Simba's Second Chance: A King's Ransom by senshi05

Chapter One: Louie's Lions

Simba and Nala were always hungry for a perilous adventure, the kind that made them feel like they were all grown up like King Mufasa. They never expect to trek across a whole desert before ending up together in the Jungle. After surviving a python attack, they made their love for each other clear and resolved to get back to Pride Rock together.

But that was easier said than done. Every day they were wander in any given direction to find their way back to the desert and maybe find a safer way home. Yet they'd come way too close to death's door with a predator here or one of nature's death traps like quicksand. By now, they were in a part of the Jungle that seemed... oddly quiet. Even the bugs were being low-key.

"So what's it gonna be today?" Nala began in curiosity, her eyes darted around for danger. "I call... tar pit."

"Nah, we always sniff those out," Simba swore, sounding way too casual about it. "I'd say... an elephant."

"Elephant?" Nala asked in disbelief.

"Yeah, he'll probably mistake us for really big bugs and eat us alive," Simba sniggered, joking at the scenario.

"Or his trunk will be snort strong enough to suck us both up?" Nala giggled. "Our last act on Earth: causing severe sinus congestion."

"Not unless your butt starts blasting," Simba cackled crudely. "One toot'd be our ticket out the trunk."

"The dynamic derrière dealts it again," Nala declared, shaking her fanny about with pride.

The two were too busy bouncing off each other playfully that they didn't notice the speedy figures following them up in the trees. Not until a part of hand grabbed Nala by the hips and yanked her up into the air.

"SimBA!"

Simba looked up sharply and drop his jaw in surprise.

There was Nala being hoisted up by a monkey being pulled up by another monkey and another and another. A whole rope made of monkies was lifting her up towards the highest tree tops when a real devious looking one climbed down his friends with a coil of vines over his right shoulder.

Simba managed to shake out of his stupor enough when Nala's hind legs were pressed together and tied up tightly. She had been in such a state of shock that she forgot to use her claws.

"Simba, help me please!" Nala desperately cried while waving her hind paws.

This gave another monkey a chance to climb down while swinging a loop of vine like a lasso and casting it downward with an evil sneer. Before Nala knew it both pairs of her paws were bound too tightly for her claws to be of any use.

"Let her go, banana breath!" Simba proclaimed at last, rushing boldly forward towards the tree.

He hoped to climb up and make an example of one of the monkies by way of his claws to a throat of their's. However, he suddenly felt a loop of vine tie itself to his hind legs one split second and hoist himself up into the air as he cried out in shock.

Simba looked up and found a hidden vine was hanging him by his back paws, swinging him like a sack of potatos. He scowled furiously when he saw that more monkeys were up in the branch, admiting their part in this with their toothy grins.

One of them went down to his level by way of their chain of monkeys if only to make faces at their captive. "You kitty-cats think you're so powerful," the crass primate teased with his tongue out. "Not anymore now, huh?"

"Why don't you come closer," Simba declared angrily with a few swipes of his paw, "and find out?" However, he was just an inch out of reach. Worst came when another lasso tied his forepaws together and lifted them up towards his hind legs. The monkey that made fun of Simba set to work tying all four legs together in one big bunch.

"Simba, no!" Nala cried in distress when the monkey that bounded her fore-paws together lifted them up to her hind paws too. Just like Simba, they were all tied together with another helping of vines.

All of this was bad enough until Simba and Nala were both let go by the monkeys, the prince cut away by teeth. The cub screamed all the way. They couldn't use their claws. They couldn't land on their feet. At this rate, their spines would be shattered.

And then... they stopped with a jolt just a foot shy of the forest floor. They swung by their vine bindings and bumped into each other with a collective "Oof." They caught their breath in belief that they were safe.

"Well, well, well," a crass voice greeted. "Nice-a y'all t' drop on by."

But the terror had only just begun.

The cubs looked up to find a toothy grin spread across the fattest ape they had ever seen. However, the look in his eye and the knit of his brow gave off vibes of pure sadism. Nala's pupils shrunk in a paralyzing sort of horror at the sight of their captor. This beast was going to kill them. They were going to die. She was going to die.

Simba immediately pushed his own fears aside to meet the ape's sneer with his more furious scowl. How dare this criminal manhandle a lion like him. And royalty to boot.

"What's the big idea, blubber belly?" Simba demanded to know. "You have any idea who you're dealing with."

Nala's fearstriken expression turned to Simba. She feared for what the ape would do to him yet found his bravery rather comforting. Fetching even...

"Ah, forgot to intraduce mahself," the ape chortled like it was all one big game. "Louie's th' name. And King is mah claim t' fame."

"K-King?" Nala managed to stammered.

"King of mah monkey tribe at least," King Loiue boasted with an almost jovial tone of voice before turning back to Simba. "An' yes, Ah know all 'bout your kind, lion cub."

"Then you'd know that my father won't take this lying down," Simba snarled back, hoping to put the fat boy in his place. "He finds me with you and you're his dinner, breakfast and lunch in that order."

King Louie's laughter was accompanied by his primate flunkies once they gathered from the tree. Simba's scowl soon began to soften over this bold display. The threat of his father surely would've made a few of them gulp.

"An' where is yer pappy of yer's?" King Louie questioned while walking off with his spoils. "We c'n hava li'l trade of sorts."

Simba could only mask his fear so much. "Oh... well... he's... around."

"Yeah, in th' Pride Lands no doubt," King Louie evilly gloated. "O' course, since Ah'm sure he's way outta the way, y'all gonna have to take responsibility for yer actions."

"Pl-Please, sir," Nala begged with more humility. "We'll do whatever you ask of us." King Louie seemed to eye her with a sort of hunger in his eyes. Not that she'd put it past him.

"Mmmmmm, dat's mo' like it, kitty-witty," King Louie sneered while carrying them towards what seemed like some sort of stone wall. "Wassay... y'all take on my royal challenges."

The monkeys above ooooooed and cackled eagerly over what was clearly something they were hoping on. Simba could tell that it was either play by Louie's rules or suffer his consequences. He'd figure a way out so long as they could put up with his stupid mug.

"Anytime, anywhere, banana breath," Simba barked back at his captor. "I humble overblown egos like your's before dinnertime."

"Mmmmm, what a coinky-dink," King Louie sniggered, lifting Simba up to eye him maliciously. "Dat'd be mah favorite hobby too."

Oh, Simba, Nala thought in admiration.

The purple python was one thing but King Louie is a whole other ballpark. And he's willing to get real nasty.
