Chapter 25

Joining the war

Vale, Beacon

Ruby hummed to herself as she walked to Beacon's target range. It's been a hectic week for her and now was the time to unwind. As she walked, she thought about everything that had happened since the floating island. Frist off they gained new members in the form of team CFVY. She was glad they gained more help in the war and was glad they were people she went to school with. Sure they were still in Atlas, but they were due back soon.

But the real problem was that floating island and the beam it sent. They knew next to nothing about the island and the beam and what they did know worried her. Someone or something made that floating death trap as Rattrap called it, and now they knew someone trashed it. And with their level of technology who know what they'll do when they get here.

But what truly worried Ruby was that mystery woman Blackarachnia meet on the island. Blackarachnia was able to get them a picture of her from her memory banks and they were clueless as to who she was.

'And I thought war was straightforward.' Thought Ruby as she was getting tired of all theses mysteries they were finding.

She then reached the firing range and grinned. Ruby pulled out her new Ion Blaster as she finally finished building it and now it was time to test it.

Meanwhile in headmaster Ozpin office a meeting was going on between himself, Glynda, Qrow and James Ironwood.

James Ironwood is the head master at Atlas Academy and the general of the Atlesain Military. He wore a white overcoat, with a gray undercoat, a black sweater, and a red necktie. He had on white dress pants and he wore silver boots that were accented in grey. He hair was black with some gray and his eyebrows were solid black. But two things stood out for James. First was he has a metal strip above his left eyebrow and second he wore a glove on his left hand while his right didn't.

After seeing the beam of light when the island went down Ozpin called James to help him find out what caused it and what it was for.

"What do you mean you have nothing?" asked Qrow as James gave his report.

"Qrow what I mean is, whatever caused that beam, sank too deep into the ocean for my crews to reach." Explained James as he didn't like saying he couldn't do something.

"Then we really do have nothing." Said Glynda bluntly.

Ozpin sat there as he thought about several things as he then spoke. "I think whatever been happening lately isn't Salem." He suddenly said shocking everyone in the room.

"What!?" Said James confused. "It has to be her! Who else could it be?"

"I think he right James." Said Qrow as he held his flask in his hand. "If this was Salem what's the point of all this. Blowing up a mountain of worthless dust, shooting weird beams into the sky. It doesn't make sense."

James frowned as both men made a good point. But the bigger question was if not her then who?

"Then what's going on?" Asked James as he hated being in the dark.

Ozpin then pressed a few buttons on his desk as several reports appeared before them. "In the last few months there have been reports of battels all over Remnant. So far no one has seen one off these fights, but the damage to the surrounding areas is apparent."

James looked at the reports as he even had a few in Atlas himself.

"Even a safe ring in Patch stopped working." Added Qrow shocking Glynda and James.

"But how?" Asked Glynda as no one know how those rings work, so for one to stop was concerning.

"I don't know, but when I checked out the area, I found some shells and blood. When I had them tested it had Faunus DNA on them." Qrow told them as he took a drink form his flask.

"Then why didn't you report it?" Asked James as this was the first he was hearing of this.

"I did." Said Qrow as he went to Ozpin desk hit a few buttons and brought up the report.

James looked at the report and saw it was dated for some time ago. James frowned as he realized he didn't see it before.

"Then what do we do?" Asked James as he frowned. "We're completely in the dark here."

"I don't think so." Said Ozpin as he took down the reports and brought up a team RWBY's files. "I think they know something."

Seeing this Qrow frowned as this was his nieces' team. "Ozpin, I need you to explain why you think this." Said Qrow as he hoped Ozpin was wrong as Ozpin explained.

Vacou, Darksyde

At the Darksyde Megatron was in his quarters with both Adam and Roman as they were going over the floating island mission. Or rather the mystery woman that attacked them.

"So, neither of you found anything?" Asked Megatron annoyed.

"She not a Faunus." Said Adam as even if she was there was no animal traits on her.

"And I sent her photo to every information broker I know. No one has seen her before." Added Roman as this confused him.

Megatron frowned at that. "It's impossible for her not to exist." He told them.

"I know that, you know that, but someone made it so she didn't." Said Roman as baffled as Megatron.

"Then the question is why?" Said Adam unsure what this woman's goal was.

"No, the real question is, is Cinder working for her?" Said Roman as both Megatron and Adam looked at him funny.

"What? Am I really the only one who thought that?" Roman asked them in disbelief.

"I'm curious to why you believe that Roman." Said Megatron curious to his logic.

"Well we never did find out why Cinder wanted us to work with her in the first place. Also add in that someone made a life for her after we confirmed she had no life before hand. And finally this mystery woman shows up on the very island we just found, someone must have tipped her off." Roman told Megatron as Megatron stroked his chin in thought.

"And what do you suggest then?" Asked Megatron as he admit Roman had some merit in his logic.

"We get rid of her." He told Megatron with a straight face. "There's no telling what she can do to us. It's safer this way."

"He's right." Added Adam as he never like that girl. "We're better off with out her."

"You're both right, but we don't get rid of her right now." Megatron told them shocking them both.

"But why?!" Both Adam and Roman said at the same time in disbelief.

"We know she's sending information to this woman, but she doesn't know we know. If we get rid of her now, we'll lose our only means finding out more about this mystery woman. We must play the waiting game, for now." Said Megatron as he too didn't like that they had a mole in his ranks. But when you know who the mole is that when they can work in your favor.

Both Adam and Roman looked at each other and sighed. They didn't like it, but they could live with it, for now.

"How will we track her?" Asked Adam as that could be a problem.

"The bomb has a unique energy signature that can be tracked. We will also make a program that has the security system track her every movement." Megatron told them as both men nodded.

"Is that all?" Asked Adam.

"Yes, for now." Megatron told them as the two men left.

As the two walked, they spoke in low voices.

"Did you know the security system could track one person?" Asked Adam as he was worried Megatron was on to them.

"No." Admitted Roman as it was worrying. "But as long as we don't give him a reason to suspect us, we'll be good."

Hearing that Adam nodded as the two went their separate ways.

But little did the two know Megatron was watching them right now. If it wasn't for the temporally reprogrammed Rhinox he would have missed them completely. They were quite and careful. And they were making head way and Megatron was slowly seeing it. Men who were either sacred or loyal to him, were slowly looking at him like he was the problem to everything.

Normally Megatron would crush them for this, but the two were being careful. And so Megatron decided to let them have their way, for now. But if it looked like thing will go bad for him, he will crush them.

Vale, Beacon

Ruby grinned at her handy work. The firing range targets were so destroyed that they would need to buy new ones. Seeing that her Ion blaster was successfully tested she couldn't wait to see what it would do some Pred's.

"Wow sis, leave some for the rest of us." Said Yang as she, Blake and Weiss entered the practice range.

"I'll see what I can." Joked Ruby as she put a new clip into her blaster.

"I see you finally finished your Prime Blaster." Said Blake as she looked the gun over.

"Yup the Ion Blaster is my best work for guns yet." Boasted Ruby with pride.

"Wait Ion Blaster I thought it was called the Prime Blaster?" Asked Weiss confused.

"Its official name is the Ion Blaster, but people made the joke calling it the Prime Blaster since it was Optimus Prime primary weapon." Explained Ruby as it made sense for the other girls.

"So, what should we do now?" Asked Blake. "We have the day off from both school and our Maximal activates."

"I say we head into town and have some fun." Suggested Yang as that sounded like a good idea for the girls.

"Maybe we could see a movie? There's a new spy film out I would love to see." Suggested Blake.

"Is it the one where the guy says his last name first then his full name?" Asked Ruby as she like that idea.

"That's the one." Said Blake as the girls were set on heading out.

But as Ruby put away her gun their scrolls went off alerting them that Headmaster Ozpin wanted to talk to them. Seeing this confused the girls as they wondered what Ozpin want to see them about.

Soon the reached Ozpin's office as they knocked.

"Come in." They heard Ozpin say as they entered his office.

Inside they saw Ozpin, Glynda, James and surprisingly Qrow.

"Uncle Qrow?!" Said Ruby surprised. "What are you doing here?"

"I called him." Said Ozpin as he was sitting behind his desk as the others were standing beside him.

"What for?" Asked Yang as Qrow preferred field work and hated being in an office.

"About your team." Ozpin said confusing the girls and making them their slightly worried.

"What about us?" Asked Weiss curious.

"About what happened in the Emerald forest, and how your team is growing so fast." Ozpin told them as this made the girls expect Ruby nervous.

"We just really clicked is all." Said Ruby in an even tone.

"And what about the Emerald forest then?" Asked James as he folded his arms as he looked at Ruby in the eyes.

"We told you it was friendly fire." Said Ruby as she never missed a beat.

Seeing this James looked at Ozpin, who nodded.

"I see." Said Ozpin. "But I think there's something else going on here."

"And what's that?" Asked Ruby as she was getting a little worried.

"I think you and your team are hiding something from us." Said Ozpin in an even tone.

"And why do you think that?" Asked Ruby as she and her team were getting worried.

"Let us start at the beginning then." Said Ozpin as she brought up a picture of the energon mountain from Patch.

"Before you started school here. A mountain of worthless dust was found after a series of explosions hit the mountain. Later said mountain exploded. But the real question was where were you during all this?" Asked Ozpin.

"What do you mean?" Asked Ruby.

"Kid you were gone for the whole day. All you've told us was you made some new friends and helped them out." Said Qrow as he wanted to know the truth as well.

"Well they're explores. They travel around as the learn about new places. Their ship had some problems on Patch and I helped them fix it." Said Ruby as she mixed truth with some lies.

Ozpin looked at all four girls as everyone, but Yang had a straight face while Yang had a slightly worried face.

"I see." Said Ozpin as he narrowed his eyes slightly. "Then going back to your initiation, did you know we were hacked?"

"Beacon got hacked?!" Said Yang in surprise as both Blake and Weiss elbowed her telling her to be quiet.

"We did." Said Ozpin. "But other then your friendly fire incident nothing happened."

"I see." Said Ruby as was hoping she could access the Matrix for some help, but it was quiet for some reason.

"Also, your team's new gear. When did you have time to build it and where?" Asked Ozpin as no one said anything.

"And the growth of your team is far exceeding other teams. Like you're already going on missions." Said Ozpin as Ruby sighed.

"What is it you want to know?" Asked Ruby with a straight face as she looked Ozpin right in the eyes. "Because this is starting to feel like an interrogation."

"I'm sorry you feel that way, but things aren't right on Remnant right now and it feels like your team is in the middle of it." Ozpin told her.

"And if we are?" Asked Ruby as no one said anything.

"We deserve to know." Said Ozpin as he felt it was contradictory of him to say that.

"Sometimes knowing the truth is worst than not knowing." Said Ruby with a straight face.

Hearing that the adults were shocked to hear someone at Ruby's age talk with such experience.

"Please Miss Rose, if you know something tell us." Said Ozpin as he was now certain they were involved now.

Ruby stood there as she thought about it as her team looked at each not such what to do or say.

"There's a war going on." Ruby suddenly said shocking everyone for different reasons.

"A war?" Said James as he thought she was talking about Salem.

"We call it, the Beast Wars." Continued Ruby.

"The Beast wars?" Repeated Glynda confused. "Does this war involve the Faunus somehow?"

"Yes, but not in the way you think." Answered Ruby, but before Ruby could continue Weiss spoke up.

"Ruby what are you doing?" She asked her friend/leader.

"They figured this much out already Weiss. If we keep quiet who know how or when they'll learn the truth." Ruby told her as the two just confirmed what the adults thought.

"Miss Rose what are you talking about?" Asked a confused James.

"This may take a bit." Said Ruby as she told them everything. About the Transformers, the Maximals and Predacons, about energon, everything they need to know about the war.

To say they were shocked would be an understatement. It took some time for them to process everything.

The first one to recover was James. "Do you expect us to believe such a crazy story?" He told them.

"Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction." Said Ruby as Qrow was starting to worry.

"Ruby are you ok?" He asked her in concern. "I've never seen you like this before."

"When you're in charge of eight people and an unofficial second in command you grow up fast." Admitted Ruby as Ozpin nodded in understanding.

"You can't tell me you believe this?" Asked James as he looked at Ozpin in disbelief.

"Some of what she told us fill in the gaps." Said Ozpin as he too was having a hard time believing this.

"But really Ozpin, robotic aliens, worthless dust being more powerful than normal dust and a war being fought in the shadows." Exclaimed James.

"He does have a point." Said Glynda though if team RWBY was fighting in a war that would explain their growth.

"While I admit without proof of these Maximals some of what they said makes sense, like that mountain of worthless dust exploding, and the weird battle scars people are finding." Said Ozpin as he gave James a look saying 'and don't get me started on secret wars'.

As the adults talked team RWBY talked in whispers.

"Are you about this Ruby?" Asked Weiss as this could backfire on them.

"No, but they know we know something and short of leaving the school we can't hide this forever." Ruby told them as it wasn't ideal.

"She's not wrong." Admitted Blake as this wasn't an ideal situation.

"So what will happen to us?" Asked Yang as they broke who knows how many laws they broke in the war.

"We go one step at a time and have each other's backs." Ruby told them as each girl nodded.

"Miss Rose." Said Ozpin as the girls turned to face him. "Unless you can give us some proof of these Transformers. I'm afraid I will have to take what you said as a group disillusion and will have you all go under psych evals."

Hearing that the girls looked at each other in worry and shock as they weren't expecting this.

"But why?" Asked Yang trying to understand they would need Psych evals.

"If what you told us is false, then your either lying to us or you all have some sort of medical issue. And if it's an issue we would rather find out now rather then later." Expelled Ozpin making the girls nervous.

"Can I make a call?" Asked Ruby as Ozpin nodded. Ruby then pulled out her scroll and dialled a number.

"Bladegator, I need to talk to Optimus." Said Ruby as she listened to the other end. "Let's just say things have gone a little out of control."

Then there was silence before Ruby spoke again. "Optimus we have a bit of a problem." Said Ruby as she listened to Optimus.

"We've been found out by our headmaster, one of our teachers, the headmaster of Atlas and my uncle Qrow." Said Ruby as the Adults hear 'WHAT!' on the other end. "And I told them the gist of things." Added Ruby.

Ruby listen to the other end as the girls looked nervous as they looked at each other in concern.

"I need you to come here and show them were sane." Ruby said suddenly as added. "I know, I know, but they were already suspicious and I'm taking control of the situation before things go south."

There was a pause a Ruby sighed. "If she wants to come it's her choice." Then there was another pause. "Ok see you two soon."

And with that she ended her call.

"They'll be here in a few minutes." Said Ruby as she put her scroll away.

"Then we'll have someone bring them to us." Said Ozpin as he was about to contact someone when Ruby spoke up.

"No, they'll enter this room." She told them confusing the adults.

"It's quite the sight for first timers." Said Yang as she remembered the first time when she saw a ground bridge portal.

Then to the adult's shock a green portal appeared in the room as James and Qrow got into fighting stances. Then out from the portal came Optimus in beast mode, but what shocked both James and Qrow was Winter was with him.

"Winter/Ice queen!?" They both said at the same time.

"General!" Said Winter as she saluted him and then added. "Qrow."

"Winter what are you doing here?" Asked James as he couldn't believe this.

"And with a monkey of all things." Added Qrow as he looked at Optimus.

"It won't cause a mess, while it?" Asked Glynda as she got over the ground bridge somewhat.

"Don't worry I won't." Said Optimus shocking the adults.

"I'm guessing you're a transformer." Asked Ozpin as he couldn't even tell the difference between him and a real ape.

"Yes." Said Optimus as he gave Ruby the 'we need to talk look', as he added. "I could transform if that would make it easier for you?"

"I think it would." Said Ozpin as he wasn't really sure if it would.

"Optimus Primal Maximize." Said Optimus as he transformed furthering shocking the Adults.

"Amazing." Said James as nothing in Atlas is even close to this level.

"Allow me I introduce myself. My name is Optimus Primal leader of the Maximals on Remnant. Ruby here is my unofficial second-in-command and in charge of all organics in the Maximals."

"And how many humans are in the Maximals?" Asked James curious as he couldn't believe Winter kept this quite from him.

"Including myself 10. And we say organics to avoid being mean to our Faunus allies." Said Ruby as Wiess and Yang thought they were talking about Velvet, while Blake smiled.

"And who are these people?" Asked Ozpin curious.

"My team, team CFVY, Winter and Willow Schnee." Answered Ruby as Ozpin frowned that two of his teams were in some war.

"And how did you end up in this war, ice queen?" Asked Qrow as he took a drink from his flask as he needed it right now.

"Frist off stop calling me that! And second they came to me and my mother for help." Answered Winter as she then got a grin on her face.

"What's wrong Qrow? Upset I knew something you didn't know about?" Mocked Winter as it felt good.

Qrow didn't say anything as it did hurt that his nieces would go to her before him.

"Schnee!? Why didn't you report this?" Asked James as he couldn't believe that someone he trusted and allowed in his inner circle wouldn't tell him about this.

"Sir, even if I did without proof would you have believed me?" Asked Winter as James had to admit that without proof, he most likely would have not.

"Optimus was it?" Asked Ozpin as he gained everyone attention. "Perhaps you should start at the beginning."

"One moment." Said Optimus as he walked over to Ruby as the two walked to the far side of the room.

"What do you think?" Asked Optimus as Ruby understood what he meant.

"It might help in the long run if we have two of the four huntman academies headmasters on our side. And added in Atlas has the best tech around not including Cybertron tech is a bonus." Said Ruby as she had already gone through the pro's and cons.

"I agree." Said Optimus as the two rejoined the others.

"Alright me and my crew are from a planet called Cybertron…" Started Optimus as he gave them the whole story.

By the time they were done Ozpin and James agreed that the Predacons must be stopped. And as such a strategy meeting was called for tomorrow to go over their tactics and resources.

Later that night Ozpin was alone in his Office as he stood near the window and looked to the stars. Wondering what secrets they held. Soon his door opened and James walked in

"Ozpin." Greeted James as he joined his friend by the window.

"I still can't believe everything we learnt today." Admitted James as he would have never thought any of this possible before.

"I know." Agreed Ozpin as he felt kindred to Ruby as she had collected wisdom of others, while he added on to his own.

"Ozpin, should we have told them about her?" Asked James as he felt they could help a great deal in their war.

"Not yet." Said Ozpin as he agreed with James. "We can't just spring something like that on them."

"But she probably already knows about the Beast wars." James told him.

"And knowing her she on the sidelines with a spy in the Predacons ranks." Countered Ozpin as nearly everyone who wasn't a transformer on the Maximal side he knew in some form or another.

"We can't keep this from them." Insisted James as this might be what they need to tip the scales in their favor.

"And we won't, but for know let's let them get to know us." Said Ozpin as James was right the Maximals might tip the scales in their own war.

And with that Ozpin, James, Qrow and Glynda all now know about the Beast Wars and have joined the Maximals. As for Megatron he now know Cinder is a mole in his ranks and that Adam and Roman are planning to over throw him.

I bet some of you are thinking how did Ozpin's reach the conclusion that team RWBY was hiding things. The truth is there were clues, small clues, but clues none the less. And if you add them up like teams RWBY's new gear and how fast their teamwork grew, you could see something was up. Though don't ask me why they never thought something was wrong with CCT in the series after the episode 'Dance dance infiltration' to me that feel like a given.

And Ozpin will tell the Maximals and their allies about Salem. But if you just meet someone would you tell them about an evil older then the kingdoms. Especially if you just found out some huge secrets yourself?

Now I bet some of you are wondering about Salem. This will be her first appearance for a while. So don't expect thing from her anytime soon.
