AN: Thank you, everyone, for your suggestions on hero names last chapter. Some were pretty good.
By the way, parts of this chapter were inspired by ss3dj's fic "Green Tea Rescue", particularly chapters 17 and 18. It's a really good fic and you should check it out. I have permission from the author to do so.
"Boss, please! I can explain! Just give me a chance-"
*POP*
The grunt didn't receive any mercy, his body popping in a gory fashion for the twelfth and final time. The one responsible, a young man known as Overhaul, let out a disgusted sigh.
"What a mess," he grumbled as he scrubbed his hand vigorously to remove the filthy remnants of his former grunt. If he couldn't even do the bare minimum of watching a single little girl long enough for her to run out of the compound, and then somehow lose her, he was better off dead. "Someone clean this up. And bring me a towel and alcohol wipes."
"Y-Yes, sir!" The men scrambled for the requested items. None of them wanted to be the next target of Overhaul's wrath, especially since the girl was gone.
Nearby, the one called Chronostasis stood still, feeling that even moving so much as a millimeter could set Overhaul off. He knew that, outwardly, Overhaul appeared calm, but if one looked closer they can see that the yakuza boss was close to going ballistic. The way he had taken his time in ripping apart the grunt, and then putting him back together, just so he could kill him again and again, was proof enough.
"How soon can we find her?" Chisaki demanded.
Kurono was quick to answer. "We just sent word to our contacts. It could take a day or two before we get word back, but we don't have enough pull in the police to get any records of missing children."
Chisaki sighed, as he found a chair and took a seat, wiping his hands and arms with the disinfectant a grunt had just given him. "There was a time when the yakuza had so much more influence than we do now. We used to have the police eating out of the palm of our hands. Now? Now we're lucky to even get scraps."
"So what do we do now? If we can't find Eri soon…"
"Without her, we only have a limited number of bullets we can test, and even fewer we can sell," the latest bullets were able to take away one's Quirk for about a minute, which was a drastic improvement from the original 2 seconds, but there were only about a dozen of them. "I still have plenty of material left over from my last session with her but we'll have to ration it. I want to save as much as possible in case I make a breakthrough in my research in the short term."
"Short term? Does that mean you have a plan on locating the girl?" Kurono asked.
"It's nothing foolproof, but I want you to spread word about a reward on any information about Eri's location, doubled if someone brings in the girl herself. Spread this as far as you can, doesn't have to be with just our normal contacts. Just be careful that the heroes, police, and especially the Port Mafia don't get wind of it."
"I'll make sure it gets done."
Chisaki leaned back, looking up at the ceiling. "Good. That girl is the key to our success. I want her back. I don't care what it takes. And I'll make damned sure whoever's keeping her from me pays."
At the police station, Izuku, Ibara, Rias, and Ochako sat in an office, All Might standing by and Detective Tsukauchi writing down the teens' account of what happened.
"Is there anything else you can recall? Anything suspicious from before or after the girl appeared?" He asked them.
"No, nothing really stands out," Rias answered, the other three having similar answers.
"Um, Detective Tsukauchi, if you don't mind me asking, how's Eri?" Izuku asked. "Has she woken up yet? Is she alright?"
"She's still asleep," the detective answered. "She's already being taken to a hospital so the doctors can run some tests. Once she's had a chance to rest, we'll be able to figure out how to help her… And know the extent of any wounds she may have."
"What's going to happen to her?" Ibara asked.
"Once she's been examined, the police will likely find a foster home to take custody of her for a short while until her parents can be located," All Might answered.
"I promise we'll make sure she gets the best care, and we'll also begin an investigation into what happened to her," Tsukauchi added.
Izuku, Rias, Ochako, and Ibara were all grateful to hear that. "Is there anything else we have to do?" Rias asked.
Tsukauchi shook his head. "Everything is taken care of. The girl is in good hands now, so none of you need to worry. I will give you a call if there's anything you need to know. Don't worry."
With the last of the paperwork filed, the four were free to go.
As the four exited the station, the sun had already set, they released a breath they didn't know they were holding in. "This has been a long day," Rias said.
"Yeah," Izuku nodded, knowing that his mom was probably panicking by now.
"Izuku! There you are!"
Izuku blinked. "Wait, mom-GAH!" Inko didn't waste any time rushing to her son and hugging him tightly.
"Are you okay? I was so worried about you!" Inko, on the verge of flooding the streets in tears, didn't let Izuku go.
"We're fine," Izuku answered. "I told you over the phone that we're okay. What are you doing here?"
Inko let go and took out a hankie and dabbed at her eyes, "I know, I was just worried about you. I just wanted to be sure you were alright."
"We're fine, Inko," Rias reassured. With that, the five left and made their way back to the Midoriya apartment, with Izuku filling his mother in on what exactly happened.
As he did so, Ibara and Ochako walked beside Rias, Ochako asking, in a hushed tone, "Did you know Izuku had All Might's number?"
Rias nodded. "I had a feeling he did. The reason why is a bit… complicated."
"Complicated?" Ibara parroted.
"I promised Izuku not to say anything until he's ready, so until then please don't dwell too deep into this, okay?"
The next day everyone in the Midoriya apartment were finishing lunch when they received a phone call from Detective Tsukauchi. The detective didn't say too much over the phone, having summed it up by saying there had been a few complications with Eri.
He asked if the they and Inko would be able to come to the hospital and meet with him. They immediately agreed, much to the detective's relief.
It didn't take long for an officer to arrive to pick the five up and take them to the hospital Eri was staying at. There, they found Tsukauchi along with a doctor. "What exactly is going on Detective?" Inko asked. "You were so vague over the phone. Is the little girl alright?"
"As I said over the phone, there have been some complications in our investigation," Tsukauchi explained.
"Did you at least find anything on her?" Rias asked.
Tsukauchi shook his head solemnly before answering. "No. No missing child reports were filed about a child that matched her description. In fact, no child matches that description period."
Izuku's eyes widened in shock as he realized what that meant. "You mean…" Izuku began with a slightly trembling voice. "She doesn't exist?"
"Legally, no, as far as we can tell," Tsukauchi frowned. "We were hoping a blood test could help, but she's been… uncooperative."
"Uncooperative how?" Rias asked.
Tsukauchi sighed. "She's… terrified of doctors. When she came to, Eri was scared of the officers with her, but managed to talk to them a little, but when one of the doctors came in she was terrified, to the point she tried to run," Tsukauchi explained. "We tried to explain to her that the doctors and nurses weren't going to hurt her and wanted to help, but whenever one got close she would panic."
"We've considered using anesthetics or bring in someone with an anesthetic Quirk to help calm her down, but decided against it since we have no idea how anesthetics of any kind could affect her," the doctor added. "We eventually had me disguised as a cop so I could examine her without much trouble, but it was still tricky. She would flinch every time I reached for any of the medical equipment. And after seeing her scars, I can't exactly blame the girl."
"Scars?" Ibara repeated.
"We found signs of abuse. Extreme abuse. Those bandages hid multiple scars," Tsukauchi revealed.
"Abuse is… putting it lightly," the doctor jumped in. "Those scars aren't from random beatings. They're methodical. Almost surgical in nature. Whoever she escaped from was experimenting with her," the eyes of the four teens and Inko all widened in horror. "They've been cutting tissue out of her. And somehow putting her back together. But badly. Her skin looks fine, but underneath, her muscle and bones have scars and fused tissue. Whoever did this either doesn't know, or more likely doesn't care, how to heal her right… She's young and we can treat her, but if this had gone on even a few more years, she would have been in agonizing pain for the rest of her life. And that's just her arms. We weren't able to get a scan of her torso."
Inko closed her eyes as she repressed a shudder. Ochako shook her head, not wanting to think about what kind of horrible person could hurt such a small girl like that. Ibara covered her mouth, on the verge of tears that Eri endured such horrid things. Rias paled considerably, seemingly on the verge of throwing up. Izuku felt his stomach twist in revulsion while his hands clenched in anger.
"Can you… examine the wounds. Maybe get a clue from them about who was hurting her?" Rias asked once she managed to keep down her lunch.
"Even if she wasn't afraid of us, that would be pretty difficult to do," the doctor answered.
"We can't do much if Eri continues to act like this," Tsukauchi added. "That's where I was hoping you four could help."
Izuku, Rias, Ibara, and Ochako glanced at each other before turning back to the detective, "Us?" Izuku asked. "How come?"
"Well, multiple times throughout our questioning and examinations Eri asked, 'where the four nice people were?' When we asked her who she meant she described the two as, 'the green fluffy one with warm hands, the lady with the pillow chest, the plant haired girl, and the girl with pink cheeks.'"
"Pillow chest?" Rias repeated, looking down at her chest.
"My hair isn't fluffy… is it?" Izuku asked the girls.
"Well…" Ibara hesitated to answer.
"She was asking for us?" Ochako asked, getting back on track. "She was only awake for a few minutes after she ran into us."
"And in that time, you left quite an impression on her," Tsukauchi smiled. "You all showed her more kindness in a few minutes than she likely ever received in her life. She trusts you."
The four looked at one another, each nodding before Izuku turned his attention back to Detective Tsukauchi, "What do you need us to do?"
Tsukauchi smiled. "I'd like for the four of you to go see her. I'd like to see if your presence will keep her calm while we finish our last few questions. Do you think you can do that?"
The four teen devils didn't hesitate with their answer. With their consent, and making sure with Inko, Tsukauchi led everyone to Eri's room. Yet there didn't appear to be anyone inside.
"I don't see her," said Rias.
"Did she run away?" Izuku asked.
"No," Tsukauchi shook his head. "We have the room monitored. She's just hiding under the bed again."
"Again?" Ochako asked as she peered inside.
"As I said, she's very scared of the doctors here."
"Can she see us?" Ochako asked.
"It's a one-way observation window," the doctor answered. "We didn't want to upset her anymore if she knew we were watching her."
"Is there… is there anything you want us to do when we go in?" Izuku asked.
"Just be yourselves. You've already shown her kindness. Just do so again," Tsukauchi replied.
Nodding, the teens were about to head in. Before they went in though, Izuku noticed someone missing. "Hey, where's Ibara?"
Looking around, the group now noticed that the vine-haired devil had disappeared. "Where'd she go?" Ochako asked.
"Sorry," Ibara suddenly appeared around a corner… Carrying a small basket of fruit. "I thought Eri-chan could use something to eat, so I went to the cafeteria and grabbed this."
Tsukauchi nodded. "Good idea. She might be getting hungry now."
With that, the four teens walked into the room, closing the door behind them. Aside from the machines and being overly clean, the room could pass as a child's playroom.
Making their way to the bed, they could hear a small whimper coming from under the bed. "Eri-chan, are you there?" Rias called out as she, Izuku, Ibara, and Ochako knelt down next to the bed.
"Eri, there isn't any reason to be afraid," Ibara spoke quietly.
"Yeah," Ochako nodded. "We met the other day when you ran into Izuku. Do you remember?"
The soft whimper quieted some and there was a little more shuffling, "The nice people?" Eri's voice was barely above a whisper, but the teens could hear her.
"That's right. My name is Rias Gremory."
"I'm Izuku."
"I'm Ibara."
"And I'm Ochako."
Izuku slowly put his hand out, not reaching under the bed, but leaving up open for Eri to take, "Would you like to come out? We'd like to see you." It was a few more seconds before Izuku felt a small hand reach out and take his. Looking down, Izuku gently closed his hand around Eri's, and helped the little girl come out from under her bed. He never pulled or tried to hurry her, he made sure she got to move at her own pace.
They all smiled at Eri as she stood up and looked up at them.
She was wearing a fresh hospital gown now, not the tattered rags she had on before, and the dirty stained bandages she had been wrapped in were gone, letting them see just how badly she had been scared along her arms and legs. They did their best not to let the shock show. Eri looked at each of them carefully. "Izuku. Ibara. Ochako," she then looked to Rias. "Rias… Granola?"
Rias was flabbergasted, while Izuku, Ibara, and Ochako tried not to laugh.
Their amusement died down, though, when Eri began to talk. "I didn't know where you were. When I woke up all these people were around me asking me questions, then the scary people kept poking me and I… and I…"
"Shh, shh, it's okay now," Rias reassured.
"Do you want something to eat, Eri-chan?" Ibara asked, offering the basket of fruit.
Eri hesitantly looked at the assorted fruit in the basket, each so colorful and strange. But there was one thing in the basket that caught her eye. A bright red fruit with a small brown stem at the top of it. An apple.
Eri reached out for the fruit and looked at it with fascination. She had seen apples before during her…time with him. But they were always brown and mushy. This one looked so bright and red and completely solid. Opening her mouth, Eri took a big bite of it and her eyes completely lit up. It was so juicy and sweet.
Izuku and the girls laughed a bit as Eri completely lost herself to the apple and happily ate it. "Guess we know she likes apples," Izuku said as Eri took another big bite from the fruit.
For the next 15 minutes, the five of them simply ate the fruit. Eri got to try all the other fruit Ibara had brought and enjoyed each and every one of them. Although nothing could beat that apple she ate.
Outside, Tsukauchi watched in amazement as he saw that, in a matter of minutes, the teens had made a connection with Eri while none of the social workers, nurses, doctors, or officers could. "A little kindness can go a long way, huh?" Inko commented, smiling. Tsukauchi nodded in agreement.
Believing this might be the best time to question the girl, Tsukauchi lightly tapped on the door, getting the attention of everyone inside. "I'll get it," Izuku offered.
Before he got up, Eri reached out and grabbed hold of Izuku's hand. "Are you leaving?"
"No, I'm just going to see who's at the door," Izuku replied.
Eri looked troubled but let Izuku go, "Just… no scary people in the masks please."
The four teens shared a look, and then glanced at the large mirror. Izuku smiled down at Eri, "No scary people in masks." He said. Loud enough that anyone on the other side of the one-way glass would be able to hear her.
Walking up to the door, he cracked it open and peered outside, seeing Tsukauchi's face. "Detective," Izuku greeted.
"Sorry if I spooked her," Tsukauchi said. "Do you think she can answer a few questions, now?"
Izuku glanced over at Eri, who was currently playing with some of Ibara's vines, to the girl's discomfort. "Eri?" He called out, getting all their attention. "There's someone here that would like to talk to you. Is that okay?"
Eri looked over at Izuku then towards the three girls, "We'll both be right with you. You don't have to worry." Rias reassured.
"…Okay."
With her consent, Izuku opened the door to let the detective in. "Hello, Eri," Tsukauchi greeted. "My name is Tsukauchi."
Eri blinked as she tried to pronounce Tsukauchi's name. "Tsu…kimchi?"
The detective smiled in amusement. "Let's just go for Mr. Detective."
Eri nodded.
"Eri," Tsukauchi continued, "I'd like to ask you some questions."
Nervously, Eri glanced around. Izuku reached over and took her hand into his while Ochako sat down next to her, "It's okay Eri. Both of us will be right here with you."
"O…okay."
"So Eri-chan, where are you from?"
Eri flinched a bit when Tsukauchi asked her that, but with some hesitation, the girl answered. "Underground…" She said quietly.
"Underground? As in your house was underground?" Tsukauchi asked, writing down Eri's answer. "Do you know your address?"
"No…"
"Do you know where your mommy and daddy are?"
"…M-Mommy left."
"And your daddy?"
"…I don't know."
Tsukauchi asked a few more questions, but Eri was only able to give vague answers or none at all.
"Eri, can you tell us about the 'Bad Man' who was chasing you?"
Eri looked away from the officer, pulling her knees up to her chest.
"The doctors said you were having some very bad nightmares last night. Were they about him?"
Eri shuddered and pulled herself into a tighter ball. Izuku gave her hand a squeeze, "We're here for you, Eri."
"He's right," Rias added. "We won't let anything happen to you."
Slowly, Eri relaxed some. She kept herself balled up, but she wasn't ready to bolt anymore. When she spoke she kept her head down and her voice was quiet, with an almost tangible fear behind it.
"The Bad Man… Kai… he's always looking. Looking at me… looking in me…" Eri's fingers brush along the many scars that ran across her arms. "He takes… parts of me and then puts me together again… It always hurts."
'Kai? I feel like I've heard that name before.' Tsukauchi thought before he continued. "Can you describe him to me? Tell me what he looks like."
Eri shut her eyes as she went quiet again. Her body started to shake and tears started falling down her cheeks. Tsukauchi was about to tell her she didn't have to try and force herself to remember, but Eri finally said, "He has… a long… pointy mouth that he took off when he wore his… his mask to look into me."
"He took off…" Tsukauchi trailed off as he wrote down that detail, glancing back towards the glass with a raised brow. "When you say mask, do you mean like the ones the doctors are wearing?"
Eri nodded but kept silent.
"Alright, I think that's all the questions I have for you Eri. You were very brave," Tsukauchi then looked to the teens. "If you all won't mind staying with her a little longer, I need to go over this information."
'A long pointed mouth that he took off to wear a mask… Does she mean a beak or another mask? This at least explains why she's so scared of the doctors.' Tsukauchi rubbed his pen against his head in thought. 'I'll have to go over this later, right now…' he turned his attention to the group of teens in the room, chatting with Eri.
"Detective?" Tsukauchi looked to Inko. "What's going to happen to Eri now?"
Tsukauchi rubbed the back of his neck as he gave his answer some thought, "Honestly, I'm not entirely sure. Normally, Eri would be given to child services and they would either place her into some kind of protective custody and medical care, or she would be sent to a foster home to be looked after while her case is ongoing. However, I'm not very… fond of those ideas. Due to her fear of doctors, she won't do well staying at a medical facility. And sending her to a place filled with strangers won't work either. Her skittish nature makes me worried about how'd she react to being around people she doesn't know. You've only seen her around those four. How she was acting before was the complete opposite."
Inko nodded, having figured that be the case since Eri was hiding under the bed. "I… may have an idea."
"Hmm?" Tsukauchi looked curiously at her.
Inko quickly explained her solution to both the detective, as well as the teens. Since Eri's immediate future won't be very pleasant for the girl, Inko offered to put Eri into her care, citing how well she reacted to Izuku and the girls. Needless to say, each of them immediately took to the idea, Eri especially. The little girl practically clung to Izuku when he told her about his mom's idea.
Tsukauchi would be able to fastback the paperwork needed, and one of his officers went to get Eri clothes for the next few days. Once that was all taken care of, the group of six left the hospital, saying their goodbyes to Tsukauchi and the staff. Tsukauchi smiled as he watched them leave, particularly Izuku who was carrying Eri in his arms. 'I can see why you pick him, Toshinori.'
Eri quickly adjusted to the Midoriya apartment, and the need to move out into a bigger home became all the more apparent when the girl commandeered Izuku's bed for the night, forcing the green-haired teen to the couch. Rias and the girls offered for him to sleep with them but he declined, though that didn't stop them from sleeping on the couch with him.
"Do you really have to go?" Eri asked as she looked between Izuku, Rias, Ibara, and Ochako, all dressed and ready for school.
Rias knelt down and patted Eri on the head, "Now Eri, we talked about this last night, didn't we?"
Eri pouted but nodded.
"Don't worry, we'll be back before dinner," Izuku reassured.
"Then we can go shopping," Ochako added. "Get you some close that actually fit you," she referred to the oversized All Might hoodie Eri was wearing.
"Until then, be a good girl, okay?" Ibara asked.
"Okay," Eri nodded.
"Do you think Eri will be okay without us?" Ochako asked as the four huddled together on the train.
"I'm sure she'll be fine," Rias replied. "She likes Inko, so we don't have to worry about her running away."
The rain outside the train droning on as the quartet started to talk until someone tapped Izuku's shoulder from the side.
"Excuse me, but… Are you Midoriya, from Class 1-A?" cheered a middle-aged man with a thumbs up.
That in turn, caused many to immediately turn towards them.
"Whoa, it's really him!"
"You won the first year's Sports Festival, didn't you?"
"Isn't that Uraraka from 1-A, too!"
"And Shiozaki from 1-B!"
"You were in the top 4!"
"So cool!"
"They're so cute!"
"ARE YOU SINGLE, MIDORIYA?!"
Rias found herself pushed back as a crowd gathered around her three servants, with the three girls getting upset when some of the teenage girls and young women in the car began to flirt with Izuku. Thankfully they didn't have to deal with it for too much longer for their stop came, freeing them from their captive audience.
Luckily it doesn't seem like anyone followed them, probably due to the heavy downpour that they're experiencing. The storm's been raging since early that morning and it doesn't seem like it's going to let up anytime soon.
"That… was something," Ochako muttered from under her pink-colored umbrella.
"Yeah," Ibara nodded.
'Is this what All Might has to deal with every day?' Izuku wondered, but his thoughts were interrupted by someone calling out.
"Hey, guys!"
Turning, he saw Hyde, Yuuto, Ravel, Koneko, Momo, Kyoka, Mina, Itsuka, Milia, Tsubasa, Yui, and Setsuna crossing the street, waving at them from under their umbrellas.
"Hey, everyone!" Izuku greeted back as they walked closer. "Have any of you seen Iida-kun?"
"Not since he left during the Festival," Tsubasa replied.
"I hope he's alright," Momo said, her worry obvious as they finally caught sight of the school.
"Good morning, everyone!"
Before any of them could react, Iida had already run past them…
"Did I just see Iida run by wearing a poncho and rain boots?" Hyde incredulous asked.
"Yeah, you did," Yuuto replied.
"Why are you all walking so slowly?" Iida asked, slowing down while looking at them. "You're going to be late!"
"Late? But there's still… five minutes until the first bell," Mina said.
"Too early," Yui agreed, yawning.
"U.A. students should always arrive ten minutes early!" Iida finished as he sped off.
"He's not wrong," Itsuka agreed, nodding. "Especially after our two days off. Who knows what will happen in class? Us class representatives might have to help out our classmates."
"Good point," Izuku nodded as they entered the building. Going to the lockers, they put away their wet clothes… but he still had an uneasy feeling: after hearing the news about the Hero Killer's attack on Ingenium, he wanted to make sure his friend was okay.
"Iida, umm…" he did not know how to broach the subject, but he knew he had to. "I heard what happened to Ingenium, and I wanted to talk with you ab-"
"There is no need to worry, Midoriya-kun. I apologize for worrying you needlessly. Congratulations on winning first place, though! I saw the highlights on the Internet, and you truly outshone us all. Good work and I hope I can get to your level someday!" Iida said, walking off to class while the others finished shaking their umbrellas.
"Thanks…" Izuku muttered, unable to shake off his unease.
As soon as they reached their respective classes, everyone was eagerly discussing the aftermath of the Festival, particularly the attention they had all attracted in the last couple of days.
"It's so weird that people recognize us from TV. Everyone wanted to talk to me on my way here," Mina exclaimed. "Though I wish it wasn't because of me getting frozen in a glacier…" she lowered her head.
"I know what you mean," Liana grumbled. "A couple of perverts asked about my… incident with Midoriya. Nearly stabbed them where it hurt most."
"Don't worry about it, you two," Kirishima said, trying to reassure his classmates. "I'm sure they'll forget about it… eventually."
"People were staring at me, too. It was kind of embarrassing!"
"Isn't that normal for you, Toru-chan?" Tsuyu asked.
"Just one day, and now we've been thrust into the spotlight, huh?" Kaminari said.
"Yeah, U.A.'s amazing," Mineta nodded.
"I kinda wished our brake was a little longer," Hyde said. "Aside from spending a day at the pool, it was nice to have a couple of boring days off. Right guys?" He asked Ochako and Izuku.
"I wouldn't exactly say boring," Ochako muttered.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Mina asked having overheard.
"Yeah? Did something happened are you guys left?" Hyde asked.
"Well…" Taking out his phone, Izuku pulled up a picture of Eri and began to explain everything that had happened. By the time he was done, most of the class had been listening. Even Bakugo.
"Wow. Normally the kid comes after ma-" Mineta stopped, a feeling of foreboding doom lingering over him, caused by several of the girls in the class.
Bakugo had a deep frown as he turned back around in his seat, doing his best to ignore the class as they reacted to Izuku's news.
"She's so cute!" Mina gushed.
"So how long is she going to be staying with you?" Kyoka asked.
"Um, we're not really sure. At least until her case is solved, I guess."
"When do we get to meet her?" Hagakure asked.
Before anyone else could ask more questions about Eri, the door slid open. Immediately, they all took their seats.
"Morning, students," Aizawa as he walked in.
"Good morning, Aizawa-sensei," most of the class replied, as the few that were not in their seats quickly took them.
"Only two seconds. Good," Aizawa stated.
"Kero? Aizawa-sensei, your bandages are gone," Tsuyu noted. "That's good," after seeing first-hand everything he had suffered at the hands of the Nomu, she was happy that, aside from the prominent scar under his right eye, the injuries were finally gone
"The old lady and her snake girl assistant went overboard with their treatment," Aizawa gave an annoyed huffed as he scratched his face.
"Wait, you wanted to stay as a mummy?" Hyde asked.
Aizawa didn't confirm nor denied that. "More importantly, we're having a special hero informatics class today with 1-B, so we'll be meeting up in a larger classroom. Grab your bags, I want you all in class 1-S in five minutes."
With that, Aizawa waltzed out of the classroom. It took about two seconds for the students to process this before quickly grabbing their backpacks and speed walking to 1-S, a special classroom meant to hold at least three classes at once.
Class 1-A soon met up with 1-B, the two groups taking their seats wherever they could.
"What do you think this is about?" Hyde asked.
"D'you think this is going to be a quiz?" Fukidashi guessed.
"Hope not, I'm not good at hero laws and that stuff…" Kirishima groaned.
"Maybe one of us will lose a position in the Hero Course?" Yui bluntly suggested.
"Don't joke like that!" Kaminari screamed.
"I wasn't."
Aoyama sweated buckets, praying to whatever god was listening that it wasn't him. He had gotten last place among all the Hero Course students.
Finally, Aizawa and Vlad King arrived. "Looks like everyone's here. Then let's get started," Vlad said. "As we've said, this is a special class on hero informatics."
"Code names," Aizawa bluntly revealed. "You'll be coming up with your identities today."
"Awesome!"
"That's so cool!"
Before the students could get too excited about it, though, Aizawa activated his Quirk as he glared at the students. They all quickly calmed down under the intimidating stare of Eraserhead.
"Your first internships are coming up, and during the last couple of days we've received the Pro Hero requests for you," Aizawa continued as he disengaged his Quirk. "The drafts usually begin in earnest during your second year, after students have gained enough experience to become immediate assets to the Pros."
"In other words," Vlad took the baton, "if a Pro extends an offer to any of you, it means that they're interested in your future potential. These offers are often canceled if the interest dies down after graduation."
Mineta mumbled something, though no one paid him any attention.
"That means we'll have to prove ourselves once we get picked," Hagakure chimed in.
"That's right," Vlad nodded. He pressed a button on a remote, where a holographic chart emerged in the front of the class. "And here are the totals for those with offers." Everyone stared intensely at the screen, especially at the top spots.

"Normally, the numbers are more spread out between both classes, but it seems that these three have caught everyone's eye," Aizawa dryly remarked as he used a pointer to underline the three names on top.
Murmuring immediately broke out between the students, and the reactions differed.
"Gah! That's not fair…" Kaminari groaned, falling back in his chair.
Aoyama was fuming if one can tell from his usual smug smile. "What about the real star? Moi?"
"Todoroki is first, followed by Kozuki and then Izuku?" Kyoka questioned.
Kirishima frowns. "Huh? Yeah, it's completely different from how they placed in the festival."
As the class continues to talk about the results, Bakugo silently clenches his fists as he tries and fails to hold back his ever-growing anger and frustration. 'They all…got more than me…'
"We got offers! We got offers!" Ochako joyfully cried as she shook Iida back and forth, the boy not even bothering to stop her.
"Yes…" That was all Iida responded between shakes.
"You're amazing, Todoroki-san. You're of Izuku by 1700 offers!" Momo told her classmate, who just shrugged her shoulders.
"Most of them are probably just because of my father, the same may be true for Kozuki," Todoroki noted.
"Remember, though, whether anyone asked for you or not, all of you will be participating in internships with Pros," Aizawa stated.
"You may have gained combat experience at the USJ, but it will still be meaningful training for you to see Pros at work, first hand," Vlad pointed out.
"So, that's why we are getting our Hero names now!" Tetsutetsu said, pumping his fists.
"This is starting to get fun!" Mina chirped.
"These hero names will likely be temporary. Odds are, you'll figure out something better. Or the media might run with a different name. Regardless, take them seriously or–"
The door suddenly slammed open. "You'll have hell to pay later!" Several of the boys in the class immediately brightened up as Midnight strutted into the room. "What you pick today could be your codename for life. You better be careful, or you'll be stuck with something utterly indecent."
"Midnight's not wrong. She'll be making sure your names are fine. I'm not good with that stuff," Aizawa said, bringing out his sleeping bag and getting inside. He had been stuck with Eraserhead because Present Mic had convinced him to put it down when they were in their first year, and he had been too lazy to come up with a better option.
"When you give yourselves a name, you get a more concrete image of what you want to be like in the future, and you get closer to it. That's what it means when people say 'Names and natures do often agree'. Like All Might, for example is," Midnight stated.
"Depending on what you do, you may be able to change your name, if you don't find good ideas at first," Vlad added. "For instance, I originally went with Bloodman, but in my third year I changed it to Vlad King. Nonetheless, I recommend you do take this lesson seriously."
Soon, dry erase boards and markers were handed out to the class and everyone started to think about their potential hero names.
After several minutes, Midnight called out. "Now, students, who among you is ready to share?"
'We're presenting these?!' Was what was generally going through the minds of the students. Who would go first?
The first to present his idea was Aoyama, who confidently stood up before anyone could be called and walked up to the front. "Hold your breath," Aoyama breathed in. "The Shining Hero," he suddenly rose his board up high for everyone to see, "I Cannot Stop Twinkling! Which means you can't stop my sparkles!" He proceeded to prove it true by starting to sparkle.
Both classes gapped. 'He CANNOT be serious!'
"Hmm… a bit too long… though, if you take out the I and contract 'cannot', then it could work. At the very least it'll be a good placeholder until you pick something better," Midnight suggested, smiling.
Aoyama smiled back, and edited his name. "Merci, mademoiselle," the half-French boy said, returning to his seat.
'SHE can't be serious!'
"May I present mine next?" Ibara asked, and Midnight nodded. "The Vine Hero: Maria."
"Ooh, sounds like a nice name! It inspires peace and hope! Let's keep going!"
"I'll go next!" Mina jumped excitedly as Ibara sat back down. "My hero name!" She showed her board, "Ridley Hero: Alien Queen!"
"Denied! We aren't risking a copyright strike!" Midnight immediately shot it down while forming an X with her arms.
"Darn…" Mina pouted as she plopped back into her seat.
Hyde then went up. "Unknown Hero: Night Blade."
"Oh, mysterious~! I like it!"
And so it went on for about half an hour. One student at a time would walk up and present their hero name, with Midnight either approving it, rejecting it, or offering an idea to change it a little. Names that were approved included Ochako's Uravity, Momo decided to take up her late mother's hero name, Creati, and Battle Fist from Itsuka. Mina decided to go with Alien Hero: Pinky.
Some of the rejected names included Togaru's Jack the Ripper, which Liana was quick to point out that it was the name of an infamous serial killer, something Togaru wasn't aware of.
Speaking of Liana, it was her turn to present her hero name. "Crossbone."
"A bit edgy, but it can work!" Midnight approved.
"Edgy?" Liana asked.
After that Bakugo, with a grunt, got up in front of the class and slammed his board down onto the podium, showing everyone his name, "King Explosion Murder."
"Rejected. Far too villainous," Midnight deadpanned.
"Huh, whaddaya mean?!"
"How about the fact 'murder' is in the name?" Kyoka deadpanned.
"Why don't you be Explosion Boy?" Kirishima called out from his seat.
"You shut up, Shitty Hair!"
After Bakugo was forced to sit back down, Milia walked up. "This is the name I thought of. Spear Hero: Yari," she shyly said to the class.
"I just love that!" Midnight said with her hands together, Milia sighing in relief.
"Should've been Seductive Hero: Sexy," Mineta grumbled.
"You better watch it," Liana glared at Mineta, causing the grape-headed pervert to flinch in fear.
"Man, everyone's names are just so cool!" Kirishima grinned.
"And we only got a few more to go," Sero added, before turning to a very focused Izuku. "I can't wait for your name though."
"What?!" Izuku breaks his concentration of still trying to think of a name.
"Yeah," Celica nodded. "I bet it's something dragon related."
Fukidashi turns in his seat. "For sure I bet it's something like Dragon Force, you know a name after his Quirk."
"Na," Kaminari shook his head. "I bet it'll be Crimson Dragon."
"Oh, that sounds so manly!" Tetsutetsu cheered.
"Isn't that from 'Yu-Gi-Oh!', though?" Pony asked.
"How about Drake?" Mina suggested. "That means dragon, right?"
"A drake is a male duck," Momo corrected.
"Oh… Wait, then what's a female duck called then?"
"I believe it's just 'duck'," Jurota said.
"Really? Just 'duck'?"
As some of the students got into a conversation about ducks, Bakugo grumbled as he rewrote his name. "There. This is perfect."
Hyde, who happened to be sitting next to the explosive teen, peeked at Bakugo's board. And deadpanned. "Dude, changing only one word doesn't change the name."
"Yes, it does! It's Lord Explosion Murder now. It's totally different!"
"Rejected!" Midnight yelled out.
"Damnit!"
"I tried to tell you."
"Shut up, Clownfish!"
As everyone chuckled at Bakugo's expense, Tsubasa walked up to the podium. "The Absorption Hero: Osmosia!"
Midnight quickly approved of the name. "Mmm, this is going more smoothly than I thought it would! All that's left is Togaru, Bakugo, Iida, Tsunotori, Todoroki, Tsuburaba, Mercury… oh, and Midoriya!"
"I'll go!" Celica said, going up to the podium. "Enchanting Heroine: Minerva," she smiled.
"Perfect! Only seven more to go!"
"Can I show mine?" Todoroki asked, walking up to the podium and revealing her choice, to the surprise of everyone. "Snowflare."
"Aww, how cute!" Midnight cooed. "Unexpected, but cute!"
'Unexpected is right,' most of the class thought.
Midnight kept calling for suggestions: Pony ended up picking Rocketti her hero name, and Togaru settled for Jack Mantis to refer to his physical form. Tsuburaba couldn't come up with anything and decided to use his real name, putting his hero name on hold for the time being.
Iida was next. He stared down at his board for what felt like an eternity. The words that his brother said to him still burned into his subconscious.
"Tenya…I wasn't sure if I wanted to say anything yesterday. But, I…I can't feel my legs. They're useless."
As it had turned out, the attack had left Tensei completely paralyzed from the waist down. This undoubtedly marked the end of the hero Ingenium. At least for him.
That's why Tensei wanted his brother to take up the name.
Iida started writing down the Hero name before abruptly stopping. His hand shaking as he held the marker. He couldn't do it. He just couldn't. Not yet.
Iida then walked up to the podium and placed his board on it for the class to see. All it had on it was his first name.
"You're holding off on your hero name, too?" Midnight asked the tall boy, wanting him to be absolutely sure that he was serious.
Izuku could tell that something was clawing inside of Iida, holding him back from what he could be. He resolved to keep an eye on his friend as the blue-haired speedster sat down again.
"Midoriya, are you ready?" Midnight asked.
"Yeah, I think I got one," he replied as he walked up to the front, taking a deep breath, showing everyone his hero name.
Red Hero Dragon: Viridian
"Not bad," Midnight said.
"Alright, that's enough," Aizawa yawned as he woke up. "Now that everyone's chosen a hero name…"
"I fucking haven't yet!"
Aizawa ignored Bakugo. "Let's get back onto the topic of internships. They'll last for a week, and as to where you'll have them, those with offers from pros will be given your own lists so you can choose for yourselves. Those without offers will choose from among forty agencies around the country that will be accepting our interns."
"Keep in mind that each place offers different specialties, so choose carefully," Vlad added.
"Take Thirteen, for instance. She focuses more on rescues from accidents and disasters than fighting villains," Midnight explained.
"Think carefully before you choose," Aizawa warned. "We'll be passing out the lists back in class. That's all."
"Yes, sir!" Replied the whole class.
"And be sure to turn in your choices before the weekend," Aizawa added as the three teachers began to leave.
"We only have two days!?"
"Yeah, so you should start now. You're all dismissed," with that, the teacher left, leaving the students flabbergasted.
In the teacher's lounge, All Might in his skin form sat on the couch, staring intently at his phone. It had been two days since Recovery Girl gave him the choice to call Gran Torino.
He had been thinking A LOT about it and came to a decision. One that put the fear of God in him. "As much as it scares me and wounds my pride, he is a better teacher and can help me with teaching Young Midoriya," the Number One Hero sighed.
All Might turned on his phone and dialed the number. After a few seconds of the line ringing, the call came through.
"{New phone, who dis?}" An old man's voice spoke through the other end.
"H-H-Hi Gran Torino, it's been too long." All Might said, his voice already trembling.
"{Ah! If it isn't the world's dunderhead of a Symbol of Peace! It has been a while Toshinori. I had a feeling you would call.}"
Soon, lunchtime arrived, allowing the Hero Course students to browse through the choices they had. After all, they still had regular classes they needed to pay attention to before having more time to look at their choices.
"So guys, have you decided what Pro agency you wanna go for?" Mina asked, completely unmotivated to make her choice.
"Mt. Lady's my top choice!" Mineta proudly proclaimed.
"Mineta. Are you thinking something perverted?" Tsuyu asked, walking by him.
"Possibly…"
"Hey, Izu-kun, who are you going with?" Ochako asked.
"I don't know, I have too many offers," Izuku said, muttering as he quickly went through the stack of papers on his desk, listing every offer he had received. All the Top Ten, save for All Might, had sent offers, even Endeavor.
"Wow… you are getting really overwhelmed," Ochako said, feeling a bit of compassion for her friend-slash-crush.
"I would imagine so. I can't even begin to imagine how I would make a decision with so many offers," Momo said, she and the others chuckling lightly at seeing Izuku nervously panic. The chuckles shook Izuku out of his mumbling phase
"Oh, sorry, I was lost in thought…"
"We could tell, Midori. You're really thinking carefully about this, right?" Mina asked.
"Yeah…" Izuku said, sighing. "I've got offers from so many Pro Heroes like Endeavor, Gunhead, Gang Orca…"
"Wait, you got an offer from the Battle Hero: Gunhead? That's who I'm going for!" Ochako said with a big smile.
"Gunhead? He's a battle type and fights villains! You're going there, Ochako?" Izuku asked.
"Yep, I got an offer from him!"
"I thought you wanted to be more like Thirteen?" Kyoka asked.
"That's the plan. But me and Mizu-oneechan had a talk after my fight with Tsu. She told me I still have room to get stronger, and I figured that Gunhead's martial arts style would suit my Quirk. The more I know, the more possibilities I will have. If I only did what I wanted, I'd have a narrower perspective!"
Izuku nodded. "Yeah, that makes sense."
"Do you have any idea who you'll be interning with?" Tsubasa asked.
"Not yet, but I'm considering Ryukyu since we have similar… powers," Izuku said.
[Uh… perhaps someone else!] Ddraig suggested, almost in a panic.
Izuku blinked in surprise. He'd never heard Ddraig sound like that before. 'Is something wrong, Ddraig?'
[NOTHING! It's just… Do you know who Ryukyu's mother is?]
'Uh… I don't think so. Should I?'
[Gah! I can't believe Gremory didn't tell you!] Ddraig took several deep breaths. [Ryukyu's mother… is one of the Five Great Dragon Kings. Chaos Karma Dragon, Tiamat.]
Izuku's eyes widened in surprise. He had heard about Tiamat before at the familiar forest. 'Wait, if Ryukyu is a hybrid like me that's even more reason for me to intern with her. Why are you so against it?'
[Because Tiamat… hates me.]
'Huh?'
[Before the start of the Great War and my final battle against Albion, I borrowed several of her treasures, but they were all either accidentally destroyed, stolen, or lost during the fight. Ever since she's been chasing me and my hosts to take back her treasure, and I obviously can't give it back to her.]
'Can't you tell her it was an accident?'
[You've never seen Tiamat angry. Her rage is terrifying. I would rather face an Evil Dragon than deal with her! And to think that Tiamat's daughter would reach out to you.] Through their mental link, Izuku could feel Ddraig beginning to tremble. [Does she know that you're my host? Has she informed Tiamat yet? Scary! Too scary! Damnit, stop shaking wings!]
Ddraig's fear began to affect Izuku, who nearly crumpled his paper. 'Ddraig is seriously freaking out right now!'
[Wait! Maybe if I completely hide my presence she won't notice! Yeah! That could work… It's still your decision on who to intern with, but please, don't consider Ryukyu!]
'Just how scary is Tiamat?!'
"Is something wrong?" Liana asked, having noticed the slightly panicked look on Izuku's face.
"I'm fine!" Izuku replied before standing up. "So, let's talk about our choices during lunch?" He suggested, trying to change the subject.
"That sounds like fun!" Mina grinned, "Let's go!"
Izuku tried to invite Iida, only to find him already gone from the classroom. Sighing at that sight, Izuku stood up to head over to the cafeteria for some food.
The group consisting of Izuku, Ochako, Momo, Kyoka, Mina, Hagakure, Liana, Hyde, Kirishima, Tsuyu, and Tsubasa, they were met with Ibara, Itsuka, Setsuna, Yui, Milia, Tetsutetsu, and Pony from 1-B, and Rias, Yuuto, and Xenovia. Izuku fidgeted slightly at seeing Xenovia, causing the girl to flinch.
As the others chatted, there was a bit of an awkward atmosphere between Xenovia and Izuku before she spoke up. "Izuku, I… wanted to apologize for the other day," Xenovia began. "I shouldn't have tried to force you into that. I wasn't thinking clearly, and I was under the assumption any guy in such a situation would've gladly taken it."
'Some maybe, but not Izuku,' Ochako, Ibara, Momo, and Kyoka all thought, thinking about a certain pervert who may take such a chance.
"Please forgive me," Xenovia bowed… a little too low for normal in Japan.
"I-It's fine, Xenovia-san," Izuku replied. "No harm done."
"As long as you don't do something like that again, I guess I can forgive you too," Rias added.
"Thank you," Xenovia gave a small smile, deciding that this probably won't be the best time to give Izuku the condoms she bought. She'll give them to him later.
"What was that about?" Mina asked, she and the other girls who weren't part of the ORC were all looking at them curiously.
"Oh, see the other day I-"
"It's nothing important!" Izuku interrupted Xenovia.
"So, you guys already know who you're going to go for?" Mina asked once more. They were all sitting at their usual spot in the cafeteria, enjoying their lunch.
"Fourth Kind," both Tetsutetsu and Kirishima said before turning to each other. "You're going there too? Sweet!"
"Still deciding," voiced Yui.
"I haven't picked either," Milia admitted.
"Bleh, we still have plenty of time to think about this!" Setsuna said, grinning. "Me and Milia are going to do some more research with Pony here since she's having a hard time reading what choices she has."
"Thank you for helping me," Pony replied. Her Japanese has grown by leaps and bounds, even if she still had a marked American accent.
"It's no problem at all, Pony," Milia replied with a smile.
"If you ever need some help with what hero does what, you can ask me, I have notes on most of them," Izuku offered.
"We might take you up on that offer," Setsuna answered.
"I was planning to pick Uwabami. She's fairly popular," Momo mused.
"I was thinking of choosing her, too!" Itsuka cheered.
"I… wouldn't recommend her. Unless you two want to be stuck in modeling and advertisement."
"Excuse me?" Momo asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Uwabami is a popular search-and-rescue hero, like Thirteen, but also a very commercialized hero. She always has up and comers in commercials with her," Izuku explained. "In my love for heroes, their advertisements were something else I looked at. I-In all of her ads, someone who got pretty far in the festival of that year was always in them. Usually pretty girls, so I'm assuming that's her intention."
The girls blushed at the inadvertent compliment before they shook their heads and checked their lists, promptly crossing Uwabami's name from them and starting to check for other possibilities.
"By the way, does anyone know who Bakugo's going to?" Kirishima asked.
"He's not exactly a sociable guy," Hyde pointed out.
"What do you think, Midoriya?" Kirishima asked the green-haired devil.
Izuku hummed in thought for a moment. "Knowing Bakugo, he might pick the highest-ranking pro who sent him an offer."
In the classroom, Bakugo was about ready to turn in his form when his phone began to ring. "Hey, Katsuki~! Your phone's ringing~! Your phone's ringing~!" Bakugo gnashed his teeth in irritation as he answered. How that bastard made a ringtone that can be heard even when the phone was in silent mode was beyond the explosive blond.
"What!?"
"{Just wanted to check up on my favorite guinea- Uh, I mean, apprentice!}"
Bakugo's eye twitched.
"{Anyway, I wanted to check up on you. You must've gotten internship offers by now, right? Who are you planning to go to?}"
"I'm taking Best Jeanist," he answered. "Top hero in my list. Learn from the best so I can be the best, and that shit."
"{Not a bad idea on paper. In practice, however, I feel Best Jeanist won't be what you hoped for. I have a much better idea on where you should intern for the week. Their name should be on the list of offers you got.}"
As the sun started to set, Izuku was ready to head home and start narrowing down the potential Heroes he could internship with. After stuffing the papers into his bag, he heard Mina approach.
"You guys wanna walk to the station together?" Mina asked.
"Sure!" Izuku nodded, as did Tsubasa, Momo, Kyoka, Hagakure, Hyde, and Tsuyu.
"Hey Iida… wait, did he already go home?" Ochako asked, noticing his empty seat.
"Huh… that's odd," Momo said with a hand under her chin.
"You think he's already decided where he wanted to go?" Tsubasa asked
"Probably. He must be turning in his paperwork now," Izuku said. "Should we wait for him?"
"We should check by the lockers first, though, see if his stuff is gone," Liana suggested.
"I hope he's ok, after everything that happened with his brother…" said Ochako.
"Me too," Izuku said. They started walking toward the lockers and Izuku tried to keep an eye out for Iida in case they passed him.
Along the way, they met with Ibara, Milia, Itsuka, Setsuna, and Yui. "So have any of you guys decided who you're going to intern with yet?"
"I was thinking of Fat Gum," Tsubasa answered.
"Really? I thought you would've gone with someone like Gunhead," Hyde said.
"I'm still having trouble deciding," Ibara admitted as they reached the lockers.
There, Rias, Yuuto, and Xenovia were already present, grabbing their belongings.
"I know what you mean," Itsuka said. "I'm still having trouble deciding."
"Still deciding who to intern with?" Rias asked.
"Some of us got a lot of offers, so it's a bit tricky," Momo said before looking over to Izuku, who was staring at Iida's empty locker. "Oh, did Iida already go home?"
"I guess so." Izuku frowned, "I hope he's doing okay."
Aizawa and Vlad were seated at their desks in the faculty office, going through several forms that were already turned in by students who have already come to a decision. Aizawa just received Todoroki's, it was no surprise to where she'll be entering, and Bakugo's, though his was more surprising since it wasn't even a hero agency.
"Internships, huh?" Snipe said, having taken notice of the forms in their hands.
Aizawa nods, scanning through each and every one of them. "Yeah. A few students already chose theirs."
"It's an important time for them. Make sure they do it right. Plenty a' third years around here still regret their first picks." Snipe walked off.
Aizawa continues to shuffle through the list, before stopping and staring at Iida's request in surprise.
Hosu City, Tokyo-Normal Hero: Manual Agency
That was the only choice that Iida had only filled, leaving the two alternatives blank. It wasn't as if Manual's agency would be impossible to get in, but given the number of offers, Aizawa was sure that there were better offers than the one chosen.
'Hosu City… Don't tell me.'
AN: DONE! Phew, that took a while. Eri is officially living with the Midoriya's and now almost everyone has their hero names and are picking deciding who to intern with. Things are getting interesting now.
Most of their hero names are the same as in canon (Invisible Girl, Battle Fist, Earphone Jack, etc.) but they may change somewhere down the line. And now a bit of context on original hero names.
Hyde's name, Unknown Hero: Night Blade, references two things. One, in his home series he's called the "Unknown Actor", and two he's associated with a group called the Night Blade because of his relationship with Linne, the Princess of the Night Blade.
Liana's name, Crossbone, is a bit self-explanatory. Sure, it's the same name as a Marvel supervillain, but Hagakure goes by Invisible Girl, which was Susan Richards née Storm's original moniker.
Milia's name Spear Hero: Yari. A yari is a traditionally made Japanese blade in the form of a spear. Someone had suggested Kuchisake (because of how 'pretty' and 'to cut' are homonyms in Japanese) and I had considered dit, but then I found out that Kuchisake is the name of a malevolent figure in Japanese folklore (like Bloody Mary) and it was a bit too scary for a hero.
Tsubasa's hero name, Absorption Hero: Osmosia. Her quirk is called Absorption, and Osmosia is a play on osmosis.
Celica's name, Enchanting Heroine: Minerva. Enchanting because of her sister, and Minerva because of the automaton Ex Machina: Minerva she had in the BlazBlue games.
Izuku's hero name was a bit trickier. I went through several ideas, like Welsh Hero or Emerald-Scarlet Hero, but I ultimately decided Red Hero Dragon (since that's what he's been called since the Rating Game with Riser). Viridian is a blueish-green color.
And as I said before, parts of this chapter were inspired by ss3dj's fic "Green Tea Rescue", particularly chapters 17 and 18 and I do have permission. It's a really good fic and you should check it out.
That's all for now. So until next time stay safe and stay healthy. Go beyond, PLUS ULTRA!
