Greetings and Salutations Everyone Thoth here. Hope everyone has had a great week and weekend.
Here is this weeks chapter. Hope you enjoy it.
After the feast and the announcing the start of the TriWizard Tournament, Harry found himself sitting in front to the common room fireplace trying to placate one Hermione Granger.
"I can't believe it. The nerve of that French girl just taking advantage of you Harry. Why didn't you resist, stop her, or something?!." Hermione exclaimed. Many of the girls in the common room silently nodded in agreement. Now of course, Hermione meant this as a rhetorical question, but enter the Weasley Twins.
"Well Ms Granger, -" Gred said.
"when a bird like that wants -" Forge continued.
"to thank the oh so gallant -" Gred spoke.
"Boy Who Lived.-" Forge finished
"Who is he to tell her no?" The twins asked with a cunning smile on their faces.
"Speaking of which, Mr Chevalier, when you and Frenchie settle down sometime this year, think you can set us up with some of her friends?" Forge (?) asked.
"Why would he do that?" Hermione asked, clearly getting more annoyed with the twins if judging from the sparks of static flowing off her bushy mane of hair.
"Hear that Gred? Sounds like Ms Granger has staked her claim on one Mr. Potter." Forge said.
"Indeed my less handsome twin." Gred replied. The twins quickly ducked as Hermione quickly launched a Stinging Hex at the two.
"That is not what I meant. ARRGH!" Hermione exclaimed, as she stormed up the girls stairway.
The twins burst out laughing as they seemed to one up Hermione, though Harry silently prayed for their well being. Hermione would have her revenge and it would be terrible for the two. Harry turned and saw Ron sitting at a table with the chess board in front of him, not playing. The redhead had been offly quiet this evening and aside from the Great Hall hadn't said a word. Harry wasn't sure if he should say anything but he figured his friend would say something to him eventually. Harry then went up the stairs and went to bed.
The next day Harry went down the Great Hall for breakfast, he just knew it was going to be a strange day. How did he know? Well when he sat down at the Gryffindor table, other people from other houses sat next to him and across from him. Now normally this wouldn't be an issue or concerning, but what was concerning was the Slytherin girls that sat next to him. Like right on top of him.
"Um Greengrass?" Harry started to get her attention. "Not that I'm complaining but why are you sitting next to me like this?"
"Well, Potter, if you must know. The Hogwarts Witches Association, decided you couldn't be left alone with the Frogs assaulting you, and we all decided we needed to make a united stand against the other schools." Daphne Greengrass, Ice Queen of the Dungeons, said coolly.
"But shouldn't that be with just the tournament?"
"Potter since you don't seem to understand in simple terms. You are Hogwarts Most Eligible Bachelor, you belong to England. Foreigners are not allowed. You have girls from every house here from Years 3-7 that want to drag you into a broom closet. We will not allow you to be left alone with the French, who will not play by the rules."
"What rules?"
"Harry, the rules that state you don't try to claim the Boy-Who-Lived in front of every single and non-single witch in the Great Hall during a major event." Susan Bones across from him said.
"She was simply thanking me though?" Harry questioned. That was what she was doing wasn't it.
"Non. The little girls are correct, in a way. They feel threatened, and realize that they have wasted the last few years." Fleur stated. As she walked over and joined the rest of the girls from her school.
Harry proceeded to remain confused, and didn't feel like dealing with more issues. It was already Halloween and he was having a bad feeling.
"Greengrass, why are you next to Harry?" Harry turned and saw Hermione standing behind them.
"Granger, the HWA decided Harry needed extra attention this year due to the development of a new external threat."
"I see." Hermione then proceeded to sit down next to Harry and open a book and start studying while eating light breakfast.
"Harry? You're not going to try and enter the tournament right?" Hermione asked.
"Nope. No way in hell am I going anywhere near that Flaming Death Trap." Harry stated with cold conviction. "Maybe if it was on some other day of the month. Maybe. But on Halloween with my luck, my name is liable to come out anyways. This tournament will be the perfect death sentence for me."
When Harry said that, the girls around the table went quiet, as a cold chill went down the table. Everyone knew bad things happened on Halloween to Harry Potter. It was the only reliable thing that could be predicted. Hell Divinations could be used to predict it.
Later that evening, as the school gathered in the Great Hall, as Harry predicted his name came out of the Goblet. Surprise, Surprise. Well at least this time Harry had the backing of the school, well half the school.
The Day of the First Task
As Harry sat in the tent waiting for his turn, " Harry?"
"Hermione?" Harry called out. As he looked around he found it was just him, that is until Hermione pulled off his Invisibility Cloak.
"How are you feeling?" she asked.
Harry shrugged, "Surprisingly calm. Seeing how I'm going to battle a dragon." It was true after all, he thought he would be super worried or anxious, but he wasn't.
"That's good to hear. Remember you have to stay focused on the spell for it to work, but I know you have this down. You do well in these situations. But that's not why I came to visit, I didn't see you this morning since I was trying to gather my Gryffindor courage." Hermione said with a slight blush to her face. "I have a good luck charm for you Harry and I was hoping you would let me give it to you."
"I would be ever grateful for the Brightest Witch to give me a good luck charm. Since its from you I know it will work no problem." Harry said cheekily.
"Don't be smart with me, Mr. Potter. But since I'm gracious enough, I'll overlook your cheek." Hermione said with a fake bossy attitude. "I need you to close your eyes, or it won't work."
"Yes My Lady." Harry said. He then closed his eyes and waited. The next thing Harry knew, he felt Hermione's lips press against his. As she pulled away, Harry opened his eyes to see a bashful Hermione standing in front of him.
"Good Luck Harry." Hermione mumbled.
"Hermione, I don't know what to say." Harry said with shock in his voice.
"I don't expect you to say anything, Harry. I just wanted to let you know how I felt. And hoped you would be willing to accept the feelings of a 12 year old girl who watched a scrawny 11 year old boy who tackled a troll by himself." Hermione mumbled softly.
Harry, not knowing what to say, found himself wrapping Hermione in a gentle hug and giving her a gentle kiss.
"That is the response that the scrawny 11 year old would like to give his best friend, who has saved him more times than he can count now and in the future." Harry told her. "Now if you will excuse me, I have a dragon to tackle, so that I can take the girl I love to a date in Hogsmeade."
With a smirk on her face, Hermione picked up the Cloak and put it on, "Best come back alive Mr. Potter, or I will be very cross with you."
"Don't worry Mione. It's only a dragon, my girlfriend is scarier." Harry said over his shoulder as he proceeded out the tent.
