~ Thank you to everyone who has been reading and leaving me reviews! I love reading what you have to say. :-)
~ I hope you all are enjoying this story, and I would love to hear your thoughts. Drop me some reviews! :-)
I was going to wait longer to post this, but I've already got the next chapter done, so I figured that since I'm back in the writing groove, I might as well keep up with everything. This chapter will have you screaming WTF!? LOL I honestly have no idea where this evil idea came from, but I thought it was pretty funny, so you're welcome! LOL
I hope you all are healthy and doing well. Please, if you haven't been taking Covid seriously, because it has yet to happen to you, I urge you to start IMMEDIATELY! Please follow the health dept guidelines, and practice social distancing, and for the love of all that is good, please PLEASE WEAR A MASK when you go out in public! If you aren't already, please PLEASE take covid seriously! Be smart, be respectful, and wear a mask. My husband and I caught this awful virus a month ago, and we are still fighting to recover. We both suffer from asthma, my husband severely. We will know for sure when he sees the Pulmonologist in a few days, but there is a really high chance that Covid has done irreversible damage to his lungs, and he could end up on oxygen and disability. Also, thanks to Covid, I know have a heart condition. I am waiting to see the cardiologist to find out what we can do at this point, but I am currently stuck in bed because every time I get up, my heart rate skyrockets. I am very dizzy, and falling over when I stand up. This crap is BAD! It's been an full month, as of today, and we are still badly suffering. We have done everything we could to prevent this nightmare from happening, but unfortunately for us, my husband brought it home from work. I wouldn't wish this crap on any of you. Post Covid syndrome is horrible! This is the toughest thing that we've ever been through, and we have two little kids to take care of. So please, PLEASE take this seriously. Get the vaccine when it is your turn, and please do everything you can to keep yourself and your family safe.
Thank you everyone who has posted a review for me to read! I absolutely LOVE reading them! Thank you so much! You guys really keep me going. I really look forward to reading every single one of them. And thank you to everyone who has sent me a private message while I've been away. I appreciate you checking on me. It really means a lot. :-)
"Hey Love, I have that information you asked for." Finn said when Rory answered her phone the next morning.
"Really?! That was quick!" Rory said excitedly.
"Are you sitting down?"
"Of course. But do I need to be?"
"I think it's a good idea. You aren't going to believe what I found out. Is Logan with you?"
"No, he's at work. What's going on? Are you in some kind of trouble?"
"No, not at all. It's just a little shocking. I would have called last night, but I didn't get home until after 2am."
"Alright?"
"I went over to that apartment, and it is definitely occupied."
"Ok? But you got me a name?"
"I got you more than a name. The woman was actually happy to see me."
"Oh really?! She knew you?"
"Do you remember Honor's friend Walker?"
"Wait . . . Walker, like slutty bridesmaid Walker?"
"Slutty bridesmaid, sleeps with anything that moves, Walker."
"What the hell?!"
"There's more."
"Oh geez! Please tell me that you didn't sleep with her. Knowing that she slept with my husband back in college is enough to make me puke!"
"Oh hell no! I know better than to do that. But I also know that with enough alcohol, I can get her talking."
"She definitely got a big mouth from what I can remember. And she is a really sloppy drunk."
"Exactly!"
"So you drank with her?"
"Only enough so she thought I wouldn't remember. But I got her pretty trashed."
"And let me guess, you now know her entire life story."
"I know why she lives in the apartment, yes."
"Oh really?!"
"Is Honor with you?"
"Not at the moment, why? Does she need to be?"
"No, she'll be upset. Logan too. I don't know that I would tell them about this right away."
"Why? How bad is it? You know that I tell Logan everything."
"Mitchum gave Walker the apartment."
"Why would he give one of Honor's friends an apartment? . . ." Rory asked. Finn didn't speak for a moment, silently answering Rory's question. " . . . No way! Slutty sleeps with everything Walker not only slept with my husband years ago, but also slept with his father?!"
"There's more."
"EEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWW! That is so messed up! What a whore!"
"You haven't even heard the whole story. The reason that she has the apartment, was an agreement to keep her big mouth shut."
"Wait, he gave her an apartment so she wouldn't go running her mouth about sleeping with a married man?"
"He got Walker pregnant, then paid for an abortion, and gave her the apartment as hush money."
"Are you effing kidding me!?"
"I would never lie to you."
"Slutty sleeps with everything Walker, was impregnated by my husband's father?!"
"That's what she told me."
"How long ago was this?"
"WHAT!?"
"She had been sleeping with him off and on since college, and ended up pregnant right after Honor's wedding."
"Are you freaking joking right now?! She's been sleeping with Mitchum for that long?!"
"She claims she's been with him off and on since she met him."
"That is so wrong! And no one ever knew?! What the hell!? How long ago was she last with him?"
"She told me last summer."
"Finn, I think I'm going to throw up."
"She's not the only person he's been with. She told me about a few others that she knows of."
"Finn, that is so wrong! I'll never be able to look at Mitchum the same, ever again! I mean, I knew that he had affairs, but I didn't know that they were with his daughter's friends, or that there were so many at a time."
"There are several people in your office who have had affairs with Mitchum as well."
"Please tell me that you have names."
"I have a few."
"Hey, what are you doing right now?"
"You mean other than talking to you?"
"I mean are you busy today?"
"I can play hookey for you."
"Can you come get me and take me to the office? I need to tell Logan about this, but I don't want to do it over the phone, and he won't be home until later this afternoon."
"Will Logan allow me to do that? I don't want to get us in trouble."
"There's a wheelchair in the garage. If I'm in the chair, I'm not moving around. He just doesn't want me walking or moving around, except to go to the bathroom."
"Are you sure about this? I don't want Logan to kill me. I'm quite fond of my life at the moment."
"I promise you Finn. If Logan is going to kill anyone, it'll be Walker. I really need to tell him, and I need to do it face to face. I'll treat you to lunch if you do this for me."
"Now how can I say no to a lunch date with you?"
"I love you Finn! You're the greatest!"
"I'll see you in 15 minutes. Is that long enough?"
"It should be. I'll have Rosalinda help me get ready."
"Alright. I'll see you shortly." Finn said, then disconnected the call.
"Rosalinda? Would you mind coming to help me?" Rory asked, after opening the intercom app on her phone.
"Mrs. Rory, what do you need?" Rosalinda asked, walking into Rory's bedroom a moment later.
"Would you mind helping me get ready to go to the office? Finn is coming to pick me up."
"You need clothes?"
"Yes please. Nothing fancy. Leggings and a top are fine. And would you mind braiding my hair for me?"
"Of course! It's not a problem. I would love to."
"Thanks Rosalinda. I really appreciate you taking such amazing care of me." Rory said as she watched Rosalinda head for her closet.
* ~ * One Hour Later * ~ *
"Finn, why is my wife out of bed?" Logan asked, walking into his office to see Rory sitting next to his desk, and Finn in his oversized leather chair, with his feet propped up on the desk.
"We decided to take a little field trip." Finn answered with a cocky smile.
"You had better not have let her walk down the stairs."
"I had him carry me, with Rosalinda behind him, just in case." Rory told him.
"Normally, I would be happy to see you, but you shouldn't be out of bed." Logan commented, giving his wife a quick kiss.
"Do you have a few minutes. We need to talk to you."
"You came down here to talk to me? You couldn't just call?"
"This isn't exactly something that I wanted you finding out over the phone."
"I have to admit that I'm kind of worried right now, because it's you and Finn. What the hell kind of news do you have to share that both you and Finn are involved in together? If I was anybody else, I would be tempted to ask if you're having an affair, but I know you."
"No, we are definitely NOT the ones having an affair." Finn chuckled
"Alright, my interest is peaked."
"Baby, sit down." Rory told him, reaching for Logan's hand.
"I would, but someone is in my chair . . . And I have a feeling that this news might be taken better if I'm standing."
"I dunno Mate, I mean I was there, and had I not been sitting down, I would have fallen over." Finn told him.
"Probably because you were drunk at the time. You might want to consider sobering up . . . Speaking of, you had better not be driving my wife around while intoxicated."
"I would never put Rory at risk. I thought you would know that by now."
"I love you Finn, but you don't exactly have the best judgment sometimes."
"Logan, he's sober. I promise you. We can discuss this later, but I happen to know Finn a little bit better than you right now. Just trust me on this one. Finn is completely sober." Rory spoke up.
"You can give me a blood alcohol test right now." Finn offered.
"And what brought this on?" Logan asked.
"Finn's sobriety has nothing to do with this. Like I said, we can talk about it later, but I know him better than you do right now . . ." Rory told him.
"Ok . . . So what is this news?"
"Baby, come sit. Please. It will make me feel better."
"How bad is it?"
"It's shocking . . . I asked Finn for a favor yesterday, and he more than came through."
"He wouldn't be Finn if he didn't come through." Logan told her, finally taking a seat in the chair next to Rory.
"You know that list of properties that Doyle gave us?"
"Yeah, you were researching them all night."
"One of the properties is an apartment in a building owned by Morgan Enterprises."
"So you had Finn get you information."
"Oh, I got information alright!" Finn smiled.
"Alright . . ."
"What did you find out?' Logan asked.
* ~ * Flashback * ~ *
"Finn?" a voice asked, as Finn Morgan turned a corner as he headed down a hallway after knocking on an apartment door, having awaited an answer that never came. Finn's head popped up at the sound of his name, and he connected eyes with the source, seeing a woman around his age walking toward him. "Finny, it is you! Wow! What are you doing here?! It is so good to see you! It's been a long time!"
"Walker . . . Hi . . ." Finn said, forcing a smile onto his face.
"Finny, what are you doing here? I haven't seen you in years! Are you living here now?"
"Just checking out the building. It's one of the family properties. Just making sure everything is up to snuff."
"Really? I didn't know that your family owns this building. I thought it was owned by the Huntzberger group?"
"Nope. It's Morgan Enterprises."
"Huh! That's interesting . . . It's good to see you Finn. We should catch up sometime. I live at the end of the hall."
"You do?"
"Yeah, I've been here for several years now. Do you want to come check it out? You know, make sure that everything is up to snuff?"
"Uh, yeah, that would probably be a good idea. How do you like living here? Have you had any problems?"
"No, it's actually pretty quiet. I've lived in much worse places. My apartment is pretty nice. Your family really owns the building? Did they just buy it?"
"No, we've had it for a while."
"Huh . . ."
"Why do you ask?"
"Oh, no reason . . . I just know that my apartment is owned by the Huntzberger Group. I just thought they owned the property."
"They own several places throughout the city. How did you end up with a Huntzberger property?"
"I'm good friends with Honor, remember? And I kind of used to have a thing with Logan, but that was a really long time ago."
"He's married now." Finn commented as he followed Walker to her apartment.
"What?! You're kidding?!"
"He got married last fall. He's got a baby on the way."
"Little Logan the horn dog Huntzberger, is married!?"
"He fell in love."
"With who?! That guy was never capable of being in any kind of relationship unless it was with Jameson."
"Macallan." Finn corrected.
"That's right. Logan is a prude like that . . . He really got married?"
"He's really happy."
"Does he even have a job? I heard that he's not working for Daddy anymore."
"He's a doctor."
"What!? Since when?! I know he couldn't possibly have bought that degree, because Daddy cut him off years ago!"
"He went to school and earned it like a normal person."
"Wow! Really?! He's really a doctor?"
"People change." Finn said as Walker stopped in front of her apartment door, and dug her keys out of her purse.
"That's crazy! How in the world did he pull that one off?!"
"Lots of hard work. Do you have any concerns with living here? Is the building ok? Do you need any repairs done?"
"No, anything I've needed, I just call Mitchum Huntzberger and he takes care of it."
"Cheapskate Mitchum Huntzberger? That doesn't sound right."
"He's actually a really cool landlord. He pretty much lets me do whatever I want." Walker told him as she led Finn inside. "Would you like a drink?"
"Maybe just one. I have a lot to do."
"Oh come on Finny! You can look around the apartment like a good little corporate inspector, and then hang out with me for a while. We can catch up."
"So Mitchum takes care of anything you need?"
"Yeah, he's really chill. My fridge died over the summer, and he bought me a new one. I just call him with whatever problem I have, and he takes care of it."
"How does that work with the big change over at Huntzberger? I heard that Mitchum isn't part of the business anymore." Finn told her as Walker led him into the kitchen, and set her purse on the counter, then moved to the cupboard and pulled out a couple glasses.
"What change over? Since when Is Mitchum not part of the business? He owns that place."
"When is the last time that you talked to Mitchum?"
"I think like August? He was here when the new fridge was delivered."
"Aren't you friends with Honor?"
"Well yeah, but she's been really busy lately. I called her yesterday, but she was too busy to hang out. She said that she has family in town, or something."
"Mitchum had a heart attack in the fall."
"WHAT!?"
"You really didn't know?" Finn asked, seeing Walker pause while pouring drinks.
"Is he ok? Maybe I should call him to check on him."
"If you didn't know, then you also don't know that Mitchum doesn't have a phone anymore. He's been at a private treatment center."
"But what about the business?"
"Logan's wife is the new CEO."
"WHAT!?" Walked screeched, spinning around to face Finn.
"Logan and Honor asked her to step in when Mitchum got sick, and then he officially stepped down, and handed the business over to her."
"He gave it to Logan's WIFE!? What happened to Logan taking over?"
"Logan didn't want it."
"Does his wife even know anything about running a business? She's probably never worked a day in her life, right? What, is she just the pretty face that people see, while someone else is actually doing all the work?"
"Nope! You've actually met his wife."
"Oh really!?"
"At Honor's wedding."
"I was pretty wasted at Honor's wedding." Walker chuckled, handing Finn a drink, then quickly downing her own, before pouring a second one.
"I heard that."
"So she was at the wedding? Who's rich daughter is she?"
"She was Logan's date."
"Logan didn't have a date that night. And Logan left right after the wedding."
"I don't know all the details, but I was told that she was there, and that she hung out with Honor and the bridesmaids before the wedding."
"Wait . . . I kind of remember some random chick being there. I think she was brunette."
"That would have been her."
"She was really goody goody. Kind of snobbish. I have no idea what he would even see in her. Logan deserved better than that girl."
"Logan married that girl."
"Ewww! Like for real?! I thought he was just dating her to make his parents crazy or something?"
"Rory has been really good for him."
"You said that Logan has a baby on the way?"
"She's due this spring."
"For real?! Please tell me that they're hiring a Nanny, because we all know that irresponsible Logan has no idea what to do with a child!"
"Not that I know of."
"What the hell?! Mitchum must be PISSED!"
"Not that I've seen."
"How in the world did someone like that end up married to Logan, and taking over his family's company?"
"Logan handed it to her." Finn shrugged, watching Walker down her second drink, then pour a third.
"Do you want some more of this?"
"No thanks, I'm still working on this one."
"So Mitchum is really gone now?"
"From the company, yes. So if you need anything fixed here, you should probably let me, or the property manager know about it, and I'll figure out how to get it taken care of."
"I can just call Mitchum."
"He doesn't have a phone anymore. I think it's been disconnected. You could try calling the office, and talking to Rory about it. She's the one in charge now."
"I don't think that she likes me very much."
"Rory likes everybody."
"She didn't like me at the wedding. She was pretty snobby."
"You said that you were drunk."
"I was. I don't remember much, but she was a total Debbie Downer."
"Well she is running the business now."
"What about Logan? Can't I call him instead?"
"You might be able to try, but he isn't the one making business decisions. Logan works at the hospital."
"What hospital?"
"Columbia, across town."
"You're serious? He's really a doctor?!" Walker asked as she finished off her glass again, grabbed the bottle of alcohol off the counter, and headed out of the kitchen.
"You really don't talk to Honor much, do you?"
"Not about her family. They are way too boring for me. I mostly just call her if I need something. Like the other day, this guy I was seeing, Jack, he was starting to get too clingy and I needed advice about how to get rid of him."
"Honor is definitely good for advice. What did she tell you?"
"She didn't. She just said that she couldn't talk because she had family in town, and that she would try to call me later on. She totally blew me off!"
"How long have you been seeing Jack?" Finn asked as Walked flopped down on her couch, patting the seat to her left, beckoning Finn to join her.
"A few weeks. But he's not that great."
"You don't like him?"
"He's not very good looking." Walker told him, making a face as she poured herself another drink. "He's not too hot, but he's good in bed. Definitely one of the better guys that I've been with."
"But you said he's clingy?"
"He mentioned wanting to get serious and that we should think about settling down. Like who does that!?"
"You mean other than everyone we know?"
"Not me. I'll never settle down! That's not something that I will ever do. I am a free bird! I can't even commit to a pair of shoes, much less some lame boy! I like my freedom! I like to go out, I like to have fun. And if I meet a guy that I enjoy fooling around with, I'll bring him home, and get some use out of him for a few days, but after that, I'm done. I can't do the commitment thing."
"You don't want to get married and have a family someday?"
"Christ, no! Can you imagine what it would be like to be stuck sleeping with the same irritating guy, for the rest of your life?! It's no wonder the divorce rate is so high. Even married men need variety sometimes."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean they get tired of screwing the same brainless chick all the time. I can't even tell you how many married men have come to me, begging me to put out, just so they can get some variety back in their lives. I always tell them that they should just get a divorce, and be done with it. No one should be stuck with the same boring lay day after day."
"How many married men have you slept with?"
"A lot!" Walker giggled, as she took a large swig of her drink.
"You don't care that they're married?"
"Why would I care about some brainless bimbo that I've never met? I don't even care about the wives that I HAVE met. They clearly aren't doing a very good job of keeping their man happy, so why shouldn't I let them have a little bit of fun for a night?!"
"You aren't worried about destroying someone else's family?"
"It's just sex Finny. They come over here, they have a little bit of fun with me, then they go back to their boring wives and kids, until they are completely miserable again a few weeks later, and then they come crawling back to me for another night of fun."
"And that doesn't seem wrong to you?"
"How can it be wrong to give someone that kind of pleasure?! Clearly the poor guys' wives can't provide it, so someone needs to take care of their needs. I even took care of Mitchum's needs last time he was here."
"You did . . ."
"I've been taking care of Mitchum for years now!"
"You have?"
"Don't tell Logan, but his Dad is a much better lay that he is!"
"I wouldn't know."
"Logan was alright, but right after I slept with him, Mitchum called me needing some special attention. Logan was just whiny. I only slept with him out of pity. He was acting all pathetic over at his parents' house one night, and we were both drunk, . I only slept with him so he would shut up about the dumb girl he had been dating. I didn't even enjoy it."
"I'm sorry."
"It's just fun to know that I could have both Honor's brother AND her father, if I wanted to. But I don't do commitment."
"You must have some kind of commitment for Mitchum to be your landlord. Mitchum doesn't trust just anyone."
"I'm just one of the many girls that Mitchum has on the side. You know that Mitchum doesn't even like his wife. He never liked her to begin with."
"I didn't know that."
"He told me years ago, the first time I hooked up with him."
"How long ago was that?"
"I don't know . . . Back in college."
"Wow!"
"Mitchum calls when he's in town and needs to get laid. And if I'm not available he'll call Monica or Gretel. Or the new chick that he brought with him last time . . . I think her name was Cindy or something. She worked in his office. Chick had never hooked up with another chick before."
"Interesting."
"I might have taught her a thing or two." Walker giggled as she finished off her drink again, before trying to pour herself another drink, only to find that the bottle was empty. "Boo! I need another bottle! Finny, be a good boy, and go fetch me another bottle from the kitchen!"
* ~ * End Of Flashback * ~ *
"Holy shit!" Logan exclaimed as he sat there listening to Finn recalling the events of the previous night.
"Dude, that chick is freaking crazy!"
"I've always known that my Dad was never faithful to my mother, but I had no idea that he was sleeping with my sister's friends! That's sick!"
"There's still more." Rory told him.
"How is there still more?!"
"Well, apparently the reason that your Dad gave her the apartment, was to keep her big mouth shut."
"Which the chick clearly hasn't done since she was blabbing to Finn."
"Mitchum gave Walker the apartment after she had an abortion." Finn told him.
"WHAT!?" Logan spat out, jumping from his seat next to Rory.
"The apartment was hush money after Mitchum paid for her abortion."
"Please tell me that you are kidding!"
"Trust me, I wish I didn't know all of this. When I told Rory, she said that she will never be able to look at The Dark Lord the same way, ever again."
"Holy shit! You are seriously telling me that skanky Walker was knocked up by my poor excuse for a father?!"
"That's what she told me."
"What the HELL!?"
"Well, not that I will ever agree with what she did, but at least she had an abortion, so you aren't stuck having her or her moron spawn as a part of your family, for the rest of your life." Finn told him.
"As much as a relief as that is, I can't imagine her as a mother! Even Britney Spears is a better mother than that chick could ever hope to be!"
"My sock drawer would be a better mother than her." Rory commented.
"Did she happen to tell you how long ago all of this happened?" Logan asked, beginning to pace around the office.
"She said that it happened right after Honor's wedding. She said something about being really drunk and Mitchum offering to escort her home after the reception." Finn told him.
"After my sister's wedding!? That is so WRONG!"
"You're telling me!"
"So I'm guessing that my sister has no idea, because she would have killed that dumb chick herself."
"As much as I love Honor, and think that she deserves to know about all of this, I don't think that right now is the best time for us to tell her." Rory commented as she watched Logan pace. "Honor has a lot going on with taking care of your parents, and I don't think that she can handle this kind of sick drama on top of everything else."
"Oh hell no! Honor would booth the both from her house!"
"Exactly! And we both know that you parents aren't capable of taking care of themselves right now."
"Oh hell no! But at this point, the questions is whether or not I actually care."
"Well, the good news is that we now know exactly who lives in that property, so I can call Collin, and have the tramp evicted as soon as possible, so we can sell the apartment."
"Or maybe just burn it down."
"You can't burn down my building, Mate." Finn told him. "You're my best friend, but my parents would freak!"
I can't wait to read all or your reactions! Please, drop me a review and let me know what you think. :-D
