Izuku POV:

Musutafu, Japan.

Year 2138

Aldera pre-school

Izuku hated it.

"Great job Izuku! To think you are already able to write your name so perfectly! I know you will be great when you grow up, especially when you get your quirk." said Izuku's preschool teacher.

Izuku had never bothered to learn her name, why would he? She was a fake. He still smiled at her brightly, acting as though her opinion truly mattered.

It didn't.

This was just an average day for a 4-year-old Izuku Midoriya, a boy with lime green hair, his eyes staring dully at nothing while his face showed various expressions. This was just how he was. Compared to the other children that surrounded him, he was an incredibly intelligent boy. He was able to read at an elementary school level and could write his name in Kanji with perfect handwriting.

Izuku wasn't undeserving of his apparent genius label. He was able to recognize that all the people who showered him with praise didn't care for him. None of them knew what he liked to eat, his favorite color, none of that. They all just saw his supposed amazingness and showered him in praise blindly.

He hated it.

At the end of the school day, Izuku was on his way out of the school when he heard a loud voice.

"Ha! As if you could ever be as amazing as me!" these were the words of a young Katsuki Bakugou as he stood over one of his classmates with small crackling explosions going off in his palms. It seems as though the boy had attempted to 'challenge' Katsuki in some form and had been promptly beat up. Izuku made no attempts to interfere in the obvious bullying, the boy on the floor was a fake afterall.

Izuku didn't particularly like Katsuki, he was loud, brash, and cocky, but he was at least different. Katsuki didn't kiss the very ground he walked on and made attempts to challenge him in some way. With his powerful quirk and an intellect that was almost as high as his, he was another person who was surrounded by fakes.

While he was never quite able to keep up with his intellect and could never win the fights he instigated, he was at least different. That was why he was one of the 2 people who Izuku bothered to remember.

Who is the other person you might ask?

"IZU-KUN!" someone called out

There she was. Izuku's eyes noticeably brightened, and a genuine smile spread across his face at the sound of the voice. He swiftly turned around and saw as his mother walked toward him quickly. She was a slim woman with a height of 5'4' and had similarly lime green hair and eyes. Her personality was quite different from Izuku's, she was a soft spoken and shy woman who was barely noticeable when in a crowd. She worked a job as a nurse and got paid enough to get by even with her father absent from their life.

Izuku didn't care, he loved his mother more than the whole world, more than himself. He would decimate all life on the planet if it made his mother happy.

"MOM!" He called back as he rushed towards her and wrapped her torso in a hug as she crouched down.

"How was school baby?" she asked as she pulled away and started walking toward their car with Izuku's hand in hers.

"It was great! I had a lot of fun." He said with a big smile stretched across his face and his eyes closed. He smiled with his eyes closed so she wouldn't notice it was a fake smile.

"That's awesome Izu." she responded with a soft smile, "I'm so sorry this is so sudden, but we have to go to the quirk doctor today since you quirk hasn't shown up 6 months since you birthday."

"It's okay mom, I don't mind."

Inko loaded Izuku into his car seat and got into the driver seat herself before backing out of the school.

Musutafu General Hospital

1 ½ hours later

Izuku sat next to his mom as they waited for the doctor to return to his office. He had already taken the required samples and X-rays from Izuku and was going to run them through some test to determine whether he had a quirk and what it was.

They sat for a couple more minutes until the door was opened again. Dr. Tsubasa was a short middle-aged man with a bald head, a light brown mustache, and a pair of strange goggles that looked like gears with green lenses. He sat down and leaned forward with an excited gleam in his eyes.

"Well Mrs. Midoriya, we know for sure your son has a quirk." he said

Inko let out an audible sigh. She had admittedly been worried that her son wouldn't develop a quirk since he still hadn't shown any signs of one even after all his other classmates had. She was not so naive to believe that Izuku would live a happy life if he was quirkless. She knew that even with his smarts, he would be treated as a low-class human.

"So just what is his quirk doctor?" she asked

"That's the amazing part Mrs. Midoriya. You said that you had a mild telekinesis quirk and your husband-"

"Former husband, sir." Inko corrected

"Sorry, former husband has a fire breath quirk, right?" Tsubasa asked.

"That is right doctor but just what does this have to do with anything?" Inko asked

"Well it seems as though your son's quirk is a mutation. His quirk is completely different from either yours or his fathers." the doctor continued

"Can you please get on with it?" Inko snapped in a rare show of irritation. Izuku snorted out a small laugh seeing his mom's temper showing it's head slightly.

"Ah, Sorry about that. So, we have decided to call your son's quirk Dreamer." Tsubasa said

Inko gave the doctor a confused look "Dreamer?" she asked

"Yes, your son may well have the most powerful quirk I have ever seen. Put simply, he has the ability to turn fantasy into reality."

This threw Inko and surprisingly Izuku for a loop as that was not what they were expecting.

"Can you please elaborate doctor."

"Of course. It's simple but complicated at the same time. Izuku can imagine anything at all and it will become reality. The only limitations to this ability are that he has to consciously think about what he wants to apply his quirk to and he is not capable of bringing the dead back to life. Other than that, the possibilities are endless." the doctor said excitedly.

Inko sat there in stunned silence for a couple of minutes while Izuku had a surprisingly straight face. Inko then stood up and grabbed Izuku's hand and lead him out of the hospital after thanking the doctor.

Inko was guiding the car through traffic as she talked excitedly about how happy she was for Izuku and how his quirk would allow him to live his life however made him happy. Izuku entertained his mother by responding excitedly and blabbing about wanting to be a hero. Izuku didn't really care. He would use his quirk in whatever way he could to make his mother the happiest woman in the world.

TW INCOMING!

Everything went wrong from there when the car screeched to a halt as the pro hero, Endeavor came crashing out of the sky like a flaming meteor while grappling with a villain.

Inko stared in shock for a few seconds before she scrambled out of her seat and quickly got Izuku out of the car and ran as fast as she could away from the fight.

Izuku was still in shock as he watches as the villain blasted Endeavor off him and placed his hand on the ground. The ground started to shake violently as the buildings surrounding the fight started to collapse.

As the buildings toppled large chunks of debris started raining out of the sky as Izuku's shock turned to horror as he watched someone get crushed to death by a block of cement.

He watched as the street descended into chaos. People were impaled as large support beams tore through them, spilling the intestines all over the street. Others were crushed or burnt alive, clawing at their flaking skin, and screaming, as Endeavor's wild attempts at incapacitating the villain hit them.

Due to his shocked state, Izuku didn't notice as his mother slowed down her running and was shocked when his mother threw him as far away from herself as she was capable of.

As he flew through the air he could only watch as a chunk of cement with a steel support rod protruding out of it fell on top of his mother.

Izuku hit the ground hard and in the process broke his right leg. He screamed out in pain as he held his leg tightly before he remembered just what his quirk was. He promptly focused as hard as he could on his leg being normal again and was shocked as, in an instant, it reverted to how it used to be. He sat there shocked by everything that was happening before he snapped out of it and started to frantically search for his mother.

Because of the dust from the debris and the smoke from the pro hero's flames, Izuku had a hard time finding her and became so frustrated that he simply willed all the smoke around him to dissipate. When it finally did, Izuku immediately regretted it as right in front of him was his mother.

Her body had been run through by the support rod and her entire torso had been ripped open from the back exposing her insides. It seemed as though a stray bit of debri had hit her after the large block because a quarter of her face had been crushed, revealing her brain underneath and her eye socket barley being kept attached to her body by a vein.

Izuku could only stare in shocked horror at the mutilated form of his mother as she lay dead on the dusty street in a large pool of her blood. Tears started leaking out of his eyes as his legs gave out and he fell on his butt, staining the pant he wore with the blood of his mother.

His mother

His mother

The woman he loved more than life itself

Gone in a visibly painful way

His mother

His mommy

Izuku broke down in hysterical tears as his cries were drowned out by the sound of battle. Continuously repeating the word mommy, over, and over, and over again as if it would by some miracle give her back to him.

But nothing happened. She stayed dead.

Izuku sat there for almost an hour even after the sounds of fighting tapered out, crying his heart and soul out.

Because he had nothing left

His mother, the light of his world, was gone. He was trapped in darkness. He had no purpose.

TW END

"Come child, one as young as yourself should not stay in a place like this."

Izuku whirled around and saw a white-haired man with crimson red eyes holding out his hand for him to grab. He contemplated rejecting the offer hand but wasn't sure what reason he had to do so. His mother was dead after all.

The man seemed to notice his contemplation and said, "Come with me, I shall give you a reason to live. I shall give you a new purpose."

Izuku stared at the man in shocked awe before his eyes went dull again and he grabbed the man's offered hand and was led through a swirling purple portal.

Bakugou Pov:

Musutafu, Japan.

Year 2138

Aldera pre-school

The next day

Katsuki Bakugou sat in class as the extras that surrounded him clambered on about whatever it was extra's talked about, he was surrounded by his usual posse of extra's as they showered him in his well-deserved praise. The teacher hadn't shown up to class yet and he was getting irritated.

That was when the door was slid open, and the class went silent as the teacher made her way up to the front of the class with a somber look on her face.

It was then that Katsuki noticed that someone was missing from the class, Izuku Midoriya, the only other non-extra in the class and someone Katsuki disliked with a passion.

"Today is a terrible day for all of Aldera. I regret to inform you that your classmate, Izuku Midoriya, has been announced dead due to the catastrophic fight between the pro-hero Endeavor and the S-class villain Whitebeard. Please bow your heads for moment of silence for the great loss we have suffered."

Everyone in the class obeyed the instructions and bowed their heads in respect for Izuku. All except one.

Katsuki Bakugou was seething. This wasn't how it was supposed to go. Izuku wasn't supposed to just die out of the blue like that. They were both supposed to grow stronger and then have an epic battle to finally show that he had become stronger than Izuku. But then he had to go and die like an idiot.

Katsuki sat there with his fists clenched in his lap and tears stung at his eyes. Unbeknownst to everyone, including Izuku, Katsuki thought of Midoriya as his best friend and the only one worthy of being his rival. Even though his quirk hadn't manifested, he would still always beat Bakugou whenever they fought. He had a begrudging respect for him. But he was dead now. Katsuki would never get to prove himself. Ever.

It was only later that night that Katsuki would decide that if he never got the chance to beat Izuku, he would prove that he was stronger than everyone else. He would work himself to near death so that he could prove that he was the best.

For Izuku.
