Dragon thinking
"Dragon speaking"
X765
We ruled the skies and all of Earthland.
Everything we ever wanted or needed was right there for us to take.
Until that damn dragon slayer lost his freakin' mind, turned into a dragon and decided that genocide was a great alternative.
Acnologia, you are a prick.
Zirconis, a massive green scaled, hulking beast of a dragon even by his fellow dragons' standards, recounts the days of old atop his mountain. The old jade dragon can't help but feel vengeful towards the dragon with pitch black scales and beady, pure white eyes that just seemed to stare into his soul. For the last few hundred years, Zirconis has not done anything (at least in his mind) warranting attention from any humans. Not going out of his way to destroy one or two villages left him with nothing but time on his claws.
Now, I just sit on this damn mountain sleeping or eating. However, it beats being dead. Maybe I can raise my OWN dragon slayer and take revenge on that beady eyed asshole-
Zirconis is brought out of his stupor at the sound of his massive stomach grumbling. Standing up and stretching out his massive wingspan, he looks over the countryside for a moment before launching himself into the air and taking flight. If one were on the ground, they would assume that it's nighttime under the shadow cast by Zirconis.
Well this spot looks fine, plenty of deer around - wait a minute.
Landing in a nearby clearing, Zirconis notices a sound that is most definitely not native to the animals around. It almost sounded like…crying? Yes, it was absolutely the sound of someone crying. Narrowing his eyes, Zirconis peers around the clearing for anything out of the ordinary until he spots it. To him, it looked like a bright white dot in a sea of grass upon closer inspection, it was a child wrapped in a bundle of white blankets. A small, extremely loud child with emerald green hair was laying there completely helpless.
The hell is a kid doing all the way out here? There isn't even a village close by. Just what are you doing here child?
Zirconis forgets about his hunger as he stares down at the child before him. Recalling his thoughts from earlier, he grows a devilish smirk on his large scale covered mouth and lets out a loud chuckle.
Yes child, you'll do just fine. Hahahaha oh how fortune favors the jade dragon. You'll be my dragon slayer…Zahar.
The newly named Zahar, stops his crying for a moment to see a large pair of green eyes staring right back at him. Zirconis looks into the bright purple irises of his new 'son' and can't keep himself from chuckling at his plans for this boy. Unbeknownst to him however Zahar will be the one thing in his very long life to change his world.
July 7th, X777
For twelve years now, Zirconis has raised Zahar as his own child. Zirconis took to the position fairly well. With his boisterous attitude and a curious child like Zahar who was always willing to listen to the tales of his father. Everyday they trained together, Zirconis was not one who 'half-assed' a task. Zirconis stayed true to his original goal. He trained Zahar day in and day out to make, in his mind, the perfect dragon slayer.
"Jade dragon's!"
"My my Zahar, ballsy today are we?"
"ROAR!" Releasing all of the magic energy built up in his cheeks and lungs, Zahar let out a cyclone of green, almost caustic energy that hurled at inhuman speeds towards his giant jade father. With a lazy swipe of one of his wings, Zirconis dispels his son's attack like a fly all while unintentionally sending Zahar flying.
"What the hell jiji?! You almost killed me, you giant green asshole!"
"What did you just call me, you little brat?!"
"A giant green asshole! I mean seriously, you WANTED me to do that and in return you almost launched me off the damn mountain!"
Zirconis let out a hearty dragon laugh at the look on his son's face. His wild, shoulder length green hair moved frantically with each exaggerated movement he made. He would never admit it to anyone, but he was extremely proud of his son. For twelve years he's seen this boy grow into a young man with dreams, ideals, and tasks of his own that differ from Zirconis. As with any father, he was proud to see the man Zahar would be in the future. However he would not make it to see those days, and he knew it too. Today was the day he would have to leave his son. Stopping his booming laughter, Zirconis takes on a serious expression and looks into the vibrant purple eyes of his flustered son.
"Zahar."
Noticing the serious look on his fathers large scaly face he grows worried and answers as such.
"W-what is it jiji?"
"I have a job for you."
"A job? Are you going senile jiji?"
"Brat, this is important. I need you to go into the human village at the base of our mountain for the day."
"Huh? What are you talking about?"
"Will you shut up and listen!" Zirconis drags one of his clawed hands down his face in exasperation at his rowdy son. "You can't stay on this mountain forever so you need to get used to human culture."
"But jiji! You never once let me go down to the human village, why now?"
"I have to take care of some things here Zahar. Things that really don't involve you."
Zahar is momentarily taken aback by his father's intentions. Zirconis-jiji NEVER sent him down to the human village for anything. They always hunted for their food and getting water was easy enough, so why the hell did Zahar get such a terrible and foreboding feeling from his father.
"Jiji, whats going on? C'mon you can tell me."
"As I said, my task does not involve you. Now go grab your things and I EXPECT you to come back before sundown. Am I clear Zahar?"
"But jiji-"
"No arguments zahar, just go grab your pack and head down."
Grumbling to himself, Zirconis can hear the grumblings of his son and him calling him a 'stupid overgrown lizard.' to think, a human talking to a mighty dragon like this would surely result in the boy being either burned to a crisp on the spot, eaten in one fell swoop, or launched into the sky with a wave of one of his wings. But none of these events happened with Zirconis, intentionally.
He cared for the little runt he found in the woods all those years ago, taught him basic human values and even some dragon ones. The child surprised him multiple times throughout his years. Every time he mentioned his hatred for humans, Zahar just called him a 'stupid lizard' and vehemently defended the humans. Zirconis had never been more pissed than when he first heard the insult the boy threw at him, and proceeded to destroy a massive portion of the forest nearby in pure fury. He always had this look in his eyes. Those hypnotic bright purple eyes that radiated an unwavering determination. No matter how many times Zirconis knocked him down in training, Zahar got right back up and fought even harder than before with the same look in his eyes. That boy was made to use magic and fight with everything he has. He raised a warrior like no other, the Jade Dragon Slayer.
Well boy, I never once thought i even had the capacity to care for a human let alone raise one as my own. I'm…sorry I won't see what you have in store for the future. You have heart and you're far stronger than you even realize. One needs that in order to face the challenges this world has to offer. I just hope what I have in mind won't kill you in the end.
Zirconis is brought out of his thoughts when he notices the green haired pre-teen with a backpack strewn across his back screaming up at him while waving his arms in annoyance.
"Well finally I got your attention. So I guess I'm leaving now?"
"Just be back before sundown, I mean it Zahar. This is no game you WILL be back before sundown."
"Jeez fine jiji. Ill see you later then."
Thirty minutes later
Zahar was now walking the path with a concerned look on his face. In his life, Zirconis was adamant on his dislike towards humans and wanted nothing to do with them. What confused Zahar further, was the look on his fathers face. Tightening his grip around his
He looked so…worried. For once he looked his age. Jiji, what's going on with you?
Tying his hair back and pushing those thoughts aside, he decided he would make the most out of this little field trip. Zirconis wanted him to experience human culture, so he would.
It didn't take long for Zahar to reach the entrance to this little town and when he did, Zahar was met with an…intriguing sight. Zirconis always told him about humans and their way of life, he also commented on some things that were 'abnormal' for humans, like the vastly contrasting colors of their hair. Which was why Zahar was taken aback at the sight of a trio of kids with brilliant white hair around his age arguing with each other. One was an older girl with her hair tied into a ponytail and wearing a black outfit of sorts…Zahar could barely consider those clothes even by his standards which were already really damn low. Standing next to her was a tall boy with his white hair being in a bowl cut wearing a simple t-shirt and jeans combo. And next to him was a tiny little human girl wearing a pink dress and a similar haircut to the large boy. This trio of kids were quite literally the first humans he had ever seen.
You know, that one girl is actually very pretty, a little scary lookin but pretty nonetheless. Maybe she's nice?
"Hey, cabbage patch!" Said the older girl.
"Huh?" Zahar replied dumbly
"What? Your ears malfunctional? I called you cabbage patch!"
"N-No! And who you callin cabbage patch?" Zahar snapped back at the white haired pre-teen. "Jeez, the first time you meet a human and they start insulting you." He grumbled to himself.
Maybe I was wrong about this girl…
Grimacing at this new name for himself he begrudgingly walked over. Gaining the attention of the other two in her party, he waved to the shy little girl behind the older boy's leg who sent a small wave back. Walking up to the boy first, he introduced himself with a toothy grin and an outstretched fist.
"Hey there. The names Zahar."
Realizing he was being talked to, the boy nervously stuck out his own massive fist to bump with Zahar.
"Oh uh, hi. My name's Elfman Strauss. The little one here is Lisanna, and over here is my older sister Mirajane."
"Ah so that's Snow Whites name. That's fine, I think I'll keep calling her Snow White. It's nice to meet you Elfman, and you too little Lisanna."
Taking notice of the pissed off look on the now named Mirajane, he chuckled to himself piecing together it was the nickname he gave her.
"Hehehe, maybe dont insult someone and you wont get stuck with a stupid nickname…snow white."
"I WILL KICK YOUR ASS-" Before Snow White could say anything more, her brother got in between them with Snow White clamoring on her brother's back to swat at Zahar. Turning his attention to the little girl standing shyly next to him.
"Is she always like this?"
"Y-yea a little bit."
Ignoring the still shouting Mirajane he responds to Lisanna with a small chuckle. Reaching into his pack, Zahar pulls out a small, albeit empty, book and starts to write in it, finding this whole altercation vastly humorous.
"M-Mira nii! Please just calm down already!" Elfman almost begged his elder sister. After calming down, Elfman stopped shielding the green haired boy from his sister and turned to zahar.
Elfman gave off a nervous smile and was apologetic toward Zahar. "Sorry about my sister, we were just on our way to get some grub. You want to join us?"
And as if on cue, Zahar's stomach bellowed like no other. Seemingly answering the question for him. With a pink hue to his face and an embarrassed smile he answered the tall boy.
"I could eat. What places are good around here, and speaking of here, what town is this exactly?" He questioned Elfman.
"Seriously? You waltz into a town and not even know the name? How dumb can someone be?" came the scoff and annoyed voice of mirajane.
"Watch it Snow White, I live on a damn mountain not in one of these towns." Zahar retorted.
"Whatever cabbage boy, this is Margaret town, home of the Lamia Scale guild."
Zahar's confusion at the mention of something called 'guilds' was prominent on his face. Hell, not even Zirconis knew about guilds; he just talked about mages and their way of living, if skewed by a dragon's view.
"What the hell is a lamia scale? Is that some kind of sickness?" Zahar genuinely asked the trio of Strauss siblings. In response, the three looked at each other and Snow white started to cackle like mad.
"Oh my lord! Cabbage patch, you really are an idiot!" as her cackling grew louder, so did the frustration and anger within Zahar. Here was this human girl completely insulting him for something he had no control over.
Oh I'm gonna give this bitch a piece of my mind. In one swift motion, Zahar threw down his pack, scattering the contents on the ground and gained a fighting position.
"You really like to talk. Maybe I can shut you the hell up for a minute." the green haired boy said in a cold manner. Gone was the joking attitude, now remained a boy who was raised by a dragon and was rearing to fight.
"That's how you wanna play? Fine by me." snow white shrugged and got in a stance herself but her siblings tried desperately to stop her. After yelling at them to stay out of it, her eyes narrowed as she looked at the odd stance Zahar was in.
It was an unfamiliar brawler like stance that seemed as though he was not used to fighting a smaller opponent. Oh well, mirajane would take advantage of this regardless.
Zahar was studying his opponent carefully. He had no idea what snow white was capable of and seriously didn't want to underestimate the brazen girl who so rudely dismissed him earlier. He would show her that it was a mistake. He inhaled a massive breath, so much so that his cheeks swelled and his magic power was rising at a rapid rate.
"Mira watch out!" Elfman smartly called out to his older sister but was too late to stop what was coming from Zahar.
"Jade dragons Roar!" Zahar let the wave of green, caustic energy fly. Mirajane was caught very off guard by the strange magic. So much so that she didn't have time to cast a spell of her own and proceeded to be faced with the full might of the jade dragon slayer's breath attack.
The results of the spell was not what anyone had imagined them to be. Instead of receiving burns across her body, sending her flying into the next building over, or even harming her in any way, instead the spell…dissolved her clothing.
Zahar stood dumbfounded, "What the hell was that?" he mumbled to himself with a dumb expression on his face.
The instant mirajane had realized what happened, her face went completely red with rage and tears came to the corners of her eyes. "I'm going to kill you, you stupid cabbage patch looking asshole!"
"Wa-wait lets just hold on a second!" Zahar tried to amend himself, but it was far too late.
"Take over: Satan soul!" Mirajane called out to the heavens as a golden circle appeared underneath her and a black and blue magic circle appeared over her head.
Elfman still couldn't believe his eyes. The attack by the green haired kid was looking to be a large and destructive wave. Instead, it was the complete opposite. It dissolved his sister's clothing and tainted her honor! 'No man should have to resort to such tactics!' The young man thought angrily to himself as he too prepared to fight, however the chuckling lisanna who was no longer hiding behind his leg broke him of this.
"Mira nee kind of deserved it big brother Elf." she said in between chuckles.
The light emanating from mirajane had ended and revealed a dangerous looking young woman. Her legs were covered in scarlet red scales, she had black wings stretching from her back and hands transformed into large yellow claws ready to rip and tear.
Seeing his sister break out the satan soul magic had made elfman realize this was already going too far so he decided to step in front of his sister. "Mirajane that's enough!"
"Get out of the way elfman! I'm making cabbage soup for dinner tonight!" Mirajane yelled back to her younger brother in a husky voice. In all of this, Zahar was just watching events unfold just with a healthy amount of fear placed well within his heart now.
"I really had no idea my magic would do that! Honest." Zahar tried once again.
"See mira? The whole thing was an accident. We can get you another outfit, but let's not overreact when so many people are around." Elfman said the last part in a hushed tone to his sister and upon hearing such words, whipped her head around to see the growing crowd coming to view all of the commotion.
She gave one more death stare to the cabbage haired kid who dishonored her in such a way and scoffed. "You got lucky this time…Zahar." Without another word she turned her head and walked away with her younger brother. The only ones who stayed were Zahar and lisanna.
"You know…technically you won." the little white haired girl said cheerfully to zahar.
"Uh huh, can't forget your sister literally almost tore me in half. I'm so gonna wring out that green asshole when I get back."He still couldn't believe what his breath ability did and was quickly forming plans on how he would get back at his father. However he was cut from his planning when his stomach started to growl once again, causing his face to go red in embarrassment and the little lisanna to start giggling once more.
She started to walk away from the boy but did a quick turn to face him, "you know big brother ed still offered food, c'mon follow me! There's a really good barbeque place nearby!" the happy little girl said before once again turning back to follow her siblings.
'Hm. potentially face the wrath of snow white, or have barbeque…whatever that is. Screw it, you only live once.' "Hold on, Lisanna, I'm coming!" He quickly gathered his scattered objects and ran after the little girl.
