The Bar - Location Unknown
"Kurogiri, get rid of them. I can already tell they're exactly the kind of trash I hate." Shigaraki ordered, pointing his finger towards the new "recruits" in annoyance.
"A brat and a guy with no manners." Shigaraki stated, looking at the girl's creepy cheerful smile and the burned man's dead expression. He could still see the third stranger behind them standing at the door frame staring off into space. The fishwoman wasn't even looking at his direction while muttering to herself. He could barely understand the words coming out of her mouth, but he could hear it.
"Dark. Dark. Dark. Dark. Make it brighter… Make it brighter…" She muttered, shivering intensely. The blue glow on the end of her antenna seemed to get brighter as she muttered. Her odd behavior and lack of attention to him annoyed him even more.
"And what the hell is that?" Shigaraki questioned, unsure what to even say about the fishwoman.
"Now, now, Tomura Shigaraki. They came all this way, the least we can do is hear them out. Give them a chance." Kurogiri stated, attempting to ease the situation. He turned his body towards Giran and continued.
"Besides, this broker is respected in the underworld. They're bound to be valuable assets." Kurogiri added, reminding Shigaraki of Giran's job. He knew anyone Giran would find meant that they were capable of great villainy.
"Like 'em or not, you still owe me a finder's fee. In cash." Giran said, continuing to smoke on a cigarette. He stepped inside the bar and stood behind the girl and the burnt man, turning his back on the fishwoman who sized him up with hunger.
"I suppose I could introduce them to you before I go." Giran offered.
"This one looks like an adorable high school girl, right? She's actually the suspect in a series of deaths where the victims all bled out. So far, her name and face have been kept out of the media." Giran explained, introducing her to the villains.
"Toga, here. Himiko Toga!" Toga said, introducing herself with a smile.
"Life is too hard. I just want to make it easier to live in this dumb world." She said, leaning forward. She raised her fists up in exhilaration and blushed with twisted excitement.
"I wanna be Mr. Stainy! I wanna kill Mr. Stainy! C'mon, Handy-man, please let me join your League of Villains!" Toga said, leaning even further towards Shigaraki. Tomura reeled his head back in response, getting the feeling she had more than a few screws loose in her brain.
"You gotta be kidding me. Is she crazy?" He questioned.
"Well, she can hold a conversation. For the most part, at least. C'mon, she can be useful." Giran stated, giving her some credit. Giran heard the other woman muttering to herself at the door frame and turned around.
"This other lady back here? She might be difficult to make conversation with, but she knows how to survive. She's wanted for several murders along the coastline. Most of her victims were found chewed up and half eaten. It was so bad the police refused to release the photos." Giran explained, looking at the woman.
"C'mon, introduce yourself." He encouraged, waving at her for her attention. The fishwoman stopped muttering and stared at his hand like a moth to a lamp, licking her teeth a bit. Moving flesh on a living target captivated her. She squeezed her scaly webbed hands and listened to Giran, nodding at him in understanding. She turned and looked at Shigaraki with a glance, standing at the door frame. She clasped her webbed hands together and fidgeted with her hands.
"Is..Isora Kagi…nawa…" She said, struggling to pronounce the words with her razor sharp teeth.
"What do you think of the League?" Giran asked, receiving a nod.
"Want to join. Kill…flesh…Like Stain…Want to kill…Like Stain…Eat…Stain…" She stuttered, blinking her fish-like eyes in rapid succession. She played faster with her hands as she spoke, returning back to muttering incoherently. She turned back around and started to sniffle.
"Dark. Dark. Dark. Dark…" Isora stuttered, holding onto her elbows with her scaly hands, letting her antenna glow again. In the corner booth, Kazan looked at her with a disgusted frown. She was somehow creepier than Ravage.
"Like she said, she wants to join. As for what she is? She's an angler fish, I think." Giran explained, using his knowledge of deep sea fish. Isora heard Giran guess the fish she bared resemblance to and nodded.
"Angler…Yes…Yes…Fish.." She answered, nodding her head with an odd rhythm.
"So, she's a cannibal goldfish? That's disgusting." Shigaraki said, looking at the hooded fishwoman with disgust. Giran shrugged his shoulders and moved onto the next guy, pointing his finger at the man covered in burns.
"And this guy…" Giran introduced, "Hasn't committed any flashy crimes, but he's taken Stain's Ideology to heart." He explained.
"I don't like this." the man admitted out loud. He looked at Giran with a questionable dead stare.
"Is your group really dedicated to the Hero Killer's mission? I can't imagine you are if you let these psychopaths join you." He stated, glancing at the younger girl to his right and the fishwoman mumbling at the door. Toga giggled in response while Isora glanced at Dabi, taking a look at his charred flesh.
"Grow up." Shigaraki replied, having enough of the burned man's comments.
"They may be psychos, but at least they know how to introduce themselves to people. Don't just stare. What's your name?" Shigaraki questioned.
"Right now, I'm going by Dabi." Dabi said, introducing himself. Shigaraki sneered at him and raised his finger towards his face.
"No, I want to know your real name." Shigaraki ordered, glaring at the charred man.
"I'll tell you when you need to know it." Dabi answered, stubbornly closing his eyes in response, "In any case, my new purpose is to carry out the Hero Killer's will." Dabi explained, opening his eyes.
"That wasn't what I asked you, Patchwork." Shigaraki groaned, getting frustrated. He leaned on the bar counter and scratched his neck in annoyance.
"This is ridiculous. Where did you find these people, anyway?" He questioned, looking at Giran. He simply smirked and shrugged in response, blowing more smoke into the air. Shigaraki glanced towards Kazan in the corner booth with narrowed eyes, making eye contact for just a split second. Kazan noticed his narrowed eyes and tensed up ever so slightly, preparing himself.
"Ugh. I don't like any of them." Shigaraki said out loud, letting the trio hear his opinion. He didn't stop there and continued.
"She's crazy." Shigaraki said, pointing at Toga, "She freaks me out." He said, pointing at Isora.
"And you?" Shigaraki said, pointing at Dabi, "We already have a fire user in our party." He stated, pointing at Kazan in the corner. Toga and Dabi both glanced at the corner booth, making eye contact with Kazan. The Obsidian Villain looked at them with narrowed eyes, flaring his nostrils in intimidation. His intimidation display proved ineffective as the duo looked at him with blank stares. Toga looked at his obsidian shell and tilted her head in thought, wondering if he can bleed. She waved at him two seconds later, making Kazan scoff in frustration. Dabi had the same dead expression he walked in the room with, showing no signs of being afraid.
"You're lucky you're even getting my time of day." Shigaraki sneered, wanting Dabi to act more grateful. He ended his rant and continued to sneer at the trio, scratching at his neck more harshly. Kurogiri noticed his behavior and watched as Shigaraki stood up out of his chair.
"Lastly, I've had it with Stain. Stain this, Stain that. Why is everyone so hung up on Stain? He's all I ever hear about…" Shigaraki growled, causing Toga and Dabi to tense up. Kurogiri did the same, sensing a change in the air.
"No, don't do it." Kurogiri whispered, but Shigaraki ignored him.
"Every damn day, it's really pissing me off..." Shigaraki shouted, raising his voice and aiming his hands towards the group, "You three are done!" He snarled.
Toga pulled a knife out of her clothes and gripped it firmly, beginning to swing. Dabi raised his hand up and activated his quirk, letting his hand heat up with sparks of fire. Shigaraki sprinted towards them as Toga and Dabi acted in self defense. Kurogiri quickly reacted, rapidly stretching his misty body outward. In an instant, all of their attacks were countered by his portals. Kurogiri did a head count and noticed the fishwoman wasn't present, hearing a hissing sound coming from the door. He turned his eyes towards the door and spotted Giran standing in the hallway. Isora stood at the door frame, drooling intensely.
"Flesh… Flesh… Flesh!" Isora snarled, lunging towards the group. Kurogiri prepared another portal to counter her, however, she was caught in midair by Kazan's fist.
"Erk!" Isora choked, feeling Kazan squeeze her throat with his obsidian fist. She hissed and snarled, struggling to breath. Kazan held her up by the part of her neck that had her gills, obstructing her breathing. She looked at Kazan and made eye contact, noticing the frustrated expression on his face. She desperately clawed at Kazan's fist with her claws, but they weren't strong enough to break through his obsidian skin. Kazan watched her struggle and flared his nostrils, feeling satisfaction with seeing her choke. He glanced at Kurogiri and made eye contact, receiving a grateful nod from the shadowy mist. He understood his response and squeezed even harder on Isora's throat, making her gasp.
"Everyone, please, relax." Kurogiri said in a calm manner. He looked at the group and glanced at Shigaraki.
"Calm down, Tomura Shigaraki. If your desire is to be realized, then we must increase our numbers. Now that we're in the spotlight, our chance is at hand." Kurogiri said. He lowered his eyes and extended his neck outward, swerving towards Shigaraki's side. He went up close to his left ear and whispered.
"I advise you to be more accepting. You must use them and the ideology Stain has left behind." Kurogiri whispered. Shigaraki understood what he was saying, but that didn't mean he liked it. He internally sighed and relented, putting his hands down. Toga and Dabi did the same, de-escalating the fight. Kurogiri closed his portals as Shigaraki started walking.
"I'm outta here." Shigaraki stated, walking past Toga and Dabi. He could still hear pained grunting sounds coming from the fishwoman, making him look up. Kazan was squeezing the life out of her with his fist around her neck. Shigaraki narrowed his eyes at the fishwoman and noticed a couple slits around her neck. He quickly realized those were her gills that Kazan had his hand around. Her dangling legs were in the way of the door, making him grunt internally.
"Kazan, drop her." Shigaraki ordered, causing Kazan to nod.
"Hmph." Kazan scoffed, letting go of her neck. He let Isora fall to the floor, landing on her stomach. She squirmed around on the floor, gasping for air and coughing profusely. There was a red mark around her neck and gills from the heat produced by Kazan's obsidian fist. Her eyes darted around the bar, looking for something. She spotted the kitchen behind the counter and put her hands on the floor. She crawled on all fours and threw herself over the counter. She found a faucet and turned it on in a hurry, letting a pool of water form in the sink. Flexing her gills and hyperventilating, she quickly dunked her head into the sink. Making a splash around the bar. She sighed in relief, letting bubbles escape from her gills. Shigaraki watched her in silence before turning his attention back to the door.
"Kazan. Come with me." Shigaraki ordered, causing Kazan to look at him in confusion.
"Where are you off to?" Giran asked, curiously.
"Shut up." Shigaraki replied, exiting the bar. Kazan watched him leave and flared his nostrils, heading towards the door to follow him. As he was leaving, Kazan's eyes made short glances at Toga and Dabi. Dabi looked at him with a dead stare while Toga still had a smile on her face. He let out steam from his nose and exited the bar. He didn't like them, either. He exited the bar and closed the door shut, leaving Kurogiri and Giran behind with the three strangers. Giran stared at the door and rubbed the back of his head in subtle irritation, keeping his calm professional appearance.
"I try to make it a point not to complain about a client, but he's too young. And far too immature." Giran stated, letting Kurogiri hear his opinion.
"Really thought he was gonna kill us for a sec!" Toga exclaimed, still smiling.
"That guy makes me wanna vomit." Dabi admitted in deadpanned disgust.
"Shall we get back to you about recruitment at a later date? I believe our leader knows what he has to do. That's why he left as he did. He understands his circumstances." Kurogiri explained, getting the trio's attention. He looked at Dabi and Toga, and Isora as she lifted her head out of the sink. She was breathing better than before. He lowered his eyes at them and recalled recent events in his mind.
"All Might, then the Hero Killer- He's been humbled twice very recently. I'm sure he will bring you an answer. One that will satisfy all of you, as well as his own desires." Kurogiri stated, affirming his belief in Tomura.
UA High - The Next Day
Ami patted Mina in the back as she cried on her shoulder, closing her eyes and frowning. The class had assembled with everyone mostly in their seats, except for four students. They stood in the front of the class with looks of shame and defeat on their faces. Ami stared at their faces with sympathy, understanding their feelings. Mina seemed to be suffering the most, immediately hugging Ami with tears.
"E-Everyone I'm looking forward to hearing all your stories of how fun camp was." Mina croaked, feeling terrible.
"There, there." Ami said, patting her on the back with a soothing voice. Ami didn't know how else to calm her down. She really did feel sorry for them. Kirishima and Kaminari were her friends, too. Sato was a friend, too, but she didn't really talk with him that much. Izuku stood next to Ami, watching tears fall down Mina's eyes. He was also out of his seat and shared the same frown that Ami did. He tried his best to be reassuring.
"Maybe they'll let you go anyway…Like a last-minute twist or something." Izuku said, receiving Ami's hand on his left shoulder. He looked at her hand and stared at Ami's face, noticing her solemn expression.
"Don't, Izzy. Don't give them hope..." Ami frowned with half-shut eyes, letting Mina bury her face into her left arm.
"Yeah, Midoriya. By saying that out loud, you're just jinxing them." Sero frowned in agreement, grabbing hold of Izuku's right shoulder. Kaminari had his back turned from the twins, staring at the floor with his head down. He sniffled a bit, understanding the reality of his failure.
"They said whoever failed the exams would have to skip training camp and live in summer school hell. We didn't pass the practicals, so we're doomed." Kaminari said, raising his head up.
"Don't you get it, Midoriya!?" Kaminari cried, shoving his fingers in Izuku's face.
"Or did All Might knock all the brains outta you?" Kaminari exclaimed, nearly poking Izuku in the eyes. Ami let go of Izuku's shoulder in time and grabbed Kaminari's wrist before he could poke Izuku. She didn't squeeze him very hard, just made sure he wouldn't reach Izuku's eyes.
"Ease up, Kaminari." Sero said, sympathetically.
"I'm not sure I'll get to go, either. Our team only passed thanks to Mineta. I got knocked out, and since we don't know how they're scoring stuff, I might have flunked." Sero said, putting his hand on the back of his head. Ami looked at Sero with a sad frown, turning her head towards him.
"What? But, Mineta, used your tape to keep Midnight from putting him to sleep. That's gotta mean something, right?" Ami said, making Sero sniffle in disappointment.
"Don't give me hope, either..." Sero muttered, looking down at the floor in shame.
"Tch. You idiots should have tried harder to win." Bakugo said, leaning on his chair with his feet on the desk. He had his arms crossed. Ami looked at him with a disapproving glare, making him close his eyes as soon as he noticed her eyes. He kept scowling and said nothing, having said what he said with no regrets.
"At least bring us back lots of camp souvenirs, please?" Kaminari exclaimed, raising his hands upwards and begging. Instantly, the door slid open with a slam. Aizawa entered the classroom with a solemn expression.
"Once the bell rings you should be in your seats!" Aizawa instructed, staring at a silent class with everyone in their seats. The commotion he heard outside the door had quickly ended. He walked over to the front of the class and stared at the students.
"Morning." He said.
"Unfortunately, there are a few of you who did not pass your final exams." Aizawa said, reminding four students of their pain.
"So, when it comes to the training camp in the woods…Everyone is going!" Aizawa said with a weird smile.
"It's a last-minute twist!" The four students exclaimed. Ami and Izuku smiled at the twist and looked over at the four students with happiness.
"We really get to go to camp?" Kirishima asked.
"Seriously?" Mina questioned, feeling her soul return to her body.
"Yeah. The good news is that no one bombed the written exam. Five failed the practical badly. Two teams, of course, and then Sero failed as well." Aizawa revealed, making Sero frown.
"Aw! Crap, I knew it. Mineta made it to the gate, but I didn't do near enough to pass." Sero whined, facepalming in defeat. Ami looked at Sero with a sympathetic frown. Team J took a major blow. Since Kirishima and now Sero failed their final exam, Ami was the only one to pass. Making her Team J's Sole Survivor.
"Allow me to explain. For the practical battles, the teachers made sure to leave a way for the students to win. Otherwise, you never would have stood a chance. We were interested in observing how you each worked together and approached the task at hand." Aizawa said, getting Ami's attention.
"How we worked together, huh?" Ami thought, folding her arms and smirking at Bakugo's direction. He could see her smirking at him in his peripheral vision, making him narrow his eyes. He focused on Aizawa's words and wondered how All Might left a way for them to win.
"But didn't you promise that the teachers wouldn't be holding back?" Ojiro asked.
"That was just to get you on edge." Aizawa answered, swiftly, "Besides, the training camp will focus on building your strength. Those who failed need those lessons the most. We were never going to separate you." Aizawa said, letting his weird smile return to his face.
"That was just a logical deception we used." Aizawa smiled, feeling satisfaction in scaring the class.
"A logical deception?" Four students exclaimed, repeating his words.
"He tricked us all. I should have expected this." Iida said, hearing the four students celebrate behind him. He clenched his fist in calm frustration, feeling confused.
"Mr. Aizawa, this is the second time you've lied to us. Aren't you afraid we'll lose faith in you?" Iida asked, standing up with his hand raised.
"Uh, a little blunt there, Tenya." Ochaco said, caught off guard by Iida's outburst. Ami couldn't help but giggle, placing her hand over her mouth and smiling. Bakugo could see that in his peripheral vision, too. He found himself unable to look away, making him grip the edge of his desk. It did the trick as he looked away in time before she could notice.
"That's a good point. I'll consider it. But I wasn't lying to you about everything. Failure is failure." Aizawa reaffirmed, making the five students freeze up.
"We've prepared extra lessons for the five of you. Frankly, they'll be far tougher than what you'd face at summer school." Aizawa said, finishing up going over the final exams. The five students gulped upon hearing about the extra lessons, fearing them immensely.
Evening
"This is gonna be great. I'm so glad we're all going together." Ojiro said, smiling with a guide book in his hands. Aizawa had handed them to the students in the front row, making them pass it down. The book was a guide for the training camp, listing off features and things to expect in an outdoor setting. Ami opened the guide book immediately upon receiving it, taking note of everything written. This was her first time going camping. She'd never done it before. She wanted to go camping, but after her quirk manifested, she had a fear of causing a wildfire. But now? She could confidently say that fear didn't exist anymore.
"Wow, camping! I can't believe it. I've never been in the wild before." Ami exclaimed with sparks in her eyes. Bakugo heard that statement and scoffed.
"You followed me into the woods all the time." Bakugo said, looking at Habanero with a blank stare. She heard his statement and rolled her eyes with a smirk.
"Yeah, but I never slept there." Ami countered, looking at the guide. She read another paragraph about the time frame they would be going and noticed how many days they were going to be there. Her eyes widened in surprise at the length of the camping trip.
"Look, Kacchan. It says here we're gonna be camping for an entire week!" Ami exclaimed, leaning over towards Bakugo's desk. She also scooted closer in excitement. He watched her lean towards him and leaned back in response, getting her copy of the guide book shoved into his face. He looked at her book and glared at her in annoyance, raising his own guide book at her and pointing at it.
"I have my own." Bakugo said, letting out a small grunt. Ami pulled her book away and brought it back onto her desk, staring intently at the page. Bakugo looked at her enthusiasm with a blank stare, watching her smiling.
"No. Stop getting distracted." Bakugo thought, looking down at his own guide book. He groaned internally, gritting his teeth in frustration. Ever since their fight against All Might two days ago, his feelings towards Habanero had intensified. It was getting increasingly harder for him to look away from her. When he wasn't thinking about studying or training, she would be there smiling in his head. It was annoying.
"Damnit. Why'd that stupid pro have to say it out loud?" Bakugo thought, complaining about Best Jeanist. He could focus better when he didn't know his feelings towards Habanero were romantical. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
"Ignore it. Don't let it get in your way." Bakugo thought, thinking about Habanero's words. He squeezed his eye lids even tighter and clenched his fists underneath his desk.
"After all the trouble she went through to get me to even consider her as my friend…There's no way she'd ever be in…" Bakugo thought, denying the possibility.
"It says we've got a few weeks to prepare before we actually go. They even listed off some essential items we should pick up." Ami said, pointing out another paragraph on the same page. She thought about the list of essentials and frowned, thinking of her suitcase. It was small and was only meant to carry a couple days worth of essentials. Izuku's suitcase was like that as well.
"Hmm. Guess, me and Izzy are gonna need bigger suitcases…" Ami said, thinking out loud. Bakugo listened to her voice and read the list in his own guide book, scoffing. He stood up out of his seat with a blank glare, looking down at the floor in thought. Ami noticed he was getting up and raised her eyebrow at him.
"Leaving already?" Ami thought, frowning a little in disappointment. She wasn't done talking about camping yet, making her face turn a faint red.
"If I'm going to be camping for a week, then I'll have to get a bigger suitcase, too." Bakugo thought, forming a scowl.
"I should go buy one now." Bakugo thought, thinking of the time. Right as he walked around his desk, the invisible girl started talking.
"Guys, since we're off tomorrow and we finally finished exams, I have the best idea!" She said, forming an excited grin that no one could see, "Why doesn't Class 1-A go shopping together!" She exclaimed, receiving a warm reception from the class.
"Hey, yeah! We've never hung out as a class before." Kaminari said, smiling at the thought.
"Bakugo. See you there, right?" Kirishima asked, noticing Bakugo was leaving already. Bakugo heard Shitty Hair's question and scowled, flaring his nostrils. As if he'd waste an entire day hanging around with his whole class. He was about to reply and completely deny the invitation, however, Habanero spoke up before him.
"Yeah, we could look for stuff together!" Ami exclaimed, standing up from her seat. The thoughtlessness of her innocent sentence caused Bakugo to pause. His heart actually skipped after hearing it, making his eye twitch. Her words echoed through his head, making him freeze in place.
"Together! Together! Together!" Habanero exclaimed, repeating several times in his mind. Bakugo instantly pushed her words out of his head and grunted.
"Fine." Bakugo said, accepting the invitation.
"Awesome!" Kirishima exclaimed, getting pumped up. He kept his glare up as he exited the classroom. When he was out of sight of everyone, his eyes instantly bulged out of his sockets.
"What the Hell? Why did I accept it so easily?" Bakugo thought, clenching his fists to the point of cracking his knuckles.
"Grrr. This is bullshit!" He thought, criticizing his stupid feelings as he walked down the stairs. Now he had to show up, frustrating him. Back inside the class, Ami watched Bakugo leave with wide eyes.
"Wait, what? He's actually going shopping with me- I mean, all of us?" Ami thought, feeling confusingly flustered.
"Maybe he's breaking out of his shell now that we've worked together." Ami thought, justifying his acceptance towards the invite. She put her head down and covered her face, letting herself calm down. Her heart was beating a lot faster than she was expecting.
Off to the side, Izuku had a similar surprised reaction. He smiled as Bakugo exited the class, overhearing Kirishima's invitation to Bakugo.
"Wow, Kacchan's actually going shopping with us!" Izuku thought, smiling absentmindedly. He remembered the past and thought about when he and Ami would follow him around everywhere. He also thought about the two kids that continued to follow him even more than him. He remembered the dragon-winged kid and the extended-fingers kid, making him nod.
"He really does consider us his friends now!" Izuku thought. He couldn't believe it. Finally some progress. His eyes then focused on Todoroki, noticing he was starting to leave class as well.
"Will you come, Todoroki?" Izuku questioned, getting Todoroki's attention.
"I visit my mom on days off." He explained, denying the invitation in a polite manner.
"You party pooper! Don't you ever get tired of being so serious?" Mineta complained, glaring at Todoroki's blank expression. He looked at the purple teen in confusion.
The Next Day - Kiyashi Ward Shopping Mall
Bakugo entered the mall with arms crossed and eyes glaring. He couldn't believe he was actually here. How did this even happen?
"Grrr." He growled, internally.
"Hey, Kacchan!" The twins said in unison. Bakugo heard their greeting and twisted his neck around, spotting the twins approaching him. He looked at Deku and Habanero with raised eyes, realizing how long it's been since he'd seen them with casual clothes on. Deku was wearing the most plain, boring-looking gray t-shirt and blue pants he'd ever seen. At least Habanero's black t-shirt had a pink cat on it. She also wore a red skirt that was similar to her hero costume without the flame design. Both of them were carrying their backpacks on their backs.
"Glad you made it!" Habanero said, smiling at Bakugo's presence.
"Uh huh." He replied, hearing Deku speak up afterwards.
"Yeah, I can't believe you actually showed up." Izuku said, innocently. Bakugo looked at Deku and scoffed at his words, crossing his arms.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Bakugo asked, flaring his nostrils. Bakugo's glare caused Deku to reel back and awkwardly laugh out of nervous habit.
"Uh- What did I say, again? Wonderful weather, right?" He asked, appearing as nonthreatening as possible. Bakugo rolled his eyes at him and shrugged, looking back towards the mall.
"He's just teasing." Ami smirked, tapping Izuku's arm with her elbow.
"Oh, man, do I love this place! It's got a ton of different stores to shop at, and they're all super cool and hip. The Kiyashi Ward Shopping Mall!" Mina exclaimed, throwing her hands in the air in excitement.
"Seventeen, Eighteen, Nineteen…" Iida said, rubbing his chin as he finished counting, "Alright, save for Aoyama and Todoroki, that's everyone accounted for!" Iida said, smiling successfully at his headcount.
"Remember, we are still UA students. We have to set an example as exemplary students no matter where we go. So, be respectful." Iida announced, getting a couple eye rolls. He nodded at himself and glanced over at Bakugo and the twins, making eye contact with the explosive blonde.
"Bakugo, I'm sure you'll be on your best behavior?" Iida asked, looking at Bakugo with narrowed eyes. Bakugo flared his nostrils and casted a death glare at Four Eyes, growling with anger.
"This is why I didn't want to come here..." Bakugo thought, gritting his teeth. He remembered Best Jeanist's words about public appearances and huffed, taking another deep breath. He'll kill him later. He looked back at the twins and noticed Deku was intensely analyzing every shop on the first floor.
"They carry designs for all body types, and have a range of gear for everyone from teens to seniors. The logistics of…" Izuku said, muttering to himself. Ami giggled at his muttering and looked at the mall. It was longer than the Quirk Museum, that was for sure. Four whole floors of even more places to shop. It was amazing.
"So many places to look…I could spend a whole week at this mall." Ami said, laughing at her own thoughts.
"Whoa! Aren't those UA students?!" A random bystander said, noticing the group of high schoolers.
1-A! I saw them on TV!" Another random bystander said, joining with the other happy bystanders with shared excitement.
"The Sports Festival was so good!" A group of citizens shouted, making the students smile.
"I can't believe they still remember that." Ochaco stated, feeling slightly embarrassed. Luckily, the bystanders didn't stick around long. They returned back to their own shopping and left Class 1-A alone. The students browsed around for a little bit and found maps highlighting every shop in the mall. Once they were confidently settled in, they began talking to each other about where to go.
"I wanna track down a new duffel bag to bring to summer training." Jirou said, piquing Yaoyorozu's interest.
"Oh, yeah? Maybe the two of us should browse together." She suggested, receiving a nod. A short ways away from the group, Mineta looked at the different shops. His goals were beyond his classmates' understanding.
"Let's see, where can I get a lockpicking kit and a small drill?" Mineta said, keeping his eyes out for a hardware store. Ami and Bakugo watched Mineta look around with glares on their faces. Ami was still mad about the Hole Incident, having no faith in Mineta. Bakugo glared at the purple pervert with Habanero, feeling more pissed off at him then he realized.
"What do you think he's looking for?" Ami asked, glancing at Bakugo.
"Something stupid." Bakugo replied, watching the pervert's nose start bleeding. They looked at him with eyes raised in suspicion, not trusting that look at all.
"Very stupid." Bakugo added, watching the perverted pipsqueak sprint away from the group. Ami nodded in agreement, dreading what he'd try to pull off in the future.
"Guess I should probably buy some outdoorsy shoes for this thing." Kaminari said.
"Oh, that's smart, me, too!" Hagakure said, agreeing with him.
"The guide said your shoes should already be broken in, though." Iida said, referring to the Training Camp Book.
"But, wait. Perhaps it's a mistake not to factor utility into the equation." He analyzed, doubting his earlier assessment. Kirishima listened to his classmate's talk amongst themselves about things they're looking for and quickly came up with something.
"So, then, why don't we split up and look around? We can meet here again when we're done." Kirishima suggested, getting an enthusiastic response from Mina.
"Great idea!" Mina exclaimed.
"Perfect. Let's say we're all back around three?" Kirishima said, looking up at the clock tower.
"Sounds good!" The students said in collective agreement.
"In that case, where are you heading, Kirishima?" Ami asked, looking at the redhead with curiosity. Kirishima turned to look at Ami and quickly answered, pointing up at the third floor.
"Oh, I was gonna head upstairs and look for some clothes." Kirishima replied, making Ami smile and nod.
"Hey, I'll join you, then. I've never gone camping before so I wanna find something for the weather." Ami said, tagging along.
"Yeah, great." Kirishima nodded, enthusiastically. Ami smiled and turned her head back, staring at Bakugo with a questionable eyebrow.
"What about you, Kacchan?" Ami inquired, getting his attention. He flared his nostrils and quickly replied.
"I'll go wherever I want." He stated, keeping his arms crossed.
"So nowhere in particular?" She smirked, keeping her eyebrow raised. Bakugo scoffed at her reply.
"How bout you come with us, then? Maybe you'll find something you like." She suggested. Bakugo considered the offer and paused. The only thing he really had eyes on at the moment was finding a suitcase. Would it hurt to waste time with Habanero? He thought about it more and raised his eyes a bit. Wait…That means he'd have to be near her again. He tensed his muscles and groaned, getting frustrated again.
"Stop it." Bakugo thought. It wasn't like they'd be alone. Shitty Hair was there. Yeah. He quickly rationalized that there was nothing he needed to worry about. He snapped out of his thoughts and sighed, shrugging his shoulders.
"Fine." He replied, keeping his head down so Habanero couldn't look at him. Ami said nothing and smiled, squeezing her backpack strap and letting her heart start racing again.
"Bakugo's actually hanging out with me!" Ami thought, feeling that strange feeling return. She didn't know why, but her face was starting to turn red, causing her to look away and squeeze her backpack strap even tighter. She took a deep breath and calmed herself down, looking at Izuku.
"We'll be upstairs. Later, Izzy!" Ami hollered, waving goodbye. Izuku waved back and smiled, watching her leave with Kirishima and Bakugo.
"See ya." Izuku hollered, taking in the silence. He stared off into space, realizing there was only one person left by his side.
"Looks like it's just you and me left." Izuku pointed out.
"Yeah." Ochaco noticed, clenching her fists.
"So, what are you gonna shop for today? I wanna find a few heavier wrist weights so I can up my training." Izuku said, speaking up with enthusiasm. Ochaco made eye contact with him and stared into his eyes.
"I mostly just need bug spray." She replied, still making eye contact with Izuku. Almost instantly, her mind got sidetracked. Aoyama's face appeared in her head, saying something she wasn't ready to hear.
"Is it…because you like him?" Aoyama asked.
"Yep." Ochaco said, snapping out of that thought. Her face turned red in an instant, getting Izuku's attention. She could tell she was blushing hard, making her feel embarrassed.
"Gotta keep those pests away!" She said, turning away from Izuku's gaze and flapping her hand in his direction. She quickly scurried off, leaving Izuku behind in her dust. Izuku didn't understand what happened and immediately took it the wrong way.
"Do you mean, me?" Izuku asked, pointing at himself in confusion. He watched her run away in a real hurry, leaving him confused and alone.
"We came together as a class, but here I am all by myself." Izuku said out loud, holding onto his backpack straps in confusion.
"Oh, it's someone from UA, nice." A strange raspy voice said, coming up behind Izuku. Izuku heard the voice and turned his head to the right, looking for the source.
"I want an autograph." The voice said, coming up on Izuku's left. The man behind the voice brushed up beside Izuku and wrapped his arm around him, catching Izuku off guard. The interaction caused him to awkwardly laugh with anxiety.
"You're the one who got beaten down at the Sports Festival, right?" The man asked, getting an awkward laugh from Izuku.
Uh, yeah…" Izuku replied, feeling uncomfortable.
"Wow, UAs so amazing. I can't believe how many people watched the matches and still remember us." Izuku thought.
"Aren't you one of the students who ran into the Hero Killer in the Hosu Incident, too? You're practically famous." The man said, catching Izuku by surprise. This stranger really did know his stuff.
"You sure do know a lot." Izuku complimented, unsure of how else to respond.
"What can I say- I'm just a big fan of yours. I can't believe I'm running into you again." The man said, causing Izuku to freeze.
"Wait, what?" Izuku thought, feeling a chill go down his spine. His stomach churned with confusion, feeling an incredibly bad vibe from the man.
"It makes me think that it might not be a coincidence." The man said. Izuku listened to his voice with more focus and recognized it somewhere, making his heart stop.
"No, no. This feels like it's destiny." The man said, slowly putting his hand on his neck. Izuku felt the man place his fingers on his neck and gasped in discomfort, making his whole face go pale.
"He's wrapping his hand around my neck." Izuku thought, wondering what he was planning. He looked down at the hand on his neck and noticed how incredibly pale and sickly the man's skin looked. Not only was his wrist super pale, but his hand was covered in a burn mark. Izuku looked at the burnt hand and felt his eyes widen with fear.
"Wait. That hand…It's burnt. No way…Is this?" Izuku thought, beginning to remember who this stranger was.
"Oh, right. From your point of view, we haven't met since the attack on UA." The man said, confirming Izuku's thoughts. Izuku gulped and narrowed his eyes, gritting his teeth as he slowly turned his head to the left. He needed to see the man's face.
"Why don't we spend some time catching up? Izuku Midoriya." He smiled, making eye contact with Izuku. Izuku's blood went cold, feeling paralyzed with fear. The moment he made eye contact with the man, he recognized him instantly.
"Tomura Shigaraki!" Izuku thought, feeling his legs tremble with fear.
Earlier
Shigaraki stood in front of the entrance to the mall in silence. He read the sign and started walking, casually walking by crowds of random citizens. He had a lot on his mind, making him stare at the floor. He needed time to think. As he continued walking, Stain's words echoed through his mind, annoying him.
"What meaning is there to killing if you dont have real convictions?" Stain said.
"Just wait, Hero Killer." Shigaraki thought, looking around the crowds and shops.
"These people think they're safe, like nothing can harm them." He thought, watching parents talk to other parents as their kids ran around playing tag next to their legs. He looked to his left and spotted a group of friends, laughing at something. To his right, a happy couple walked by and held hands. All these people are having fun and enjoying the day. It pissed him off.
"I don't know if they're naive or just ignorant. People are getting killed somewhere at this very moment, but these idiots keep smiling. Like they don't have a care in the world." Shigaraki thought, walking past another store.
"Hero Killer gear! Are they really selling this?" A man said, looking at the costumes on the wall. Shigaraki heard the man's voice and paused, turning his head to the right. The store had clothes designed to resemble the Hero Killer's outfit on the walls. He looked at the merchandise on display and scoffed.
"You'll get into so much trouble if you buy that." The man's friend said, looking at the merch in his hand
"Sure, but how does it look?" The man asked, putting the mask on his face.
"Oh, cool." The friend said, pulling out his phone and taking a picture. Shigaraki watched the photo get taken before heading further inside the mall.
"But, on the other hand, you've got sympathizers who couldn't care less about your ideals. And yet, they still follow you. What's up with that? Aren't we doing the same thing? You and me?" Shigaraki questioned, thinking about those weird recruits Giran found.
"In the end, you destroy things you hate, just like I do." Shigaraki thought, wondering why Stain had such an effect on people.
"So what gives? What's the difference?" He questioned, raising his head up. Shigaraki looked at what was ahead of him and froze, raising his eyes in surprise. Standing with his back turned against him was a green haired kid. A very familiar green haired kid. It was him. The brother. He lost his concentration and forgot about Stain, walking towards the greenette with a creepy smile.
Present
"Act natural. Don't make a scene. I'm just an old friend who you ran into at the mall. Calm down and wipe that look off your face." Shigaraki whispered, making sure Izuku could hear him clearly. Izuku didn't know what to do. His friends were all on their separate ways. His phone was in his pocket, but Shigaraki's hand was already on his throat. If he tried to pull his phone out, he was sure Shigaraki would react.
"I think we should have a conversation, is all." Shigaraki said. Izuku said nothing and listened, still paralyzed with fear.
"A friendly chat. Oh, and of course, if you try to run or fight me in any way…well, it'll be fast." Shigaraki warned, tapping his fingers on Izuku's throat. The feeling of his fingers made him flinch, causing him to gulp.
"Soon as all five of my fingers touch your neck, your throat'll be the first thing that disintegrates. In a matter of seconds, you'll be nothing more than dust and powdered bone." He threatened, making Izuku's eyes shrink. His imagination betrayed him, giving him a visualization of Shigaraki turning him to dust. It scared him.
"If you do that here where there are so many people, a hero will come and catch you in no time. You couldn't escape." Izuku warned, feeling sweat drip from his forehead. Shigaraki smirked in amusement.
"I don't doubt that. But just look at these sheep. Any one of them could use their quirks and start a massacre whenever they wanted. And yet they're all here, smiling." Shigaraki stated, getting Izuku to look at everyone. His eyes darted everywhere, looking for any sign of his friends. If they could see him, then they'd call for help. But what else would happen then?
"They think laws and rules will protect them, because they assume everyone has their same morals. They're convinced nothing bad could ever happen to them." Shigaraki stated, looking at the crowds in annoyance. He looked down at Izuku and saw the fear in his eyes, making him smile.
"After you I could kill 20…30…maybe even more before a pro showed up and managed to stop me." Shigaraki threatened, making Izuku tense up even more.
"I get it. Let's talk." Izuku said, unclenching his fist. He had no choice. He couldn't risk letting Shigaraki hurt others. Shigaraki smiled at his response, feeling great.
"Hehe. This is nice. A real moment. Let's go grab a seat and get comfortable, why don't we?" Shigaraki suggested, spotting a bench nearby.
"When it comes down to it. I hate basically everything. But the Hero Killer pisses me off the most right now." Shigaraki admitted, holding on to Izuku's neck as they sat down on a bench.
"Isn't he one of your guys?" Izuku asked, hiding his fear so that no one passing by would get suspicious. If anyone thought he was in danger, then he knew Shigaraki would kill them.
"Not technically, but that's what the media made it look like. And that's what my problem is. It's like suddenly, everyone is obsessed with that stupid Hero Killer." Shigaraki complained, thinking about the past.
"The attack on UA, the Nomus I released on Hosu, the attack on the Museum, he upstaged all of it." Shigaraki ranted in frustration. He thought about the USJ Nomu and frowned. Then his mind focused on Ravage, making him angry.
"Speaking of the Museum, how's your sister doing? Is she here?" Shigaraki asked, causing Izuku to turn pale. The mention of his sister freaked him out immediately. He looked at the burnt hand on his neck and remembered what happened. Aizawa saved Ami's life and disabled Shigaraki's quirk in time. However, in a state of fight or flight, Ami had activated her quirk. She lit Shigaraki's arm on fire, hurting his hand the most with the heat of her flames. He snapped back to reality and glanced up at Shigaraki, seeing the anger present in his face.
"I've got a few choice words to say to her about this injury of mine. It still hurts from time-to-time. It's really annoying." Shigaraki said, tapping his fingers on Izuku's neck. Izuku flinched again. Shigaraki was so close to just touching him with all five fingers, it was terrifying. Izuku listened to the complaint Shigaraki had towards his right hand and narrowed his eyes. The near-death of his sister temporarily riled him up, making him forget about the situation as he glared at Shigaraki.
"You had it coming…You almost killed her." Izuku blurted out in a low voice, making Shigaraki chuckle.
"Aww, how brave of you to stick up for your baby sister." Shigaraki smiled, squeezing tighter on Izuku's throat with only four of his fingers. Izuku felt the pressure increase on his neck and gritted his teeth, "Careful, though, I may take that little comment personally." Shigaraki warned, continuing to squeeze harder on his throat.
"Don't you know I'm in mourning? What kind of a hero tells someone they deserved to get hurt? My cat just died, you know..." Shigaraki asked, making Izuku gulp. He was trying to guilt trip him. Ami told her about the cat Nomu. It almost killed her, too, making his chest start pounding. He could barely swallow his saliva with how tight Shigaraki's hand was. Shigaraki stared off into space and narrowed his eyes, thinking back to the USJ. He remembered when he first noticed the students hiding from him in the water.
"You know, it wasn't personal. I could have picked any one of your faces to disintegrate. She was just the one I happened to target." Shigaraki admitted, making Izuku grit his teeth.
"So, either she's here or she isn't. Which is it?" Shigaraki asked, glancing left and right with his demented smile.
"She's far away." Izuku stated, straining his voice. Even speaking was becoming hard to do. Shigaraki listened to the tone of his voice and continued to smile.
"So she is here. Tell me, does she have nightmares of me? Do I terrify her as much as I terrify you?" Shigaraki asked, thinking about the fear in Ami's eyes back then. Izuku thought about the question and remembered how she felt about the incident. It scared her for quite some time, sure, but she got over it. She moved on.
"No. She doesn't think about you at all. You're not even a second thought." Izuku said, making Shigaraki narrow his eyes.
"Krk-" Izuku choked, feeling Shigaraki squeeze harder. He could just barely breathe now.
"No one's giving me a second thought. Why is that?" Shigaraki asked, frowning a little.
"Despite what the Hero Killer claims to believe, all he really did was try to get rid of whatever things he didn't like." He complained, returning to the topic of the Hero Killer. He looked down at Izuku and loosened his grip on his neck, letting him breathe a little easier. He was choking him too soon, he wanted to continue chatting.
"What do you think the difference is between us? Midoriya?" He asked, making Izuku stare at him in contemplation.
Upstairs
"Hm? Do you think I should buy a hat?" Ami asked, looking at the display of hats on the wall. Bakugo leaned on the wall next to the display while Kirishima was trying out clothes he found in the changing room. Going upstairs turned out to be a hitch, there were tons of great clothing stores upstairs. Ami enjoyed every second of time spent in each store. They were only at their fourth clothing store with plenty more to look at. Bakugo stared at the hat in Habanero's hand and examined it, narrowing his eyes. It was a tan explorer's hat, like something he'd see in an adventure film.
"It's a training camp, not a safari." Bakugo stated, shaking his head. Ami rolled her eyes and tried it on, staring at her reflection in the mirror.
"Yeah, but it's summer. It's gonna be hot." Ami said, justifying herself. She smiled at her reflection and waved her hand through her hair. She liked how the hat looked on her.
"Hey, that's not bad, right?" Ami asked, seeking his opinion. Bakugo didn't give her a response and rolled his eyes. Ami looked at him through the mirror and raised her eyebrow, thinking of an idea. She smirked mischievously, which Bakugo saw through her reflection. She pulled the hat off and attempted to put it on his head. Bakugo leaned his head to the right, avoiding Habanero's range. She tiptoed and raised her hand up higher, forcing Bakugo to block her by placing his wrist on her wrist. She was getting close again, making him clench his jaw and hold his breath.
"Don't put it on me." He gritted, glaring at her. She squinted her eyes at him and stopped tiptoeing, leaning away with a sigh. He very quietly unclenched his jaw and exhaled.
"You're no fun." Ami pouted, shrugging her shoulders in defeat. Bakugo looked at her pouting and relaxed, leaning back on the wall. He was glad she was oblivious to how close they were, making him flare his nostrils. Just because it looked great on her doesn't mean he should wear it, too. Wait…what was he thinking? He raised his eyes and gritted his teeth, making his heart stop. Ami was still oblivious and put the hat back on her head, staring up at the hat with sparkles in her eye.
"I'll take it!" She exclaimed, clenching her fists.
"Alright, I think I'll buy it." Kirishima said, stepping out of the changing room with an awesome shirt.
"Find something yet, Bakugo?" He asked, receiving a glare from the blonde.
"Ask me when we leave." Bakugo replied, receiving a shrug. Kirishima turned his attention towards Ami and noticed she had a hat on her head.
"Hey, nice hat!" Kirishima exclaimed, getting a smug smile on Ami's face.
"Thank you." She said, glancing at Bakugo, "At least someone says so…" She thought. The trio headed to the register and paid for their new apparel, exiting the store soon after. Bakugo walked behind Habanero with hands in his pockets, staring at the back of her head in silence. He had a hidden frown on his face as he stared at her with his heart beating at a faster pace. He swallowed his saliva and scowled at his actions. He only looked at her for barely three seconds, wondering why looking at her was so different now. He knew why.
"Or is it because…you actually like her?" Best Jeanist said, echoing through his head. Best Jeanist basically forced him to figure it out. He had feelings for her, making him confused. He's never thought of anyone in any way like this before. No one. So, why her? Why of all people was it Deku's sister?
"Stupid Pro Hero." Bakugo thought, growling internally. Sure, he knew Habanero his whole life, but he's never actually thought of her like that. So, why was it so easy for him to keep his eyes on her? Of course, he also had a feeling he knew the reason. He looked at her in silence, dropping his scowl when he noticed her smile again. He tucked his lips in and flinched, feeling his heart skip a beat. Now that was annoying. He stared at her captivating smile and felt the corners of his lips slowly rising.
Best Jeanist was right. It was her smile that he liked the most. He didn't get it. If it was really all because of her smile, what did that mean for him? Personality wise, she could stand up to him a helluva lot better than Deku. That always impressed him. Her way of speaking to him. It was like she always knew what to say to get him to talk. Even in combat, she knew how to handle herself. She survived against a Nomu for crying out loud. Sort of…he clenched his fists at the thought, remembering her side of events during the Hosu Incident. She almost died. When he first heard her side of the story, he was still in denial about actually liking her. But now, knowing what he knew now, it scared the hell out of him. He almost lost her… He blew air out of his nose and shook his head, pushing that thought aside. She was right here, right in front of him. She was safe. She was happy, making him happy.
He returned to thinking about Habanero, accepting how much her personality played a role in how he felt. He started to wonder what else about her could have caused these feelings to form without him knowing. What other reason could there be? His mind started to wander, making him think back to the locker room incident. He was still in his denial phase back then, too. Despite that, that Pipsqueak's voice entered his mind.
"You won't believe what I just found. Someone shawshanked a hole in this wall!" The Purple Pervert said, making Bakugo grunt. He returned to the present with fists clenched and narrowed eyes. That annoying little Pipsqueak wouldn't shut up about that stupid hole, frustrating him. He continued to remember the rest of the incident. To his surprise, Deku acted like a brother for once and blocked the hole, only making the Pipsqueak go insane. He tried ignoring his grating voice, but then he started publicly listing off everything he found attractive about his classmates. It pissed him off incredibly because he knew he would bring up Habanero, making him grit his teeth as he stared at his locker. He remembered what he was thinking back then, too. It was a conversation he had with Habanero.
"Well, I wanted to look approachable to all ages. Like a mascot at theme parks, you know?" Habanero asked, making him crack a grin.
"That explains it then. That purple kid's been staring at your ass the entire time. But since that was the goal then good job." Bakugo said, echoing through his mind. Despite still denying his feelings, that memory triggered something within him. He gritted his teeth and clenched his fists, turning around and stomping towards the Purple Pervert with murder in his eyes. The Pipsqueak was so fixated on seeing the girls bodies that he didn't realize who was standing right behind him. He snapped back to the present with a satisfied smile. Threatening the Pipsqueak's life made him feel a lot better back then. But, wait, why did he do that? Deku had it covered. He didn't need to step in at all…Unless…
Bakugo reexamined that situation again, looking at it from a different angle. He denied it then, but he wasn't denying his feelings now. He didn't give a crap about the other girls, he just didn't want that idiot to see a peek at Habanero. Wait? His heart skipped a beat again, letting his eyes widen a bit. He could feel a blush forming on his face, causing him to look down at the floor with wide eyes. Could he…did he…Did he find her…attractive?
"Holy shit. What is wrong with me?" Bakugo thought, frowning with shock. Is that why it's hard to take his eyes off her now? He never thought about that before. He never looked at a girl like that before. Was he really this far gone?
"Damnit." Bakugo thought, grunting in disbelief. He swallowed his saliva and gulped, calming himself down. He was not about to have a breakdown in public. He lowered his eyes and stopped frowning, keeping his focus on the floor. He contemplated his feelings, understanding them some more. He wasn't like that stupid pervert. No, he never was! Habanero was pretty, sure, but that wasn't what made him like her. He liked her personality. And he liked her smile. Yeah, that was it.
He finally raised his lips upward, cracking a smile. He raised his head up and stared at the back of Habanero's head, calming himself back down again. His…attraction for her must be a side effect of his feelings. Being attractive wasn't what drove him to liking her, although it is true. If anything, liking the way she looks was like picking up a hitchhiker on the side of the road. Wait, why did he come up with this metaphor just to justify being attracted to her? He was pretty sure he was losing his mind, but he didn't stop smiling.
Kirishima turned his head a tiny bit to the right, seeing Bakugo in his peripheral vision for only a second. The blonde was so unusually quiet, he wanted to see if he was still following them. What he didn't expect to see was Bakugo looking at Ami with a not-so-hidden smile. Bakugo didn't seem to notice his eyes were looking at him and quickly looked away, squinting his eyes in confusion.
"Was he smiling at her?" Kirishima thought, questioning what he saw in his mind. That was so bizarre, it was kind of scary to look at. He glanced at Ami and wondered what the reason was, pointing his attention towards the hat she was wearing.
"He must like her hat, too!" Kirishima thought, smiling at the thought. Yup, that was definitely it. The trio walked around the mall for a couple minutes in silence, passing by several electronic stores and hardware stores. Ami looked inside the stores as they walked by, catching a glimpse at what they were inside. At the very back of one of the electronic stores, she could see rows of large TVs. There was a fragrance commercial playing on all of the TV screens. The commercial quickly caught Ami's eye as she walked past. As she continued walking, she passed by even more electronic stores with large TVs on display. All of the stores were playing the commercial. She figured they must all be programmed for the same channel. She watched the commercial while walking and raised her eyebrow at it. A female pro hero was narrating over the commercial. She recognized the voice as belonging to that one pro, Uwabami. She didn't know much about her other than she sold fragrances.
"I think Mom has that fragrance." Ami thought, watching the commercial.
"No matter how damaged your hair is, our new formula is sure to deeply penetrate each strand." Uwabami narrated, spraying the fragrance bottle towards her hair.
"Such shine!" Uwabami narrated over a shot of an orange haired teenage girl brushing her hair to the side. Ami squinted her eyes at the commercial, recognizing that girl on TV.
"Isn't that girl in class 1-B?" Ami thought, watching the commercial. The next shot featured another teenage girl that Ami recognized instantly.
"Such volume!" Uwabami narrated as Yaoyorozu flicked her hair upward.
"Yao-Momo?" Ami thought, staring wide eyed at the TV in bewilderment. She didn't see that coming.
"Such luxury." Uwabami narrated, standing in the center frame with Yaoyorozu and the 1-B girl standing off to the side.
"Easy curls with just one spritz. Uneri Hair Spray. Come on, ladies. Ride the waves." Uwabami narrated, smiling at the camera.
"Yaoyorozu's in a commercial?" Ami questioned, recalling what she said about her internship. It was very few words.
"Hey, Yao-Momo. What happened in your internship?" Ami asked, getting an awkward giggle in response.
"Oh, nothing too fancy. Let's get back to the study sheet." Momo said, quickly changing the topic. Ami returned to the present with an amused grin.
"Well, at least you got to be on TV…" Ami thought, shrugging her shoulders and sighing. Eventually, the group walked past all of the electronic stores, circling back towards the entrance they came from. Kirishima had enough of the silence between all three of them and decided to take it upon himself to get a conversation going. He looked at Ami and started speaking.
"Hey, Ami." Kirishima said, getting Ami's attention. She looked at Kirishima with a smile and stopped walking.
"Yeah?" She asked, making eye contact with the redhead.
"I've got a question that's been really killing me since the Sports Festival." Kirishima stated, placing his hand behind his neck and rubbing. Ami looked at the nervous expression on his face and raised her eyebrow at him. Bakugo did the same, staring questionably at Shitty Hair with arms crossed. Ami nodded in response, turning to face him with curiosity.
"What is it?" She asked. Kirishima squinted his eyes and frowned, not really sure how to word this question.
"Well, it's kinda confusing. I don't usually think about stuff like this, but I'm really curious." Kirishima admitted, getting Ami to nod in understanding.
"How dumb is it?" Bakugo asked, looking at Shitty Hair with narrowed eyes. Ami gave him the side eye at his rude question.
"It's not that dumb. I think." Kirishima replied, nodding his head, "It's actually about your brother." He clarified, receiving a nod from Ami. Bakugo looked at Habanero with narrowed eyes, noticing a tiny speck of nervousness on her face.
"What did he want to know about Deku?" Bakugo thought, examining Shitty Hair's face.
"Oh. What's the matter?" She asked, keeping calm and crossing her arms. She was sure it wasn't anything bad.
"What's he want to know? It couldn't be about One For All, since I don't think Kirishima would ask a question like that around others. Especially in public…" Ami thought, being rational. She made a small glance at Bakugo, noticing his narrowed eyes.
"Plus Kacchan's right here. He wouldn't know Kacchan knows." Ami thought, feeling safe.
He's probably thinking the same thing." She thought, keeping Kacchan in her peripheral vision. She looked at Kirishima with a friendly smile, brushing those worried thoughts away.
"So, you guys are twins, right?" Kirishima asked, rhetorically, "I was looking online the other day about quirk biology and found this cool article about twins and it really blew my mind. And since I know twins in real life, I thought I'd ask you about it." Kirishima said, explaining his reasoning. He looked at Bakugo and continued.
"And since you grew up with them, I figured you might know, too." Kirishima explained, making Bakugo scoff.
"Know what?" Bakugo asked, raising his head up.
"An article online?" Ami repeated, placing her hand on her chin, "It's not one of those "twins can communicate telepathically" kind of articles, right?" Ami asked, squinting her eyes in suspicion. Kirishima laughed and shook his head.
"Nothing like that." he smirked, feeling less nervous. Ami smiled back and felt a lot less concerned.
"What is it then?" Ami asked, tilting her head a bit.
"Okay, so your quirk gives you a new organ, yeah?" Kirishima asked, receiving a nod.
"Yeah." Ami answered, causing Kirishima to elaborate. He quickly summarized what he knew about Ami's quirk.
"You said your quirk was a combination of your parents' quirks. I read online about inherited quirks from both parents and it got me wondering about what else passed on from them to you and Izuku." Kirishima prefaced, confusing Ami a bit.
"What else passed on?" She questioned, tilting her head in confusion.
"Yeah, like, uh, you both have green hair." Kirishima pointed out, receiving a nod from Ami in understanding.
"Oh, so you mean like simple genetics that we get from our parents?" Ami questioned, getting a smile from the redhead.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. You don't just get quirks from your parents, you get some of what they look like, too. Which leads me to what I want to know." Kirishima said.
"Does your brother have a flame organ?" Kirishima asked, remembering what Ami called it. Ami and Bakugo looked at Kirishima with raised eyebrows. That's not what they were expecting to hear.
"I know what you're thinking. His quirk's mutated, so it's completely different from your mom and dad, right?" Kirishima questioned.
"Uh huh." Ami nodded, listening to him explain himself.
"Yeah, but that doesn't mean he didn't get anything else from your parents. Green hair, remember?" Kirishima stated, pointing at her hair.
"So I read online that people born with mutated quirks can still wind up getting some fragments of what their quirk should have been, or, what it could have been." Kirishima explained, not getting the proper etiquette. Ami understood what he was saying, though.
"So, you think a flame organ could be one of those fragments?" She inquired, getting a nod.
"Yeah, but since his quirk went into a different direction it'd be really small. Super underdeveloped and stuff. It might not even be attached to anything anymore." Kirishima theorized, making Ami think.
"Hmm? Could Izuku have a nonfunctional flame organ in him? I've never seen an xray of his chest, so, I wouldn't know for sure to begin with? Then again, Izzy doesn't actually have a mutated quirk. He was born quirkless. Would what Kirishima said even apply?" Ami thought, putting a lot of thought into it.
"Oh, man, now I'm starting to get confused." She whined, internally.
"So, does he?" Kirishima asked, receiving a small frown from Ami.
"I don't know. I never really thought about it before." She said, telling the truth. That kinda question probably needed a doctor's opinion.
"Aww, man. But it's possible, right?" Kirishima asked, a little saddened by the answer.
"Maybe. I think so." Ami said, rubbing her chin in contemplation. She turned her head to the left and made eye contact with Bakugo, smiling at him.
"What do you think, Kacchan?" She asked, putting him in the spotlight. He glared at her and Shitty Hair and flared his nostrils.
"I think it's stupid." He scoffed, shrugging his shoulders. Ami looked at him and frowned, disagreeing with him.
"I don't know. Now that I think about it, he actually handles fire pretty well. Not anywhere close to the level I'm at, but still." Ami pointed out, thinking about how close he winds up being around her when her quirk is activated. She thought about the moments they'd spend exercising and remembered how sweaty he'd get.
"He also sweats a lot, too." She added, making Bakugo scoff. He shook his head and thought about Deku, thinking about every time he'd get upset.
"Hmph. Well, he does cry a lot." Bakugo admitted, recalling all the times Deku started crying.
"His body might carry more water to compensate for the fire in his body. Fire he can't actually make..." Bakugo theorized, narrowing his eyes in deep thought.
"Great. Now I'm curious." Bakugo thought, groaning in his head. He realized he was actually humoring that idiot's dumb question and growled.
"Well, since you don't have an answer, either. I guess its unsolved." Kirishima sighed, shaking his head in defeat. Ami frowned at his sad face and wished she had a better answer for him, but she didn't know. Nonetheless, Kirishima quickly recovered, checking the time and moving on.
"Anywhere else you guys wanna check out?" He asked, making Ami think.
"Hmm? I can't think of anything. Why don't we take a short break right now and find somewhere to sit?" Ami suggested, thinking a little rest would get them energized.
"Alright." Kirishima said, nodding in agreement, "You guys can go without me. I'm gonna head to the bathroom." He said, turning around.
"Okay. We won't be far." Ami hollered, watching him walk off.
"Right!" Kirishima hollered, raising a thumbs up. He left the two behind in search of the bathroom. Bakugo watched him leave and raised his eyes, glancing towards Habanero. He was alone with her in a mall, making his eye twitch. His heart skipped a beat for the fourth time, snapping him out of his thoughts. He glared at her instead, thinking about Deku.
"I'm kinda thirsty. I'm gonna go get a drink." Ami said, making eye contact with Bakugo, "Do you want something?" she asked, noticing Bakugo was glaring at her. She raised her eyebrow at him in confusion.
"What?" She questioned, making him flare his nostril.
"Why'd you even bother entertaining Shitty Hair's questions? You know he wasn't born with a quirk." Bakugo said, making Habanero shrug. She looked away and closed her eyes, frowning a little.
"I know…It's just comforting…" She said, being honest. Bakugo heard the answer and raised his eyebrow.
"Huh?" He questioned, listening to her explanation.
"If he does have a flame organ somewhere…even if it's useless and underdeveloped. It's comforting to know there was a chance…maybe he and I could have had the same quirk…" Ami admitted, fidgeting with her fingers.
"But…it wasn't meant to be." She sighed, shaking her head.
"So, about that drink?" Ami questioned, turning back to face him. Bakugo took notice of her quick change of expression and nodded.
"Yeah. I'll have one." He answered, making her smirk. She nodded and turned around, walking away from him with a smile. He stared at her as she left, heading towards a nearby kiosk. He let her answer repeat in his head a few times as he stood there, making him frown.
"It's comforting to know there was a chance… maybe he and I could have had the same quirk…" Habanero said, repeating in his mind. He frowned at his own words, feeling an unexpected sense of guilt flow through him. She really wished her brother had a quirk from the beginning, making him sigh. He couldn't believe how guilty he was feeling for even reminding her of that fact. Deku was born quirkless. Why was that so wrong to say? He has a quirk now. Isn't that good enough?
He crossed his arms and flared his nostrils, letting out a frustrated sigh. He walked over to the rails, leaning on the rail as Habanero walked to the kiosk. Random thoughts went through his head at that moment. What if Deku did have a quirk similar to Habanero's? What then? How different would things have turned out? Would he even call him Deku? Or would he have given him a different nickname? He growled in annoyance, forcing himself to stop thinking of what if's and go back to Shitty Hair's dumb question.
"A useless flame organ? Yeah, right." He mumbled, watching Habanero approach the kiosk. He turned around immediately. He didn't want to look at Habanero while she was making the order. He didn't want the seller to think they were together or something, making his heart skip for the fifth time. He scoffed and rolled his eyes. Why was he still thinking about that, too? He sighed and looked over the edge of the railing, realizing where they were. They were right above the area where the group split off. He stared down at the ground floor below and spotted Deku sitting on a bench.
"Huh?" Bakugo muttered, raising his eyebrow. He could see he wasn't alone, but it wasn't Meteor Girl with him, either. He looked at the hooded figure and felt a sense of dejavu growing. He had seen that man before. As the wind picked up for just a split second, the hoodie moved a bit, giving Bakugo a glimpse of the figure's blue hair and his fingers wrapped around Deku's throat. A tingle went down his spine, making him squeeze the rail.
"What the Hell?!" Bakugo exclaimed, feeling goosebumps travel through his body. His loud outburst caught everyone's attention on the third floor, making everyone look at him. Ami jumped a little upon hearing his shout, causing her to turn around in confusion.
Huh? Kacchan, what's wrong?" Ami asked, looking at Bakugo lean against the rail. Bakugo ignored her and everything around him, feeling his chest pounding extremely fast.
"HEY!" Bakugo shouted, staring down at the ground floor. His shout caught the attention of several onlookers, creating a scene on the third floor. For a split second, Bakugo put his leg up against the rail. He needed to get down there, making him consider jumping the rail. Ami watched him put his leg on the rail and gasped, quickly rushing back towards him.
"Kacchan, what are you doing? You can't just jump off the third floor!" She exclaimed, grabbing hold of him. She was completely oblivious to what was going on below. Bakugo growled and took his leg off the railing, glaring at Habanero.
"That freak from the USJ is here!" Bakugo shouted, looking at Habanero with a frustrated glare.
"What?" Ami gasped, feeling a chill go down her spine. Realizing jumping was a no-go, he groaned and stepped away from the rail. He quickly and, a little gently, pulled Habanero off him and bolted towards the closest staircase.
"Hey, get back here!" A mall cop shouted, sprinting after Bakugo. His outburst caused a disturbance of its own on the third floor. The guard assumed Bakugo was nothing more than a troublemaker and made chase. Ami watched Bakugo run as fast as he could and frowned anxiously. She gulped and felt her body tremble with fear, she turned towards the railing and looked over, spotting Izuku on a bench. Sitting next to him was a man in a hoodie. Flashes of a pale hand grabbing her face appeared in her head, making her eyes bulge outward in fear. She recognized the hooded man sitting down there with her brother.
At the same time
"What's the difference? I don't understand you. Your goals and your villains… I don't agree with anything you do." Izuku said, being honest. He stared at the floor with wide eyes, thinking back to one night in his room. It was the night he and Ami returned to their home after the Internships. While everyone else was asleep, Izuku scrolled through hero forum after hero forum on the internet. He thought about his fight against the Hero Killer and what happened afterwards, remembering the villain's last words.
"The word "hero" has lost all meaning in this society. The world is overrun by fakes and criminals like you who chase petty dreams!" Stain snarled, stabbing into the flying Nomu's brain. He pushed the memory aside and found what he was looking for. The video. It kept disappearing everywhere he looked. The media didn't want anyone to see it, but he found it. And he watched it. Izuku focused back on the present and continued to stare at the floor.
"I don't agree with the Hero Killer, either. But I can understand him. At least, sort of… Because the Hero Killer and I have something in common. We're inspired by All Might." Izuku said, making the comparison. He remembered getting grabbed by the flying Nomu only for Stain to save him.
"Everything that I do is to create a stronger society." Stain growled, pulling his knife out of the flying Nomu's head. Izuku stared up at the Hero Killer with gritted teeth, shocked that he was conscious and standing upright.
"That night, he even saved me from the flying Nomu. He's a maniac, but he doesn't destroy things just because it sounds fun." Izuku stated, lowering his eyes. The USJ flashed through his head. Shigaraki's words entered his mind.
"It's game over for real this time. Let's go home." Shigaraki said.
"And when things were looking bad for him, he didn't abandon his mission like you did. Even if the way he acted was wrong, he held true to his beliefs. That's the difference." Izuku said, glaring back at Shigaraki. Shigaraki stared back at him with piercing eyes, making Izuku tense up. The air around Shigaraki changed, feeling a chill go down his spine.
"Ah… That's like a weight off my chest. I see it now… All the dots connected. Why he makes me so angry, why you irritate me so much-" Shigaraki said, causing Izuku to squirm.
"Everything makes sense." Shigaraki said, smiling creepily, "It's him. The problem is All Might." He said, hearing Izuku gasp. He couldn't believe how blind he was, feeling his spirit get reinvigorated.
"Yeah, yeah. That's it. That's the most rational explanation." Shigaraki said, chuckling maniacally. He lifted his head up and stared at the countless number of citizens walking around them.
"Hehe. I didn't see it, even though it was right in front of me the whole time. What was I worrying about so much? It's simple. He's why these morons are able to smile thoughtlessly!" Shigaraki said, tightening Izuku's grip. Izuku flinched at his grip, feeling his air running out. He couldn't breathe.
"Grk-" Izuku groaned, wanting to desperately break free.
"They feel so safe because that garbage pro is smiling thoughtlessly, too, as if there's no one in the whole world he can't save." Shigaraki continued, feeling grateful for Izuku's insight, "Oh, I'm glad we had this chat." He said.
"I feel better. I can't thank you enough, Midoriya. I don't need to change my ways after all." Shigaraki smiled, watching Izuku raise his hands up. He spotted his hands and squeezed him even tighter, causing Izuku's eyes to dilate. Shigaraki chuckled at his predicament, wishing he'd try to fight back.
"Whoops, don't struggle, now. Unless you want to die. You want all these people here to crumble as well?" Shigaraki threatened, forcing Izuku to remain still. He complied and dropped his hands down, closing his eyes with fear.
"You know, it's really ironic, Hero Killer. I'm your opposite, but you let me live. And now your ideals and convictions will become a stepping stone for me." Shigaraki thought.
"HEY!" Bakugo yelled from the third floor.
"Kacchan?" Izuku thought, recognizing the voice. Shigaraki heard the shout from upstairs and got distracted, looking up at the third floor railing. As soon as he looked up, their eyes made contact. He saw the long green hair and recognized the face of the girl looking down at him. Ami Midoriya. Whoever it was that shouted at him was long gone. All he could see was just her scared face, making him smile even wider.
"There you are…" Shigaraki thought, staring up at her.
"Uh, Deku…" Ochaco said, getting Izuku and Shigaraki's attention. He looked back down and noticed a different girl was standing about twelve feet away from them. She had a nervous expression on her face, not yet recognizing who he was with.
"is that a friend? No, that can't be right." Ochaco said, feeling her stomach churn with dread. She made eye contact with the hooded man and instantly recognized him from the USJ, making her tremble.
"Uh, hey. Let go of him..." Ochaco whispered, trying to find the strength to talk louder.
"This is nothing, everything's fine! Stay back! No closer!" Izuku shouted, warning her as best he could.
"Oh, you were here with a friend?" Shigaraki smiled, letting go of Izuku's neck. Izuku felt the pressure release from his neck and started coughing, feeling air enter his throat. Shigaraki raised his hands up and smiled at the girl, "I didn't know. Sorry about that." He apologized. He stood up off the bench and whispered loud enough for Izuku and Ochaco to hear.
"If you try following me, I'll get angry." Shigaraki whispered, walking off past Ochaco. Ochaco gulped and heard Izuku coughing in the bench, getting her immediate concern.
"Deku!" she said, rushing up to his side. Izuku held onto his own throat and continued coughing, hearing Shigaraki's footsteps. He couldn't let him go just yet. There was something he needed to ask first.
"Hold on, Shigaraki." Izuku said, finding enough strength to say a few words. Shigaraki heard his voice and stopped, leaning his head a bit to the side.
"I have a question, too. What is All For One after?" Izuku asked, surprising Shigaraki.
"Now who told you his name?" Shigaraki thought, pausing.
"Who knows, really. But here's a little word of advice, friend. Be careful. The next time we meet, I'll likely have to kill you. And your sister, too." Shigaraki warned, disappearing into a crowd of bystanders.
"Deku!" Bakugo shouted, approaching the scene from the right side. He ran towards Deku and Meteor Girl with an intense glare. Ami quickly arrived seconds after, rushing straight towards Izuku with tears in her eyes.
"Izzy!" Ami cried, running towards Izuku. She jumped on the bench and sat on her knees, hugging Izuku on his right side.
"Are you okay? He didn't touch you, did he?" Ami whimpered, feeling tears fall down her eyes in fear. Izuku recovered in Ami's arms, breathing rapidly, like he just had a nightmare. The experience caused Izuku to sweat all over his body, but Ami didn't care. She held onto him as if her life depended on it.
"I'm fine." Izuku muttered, coughing up his own saliva. Bakugo stared at Deku with a glare covered in shock, panting lightly. He ran down three flights of stairs without stopping. Habanero did the same. He could see her chest bobbing up and down, hiding her exhaustion. A mix of thoughts ran through his mind as he stared at Habanero and Deku. She was crying her eyes out with Deku in her arms. Deku was struggling to stop coughing, but he was fine. Bakugo took a deep breath and gritted his teeth in rage. Deku almost died. And he didnt do anything to stop it.
"Damnit." Bakugo thought, looking at Deku's throat. He could see where the villain's hand was. Deku's neck was red there. As he stood there, the mall cop from upstairs finally caught up with Bakugo.
"Hey, what's going on here?" The mall cop questioned, wondering what all the ruckus was about. Bakugo heard the old man's voice and scowled, glaring back at the mall cop.
"Some freak in a hoodie just tried to kill that nerd." Bakugo said, yelling at the cop. The cop looked at Bakugo in disbelief before turning his eyes on Izuku. He could see the red mark on his throat as two young girls comforted him on both sides. He pulled out his walkie talkie and took Bakugo's words as the truth.
"Security, we've got a possible villain in the area. Get as many units as you can here." The mall cop said, talking through his walkie talkie. He looked at the young girls comforting the green boy and asked them for directions.
"Did you see where he went?" The mall cop asked, receiving an answer from the brown haired girl.
"Uh, that way." Ochaco said, pointing her finger at the direction behind her. The cop kept his walkie talkie close and pulled out a whistle. He blew on it and alerted everyone to his presence, causing them to stop and stare. He ran after the villain in the direction Ochaco pointed and took off, leaving Izuku and them behind. Izuku panted heavily, recovering slightly from the intense situation.
"Ami…" Izuku muttered, making eye contact with her. His chest was pounding still, seeing Shigaraki grab hold of her face in his head. It was horrifying, making him hold her more tightly. Hearing her cries and loud sniffles helped his heart calm down. She was here. She was safe. The villain didn't touch her. Ami frowned and leaned her head on his shoulder, keeping him close as the villain's face appeared in her head.
"Izzy, I saw him… He looked right at me. I was so scared." Ami stuttered, shivering in fear. His creepy smile was still fresh inside her mind and it wouldn't go away.
"..." Bakugo stared at the twins with narrowed eyes. He turned his focus towards the direction the villain went and wanted to go after him, but he knew he couldn't. He could do nothing but let the authorities deal with it now. He flared his nostrils and clenched his fists in frustration.
"Damnit." He growled.
Parking Lot
Shigaraki entered the parking lot and opened the back door of a red van, stepping inside in silence.
"Done shopping?" Kazan asked, looking at the back with an annoyed expression. Shigaraki ignored his comment and took a seat in the back, putting his hoodie down.
"Get us out of here before the cavalry arrive." Shigaraki warned him calmly. Kazan raised his eyebrow at his command and nodded, turning the van's engine on.
"What meaning is there to killing if you don't have real convictions?" Stain's voice echoed through Shigaraki's head.
"I had convictions and ideals from the beginning, Hero Killer. I just didn't know. Nothing has changed. The only real difference is now I know what I'm working toward. To create a world without All Might and to prove how fragile society's sense of safety really is." Shigaraki thought, smiling in the back of the van.
"That's what drives me. From this day forward, I will call it my conviction." Shigaraki said, holding his mask in his hand.
"There is only one man I'll let kill me. The true hero among you fakes. All Might is worthy!" Stain shouted in his head.
"Everything is All Might's fault." Shigaraki smiled, feeling like he's just solved a puzzle.
Later
"Uraraka reported the incident and the shopping mall was temporarily closed. The heroes and police in the area conducted a massive sweep, but they couldn't find Shigaraki." Ami narrated.
"Later that day, the Police took Izuku and I to the station. Mr. Tsukauchi interviewed Izuku. He told him everything he could about Shigaraki's appearance and the conversation they had." Ami narrated, sitting beside Izuku. Tsukauchi held the notes he took in his hand with understanding. He attached it to a clipboard and looked over them, rubbing the side of his ear with his pen.
"Huh. From what I'm hearing, it sounds like they're not a monolithic organization. And it sounds like his desire to defeat All Might hasn't changed a bit." Tsukauchi stated, looking over at the twins. They still had completely shook expressions on their faces, making him feel sorry for having interviewed him so soon after the encounter. He knew it had to be done, though. And judging by the look on Izuku's face, he also knew it had to be done.
"Anyway, thanks for the report, Midoriya. This helps." Tsukauchi stated, feeling grateful. Izuku and Ami looked up at the detective and nodded.
"Oh, sure..." He said, staring down at the floor. Ami glanced at Izuku's face and noticed his frown, causing her to frown as well. She could tell he was feeling regret for not doing much. She knew what happened, she was listening to Izuku's account with Tsukauchi.
"I just wish there was some way I could've detained him." Izuku admitted, confirming Ami's thoughts. She turned her head towards him and sniffled, placing her hand on his shoulder.
"You did your best, Izzy." Ami said with a sympathetic smile. Izuku glanced at her and let a tiny smile form on the right side of his lips, getting her attention. Even now, he was so happy to see her.
"She's right. You did a great job holding it together when so many lives were on the line." Tsukauchi agreed, nodding at Ami's assistance. He leaned forward with a smile, waving his pen around.
"Most people would've panicked and lost their cool in that situation. No one got hurt today because you were able to remain calm." Tsukauchi said, proud of the boy's bravery. Izuku nodded, relaxing a bit in his seat. Tsukauchi's words had an impact on him, making him feel better about how things went down.
"Thank you, Sir!" Izuku stated, bowing his head at him in respect.
"Thank you, Sir." Ami said, doing the same. With the interview over, Tsukauchi stood up and motioned for them to follow him. They exited the room and headed towards the side door, exiting the station through the alleyway. The twins followed close behind Tsukauchi as they entered the alleyway, suddenly hearing a voice call out to them to their left.
"Young Izuku, Ami! Tsukauchi!" All Might hollered, getting the twins attention. Tsukauchi and the twins faced the alleyway and watched as All Might appeared in his deflated form. The twins made eye contact with All Might and gasped, letting smiles form on their faces.
"All Might!" Ami said, making eye contact.
"All Might, but how?" Izuku asked, not expecting to see All Might here. All the media knew about the mall was that there was a possible villain scare. He never told All Might about the trip to the mall, either.
"I needed to talk to him anyway." Tsukauchi stated, quickly answering Izuku's question before he could even ask. Ami heard his words and assumed Tsukauchi must have told him what happened.
"What a relief. I'm so glad you two are okay." All Might smiled, placing his hand on both of their heads.
"I'm sorry I couldn't be there to protect you and the others." All Might apologized, receiving a frown from the twins.
"It's fine." They said in unison. An awkward silence filled the alleyway, giving the twins time to think. Ami stared at the floor, clasping her hands together behind her back with a frown. She could see Shigaraki's smile every time she closed her eyes, making her flinch. Even though she was on the third floor and he was on the ground floor, it was like Shigaraki also had a hand on her neck. Seeing him sit there with his hand on Izuku sent chills down her spine. It really bothered her. What would've happened if Ochaco didn't show up before she and Bakugo did? She knew everything Shigaraki said to Izuku thanks to the interview. The question frightened her to no end.
"Um, All Might…" Izuku said, sounding hesitant. The question got everyone's attention. Ami glanced at Izuku and looked at him in confusion. All Might and Tsukauchi did the same.
"Yeah, what is it?" All Might asked.
"Do you ever have times when you can't save all the people that you want to?" Izuku asked, causing All Might to pause. Ami looked at All Might as a serious expression appeared on his face.
"Yes, I do. And often." All Might answered, truthfully. Ami and Izuku looked at All Might with frowns, sympathizing with him. All Might closed his eyes and sighed, staring up at the night sky.
"Someone could be injured and calling out for my help anywhere in the world right now, and I would never know about it." All Might said, making the twins tense up.
"I know it's frustrating, but we're only human. There are always gonna be people beyond our reach that we can't protect. But that's all the more reason to stand tall and smile. So that the "Symbol of Justice" is always there. Even when I can't be, a flicker in people's hearts, whether they be a hero or a villain." All Might stated, getting a smile from Tsukauchi.
"The kid's worried about what Shigaraki said. But that was likely the villain's resentment talking. All Might here has never failed to save someone after arriving at an emergency." Tsukauchi said, getting the twins attention. The detective's words made them feel a lot better. He was right. The day was saved whenever All Might was on scene.
"Think we've got everything we need, so you're good. We're all done here." Tsukauchi smiled, looking at the twins. They nodded in understanding, feeling a lot calmer than before.
"Izuku? Ami?" A soft female voice called out to them from the street. The voice caused Ami and Izuku to tense up, recognizing the concerned voice. The turned and faced the entrance to the alleyway, making eye contact with their mother.
"Mom?" The twins said in surprise. Inko rushed over to them in a hurry, nearly tripping over herself in emotion.
"My babies!" She said, standing in front of them. She grabbed their hands and stared into their eyes, checking up on them with tears. Ami and Izuku stared at the tears in their mom's eyes and frowned, feeling their hearts racing with guilt.
"I can't do this anymore. I don't think my heart can handle another scare." Inko stated, letting go of their hands. She felt her tears run faster down her face and pulled out a tissue, wiping her tears with them. Inko's legs were wobbling in distress. Ami and Izuku frowned and grabbed onto her shoulders, pulling her closer towards them with sympathy. They looked at her with smiles, keeping her steady and attempting to calm her down.
"Mom-" Ami said.
"-We're sorry." Izuku interjected.
"Everything's fine." They both said in unison, apologizing for making her worry for them.
"Don't cry, Mom. We're okay." Ami said, holding herself together.
"The heroes and the police have been taking really good care of us all night." Izuku assured, looking at the officers. Izuku glanced at Tsukauchi and then looked at All Might in his peripheral vision. Ami had done the same, realizing that All Might was still standing behind them. The twins didn't falter, though. They're main goal was to comfort their crying mother.
"All Might's still in his deflated form. There's no way she'll recognize him." Ami thought, looking at her mother's tears. She pulled her into a hug, putting her chin on her mother's right shoulder. Izuku did the same, placing his chin on Inko's left shoulder, joining in the hug. All Might getting discovered wasn't a worry for them. All Might looked at the twins and their mother and took a step back with Tsukauchi, giving the family space. He looked at their crying mother in deep thought, tilting his head a bit. Now he knew where Ami got her hairstyle from, making him crack a tiny smile at the thought.
"She looks like you, too, Master…" All Might thought, thinking about Nana Shimura. Her hairstyle was a little different, but mostly similar. Tsukauchi stared at the family and turned his attention towards the officer that escorted their mother here.
"Sansa. Make sure they get home safe." Tsukauchi ordered.
"Sir." Sansa complied, giving the detective a salute. A short few minutes later, Ami, Izuku, and their mom left the police station via police car. All Might and Tsukauchi watched them leave the station, satisfied with the situation. Things could've gone differently today, making All Might happy to see the twins were okay.
"This time, at least, it appears to have been a coincidental meeting. But there's still a pretty big possibility that the twins or another student will be targeted in the future." Tsukauchi warned, looking at All Might with narrowed eyes of concern. All Might nodded in agreement, keeping a solemn expression.
"Of course, we'll continue to be on high alert here, but the school should be ready to take drastic measures. The stronger the light shines, the greater the darkness. I think that, for the good of the students, you should consider leaving UA, All Might." Tsukauchi said, looking at All Might with a serious expression. All Might flinched at his recommendation, not expecting to hear it.
"But I've barely gotten started. I mean, it's only been three months of teaching." All Might said, making Tsukauchi scoff in amusement.
"Heh. I told you before that you weren't cut out for it." Tsukauchi stated, making All Might grumble.
"All For One again. This time we have to capture him." Tsukauchi stated, making All Might flare his nostrils in agreement.
"One more fight." All Might whispered, looking up at the sky, "I'm counting on you again, Tsukauchi." He said.
"Yeah." Tsukauchi replied, thinking about everything Izuku said to him about Shigaraki's words. There was one part in particular about Izuku's memory that intrigued the detective. It was a surprise for him to hear, at least.
"He mentioned the attack on the Museum. And then told Izuku he was mourning. His cat died…" Tsukauchi thought, thinking about the Cat Nomu. The way Shigaraki had worded it, according to Izuku's memory, implied the Nomu was dead. He narrowed his eyes in deep thought, making him frown.
"The League thinks the Nomu is dead. Which means they don't have it anymore…" Tsukauchi thought, placing a hand on his chin.
"They don't have it anymore…And neither do we…" Tsukauchi thought. The Nomu's body was recovered from the Museum, but it was lost soon after. Tsukauchi feared another villain breakout and kept the story hidden from everyone.
"This doesn't make any sense. If the League doesn't have the Nomu anymore, then…Who does?" He thought, keeping this information to himself.
One Week Later
"Dinners ready! Izuku. Ami." Inko said, opening the door to Izuku's room. The twins were helping each other workout in Izuku's room again. They paused their exercising and looked at Inko with smiles.
"Okay, Mom. We'll be there soon." Izuku said, nodding in appreciation. Inko smiled at them and nodded back.
"Don't wait too long. Oh, I almost forgot." Inko said, pulling a letter out of her bib. Ami and Izuku stopped what they were doing and looked at the letter in confusion.
"This came in the mail, today. It's for you, dear." Inko said, handing the letter to Ami. Ami stared at the letter and grabbed hold of it, carefully inspecting it. There was an object inside that was slightly bigger than the letter itself, giving it a noticeable circular bulge. She raised her eyebrow at the letter, confused by it.
"Who's it from?" Izuku asked, staring at the letter in Ami's hand. Ami read the front of the letter and realized it was from the Museum, making her eyes widen in surprise.
"This is from the Quirk Museum!" Ami said, smiling with newfound excitement. Izuku crawled beside her and checked out the front of the letter with his own smile.
"Does this mean it's from Mr. Imiter?" Izuku asked, glancing at Ami. Ami nodded and stood up off the floor, walking over to Izuku's desk. Izuku stood up with her and stared at the letter, looking at each other with smiles.
"Well this seems vaguely familiar." Ami commented, feeling a sense of nostalgia. They were both staring at the letter on Izuku's desk, recalling what it was like receiving their acceptance letter to UA High.
"Well, let's open it." Ami said.
"Together." Izuku said, receiving a nod from Ami. The two of them ripped opened the letter dropping its contents onto the desk with a thud. Almost instantly, the device turned on, creating a hologram in the room.
"Woah!" Ami and Izuku exclaimed, reeling back in surprise. A loading screen popped up with an automated message.
"This is an automated holographic message from Hosu City's Quirk Museum. Please listen." An automated voice said, quickly projecting the Museum logo. Ami and Izuku got situated and composed themselves, awaiting what was to come from the device.
"Is this thing on?" Wyvern questioned, appearing as a hologram. He held a spherical camera in his hand and stared stoically at the device. Ami and Izuku recognized Wyvern immediately, letting out a gasp and a smile.
"Yes." Mr. Imiter said in the background.
"Hey, Ames!" Wyvern waved, appearing stoic, "I told you I'd come up with something and here it is." He stated, receiving a nod from Ami.
"First of all, surprise. I'm back in Hosu." Wyvern said, shrugging his shoulders with a stoic face, "I know I said I was heading back to Okinawa, but I had a very good reason to come back here." Wyvern explained, raising his finger. Ami watched as Wyvern fumbled with the Spherical Camera as he attempted to spin it around.
Did that work?" Wyvern asked, his hologram disappearing.
"You suck at holding it." Fuego stated, appearing out of Wyvern's shoulder. The quirk's comment made Ami giggle. New holograms appeared on the device seconds afterward, revealing them to be Mr. Imiter and Misaki. Ami stared at them with a joyful smile, seeing the happy smiles on their faces.
"Bonjour, Ami. It's good to see you, even though we actually can't." Imiter waved with a smile. Ami looked at Mr. Imiter and nodded in amusement before noticing the baby in Misaki's arms, causing her to gasp. She remembered meeting Misaki in Imiter's office, recalling the experience of touching Misaki's belly.
"The baby! She gave birth. Look, Izzy!" Ami exclaimed, grabbing Izuku's shoulder and shaking him with her right hand. She pointed at the holographic baby with her left hand in excitement. Izuku didn't mind getting shook and laughed, smiling at Ami.
"Yeah." Izuku nodded in response, remembering when Ami told her about Misaki. He didn't actually get to meet her when he was in the Museum. Ami looked at the holographic baby in Misaki's arms and clenched her fists, gushing at the holographic baby.
"So cuuute!" She exclaimed, internally.
"Ami, thank you so much for saving my Husband's life." Misaki said, glancing up at Imiter. He was standing behind her with his hand placed on her shoulder. Misaki was in a wheelchair and a hospital gown, implying to Ami and Izuku that her child's birth was recent. Imiter stared at the camera and bowed his head in respect, blowing air out of his nose.
"Ami, thank you. It's because of you I've gotten to see the birth of our beautiful daughter." Imiter said, pulling Misaki close. Wyvern zoomed into the baby's face at an obnoxiously close-up shot.
"Aww." Ami gushed, looking at the baby with a smile. Ami didn't mind the close shot. She was sleeping in her mother's arms in peace and quiet, making Ami's heart grow bigger. She was so happy for the married couple, wondering what her name was. To her surprise, the answer came quick.
"Ami, I'd like you to meet, Ami." Mr. Imiter introduced, "Named after the hero who saved her daddy's life." Imiter explained, smiling down at the little Ami in Misaki's arms. Ami stared at the hologram in shock, letting out a breathtaking gasp. Her mouth dropped open in surprise, causing her to cover it with both hands. She felt her whole body get goosebumps as her heart skipped a beat at the revelation.
"Ami…Ami?" Ami squeaked, squinting her eyes as tears started falling down them. Izuku looked at her facial expression and put his hand on her shoulder and comforted her, smiling at her reaction. Ami let the tears fly out of her as Izuku gave her comfort, leaning on his arm with joy.
"They named the baby after me!" Ami cried with joy, feeling her emotions get the better of her. Wyvern turned the camera back around, reappearing as a hologram.
"How about that? Stop crying, though, cuz that wasn't the gift." Wyvern said, cracking a tiny stoic smile. He knew exactly what Ami was likely doing after hearing the baby's name.
"The Health Syndicate has recognized your achievements in keeping the Museum safe and have decided to make you an unofficial honorary member. In name only, so don't send any of your bills to us." Wyvern said, making this part brief.
"Wow. An unofficial honorary member, whatever that means." Izuku stated, giving Ami praise. Ami stared at the screen and wiped the tears off her eyes, but they still didn't stop coming out.
"In addition to this not-made-up title, the Health Syndicate would like to reward you with an all-access ticket to the Expo taking place on I-Island. If you don't know what that is, look it up." Wyvern stated. Ami heard his words and pulled away from Izuku with wide eyes. Izuku did the same and stared at Ami in surprise.
"I-Island!" They both exclaimed, staring at each other in shock. They both continued to stare at the holographic Wyvern with excited smiles.
"That ticket lets you partake in tours, rides, and shows that'll take place on the island. It's also opening up to the public soon so it's sure to be a memorable experience." Wyvern said, reading stoically off what he totally didn't write on his wrist. On cue, the device opened up like a cash register, revealing two tickets inside.
"And since I know you'd probably want your brother to come along I managed to get a hold of another ticket. You're welcome." Wyvern said, making Izuku smile.
"Wow!" Izuku exclaimed, staring at the tickets.
"Bring something nice to wear by the way, you and your brother are invited to the opening night party. See ya soon, Ames. Oh, and better head over there fast, cuz by the time you get this message, the party'll be tomorrow." Wyvern said, waving goodbye. The hologram disappeared and the device turned off, leaving Ami and Izuku in his room in silence.
"A party?" Izuku questioned, looking at Ami in surprise.
"Something nice?" Ami questioned, looking at Izuku in surprise.
"Tomorrow!?" They both shouted in unison, placing their hands on their heads in shock. They quickly composed themselves and headed out of Izuku's room.
"Hey, Mom…" Ami hollered, entering the hallway with Izuku close behind.
Bakugo Residence
Bakugo laid in bed, staring up at the ceiling. That incident at the mall was still in his mind. He twisted and turned in bed, recalling his thoughts when he first looked downstairs. That villain had his hand on Deku. He was this close to dying and he couldn't do anything about it. That seriously pissed him off. He groaned in frustration, feeling something he didn't expect to feel. Guilt. Why did he feel so guilty? Was it because he didn't stop the villain?
His phone vibrated on his nightstand, getting his attention. He got a message, making him narrow his eyes. He looked at the time on his clock and scoffed, grabbing his phone. It was a message from Habanero, making his shoulders tense up. He raised his eyes and opened the message.
"Kacchan, you won't believe what happened!" Habanero texted, immediately sending a picture afterwards. Bakugo looked at the photo and raised his head off his pillow. He sat in bed in surprise, seeing two tickets on his phone.
"We got tickets to go to I-Island! You know what that is, right?" Habanero texted, making Bakugo roll his eyes.
"I know what that is." He texted.
"Isn't it amazing!?" Habanero texted. Bakugo could hear her voice now. He could see the smile on her face as she texted him, making a tiny smile form on his lips. She was happy, which made him happy. He sighed and turned his phone off, letting the smile drop on his face. She was going to I-Island, making him frown in disappointment. He looked back at his nightstand and stared at a pair of tickets. They were also for I-Island. He narrowed his eyes and grabbed the tickets, staring at them in his hand. He had his own, but he also had an additional one, making him grunt in disappointment.
"Now who the hell am I going to bring?" Bakugo thought. His plan to invite Habanero failed before it began. Now she had her own tickets and Deku was coming with her. His flight was in the morning. Who the hell else would he bring now?
An Unknown Skyscraper
"Hmm, you seem oddly happy today, Master. Is it because the League of Villains roster continues to grow steadily?" The Doctor asked, staring at his master in his chair.
"That's not why, Doctor." The Master coughed, staring at a wall of monitors. He leaned his head on his hand, staring at the monitor with a smile on his disfigured face. On the monitors, he watched Tomura at the bar, talking with the group. Their talks had gone through. The three new recruits were officially apart of the League now, making his lips curve upward at Tomura's progress.
"It's because Tomura Shigaraki has finally found his conviction. The League of Villains needs people who will get behind his principles." He explained, continuing to watch him through the monitors. There were tons more monitors with different locations on them.
Unknown Facility
The facility was dark with barely any light shining in from the outside. No one could look inside, the windows were too high up. And the building was too inconspicuous, no one would think anything of it.
There were pods all over the facility, rows and rows of pods filled with liquid. Inside each and every one of these pods was a figure, laying dormant. At the top of their pods, the monsters' brains were all exposed.
"I'll leave all of the decisions to him for now. If he asks for help, then of course, I'll step in and guide him. That's not a problem, as I see it." He said.
"In fact, I've been waiting for the day when he seeks my aid. I'm preparing for him to become the next me. My successor." All For One smiled, staring at the Nomu facility through the other monitors.

SEASON 3
Author's Notes: Extremely Important
Hello, everyone! Welcome to the Season 2 Finale! After 3 whole years, we finally made it! I'm so proud to finally not have to write season 2 anymore. What a nightmare season full of arcs and danger. After so many sicknesses, college delays, and personal tragedy, I have accomplished what I set out to do in the beginning of 2021. Complete season 2. Unfortunately, it took 3 years later to actually finish it. Thank you to everyone who stood by and waited years just to see the end of the seaaon. Now, we move on to the first movie and into season 3. I'm excited to get started writing. Happy Easter and April Fools, it's time to get into what happened in this chapter.
Starting the chapter off, we follow the main episode with Shigaraki getting introduced to Toga and Dabi along with a new character, Isora Kaginawa. This section isn't majorly different from how the canon went, mostly because this scene wouldn't really change. Even with someone more competent than Isora, Shigaraki would still want them dead. Just like in Canon, Shigaraki storms off and leaves the bar. This time, however, he takes Kazan with him. The changes in this section were minimal just like the changes in the next section. The inclusion of this scene was to introduce Isora. She'll be playing a role in the next season along with Kazan.
In the next section, we return to UA High. This scene also follows the events of the main episode but with Ami added in there comforting Mina. The departure from canon here is that Bakugo is still thinking about his feelings towards Ami. He gets distracted everytime he looks at her and its starting to become more noticeable. Most importantly, unlike in canon, Bakugo actually accepts the invitation to the mall. Only because Ami wanted him to. Except for Bakugo accepting the invite, changes were once again minimal. This section needed to stay in the chapter since it set up the next half of the chapter. I couldn't just randomly have the story begin at the mall scene after all.
Next section, we're in the mall. Bakugo meets with the twins and the way we're introduced to the mall setting is a little different. Iida gets new lines that give attention to being model students. It was mostly because Bakugo was there now. We get the canon lines sprinkled in this part along with Ami and Bakugo wondering what Mineta had planned for this trip. Just like in canon, the group splits apart. Ami decides to go with Kirishima which means Bakugo follows her, too. Izuku is then left alone with Ochaco before also getting ditched by her due to her own newly learned romantic feelings.
This next scene is something that had to stay in the story. Shigaraki running into Izuku is a necessary moment in the main series that is called back to in later episodes. I couldn't just skip their conversation in my story. The lines in this scene stay pretty much the same except for one moment in their conversation. Shigaraki brings up Ami and asks for her whereabouts which naturally freaks Izuku out. We get a protective Izuku moment here with him telling Shigaraki that he deserved to get burned because he was about to kill Ami. Shigaraki gives him props for being protective and tells him that choosing her wasn't personal. He could've picked Tsu like in canon. It's just that he saw Ami first. He then asks Izuku if she still fears him to which Izuku responds that she doesn't even give him a second thought. Something that pisses off Shigaraki more but also causes him to return to the discussion about the Hero Killer.
Next section, we follow Ami, Kirishima, and Bakugo upstairs. Ami is shopping with Bakugo standing nearby while she considers buying a hat. She teases Bakugo and tries to put the hat on him which makes him feel feelings again. She gives up and buys the hat for herself, leaving Bakugo to deal with his inner thoughts once more. This next scene focusing on Bakugo's inner thoughts is a small sequel to Bakugo's inner thoughts from the last chapter. This time including a reexamination of what he was thinking during chapter 36. Now that he knows what his feelings towards Ami are, he's starting to realize how important her safety is to her. We also get a look at what Bakugo was thinking during the locker room scene. At first, he only helped Izuku because he thought he had enough of listening to Mineta's perverted personality and wanted him to shut up. After confirming his feelings, however, he realizes that he just didn't want Mineta to get a peek at Ami's body.
This is pretty much when he realizes that he's super in love with Ami. Thankfully, he's not a pervert like Mineta. He acknowledges that Ami is attractive but it's not really what got him interested in her in the first place.
I realize the metaphor might've been confusing, but I didn't really know how else to write it. Bakugo's feelings are driven by Ami's personality and her smile. Bakugo is the car in this metaphor. His feelings towards Ami is the driver. And her attractiveness is represented by a friendly hitchhiker picked up on the side of the road. The hitchhiker being the passenger that gives the driver company. Hopefully, I explained that a little bit better.
Anyways, like I said, this scene is meant to drive home the romance subplot. Bakugo doesn't know how to deal with these feelings for Ami. Not only that, he doesn't believe Ami feels the same way for him. In a way, he's right and wrong. He's right that Ami doesn't feel the same way. But he's wrong because Ami does feel the same way she just doesn't know it yet. She will pretty soon, though.
Now returning to Ami, she spots a commercial in the electronics stores that feature Uwabami, Yaoyorozu, and Kendo. I just wanted to include this scene for the humor since the rest of the chapter would be pretty serious. Next scene, Kirishima brings up an interesting scientific question. A question that would probably require a definitive answer from Horikoshi himself.
Now, I'm no biologist, but in a world where babies can get powers the moment they're born it's gotta mean that the adaptations for that quirk must develop while they form inside the womb. So, by that logic, I think it's safe to assume that adaptations develop before the quirk factor itself develops. Why would I assume the quirk factor is one of the last things that develops in the womb? Well, think about the babies that aren't born with powers but get them later on at age 2, 3, and 4. This means that for some babies, their quirk factor still needs additional time to actually develop. In real life, they say babies have more bones than adults and that changes when they get older.
That's why I believe you could make the case that the adaptations of the parents' quirks would still pass onto the baby and be one of the first things to develop in the early stage. To get a sense of what I'm saying, think of a chicken inside an egg. Did you know, a chicken fetus actually starts out resembling a dinosaur before it's true form takes shape inside the egg?
Consider Dabi and what we learned from his backstory in season 6, sometimes a child can be born with a quirk that does this, but their body does this instead. I could be very wrong here since I don't know quirk origins other than what we've seen from the anime. So, if special adaptations develop before the quirk factor does, then anyone born quirkless could potentially have something leftover during that development cycle.
Therefore, Izuku could potentially have some leftover adaptations that came from his parents during early development. No, that doesn't mean he has a secret quirk. He doesn't. But he might have the very tiniest piece of a flame organ somewhere inside him. If quirk factors form near the final stage of development, then being quirkless essentially negates the purpose of these adaptations. Basically, why continue to develop adaptations to something your DNA has decided won't happen?
Then again, every example of someone we've seen quirkless in the series is shown to look like people in real life. They have no physical differences other than their pinky toes. This probably means you're gonna look human whether or not your parents look like a pencil and an eraser. I guess if what I'm saying is true, then you could make the case that no one is truly quirkless in the world. If the quirkless still inherit the adaptations of their parents, then are there any actual pure humans in the world left? We don't know how far into the future this series is set in so that might also be the case. It's confusing, but once again, I'm no biologist. Honestly, this probably makes Eri's quirk even more valuable as a way to return humanity to a time with no quirks. Like Overhaul said, if you use Eri right she probably could turn a chicken into a dinosaur.
Maybe some of you have your own thoughts about quirk genetics. Please tell me what you think in your reviews. Does the manga go into quirk origins more and if they do, is there any explanation of quirk factor development inside a womb? I can't imagine there would be, but who knows? I still can't afford to own the manga. :(
Anyways, Bakugo denies the possibility altogether while Ami takes comfort in it. Honestly, in a world of quirks, does knowing that your brother could've been like you with nearly the same quirk be something you would find comforting? For Ami, I would think it does since it meant they really could've been twin heroes in a better world. I'd like to know what y'all think about that.
Moving on, Bakugo spots Izuku on the ground floor with Shigaraki. He recognizes Shigaraki and yells to get his attention before leaving Ami behind to go after Shigaraki. I was very careful when writing this scene that, by the time Shigaraki looks up at the third floor, Ami would be there in Bakugo's place. It's important for later on that Shigaraki does not see Bakugo at the mall. We return to Shigaraki and Izuku's conversation and Bakugo interrupts them right at the end. Shigaraki looks up and spots Ami staring down at him. At the same time, Uraraka shows up. Shigaraki lets Izuku go and leaves the scene. The only canon difference here is that Shigaraki escapes in a red van driven by Kazan. I did consider not including Shigaraki and Izuku's convo into this chapter but it was too important to the overall story that I also just had to keep it.
The same goes for the next section with Tsukauchi. These scenes were too important to cut out. However, one thing to take note of here is the new mystery I added at the end. Ravage will return. Someday.
Finally, we have the end of the chapter. Just like I said in Chapter 35, Wyvern, Imiter, and Misaki make a return. Additionally, I introduced Imiter and Misaki's daughter, Ami Cartier. Technically she is a new character but she's too young to have a personality and she won't have any future appearances so she doesnt count. Some of you probably saw this coming, if you did then congratulations. :)
A little fun fact about this section of the chapter is that, just like when I wrote Ravage's backstory, it was all written years ago. Sort of… There were some changes that had to be made but Ami was always going to be the name given to Imiter's daughter. Wyvern was always going to send Ami a letter via hologram and provide her with tickets to I-Island. And Bakugo was always going to want to invite Ami.
Yes, now that Season 2 is complete, I'm writing the first movie. My Hero Academia: Two Heroes will serve as the true season 2 finale for this fic. It's going to adapt the story from the movie while also adding some changes that come as an effect to all the changes made throughout the whole season. The movie will be split into two parts so that we can start season 3 on Chapter 41. The most notable change to the movie is how Izuku learns about going to I-Island. Instead of being told through All Might, Izuku is invited to the expo in part thanks to Ami's heroic acts against Ravage during the Hosu Incident. And as a last hurrah to the romance subplot for season 2, we learn that Bakugo was going to invite Ami to the expo with him instead of Kirishima. Now he can't and we all know who's going with him instead. Wyvern will officially return in the movie. 2 other members of the Health Syndicate will also appear in the movie.
Unfortunately, we didn't reach 100 reviews. But this time, maybe, we can? Season 2 is over, now. Tell me your favorite part of Season 2! What did you like about it that set it apart from canon? Did you enjoy the Original Characters?
Personally, Ami's Final Fall and Genesis are the best chapters in the season. I put a lot of hard work into these two specific chapters and I think I really more than delivered with them. The Ones Who Win was also one of my favorites in terms of romance. Tell me your favorite chapter or moment in the season!
Going the opposite way here, what was the least liked moment in the season? If I had to change anything in the season it would probably be the aftermath to Bakugo getting his wrist broken by Shoji in the Sports Festival. Ami's reaction especially needs more work. The problem with changing that scene is its too important to edit. So, even if I did, I'd have to be very careful with continuity.
As for Original Characters, Wyvern seems to be the breakout star at the moment. Everyone likes Wyvern and it's honestly surprising to me. I didn't think Wyvern would end up so popular with you guys. Same for Ravage. Well, I was hoping people would like Ravage, but the reception towards the Cat Nomu has been completely positive. There's not been one negative comment about Ravage from any of my readers. Thank you so much for giving the OC's a chance and accepting them.
As for reviews, thanks to everyone who posted! I love and appreciate everyone that writes a review. I love hearing about your opinion on the story.
To the first reviewer of Chapter 37, thank you for telling me your thoughts about the chapter. I also can't wait to show everyone how the camping arc unravels. I also can't wait for the romance to unravel in the next season. Bakugo's progression in this chapter is going to be extremely important for the romance subplot. Like I said before, Season 2 was when they realize they have feelings. Season 3 is when it happens. Stay tuned for that one!
To my second reviewer, thank you for liking the story and what I'm doing with it. As for your last question, you already know the answer to that after reading this chapter. Yes, I'm writing the first movie. Second and Third movie, however, is still up for debate.
And to the third reviewer, Wow! Thank you so much for reading. Going from Chapter 1 to 37 in one day is insane. I'm glad you're so entranced and invested in my story. Thank you for your kind comments regarding Ami and Bakugo's development. Ami still has room to grow as well as Bakugo. Bakugo's development is accelerating at an even faster rate than canon. I look forward to writing the outcome of that development in season 3.
As for Bakugo getting jealous of someone? Does this chapter count? I don't think the locker room counts, but that's just me. Still too early to decide if that'll happen. I'm not a fan of romance adding in unnecessary drama for the sake of drama. I want to avoid that stuff at all costs. So, no cheating, no scandals, no misunderstandings, none of that.
That's pretty much it for the reviews. I hope you all enjoyed season 2 and all the changes made to canon. Please, leave reviews telling me what you thought of season 2. What did you think about the season? What was your favorite part? What did you think about Bakugo realizing he has feelings towards Ami first? Tell me in your reviews. Anyways, thanks for reading and have a good day!
Next Chapter: Two Heroes Part One!
Important Disclaimer: The movie will be canon to this story and its events will be referenced in season 3.
