Chapter 55 : Emergency Situation
The next two days were very calm with a peaceful air about them. With Joseph gone, Angela had calmed down enough herself, but still wasn't sure about the legendary pokemon, still concerned for the safety of her daughter. Still, she allowed Sarah to make her own choices as the others went about their day. Dahlia was now in the control seat of the D.M.A., teaching Verna how to operate the device in the early afternoon of the day. As Dahlia brought the control seat all the way up, she wanted to show off a little and show the extent of what the holograms could do. As she started to prepare a show though, things came to an abrupt stop with everything closing down, only for the entire room to go a very aggressive pulsing green.
The control seat was quickly flooded with alerts and Dahlia quickly shot the seat back down to the ground. "We have a problem!" Dahlia screamed out, diving out of the seat and grabbing Verna, teleporting out of the chamber back into the gardens. Even before she had landed, Dahlia was rushing the chambers underneath the garden.
"What's going on?" Xent yelled out as most of the garden was in the same fuss as the D.M.A. chamber. All around him, the legendary pokemon present were in a rush, everyone rushing for the chambers underneath the garden. Following along to find out what was going on, Xent, Sarah, Andrew, and Mewtwo all followed everyone else in the main chamber underneath the gardens and everyone was in a fit.
"Its not breached yet, but something is causing a massive disturbance." Thomas yelled out, images of some kind of landscape appearing in the middle of the room, and then something was being shown slowly under the land, some kind of massive chamber.
"There's an impact site here." Dahlia stated looking over the map with Latios, Palkia, and Rayquaza, only for the hologram to go static and then show another small dent in the land, this time smoke rising up. A massive red ring appeared over the landscape and the land went dark, nothing there at first.
"Don't tell me that's what I think it is..." Xent stated, worry building in his voice as Rayquaza pointed something out.
"Movement! But why isn't it showing up?" Rayquaza stated, flying down and grabbing a part of the map, pulling it up and pulling it apart to zoom into the section. Sure enough there was something there, what appeared to be a large box truck.
"That's a truck, but where's the driver?" Thomas demanded, looking over a few other screens and the image of a truck slowly getting larger.
As it zoomed in even more though, there wasn't a driver, just something attached to the wheel. "That's either a distraction or it's carrying a package, if it is my bet its loaded wit-" Xent started before the screen when static again, taking a few seconds to show up again, this time just another hole in the ground. "Explosives... got it. So more important question, how do we stop the remote control bomb trucks?"
A pulse over the image quickly showed a few other things now, several bright glowing dots on the map. 'There are no organics over the prison, but there are nearly a dozen other trucks!' Latias yelled out, Thomas rushing out of the room, Dahlia and Radara rushing with him.
"Its going to take far more then a few minor holes to break into the prison. They've got to be testing the area. Mother awaking completes in three day, we must buy time. Latias, see what you can do about enchancing the map, and see if you get get the entire region highlighted instead of just the prison. Palkia!" Ho-oh yelled out as she landed behind them, giving Thomas, Dahlia and Radara room to rush past her already knowing that they were going for their weapons and gear.
Palkia wasted no time, a large tear in space opening up in the room and Ho-oh, Rayquaza, Darkrai, and Latios all rushed through the portal, Palkia turning to follow Thomas, Dahlia, and Radara now to give them a portal as well. Xent didn't waste any time, rushing to keep up himself. "Zai! Verna! Akra! End of the World Scenario!"
Sarah just barely caught it though as she rushed up trying to figure out what was going on, only to hear Xent. "What do you mean End of the World scenario!" She demanded, running with him back to the Lunar Blessing where Thomas and Dahlia were pulling out every weapon they could.
"Bomb trucks over the prison! Trucks, multiple!" Xent stated as Thomas rushed off the boat, the loaned crystal sword that Latias and Latios had loaned him, as well as three other blades, Radara carrying a number of small bags with her mind, and even Thomas's main packpack in her mouth as Dahlia came rushing out with Gali's halberd and even the Guardian Aegis.
"Thomas, now or never. Someone has to wield this! I'm sorry we don't have more time, but we need a symbol to stand behind right now! If nothing else, we need someone to keep our minds our own." Dahlia snapped as she rushed out of the Lunar Blessing as Xent rushed in.
Thomas, Radara, Dahlia, and Verna all gathered around Paklia and Latias as she pulled up the map of the region again in front of them. Already there were a few more holes as Palkia opened up a pair of other portals. Articuno, Zapdos, Entei, Raikou, and Cresselia all come rushing through from the two portals, before Palkia turned towards the group around them.
'While there are no living bodies on top of the prison directly, there's plenty of minds in the region. I've tried to isolate the human minds first, but aside from few small groups the humans are mostly either gathered at settlements on the very edge of the region, or on aircraft flying over the region.' Latias explained quickly, a few yellow dots appearing on the map. A small group was far to the north of the prison in a vehicle of some kind, but not the same truck that they had identified while in the under chamber, while a few other glowing dots seemed to be running away from the prison.
'And these dots show the pokemon in the region above the prison.' Latias added, several more dots showed up on the map, all singular dots just scattered over the map, most moving away from the prison or explosions in general.
'These glowing spaces are all the locations with gatherings of people or pokemon. We need to evacuate them quickly.' Latias stated, a dozen large glowing spaces appearing around the outer edges of the map as well as two clusters of people far above the ground, before a circle closed in slowly, high lighting six of the fourteen spaces. 'Start with these, they are in the most danger.' Latias stated, Palkia looking for places to put portals there, four portals opening quickly and Articuno, Entei, and Cresselia rushed through.
As those four portals closed up, another three opened, Palkia clearly starting to strain themselves as they almost fell over, Zapdos holding him up, only to now be held up by a pair of registeel and a regirock, a number of the regi-golem pokemon starting to come through portal. Even Raikou ahd come but he was still limping as he looked over the group.
"I'm no use in combat, but where I can help? I'll spread the word as best I can." Raikou quickly stated, Suicune helping to walk him down the underchamber since she wasn't able to go help either.
"What about this dot on the very edge of the map?" Sarah quickly asked, barely noticing a dot just on the edge of the map that Latias had pulled up.
'What... oh the science reserve! No no, that place last, its outside of the prison's field. Its now just pokemon reserve station.' Latias stated, glancing up and barely noticing the dot at first, before remembering what it was. 'Everywhere is in more danger, if the prison is breached, the land will collapse in on it first, one last measure to try and buy us time to get ready before it can get out. These ones highlighted here are in the most danger if it breaks out being the closest.'
"Palkia, don't strain yourself. Get us … here, put us here first. Get ready for a quick portal and let us get ready. Then get ready to help the others, but take breaks! We all know that pushing through that field without opening a fissure is a taxing." Dahlia stated, pointing to small open space on a plateau overlooking the prison.
"I will send as much help as fast as I can. Fifteen seconds is all I can spare." Palkia stated, getting up fully and letting Thomas, Radara, Dahlia, and Verna get ready, each ready to dash through the portal. As soon as it opened, the four of them jumped through, Xent even tossing the bag he had grabbed through as they did.
Waiting until there was only a few seconds left though, Xent charged through himself as the portal was failing. Just as he got through, the portal closed, only to get caught by a psychic grip. "Too late, already through!" Xent snapped, feeling himself getting jolted back, but now through empty space, the portal gone and unable to take him back to Alto Mare.
The echo of a loud explosion in the distance dropped Xent to the ground, everyone looking around over the columns of rising spoke over the landscape. 'Xent... what the hell is wrong with you!' Verna screamed at him, only for Thomas to speak up.
"He's here now like the idiot he, its too late. Focus on the task at hand." Thomas stated, Radara jumping up a large tree to get a slightly better look as Xent called out Zai and Akra.
"You do... exactly what I say in this situtation. Any argument and I dominate your mind and puppeteer you around as I need it." Dahlia snapped at him, Verna pulling Dahlia down some.
'I'll keep an eye on him.' Verna stated, as Dahlia looked up seeing Ho-oh flying high above the region. Even worse though, Thomas, Radara, and Dahlia quickly noticed something else weird, all turning with weapons drawn.
Xent quickly drew his crowbar, there was a yell and someone was thrown up and over a large set of rocks a rather large distance from where the group of them had teleported in. The man in question was wearing some kind of body armor, under a large torn white and golden tabard, and a silver tiara had flown up with him as he was tossed over the rock.
Before the tiara even hit the ground, a shiny lopunny had jumped up over the rocks and grabbed the tiara, landing on the knight as they hit the ground. The shiny lopunny looked very pleased with itself though, quickly taking one of their ears and slipping it through the tiara to wear it loosely on its head, along with two other similar tiaras. One was slipped over both of its ears, and sat properly on its head, while the other was just looped through one ear like some kind of imitation earring hanging on a single ear.
It tilted its head as it looked at them, only for all of them to turn when the lopunny twisted around and jumped back up over the rocks, hearing another yell as it landed on someone out of view. Then just like the first guy that they had seen, someone was tossed up and into the rocks, their head and upper chest just barely seen before it it was dragged back down out of view. There was the sound of a pokeball opening up before a nidoking was just thrown off the cliffside and onto the rocks before, before the lopunny jumped onto the top of the rocks again, holding a forth silver and gold tiara in its hands.
"Why are there are knig-" Thomas started to extremely concerned before another blast sounded, this one close, the group stumbling even as a large plume of dark smelly smoke spilled up from the side of the plateau, another bomb truck having gone off. The most recent blast had easily been just below them and rattled all of their ears, a harsh ringing in all of their ears as they slowly tried to pick themselves up, Ho-oh's cry sounding above them just barely heard.
A quick glance to figure out what Ho-oh was after revealed her diving hard in the distance, before spreading her wings to slow herself as her body began to glow brightly and bathe a large area in a golden blast of fire. A few seconds later, she quickly flew back up into the air and then there was another blast echoing in the distance, smoke rising from that spot.
Thomas tried to call out, but all of their ears were ringing badly, his words drowned out. 'Speak up...' Verna's voice whined loudly in their heard, not as clear thanks to all the ringing, but heard at least. Xent finally let Zai and Akra out in something of rush now as he struggled to get up, Zai looking around confused wondering what was going on and where they were.
'That had to be right below us...' Radara's voice sounded clearly in their heads, even through the ringing in their ears.
As Zai tried to help Xent up, she set Xent's bag down to get pull him up into a sitting position, doing her best not to hold her nose closed. "Akra!" Xent half yelled out, just trying to hear himself. "Get into the sky, I want to know where any vehicle near us is..." Xent grumbled as Akra took off.
As Dahlia picked herself up, she quickly turned when something else grabbed their attention, another knight rushing towards them in the opposite direction, not as disoriented as the group was. Armed with a spear and joined by a sandslash, it tried to rush them, only to be easily disarmed by Dahlia as Thomas used his mind to pin the sandslash. Neither one had attempted to kill the pair, but the lopunny appeared to have other ideas and in their disorientation, easily threw their mace into the head of knight.
With its trainer dead, the sandslash tried to lash out even more. Thomas rushed up to try and find any pokeballs on the knight, but once more the lopunny caused issues as it jumped over them as Dahlia and Radara both had to focus on the sandslash since they were still recovering from the blast. The lopunny didn't seem to care though as it grabbed another tiara and grabbed the mace back out of the knight's head to throw it at Thomas who easily parried it.
In that second though, the lopunny had thrown the dead knight's sword into the sandslash, before jumping back around and into some bushes this time. "That damned rabbit's going to be a bitch." Xent tried to stated as he was witnessing the whole thing, only to notice Ho-oh making dive.
"Think she found another one. We should probably move, I'm having issues standing up and it might be this sme-" Xent called out as Ho-oh dived again, but this time he was tossed to ground along with Zai was still trying to help him up. Before Xent could finish however, something tackled him from behind as he adjusted his crowbar. Zai was forced to roll back and let go of Xent as a sword swung for her, the lopunny tackling Xent in the back.
Xent snarled as he was tossed to the ground again, his crow bar tossed from his hand in the attack, forced face first into the dirt. The lopunny had jerked his backpack from his shoulder, even ripping one strap as Xent tried and failed to get up before the biting hard into the fluffy on the lopunny's ear.
It struggled a bit, stomping on the stump of an arm, before there was another loud bang and flash, the lopunny crying out loudly, but still giving a glowing kick to the space around her, Zai having tried to use her illusions to hide. The flashbang that Xent had forced into the lopunny's ear while biting it trying to make her get off.
Zai avoided the kick, but snarled in annoyance at being found again before dropping the illusions all together for the moment. Her claws grew dark as she rushed forward with a shadow claw that the lopunny avoided, but much like she had done to Dahlia, Zai was hiding a shadow ball behind it, the lopunny still screaming out and kicking the shadowball away. It still hurt to do it if the lopunny's second cry was anything to go by.
Dahlia went to try and finish it seeing how much of a problem it was going to cause, the lopunny forced to jump into the bushes to run off, dragging Xent's bag behind it as Verna helped him up, only to see it had somehow grabbed his belt in the confusion as well.
A second blast right below them threw them all to the ground again though as more smoke started to rise along with another wave of the horrid smell. It took even longer for them all pick themselves up this time, Akra rushing back to help Xent back up. "No no... cover us, find the damn lopunny!" Xent yelled out, still not even able to ear himself for the moment, Verna the first to get up and picking up Dahlia.
'How did they know where we would teleport in!' Verna's voice shakily sounded in their hears.
'They can't... I think they're just trying to bring down the whole plateau if they can, we need to move.' Radara replied, helping to slowly pick them all up now with Thomas's assistance. Thomas was carefully holding the sheath for the Guardian Aegis and then gave off a bright glow for a few, using the blade to increase the effect of recovery, before moving to Radara to let her do the same.
"Then we should teleport away from here quickly. And bring that damned thieving lopunny with us if you can!" Xent shouted again.
'We can't. We're in the inner field of influence of the prison, it denies the move teleport. Only Palkia has the power to move things to and from the area until we reach the outer edges. Otherwise we have to move on our own.' Dahlia explained, knowing that non-vocal communication was better for a moment as Thomas approached her slowly, trying to keep an eye out for the lopunny.
Rushing to leave the section of the plateau that seemed to be specifically targeted by explosives, they all moved quickly as they could to hopefully figure out what was going on. Latios had even caught up to them for a moment, barely speaking as he handed a crystal plate. As he explained it, it would give them a limited means to pass messages to each other while they focus on trying to figure out what was going on as the legendary pokemon divided up between trying evacuate the region and taking out any more of the bomb trucks.
As Latios tried to fly away, he just barely avoided something thrown at him, but couldn't stick around to find out who had tried to attack him. Xent just barely caught sight of the shiny lopunny again, but the group was in a rush themselves trying to get away from the cliffside.
Jumping down into the valley to find a better vantage sight to look around quickly proved to be a problem though. The few knights up on the weren't the only ones in the region, and as the group were running around, Thomas practically slammed them all against the wall of the cliff that they were running against to stop them.
"What's going on?" Dahlia quickly asked.
"A truck full of Knights... These are not stray incidents, what's going on here?" Thomas asked.
"Someone had to tip off to something here in the region. During my time, we kept track of all wild regions. Didn't want a single air shipment going down by mistake near them. I made sure that they respected nature, and even tried to keep them away from some places. To my knowledge they don't know anything about this region aside from it just being a larger the usual wild region. The magnetic anomalies that were caused by the prison made the place unwelcoming in the modern age, with no real way to handle communications or call for help from the large amounts of strong wild pokemon to say nothing of the disruption to equipment that it caused. They don't even come here looking for pokemon, too wild, unable to be tamed, its too much hassle for them." Dahlia stated.
"Well, something has them riled up... That looks like a truck full of heavily armed knights actively looking for something... in a camouflaged wanna-be tank." Xent stated, barely peaking around the edge with the Zai hiding him just in case. "Five knights outside the truck, under that large tree. No wonder the the others haven't seen them yet, they are intent on hiding well... how'd you even see them Thomas, I barely noticed em at first." Xent asked.
"The Guardian Aegis... just holding it is boosting my psychic abilities and I felt clouded minds now that I'm looking for anything. I just barely felt them and then saw one of them walking around the truck in their tabard." Thomas stated.
"Say, here's a scary thought. The knights aren't the one blowing up the region trying to blast mine into something they think is there, but don't know what it is. I mean, they are clearly on edge enough to do some real stupid stuff right now." Xent asked.
"Very unlikely. Any place with ties to Arceus or even religious significance is treated very carefully. They want to know exactly what they are dealing with, and keep any texts or artifacts in tact. Its very important for them to preserve any form of documentation in the modern times." Dahlia explained.
'You don't suppose that Hurk made arrangements for the knights to show up here do you? Just to interfere with us?' Radara asked as she tried to focus in on that area where the knights were, only for a lot of commotion to take place. Above them Ho-oh had come swooping down targeting another bomb truck a few hundred meters away, but more then close enough to cause a scene around them.
Once more a golden rose flame erupted from her body, before focused into her beak and blasted forward, followed by another loud blast. The knights all took some cover, but were clearly trying to figure out what was going on, a lot of yelling going on, but nothing that the group could make out.
As the group was waiting to see what was going on, mostly wanting to hide from the knights right now with bigger concerns, the lopunny revealed itself. It charged right through them, throwing Xent to the ground, even slugging Thomas while he was too focused on the knights, trying to focus on getting into their heads with the Guardian Aegis. The lopunny dashed into the open, and then right at the knights, jumping one of them and stealing their sword.
With the new fight unfolding, things quickly got even worse as the knights tried to charge Xent and Thomas. Seeing the added commotion, Ho-oh had noticed them now and soared over instantly recognizing the knights by their tabards now, and she was furious. An echoing cry and Ho-oh came flying over, a massive stream of flames pouring from her beak and making a leaving a large wall between the group and the knights.
One knight was caught in the flames, but their screams were drowned out by everything going on as Ho-oh made a second pass, this time having seen the heavily armored truck that the knights had and she wasn't going to take any chances. "Go Brother! Do your task, I shall deal with these insolent fools who dare to call themselves knights, taking our mother's name in vain!" Ho-oh yelled out, forcing her words into a tongue that even the knights could hear.
Quickly flying back to the tree that they had hidden their truck under, a golden rose energy gathered over her form and she let loose another sacred flame attack. Using the chance to get away, Verna helped Xent up, and Xent in turn grabbed and yanked Zai back towards the group who took off in the opposite direction. This left Dahlia, Thomas, and Radara to help them get away.
"Sisters, do not let him fail!" Ho-oh yelled out as she came down for a second strike, enveloping a large chunk of the space around the knights in flames. It was clear that she wasn't playing games right now nor was she taking chances as the group of them moved away from the now burning truck and knights.
Seeing how quickly Ho-oh had dealt with the knight though did leave Xent a little worried, hoping that Coria wasn't there, but he knew that it was a later problem. As he half dragged Zai behind him following the others, he just looked on following their cues.
"So, what's the plan aside from taking out the bomb trucks before they risk actually damaging the prison?" Xent yelled out trying to follow along.
"Figure out what the real plan to break out the prison is and stop it. These bombs have to just be distractions." Dahlia yelled out, rushing back they way the came a bit to try another route towards the space above the prison since the knights had occupied the easiest route there, and Ho-oh's flames would take too long to die down.
As they ran back though, there was another bomb truck slowly traveling along. The side view gave them a detailed view of the truck, of the large camera set up in the cabin of the truck, and how the back was opened up, a large coil of wire slowly unrolling behind it.
"That's how they're doing it!" Xent yelled out. "Cut the wire, it has be controlling the truck!" Xent screamed out, and Dahlia dashed forward. A powerful jump up and vicious downward slash and the halberd severed the cable from the back of the truck. Thomas and Radara put up a large barrier over the truck just in case, but the truck just continued along unshifting from the turn it had been taking.
It did slow down but quickly hit a tree when it didn't stop its turn and gave them all a great view of the opened back of the truck. A large collection of crates, electronic devices, and a massive roll of thick cable showed just how detailed and expensive of a device the truck had been turned into. Thomas rushed over to the cliff side beside them and when looking for some crystals, pressing the crystalline plate that Latios had given into it.
"This is Thomas, I've got a disarmed bomb truck! There are cables in the back, someone is piloting them in real time remotely by extension cable. That's how they're remote controlling them even with the interference of the protection zone." Thomas quickly stated, the message linking to other crystals and even back to Latias.
Aside from his own message however, there were no other messages to be retrieved though and Thomas moved back to the others. Xent was carefully looking over the truck with Verna and Zai. "Talk about a detailed remote explosive... someone has cash to burn, no way any of this was cheap." Xent stated as Dahlia made sure to hold up a barrier just in case that devices were still live.
"I'm... not feeling anything electronic from the truck... I think it was all powered by the wire you cut. I mean the engine's running, but I don't feel any electrical fields like I might feel from more advanced technologies." Thomas stated.
"That makes little sense... Why go through all the effort to make this, without adding some kind of contingency in case someone cut a single wire, or it snagged on something, or any number of other technical problems." Xent replied.
'Because they had to simplify as much as they could. Dahlia was explaining some of the protections of the temples and other places of significance to me. Once the D.M.A. was turned on, even our gaming consoles started to glitch a little back in Alto Mare when were in the D.M.A. chambers. I lost hours of save data when the save corrupted, image what that kind of problem could do more complicated equipment.' Verna quickly answered.
[I wonder if all these explosives are going off as intended and where intended then. Maybe some of them aren't even making it to where they need to be.]Zai stated, Radara quickly translating.
'If they all really are drive by wire like this, then it should be a simple case of following the wires back to the source. Latios, can you help Latias recalibrate the zone to track these wires?' Radara asked, trying to reach out towards Latios, but shaking her head.
'Its not good, too much interference at this distance.' Radara stated, Thomas handing her the crystal to go share another message.
"It doesn't matter if these are going off correctly or not, Hurk can't be funding this alone. This isn't just a bunch of scrap bombs thrown together, these are large scale carefully constructed explosives. I see the basics of the explosive from here, but don't ask me what's in the vats, aside it clearly having a rank smell." Xent said, slowly getting closer. He helped Zai up first to let her look around carefully knowing that she would be careful.
Zai very slowly looked over the inside of the truck, not touching anything as she looked it over, Verna there with Xent as they did the best that they could to inspect it, before Zai rushed and jumped out, shaking her head and backing up. "There's a secondary device in there!" Xent stated knowing that would the first reason why Zai would rush out.
Zai quickly nodded and they all backed away, giving the truck giving it plenty of space when Radara returned and Latios flew down quickly.
"Careful, Zai thinks that there might be a secondary device in there." Xent stated as Latios flew over the truck, looking over it carefully.
'Just cut the cable in back right?' Latios asked.
"That's what Dahlia did and it become unresponsive." Thomas replied, Dahlia giving a small nod.
'You continue on and protect the prison if you can. We'll keep disposing of these trucks if we can't disable them, but we'll do as much as we can.' Latios stated, the group turning to leave the truck to Latios now to deal with.
Back on the run to try and reach the prison though, they quickly realised that once more they had someone tailing them as they left Latios to deal with the truck.
One of the knights had quietly been following them and when they tried to move past him and his hiding place, he jumped out at them, Thomas deflecting the blow, and Dahlia moving to counter. His pokemon never had a chance to do anything under Radara's immediate actions, but this wasn't the only problem.
The lopunny rushed them, slamming Xent's bag back into his chest, using the distraction to jump over him and land behind him. Xent tried to turn and face her, but the lopunny had already struck, one of her legs between his in a nasty, but held back kick. She wanted to hurt him, but having witnessed the lopunny already a kill a few knights already, it was clear that she was holding back.
Xent was just thankful that he had partially managed to block, not that it didn't stop the attack from hurting and disorienting him a bit, before she leaned up close to his felt and he felt something weird on his cheek. He went to swing with his crowbar, but she blocked even if she cried out in pain. She slugged him in the face to almost knock him out, and then pulled out his phone.
Xent was recovering as he looked up, only to see the selfie that the lopunny had taken, their faces close and his cheek had a clear set of lip marks on it. The lopunny then twisted Xent around before he recover and Zai was there to see it all, giving a rampaging war cry.
Zai tried rushing in recklessly, only to be kicked to the side by the lopunny, with a very smug look on her face, before it took off, waving Xent's phone along the way while still carrying his bag. As the lopunny continued to run it, it placed the phone in Xent's bag as well, as Thomas helped Xent up. Dahlia tried to grab it, but the lopunny seemed to know not to get close to her, easily dodging around Dahlia and not taking its chances against Dahlia. Radara was still busy trying to restrain the knights that were hounding them, before finally slamming them into the back of their own truck.
Another knight had snuck up on them though and Thomas was forced to let go of Xent to defend himself from the knight. With Xent fully recovered though, he took off after Zai who has picked herself up and tried to rush the lopunny.
Zai was only focused on the lopunny now as Thomas and Dahlia dealt with both knights knowing that after Ho-oh had already killed a few, there was no time to try and reason with them, before trying to give chase.
"Zai, stand still or I'll do it for you!" Dahlia yelled out, Verna teleporting to keep up with Xent suddenly feeling that she could, only for the shiny lopunny to hop over a ledge through some large bushes, and suddenly be in a large park. While Zai was almost able to keep up, Xent jerked her back and even returned her to her pokeball for the moment even mid sprint. Xent barely stopped in time as the lopunny now casually walked into the park mostly filled with people, with dozens of small children present.
Xent almost snapped at the lopunny for all the problems she was causing waiting for the others to catch up and figure out where they were, not seeing the children first. Verna however did notice and stuffed Xent's empty sleeve into his mouth to keep him quite and not verbally lashing out in front of all the children. In the second it took him to remove his sleeve, Xent noticed the large number of children in the park, the lopunny moving over and taking a seat next to some man.
"Xent, Stop chasing after everything that pisses you off!" Dahlia quietly snapped at him clearly not in the best of moods, and even ready to snap at Zai once she found her before noticing that Zai was in her pokeball. It was clear that she was biting her lip and just had to snap a little when looking for Zai, before giving a small shake of her head and then moving on. Even while Verna was helping Xent though, it was clear that Verna spared a worried glance to Dahlia.
A quick look over the park though and Dahlia hopped down carefully, Verna helping Xent down the ledge as Thomas and Radara caught up. Seeing the large park though, they were quickly concerned. It appeared to be a pokemon park, with a playground for children, a few school buses showing that this was some kind of school visit to the reserve center, the one that was just barely on the map that no one was really concerned about being so far away from the prison.
Looking it over now, it couldn't just be ignored. The school field trip presented a new danger and risk that had to be carefully dealt with and if there was trouble, the place would need to be evacuated quickly. Thomas and Radara hopped down following Xent, Dahlia, and Verna.
As Xent walked up with Verna towards the lopunny adjusting the tiaras some more on its ears it turned with a grin towards Xent, carefully lifting up the bag and setting it down beside herself on the bench. "Now now, there's no more need to tease them. Time to behave for a moment." A voice called out from the man beside the lopunny, and Xent and Verna quickly tensed as the man turned to look at them approaching.
"Hello again. Sorry about the wait, things were a little complicated." Hurk Handlerz grinned, Dahlia still keeping her halberd low.
"Just stay calm, and no one needs to get hurt. We wouldn't want a repeat of last time. There's no telling who might get hurt if someone were to … evolve again." Hurk smirked, slowly raising his hands, carefully slipping one sleeve of his suit back revealing six fancy bracelets, all with a glowing stone in them. As he did, the shiny lopunny just flipped her upper lip up, showing a small marble like stone between her teeth to help prove the point, as if daring any of them to make a move.
"My lovely little pet here has one, but gotta wonder... who else around this park does too?" Hurk smirked, letting the group of them look over the park, there nearly a hundred people there, and almost as many pokemon. A few tyranitars were helping move things around the park, a charizard was happily letting some children climb over it, a pair of audinos were helping the children patch themselves up from whatever minor incident had happened. Of course, those were the only known ones who could mega-evolve as far the group knew, but this left wondering how many others might had an extra stage of evolution to work with.
"Why don't you take a seat. We've got a few things to talk about. Honestly a little surprised to see you up on your feet there Xent, already heard about what happened with your sister. Shame on that... losing an arm. Can't say I feel sorry for ya, but I'm sure it won't slow you down too much. Go on, got a whole bench for you there. And don't worry about hiding your tools, the children won't notice em right now. Too busy playing around right now, as well as having been influenced to ignore what you're carrying around right now." Hurk stated, motioning the bench across from him.
"I don't think I need to explain how this isn't a request right now is it. Six... what's the news calling them, mega-evolved pokemon, in a crowded space like this. Not sure I can keep them all under control well enough to keep someone from getting hurt right now." Hurk added as the other's just looked at him.
"Well, if you want to stand, I won't stop you." Hurk stated, reaching over and rubbing his lopunny's ears, pulling off the tiara she had taken from the knights she had already dealt with.
"I'm here to sweeten the pot so to speak for three of you. Thomas and Radara, my employer still wants you to come and see the light of a new dawn. They are ready for this little take over this time. And they can offer you a lot. You'd still be second only to them, but they can offer you so much. A metaphorical palace of your own, whatever kind of welcoming home you'd like it to be, with staff and servant to help you preach the proper word of a god, a place to have lovers, even a chance of children of your own. Now they wouldn't be like you, not immortal, but just think of it... you would have the chance to start your own bloodlines, watch that bloodline grow in the world once the dust settles. Be a nice way to start the new world I think, you and your wife... even hers." Hurk stated, Thomas gripping the hilt of the borrowed crystalline blade even more as Hurk pointed to Dahlia and Verna some. Verna just grabbed both Dahlia and Xent though, keeping Xent from speaking right now.
"Immortality's a tricky thing... not something that they can help with right now in that sense of giving to others, but giving you the option of have actual children... who would be protected in the new age. A new line of speakers for a true god, one ready to take their place in the world properly." Hurk smiled.
"That thing... is never getting out. When we are ready for it, it will be for its execution. Those toys you've got won't be enough to break it out." Dahlia stated firmly.
"Oh those bomb trucks aren't meant to break it out. Not by a long shot. Those are just fancy noise makers, bait for the other side. We wouldn't be having this talk if it could be stopped. Fifteen, twenty minutes tops... Its out. Like I said, I'm just here to sweeten the pot, give you all a reason to join the winning side, or in Xent's case, to maybe just stay out of the way." Hurk stated, reaching into case at his feet, and pulling out a folder.
"Afton Farms, lovely place from what I'm told. Has some trouble brewing though. Nothing we've caused, but my employer would like you to know that we did handle a would be forced buy out and eviction of the make shift orphanage there. Place is too out of the way to be a concern for us, aside from the fact that you want it protected. I've been fully assured that the orphanage hold no interest to my employer, it won't be caught in any fights involving us directly. Children are the future after all, need to keep them safe to some degree. If you want to join the good cause here, my employer is fully ready to do whatever you want with the place. Funding, resources, protection, you need only ask, and it shall be your seat of power to be protected as you carry the good word around." Hurk stated, letting him see a copy of some buy out papers on one side of the folder, and then a police report detailing how the would be buyer was found dead in his home.
"You join us, and your little project there will never need for anything. Hell, you don't even have to join us. They've got other problems, once again none of them our doing, but they've still got problems. You leave this fight behind, go help your friends there, and we'll just ignore you. Even handicapped like that, you're still someone whose very resourceful. They could use your help, and my employer is prepared to just leave things be, let you sort any problems that they have, however you see fit. Course, you don't help us, what protection we've give the place already will dry up, but my employer is quite sure you can handle it, that you don't need us to help attempt to protect the place. If you ask me, either offer is pretty good. Its clear you don't need us to help you to protect the place if you go do it yourself, but think the help and chances you could give them if nothing else." Hurk explained, holding the folder still for Xent to look over.
Xent's face became stone cold as Hurk mentioned the Afton orphanage and went into great detail of it. However, it was a cover for the boiling rage within him, something Verna could feel. Smoothly and slowly, Xent took the folder but said no more. There was no longer any room for verbal threats, he had remembered the lessons learned from last time. All he did was stare into Hurk's eyes, unblinking.
Part of Xent hoped it would kill him on the spot. For now, he was just memorizing every detail he could of Hurk, his breathing, his movements, everything. He was breaking Hurk down as person in his mind. The more he learned of Hurk now, the more he could tear him apart in the future.
Hurk suddenly a cold hard shudder though, even biting his lip a little, but clearly not caring for the group. "Oh, that's cold alright... guess that means show time."
Even Thomas and Radara gave a small shudder turning back towards the land where the prison was, slowly turning around very concerned right now. "What's going on Thomas, Radara..." Dahlia asked seeing their sudden shift and knowing that it had to be bad.
"I'd keep those weapons of your close right now. You're gonna need em. In the meantime, I've got to keep my word, trying to get people out of harm's way. We did promise to limit the people who got caught the mess. Oh... and that reminds me. My employer has a gift. You might need it to deal with what's coming from the other side." Hurk stated, as his lopunny tossed Xent's bag right back to Xent rather forcibly. Of course, attached to his bag, or rather stapled to its side was a large plastic baggy, and in it is was large rather fancy disc, carefully holding a small marble like stone.
Xent easily grabbed that was tossed at him, ready to throw away whatever had been stapled to it, only to instantly recognize the small marble stone. Green, white, and red, the stone was instantly recognized, Xent's brow furrowed while his eyes filled with both confusion and rage only for Hurk to start putting on a show to distract everyone.
"W-what's going on there!" Hurk yelled out suddenly as he jolted up, a dark fissure slowly appearing in the sky, along with a more explosions, and pillars of smoke this time.
"You're that kid right? The one from the news, the child of Arcues. What's going on here?" Hurk called out even more as people began to look at them, only for the fissure to suddenly tear itself open far off in the distance, a wave of horrible feelings and a coldness rushing over everything for a few.
"Everyone, get to the buses, hurry up! Move move move, get the kids to the buses, we need to go!" Hurk started screamed, his lopunny rushing over to the jungle gym and grabbing the two children closest to the small cliffside, rush with the two pokemon that they had been playing with back towards the group of other people.
"Thomas... Dahlia, Radara... what was that?" Xent asked, knowing that whatever had happened was the real concern right now, only for an otherworldly cry to sound, and then something came out of the fissure, diving right for the ground.
Everything shook and Xent fell to the ground with dozen of people and pokemon by a sudden earthquake, followed by a massive explosion that shook most of Kanto.
A massive chunks of rocks, uprooted trees, and who knows what all else were tossed in the sky from the blast, starting to come slowly. Hurk quickly took charge of the evacuation, his lopunny throwing the kids at the school chaperons before turning back and looking to the sky, moving and tackling one of the people out of the way of the first of the falling rocks.
"HEY! What are you waiting for? Shouldn't you be helping people or finding out what's going on?" Hurk screamed at them, and people were looking to them.
Even Hurk dashed forward and grabbed one of the adults, jerking them to side as a large rock smashed a sign that the man was just standing beside in shock. Even more, an Alakazam teleported up above them, a large barrier coming up to shield the buses as Hurk and his lopunny worked to usher everyone to the parking lot.
Xent was going to say something towards Hurk but Dahlia had grabbed him, jerking him away from Hurk and to follow Thomas. "Go with Thomas, now!" She snapped in the severity of the situation. Thomas rushing forward back towards the cliff and towards the prison. Thomas jumped up the ledge easily, Radara helping Xent jump up.
Xent only noticed that Dahlia wasn't with them, which meant Verna was staying with her and clearly wanted to turn back around. Radara didn't let him however, helping him keep pace until a wave of cold washed over the area again, Thomas giving a full body shudder along with Radara, both of them stumbling mid run and even nearly toppled head over feet as Thomas about collapsed into a tree, his breathing hard. The three swords that he had been carrying at his side feel to the ground, Thomas barely able to physically hang onto the Guardian Aegis.
He rushed up and grabbed Radara, helping her up to an upright position as she shook he head. "What the hell is going on here? What the hell was that feeling!?" Xent demanded, looking over them and even glancing back to where Verna and Dahlia were forced to help protect the group.
"Distortion..." Thomas pants a little, holding his head, before looking over the land, before rushing back off, the sheathes of every blade Thomas was still trying to hold getting pulled off in one solid motion as Thomas recollected himself.
