Disclaimer: I call this Midseason, but it's not going on break. (Or the middle of the season, it's 22 episodes, oh well) Essential to say, however, the next two official chapters could possibly be a crossover, which was suggested by MVP reader, C.G. It's not 100% it'll be that. Guess you'll find out in 2 weeks or 3. Or read her review comment in the coming day, but beware of spoilers naturally. It'll be two parts and will offer some ties to the main plots happening in the series. It's not essential if you hate crossovers for whatever reason. You just might miss some hints to the future or information about past details of this world. Hope you will read it. Thank you for reading to this point. I'm forever, thankfully.
On with why you're here!
Kate and Ryan returned to the Batcave. It was still super exciting for Ryan to see this place. Especially now, after getting more trust from Kate.
"Anything suspicious? I've got a bad feeling clawing away at me," Kate declared, sitting down and taking a breath.
"Nope, nothing as of yet. Gotham's on high alert from all that's happened tonight. The good news, all of those goons attacking Arkham were apprehended, and it appears no escapes were made. No supervillains made an escape either!" Luke said, trying his best to cheer up Kate, who was entirely on edge.
"Where's Mary?" She asked, looking around.
"Went home, tried this thing called sleeping," Luke joked.
"Neither have I," Kate replied back.
Ryan came over to them, awkwardly. "I hate to do this, but I gotta. Can see my phone's been blown up with worried texts and missed calls. She's going to be so pissed. Oh, and my lies will totally add to that!" She exclaimed, shaking her head.
"It'll be fine, Ryan, shouldn't keep her waiting any longer. You did well today," Kate said, nodding at her giving a slight smile.
"Thank you, Kate. It means a lot to me. Thank you for trusting me," She turned to leave, then stopped. "Um, how the heck do I leave?" She questioned.
"Luke, do you wanna show h-" Before she could finish, Luke spoke up instead.
"We've got someone inside your office!" He exclaimed, surprised.
Kate looked at the screens. "I'll deal with it. Good thing we've got that secret entrance, right?" She said, sounding a little different like she knew who they were but was unsure. "Just get Ryan out safely, alright? I'm fine. I'll deal with her," Kate declared, heading upstairs while Luke listened and took Ryan out.
She shortly entered her office, seeing a face from her past.
"Do you remember my name after all these years, I wonder, Kate Kane?" The woman asked confidently with a smile.
"I do," Kate said, a little intimidated and moved closer, trying to hide that. "Safiyah Sohail."
"You do remember, I'm glad. We have a lot to discuss. I missed you," She said with a wide, warm, but somehow ominous smile across her face. Inviting, but other intentions laid beneath the surface.
Batwoman
Everyone seen in season 1 or 2, or etc., is the same, including Ruby Rose as Kate Kane.
Vanessa Morgan is Ryan Wilder
Stephanie Beatriz is Renee Montoya.
Grace Gummer is Whisper.
? Is Knife (For sure not the show's future version)
"Why are you here?" Kate asked, highly on edge.
Safiyah walked closer. "As I said, I missed you, and I admit some business is being had in Gotham City with my company."
"Which you stole," Kate replied unimpressed, crossing her arms.
She nodded. "For the better I have it, you know that, don't you? They were monsters destroying my home, don't you remember that, like you do my name? My body, perhaps?" She said, getting uncomfortably close to Kate, who backed up.
"Stop. That's all the past. We're both changed people, it's been years, and I don't want to be with you anymore. You lied. I know you have and might have killed people. You or that company, I've heard stories."
She sighed. "The Kali Corporation has been much better under my leadership. We're coming to Gotham and have many plans. You should think highly of a partnership Kate, we're going to make a big impact!"
Kate shook her head, confused. "You're very different. The woman I remember wouldn't be running them."
"That woman didn't understand everything fully, now I do, and I've changed for that better. Say, have you seen Batwoman? Impressive, isn't she?"
She nodded, skeptical. "Yes, I have. She's something."
"I wondered many nights ever since she first showed up in Gotham, whoever might be behind that mask. Quite a mystery, isn't it? Would you happen to have any guesses?"
"None, she's quite the mystery. They're not my kinda thing. Just trying to focus on this company and making Gotham a better place for all those living here. Even if I make some powerful enemies, not planning on standing by letting powerful companies come in with malicious intentions," She replied, staring at Safiyah coldly.
She wasn't happy about that response in the slightest, which was shown from her face becoming colder. "You think so low of me. I've gotta head out, much to do while setting up shop here. Make good choices, Kate, wouldn't want anything happening to you."
Kate watched as Safiyah let and shook her head. Not telling Luke about this. She thought to herself.
Elsewhere, Alice was currently searching for a safe hiding place. One where Safiyah wouldn't be able to find her. She had to call upon the remainder of her forces that escaped or were still active before helping with this mission. Until a better place could be uncovered, she was hiding in a disgusting old apartment building with a couple of her minions.
"Keep your eyes peeled! No blinking!" She exclaimed.
"Um, this seems like an overreaction boss. How dangerous could one woman be?" One of the two asked.
Alice looked angered. "She's no woman. She's a monster! Not to mention all the resources at her disposal! Her people, allies everywhere, I've got nothing compared to her! You two would be killed without a second thought! Like little insects stepped on! Would you two geniuses like that?"
They both shook their heads naturally.
"Good, we're going to have to be smarter! No outsiders! We work within our group, our gang! No idiot rich men or traitorous people from my past! Damn them all! We're going to be so much better this time!" She exclaimed confidently, despite saying this many times before and the opposites happening instead.
In another part of Gotham, Ryan had returned at last. Coming face to face with her girlfriend once more, who quickly ran to hug her tightly.
"I was so worried about you! Thought that monster might have killed you or hurt you. Ryan, you did confront him right?" Whisper asked.
It was difficult, but Ryan knew she had to lie here. "No, I tried, but didn't. Batwoman was able to take him on, from what I heard, twice tonight. She's even got a sidekick, or partner, whatever."
She scoffed. "Fun fact, I listened to Vesper Fairchild and checked any information I could get my hands on tonight. Photos were taken. We live in the 21 first century. I know what you look like, very much. Oh and, you're wearing the same clothing!" She exclaimed pissed at the blatant lies.
"Crap," Ryan muttered and sighed. "Your right. I was helping Batwoman. She stopped me from killing Scarecrow."
"Sounds good. You're not the killing type. Might not be a fan of Batwoman in the slightest, but can understand why you'd help her this one time. Right? You wouldn't lie about what you're doing with her, or if you know her identity," Whisper said, staring intently at Ryan.
"I don't know who she is," Ryan replied, giving her the best possible poker face.
She crossed her arms. "We both hate talking family, but you know. They were born liars, all of them. You know what they've done and how disgusting manipulators they are. Being around them, I know lies, all kinds. You are lying right now. I'm not furious. I can hear from your tone and your body it's to protect Batwoman right? She's the hero of Gotham and you don't wanna break her trust by revealing her secret. I sense fear too. I forgive you. Just don't make this a habit. I know you're a good person and have reasons for what you do. If you trust Batwoman, I will too. As long as you keep her the hell away from my operations, especially this big one. Already screwed me before and I've got a big meeting in a couple of days."
Ryan nodded. "Okay, I understand. Thank you. And I'll try to keep Batwoman away from your operations if I see her again."
"You're lying again."
"Sorry, long night. Could we still, you know? Be together. I sleep the best while I'm with you, really need you after tonight," Ryan replied, trying to avoid the topic of lies.
"Of course, I sleep best with you too. You know I hate sleeping alone too, always wondering if I'll be okay when I awake. Let's just go, talk more in the morning," Whisper put her arms around Ryan and they went off to bed. A feeling of tension was formed however, which was apparent from their faces.
Kate Kane sat in her apartment, researching The Kali Corporation and Safiyah Sohail intently for hours to understand what she was doing here. Didn't want to tell Luke or risk him finding out about her, until she discovered her intentions. Despite all this intense research, she knew he would've had more access to more information. She found nothing public, only rumours and theories about sinister events in their history. Nothing concrete at all. She highly suspected something horrible was afoot, which wouldn't be too hard to stop if she could get a lead.
A knock came from her front door, which she was on edge about until checking her hidden security cams seeing Julia. She then calmly answered and let her in.
"What are you doing here?" Kate asked.
"To talk about Sophie's little secret. You wanted to know, remember?" She replied, surprised, Kate forgot.
"Right, sorry. A bit distracted, got another problem, just tell me what's happening with Sophie. Why would Montoya want her to what? Spy on my dad?"
Julia nodded. "Yeah, from what Sophie said, it sounds like Montoya doesn't trust him and might wanna keep tabs."
"That's horrible, even if I understand why. I thought the commissioner was better than that, I'm going to tell her-"
Kate was cut off. "Do what, Luv? Tell Montoya you know about this? That would hurt Sophie and we both know she's not stupid, would have to wonder why Batwoman cares about Jacob Kane. Which could expose your identity!"
"No, I've spoken with the commissioner multiple times now. We have an understanding. I trust she would do the right thing and see reason," Kate sighed and thought for a moment. "You're right. I hate to admit it on second thoughts. I don't know much about her, so I should play safe. What did Sophie even end up doing?"
"She's split."
"Yeah, I should've figured. She's like a daughter to my dad, not sure if they're that close anymore, but I know Sophie cares about him. Even if he's making bad choices, just like I do. Tell me if she makes a choice?" Kate asked.
"Of course, love breaking the trust of my girlfriend," She said sarcastically. "What about your other problem?"
Kate showed her laptop. "You remember Safiyah Sohail? Quite sure I mentioned her from my past, during my travels which I know you remember some of."
"Yeah, I liked spending time with you, even if it was a request from Bruce. Don't remember her too well in all honesty," She replied, which was a lie, but Kate didn't know that. "We shouldn't tell Sophie about this. She's going through enough already."
"Agree and wasn't planning on telling her. I do wonder if the Crows could get information that I can't get," Kate wondered, looking at Julia.
She crossed her arms. "You want me to use their servers and my access to get a better clue about this Safiyah? Could you just get Luke to do that? If Jacob is suspicious of me or catches me, that means bad news for Sophie."
"I don't wanna tell Luke about this, her. My past and what we did together. I can deal with her easy enough, she's got a company. I find one wrongdoing and she's done for! Taken to jail, out of my life again. Shouldn't be hard finding her dirty laundry or at least a clue with your access," Kate expressed confidently.
"Like I said, I can't take the risk of being exposed. I'm sorry."
"Fine, fine. I can find another way. This is just between us for now," Kate said, yawning.
Julia put a hand on her shoulder. "You should get some rest, and I gotta keep an eye on Mary. Especially with this woman around."
Kate reluctantly agreed with a nod as Julia left.
She went to lay down and passed it nearly immediately.
Hours passed by, and she awoke to her phone blowing up.
She grunted and answered it. "What's the matter?" She asked unsure who called.
It was Luke. "Kate! Finally! Tried calling you a few times now! We've got ourselves an issue! Three robberies attacking three different companies just occurred all at once. They attacked so fast, there was no time to for GCPD or Crow response."
"Great, anything I can use to find what we're dealing with? A detail?"
"Yeah, apparently, you're going to love this. They were pirates. Seems pretty outlandish and not like a conventional criminal for Gotham," Luke admitted.
"Pirates? Are you positive?"
"Without a doubt!"
Kate sighed, making sure he wouldn't hear. "Okay, I'm going to get to the cave and get a hold of Ryan," She said, heading out, going to the Batcave.
"This must be some kind of a joke! How are pirates in Gotham and so organized! I want them found!" Jacob Kane exclaimed e yelling at a bunch of Crows who left after he finished. While Sophie entered next.
"You wanted to see me?" She asked, a little nervous.
He nodded at her and looked at his screen. "We're being hired by a new company making its way into Gotham. The Kali Corporation. Something about them rubs me the wrong way, you know? I want you to dig into them. We should know who we're going into business with. Even if the mayor seems to want, these dealings going down smoothly."
Sophie looked confused. "Why me? Can't get someone else on this?"
He shook his head. "Only you. I want someone who I can trust. Could you do this?"
"Yeah, yes, sir. I'll get it done. I'll transfer anything I find as soon as possible," Sophie left the office but was feeling skeptical. She wondered if Jacob might have learnt something and was screwing with her. Giving busy work distracting her from learning anything that could in theory be told to Montoya. She wasn't going to go through with it and part of her wondered why Montoya thought she'd flip on Jacob. Or how he thought she would be a mole, even with all the questionable and anti teamwork with the GCPD. Sophie at the end of the day still believed in the Crows.
While she pondered, as did commander Kane, who had many things on the brain. Not knowing who could be trusted and overall increasingly angry.
Elsewhere, more of Alice's people returned as her paranoia of Safiyah was only increasing further.
"She's already got her people making movement! What could she be doing! It must be revenge. She wants us dead! A big move of revenge! Something bold, unexpected!" She exclaimed to nobody in particular.
"Is it uh, possible this lady isn't that dangerous? Who'd hold a grudge for this long?"
Alice glared at the goon who asked this. "I broke their rules, caused some trouble, I'm lucky to have survived this long! I just don't understand why she'd pick now of all times to seek her revenge! At least we have a chance. How much of our forces have been brought together?" The few goons with her started to look nervous.
Alice stepped forward. "Well? We don't have all day!"
"Under thirty as of now, some are in hiding, but most are dead or in prison ma'am."
She twitched her eyes. "Your kidding right? If that's the case, we're screwed! I need more useful minions. Get everyone together. I think we should hold out for a bit! I need a secure base of operations."
"Yes, Alice," All of her people said and left the room.
She stared out her window holding her knife closely, waiting for Safiyah to attack.
Meanwhile, Kate had reached the Batcave along with Ryan.
"What do we have?" Kate asked, approaching Luke.
"Same as when you last asked. Nothing. Seems like people are wanting answers, but those must be like, ghost pirates?" He joked.
She shrugged. "It's possible, got practically everything in this gift-wrapped universe. Think the Legends might have dealt with some."
"I-I was joking. There aren't any ghosts. That would be ridiculous."
"I'd have to agree with Luke here," Ryan said coming over.
Kate laughed to herself. "Okay, you can believe that. Then how did these pirates pull this off without being caught or an eye witness getting a good enough look beside their ships? And piraty attires? Could this be a trick?" She questioned.
"Why would people be playing dress up as pirates?" He questioned back.
"Fair enough," She turned away from him for a moment and Ryan could tell she was hiding something, but didn't think of confronting her. "Could you get Julia to escort Mary down here again? I just got a bad feeling and would feel a million times better if she was here safe and sound."
Luke nodded skeptically. "Okay, it's uh, always nice having Mary around." He cleared his throat. "I'm currently looking into other crimes that could relate to this or any events those pirates might want to steal from. So far, I got nothing. Looking into ships now coming into Gotham, could be a clue,"
"Good thinking, Ryan, we should head to the docks in person. Scope out the area and might find our pirates."
She nodded slightly. "Do you have any suits or something? Just, you know. This hoodie isn't the best get up. I'm vulnerable bullet wise and secret identity wise."
"Yeah, true. Okay, how about, you make yourself a better suit once we get back?" Kate suggested shrugging.
"So what? I gotta make myself a suit? Can't Luke wipe me up one?"
He scratched his head. "Sorry, it's not really in my specialty. Batman already had his suit constructed. I only really know how to modify it. Which even then takes some time. It's still vulnerable to something like Kryptonite as it can cut through virtually anything, and Batman figured people wouldn't expect Kryptonite being his weakness too."
"You don't have to call him Batman. I know he's Bruce Wayne. I'll admit, didn't think he'd be Batman. Someone like him protecting Gotham every night, crazy. Anyways, I'll make myself a suit then until you could perhaps get one created for me?"
Kate nodded and looked at Luke.
"Okay, okay. I'll try getting you something, it'll take time and won't be like Kate's. That's one of a kind, sadly."
Ryan frowned but went along with Kate heading to the docks.
On the way riding along with Ryan who didn't have a way of transport yet, Batwoman decided she should inform Montoya, who Luke would be able to get a hold of with his hacker power. Whatever it was, she didn't understand or care to understand how it all worked.
"Batwoman?" She asked, surprised.
"Yeah, sorry for trying a different approach. Just wanted to give a heads up about this pirate thing. You should check the docks. I'm heading there now with my partner."
Hearing that made Ryan smile.
"About that, we're already here. They made a break for it once we moved in, three ships and all of them left. Caught one of them, cut their tongue out which is disgusting and one of the first times I've latterly seen someone do that. Do you have a bat boat or something? We've got a chopper following them from a distance."
Kate sighed. "No, sorry. The previous owner seems to have misplaced it."
"Serious? Why would he do that?" Ryan questioned, trying to not raise her voice too loud to interrupt their conversation.
"Too bad, would've been helpful. You got any other toys that could help?" She asked.
"None, apologies, commissioner. We're going to check on another lead," Batwoman hung up with a sigh.
"Another lead? Did I miss something?" Ryan questioned, confused.
"Shorta, wasn't hoping to ask. Luke, could you try to find where The Kail Corporation is located in Gotham currently."
He was confused as well. "Who the heck are they?"
"I've got a hunch they could be involved alright? Can you just do your thing please?"
"Okay, I'll take a couple minutes or- Oh never mind. It seems like they're not in Gotham. Why did you think they were?" Luke asked.
"Keep looking, and I know for a fact their CEO is here," Kate said, a bit aggravated.
"How would you happen to know that?"
"Doesn't matter, just do it. Please." She hung up on him.
Ryan wasn't sure what to say, feeling quite awkward. "So, should I ask what's going on?"
"I'd prefer not. Would knocking some heads in be something to do? Feel pretty inclined to hit something stupid right about now," Kate admitted.
"Sounds good," Ryan replied, still unsure of what to think.
Alice was walking around in cycles, starting to sweat when a sound of breaking glass could be heard. "What was that!" She shouted at her guards who rushed to investigate. "No, no, no." She muttered to herself sitting on the floor.
Shortly the woman known as Knife and a few goons walked in with a slight amount of blood on them.
"You shouldn't have tried reorganizing. Perhaps if you made better choices we wouldn't be here," Knife expressed shaking her head.
"I don't regret anything, just not killing you before making my escape. It would've made life a lot easier and I think I've pissed you all off enough. So, is this where it ends?" She asked giving up.
Another familiar woman walked in. "Alice, Alice. What would you say curiouser and curiouser? I am, you, willing to accept death with open arms. Our many arms of death, one could say." Safiyah Sohail declared, standing before her.
"I can't believe it, you standing here in the flesh. In my vicinity, it seems a little dangerous, doesn't it? I thought you were a coward, getting others to do what you wanted. Killed my people, made me try to take out Batwoman for you. Somehow got a madman like Scarecrow to work for you! So what? You wanted to use me as a secret pawn once again. How typical of you, using people without them knowing, you like that don't you?"
She laughed softly to herself. "You know, it's a small world. Met Scarecrow years ago, perhaps even before you did. Yes,' She paused. "Anyways you unknowingly assisting us and graciously tried to kill Batwoman with that railgun was the least you could do for us. Me. And yet you couldn't even do something as simple as that. Now she's grown, even heard she's got a partner and not to mention appearing to be chummy with Supergirl. Call me a coward and from what I've heard you had yourself the perfect chance to kill both of them, yet you passed it off to your minions as well. How hypocritical of you," Safiyah declared mockingly.
Alice closed her eyes. "Just get this over with. End this!" She shouted.
Safiyah laughed quite heavily at this. "Tahani, can you believe her? You always painted Alice as perhaps the most disgraceful person to step foot on our island. Yet, she's this simple minded after all these years. Not understanding how we work, how I'm treating your punishment."
"I can think of one worse," Tahani, aka Knife, muttered to herself, as Safiyah continued.
"The punishment I have in mind for you is far worse than death. That would be anti climatic. What I want is petty revenge, exactly what cost us so much. Damaged our people, our home. Don't fear, you still have a chance at redemption."
Alice's face lit up. "I do? Please do tell! I'll do anything for a second chance!" She exclaimed, bagging at Safiyah's feet, which made the woman smirk.
"It's not simple, life isn't so can't be too big of a surprise. I'll even throw in a surprise bonus if you behave for me, would you like that Alice?"
She smiled. "Tell me more! I'll do whatever!" She exclaimed desperately.
Elsewhere, Julia was hanging around with Sophie, who was investigating The Kali Corporation which led to a shocking discovery.
"What the hell? Safiyah Sohail is their CEO? The woman who you said is after you? Us? My head is spinning here."
"I swear, didn't know about that. When I met her, she wasn't. I think. Could've lied."
Sophie shook her head putting her hand over her mouth. "How don't I know you're lying right now? This is a big deal, your not stupid. How could you have missed this?"
"Look in my eyes, I swear I didn't know," Julia said staring into Sophie's eyes.
"Okay, I'm sorry, shouldn't have jumped to conclusions."
"Don't be. It's fine." Julia replied, finding it hard to now look at her.
Sophie stared at the info about Safiyah Sohail. "What do we do now? They want Crow protection. This must mean something, right? It can't be a coincidence. We should let Jacob know about this. Could make him trust me again."
"No, I don't think it's a great idea."
"Why not?" Sophie questioned, surprised.
"Easy Luv, we can't take her down. We've got nothing, just my word against hers. She's a clever one. We gotta be clever too and take risks."
Sophie sighed and put her head on the desk. "I'm falling apart, lying. That feel gas only made all those feelings so much worse," She whispered.
"I know, I know. It's hard lying to people you care about. Wouldn't wish it upon you. Hate how your getting dragged into so many messes. Can't help but wonder-" Julia paused.
"Wonder what?"
"If things might be going much better for you if you never had met me. Maybe you'd have gotten back with Kate, or how about that Elle?"
She was surprised. "Where is this coming from? I know we have issues, but I thought we were good?"
"We are. I just hate this. Hurting you, breaks my heart."
"You're not hurting me Julia, nothing would be different apart from not having the confidence to be out with a woman. I was scared, but being with you makes me feel free, alive. Like I've never been before, I've always had fears, now I don't."
Julia smiled slightly and felt her phone vibrating. "Crap, important call. One moment, just promise to keep that Safiyah business a secret, alright? We'll figure it out. Just tell him everything is perfectly fine and to go through with it," She walked off.
Sophie was left with a choice, one which wasn't so simple for her as Julia was making it seem. It never was simple lately.
Elsewhere, Batwoman and Ryan were bumbling on a bunch of thugs who were having themselves a meeting, with drugs involved. The two quickly dispatched them, getting the drop on them, working a bit better as partners, but still having a ways to go. Both got a couple hits from behind, expecting their partner to have their back. Nevertheless, together it was easy enough winning and destroying all the drugs.
"That get you in a better mood?" Ryan asked, sarcastically.
"Semi. Still not open or better enough to say everything about my suspicions of our new problem. I'll say, I knew Safiyah Sohail and the island she lived on during that time had a large number of pirates hanging around. Something tells me not much has changed. Apart from her, now a CEO of this Kali Corporation which I do recall she trash talked."
"Wonder why she'd join up with them and get to CEO so fast? Seems a little fishy, isn't it?" Ryan wondered.
"Agree, I don't trust her. We spent a lot of time together, when I was around her I knew she kept secrets. Taught me a lot about criminals and being able to tell when I'm being played, wasn't the best thing for her to teach me. Leart important things from our time together." She sighed. "I'm convinced these people are related to her or The Kali Corporation one way or another. Don't tell Luke, I'll tell him when I'm ready, okay?"
Ryan nodded in agreement. "Seems crazy, you fell in love with a possible pirate and now CEO of a potentially sinister company. All from an island I've never heard of. Girl, you live a wildlife!"
"You don't know the half of it, I've got more to tell and that's not even the half of wild crap I've been through in my life." Kate cleared her throat, closing back up after exposing herself a little to Ryan." We should get a move on. When we get a lead on her, I'm going to knock her metaphorical door down. Waiting is the worst. Hate this sitting around when she's out doing who knows what,' Kate expressed.
"Hey, we did take down these dealers and have the cops on the way. We're getting criminals off the street. That's a big deal, for me at least," Ryan replied.
"That's true, you know what. It's been crazy this week. Let's just call it a night. Still pretty new being partners, new for me working with someone in the field. Been used to flying solo," Kate admitted.
Ryan agreed with her face, now having an awkward feeling.
Later, Kate brought her back to the orphanage, still keeping distance to avoid being spotted by anyone.
Ryan entered her home, finding her girlfriend waiting as usual. She seemed a bit distracted, however, looking at something intently.
"What's up, dear?" Ryan said, a little cheeky.
"Nothing, it's fine and wait, dear? That's new."
Ryan laughed. "Was checking if you were paying attention. Do you not like being called that?"
She smiled. "Oh, you can call me anything," They kissed. "So, I've got kinda a big question to ask."
"Okay, shot," Ryan replied.
"Remember that important meeting I mentioned? So, you know your friend attacking my last real operation, which I do regret in hindsight. Shouldn't have helped Alice, even a little bit, knew would only lead to disaster. These people told me to do it. Still don't know why. And all my people I used to work with basically have bailed out, better offers or chickening out. Can't blame them, a bat comes knocking, better to give up."
Ryan looked unsure. "So what are you asking?"
"I need help, someone to watch my back. These people make me nervous. It's going down tomorrow, ironing out details of transport. Once it's all worked out and they got whatever it is, we're going to be rich! We could leave Gotham or whatever we'd want! Our dream is in grasp. Can you help me?" She asked, pleading to Ryan.
"I mean, yeah. I could. How exactly would you need help?"
Whisper held her hands. "Just look tough and protect me if for whatever reason they turn on us. These people come from outside of Gotham, really sketchy, but what choice do I have here right?"
"Do you know their names? Just curious what exactly we're heading into here," Ryan asked curiously.
"Okay, their leader's name is Safiyah Sohail and I haven't been told the name of their organization. So far I've only met with apparently the right hand who goes by Knife, which isn't a promising name. After you went missing a few days ago, I went to them and asked for assistance and it seemed to build more trust, which is why they've sped up this meeting," She explained.
Ryan was floored. Naturally, her girlfriend was working for the woman who seemed to get Kate Kane of all people on edge. She deprecatingly wanted to convince Whisper to back out of this, but it'd hurt their relationship. So would if she told Batwoman about this chance to catch Safiyah doing something more than likely illegal. This was a hard dilemma, one she'd have to sleep on.
The next day came, they went off to the meeting while Ryan made up her mind. It might not have been the best look, but they came in Ryan's van, which wasn't exactly professional compared to their black SUVs, as pretty much all badies have.
Since hearing about her, Ryan made sure she'd know when seeing Safiyah Sohail and now she was approaching herself and Whisper.
"Are you cool?" Her girlfriend asked.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. Just not used to meetings like this and with such uhh, intimating factors here, not exactly feeling safe," Ryan admitted pulling at her shirt.
"Stay cool. We look like we're in control, no problems. They'd be stupid be to kill us. We're needed here."
Safiyah Sohail stepped forward, with another woman with an intense look by her side. "Do you still have the resources to pull off what's required, Ms. Whisper?" Safiyah asked confidently.
Ryan couldn't help shiving a bit, seeing the woman in front of her feeling power oozing off her, giving a memorable feeling of fear.
"Yes, I'll be upfront. My resources have thinned a bit. However, I'm still the most trustworthy smuggler in Gotham who'll get the job done easy and fast."
"Good, I need my shipments taken out of Gotham under the radar. With not a peep heard, my people will accompany it. You screw this up, I'll have your head, understand clearly? I don't wanna repeat myself."
Whisper nodded.
"Let's speak details, what you might require to pull this off and of course, payment."
Before the conversation could further a guard in the area began shooting wildly. "It's The Batwoman!" She shouted, before promptly getting knocked out.
Safiyah watched Batwoman carefully while Knife ran towards her.
"Ryan! What the hell is she doing here!?" Whisper asked, trying to keep her voice down.
"I-I don't know. Maybe she was tracking Safiyah individually?"
"Screw it, we've gotta get out of here. Could've called the cops!" They both ran to the van.
Meanwhile, Kate eyed Safiyah going to approach her before Knife intervened.
"Not another step, your time of living has come to an end," She declared.
"Sorry, I've got a lot of life left in me," Kate remarked and blocked a large knife pulled towards her face. With her other arm she smacked the woman and from below tried tipping Knife over which would've allowed an easier takedown. This didn't work as she appeared to know how to counter that movement keeping each other on the same playing field.
It occurred to Kate that particular move was introduced to her via Safiyah and so was she, which did come with some advantages. Batwoman would know what Knife would be, it appeared her fighting had improved over the years, but not too advanced. They continued fighting, exchanging blows, it was clear Kate had the clear edge, which the woman knew finally backed off as more armed goons walked up, along with Safiyah Sohail.
"Impressive. Watching you fight, move, breathe and your eyes, it's clear to me your identity. I've always suspected as much, just finally 100% proof, staring at my face," She expressed quite pleased.
"Sorry, no idea what you're talking about," Kate replied, using her voice changer.
"Play dumb if you'd wish. I'm wondering how exactly you found us. Perhaps my new friends are rats?" She questioned aloud.
"I followed you, found a connection between you and those pirates attacks. Came to take you down, looks like this isn't exactly legal."
Safiyah shook her head. "Well, doesn't appear it would matter too much does it? Are you going to stop me? Arrest me for standing around here? Do you truly think that's going to blow over too well? And oh, how are you going to stop me?"
"With a little help," Batwoman and tossed down smoke as Police sirens came into earshot of everyone around. She then tried attacking Safiyah, but Knife got in the way protecting her starting another short fight as Kate wanted to go after the real threat. Wasn't hard getting past her and chasing after Safiyah.
From the corner of her eye, she noticed Montoya and the GCPD rushing in getting into a shootout with Safiyah's people, who were all now wearing masks, along with Knife. All the while, Safiyah was out of sight from them. Batwoman wasn't going to let her get away easy and hopped on the vehicle she got into managing to make it crash after it started going at top speed. Unfortunately, Kate was knocked off and got slightly injured.
"This is why I prefer boats!" She exclaimed, getting out with a couple large guards alongside her.
"It's over. You can't escape."
She laughed. "You underestimate me a great amount, don't you? Kate. I've changed a lot, so have you it would seem. Somethings stay the same as we grow into our truer, better selves. For one instance, always having an incense policy." She pulled out a detonator.
"What the hell is that for?" Batwoman asked.
"Example A." She pressed it and an explosion could be seen from blocks away.
Batwoman stepped closer enraged. However, Safiyah put her hand up, keeping it on the detonator. "Don't try anything, that was a minor explosion in a less populated area. How about my second, third and etc? I'm not screwing around. Or perhaps I'd even kill your dearest sister? Or both even?"
Kate was boiling with rage, but staying still.
"Let me walk, or more die. I've got a lot more plans left for Gotham and your family. Oh, don't say my name, or I'll have to do the same!" She said walking away confidently disappearing into the night.
Batwoman moved towards the GCPD.
"What just happened?" Montoya questioned, distributed by the explosion.
"A massive problem, one I've clearly underestimated," Kate replied feeling defeated.
Elsewhere, Ryan and Whisper had managed to escape in their van before GCPD captured them.
"How did Batwoman know?" She asked immediately as they stopped alongside a road.
"I-I don't know I swear."
"Did she follow us? Could she be tracking us?" She lowered her voice. "Bugged us?"
Ryan shook her head. "No, no it must be a crappy conscience. She'd never do that, must have been following a lead or something. She's a smart person."
"Well, it might have screwed us! What if that Safiyah lady blames me for Batwoman showing up, she doesn't seem like a forgiving type of gal!"
"Sh-She'd have to know you'd not rat her out. This deal meant everything."
Whisper sighed hitting the dashboard. "This was our chance to get out. Together, live a peaceful crime free life filled with happiness and boring normal crap. Now it might be over." She looked down.
Ryan hugged her tightly, but felt guilty having told lies to the person closest to her.
Batwoman started speeding down the streets of Gotham, getting into contact with the cave, which was Luke and Mary.
"What happened? We heard about an explosion and you helping the GCPD chase after some crocks?" Luke began asking, surprised to learn all this second hand.
"I needed to follow a personal lead, turns out, that's grown into a threat for all of Gotham now. A woman from my past did this. She's changed into something uglier than I could've imagined. How many dead?"
"11 so far, this was near my clinic!" Mary joined in.
"Great, she threatened you. Now I believe it completely. She's got my identity too. I've got no idea what to do, not even an idea of what the hell she wants!"
"Revenge?" Luke suggested.
"No, we ended on medicare terms, not even for wanting to kill me! With all these resources, she's clearly after something, and I'm just a bonus. Need to figure what and how to stop her. Look into The Kali Corporation. I've got myself a hunch they are a front for something far worse."
"Aright, I'll look into it. How did things pan out with Ryan Wilder? Doesn't seem like it'd be good if her girlfriend learned she told you about this meeting."
"Not sure, heading to her now. Need to make sure she's not in danger," She hung up and continued speeding along.
Meanwhile, at the Crows HQ.
"Sir?" Sophie asked entering Jacob Kane's office.
"Come in, what ya bring me?"
"Intelligence on The Kali Corporation and their CEO Safiyah Sohail as asked. Didn't find anything explicitly incriminating, but did discover the island they come from has massive pirating trade. Something tells me there's a connection, but can't find anything linking it together." She said.
He nodded. "The mayor is likely going to write it off as those pirates following them back here, I've got a feeling you're right about something fishy. Regardless, without evidence we can't turn down working for them. You should keep investigating, find something useful. I know you're good at that." Jacob said, which made Sophie a little suspicious, but couldn't really say anything about it and left.
As she left to continue her work, agent Proctor stepped in passing her closing the door. Which only added to Sophie's skepticism.
"What's up commander?" He asked.
"Wanted to speak with you for a moment, agent, I've got a new top secret operation in the works. I need the best of the best for it. You're my first official recruit, I'm pulling no punches with this, getting some people even outside of The Crows."
The agent looked surprised and flattered. "What's the adjective?"
"Bringing order to Gotham, that starts by bringing down Batwoman. As of right now, operation Knightfall is getting put together officially, in other words, the bat's going to fall," Jacob Kane said determined and with a smug coincidence coming across his face.
Batwoman reached Ryan's Orphanage, staying to the rooftops, seeing both women return safe and sound from the looks of it.
"Good," She muttered to herself relieved and could still see the smoke from the explosion going into the atmosphere making her frown.
Then surprisingly, her phone rang with an unknown number. She reluctantly picked up, Luke modified it to make sure tracking would be impossible, just in case.
"Hello?" She asked.
"Kate, dearest sister. I believe we have ourselves a common enemy," Alice said, sounding a bit worse for wear.
"What are you talking about?"
Alice scoffed. "Safiyah Sohail, The Many Arms of Death! Scarecrow!"
"I'll admit to knowing Safiyah, but what the hell is The Many Arms of Death?"
"Oh dear, oh dear, it appears you know less than I'd expect. We should meet, discuss our new problem. Believe me sis, you're going to want to hear what I've got to say!"
Kate wasn't sure how to respond. She paused, thinking hard about how to respond.
Batwoman
General apologies, this one was a little late sadly, which I'm sorry about. Next week might be 3 weeks to avoid rushing and I've been in a "mood" (Or borderline depression, or just my hormone changes or-) so might take an extra week to try my best making sure my feelings don't affect the writing. Sorry if it did in any form. Should be calmed down sooner then later and with how life is going, might have a lot more time to write. Or not, idk. Life is great. Anyways.
In Response To CG
Thank you, I try to keep it bi-weekly, I wasn't sure if I was going to get it done in time. Happy I did and it was great (: Hope to keep it that way,
I apologize for messing up with that. I'll remember in the future.
In regards to Scarecrow's plan – Okay, I wasn't sure which one. I'll keep that in mind.
Another Actress Suggestion for Bat-Solider –Thank you for another suggestion, I'll be sure to keep it in mind and interesting info about her.
In regards to Harper finding Batwoman in Season 3 – Okay, that makes sense, I'll have to think of what job and how she'd do it all. Was wondering if she was in a coma in your mind, I figured that would make the most amount of sense and I agree with your thinking the head would be a better option, along with how to describe that horrible feeling. I think that idea works out perfectly fine, it was my general thinking so I'll keep it the same. Just wasn't sure how long Kate would be out of commission for and how she'd be when waking up. Oh well, that'll be a later thing to think about I guess once season 3 becomes clearer. I appreciate all this info, it helps a lot.
In regards to the Season 2 Finale extension – Okay, I guess as an early heads up, I might have to put the "response section" as a separate chapter as the scrolling down would be difficult with likely 20k+ words if I left it in there.
Semi related - I'm possibly thinking of occasional posting extra non-story related chapters, like just general important notes. I'll keep the response section the same. My thought for one thing at least was informing possible new readers of how the series has changed from its inspection and things that should be known to them. Wasn't sure if it's a good idea, not sure how you'd feel about that happening or if it really matters. Just figured I'd express that desire, hope that makes sense. My wording can be odd.
About the main villain of Season 3 – Okay, that is fair. Hopefully, my season 3 pick (when I share) is a good idea, I've got at least one-second choice as of right now.
In regards to response about what Alice's long-term storyline should be about – Okay, I think that all makes sense. I'm not positive how mental/physical illnesses work, so I'll just assume that it's correct. I can do all that you say there and thank you for the clarification. I'll cut the whole third personality thing, likely for the best. I've started thinking of different directions for season 5 and I think it'll be a much better one as of result, also bringing in suggestions you gave earlier than I thought which is good too! I like how you want her future to be, just not sure if she'd be a main character anymore during that point. Which idk if that's a positive or not.
In regards to Kate's past with Safiyah – I figured as much and your right, that was your suggestion from a few chapters ago. I'll for sure be doing that with Flashbacks. Okay, that sounds good, I'll for sure do that! Fair enough it was just poor timing with Kate and Alice missing each other. It makes perfect sense Safiyah would connect the dots.
PS. Okay, I hope very much so that it shall go well for you all!
The midseason finale - Thank you for all the suggestions, I kinda didn't use everything listed here. I used some from this posting and the #4th one, like making Safiyah head of the company and no alas. I'm sorry if it wasn't like you imagined, hope it was overall good!
The second third of Season Two and last third - I don't really have much to say other than I love all this and it helps the discretion of the series even further. I'm excited to get into the back half of the season and bring all this into fruition!
PS I. I thought so, it's a great revision and I can very much tell you to put a ton of work into these suggestions which I'm greatly thankful for the support. Completely agree all your ideas are far superior to my poor ideas which were like Arrow season 3, which wasn't a good idea at all. I thought as well and looked back at that fight with Ra's Al Ghul and remembered the surprise from it. That type of scenario works a million during that season finale and once Bat-Beast fights Kate, if it happened during this episode it would've surely ruined both moments. This is far better and thank you again. Agree as well with how it would've been redundant, I want to avoid repeating myself, especially during the same season would be quite a screw up. You're correct about them breaking up, I'm unsure if it'll be like that, but good enough comparison.
PS II. That's a pretty great idea and interesting choice for that character to be betrayed by. I liked him enough in those movies and really only know him from those so it's a good fit, even if he'd never be on tv, whatever. I also liked him in the film Law Abiding Citizen, was pretty good there. It's a good idea and I didn't actually know who replaced him in the ultimate universe. Excited to use this idea. I'm not actually sure if Proctor will be the guy, but definitely will have some part in all this. I will definitely give motivation to the eventual person and stuff to their character besides their name, I've actually got a rough idea forming while typing this lol.
PS III. Good thinking for a joke! I liked that game a lot and for sure will put that in.
Posting #3:
#1. Okay, I think I'll start doing that for season openings, midseason returns and season finales. Would that be a good choice?
#2. Oh yes, I remember hearing about some of the Sonic comics and do sadly know about that whole lawsuit mess. It does sound better. Also, I can agree with all that, it wasn't a good choice on my part.
#3. That's a pretty good choice, I didn't know him until you mentioned he's the modern era of Q. I can see that he'd be a good choice so from now on I'll have him listed as Scarecrow once he returns.
#4 That's a pretty great idea and seems in line with what the comics are doing. I'm sure as the Punchline series continues (and apparently a secret project involving Harper) I'm positive you will have more ideas. I love your thinking of what to do with them!
#5 Okay, I figured as much for all three fathers. Makes sense why Kate will remark about that, wonder if one day they'll all work past all those troubles and face off against their fathers. Idk, either way works.
#6 I've never thought of that, but would like to bring her in. I'm happier being her into the series at some point after hearing all your suggestions for her. Would be nice to have a different type of character around even just for an episode or 2.
Posting #4
About the Vesper Fairchild segment – Oh whoops, I completely forgot I did. Happy I didn't forget (:
About the Chapter 8 title – Yes I do, that's a great story with a great mystery. Looking forward to the animated version, if it really is two parts.
Your personal suspicions about Scarecrow for the rest of Season 2 – Those are great guesses and more than likely what will happen.
The Kali Corporation – That was my thinking going into this, so yes (:
Sophie & Julia Temporary Break-Up Prediction – That is a good prediction, won't say if it'll happen exactly like that.
Season 2 Crossover Thoughts – That is quite interesting part to add in, I like it a lot. Helps add more to the crossover being a part of the overall story and reach of The Many Arms of Death
Important!
I just wanted to say, I was thinking of now possibly doing that Crossover between episodes 9-10. (So, those two parts would be next, or that note I mentioned elsewhere) In part due to your added thoughts of the Demon's Fist having ties to The Many Arms of Death and other hinting towards the later points in the season. Along with likely having a time jump of at least a month or two from episode 9-10 having Kate and the team still trying to figure out what their new theat's next move shall be.
In regards to my tentative Season 3 overview suggestion – Okay, I thought so, likely I'll go with 4-5 months of Kate being missing and can 100% agree with season 2 ending in May.
Julia going with Kate to Coryana – That does make a lot of sense.
Julia's cover name – I'm assuming she'd know her real name, could make a reference to the alias.
Gabi Kane as a ghost or a hallucination – That would be pretty great, I believe that type of thing does happen a bit in shows. I remember it happened with Oliver during the season 2 midseason with Tommy. I will say too, my potential season 3 might bring her back up in an unexpected way…
About Harper Row's recurring status in Season 3 - That would make sense, perhaps I was overthinking. I'm positive that will happen with those two meeting at least once.
Posting #5: Season 2 Future Chapter Title Suggestions
I love all those titles and quite sure I caught them all. The Bond films and Pirates of the Caribbean nods/parodies at least. I'll try my best to include them all!
Posting #6: Personal Assumptions About Ryan Wilder's Past In Story
#1 I believe Ryan expressed it going differently, but I do think it was left vague enough or I could just say Ryan lied about whatever she said out of guilt perhaps? I love this version (and everything shared here, including how compassionate Batman is) so I will 100% get all this in.
#2 Sounds fantastic, don't really have more to say for most of these. It's just as perfect as can be I feel.
#3-7 I'm sorry if bunching these all together is a copout, I've just really got nothing to say overall. It's perfect. I guess my only question would be if this would be represented in the flashback episode? Like would Ryan be hurt then remembering her past or the "framing device" be her telling Kate in great detail about her history now fully trusting her? I feel like it would make sense having this potential episode this season. Unless you'd think it'd be better having these details sprinkled throughout the season or a bunch of them.
PS I. Oh yes I heard about that, don't know any details of what she did during the story. Curious to know what happens now with her.
PS II. That is pretty silly of them, seems like they're making a lot of bad choices this year. (I didn't know they planned on making a show called "Amazon" in the past, I guess it makes sense. They had Themascrea appear in a cameo in Legends) It's possible, I feel like they'd do the same with her that Batman got, sending her off into the unknown...aka the we've got no idea what to do void. I have, doesn't look so great and I kinda laughed. Oh well, shall wait for more to be seen before final judgement I guess.
Posting #7:
I like your thoughts about their past, I shared some of them, but I feel like yours is better formed then my own. I'll 100% use this.
Regarding Safiyah, I do have a thought of her seeming "pure" (Which I discovered is what her name means in Arabic faiwhich it comes from, I'm fairly sure) but have a darkness below the surface she desperately tries to hide giving her perfect vibes mainly. Perhaps could be part of Kate leaving, sensing that part of her?
Regarding the Desert Rose, I do think it would be a huge violation and perhaps might have cost a plan of trying to exploit the Rose trying to make multiple universal cures, but taking quite some time to figure it out and Alice stealing the only one adds to all that resentment for such a petty revenge plot.
That's basically all the alternative thoughts I have as of now with all shared, it's fantastic!
PS I. Okay, I've got a decent idea of the time frame and I'll try my best using those as inspirations, I've played both so shouldn't be too hard.
PS II. Okay, I'll remember that.
PS III. I was thinking about that. I'm thinking they would want her to test her blood for the cure. I do remember in the show they said it was out of her system or something. My thought would be one goal of theirs would be capturing Mary and trying to figure out if the cure could be used from her. Maybe it could be the only real way to know would result in her death which Kate and friends wouldn't be pleased about.
I'm happy the alarm is working out fine. Okay, I think/hope it's clear here I'm going with her being the leader and not being in the past. I will for sure give insight how she changed and grew into the leader.
Miscellaneous Stuff:
#1 Thank you for sharing, I checked it out and it was interesting to read about. I'm not really sure if much, or any, from there should be included.
#2 They are all fantastic and I'm always surprised/impressed how fast you come up with ideas. I'm not sure if I'll come up with any, perhaps a couple. Having it be infinite possibilities does help if I create a stinker when eventually getting to it.
Batwoman: The Red Death – That's pretty good, I remember the Red Death story and how much people are eager to see them on Flash. I think even if the one referenced does show up, another one could exist which would be Kate as suggested.
Batwoman: The Worldkiller – Very well done Batwoman CW version of "The Devastator" it's great use of continuity from Supergirl! I love it a lot.
Batwoman: The Living Lightning – Cool idea! Good use of the universe once again. The name is cool too.
Batwoman: The Dark Arrow – Another interesting idea, I like how it's just not Batwoman as Green Arrow. I'll for sure figure out why she'd end up using Mirakuru and other details. I'll enjoy it!
The Batwoman of Wonderland – That is a super interesting idea, makes sense she'd likely be one of if not the most deadly evil Batwoman.
Batwoman: The Garnet – I like the idea of having Kate (and I guess Beth and Jacob) having to see a damaged version of Gabi who's Batwoman. I'll for sure think about it quite a bit trying to figure everything out. (Might use that kinda idea before then)
Batwoman: Fortress Bat – Oh wow, that is an insane concept, the good kind of insane lol. Really interesting.
Batwoman: K.A.T.E. – Another kinda wild idea, I like it. I'll try my best to figure out what K.A.T.E stands for, shouldn't be too hard.
PS. Oh okay, that would be pretty interesting to do. It'll likely be quite some time until then so I'm sure it'll be nice to write about something pretty drastically different alongside the series. I love all your ideas and the things to keep in mind. I'm excited to reach that point! Thank you as always for the suggestions/wonderful input.
Regarding Black lightning - That's quite surprising to hear it's ending. I'm still bewildered on why that's happening, I haven't watched season 3 as of yet, but *spoilers* during season two "Painkiller" dying was a big deal, which I guess he feels better during season 3. Hate when shows do that. Oh well, still idk how he'll even hold a show. I can completely agree with the whole Justice League thing being pointless, Arrow, Supergirl, Batwoman and now Blacklightning. Feels pointless ): I wonder that too.
*Edit* I'm very sorry about that, I must have put in "her" by mistake. I wasn't 100% of your gender, I went back and forth on it, didn't matter too much. Wasn't intending on using pronouns, but I was bound to slip up eventually and I must confess my editing of this chapter was likely my weakest so far too. Ultimately, nothing has changed about our friendship here (: I was wondering a bit about the LGBTQ community status, but again doesn't matter, I'm sure most of the writers and actors in involved in LGBTQ stories and such are straight, so perfectly fine. I'm beyond glad to hear all of your positive thoughts towards how my little story helped you, it's gratifying to know my work here has at least made one person's life better. I'm excited to continue to keep working away and getting help from you of course, this helps my motivation to keep pushing forward. I don't want you to feel bad about the misunderstanding, it's perfectly fine. Nothing has changed, I'm glad that you will continue to read and post, thank you (:
Ps. I saw your asking to give a response, so I rushed this together so you wouldn't be worried anymore.
In response to Silver-Infinite
I'm sorry you had to use a guest account or whatever just to review, never knew that about the limit. Anyways, your idea is fantastic and I love it quite a lot! It's such a great idea and I'll for sure add it in somehow. I'm just not sure if it'd fit the whole Dark Multiverse , the theme there seems to be how everything just sucks. It sounds like Beth as Batwoman wouldn't be insane and give hope to Gotham. It could just be another earth, as I do think and will have the normal Multiverse come back into play first. I'm not sure when I'd do this scenario, but I think it'd be before the Dark Multiverse happens. Hopefully sooner than later. Thank you for the suggestion!
In response to Riya Dewan
Thank you so much, I'm so glad you enjoyed it so much (: Hope you continue to enjoy it, I'm in for the long run lol. My chapters are usually 2 weeks at best, writing around 10k words can be a bit of a struggle sometimes, sorry if any delays happen and the wait for the next. Hope the wait shall be worth it, thank you again.
