Betrothed
This one is set in the Enchanted Forest. An old king tries to talk Snow and David into a marriage between his son and Hanna. She overhears and gets the wrong idea.
Hanna was walking down the hallway towards the kitchen for a snack. She glanced at one of the rooms as she walked by. The door was closed, but she knew her parents were in there. A king from another kingdom requested a meeting with them. Hanna thought about standing outside the door to listen, but knew she probably shouldn't, so she kept walking.
"Absolutely not!"
Hanna stopped and turned around when she heard her dad yelling. She walked closer to the door so she could hear the rest of the conversation.
"She is only 11 years old!" David shouted. "We are not discussing her marriage!"
"Marriage?" Hanna whispered to herself.
"You can leave now." Hanna heard her mom say.
Hanna quickly ran into the room across the hall. She peeked out from behind the door and watched the king walk out of the room. He was so old…was he really asking her parents if he could marry her?
Once he was gone, Hanna went into the other room where her parents still were.
"The nerve of that man. Trying to…"
"David." Snow nodded towards the doorway.
David looked over and saw Hanna. "Hey princess. You didn't hear any of that did you?"
Hanna nodded and walked over to her parents. "Did that man want to marry me?"
"Oh goodness, no," Snow said with a sigh. "He was trying to arrange a marriage between you and his 12 year old son when you both are older."
"Which is not going to happen," David said.
"I agree," Snow nodded. "Children have no business being betrothed to anyone."
"You guys won't pick who I marry someday, right?"
"Of course not, sweetie," Snow told her.
David walked over to his little girl and placed his hands on her shoulders. "Hanna, I only ever want you to get married if you are truly in love."
Hanna smiled. "Okay."
"Come here," David picked her up and held her close. He never wanted her to be caught up in an arranged marriage like he almost was. No one should have to endure that. "You're not even allowed to think about marriage until you're at least 35 though, okay?"
Hanna laughed. "Okay, Dad."
