An apology in advance for that.

I promise better things will come in the next chapters, but first let's get some family drama into this story.
Still, I hope you enjoy it ❤️

11. Typhoon

🌊 Summer 🌊

"Every broken promise has a consequence and just like a strong wind gust, this can turn into a typhoon that can sweep away everything in its path."

14 weeks pregnant

June 28th

03:00 p.m.

"I heard that your mission with the first-year students turned into a dangerous situation at the last minute and I heard that you got a little hurt against that curse, Maki, are you sure you're okay?"

"Takana?"

Maki at that moment was next to Panda and Toge, the three of them were in the corridor where the vending machines are located, very close to the exit of the institution.

After their missions that day, the three of them had met at that point and at that moment they were having a soda and resting a bit, while watching the rain fall with intensity.

"We're fine" replied Maki, opening the can of iced tea she had bought from the machine.

"Did any of the students get hurt? " Panda asked curiously.

"Tuna?" Toge shook his head slightly in confusion at that answer before sipping his soda.

"TSK!" Maki clicked her tongue at that little slip of the tongue in her words.

Since a week ago, she began to speak more in the plural. This was because she was unconsciously starting to speak for her baby as well.

"I said I'm fine! And those three brats are out of danger too. This mission was a lesson to them not to take this sorcery thing too lightly" she took a sip of her tea.

"And yes, the mission got a bit dangerous when we saw that it was NOT as we had been told at the beginning that it would only be a reconnaissance mission, so I had to do most of the work since those brats were not going to be able to fight a semi first class curse" Maki commented a bit annoyed by that interrogation.

"But wasn't Yuta supposed to be on this mission with those first year?" questioned Panda.

Maki sighed heavily at that question. Both had agreed that she would be able to take that mission without Yuta's company, because they both thought that it would be a very simple reconnaissance mission, where maybe she would not have to fight and he could take advantage of it to try to cover the other missions where he was urgently needed.

"Yes, it was a mission for him, but at the last minute it was agreed that I would take it due to the lack of personnel at the moment" she commented, a little annoyed at having to explain.

"Besides, I can take care of myself! I don't need Yuta or anyone else to accompany me on this kind of missions" She put her left hand in the pocket of her sweatshirt, that garment helped her hide her belly due to how big and loose it was, "Although I must say that that stupid curse was a bit hard to beat, his skin was tougher than I thought, and yes, I admit that I got a few bumps, but I can assure you that I'm fine, you don't need to worry about that, pair of fools" she drank from that can.

"Even though your resistance is one of the strongest, you should go and get yourself checked to see if that curse didn't leave any trace of its cursed energy inside you, the reports said that the cursed energy of that curse affected its victims from the inside" said Panda, bringing his claw close to his muzzle.

"Salmon! " Toge shook his head affirmatively.

"I told you I'm fine! If I start to feel sick I'll go see Shoko, but for the moment I'm fine" commented Maki with a grimace, while her hand inside her pocket caressed her belly a little as she finished drinking her tea.

She didn't really feel bad at the time.

That subtle movement of her hand rubbing her stomach was noticed by her furry companion.

"Mmmm" Panda wiggled his ears a bit as he looked curiously at his companion. "Oh!" he seemed to have detected something.

Maki noticed that gesture of her animal friend.
!What? Why that face?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I hadn't noticed it until now, but, Maki, you look a little different" Panda tilted his head slightly.

"Tuna" he also tilted his head slightly.

"Different? What do you mean whit different?" Maki grimaced at the gestures made by her companions as she tried to act normal.

"mmm it's hard to explain and by the way" Panda lightly sniffed Maki, circling around her "You even smell different. Are you sure you're okay?" he was very close to her.

"Salmon?" Toge motioned.

Maki, faced with such an invasion of her personal space, crushed the can in her hand with fury, making them both take a step backwards "I swear, if you come near me like that again, I will beat you up and leave you like this can!"

"Konbu!" Toge moved his hands making an x, but from the look on his face he was worried.

"But Maki, I notice something different about you and you also smell like someone else!" commented Panda with concern "Are you sure that curse didn't do anything else to you?"

"Takana!" Toge just nodded his head.

"You pair of fools are just delirious, I told you I'm fine! And no! That curse didn't give me more than a few simple scratches that will heal in a matter of days, but talk about smelly! The ones who stink here are you two, ugh how disgusting! You should go take a bath" she said with a grimace.

"I don't smell anything! I don't even sweat!" Panda just wiggled his ears.

"Tuna!"

Maki rolled her eyes as she endured the nauseas. "PUAJ! whatever! I told you I'm fine! And if you'll excuse me" she threw her can into the trash can "I'll go get my stuff, from there I'm going home to take a bath" she grumbled, that bad mood suddenly appeared "I've had enough of putting up with their disgusting smells" she said starting her march to go get her stuff inside the academy.

Toge and Panda looked at each other confused by Maki's attitude. They thought that maybe that change in mood was due to tiredness or maybe it must be because she was hungry or maybe it was a hormonal thing from every month.

"Do I really smell that bad?" Panda asked Toge.

To which Toge only nodded his head and made gestures of wanting to vomit to annoy his animal friend.

03:30

Maki was now in another hallway of that academy, in that space there were several benches to sit on and there were also two other vending machines.

At the last minute, she had a craving for apple juice with some cookies, so before leaving for home, she decided to indulge her pregnant craving.

And so in complete solitude she began to quietly sip that drink and began to enjoy those cookies.

She sat back down on that bench, opened her sweatshirt and tenderly caressed her belly with her right hand while with her left she held that can of juice.

"I don't know how much longer I can hide you from everyone" she sighed as she leaned her back on the bench "And you mustn't tell your father anything about what happened today with that curse, otherwise he'll become more paranoid, PUFF!" She pouted slightly "That's the only thing I hate about all this!" she said before taking another sip of her juice without taking her other hand off her belly.

She looked inside her bag and noticed that she had her boshi kenkou techou notebook in there, and she also noticed that she had not taken out her pendant that cheerfully said "I have a baby in my belly" that had been given to her at the town hall.

Being too busy with other things and her missions, she did not remember those things that had been given to her almost a month ago and that she had to carry in plain sight to warn that she was a pregnant woman.

Seeing those objects still made her a little uncomfortable as she did not want to show them off yet.

She took that book for a moment and remembered that she had not yet written anything in it and still had to fill in some information, among which she still had to choose the hospital where she would have her medical visits and where she would give birth.

That topic had also been a bit difficult to discuss, since she wanted a hospital where they could respect her body and her decisions when giving birth, but none so far convinced her.

She was flipping through that notebook a little more, she was so busy debating on what to write in those blank spaces of that book, that it was the presence of another person that brought her out of her thoughts.

"I thought you had already gone home, Maki san" commented a pleasant female voice.

Maki quickly gave a jump when she heard that person. She hid that booklet inside her bag and mistakenly dropped her pendant.

"You scared me Shoko san! What are you doing here?" asked Maki trying to catch her breath.

"I'm sorry if I startled you!" she apologized first, "I usually come to this area to get a coffee from this machine or sometimes I come to smoke a little since this hallway is always empty and it is very close to my office" replied the doctor as she continued to stand in front of the machine and decide which drink to choose.

"Well, that would explain why ever since I got here I got a faint smell of cigarettes" replied Maki, taking a last sip of her juice.

"I'm surprised to see you here, I thought you had already retired from the academy after your mission today" said that doctor pressing some buttons on the vending machine to get a can.

"I was actually just leaving, I was just waiting for the rain to pass" she quickly zipped up her sweatshirt to hide her belly. She crossed her legs and put her elbow on her knee to hide it a bit.

That bottle of coffee fell over and Shoko took it out of the machine while she continued talking to Maki.

"I heard about your mission today with those first-years, I already checked them and all three are in good condition, none of them were hurt and it's all thanks to you" said the doctor, lightly shaking the cold drink before opening it.

"I guess it was my duty to help them and more that they were under my tutelage at the time" She shrugged "I guess I just did what any good teacher would do"

"I guess so"

Shoko smiled slightly at that answer. And more so coming from that woman, since she knew that Maki never had a good teacher inside that academy.

She simply regarded Gojo and Kusakabe as a couple of idiots who were useless for teaching.

"And how do you feel? Since you arrived you haven't gone to the nursing to be checked and from what I heard from those students, you were attacked by that curse, is everything all right? Do you need to be checked?" asked Shoko looking at her with curiosity.

Maki only nodded her head, as she changed her position, now leaning her back on the bench.

"I'm fine, I just received some scratches, but they are nothing serious, in a matter of days they will disappear, although I must confess that I feel too tired because of everything that happened this day" she sighed in annoyance.

Although that tiredness was also a symptom of her pregnancy.

"I understand, you'd better go home and rest." Shoko took a sip of the coffee as she saw how Maki looked a bit nervous.

Shoko took a cigarette out of her pocket and as she was about to light it, she stopped as she remembered why she couldn't smoke in front of that woman.

That doctor was very astute, so it was time to check something I had been suspecting about Maki.

"Oh, before I forget, there's something I want to give you, Maki san" she began to look for something else in her medical coat bag.

"At first I was thinking of giving it to Yuta, but since I haven't seen him for days, I suppose you could give it to him, although I must confess that I find it more comfortable to give it to you personally" said the doctor, taking something else out of her pocket.

"And what is it?" asked Maki, raising an eyebrow. It all seemed too strange to her.

That was freaking Maki out a bit, and even more so when that doctor had named her husband.

Shoko took out a small business card and passed it to Maki.
"I think this will be very helpful for the next few months, it is the number of a very good medical colleague who is also a sorceress, so she is someone we can trust and if you go on behalf of my name, she can treat you without problems and without charging you too much".

"Obstetrician-gynecologist?" Maki gasped as she read the profession written on the card.

"And why are you giving this to me?" she managed to articulate and asked nervously, "I don't need it!" she lied.

Shoko finished taking another sip of her coffee and then answered seriously, "The question here is . And why shouldn't I give it to you when it is more than obvious that you need it? Accept it as an urgent medical recommendation".

The atmosphere for a moment felt somewhat tense in that hallway and even more so when Ieiri stared at Maki.

Perhaps Shoko did not deal as directly with the students as Gojo, Utahime or Kusakabe did, let alone see them every day, because they only came to her when they had a physical ailment or ended up hurt by the missions.

Still, she cared about everyone and wanted everyone to be okay. She simply wanted to be an adult they could trust.

"You don't have to distrust me, I just want you and your baby to be well," Shoko replied calmly, her beautiful face so serene that it conveyed compassion.

Maki felt her soul leave her body when she heard those words and her eyes widened enormously, she was simply cornered.

"How did you know?" she stood up quickly from her place and made fists with her hands, "Did Utahime sensei tell you?" she asked annoyed and frowning.

"Does Utahime already know?" Shoko raised her eyebrows a little, even her voice had that tone of surprise for that revelation.

The green-haired woman was completely speechless. How on earth had Shoko noticed?

"So if she didn't tell you, how did you find out?" Maki managed to say in a whisper.

"Maki, I have been a doctor for more than ten years and it is more than obvious that I can distinguish all the physical changes you have been trying to hide for about a month now" replied Shoko, pointing slightly to Maki´s belly.

"Besides, by the way you are behaving and by the way you have been avoiding me for a long time so that I wouldn't check you, it is more than obvious that you are trying to hide your pregnancy" the doctor continued speaking in a very calm and somewhat serious tone of voice.

"And no, Utahime had not told me anything, she would never break a promise of this kind and even less with another pregnant woman, and I know this because I have known her for more than ten years" The corner of her lips rose very slightly "You don't have to worry, you can trust me to talk about your pregnancy" Shoko stretched her hand as she felt that at any moment this woman was going to faint.

Maki swallowed. She felt that Shoko was telling half the truth. She didn't doubt that as a doctor she had discovered all her symptoms, but it felt as if someone had told her about her condition.

"Since when did you become suspicious?" asked Maki uneasily, feeling that something was not right as her hand was on her belly.

The revelation that would follow would only be the strong wind that blows with too much intensity once the typhoon hits the coast and that would only shake the young couple.

Shoko finished her coffee, threw that bottle in the appropriate pot and took a breath before blurting out the truth.

"Since about two months ago, when all of a sudden you changed the way of accomplishing your missions, it was very sudden that you went from doing them alone to suddenly doing missions only in the company of your husband" she explained calmly, her face was really with an expression of total calmness.

Maki was completely amazed by Shoko's deductions. She was simply beautiful and intelligent.

"But I became even more suspicious a few weeks ago, when Yuta asked me some strange questions about symptoms that medically speaking only pregnant women have" She began to explain, looking into her eyes.

"From there my suspicion that the two of you were expecting a baby grew stronger and added to the little you were seen at the academy and the change in your clothing, that added to the slight physical changes you present, was what made me more suspicious" but the next thing Shoko would say, would break Maki's heart.

"But that suspicion was confirmed a few days ago, when Yuta confessed to me in a moment of desperation that you two were expecting a baby" Shoko confessed, recalling Yuta's behavior a few days ago.

Everything Shoko had said was true.

Since Yuta found out he was going to be a father, his worries and fears had grown too much.

For a long time he had been trying to approach Shoko to ask him all his doubts and more than that, he could not leave it in the hands of anyone else, he felt that he as a future father should see for the good of his family. And that day came at a time when he felt quite desperate to say that he would be a father.

And that's how he broke a promise.

Maki felt her soul leave her body once again.

She felt her blood freeze as her hands went slack and fell to her sides.

The one who was her husband, the one who was supposed to be the love of her life, had broken a condition that was valuable to her, which they had promised to each other in Atami.

Maki felt she could forgive other mistakes, but never a broken promise and condition.

"Maki, are you all right?" Shoko immediately approached the woman, who remained silent as she listened to all this.

Maki let out a sigh as her hands caressed her small belly. She blinked several times to clear the tears that were forming. They were tears of disappointment.

"So… Yuta was the one who told you... wow" Maki uttered in a whisper.

"I'm sorry for this" Shoko began to apologize as he stood a few steps away from her "I know it may have been imprudent of me to approach you this way, but as the doctor of this institution I am concerned about your situation"

Maki took a deep breath, she knew she couldn't be completely angry with Shoko, as she was just concerned and wanted the best for her and her baby.

But really, she wasn't happy with Yuta at all.

They had sworn to each other in front of the altar never to break their promises or betray the trust they had in each other. And Yuta had done both.

And so with that feeling of disappointment, Maki picked up her bag and started walking.

"I must go now..." she said, passing by the doctor's side.

Shoko sighed at the woman's reaction, and out of the corner of her eye, something caught her attention in the place where Maki had stood up.
As she approached, she noticed that pendant, which she picked up and admired it a little between her fingers.

"Maki"

The doctor named her, causing her to stop and turn to look at her.

"You dropped this, it is important that you carry it, even if it is in your pocket for any emergency" she said returning the pendant in a small throw, and thanks to the good reflexes of that sorceress, caught it without problems.

Maki looked at her pendant and sighed a little as she looked at it in her hands, so she decided to keep it.

"Shoko san, Thank you for the recommendation, maybe these days I will go to visit your colleague" her voice sounded calm, although the lump in her throat was barely letting her speak "Also, do you think you could keep this secret about my pregnancy a little longer? Please? I just want to keep it that way a little longer... just until I'm ready"

Shoko looked at her with compassion, she understood that this pregnancy was not easy for this woman.

"Okay, but in exchange, just promise me that if anything happens or you need help, you will contact me right away, okay?" said the doctor looking at her fixedly.

Maki just nodded her head yes and left before the storm came back with force.

Shoko just sighed.

After that talk with Shoko, Maki went straight home.

The poor girl was so disappointed that once she got into the shower, she burst into tears.

It was the accumulation of emotions experienced that day and the hormones, which made her burst into tears.

She felt too disappointed that her husband had broken a simple condition. She felt it was a betrayal, especially since the term they had agreed upon was not even over.

She really didn't know how to react when he came home.

After taking that bath, Maki was resting on the couch in the living room.

She took a small first aid kits she had at home and proceeded to cure the mark that the curse had left on her right leg. It was a big scratch, which went from below her knee to before her foot, which he covered with some ointment.

About an hour passed and she was still sitting on that sofa, she was eating some cookies quietly while watching TV, when suddenly she saw how the door of the apartment opened and saw Yuta enter in a hurry.

She just felt too much discomfort at the sight of him, that typhoon had made landfall and was raging through her veins.

"MAKI!" Yuta hurried home, quickly opening that door and rushing inside.

He was worried because he had been told at the academy that his wife's mission had gone from a simple reconnaissance mission, to a mission where she and the students had to fight a semi-first degree curse.

That sorcerer came running home, even arriving a bit soaked because he had to run in the rain.

He was too worried because Maki wasn't answering her phone. He was thinking the worst.

He sighed a sigh of relief to see his wife in her pajamas, sitting on the couch with her legs stretched out and caressing her slight tummy and a plate full of cookies on the table.

But that relief was all too fleeting when he saw a large red mark on his wife's right leg, so he quickly dropped his things in the doorway and approached her.

"Maki, are you okay? At the academy they told me about how your mission ended!" Yuta was all worried, "Let me heal your leg," he said as he put his hand on his wife's leg and started to use his reverse curse technique.

Maki just pressed her lips tightly together and tried not to cry as she watched her husband heal the wound. The reverse curse technique always gave her a tingling sensation that sometimes felt like a slight burn and with all those mixed feelings, instead of feeling relief, this time it hurt more than usual.

Yuta looked her in the eyes for a moment "Do you have any other wounds? How is the baby? Why didn't you tell Shoko to cure you at the academy?" he asked still with his hand on that wound, but his wife didn't say anything.

"I guess that last question doesn't matter anymore" he looked at Maki again with a slight smile as he was about to finish healing that wound, "I see you're eating some cookies, Love, do you need me to bring you something else from the kitchen?" but she just kept looking at him with her arms crossed over her chest and her gaze was cold, even her lips were pursed.

"Maki, is everything all right?" he asked again when he received no answer from his wife. He was really worried.

She could not take it anymore, so she put her hands on Yuta's hand and snatched it from his leg quickly, causing Yuta to be shocked by that act, leaving the healing unfinished.

"Maki? What's going on?" Yuta began to question with more concern as he watched tears stream down her cheeks.

"Why did you do it?" she asked, her voice cracking.

"Do what?"He was too confused.

"Yuta!, why did you break our promise?" asked Maki angrily.

Her husband froze.
"What are you talking about?"

"Don't pretend you don't know!. You promised me! "Maki got up from the couch quickly and swung her arms from side to side.

"You promised you wouldn't tell anyone about us having a baby! And today, Shoko confessed to me that you told her about my pregnancy! WHY DID YOU BREAK OUR PROMISE?" she was really angry.

Yuta also stood up.
"I can explain!" he said, raising both hands in a sign of peace, "But please calm down, this could hurt the baby!

"The baby this! The baby that! ARE YOU ONLY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS BABY AND YOU HAVEN'T EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT HOW I FEEL?" Maki blurted out those words with some anger as she pointed to herself.

She had long wanted to shout out that feeling, because Maki felt that Yuta was only focusing on that baby and not on her as his wife.

Yuta sighed. "I really care about both of them! That's why I did it!"

"Why couldn't you keep your mouth shut for a few more weeks? Yuta! Why did you have to break our promis? " She cross her arms.

"Was it really wrong for me to break this promise for the sake of the three of us?!" Yuta questioned a bit offended.

"Yes, it was wrong because you betrayed the trust I had in you! Besides, everything was going great!" she waved her hands back and forth.

"I did not betray your trust!"

"If you did, why was I overvaluing this promise we had made to each other! I was trusting you! I was trusting that you could keep this secret a little longer! I was trusting you as my husband! Do you know how I feel at this fucking moment with all this?" she wiped away some tears.

"Maki, please listen to me…" pleaded Yuta.

But Maki raised her voice.
"I was holding up my end of the bargain to the letter. I sacrificed all my solo missions to keep your stupid condition of going on missions together, but why couldn't you at least keep your damn mouth shut for another week or two?! You don't know how hard I'm having a hard time with this whole baby thing!"

Yuta also raised his voice.
"And haven't you thought about how I feel about all this? Maki, you are not the only one who is suffering or having a hard time because of all this that we are hiding from the others!"

"On the contrary, you seem very comfortable with all this" she rolled her eyes as her hands went to her hips "You are not the one carrying this baby inside you!" her hand went to her belly.

Those words made Yuta too upset.

"Well, it seems that you too are not seeing all that I am doing and sacrificing for you and for trying to keep this marriage afloat!" Yuta replied with annoyance.

"What are you trying to say?" asked Maki offended and without taking her eyes off him.

"What I'm trying to say is that I'm as concerned about you as I am about my son! Is that wrong? Because it seems like I'm the only one who's the problem here! Haven't you ever thought about how I'm doing?" he looked at her in annoyance, he too had reached his limit.

"You're not seeing everything I'm doing for you either! I've been taking twice as many missions so that you and the baby don't get exposed like this!" he pointed to the wound on Maki's leg "I also tried to trust you on this mission thinking that you wouldn't do something reckless and see, instead of running away or calling for reinforcements, you fought that curse and got injured! Are you doing this on purpose? If you didn't want to have our child, you would have said so in the first place! Because that's the feeling I get every time you complain about all this!"

Those words upset Maki too much.

"OF COURSE I DON'T WANT TO LOSE THIS BABY, AND BESIDES, I MUST REMIND YOU THAT IT WAS MY DECISION TO HAVE IT, AND THIS WAS NOT ON PURPOSE!" she shouted and pointed to her leg wound.

"And about this wound! I had to intervene because the students' lives were at risk as well as mine!" Maki sounded too upset "It was my duty to protect them, just as it was your damn duty to keep your mouth shut! Wouldn't you have done the same thing?"

"I admit it! Maybe if I had done the same as you, although for my degree in sorcery, it's more than obvious that I would have finished with that thing in a heartbeat! And yes, I admit it, I broke a promise! I broke our damn agreement, but I had to do it because I care about you" he sighed a little "And if I ended up telling Shoko everything is because there are some symptoms that I don't know if they are normal in a pregnancy and even more in someone like you" Yuta explained in a high tone of voice.

"Someone like me? Are you considering me inferior to you? Are you bragging about your degree in sorcery?" asked Maki, very annoyed by everything her husband said.

"Of course I'm not boasting anything to you! And I don't consider you inferior to me! I consider you equal to me!" Yuta shouted, "But that's why I had to tell Shoko the truth so she could take care of you in case I wasn't around! YOU'RE ALWAYS SO RECKLESS!" he waved his hands angrily and looked seriously at Maki's wound.

"What are you trying to say about me?" Maki stared at him and gritted her teeth a little.

"WHAT AM I TRYING TO SAY? MAKI JUST LOOK AT YOU! YOU KEEP FIGHTING AGAINST CURSES EVEN IN YOUR CONDITION! YOU CARRY OUR CHILD IN YOUR BELLY AND YET YOU FIGHT AGAINST THOSE THINGS WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT THE DANGER! AND NOT ONLY IS THAT THE PROBLEM, BUT I ALSO DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY YOU KEEP REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU ARE PREGNANT!" He began to list with his fingers those things that he felt Maki was doing wrong and that made his angry with her "YOU REFUSE TO WEAR THE PENDANT THEY GAVE US AT THE TOWN HALL, YOU REFUSE TO TALK TO OTHERS ABOUT THIS TO THE EXTENT THAT YOU HAVE EVEN DISTANCED YOURSELF FROM EVERYONE AND BY THE WAY YOU HAVE LIED TO YOUR BEST FRIEND, AND I STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY YOU MAKE ALL THIS SO DIFFICULT, WHICH SHOULD TRY TO BE A 'WONDERFUL' STAGE FOR BOTH OF YOU, YOU ARE ONLY COMPLICATING IT TOO MUCH WITH YOUR DAMN ATTITUDE MAKI, YOU ARE NOT SICK, YOU ARE PREGNANT! YOU'VE GOT A LIFE INSIDE YOU!"

"WELL, I WOULDN'T SAY THAT BEING PREGNANT MAKES EVERYTHING AS WONDERFUL AS EVERYONE MAKES YOU BELIEVE, AND IT'S EASY FOR YOU TO SAY THAT BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT GOING THROUGH ALL THE CHANGES!" said Maki, rolling her eyes a little.

"Maki, listen to me..." he was interrupted.

"YOU LISTEN TO ME! Yuta, i told you months ago, if I tell everyone else that I am pregnant, there is a chance that they will treat me like a sick person rather than a normal woman and I don't want that!" she replied "Besides, our part of the deal was to keep it a secret until I am ready to reveal it and I am not ready yet!"

"And until when will you be ready, eh Maki? Until it is born? Or until you lose that baby?" shouted Yuta very angrily.

Maki just pursed her lips at such questions, kept silent while Yuta kept talking in annoyance.

"I don't think our friends and colleagues would treat you like a sick person! On the contrary, I feel that all of them would be more supportive than we think we deserve" Yuta took a few steps, until he was face to face with her.

"And the truth, the last thing I want is to see you suffer like Utahime sensei suffered when she lost her baby... I really couldn't bear to lose you or our son... I mean it with all my heart, I'm sorry for breaking this promise" He tried to touch Maki's cheek, but she didn't let him touch her.

His wife shook her head no.
"I really can't forgive you for breaking our promise... I put my trust in you and you didn't keep your word" she whispered looking Yuta in the eyes, she was really upset with him.

"Maki, I already gave you my reasons why I had to break our promise, seriously, I'm sorry for having done it... let's not argue anymore because this can hurt you and our baby" his voice became small.

But she was really hurt by it all. And more so because "Some broken promises can also break your heart".

And that's how Maki felt, heartbroken.

It might seem like a stupid thing, but for someone like her, who grew up in a place where she was treated too badly, to see that someone who claims to love you can't keep such a promise made her very disappointed.

"At this moment, I don't want to see or hear you anymore... it really hurts me that you broke this, I only asked you one thing, just one and that was to keep this secret for one or two more weeks" She caressed her belly "For me this hurts me more than the scratch and the blows that curse gave me…" said Maki with her voice about to break as she averted her gaze.

Yuta felt the world come upon him at such words. "Maki I..." he was interrupted.

"And if that's how you broke this little promise, I can't imagine later when this baby is born and you break more of them" she replied, taking a step back.

"Please Maki, I already explained to you the reasons why I had to break it, please forgive me..." whispered Yuta with too much sadness.

She shook her head, her pride was stronger at that moment
"I can't and at this point I don't even know if I want to continue being married to someone who can't respect and keep a simple promise... someone who can't keep a small deal " Maki said too coldly as she looked down at the ground.

Yuta froze at those words.

"What are you trying to say?" He asked in a whisper.

"What I'm trying to say is that maybe we should split up if things are going to be this tense between the two of us from now on" she replied with annoyance.

"Are you talking about divorce?"

"Maybe..."

"Are you serious?" Yuta's voice came out with difficulty "Do you want our marriage to end this way!" that lump formed more tightly in his throat.

Tears began to stream down Maki's cheeks
"Things between the two of us seem to be getting more complicated as the months go by and perhaps, separating is the best thing to do at this time"

Yuta tried to take her hand "Love, please forgive me..."

But Maki just shook her head no, she really felt too disappointed.

"Yuta, please take your things and get out of here... I don't want to see you anymore right no," she said, crossing her arms over her chest and avoiding looking him in the eyes, "I need my space... I need to think things over"

The sorcerer sighed heavily. He knew that Maki's pride at that moment was stronger than anything.

Perhaps what they needed was time to recover after that heavy storm.

"OK" Yuta rubbed the back of his neck a little "I'll give you the time you need to think well about all the things and if you really want the divorce or not" sigh "I'll go to the room to get some of my things, call me if you need anything or if you and the baby feel bad, my phone will always be on for you" he said sadly as he went to get some of his things to get out of there.

He took what he thought would be the most important thing for a few days and then left the place he had always considered his home, but not before taking one last look at Maki, who was sitting on the couch and wiping her tears while one of her hands rubbed her belly.

And so, closing the door behind him, he left.

That night they both cried too much, just as it didn't stop raining for the next few days.

🌊To be continue...

Notes

Here Vera with this chapter that may have made more than one of us despair, cry, get angry or even want to throw the phone or crash the computer.

Again an apology if I made you feel any of what I mentioned in the previous paragraph, I really wanted to write all this storm between the two of them since what will come in the following chapters will be a little test of fire for these future parents.

Anyway, you know I love drama with these topics haha but there you have another example of a fic I did about pregnancy haha "Utahimes Baby"

Also, I wanted to write something like this before I start getting to the end of the summer arc and already almost start with the fall stage of this fic 🍂🍁

Some may feel that what Maki did, said and felt is unfair, but tell me, how would you feel if you were in her shoes? Has someone broken your heart in this way? Has someone broken a promise or reneged on a deal that you felt was important to you?

Because maybe some may consider all this as something stupid, but there are people that no matter how small the issue or the promise that was broken, they will feel that it will hurt them for a lifetime and that's how I felt Maki would suffer with something they promised each other since chapter 07.

Maybe what Yuta did was both the right thing to do and not the right thing to do, it must not be easy for him either.
But what do you think about all this? Who is right?

About Panda's dialogues about Maki smelling different, I just read around that some pregnant women may have a minimal change in their body odor due to hormones, that's why he says she smells like someone else.

Well changing the subject, it's time for Uncle Gojo to make his appearance again in this story ✨️y to put his spoon in this soup.

We will keep reading ❤️
