, look at you guys!" With his eyeliner drawn mustache and his raven black hair, her father was really a sight. Sharon, her, was more tamed, in comparison. Her hair was darker and arranged quite differently than usual but her dress was far from as eccentric as Morticia Addams's ones. She was beautiful, they were beautiful. She felt a pang of remorse for not having asked them in the first place, she knew how eager her father was to spend time with them. And she knew he try so much to compensate for his past that he would never ever let her down except for a major cataclysm.
"How are you doing?" Asked Sharon, kneeling by her side. Closer, she could see the older woman wore much more makeup than usual, highlighting her green eyes.
"Oh you know. Ready to pop…" The truth was she was tired of being bedridden and was quite worried about having still two months to go. She had been having contractions since her second trimester and now was afflicted with high blood pressure and early stage pre-eclampsia. She tried to hide her worries but could tell her future step-mother saw right through her, unlike her mother.
"I know it's long, Honey. Trust me, soon you'll have a healthy baby in your arms and all of that won't matter anymore. In fact, you won't even remember it." She handed her a tote bag. "In the meantime, your father and I brought you distractions: two easy to read books, magazines, things to draw …"
"And chocolate." Added her father with a blink.
Emotions got the best of her and Nicole looped her arms around Sharon's neck, reached her father's hand and squeezed it. She wanted to thank them, she wanted to apologize, again, not to be able to attend their wedding next week because she so wanted to but … "Let's go, Grandpa, Nana! If we don't go now all the good treats will be gone."
So the 4 of them walked out of the door. It was a windy and chilly night. "Cara Mia." Called Andy while holding Sharon's jacket out for her. She snuggled into the woolen coat and his embrace. Moving her hair from underneath the collar, he took the opportunity to kiss her neck. Gagging sounds made them pull apart. "You want to go get Candies or you want to be rude and we stay here?" Asked Andy, trying to be firm but failing miserably.
"You're too old to kiss, anyway." Said Tim, arranging his cardboard made buildozer around his body. The two adults exchanged a knowing look but did not respond. Sharon held her hand, palm up and Andy took it, dropping a kiss inside her wrist. "Hey, Jason, wait for me, you know I can't run with that. And Nic said not to make them run either because they're so old they might have a heart attack."
Jason stopped in his tracks and walked backward making bip nip sounds. When his grandparents and his brother were at his side, he asked. "How do you catch bad guys if you're too old to run?"
"Can you jump and climb fences like in Fast and Furious?" Asked Tim, jumping around and moving his hands in a claw-like fashion.
Sharon looked at Andy, amused. "You know, we're not that old." She hesitated to add that she ran more everyday than their step-mother before her pregnancy but decided against it. "You remember when Grandpa Andy got into an accident?" Both kids shook their heads yes. "He was trying to catch a very bad lady and he jumped on her car while she was driving it."
"Yeah but he fell." Said Tim, grimacing. "Because he's too old."
"You know Granny fell down in her bathtub and the fireman had to go and get her, and she was all naked." Jason made a face, disgusted by the idea. "She had to have a surgery because she broke her hip and now she's like a robot and she rings when she takes the place." He took his grandfather's hand. "You should be careful, GrandPa."
Andy didn't know if he should be touched by his sollicitude or appealed by the fact that he compared him to his elderly great grandmother. Sharon snickers made him laugh but gave him a good reason to poke her in the ribs. He didn't get to say anything as they arrived at the first house. The two kids climbed the porch steps two by two and rang the bell. Tim turned to them while waiting for the door to open and explained. "Miss Tricia is super beautiful but she likes girls. She's super nice though and always has the coolest candies." The two adults couldn't help but laugh at the weird but oh so childish description.
The door opened revealing a tall blonde woman. She gave the boys candy while asking about their mother's health. Sharon and Andy waved her hello politely, both feeling slightly out of place and practice. Jason pointed at them: "This is our GrandPa Andy and Nana Sharon, they're not married yet but they live together. Sister Marie-Therese at school doesn't like it too much but Dad and Nicole say it's ok nowadays to try the marchandise before getting hitched." The three adults shared a look before bursting out laughing. The kids look at them, puzzled. "They don't look like it dressed like that but they are police officers and they catch bad guys all the time. But they don't run." Tricia was wise enough not to ask about the running part and wished them a good hunt.
Hours later, snuggled in front of a movie, in their pajamas, eating candies Nicole gave them out of the kids bags, Andy was still snickering at the kids' mischief. "I've never felt so old and so proud." He said, laughing, to his future wife.
"Oh we're not old, Cara Mio." She purred in his ears, nipping at his earlobe. She reached into his pants and found him ready. "Let's prove them wrong." As she got up and offered him her hand. "Just be mindful of not breaking your hip." She laughed before running towards the bedroom, Andy on her tracks.
