While Jack, Drake, Serana and Jurgen are facing Empress in their headquarters, another Duel takes places.
Leo and Juliet come face-to-face with a powerful opponent of their own.
3. Storm of Darkness - Part 3.
A Sector Security patrol car was speeding through the streets, sirens on Gizelle the newly promoted Sector Security Commissioner, after Richard had disappeared after killing Sara and the attack of the Dark Signers Sector Security was busy getting things back on track, only a few weeks after the Dark Signers were defeated a crime spree hit New-York, with Richard missing they needed a young officer as Commissioner, someone who knew the streets, the first choice was Gizelle who gladly accepted.
Now Gizelle was on her way with Leo and Juliet.
Around this time everything was still peaceful at the Blades headquarters
The two Blades sat in the back of the car, Gizelle was concentrated on the road, they just had gotten a tip that one of the gang leaders who were rampaging through the city was now challenging authorities in the middle of a random street, of course all three knew this had to be a trap but now they had no choice, there already were four Blades assisting Michelle and Don were investigating the harbors while Leo and Juliet went after the more problematic criminals, between the four of them Sector Security managed to arrest about a dozen high-ranking gang members already and even more gang members.
Leo's black hair had grown a bit to shoulder length, he was dressed as if he was going on a stealth mission, wearing a black turtleneck sweater, black jeans, a black coat over his sweater and black combat boots.
Juliet who as a vampire wasn't affected by the cold the fall brought was still dressed appropriately, her red hair reached to halfway her back, she wore it loose her ears were left bare, in her earlobes she had three golden rings, on the middle rings she had a dragon tooth she got those from Jack, the top of each ear had five smaller knobs of different colors pierced in.
She was wearing a black dress made of a thick fabric, the dress closed tightly around her neck, the skirt part almost touched the ground, you couldn't see the black legging she wore under it and you could only see a small part of her heeled boots, over the dress she wore a black coat with a high collar, the sleeves of the jacket were puffed up and closed tightly around her wrists, she wore the jacket open, it had a deep pocket on each side where she kept her gear in.
About half and hour later the patrol car drove into the block where the gang leader was seen taunting Sector Security, unknown to Leo and Juliet this was also the time where Empress started her assault.
'Juliet.' Leo spoke in an earnest voice: 'Did anyone tell you that dress looks good on you?' Leo asked, Juliet knew he was lightening the mood.
Juliet blushed a bit: 'Don't let Jack hear it you're trying to flirt with me.' She casually replied.
'I'm not afraid of Jack, he can't Duel himself out of a paper bag, if not for me The Blades wouldn't even exist.' He jokingly replied to Juliet.
Gizelle suddenly stopped the car. 'This is the last location I was given, we go on foot here.' The Commissioner spoke.
'No Gizelle, you stay here.' Juliet said as she stepped out of the car.
'Magic is powerful here, even I can sense it.' Leo added.
'Whatever it is we're dealing with, it ain't human, like we thought this is a trap.' Juliet spoke again.
As the two Blades carefully walked down the street they noticed there was nobody out there, people didn't even seem to be home, there were no cars parked either, the moment they reached the middle of the street something changed, a powerful wave of magic hit the air, the sky turned darker as a heavy fog rolled in, seemingly out of nowhere some people appeared walking down the street, further on were some cars parked.
Her attention was drawn to the street parallel to the one they were walking on now, quickly the Blades took a side alley to reach the other street.
At that moment Gizelle made contact, she had to go to the docks, Don and Michelle had taken out the entire gang there and the officers on side needed some back-up and they needed a Commissioner on side.
Juliet looked around, she had felt the shift in magic, it was overwhelming, the air was heavy, a thick, black fog hung in the air, the area looked the same but something was off, for once cars were parked in the middle of the street, all buildings seem abandoned there were barely people on the street and the few who were seemed paranoid, constantly looking over their shoulders, their expressions were empty as if they had no more will to live.
'Juliet.' She then heard through her D-Gazer the voice was Leo but there was a lot of static. 'I read you Leo, what happened?' Juliet asked.
'Don't know, connection is bad, do you feel the magic in here?'
Juliet saw a shadow move in the distance, she ducked away behind a parked car.
'This magic.' Juliet replied: 'It's familiar.' She closed her eyes for a second.
'When you guys just saved me from Volkihar, I had issues you remember that?'
It remained silent for a second. 'Something's on the prowl.' Leo whispered: 'But yes I remember, we brought you to a cave in the Shivering Isles, you had to face your inner self there.' Leo hastily whispered.
'What I feel here is similar to what I felt there.' Juliet spoke.
'Juliet I think we're dealing with one of those Distortions.' Leo then spoke.
'I don't think that's right Leo, Drake's team faced one, that lawyer Ren, he was in one of those spots where magic poured through into this realm, that allowed the Distortion to enter this realm and it could only stay close to that spot, the Blades charted all spots and there is no spot near here.' Juliet replied.
'It matches with what Drake reported, when he was in that courtroom Ren appeared as a monarch because he saw himself as the monarch of crime, Drake reported Ren looked almost the same except for his eyes, those were yellow, when he looked out of the window he saw a black fog, when people walked by they seemed soulless, what Drake described looks awfully similar...' Leo fell silent as another shift in magic drew their attention, the fog cleared a bit. 'Leo?' She asked but she heard only static.
'Got to find him.' She muttered.
After walking for what felt like hours Juliet finally saw something. 'Leo!' She shouted as she recognized her friend, Leo had climbed onto a flat roof in the hopes to see more. Leo looked up as he heard his name then suddenly black fog erupted from the ground. 'Found you.' A distorted voice spoke.
The fog quickly disappeared, in the middle of the street stood a man by the looks of it he was in his early fifties, his hair was completely gray, it was groomed, he had a full beard, Juliet looked the man in the eyes, they were yellow, he had an ugly burn over the bridge of his nose.
The man wore a black suit jacket with a gray shirt underneath and a black tie, for the rest he wore black suit pants and matching, sleek shoes, and a leather belt around his waist, that would be intimidating if not for the ridiculous blood-red, velvet mantle with fur around the neck draped around his shoulders and the golden crows adorned with several gems on his head.
The man silently stared at Juliet then he slowly turned around to look at Leo. 'Blades.' He slowly spoke as he turned back to look at Juliet again.
'Impossible.' Juliet stammered as she recognized the man. 'Ren? You should be brain dead.'
The man chuckled: 'Ren is, your friend left him in a pretty bad state.' He replied.
'So you're the Distortion, as I thought.' Leo spoke: 'The question is how?'
Ren let out another chuckle: 'The one I now serve, the one you know as Empress, she gave me the tool I needed.' A long, black shadow appeared behind Ren like a tail. 'After your friend was done with Ren it left me trapped in a dead mind, without a working brain that body was a prison, Empress freed me, she disposed of the broken mind thanks to her magic I could take the body for my own.' He paused for a second. 'In your realm I can pose as Ren, after all he was me, but with Empress' tool I can call upon the magic I need to create my own realm, here I am the king! The monarch of crime!' He shouted as he spread his arms, a golden Duel Disk appeared around his arm, the Duels Disks of Leo and Juliet sprung to life at the same time, their D-Gazers only gave static.
'As we speak Empress is attacking your headquarters, her sights are set on Jurgen, my task here is simply to stall you, Empress has planned everything her plan is flawless, thanks to me you will be too late to provide backup, now we Duel!'
(Juliet: 8000) - (Leo: 8000) - (Ren: 8000)
'Leo! We can take him, we're not teaming up on this, the distance between us is too big, this means Ren fights us in two different Duels, if we move at the same time he won't be able to keep up!' Juliet shouted as she realized what was going on.
'In that case let's make this quick Juliet!' Leo replied: 'If Empress is really attacking we need to help Jack!'
Both Blades drew their opening hands.
'I activate Premature Burial.' Leo stated his spell flashed on the field, Leo selected his card which slipped out of the slot. 'I discard my Blackwing - Hillen the Tengu-Wind.' He stated as he placed the card in his Graveyard.
Then Leo and Juliet both picked a card from their hand, in front of- and behind Ren appeared two face-down monsters, one for each Blade.
'I end my turn.' Both then stated at the same time.
'So this is how the Blades play it then.' Ren said, he drew his card.
'No matter, I can fight two battles at once, I can take your whole team if need be!' The lawyer placed a card on his Duel Disk black smoker erupted on the center of the field out of the smoke stepped a man clad in heavy, black armor, full with small teeth-like horns and sharp edges, a tattered cape was draped around his shoulders, the helmet had horns on the sides, a sharp pointed nose and a plume of black hair on top. (800 ATK)
'My Eidos the Underworld Squire allows me an extra tribute summon when summoned.' Ren explained: 'So I release Eidos to advance summon Caius the Shadow Monarch!'
A pillar of dark fog erupted from under Eidos, the warrior let out a howl of pain, suddenly out of the fog two gloved hands appeared, each hand was the size of an adult human, the gloves were made out of a dark-gray steel with red fingertips, then the rest of the giant appeared, standing taller than most houses, his body was covered in the same armor his gauntlets were made of, his head was ridiculously small compared to the rest of his body, two horns stuck out of the helmet the giant wore, a black, tattered cape was attached to the back of his armor and the giant had a black, tattered piece of cloth tied to his waist. (2400 ATK)
Then behind Caius appeared another version of it as if it's shadow had come to life, when the shadow detached it shrunk a bit, half of the armor melted away revealing a naked devilish creature with a scaly, white hide and glowing red eyes. (2400 ATK)
'This is Illusory Snatcher.' Ren stated: 'I can special summon it whenever I tribute summon a monster.'
'Now the verdict from my jury.' Ren stated as he pointed towards Caius. 'I banish your face-down monster and if it's a Dark monster you're guilty and take thousand points of damage. I choose the girl's monster.' He stated, Caius clapped in his hands a vortex opened behind Juliet's monster which was revealed to be a small Fiend wearing black, tattered robes with a red collar, it was floating in mid-air as it had no legs, in it's hand it held a tuning fork.
'Dark Resonator a Dark monster.' Ren confirmed, slowly the small creature was sucked into the vortex, then Caius created an orb of black energy in his hands and hurled it at Juliet.
(Juliet: 8000- 7000) - (Leo: 8000) - (Ren: 8000)
The moment the attack hit Juliet felt an intense pain ripping through her body, it felt as if her guts were ripped out, gasping for air she staggered backwards, her hands were trembling, sweat poured from her face, Leo noticed but there was nothing he could do, with Juliet being a vampire if this attack hurt her so badly, Leo knew he was in for it.
'Now Illusory Snatcher attack the other hidden monster.' Ren stated, the devilish creature changed into a white fog, with incredible speed it moved towards Leo's monster before the Blade knew what happened the creature had appeared again, a small bird-like creature with a humanoid face covered in black feathers except for it's head which was covered with yellow hair was pierced on the claw of the Fiend. (1000 DEF)
'So Blackwing - Kalut the Moon Shadow.' Ren confirmed the identity of the monster before it fell apart in white smoke.
'And now Caius direct attack!' Ren shouted as he pointed towards Leo.
The Blade braced himself, then he felt magic surrounding him before the dark ball of energy struck him, he was shoved back and he felt weaker but no pain. 'Thank you Juliet.' He whispered as he realized his friend had cast a shield around him.
(Juliet: 7000) - (Leo: 8000- 5600) - (Ren: 8000)
'And I must thank you for attacking me Ren.' Leo said with a smirk. 'When I take two-thousand or more in damage from a direct attack when Hillen the Tengu-Wind is in my Graveyard I can special summon it and another level three or lower Blackwing.' Leo took two cards from the slot and quickly played them, first appeared the small Kalut the Moon Shadow. (1000 DEF) next to it appeared a human with bird features, he had long, red hair and a matching beard, pointed ears and the beak of a bird, his arms were covered in black feathers and ended in human hands with talon-like nails, his feet were those of a bird, the man had two large, wings on his back covered in black feathers, he wore wide, black cotton pants and a brown coat with nothing under it, in his hand he held a spear made of red wood with a golden knob at the bottom and a golden tip, this was more of a ceremonial spear than a weapon. (2300 DEF)
'Fine have it your way.' Ren shrugged off Leo's two summons, quickly he placed a card on his Duel Disk it appeared as a face-down card behind Caius. 'I end my turn.' The lawyer stated.
The two Blades drew their cards, Leo was deep in thought.
'I special summon Primitive Butterfly since I control no other monsters.'
Juliet waited for a moment then a butterfly-like insect appeared from behind a building, it's six wings were several shades of green with a red and purple eye-like pattern on the tips. (1200 ATK)
'I use the effect of Primitive Butterfly to increase it's level by one.' Five stars appeared above the creature then a sixth was added.
'Finally I normal summon Red Resonator.' Another one of the fiend tuning fork holding creatures appeared, it was similar in appearance as Dark Resonator, only the robes of the one were made of literal flames. (600 ATK)
'Since Red Resonator was normal summoned I get to special summon Reborn Tengu from my hand.' Juliet continued, this time a small storm erupted in the middle of the street a man with purple skin and a long, pointed nose stepped out he wore grayish robes with a red coat over it and a necklace made of small, red orbs, the man had two large wings on his back, for the rest he had long, black hair with a matching beard in his hand he held a small sword. (1700 ATK)
Leo took two cards from his hand.
'First I special summon Blackwing - Bora the Spear!' Out of an explosion of black feather leaped a cross between a man and a bird, it;s body was covered with black feathers, long, yellow feathers around the neck and red feathers on it's head it had a long tail and large wings in it's hand it held a spear shaped like a drill. (1700 ATK)
'Since I control at least one Blackwing I can normal summon this one without a tribute. I normal summon Blackwing - Elphin the Raven!'
A loud screech sounded through the air, a monstrous beast dropped out from the black sky, a bird-man with long, black feathers covering it's body, it had humanoid limbs which all ended in sharp talons, the tips of it's large wings touched the ground, it's torso was covered in armor the beast's monstrous head was looking at Ren it's maw was slightly open revealing a row of sharp teeth. (2200 ATK)
'And now I tune level three Kalut the Moon Shadow to my level five Hillen the Tengu-Wind!' Leo shouted.
On Juliet's side a green glow erupted as Red Resonator changed into two green rings, Primitive Butterfly flew towards them, on Leo's side happened the same thing with his monsters, the two beams of green light crossed each other.
'Darkness gathering into my very being, the blood of the red dragon coursing through my veins! Synchro Summon! The soul of the demon king reborn! Red Dragon Archfiend! Juliet chanted.
'Black gales lead the way, ride the winds of freedom! Synchro Summon! Soar, Black-Winged Dragon!' Leo added, the roars of two massive dragons pierced the sky, first appeared the red and black skinned dragon that listened to Juliet, it's wings blocked the little sunlight that was left, the horned head was fixated on Ren, the beast's muscles were tense it kept it's claws in a fist. (3000 ATK)
Then after Red Dragon Archfiend had appeared the Black-Winged Dragon dropped out of the sky it landed on it's six metal legs, it's slender body was covered with black scale-like armor it's skeletal wings had red blade-like feathers it's red eyes gazed upon Ren. (2800 ATK)
Ren laughed as he slowly turned around on his place. 'Two Signer Dragons?' He bellowed. 'Last time you didn't even deem it worthy to send one Signer my way, and now you really need two? Am I that much of a threat?' He spread his arms and motioned the Blades to come at him. 'Show me your worst then shall we?' He cackled.
'Red Dragon Archfiend attacks Caius!' Juliet shouted.
'Black-Winged Dragon take out Illusory Snatcher!'
Red Dragon Archfiend grabbed the Monarch then blasted a wave of flames right in the giant's face, while the giant fell it was Black-Winged Dragon who used it's blade-like feathers on it's wings to cut the Illusory Snatcher in half.
(Juliet: 7000) - (Leo: 5600) - (Ren: 8000- 7400- 7000)
'Now Bora the Spear and Elphin the Raven!' Leo shouted.
'Reborn Tengu!' Juliet added. 'Direct attack!' Both roared.
Reborn Tengu created a powerful storm around Ren while Leo's monsters charged in for a physical attack, Bora with it's spear while Elphin used it's sharp claws.
(Juliet: 7000) - (Leo: 5600) - (Ren: 7000- 5300- 3100- 1400)
When the dust settled Ren was sitting on his knees and leaning on his hands, his clothes were torn to shreds his crown was gone, he was bleeding all over the street.
Slowly he rose his head followed by a maniacal laughter, slowly he stood back up blood still dripping from several wounds, slowly he removed his velvet mantle. 'You just had to push me.' The lawyer scoffed: 'Now things have to get ugly!' He roared his eyes flared up, black mist erupted around him, then Ren grew in size the lower half of his body got bloated any remaining clothes disappeared and the skin got milky-white and transparent inside the sack were many Dollar bills stored, six spider-like legs grew out of the sides barely keeping his weight the upper half of the body was still Ren though his clothes were gone and his skin was now covered in tiny, black hairs, his own arms formed the seventh and eight leg of the monster, his the head was the most hideous thing, Ren's mouth and nose were gone and replaced by a pointed beak made out of four parts that when opened showed rows and rows of small, sharp teeth on each of the four parts.
'Is that a tick?' Juliet gasped suppressing urge to barf.
'Well it is fitting I'd say.' Leo casually stated: 'According to what we know the realm the Distortion lives in is a reflection of how the person sees his surroundings. Ren appeared as a monarch because he thinks himself to be the Monarch of Crime, if you look at how he sees people they are all soulless as if they were sucked dry.' Leo paused for a second to see if Juliet got his train of thoughts.
'I see.' Leo's friend added: 'In our world he sees himself as the Monarch of Crime, but he is an ordinary thief, a successful one but still a thief, all he does is leeching off of the money of others like a tick leeching blood off of whatever it attaches to.' Leo nodded.
'You think you can see right through me?' The creature spoke, his voice sounded still like Ren but really distorted. 'I deserve the respect of people! I execute the perfect crimes, nobody sees me coming, it's not just leeching their money, I completely drain them.' The hideous thing spread it's human arms. 'They despair because everything they own is gone, the people you see wandering here? My victims in the real world they continue on, in reality they have no will to live, their despair makes me stronger!'
Juliet and Leo's eyes met, even though there was a lot of static they could still communicate through their D-Gazers.
'This is bad.' Juliet whispered: 'His magic is incredible, unlike anything I've experienced.'
Ren's laughing interrupted them. 'You should not have pushed me, before I took this form the damage in here was real, you could get severely injured but you'd live, the moment your life points his zero you're dead!'
Quickly Ren drew his card.
'I activate the field spell: Domain of the True Monarchs!' Ren's voice sounded through the area though his mouth wasn't moving, quickly walls made of granite appeared around the three Duelists a giant, black throne stood where Ren once stood, the hideous creature had grown in size he was now as tall as the Monarchs he used in battle, he sat upon the black throne, Leo stood on a balcony overlooking the hall while Juliet stood in front of the huge throne.
'Now the spell: The Monarch's Stormforth.' A spell card appeared briefly before the giant throne.
'Next I activate Dark Advance!' Ren bellowed his face-down trap opened up. 'This trap allows me to add a Monarch to my hand from the Graveyard and then immediately tribute summon one Monarch from my hand.'
A card appeared in Ren's hand it was Caius the Shadow Monarch.
'Thanks to The Monarch's Stormforth I can use an opponents monster as a tribute! So I release Bora the Sharp!' The tick stated Leo's monster got dragged to Ren's side by the huge hand of Caius a pillar of black mist erupted in the middle of the hall, seconds later the giant stepped out of the pillar. (2400 ATK)
Ren laughed as he saw the fear in Leo's eyes: 'With the effect of Caius I banish Black-Winged Dragon and deal a thousand points of damage.'
The Shadow Monarch created one of his vortexes the Signer Dragon tried to resist but slowly it got pulled into the vortex, again Leo felt Juliet's magic protect his body from the upcoming blow, he braced himself as the orb of darkness came closer he got pushed back a bit by the impact.
(Juliet: 7000) - (Leo: 5600- 4600) - (Ren: 1400)
'And now I shall evolve Caius to the next level!' Ren shouted black smoke started to swirl around the Monarch he let out a terrifying roar, the giant grew to twice his size, out of the armor around his elbows grew two gigantic, curved blades, the horns on his helmet grew as well two wings made from black mist spouted from his back. (2800 ATK)
'Meet Caius the Mega Monarch! And when this card is tribute summoned I can banish one card and deal a thousand damage to the controller of that card, but when I used a tribute summoned monster as the tribute I can target two cards instead!'
Slowly the Mega Monarch placed his hands on the ground, underneath Elphin the Raven and Red Dragon Archfiend appeared a vortex the two monsters stood no chance. 'Now normally.' Ren started to explain: 'It is a thousand damage no matter if I banish one or two monsters, but this time I banished a monster from two different opponents!'
Leo knew Juliet couldn't protect him this time, an intense pain erupted through his body as the ball of darkness hit him, Leo heard someone scream he only realized later it was he himself.
(Juliet: 7000- 6000) - (Leo: 4600- 3600) - (Ren: 1400)
'Caius the Mega Monarch attack Reborn Tengu!' Ren commanded, Juliet braced herself as the orb of darkness annihilated her monster.
(Juliet: 6000- 4100) - (Leo: 3600) - (Ren: 1400)
'Whenever a Reborn Tengu leaves the field I can special summon a new one from my Deck.' Juliet interrupted the lawyer a powerful storm made of black feathers erupted on the middle of the field as another one of the purple-skinned creatures appeared, this one was sitting on his knees with his hands resting in his lap. (600 DEF)
'It matters not how many monsters you call to your defense, I will remove them one by one.' The lawyer stated. 'For now I shall rest my case.'
'I summon Delta Flyer.' Juliet stated, something fast flew passed her, a mechanical dragon painted golden, it had no arms, bird-like legs, a small head and a long neck, four blades formed the wings. (1500 ATK)
'I use the effect of Delta Flyer and increase the level of Reborn Tengu by one!' Four glowing stars appeared above the purple-skinned man then a fifth was added.
'I tune level three Delta Flyer to my now level five Reborn Tengu!' She shouted, Juliet was slightly confused when nothing happened.
Ren's laughter broke the silence. 'You really wanted to special summon a monster from your Extra Deck? You can't because of my field spell! I control a tribute summoned monster so your Extra Deck is off limits!' He bellowed.
'In that case I summon Blackwing - Fane the Steel Chain!' Leo shouted who had waited for Juliet to make her move. Before Leo in a puff of smoke appeared a bird-man he was wearing black ninja attire, he had the feet of a bird and his arms were wings, a scarf hid most of his face, his blue hair was tied behind his head. (500 ATK)
'Fane attacks directly with his effect!' Leo shouted before their eyes the bird-man disappeared, for a second he appeared above Ren, he quickly threw three Kunai which bounced off of Ren's chest.
(Juliet: 4100) - (Leo: 3600) - (Ren: 1400- 900)
'Whenever Fane deals damage I can target one attack position monster my opponent controls and change it's position.'
Delta Flyer landed on it's feet the blades that formed it's wings retracted in the base. (900 DEF)
'In a Duel like this it's a free for all.' Leo stated. 'Even though Juliet and I work together the game still considers her my opponent.'
Juliet nodded as a thank you, Leo quickly placed a card in his Duel Disk it appeared face-down behind Fane.
'Ren's life is low, two direct attacks from Fane and he is gone, he needs to get rid of it and that is when I spring my trap Black Sonic.' Leo thought as he looked at his face-down card. 'I end my turn.' Both Blades stated.
Ren drew his card. 'You think I'm a child?' He asked while looking at Leo's face-down card. 'That trap is obvious, I won't fall for it, instead Caius destroys Delta Flyer!' Juliet shielded her face as an orb of darkness exploded near her annihilating her Tuner.
'I will chip away at you, eventually you run out of monster to defend yourself with.' The lawyer then signaled the end of his turn.'
Both Leo and Juliet drew their cards.
'I attack directly with Fane!' Leo shouted, again the agile ninja bird appeared above Ren throwing his Kunai.
(Juliet: 4100) - (Leo: 3600) - (Ren: 900- 400)
Juliet saw the attack happening, while Ren swatted away the Kunai Juliet took a card from her hand. 'I've found a solution to the problem, you said I couldn't use my Extra Deck because you had a tribute summoned monster, well then I release my Reborn Tengu to advance summon Salvage Warrior!' A very muscular man with blue skin appeared, he wore an orange vest with a backpack where two chains came out of at each end of the chain it had a hook, for the rest the man wore a purple helmet, green pants held up by a yellow belt and black combat boots. (1900 ATK)
'Since a Reborn Tengu left the field I summon another one.' Juliet stated and in a puff of smoke her third bird-man appeared. (600 DEF)
'And then Salvage Warrior's effect kicks in, I special summon Delta Flyer from the Graveyard!' A hole appeared in the ground the muscular man threw one of his hooks in, when he pulled the hook back up Delta Flyer was attached to it. (900 DEF)

A beam of light crashed down on Caius. 'Level eight Ehther can be summoned by using a tribute summoned monster as a tribute!'
Out of the light stepped the tallest Monarch yet, she was completely covered in white and golden armor, over the armor she wore a white skirt in her hands she held a halberd the staff was white with a golden tip, the double blades on top of the weapon were covered in a thin layer of gold. Both Blades drew a card. 'I end my turn.' Juliet sighted.
Leo quickly placed a card in his Duel Disk before he signaled the end of his turn as well.
'With your turns ending Kuraz will now return to my hand.' Ren stated in a flash of light the Monarch disappeared as the lawyer took the card from his Duel Disk, then he quickly drew a new one.
'I activate Tenacity of the Monarchs.' Ren stated.
'Then I chain my Call of the Haunted!' Leo replied, first Ren's spell appeared followed by one of the two face-down cards Leo had, the ground broke open and Fane leaped back onto the field. (500 ATK)
'My turn now.' Ren spoke: 'With Tenacity I reveal Kuraz in my hand, this allows me to add The Monarchs Stormforth to my hand.'
Quickly the tick monster that was Ren added the card to his hand.
'Next I activate The Monarchs Stormforth!' Ren's spell appeared briefly.
'I release Reborn Tengu! Advance Summon Kuraz the Light Monarch!' For a second time the giant in golden armor appeared. (2400 ATK)
The ring on his back started to glow again, first Delta Flyer got vaporized then the Monarch himself got struck by his own attack, both Ren and Juliet drew a card.
'I activate Monster Reborn.' Ren stated as he played his new card, the holy Ankh appeared above the field and in a flash of light Kuraz appeared once again, two beams of light shot from the ring first Call of the Haunted got incinerated, as Leo drew his card Ren stood up from his throne, beams of light pelted the walls and the throne as he had destroyed his own field spell, Ren drew his card.
'When Kuraz is summoned he cannot attack that turn, but I equip him with Axe of Fools!' In the left hand of the Monarch appeared a small axe with a black staff and a white blade attached to a golden circle, the axe started to glow and Kuraz became stronger. (2400- 3400 ATK)
'Ehther attacks directly!' Ren commanded as he looked at Leo, the Blade knew that Juliet had almost no power left, he had to live through this blow, when a beam of light shot down from the heavens Leo felt the power, when the light hit him the impact knocked him senseless.

Leo's body hit the ground, Juliet called his name but the Blade didn't react.
'Now Kuraz attack the girl!' Ren continued, Juliet braced herself five beams of light shot from the ring on the giant's back the first two missed Juliet the other three hit her, one in her shoulder, one in her leg and one in her chest, Juliet gasped as she fell on her hands and knees.

Juliet fell on her stomach her entire body was aching.
'Nearly got him.' She muttered as she tried to move her hand: 'If I draw a card and end my turn he'll take five-hundred points of damage due to Axe of Fools.'
Ren looked at Leo. 'The boy is out cold so he lost by default, you on the other hand get five minutes.' The lawyer stated.

'Come on move.' Juliet growled as her hand refused to work, slowly Ren changed back into his human form Juliet tried to move again she could barely keep her eyes open. 'I can't.' Juliet muttered before she passed out she realized Ren counted on this to happen, he knew he would win like this he wouldn't have taken a risk like this otherwise.

As quickly as the fog had rolled in it disappeared, Ren's clothes became his regular black suit, the ridiculous crown and cape disappeared.
'A pity you had to pass out.' The lawyer muttered.
Then the sound of sirens getting closer to him drew his attention.
'Great Sector Security, just when I used most of my energy in this Duel.' The man took a small dagger out of his pocket ready to finish off his opponents.
Then a buzzing sound behind him drew his attention, slowly the man turned around. 'Akai.' He stated.
'You want a lift?' The winged woman asked.
'I do not want a lift, I need one.' Ren replied.
'She was successful.' Akai then said referring to Empress: 'Your distraction here made that possible, but we need to leave now.'
The moment the two stepped through the portal a patrol car came around the corner, the portal closed the moment the car stopped and Gizelle got out rushing towards the knocked out Blades.
