Just saying, but there will be 40-50 chapters of LAoC, and then a sequel.

40 years later

I quietly sneaked up on a full-grown man, in my twelve-year-old body, and quickly slammed Ανελεητος full force in his abdomen. He didn't even get to scream. "That's the fifth kill." I murmured, getting the notebook from the pocket of my cloak. My sword morphed into a pen and I quickly ticked it before keeping the book.

Another one down… he would be proud. She said admiringly.

"Of course he would." I replied, feeling smug. "It's me, after all."

She hummed, pleasantly. It was honestly funner when she tried to fight. I sighed. No more of that anymore, I'm disappointed. Kálaïslinos glittered, signaling there was someone here. At last. After 40 years. I heard the sound of footsteps, and flipped my hair back. Her voice died down. Her presence skittered away, flinching from this familiar aura. Wimp.

"Chaos. Long time no see." I said.

"Did you miss me, gem? That's your fault." His smooth voice almost made me flinch. Keyword, almost. I am an assassin, image meant everything to me.

As for why, well, it reminded me too much of Luke. The same kind he would use when we were accused of something and had to deal with it smoothly. He always knows what to say.

"I had to come. Although I see you still have it." He narrowed his eyes at kálaïslinos, a flush rising to his neck. "Of course. It's a precious gift after all." I don't know why he is so peculiar about it. Angry that I somehow bested him and he didn't realize until centuries later? Possibly. I wasn't going to apologize though. It's mine. It symbolizes my powers, and it reminds me of the past. Luke. Everything we ever shared. It made me feel closer after what happened. That woman...

It didn't matter, even if I wanted to punch her to next millennium. I would die trying though, I wasn't strong enough. Yet. The thought made me burn with rage. I hated being weak. Weakness was for those who wanted to fail. I don't accept failure.

"What do you need, Chaos?" I asked stiffly.

Just like before, he smiled. "An offer."

"What is it? I'm busy." I was going to force it out of him even if it was the last thing I did. I wasn't going to outrightly accept though. Where's the fun in that?

"I can tell. That's why you didn't try to leave and you didn't try to convince me you're not Seirína."

"You've met me once only. It was enough. Now hurry up."

"Join my army, Seirína." Internally, I grinned. Fell right into my trap. Oh, Chaos, how can you be so wise yet so naive at the same time?

"Hilarious. Now tell me what you really want."

"I know something's off, Seirína." He said gently and sympathetically. "A heartbreak. Someone left you. Willingly or not, I'm not sure. But I can tell."

"How nice." I bit back sarcastically. How dare he try to manipulate me? I am the manipulator here, not him. Chaos will learn it, whether now or later. I can wait.

"I can help you, like how you can help me."

"I have no love to be a commander." Actually I did, but I also didn't. Where was the time laid out to lead others? Nowhere.

"I do not need you as a commander. I have one already for all planets and they all work wonderfully." Was that in my favor or not?

"So?"

"Just as part-time kind of work. It will be well, for us to have an alliance. Besides, you need a home."

"I do have a home."

"A building you spend your time devising who to kill next with absolutely nothing else isn't a home." No. That wasn't true. I spend my time devising who to kill, yes, but the memories there were what made it my home no matter what and I would rather die than let anyone else call it their home. If you haven't realized, I am quite possessive over what I call mine. But he didn't have to know. "It is hardly of your concern."

"It may not be. But I can help you."

"Help with what, Chaos?" I asked, leaning against the wall I just created. "Help me get another broken heart after you use me and dump me? Help me ruin myself so much that I want death?" I don't want death, to make it clear. I was over that stage. Currently. But let him think what he wants.

"None of that." He assured me. Though I noticed his flinch. "Help you get a new family."

"A family." I mused. "It's hilarious how you think you know so much about me. I have no love to spare for a family. I only had enough for one man. And it will stay like this."

"You are immortal, Seirína." Chaos said. "Whoever this man is, you can't long for him for all eternity."

"This man will return to me one day." I retorted sharply. Say all he will, I forbid him from insinuating anything about Luke. "But I accept your offer."

"My what?" Chaos blinked and took a step back. Unsure of this. I smirked. "Didn't you offer me a place in your army? Or did I misread that?"

"You didn't. But you just said-"

"I know what I said, Chaos. After all, they came from me. Being in your army shall benefit both of us. But I do have some conditions." He hasn't trusted me yet. Good. It'll be less painful when he realizes I will never trust him.

"Such as?"

"No one shall ask about my identity. No one will guess my identity. No one will force me to identify myself. I get to keep my job. And I have the right to keep myself isolated."

"I hardly find them appealing. It will not help the trust between you and my army." Chaos informs me, frowning. "Then it is a good thing I'm not joining for friends."

"Then why are you joining?"

"All in due time."

"You know I can just refuse."

"If you wanted to refuse, you wouldn't have sought me out after what happened 40 years ago." I said, not missing a beat.

"Fine. I accept."

"Excellent. I shall meet you back on planet Chaon." I pushed off the wall, gave him a two-finger salute, and the wall of earth crashed down on me.

Time skip

My things were packed up quickly. Everything barely took a minute because I had planned for this. Planned for Chaos to invite me into his army. I only wished Luke was with me. I shook my head, hard. No. I mentally chided myself. Luke is fulfilling his duties. Like what you are doing now.

It's been my mantra for the past 40 years. Hasn't really helped. I locked up our home. Maybe I'll return. One day. Until then, I'll let it take care of itself.

I vapour traveled to planet Chaos, where Chaos was briefing his commanders about me. I just rose the earth to make a chair for me and settled in nicely, waiting for them to notice me.

It was only after Chaos finished speaking did the commander speak up. They were all wearing different coloured cloaks, to represent their planets. The only way to know they were commanders was because of the golden lining and badges of achievement pinned on their cloaks.

The one who spoke, most likely a male due to his voice, was from Earth. I recognized the healthy green color anywhere. The color of nature. Of life. It was dull, to camouflage if needed, but it wasn't hard to guess.

"Chaos. We have a visitor." He sounded familiar, not that I cared. I've heard everyone's voices at least once thanks to my ability to hear anyone near water. Or their thoughts.

"Seirína." He rose from his seat and came forward to greet me. I stood up and bowed formally. I wasn't Percy Jackson, the idiot who couldn't be polite to save her life. No, that girl died, and I was here to make sure she doesn't come back.

"Chaos." I heard a low hum coming from my left. Someone wasn't happy I didn't greet him using his formal title.

"I've told the army of your conditions. They accepted it."

"Of course."

"Meet my commanders."

They all waved their hands casually. Like they could trust me. As if. Trust wasn't something given carelessly, I learned that the hard way.

"Oh?"

"Yes. This is Rylia of Mercury." The commander in a slate gray cloak slipped off her hood to reveal a young girl, nearing her teenage years. Her warm hazel eyes were much wiser than her physical look. And she didn't trust me. Her eyes were narrowed at me slightly, no one would have noticed. I gave a nod of acknowledgment. I could work with her. She sneered, propping her elbow on her left armrest and resting her cheek on it, crossing her legs together.

"And Aiden of Venus." The commander in a pearl white cloak took off his cloak to reveal a young, handsome boy. His hair was the first to be revealed, as blonde as my Luke's. His eyes, however, were of Annabeth's. It made me bitter yet I tried to shove it away. It wasn't Aiden's fault. Besides, the eyes were more silverish than grey. He had kicked his legs on one of the armrests, resting his head on the other one.

"Jason Grace of Earth." I almost let a growl slip past. It wouldn't do well to growl at a commander. Especially my commander. At least I didn't lead anymore. It made sense though. From Earth, I knew there would be demigods, especially deceased, which was why I had been reluctant to join at first. And what better than a son of Jupiter who already had experience leading an army? He nodded at me in greeting. No recognition. Sadness closed in on me, but I brushed it off.

"Cosette of Mars." Her dusky red cloak reminded me of Clarisse. So did her no-nonsense eyes. Her smile was like plastic. Fake. She pulled out one of the many daggers on her belt, studying it as I moved to the next commander.

"Raina, of Jupiter." A sweet-looking girl was revealed from the night starry cloak, her lips pouty, begging for attention. Her sky blue eyes were wide and innocent like. I would mistake her for a child. But appearances didn't matter. She waved energetically, blowing me a kiss. So cute.

"Tyler of Neptune." This dark-skinned, blue-eyed man stared at me. Unlike others, he was the picture of a warrior. His muscles bulged. A sword was clipped to his belt. He was covered in green and blue armour, with Neptunish words imbued on it. His eyes made it seem like he was trying to unlock all my secrets. But I had too many. He seemed surprised he couldn't enter my mind. I knew because I felt his presence. A telepathic. It was dangerous. For me and Luke.

"Roth of Saturn." If Tyler was like a warrior, Roth could be what all men hoped to be. His green eyes were ethereal, like two gems just fitted in. The beauty of it was alluring. His features were finely shaped, like someone had carefully sculpted them to be of a god. Brown, unkempt hair tumbled down in locks, they could make a girl insane. I merely snorted, unimpressed.

"Victoria of Uranus." How cute. I almost laughed. Her legs swung restlessly, kicking against her throne made of tenikayite. Her bright orange eyes sparkled mysteriously. She stared at me like we were long-lost friends. And for some reason, she mouthed "I know" at me. Know what? And why did she look somewhat familiar? Maybe a victim or something from my job. I've met plenty.

"How fascinating. All eight of your commanders."

Chaos frowned at my blatant lack of interest. "They will also be your commanders."

"Hopefully they have a high patience level then."

"You underestimate us." Cosette said smoothly.

I concealed a smirk. No, I don't underestimate people. I learned my lesson a long time ago. "I am an assassin, child from Mars. I do not underestimate people."

"Do not call me that." Her right eye ticked.

"What would you like me to call you then? Child of Minister Orillia? Fireborn? Leader of Mars sector?" I asked with faux politeness.

"Cosette is fine." Cosette said, smoothing her frizzy hair.

"Very well, love of-"

"Be silent!" Cosette burst out, her cheeks turning red. As did Tyler. Though he was harder to know because of his dark skin. It was a guess. But a really good guess. The other commanders shared looks between them, all not believing I had guessed that. Some almost laugh because of Cosette's 'mysterious' lover.

"Seirína." Chaos gently chides. "Whatever." I snorted, crossing my arms. "I'm just gonna go. This was a waste of time. Where's the Earth sector's wing?"

Jason looked less than happy that I was in his sector, not that I'm any happier.

"Jason can take you. You two should get to know each other."

"I do not need to know about the son of Jupiter."

"You mean earth." Raina said, twirling her blonde locks.

"Pretty sure I mean Jupiter."

The commanders looked at Jason oddly. "The god, Jupiter?"

"Ooh!" They all said. Jason frowned uncomfortably. "C'mon, assassin."

"Do not call me that, brother of Thalia Grace."

I gracefully dodged a dagger he threw at me. Did I really got on his nerve this quickly? How fun, really. Jason never really lost his temper when he was alive. Not as quickly as now. Although he doesn't know that Seirína is his precious cousin. "Never call me that."

"Unhappy with your sister, child of Beryl Grace. I had someone like her once. I also hated her in the end." More like exactly like her.

"I do not hate Thalia." He said, impossibly soft. "But I do not like how you throw the names like they have no importance."

"She is born of a broken oath, yes? For that, I find her of no importance."

Jason gritted his teeth. "And so was I. Now I'm the commander of the Earth sector."

I paused. "Is that supposed to make you important?"

Jason looked tempted to tear his hair out. But he must've noticed our audience for he said, "We shall continue this conversation one day. For now, let's go." I loved how I antagonized him. I do not hate him, for he died, but I do know there's a high possibility he will betray me like how his sister, best friend, and girlfriend did.

Jason came forward and we left. It was awkward, to say the least.

I strode confidently whilst he walked familiarly through these halls. We had no conversations. But he did glance at me often.

"You know it's rude to stare, tight?"

"And you know that it's bad manners to insult your commander's sister."

"Sister... I had a sister once."

"What happened to her?"

"I haven't seen her for 582 years." Jason almost looked sorry he asked. "Why so long?"

"She's on Earth, Jason. We have communicated mentally many times, but the last time we saw each other was 582 years ago. When she gave me her blessings to leave Earth."

Artemis, his half-sister. Ironic. That reminds me, I should talk to her again. It's been three days.

"How's Space back then?"

"It was unexpected, but I am quite glad I made the decision. After all, look where I'm now."

"Being an assassin must be lonely."

"I chose this life. No life can be perfect. It has its disadvantages. But do not mistake loneliness as one of them."

We said nothing other than that.

I lay on the super soft bed, gazing up at the ceiling. My tour was done. I had nothing left to do. I should go for an assassination... but I couldn't. Not now.

My eyes closed instinctively after making sure my door was locked. After so long, it's instinct. She rubbed it into me, I suppose.

After so many times, my mental self knew where to search.

Artemis. I've missed you.

I was wondering when you would show up. You caught me at the right time. The girls are having a break.

Any problems I need to clear?

You need a break, Aella. I sensed rather than saw her frown. Your body can't take this. I know you miss Luke-

You don't know how much. I interrupted her. Cruel maybe, but I didn't want to talk about it. Not right now.

But I do. Remember, once upon a time, I fell in love. Just like you, I fell in love with my enemy. And he died. Just like Luke, he left me. Just because he was evil, didn't make the loss any easier.

At least you had a choice.

It wasn't much of a choice.

Still. And why are we talking about this?

I'm not sure. That's Artemis, guys. Brutal honesty, never hiding anything. Unless it's not her secret to tell. Then she becomes the best secret-keeper. Nothing can break through with her.

Whatever. Anyways, I found Chaos.

Your plan worries me, Aella.

It hurts me. But it is important.

It is important. Artemis agrees. Yet some part of me wishes you had never found Lochan. At least, you would've been happier.

Happier but ignorant.

Is that not what happiness means? She had me there.

I don't know anymore. I quickly gave her the report as usual, telling her to prepare. War will be coming. And our sacrifice cannot hold it back forever.

I agree. Artemis thought grimly. It will be hard to convince my father of such a matter.

That's why I ask you to prepare your hunters.

It didn't take much for Artemis to agree. After all, her hunters were her sisters. I'm in the Earth sector, Artemis, just to let you know.

The commander?

No. Jason's the commander.

Jason... As in Jason Grace? We both had the same trail of thoughts, and I could feel her hope swelling.

I'll tell you more, Artemis. I promised her.

Very well then, inform me as soon as you hear any news.

Of course. I replied. She's been my only companion all these years, I would do anything to give back all she's done for me.

Hear from you soon.

Bye.

Night fell soon, and I was all alone. This was the time I would go see Luke... but these days, he was too busy for me. We were drifting apart, the sacrifice we had to make to win this war. I couldn't bear it. The feeling of dragging him away to the void and hiding out till it was all over was so tempting. But I wasn't selfish. I couldn't be selfish. And yet I wanted to be. After all, he's all I had left. And he can die. He can die, and I might never see him again. He was in a worse spot than Artemis. And I hated it. I hated him for taking it. And I hated myself for not stopping him.

Jason POV

After Seirína was taken to her room to retire, Chaos called me back to the throne room. The others were already there. "How's our newest recruit?" He asked.

"Settling nicely. Although I can't say for sure. People don't call her the assassin for no reason." If Chaos hadn't told us beforehand, I wouldn't even have known she was Seirína. After all, she was a twelve-year-old girl with pigtails dressed in pink. The only thing mysterious about her was her orange eyes. I've never seen anyone with orange eyes. Purple, blue, green, kaleidoscope. Never orange. Maybe because orange is similar to hazel?

This was like Raina when we first met her. Cute, shy and innocent. My advice to you is to not challenge her to an arm wrestle.

Seirína was scary. Her looks were so cheery, it was scary imagining her killing someone with that smile. What's even creepier, was the lack of humanity in her. I should know, I'm half human. Seirína throws that out of the window. There was a… detachment. She answered crudely, she barely reacted when I lost control and threw a knife at her. (I was still feeling remorse for that)

"Take care of her, Jason." Chaos said, his eyes showing unexplainable sadness. "You sound like you care for her." Cosette noted. "I know that she's suffering."

"She's an assassin, Chaos!" Rylia threw her hands up. "I thought you were kidding when you told us she's joining! Everyone knows assassins can't be trusted. Especially Seirína. Out of all the killed villains, she's responsible for 74%!"

"I know, Rye," Chas said gently. When facing Rylia, it was hard to gain her trust. Not after she almost died at the hands of her sister, the girl she trusted most. "Seirína told me something," I recalled. "Oh?" Chaos was stunned.

"Don't believe in what she said. For Chaos's sake, she's evil!" Rylia kicked the air, scowling.

"She knew Thalia," I said. "Well enough to know our mother's name and our surname. Thalia hates that name. Only Annabeth, Luke, me, and Percy knew it. And Chiron. But it has been 500 years."

"She could've easily been thinking of killing Thalia! She's a freaking assassin!" Rylia growled. Raina held Rylia's hand, patting it soothingly. Cosette was sharpening her sword, not bothering to listen to a conversation that did not require her. Tyler was softly chatting with Aiden. And Victoria and Roth were... in a corner.

"Enough, Rye." Chaos sighed, rubbing his forehead. "She told me that she had a reason for joining this army. And unless we find that it will compromise the soldiers' safety, we will not act out." Rylia growled in anger. But, sensing she couldn't win this conversation, she bowed stiffly at Chaos and strode away to Mercury's wing.

"She'll get over it." Chaos sighed, settling back on his throne.

I followed in suit, sitting on my throne. I like it, of course, it was designed to suit my tastes. Yet I didn't like having the higher ground. I preferred to be on the ground. With my friends. "I don't get it, Chaos. What's so important about her?"

He smiled mysteriously. "The Fates."

"They can be wrong, you know." Doubtfully.

"Not for this."

I felt like tearing my hair out. "Why can't you stop being vague for once?"

"Because it's not time yet."

"Then when is time?"

"You'll know."

I groaned. "Fine. Whatever. Anything to know about?"

"She's heartbroken." This piece of information caught me unexpectedly. "Say what now?!"

Chaos glanced wearily at the door Rylia had stormed out of. "I know a broken person when I see one. Seirína is heartbroken. And I'm not talking boyfriend whatsoever. I'm talking about many people. They shattered her so badly, she doesn't even know that she's broken."

"I don't think it's possible."

"It is, Jason. When a person is broken, has nothing left, what is their first instinct?"

"To die?" Sad to say, but I've seen some of their people before. Some I knew, some even asked me to help them kill them.

"Yes. And yet Seirína's first instinct is to inflict pain on others, even able to laugh at their misery. She's broken, and she wants everyone else to feel the same she did. But something isn't right. She healed a little, I can tell you that, by this man she mentioned. He did an amazing job, and I think he might have succeeded if he continued. Yet he's left her, and she's grasping on to the hope that he will return. She isn't insane, Jason. She uses her mind. She isn't a villain, nor a hero. She's broken. And I want this army to help her heal before she goes over the edge." Such a dramatic way of saying it.

"And you think what? That we can help her?"

He inclined his head. "Yes."

"And what if we can't, Chaos? What if she's truly unreachable?"

"Then we might as well prepare our wills. The Fates have foreseen great things for her, a big decision. And if we don't guide her correctly, she will destroy the world we know." I changed my mind. That is so much more dramatic. But it worked. It scared me, sent chills to my bones. Who is Seirína?
