Chapter 2: Beginning of a New Life
Disclaimer: I DO NOT OWN POKEMON
Here's to the second chapter of my new story, hope you all liked the first chapter and the start of this new story.
Otherwise enjoy!
In a peaceful town within an unknown region, a man with green eyes and black hair wearing a luxurious business outfit which consists of a white business shirt with a red tie, overlapped by a second grey business shirt and lastly with a grey vest, with a pair of matching grey long pants, while having a golden watch on his left hand was down the road of the peaceful town, but as he passed by a water stream that was within the small settlement, he could see Ash who was unconscious floating by the edge of the stream with his hand on a root of a tree, which prevented him from going down the stream any further.
"Young man, are you alright!" The man called out, receiving no response from Ash.
He quickly yet carefully got to the edge of the river as he carried the drenched young man to shore, before looking at his condition, and by the looks of how Ash looked, the young man was indeed out cold, with his body burning with a fever as he fished out his phone to dial a certain number.
"What is it Chairman Rose?" The voice asked, as Rose cleared his throat.
"I need you to come to Postwick with a doctor fast, I found a young man who was unconscious by the river." He answered, as the voice give an affirmation sound.
"I got it chairman, I'll be there soon." Those were the words the voice said, as it cut off.
Rose soon carried Ash on his back as he carefully got up back to the road before making his way to a house that was atop a small hill, bringing the unconscious yet feverish Ash into the house, in order to cure his illness.
An unknown time has passed since Rose found Ash who was lying on a bed was still unconscious, with his wet clothes were changed into a green casual shirt and white long pants, with the Chairman sitting next to him, with his hand on the bed and his head above his hands, while waiting for the unconscious Trainer to awaken from his deep slumber.
"Chairman Rose, this boy hasn't shown any sign of waking up, and it's already been three weeks." This made Rose turn around to the source of the impatient voice.
Behind him was a woman with peach long hair and green eyes, wearing a stoic expression as well as a red dress and black skirt with a pair of black stockings reaching up to her waist, as well as having a white cloak around her dress, as the woman stood there already getting quite impatient at the non-awakening Trainer.
"Oleana, please, wait just a little longer, I'm sure this young man will wake up soon." Rose told Oleana, who sighed.
"You keep saying that Mr. Rose, but this Trainer just keeps sleeping. If you don't return soon, Chairman Rose, the company will be in a predicament." Oleana retorted, already getting quite irritated.
"I know my work is important, Oleana, but so is a person's life, we couldn't have just left him in the open sea." Rose reasoned.
All the while Rose and Oleana were having a short and non-aggressive argument about their next course of action with one another, Ash started to move his fingers catching Oleana's attention and upon noticing her expression, Rose too turned around to see Ash slowly flickering his eyes open, as he slowly got up from his lying position, while clutching his head with his hand, already feeling the aftermath of the impact he had.
"You're finally awake, young man! What did I tell you, Oleana, he'll wake up soon." Rose exclaimed .
Oleana sighed knowing that she did technically got impatient when Ash wasn't showing any signs of waking up for the last two weeks, as the Kanto native turned his head left and right, obviously not knowing where he was at the moment.
"W-where a-am I?" He asked.
"You're in Postwick, a small peaceful village in the Galar Region." Rose answered, making Ash turn his head.
It is obvious from Ash's face to Rose that he didn't know where Postwick was much less Galar, as the man looked at the young man in front of him before smiling warmly at him.
"My name is Rose, I am the chairman of the Galar Region." Rose introduced himself, as he cleared his throat.
"So, what's your name, young man?" He asked, only for Ash to stare at him.
The Trainer then tried his hardest to think of something, but couldn't as his head started to once again hurt when he tried to remember who he was, but when the pain finally subsided, Ash tilted his head as his brain could not think of anything at all, before shaking his head at Rose.
"I'm sorry, I don't remember." This evidently shocked Rose and Oleana, as they recoil and jump in shock at his answer.
"You don't remember, are you sure, young man?" Rose pressed on, as Ash shook his head.
"No, I really don't remember, I just really don't." The Kanto native responded.
Rose and Oleana looked at each other as the amnesiac Ash continued to hold his head in his hand, with the pain travelling back to his brain each time he tried to think of who he was or where he came for, but every time he tried to, the pain would just resurface making him give up of trying to think who he was much less what happened to him.
"Does he have amnesia?" Oleana asked, as Rose was in thoughts.
"It's truly a tragic thing, this poor young man." Rose responded.
The two of them were in thoughts as Ash blankly stared at the two of them, not knowing what they are up to or what they were thinking, as Rose looked at the amnesiac Trainer.
"If you don't mind me asking, young man, what is the last thing you remember?" Rose questioned, hoping to at least get a different answer.
"The... last thing...? The only thing I know is... me waking up here... and you two being here..." He mumbled.
Ash's answer made both Rose and Oleana fall silent as they looked at each other for a few minutes, that was until Rose had an idea that would hopefully benefit the amnesiac Ash.
"How about we give you a name, young man?" He suggested, making Ash tilt his head.
"Give... me... a... name?" He quoted out slowly, as Rose nodded
"That's right, at least that way we have something to call you by, what do you think?" He explained, hoping that Ash would take up his idea.
This brought Ash into thinking mode, because it would be better for him to at least have a name of recognition since he didn't even remember who he was in the first place, and the name that Rose gave him could be a placeholder until he remember who he was, as Ash looked up at the chairman of Galar.
"Do you mean you'll give me a name, until I figure out my own name?" Ash asked, as Rose nodded.
"That works too, how about it? We'll give you a name, until you remember your own name?" Rose offered, making Ash nod his head with a smile.
"Alright, please do Mr. Rose." He accepted.
This brought Rose into thinking of what to name Ash, as many names ran through his head but was unable to pick one, that was until Oleana stepped forward looking at Rose with a small smile on her face as she had already thought of one.
"How about we name him Reil, Chairman Rose?" She asked, making Rose brighten up.
"Reil! That a great name, Oleana. What do you think you think, young man?" Rose exclaimed loudly, only for Ash to smile at the name "Reil".
"Reil... I like it!" He responded, while having a huge smile on his face.
Rose was most delighted at hearing Ash say those words as he clasped his hand together in joy.
"Wonderful! Then Reil shall be your name." He told the newly named Ash.
After finally deciding on Ash's new name, Rose turned around to face Oleana who nodded as the woman went out of the house, as Rose turn his head to face the amnesiac Ash, who was just newly named.
"Reil, do you happen to know what a Pokémon is?" He questioned, making Ash tilt his head.
"Pokémon? What's that?" He responded.
Rose smiled as he took out a Poke Ball before opening it to reveal a large elephant-like Pokémon that seems to be made of steel, as the unknown Pokémon gave out a loud cry after being let out, with Rose turning his head to Ash.
"This is my Pokémon, Copperajah, and my most trusted companion." He told the amnesiac Trainer.
"Pokémon's are mysterious creature that roams this land with us, Reil. Some of us lives with Pokémon and some of us battles alongside them, there are even some that cooperates with Pokémon to do an everyday task like farming or constructing." Rose explained, while walking around his Copperajah.
"So, what do you think of it if I give you one of your very own Pokémon, Reil?" Rose suggested.
Ash still wasn't sure if having a Pokémon was a good thing, but somehow liked the idea of having a Pokémon of his own as he nodded his head at Rose's idea.
"If that's fine with you, Mr. Rose." Ash responded.
At that exact same time, Oleana returned with a briefcase in her hand, as she walked over to Rose before presenting the briefcase before him.
"Here they are, Chairman Rose, the three Pokémon you plan to give out." She told him.
"Alright, then let's get ready, Oleana." Rose told her.
Upon opening the briefcase, Ash could see three red and white balls within the briefcase as Rose picked up one of the ball before enlarging it in his hand before throwing it into the air to call out a small elephant-like Pokémon that slightly resembled his Copperajah, as the small orange elephant ran in a circle before stopping of its presumed evolution form.
"This is Cufant, the Copperdum Pokémon, a Steel Type." Rose introduced.
As Ash stared at the Copperdum Pokémon, Rose took out the second Poke Ball as he enlarged it before throwing it into the air to call out a white and black badger-like raccoon Pokémon, as the mysterious Pokémon ran around Cufant in circle before stopping beside the small Steel Type elephant.
"Secondly, we have Zigzagoon, the Tiny Raccoon Pokémon, a Dark and Normal Type." Rose introduced.
After Zigzagoon was introduced, Ash turned his attention to the Tiny Raccoon Pokémon, meanwhile Rose took out a third Poke Ball before enlarging it in his hand as he threw it into the sky, to call out a small humanoid Pokémon wearing an oversized white dress with a green cap on its head, as the last arrival looked at the amnesiac Trainer.
"Lastly, we have Ralts, the Feeling Pokémon, a Psychic and Fairy Type." Rose introduced.
While their introduction was made, Rose clapped his hands twice as both Cufant and Zigzagoon ran into position, only for Ralts to teleport in between them, forcing Zigzagoon to stop running as it turn itself to face Ash's direction, as Rose looked at the young man in front of him.
"So, Reil, between this three Pokémon, who would you like as your Starter Pokémon?" He asked.
Ash then kneeled down to their height but despite already taking a look at Cufant and Zigzagoon, Ash didn't really feel too attached to them as he fixed his gaze at Ralts who stared back at him with Ash smiling warmly, before turning his head to Rose who was waiting for Ash to make his Pokémon of choice.
"I'll pick Ralts, Mr. Rose." Ash voiced his decision.
"That's a wonderful choice, Reil. I'm sure you and Ralts will be a great pair in the future." Rose exclaimed.
The amnesiac Trainer then picked Ralts up from the ground as he patted the small Pokémon on the head making Ralts laugh as Rose handed two things to Ash in order for him to start his adventure in Galar, as he turn his head to stare at Rose's hand one which contains a Poke Ball and the other contains a green and white phone-like object as well as five other Poke Balls.
"This is Ralts' Poke Ball and a Rotom Phone as well as five Poke Balls, you're going to need in your adventure, Reil." Rose told him.
"It's only my predictions, but I think you'll be a great Trainer, Reil." Rose added, as Ash took the items off his hands, before looking at him.
"You really think so, Mr. Rose? Even though I've never seen a Pokémon before?" This made Rose nod his head, making Ash smile.
Ash didn't know why, but he was overjoyed to hear Rose say those words as he looked at the chairman of Galar with eyes filled with determination and confidence.
"I'll try my best to not let your expectations of me go to waste, Mr. Rose!" Ash exclaimed making Rose laugh.
"I'm sure you won't, Reil. I'll do everything in my resources and power, to make sure to become a great Trainer." Rose told him.
After finishing those words, Ash ran out of the door with Ralts by his side as he ran into the open streets of Postwick with his starter on his shoulder, while Rose and Oleana walked out of the door to see Ash run down the slope of Postwick.
"Do you think he'll really be a great Trainer, Chairman Rose? I mean he has amnesia and doesn't even remember who he really is." Oleana asked in worry, as Rose chuckled.
"Throughout 10 years of my life scouting for a Trainer since Leon, I've never failed to see a great Trainer when I meet one, Oleana. I'm sure Reil will become a great Trainer, no, he WILL be a great Trainer for all of Galar to see." Rose answered calmly.
Meanwhile in Pallet Town within the Kanto Region, Delia was still grieving over the apparent death of her son since the incident in Alola, she was extremely devastated when Brock and Misty brought the news of Ash's status to both Gary and herself, as Professor patted her back, trying to soothe Delia over the lost of her son.
"Delia, I'm sure Ash is fine, he has been through many ups and downs in his journey and never has any real trouble even if he did get into any." He told her, as Delia shook her head.
"But you heard what Brock and Misty said, Ash's body is nowhere to be found in the sea when he fell!" She cried out, as Professor Oak looked at her.
"Ash's body may not be in the water Delia, but please think, what if Ash's body was brought away by the current? What if his still out there looking for you or rather waiting for us to find him? There are many possibilities to that answer, Delia, I'm sure you know that." Professor Oak reasoned, as Delia looked at him.
"Ash may longer be in the ocean of Alola, but if we join hands with the other six regions, I'm sure we will find him one of this days. So, if we just keep believing, Delia, I'm sure you'll meet Ash again." He finished.
Delia decides to wipe her tears off her face as she looked partially recovered from her grief from Professor Oak's words of wisdom, as the Kanto Professor got onto his feet as he turn to the door, before looking at Delia.
"I'll get in touch with the rest of the Professors to see if they can help us find us, I'm sure that everyone will be glad to help, in the meantime, bring my deduction to the rest." Professor Oak told her.
"I will, thank you for your words, Professor." This made Professor Oak smile at her as he walked out of the door.
After having a newfound goal in mind, Delia walked over to the phone to call Ash's friends about Professor Oak's deduction about Ash's presume whereabouts, meanwhile the Kanto Professor himself made his way to his laboratory in order to get in touch with the rest of the other six Professors to help them in their search to find Ash.
Back in Galar, Ash ran down to the edge of the hill before looking at the open field of Route 1 with Ralts on his head, as he looked at the group of Pokémon running around, there was a small round bird, a small bug with a oval body shape and much more, as he pulled out his Rotom Phone and aimed it at one of them, having learnt that his Rotom Phone can be used as a Pokedex through the manual inside of the device given to him by Rose.
"Rookidee, the Tiny Bird Pokémon, Flying Type. Rookidee is a very territorial Pokémon and will not hesitate to fight, even after losing, Rookidee can store the energy they gain from the fight to grow stronger, Rookidee also uses its powerful legs to prey on Grubbins." Ash's Rotom Phone explained.
"Rookidee, do you think you're ready, Ralts?" Ash asked, as the Feeling Pokémon nodded.
Ralts quickly leaped off Ash's head and onto the ground as it stared at the Tiny Bird Pokémon in front of it, only for Rookidee to notice their presence as it got itself ready for battle against the Feeling Pokémon, as Ash took out his Rotom Phone before aiming it at Ralts.
"Let's see, Teleport, Disarming Voice, Shadow Sneak and Psybeam." He mumbled.
While Ash was checking for what moves to use against the wild Rookidee, the Tiny Bird Pokémon immediately charged at Ralts with its peak glowing in a white light, as Ash lifted his head at the charging Pokémon.
"Teleport behind it, and use Disarming Voice!" Ash yelled in command, having a different feeling inside of him as he did.
Ralts vanished into thin air making Rookidee miss its attack as it once again took flight, only for Ralts to appear behind it before firing off a purple beam with yellow circles at its direction, hitting the Tiny Bird Pokémon in the body, as the Flying Type Pokémon fell from the sky, as Ash took out a Poke Ball from his pocket.
When he threw the ball at Rookidee, the Tiny Bird Pokémon was sucked into the device as it fell onto the ground before shaking once, twice, and finally a third time with a clicking sound, as Ralts brought back the captures Rookidee to Ash who took it from its hands.
"Yes, we did it, Ralts! Our first battle!" Ash cheered.
"That was remarkable, Reil, I'm quite impressed." Oleana's voice told him.
Ash turned around to see Oleana walking up to him, as Ash looked at her with eyes of wonder, not knowing why Oleana came out to see him.
"Miss Oleana, what are you doing here?" He asked, as she chuckled.
"The chairman requested me to pass this to you, he didn't get the chance to when you dashed out of the house." She told him, handing him two items.
As Ash looked at the items in her hand, one of them was a sealed letter with a symbol in the center, and the other that was on Oleana's hand was a green and red band, as Ash took the two items from her hand, while looking at them.
"The one on your left hand is an Endorsement Letter, the chairman has decided to let you take part in the Gym Challenge, while the other is a Dynamax Band, which you'll need in your journey." She told him, before stretching her hand into her bag.
"Oh, and this is a small gift from me, I'm sure it'll help you in your journey." She told him, handing him another item.
Ash took another glance to see that Oleana had handed him a book as Ash took it from her hands as he stared at the book, making Oleana chuckle at his reaction.
"That's an Adventurer Guide, it teaches you the basic of how to be a Trainer. If you're lost, just look it up, it'll save you a lot of time." She told him, as Ash kept the book, letter he had received into his bag.
"The chairman also told me to tell you to call him when you reach Wedgehurst which is down this route, and with this my job is done, be sure to call the chairman, Reil." Oleana told him, as Ash nodded
"Don't worry, Miss Oleana, I will." He responded.
As he slipped the Dynamax Band he got from Rose through Oleana onto his right wrist, Ash made a dash for Wedgehurst by running down the hill, scaring off whatever Pokémon got in his way, while Oleana watch the amnesiac Trainer disappear from sight, before leaving back to Postwick to report back to Rose.
Meanwhile in Professor Oak's laboratory, the elderly Professor was sitting in front of his computer with seven other faces on screen, as one of them started to look at the elderly Professor.
"Are you sure that your deductions are right, Samuel?" Professor Rowan asked, as Professor Oak nodded.
"I am very sure, Professor Rowan, that's the only reason I made this call because I need all of your help." He answered.
The six Professors were confused when Professor Oak called them urgently, but was more shocked to hear what has happened to Ash, which finally leads to the call they were currently having at this point of time.
"So, you're saying that Ash may not be in Alola's ocean, but has been brought to our region's ocean?" Professor Elm asked, as Professor Oak nodded.
"It is as I said, Professor Elm. Misty, a Water Type Trainer has already searched the depths of Alola's ocean, and we all know that even if Ash hasn't been brought away by the current, a Water Type Pokémon is bound to see him if he sinks into the depths of it." The Kanto Professor answered.
Hearing Professor Oak's words, the other six Professor's excluding Kukui were now thinking as Professor Oak looked at them with eyes of help.
'That's why I need your help to find him, I know it's too much of me to ask as a single person and it may get into your line of work, but please!" Professor Oak requested, as Professor Birch chuckled.
"There's no need for you to beg us, Professor Oak. We'll be glad to help, if not for Ash, I'm sure all our homes would be in grave danger, and I'm are everyone of us here feels the same." He responded.
"Professor Birch is right, Ash has been nothing but a great help to us and we could do nothing to repay him, and now this is the best opportunity to do so." Professor Juniper added.
Professor Oak happily nodded his head, as Professor Rowan cleared his throat before looking at the Professor of Kanto.
"Our research can still wait, but first the search for this young man comes first." He told everyone.
"I've already gotten more the enough data on Mega Evolution, so I'm sure leaving it aside for a year or two isn't going to hurt." Professor Sycamore said with a smile.
Professor Scycamore's and Professor Rowan's words brought more happiness to Professor Oak's face, as Professor Juniper clapped her hands twice to get everyone's attention towards her momentarily.
"Alright, the earlier we get started the earlier we'll get our results. We'll meet each other once a week, to see if anyone's got a hint, alright?" She told them, as they nodded.
Slowly one by one, the Professor of each region ended their call, as did Professor Oak with his own as he got up from his chair in order to search for the missing Trainer, by taking with him three Poke Balls on the way out to find Ash.
Back in Ash's house, Delia has did what Professor Oak has told her to do, as she was on a call with Ash's friend, safe for those who are busy, which only includes Brock, Misty, May, Dawn, Cilan, Serena, Mallow, Lana and Sophocles.
"Are you sure what Professor Oak say is true, Mrs. Ketchum?!" Brock exclaimed, as she nodded.
"I've known Professor Oak for a very long time, and his deductions are never wrong for as long as I remember." Delia explained, which got them thinking.
"If Ash got taken adrift by the current from Alola, that means Professor Oak must mean that Ash might be near one of us, right?" Serena questioned, making Delia nod her head.
"That's right, that's why we need everyone's help, anyone you know would be great if they're willing to lend a hand." Delia answered.
Her words made Misty and Brock feel a bit more relief, as everyone of them knows that the two of them had blamed themselves for Ash's apparent death ever since he fell into the ocean of Alola, and had since felt incapable of doing anything.
"I know a guy that's willing to lend a hand. Give me a moment." Dawn told them, before shifting one side to get the person.
The rest watch in confusion as Dawn disappeared from her screen leaving her chair completely empty except for the view of her room, and in just a few minutes Dawn ran back into her room before sitting on her chair, onto for Paul and his Electivire to walk in, as he made his way to the screen in clear view of the rest.
"I heard from Dawn, so, you all need help to look for Ash?" He questioned, as Brock's mouth was hanging open.
"Paul?! Since when were you there?" Brock exclaimed loudly, making Paul sigh.
"That's a story for another time, but answer my question first." He told the former Pewter City Gym Leader.
"That would be a great help, if you're willing to lend a hand." This made Paul nod his head, as he walked towards the door before facing Dawn.
"I'll get Barry and Nando to help with the search, you can continue to exchange information in the meantime." He told the blue hair Coordinator who nodded.
After exchanging information, one by one they ended their own call in order to gather more help, as Delia too ended her own end of the call, smiling to herself that her son had made such great friends that were going to stick by him to the end, even when his whereabouts are unknown.
"Ash, wherever you are, I just hope you're safe." She mumbled.
Back inside a train in Galar, Ash was sitting on a seat with Ralts and Rookidee on the table in front of him, with his phone floating in the air as he made a call to someone he knew and was told to make to.
"Mr. Rose, look, I already got myself a Rookidee!" Ash exclaimed, showing off his Tiny Bird Pokémon.
"Oh my, it hasn't even been that long and you've already gotten your second Pokémon? That impressive, Reil." Rose commented with a smile.
"Say, Mr. Rose. I heard from Miss Oleana that you want to endorse me into the Gym Challenge, what is the Gym Challenge?" Ash questioned, making Rose smile.
Rose showed a face of happiness as he leaned back against his chair, before looking at Ash who was still waiting for Rose to explain to him what the Gym Challenge was.
"The Gym Challenge, is a tradition we have in the Galar Region for a very long time. Each year, many Trainers will be endorsed to participate in the Gym Challenge as they challenge themselves to earn all eight badges and participate in the Champion Cup." Rose explained, while leaning forward.
"The Gym Challenge is also a challenge to see how far a Trainer's bond with their Pokémon will take them, in other words, its a huge roadblock for every Trainer who participates in the Gym Challenge be it me in the past or you in the present." He finished.
Ash was getting more and more excited after hearing Rose explain about the Gym Challenge as the chairman of Galar looked at the young man, before smiling warmly at him from where he was sitting.
"So, Reil. I would like you to participate in the Gym Challenge, and show everyone how great of Trainer you can be." Rose told him, making Ash nod his head.
"I'll do my best, Mr. Rose. I'll not only show then how great of a Trainer I am, I'll show them that your faith in me isn't a waste and show them how great your eyes for Trainers can be!" Ash yelled in determination, as Rose laughed happily.
"I'm happy to hear you say those words, Reil, I really do." Rose responded, before leaning back onto his chair.
"In order to register for the Gym Challenge, Reil, you'll first need to go to the stadium in Motostoke." Rose explained, with Ash nodding his head.
As the call ended between them, Ash's Rotom Phone fell onto his hand as Ash started to tickle Rookidee's chin, making the Flying Type bird coo at the feeling of his touch, as Ralts stared at the two of them.
"No fair, I want in too!" A male voice yelled.
"Who's talking?" Ash asked, while looking left and right.
"Beside you, I want in too!" The voice screamed.
Ash turn his attention to the word of "beside you" to see Ralts jumping up and down with its hand in the sky, making Ash look at the Feeling Pokémon with eyes of shock.
"Ralts, you can talk?!" Ash yelled, as Ralts snickered.
"That's right, and I'm the only one who can talk!" It told him.
Ash smiled as he used his other hand to pat Ralts head making the Feeling Pokémon hum happily at the feeling, as Ash soon looked out the window with two Pokémon, wondering what kind of adventure awaited them during the Gym Challenge.
The second chapter is done! Ash is alive, but has lost his memories of who he was and is now participating in the Gym Challenge! His friends has also set out to find him, with many help along the way!
A/N: As I said in the first chapter of this story, it doesn't contain any betrayal kind of thing as those things could be too old already, so I tried something more fresher to myself and hopefully to all of you all.
Otherwise,
PEACE!
