Chapter Seven: The Dragon Reborn Anew
She felt a gentle shake on her shoulder as she looked up. Blinking a few times to clear the sleep from her eyes as she yawned.
"Good morning." Alessia spoke with a soft voice as Moiraine smiled.
"Good morning. Come. Time for breakfast." The woman spoke as Alessia nodded her head lightly. She got out of bed and grabbed a change of clothes from her bag that was now in the room. She was wearing a red short sleeve shirt and a pair of black pants. Putting her boots on as she brushed her hair. Leaving it down as she looked around the room. The sun was up in the sky now. She walked over to the table as she sat down across from Moiraine. It seemed Lan had already eaten as he was waiting outside of the door. Alessia took a drink from her cup. It was orange juice.
"So, where are we going?" Alessia then asked, trying to start a conversation.
"Fal Dara. There is a Seer there that I need to speak to before we head to the Eye of the World." Moiraine spoke.
"What's the Eye?" Alessia asked as she began to eat her breakfast.
"The Dark One's prison. Where the Dragon sealed away the Dark One imperfectly and then the Dragon before you sealed him away. We believe he was put out of the Pattern." Moiraine explained as Alessia was in thought.
"Is it dangerous there?" She then asked.
"You ask a lot of questions." Moiraine spoke as Alessia frowned at this.
"I'm sorry. It's just. I can't follow you somewhere if I don't know anything about it." Alessia spoke.
"You make a fair point. You know when we return here to the Tower, you will be hounded with questions. I want you to tell no one." Moiraine spoke as Alessia nodded her head slightly to show that she understood.
"So.." Alessia began.
"My dear. Enough questions for now. Eat and head to the library. I must attend the Tower Hall for my punishment." Moiraine spoke. Alessia frowned again. She had forgotten about Moiraine's punishment.
"For what it's worth. I hope she goes easy on you." Alessia spoke. This gave her a smile from the woman in blue. Moiraine touched her shoulder and squeezed it.
"Thank you. She is fair in her judgments." Moiraine spoke as Alessia nodded her head as she finished her breakfast. Seeing a Novice come and collect their dishes before taking her leave.
"Come along." Moiraine spoke as Alessia followed. They headed out of the blue bedroom. Lan was following as well. They approached the ground floor of the Tower as the double doors were in sight. Alessia could see the sisters they traveled with there waiting as well. Her eyes caught a pair of dark brown ones and quickly looked away. A hint of blush on her cheeks before feeling Moiraine rub her shoulder.
"Head to the library. Don't leave Lan's sight." Moiraine spoke softly as Alessia nodded her head.
"When is she signing her name?" Liandrin's voice came as Alessia saw the woman in red appear next to them.
"That doesn't concern you Liandrin Sedai." Moiraine spoke in a cold tone. Alessia raised a brow at this. Wondering what it was between these two.
"It is the Tower's business. She's a powerful channeler who hasn't signed her name yet. Our sisters are questioning this." Liandrin replied. Her tone was warm in return.
"She's right. I am rather curious, myself." Lanfear replied as she appeared on Moiraine's other side. Alessia felt a presence next to her. Lillen was in her personal space. She felt her hand brushed against the woman as she took it gently and squeezed it. Lillen looked down to their hands but didn't protest. Only, she moved closer. Their shoulders are touching. Hearing the doors opened as a woman in blue robes came out with a staff.
"Enter. For she will be arriving." The woman spoke.
"Of course sister Leane." Moiraine spoke. Alessia frowned at the loss of contact when Lillen followed quickly. Hearing Lan clear his throat as Alessia turned around to follow him to the library.
"How long do you think it will be?" Alessia asked as she was now browsing the shelves of the library.
"Depends. The Amyrlin Seat will want all the details of what happened or if Moiraine is to swear an oath." Lan explained as Alessia pulled a book off the shelf and sat down at the table Lan was seated at. The book she pulled off caught attention. It was about the Age of Legends that was well over six thousand years ago.
Lews Therin. A Dragon Reborn born into a time that was well advanced. He held a high position and was in charge of all the Aes Sedai. Men and Women. Cancer was cured. Life was longer. Many were happy and healthy. The Aes Sedai lived up to seven hundred years. The One's Power was used to advance travel and medicine. Experimental use was encouraged. He led an army to cage the Dark One. In doing so had cursed the men's side of power. Making any man who could channel go mad. Killing those he loved first. Any man found channeling would be gentled by the red Aes Sedai to protect lives. It took a dark turn. They would end up killing themselves. Men from other countries were encouraged to travel to the blight and kill many shadowspawn and Trollocs before burning out. The Last Battle was fought as the Dragon Rand Al'Thor had successfully cleansed the men's side of power as he sealed the Dark One away again. Knowing full well he could be released into the world again.
Alessia raised a brow as she looked up what burning out meant.
To absorb too much power that one cannot handle will end up 'burning out', completely cutting themselves from the power and dying in the process.
"You will be learning all this when you become a Novice." Lan spoke as he read over her shoulder. Alessia nodded her head lightly.
"It won't hurt to know a little bit before then? Besides, I feel like I will fall behind." She asked as he chuckled.
"True." Lan spoke as Alessia flipped through the pages again. Looking at the pictures the book had. She was curious about the breaking of the world and the age of legends.
"So, this is where you went off to." A voice made her look up with a smile.
"Tarna Sedai." Alessia spoke with a smile.
"So, sister Moiraine let you out of the cage?" She asked as she sat down. Alessia nodded her head lightly.
"You're not supposed to be in here with her." Lan spoke while looking at Tarna.
"Relax. I'm not going to kidnap her. Much as Liandrin Sedai wants me to do so." Tarna spoke as Alessia closed the book. Tarna was looking at what she was reading. "Studying early?" The red asked.
"I heard about the breaking that happened over six thousand years ago but I never really got to study it." Alessia spoke softly.
"Well, there isn't a class for those who fall behind so everyone takes the switch instead when they fall behind Not many do now these days." Tarna spoke as Alessia raised a brow at this.
"Might as well sign me up. I already know I am going to struggle." Alessia sighed lightly.
"Why do you say that?" Tarna asked.
"I can barely speak Old tongue." She replied.
"Already better than half of the Accepteds here." Tarna laughed lightly.
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"When Accepteds were told to continue their studies on their own, they basically stopped learning and only focused on weaving. Now, all Accepteds and Novices take classes together. As I have said, they prefer the switch." Tarna spoke.
"Why?" Alessia asked.
"Because they think it's just easier to do. Until you realize that your shoulder and back start to scar up. Your body can only take so much." Tarna replied. "So, they prefer the switch when they fall behind instead of being taken under the wing of a sister." She replied. She was still confused on what Tarna was trying to explain to her.
"I might as well." Alessia sighed. Opening and closing the book out of boredom. "Is it also why the sisters take some under their wings?" Alessia asked.
"Well. That is rare because it's a more intimate kind of thing. The only sister I have seen take anyone under her wing is Alanna Sedai." Tarna spoke. That would make sense. The woman is carefree and comfortable with pretty much anything. Though, she had never really sat down and spoke with the green ajah woman. Alessia heard footsteps and looked up. Seeing Moiraine enter as she was followed by Liandrin, Lanfear and Lillen. Alessia knew. She nodded her head at Moiraine and she stood up. Putting the book back in its place.
"You don't have to go." Alessia was cut off by Liandrin who was grabbing her shoulder.
"I told her that I would." Alessia spoke. As much as she wanted to stay. She couldn't.
"This isn't the end, Moiraine Sedai!" Liandrin shouted at Moiraine as a brown shushed them. Watching the reds take their leave. Alessia felt her hand taken and squeezed again as she looked over. Seeing Lillen was looking to the side in silence.
"Where are you going?" Lanfear asked Moiraine who shook her head. Lan had grabbed Alessia's arm and pulled her away as she followed the blue ajah out of the library.
It was not long after they left the library to head back to Moiraine's room. Alessia grabbed her bag as she heard a voice she knew.
"Loial?" She asked as she quickly moved across the room to the patio and sure enough, the Ogier was standing there.
"Alessia. Good to see you again!" He spoke while bowing to her.
"And you Builder!" Alessia smiled as she returned the bow.
"You two know each other?" Moiraine asked.
"Yes! He traveled to the Two Rivers a lot when I was younger. He let me borrow books to read from." Alessia spoke while smiling at him.
"How is your Old Tongue coming along?" He asked her.
"Same as always." She spoke with a frown.
"I see. If the rumors are true, you'll catch up in no time." Loial spoke.
"Rumors?" Alessia asked.
"You can channel, can you not?" He asked as she nodded her head. "Then I believe you will be a quick learner." He smiled. This gave her a small amount of hope. She bowed again.
"Can you lead us through?" Moiraine asked as Alessia was now confused.
"I can. What I don't understand is why you cannot use your own weaves for traveling?" Loial asked.
"Because Alessia cannot travel in that way yet. This way is safer." Moiraine spoke.
"The Ways is not any safer than it has been in thousands of years. If anything, it is a lot more dangerous." The Builder spoke.
"What are the Ways?" Alessia interrupted.
"It is a gate that people use to travel great distances. Ten feet in the Ways can be a hundred miles in this world." He spoke as Alessia gasped with a smile.
"That sounds amazing." She spoke while smiling.
"Come. Walk and talk." Moiraine spoke as Alessia nodded. Pulling the bag over her shoulder as she followed.
"Tell me more about the Ways?" Alessia asked.
"Curious little one, aren't you?" He asked with a chuckle.
"You have no idea." Moiraine spoke with a small smirk.
"Hey!" Alessia spoke as Moiraine chuckled.
"Alessia?" A voice she had heard from so long ago as she stopped and turned around. There a young woman her age was walking up to her. "Alessia Solace?" She asked again. Then it hit her. Blonde hair and gray eyes.
"Jane!" Alessia shouted as she felt her friend hug her.
"It's been so long! How are you here?" Jane asked as she pulled back. Alessia was looking at her friend. She was in a dress that had the eight colors of the ajahs around the wrists and a belt that also had the colors.
"Daughter Jane, Alessia is busy. She will be back." Moiraine spoke.
"You can still channel?" Jane asked as Alessia nodded her head. "You will have to tell me everything when you get back! I can't wait to tell the others! That my best friend is here!" Jane was beaming. Alessia received another hug as she was then pulled by Lan again.
"I'll see you soon!" Alessia spoke as Jane waved. Hearing a bell as she watched her friend dash away. She followed Moiraine out of the Tower again. "It was great seeing her. Wish we could talk more." Alessia spoke.
"I know you do but for now, we need to focus on the task at hand." Moiraine spoke as she nodded her head. "We'll take two horses. Ride with me." Moiraine spoke as Alessia mounted the horse behind Moiraine. She took the lead as Alessia was silent. Letting the wind sing in her ears as it whipped against both sides of her face. They came upon a field as Alessia saw ahead of her. Seeing two tall pillars like structures with stairs going towards it. They slowed down as they approached it. Seeing Lan dismount as did Loial. Alessia followed as she landed on her feet perfectly and offered her hand to Moiraine.
"I have to give it to you, walking is so much easier now." Alessia spoke with a smile. "I'm in your debt." Alessia added.
"Nonsense dear. It is what my yellow sisters do. Aes Sedai means servants of all. Remember that." Moiraine spoke as Alessia nodded her head. Seeing the horses sent away. She was confused about this.
"Why are they leaving?" She asked.
"They will not survive the Ways. Come. Let me show you how to open the gate." Moraine spoke. Alessia got excited. She basically bounced after Moiraine. She was getting a lesson on opening a way gate. This was definitely something worth learning. "Now, follow my movements but channel." She spoke. Alessia nodded her head. Calling the Source to her with ease. She smiled as she saw the streams of power circling around her. She followed Moiraine's exact movements. The feeling of the power as she was able to make it do what she wanted felt amazing. The feeling of it she could not describe it. Moving her right hand forward as the gate opened. She gasped with a smile.
"Very good. I see you moved with ease. Opening the gate had no effect on you. That is a good sign." Moiraine spoke as they entered the gate.
Alessia looked around. It was dark. Very dark. She could not see the path in front of their eyes. Lan lit torches and handed one to Alessia. She took it and nodded her thanks.
"Let us hope we get there with no trouble. Whatever you do, do not channel in here." Moiraine spoke with a warning voice.
"If you do, Machin Shin will come." Loial spoke.
"What's that?" Alessia asked.
"It means Black Wind in Old Tongue. Wind that will speak in your head. Telling you your greatest fears." He added as she nodded her head. She understood this. She began to follow Moiraine again who was in front with Loial. Alessia was walking next to Lan. Her eyes were traveling everywhere.
"You know, long ago the Ways used to have trees. Soil. Even water. Now a bottomless pit." Loial spoke as Alessia was hanging onto every word he was saying.
"Trees in here? This place looks like it has always been dead." Alessia spoke softly.
"It has not. Maybe someday it will bloom again. Though, if the creatures in here allow it. The bottomless pit would make a good idea." He spoke.
"You are saying there are things worse than a bottomless pit?" Alessia asked with a worried look.
"Yes there is." He began as Lan cut him off.
"We understand Builder. Come. We shall rest here." Lan spoke as they were halfway from their destination. Alessia set the torch in the ground and looked around.
"The guiding stone. It's damaged. It's even worse." Moiraine spoke softly. Alessia was just out of ear shot when she sat down. Leaning back against a wall part made of stone. She sighed while looking up at the pitch blackness.
"Get some rest." Moiraine spoke. "It might be a while but he can still read it." Moiraine added as Alessia nodded her head. "You're silent now. I am used to hearing you constantly ask questions." Moiraine spoke while nudging Alessia with a chuckle. Alessia rolled her eyes at this and shook her head. She smiled softly and moved. Laying down on her back now. She could feel Moiraine laying next to her.
"Don't you usually sleep next to Lan?" Alessia asked.
"There she is." Moiraine chuckled. "He doesn't sleep as much as we do. Because he is a Warder. He sleeps and eats a lot less but is much stronger than a normal man." Moiraine explained as Alessia nodded her head. "He can sense shadowspawn and what not as well." She added. Alessia turned onto her side to face away from Moiraine. Feeling an arm rest across her waist as she relaxed. Falling asleep.
Feeling her shoulder shaken as she sat up quickly. Rubbing her head as she sighed.
"You alright?" Moiraine asked as Alessia nodded her head.
"Just a headache." Alessia spoke. Feeling gentle fingers around her head. Feeling a warm sensation as the throbbing subsided. "Can you teach me how to do that?" Alessia asked with a smile.
"No. But my yellow sisters can." Moiraine spoke with a smile. Looking around as the other two were still asleep. Alessia wondered if it was their turn to watch.
"Did he figure it out?" Alessia asked.
"Yes. I told them to rest." Moiraine spoke softly. "I woke you up because it looked as if you were having a nightmare." She added.
"Oh. No. I don't know what I was dreaming about." Alessia spoke. She leaned against Moiraine without thinking. Feeling an arm wrapped around her.
"You forgive me?" Moiraine asked. She looked at Moiraine. Into her blue eyes and nodded her head lightly. "Good. Thank you." The blue ajah spoke. Hearing a whistle in the distance as Alessia jumped up. Looking around as she saw nothing.
"Did you hear that?" Alessia whispered as Moiraine nodded her head.
"Lan." Moiraine spoke only once as he jumped up. Grabbing his sword as he shook Loial awake as well.
"What is it?" He asked as he slowly stood up. Alessia looked around and heard a screech. A Trolloc jumped in front of them. Alessia panicked and screamed. Channeling the Trolloc off the cliff. Then, it suddenly went silent.
"I didn't mean to do that!" Alessia spoke quickly as Moiraine cupped her cheeks.
"It's alright. We need to leave. Quickly!" Moiraine spoke as Loial led the way. Alessia was frowning as she followed. They were basically running as Alessia looked over her shoulder and saw a cloud of black rise into the air. Flying towards them.
"Machin Shin!" Lan shouted. Looking back forward as they came across a broken bridge.
"We have to jump!" Moiraine shouted. Alessia felt her heart racing at this. Seeing the Ogier jump first as Moiraine followed. Lan had grabbed Alessia's arm and pushed forward. She ran and jumped. Feeling the air against her as Moiraine reached out, grabbing her hand as she leaned. Feeling her back lean as she was pulled forward. Seeing the gate ahead as Moiraine began to channel.
"Hurry!" Lan shouted as the black wind caught up. Putting all the torches out. Alessia screamed as she covered her ears. Falling down to her knees.
You will never know the true love of your soul.
You are the Dragon Reborn.
They will use you and you know this.
You will watch everything burn and die around you.
They don't care about you. They will betray you like your parents did.
"No!" She shouted as she stood up slowly. Channeling as she reached out. Feeling the sensation of the power as she pushed her hands out. Shouting as she created a shield. Pushing the wind away from them as she walked backwards.
"It's opened!" Moiraine's voice shouted as Alessia turned and ran. She jumped through the gate as she was the last one out. Seeing Moiraine close the gate as the wind was no longer a threat. She caught her breath and wiped her eyes from the tears that were just falling. Seeing a city up ahead as she sighed. Feeling a hand on her shoulder.
"Whatever it is you heard, put it out of your mind." Moiraine spoke.
"I'm sorry." Alessia said again.
"It's alright. Come. Rest is close at hand." Moiraine added. She nodded and followed the woman in blue again.
"Is that?" Alessia asked as they made their way towards the city.
"Fal Dara. The last bastion against the Blight. It seems the rot has grown." Loial spoke as Alessia was looking around. It seemed the city was half alive. Half of it was destroyed from time. Or maybe they were rebuilding it? Feeling a hand on her shoulder as she jumped. Looking at Moiraine who was watching her closely.
"Are you alright?" She asked. Alessia nodded her head lightly.
"Yeah. I think I just need some sleep or something." Alessia spoke as she looked down to the ground. She couldn't get the voices out of her head from the wind. Feeling an arm wrap around her shoulder as they made their way into the city. Alessia looked around and frowned.
"Last city against the Blight. It's not much of a city." Alessia spoke softly.
"Don't let Lan hear you say that." Moiraine spoke as Alessia raised a brow. "He is from here." She added as she nodded her head.
"I see." Alessia spoke as she followed Moiraine while looking around again. There were many people wandering about the roads. She stayed near Moiraine as they entered a larger building in the center of the city. There was a woman in a white and blue dress waiting for them.
"Lady Amalisa." Moiraine spoke softly. Alessia bowed at the woman when she heard the word 'Lady.' The woman had a serpent ring on her left middle finger as well.
"Moiraine Sedai. Has the Tower finally come to help?" Amalisa asked.
"Help with what?" Moiraine asked.
"I have been writing to the Tower for months now. The growling Blight has caused concerns about the shadowspawn and Trollocs appearing in larger numbers." Amalisa spoke. Alessia gasped lightly at this.
"I see." Moiraine spoke. Alessia frowned. She was now worried about the people here in the city.
"Follow me. I'll take you to your chambers." The woman spoke.
"We shall share if that's alright. No need for any fuss. We won't be here after tomorrow." Moiraine spoke as they followed Amalisa. "I need a word sent to the Tower." Moiraine then spoke softly as Alessia was now curious. They were alone in the hall now.
"To exactly whom?" Amalisa asked.
"The red ajah. To meet us at the gate in two days' time." Moiraine spoke. A door was opened as they were shown inside. Alessia set her bag down in chair and walked over to the window. Seeing a large wall separating the city and the Blight.
"That's called the Gap. The only thing separating the city from the Blight. It seems to have worn down over time." Moiraine spoke as Alessia was looking out the window. Feeling a hand on her shoulder. "Come. We need to head somewhere." The woman in blue added. Alessia nodded her head and followed before being stopped. Moiraine had pulled out an extra blue cloak and wrapped it around Alessia's shoulders.
"Just in case. Come." Moiraine spoke. Alessia felt like some lap dog that Moiraine was ordering about. She sighed and followed without question. She received a look from the older woman before heading out of the building.
She followed Moiraine down a pathway as she looked around. Seeing several new faces knowing that she would probably never see them again. She wrapped the cloak tightly around her despite the fact it felt like a hundred degrees outside. She stopped when the blue ajah did.
"Say nothing. Only listen." Moiraine spoke as she nodded her head and then followed her inside. It was a bar she was led into. There were many drunks already.
"Who is the young beauty?" A man asked as Alessia made a disgusted face and moved closer to Moiraine. Seeing a woman at the bar serving drinks.
"Hello Min." Moiraine spoke softly. The woman glared at Moiraine before turning around to grab bottles and the back.
"Moiraine Sedai. What can I do for you?" Min had asked. Pouring a man a drink before sending him off.
"I need you to look at her and tell me what you see." Moiraine spoke as Alessia was waved to a seat.
"Does she know what I am?" Min asked. Alessia shook her head.
"Not yet. She will once we go back to our chambers." Moiraine spoke.
"It's invasive." Min spoke.
"You have her consent." Moiraine spoke.
"What?" Alessia asked as her heart rate went up when she heard this.
"Don't worry. She just needs to look at you." Moiraine spoke. Min took a drink from a glass and looked at Alessia. "What do you see?" Moiraine then asked.
"I see two shadow figures on each side of her." Min spoke. "Sparks of light as well. Wait." Min then spoke. She gasped a little.
"What is it?" Moiraine asked.
"There's a fire dragon dancing around her. Is she?!" Min raised her voice a little.
"Quiet. I will pay for your silence." Moiraine spoke. Handing Min a gold crown. Min nodded her head and looked at Moiraine. "What did you see for me?" She asked.
"The Amyrlin Seat. She'll be your downfall." Min whispered. Alessia frowned at this and then it clicked. She gasped as Moiraine covered her mouth.
"Enough. Both of you. Come Alessia. We need to head back to rest." Moiraine spoke. Moiraine is in love with the Amyrlin Seat! She saw the look Moiraine was giving that woman that day she watched them. She waved goodbye to Min who nodded her head at her. She was then led away out of the bar. Drunks trying to reach towards her as she pushed the hands away.
"Where's Lan?" Alessia then asked while looking around.
"He is with some old friends in the throne room, catching up." Moiraine spoke as Alessia nodded her head. She was in deep thought as she followed Moiraine back into the room. She took the cloak off and set it on the chair.
"What is it?" Moiraine asked as Alessia sighed. Shaking her head.
"I never thought in any of my lifetimes that I would be the Dragon. I thought the Dragon was only men." Alessia spoke softly.
"Yes, the Dragon is but that Dragon had stopped being reborn. The Wheel gave us a new Dragon. One born into an old soul." Moiraine spoke.
"Stop with secrets and the riddles Moiraine. How do you know this?" Alessia asked as she crossed her arms. Looking at the woman in blue.
"There is a prophecy about you. Well, one for all Dragons. To make or break the world. That was the men's side. Your side is much different. That you are supposed to lead us into a new era." Moiraine spoke as Alessia sighed.
"I can barely keep a weave up. How am I supposed to lead people to a new era?" Alessia asked with a frown. Feeling her cheeks cupped.
"You will learn from us. The best at the Tower as guidance." Moiraine spoke.
"Assuming that I don't fall behind." Alessia spoke with a sigh.
"It's alright. I'll take you under my wing. I want to teach you everything I know and more." Moiraine spoke.
"I. It's alright Moiraine. You don't have to do anything." Alessia spoke. She was then cut off by Moiraine. Feeling strong soft lips against her own. Alessia felt her legs go weak as Moiraine caught her. Before pulling back to look into the blue eyes and felt her cheeks flushed. Hearing a chuckle from Moiraine.
"I..I.." Alessia stuttered as she had no words.
"It's alright. Come. We need rest before tomorrow." Moiraine spoke as Alessia nodded her head. She was still dazed as she changed into her gown and laid in the bed. It didn't seem to faze Moiraine.
"Are you alright?" Moiraine asked as Alessia nodded her head. "I still make you completely speechless, do I?" She asked as well.
"No. It's just. I've never kissed anyone." Alessia spoke truthfully as she blushed at this. Feeling embarrassed.
"It's alright. Everyone starts somewhere." Moiraine spoke as she laid down. Alessia laid down as well. Feeling the closeness of the blue ajah again. She smiled at Moiraine now.
"I honestly have to say. I cannot wait to start my training and learning at the Tower now." Alessia spoke. She had never thought about Moiraine wanting to take her in. She knew about Alanna but not Moiraine. She was a blue ajah after all. She yawned lightly before turning on her side. Resting her arm around Moiraine's waist.
Hearing a commotion outside of the room as Alessia jumped up. Looking around as she saw no one else in the room. She frowned at this. Sighing softly as she stretched. It seemed Moiraine must have gone off to do something. Hearing a knock as Alessia heard a voice.
"Alessia?" Loial's voice came as she got up and walked over to answer it. Seeing the Ogier up.
"We need to leave." He spoke.
"What? Why? Moiraine isn't here." Alessia spoke with a frown.
"She went ahead to the Bore. She said she will be back but told me to take you back as soon as you wake up." He spoke.
"Moiraine left?! She said she was taking me to the Eye." Alessia spoke with a frown. Moiraine couldn't have lied. She couldn't lie. She frowned and went to her bag to pull out some clothes. She quickly changed and heard shouting again.
"What is going on?" Alessia asked. Seeing Amalisa appear.
"Good! You're still here. We need any available channelers for help." She spoke.
"She is ordered to go back to the Tower." Loial spoke.
"Please. We need help. The Trollocs are on their way here. There will be here within the hour if the Gap does not hold and it will not." She spoke. Alessia frowned at this.
"I'll help. I cannot leave the city defenseless." Alessia spoke.
"Alessia. You are ordered to." He began.
"Moiraine isn't here is she? She left me behind!" Alessia spoke when she cut him off. "Lead the way." Alessia spoke as Amalisa nodded her head before taking her leave. Alessia then followed her.
"Alessia, must I tell you that this is unwise to do since you are not trained?" Loial spoke as he followed them.
"Go. Be somewhere safe. If I don't return. Tell Moiraine I stayed to fight." Alessia spoke while looking at Loial.
"Spoken like a true Aes Sedai." Loial spoke as he bowed and took his leave from her. Alessia took a deep breath and followed the woman again. She was led out of the city as she looked around. It was basically a barren wasteland around the area. How they live here was beyond her.
"The Gap will not hold. If we do not stop the attack, the city will fall." Amalisa spoke. There were three other women there. The sun was already down. Alessia frowned because she slept all day. She could hear the roaring of the Trollocs. It sent fear through her again from that day. She took a deep breath and looked around.
"I want you to open yourselves up to me and let me in." Amalisa spoke as Alessia was still watching the Gap. Hearing an explosion.
"They're through!" One of the ladies spoke.
"Light protect Fal Dara! The city that has never fallen!" Amalisa shouted as she began to channel. Alessia felt something tug at her. Taking her power as she grunted. Hearing the thundering sound of the hooves on the ground as Alessia groaned. Feeling the Power pulled from her. Seeing the weaves between the women. There were no men there. Assuming they were at the Gap. Her arms were thrown up in the air as Amalisa called down lightning from the sky.
"Stop! You're pulling too much!" Alessia screamed. Seeing a woman falling to the round from burning out. Now she saw with her own eyes. She frowned at the sight as another woman fell down.
"I can't!" She shouted. Pulling more as Alessia shouted again.
"Stop! Stop pulling! It'll kill you!" She shouted. Seeing Amalisa falling to her knees. Alessia felt her eyes dropping tears now.
"I can feel the earth. Every stone. Every tree." Amalisa spoke as she then fell over. The link had broken. Alessia grunted. Shouting as she grabbed the woman's shoulder. Her power had killed her. Killed all the women there.
"No." Was all she could say. Seeing a few Trollocs left running at her. "I said no!" She screamed and released a pulse of energy. Killing the last of the Trollocs before falling to her knees. "Alessia?" A voice spoke as she looked over her shoulder. Seeing a woman in blue walking up towards her.
"Moiraine?" She asked with a frown.
"You're alright." Moiraine spoke as she knelt down. Cupping Alessia's cheek.
"You left without telling me. Left me behind." Alessia spoke softly.
"I had to. Since we learned about your identity. It was too risky to bring you to the Dark One's prison." Moiraine spoke with a frown. "Come. Time to get you back to the Tower." Moiraine spoke as she grabbed Alessia's arm and helped her up. Alessia stood up weakly.
"There's no need." Alessia spoke while looking at Moiraine.
"What are you saying?" Moiraine asked.
"These women are dead because of me. I will never channel again." Alessia replied.
