Stockman woke up, distorted as he palmed his forehead. As he found himself lying on the floor. As he gets up, he finds himself greeted by robots. But instead of attacking him for intrusion, they saluted to him, as if they were actually created by him.
Stockman then sees two statues of him inside a grand office. "It's me?" His confusion turned to excitement when Stockman jumped for joy. "It's me! It worked!"
He then spins around the statue of himself, that looks muscular under a lab coat. And his hair shaved clean. He laughed as he happily skips. "It worked! I am the winner!"
He is also greeted by a woman with Silver hair and lab coat. "CEO Stockman. You have returned from your business transaction."
Stockman took his seat as he laid back and put his feet on the table. "Yes..." He said, being happy that he was preferred to as CEO. Ready to use this position to tale down anyone who gets in his way. "CEO..."
Then he laughs evilly. "Mwah ha ha. Ah ha ha ha." The woman who was supposed to be his assistant followed along. "Ah ha ha ha ha!"
-Unknown-
"Tell me, Kumiko. Is there anything...special about those serums you created?" Talia asked. Standing next to her sister Nyssa as Stockman demonstrates the his creation.
"Here's the thing. According to my associate Stockman. He has been fighting against teenage vigilantes for years. Since then, he has been researching the psychology of adolescents." Kumiko explains Stockman's research.
"The thing is, although they have the skills compared to the old and wary. Such as intelligence, combat, art, and emotional perspective. They were bound to rebel and betray anyone they swore loyalty to."Talia was getting to know where Kumiko was getting at. She then eyes on Nyssa. To her, Nyssa is more like an apprentice than a sister. "All I am saying is that since your students reached the fignting age, you should worry about the fact that some might defect from the League of Shadows." Kumiko continued.
Talia turned to Nyssa again, who said nothing. Nor does she object. All Nyssa does was just nod to Talia. "So based on those experiences from your Earth. Perhaps I should be concerned about the obedience of my students." Talia adds.
Stockman then presents the blue serum to Kumiko, who takes the canister, and shows it to the Al Ghul sisters. "Perhaps your sister shall be the example by testing this serum." Though a bit hesitant when looking at the blue serum canister, Nyssa never shows it to avoid suspicion.
But Talia intervened, cause not once in her life that Nyssa would betray her own sister. "Negative. I have been training Nyssa for years since the day I found her on the street after her mother passed away. She is proven to be an important member of the Al Ghul Clan for her loyalty."
Deep down, Nyssa felt relief. But she knew that will never last long. Talia then decided to test it on someone else. "But perhaps one of my students will give us a better presentation." Talia then turned to one of her five students who bowed to her. "Any volunteers?"
One is an auburn-haired boy with green eyes. And he steps forward to prove himself to the League of Shadows. "I will, Master Talia." He said before kneeling down. And gets up to be injected with the blue serum.
Stockman then steps towards the Shadow, and uses the needle to inject the serum on the teenage boy. Emiko, who was spying from the ceiling, watches as the boy felt the pain.
He fell to the floor as the veins of his skin begin to throb. "Ah! Argh!" He grunted as the pain continued to course to his head. He was sweating until he can no longer sweat. And his skin turned into white scales. Emiko was shocked to see it. Looking from inside the air vents.
"As you can see, Master Talia. The previous kunoichi had been doused into the serum that was combined with the DNA of a snake." Stockman explains, watching as the teenage boy was breathing heavily. "At first, it was a prototype that leads to something more...unique that reverts them back to human. But now, with the refined version using DNA of Patient Zero, codename: Karai, it has the nanites that will give us full control of the mutated." Stockman reveals.
"Of course, there were side effects of pain, heavy breathing..." Stockman paused as he witnessed the serum coming to effect. The boy fell limp as he makes one last breathe. Talia and her associates waited for the right moment. Shado folded her arms, letting out a breath as she feels the impatience, trying to see what happens. "Near death..."
Talia sighed. Disappointment at her own students. Nyssa glanced at her elder sister, who shows no remorse at the boy who was suffering the side effects. As a teacher and swordswoman, yet, she only sees her students as pawns for the survival to the fittest.
Nyssa then turned back to the boy. As he laid in a near-death state. As she watches, her eyes peered. But the boy's shoulder flinched a bit. As if he were an undead awaiting to get up. She wants to check on her comrade, but Talia stops her.
"What's...happening?" Nyssa asked.
Stockman watched in glee. Then the boy rose his face, only his skin is now filled with snake scales, and his eyes are now green. And as he hissed, his fangs were exposed. Like a vampire ready to attack his prey. Nyssa was shocked.
The boy, now infected with the mutagen, charges at Talia. Nyssa didn't like what she was seeing and got in front of her elder sister to defend her. "Sister!" Nyssa shouted. She is unsheathing her sword and uses both hands to hold it across.
The boy's snake fangs clamped onto the blade. Then he transforms his arm into a viper head. And it dives for her face. But Nyssa ducks down and back flips. Just as the mutated boy was violently dashing towards her, Stockman makes the command. "Stop!"
Just like that, the mutant snake boy stopped and back away from Nyssa. Nyssa stood there, astonished. Then she puts her sword back into her sheath. Staring at her now-mutated comrade.
He just stood there, as if none of it happened. "Kneel." Stockman commanded as the boy then turned to Talia and kneeled to her. Impressed, Talia can only give out a small smile on her face. "Impressive."
"What's impressive about the nanites I installed to the serum, is that the commands can also include multiple languages for any reponses necessary." Stockman adds.
"Why eliminating the traitors if you can control them instead? And with the instincts of the snake, they will detect any intruders far faster than wolves." Stockman finishes.
Emiko was done listening and crawls back through the vent tunnels and got outside in the allyway. Where her pet Akita dog, Aki, is waiting. Aki barks happily to see her owner. "Shh. Aki. Quiet down, we can't let anyone suspect us." Emiko pets Aki to calm her down.
Aki was a dog gifted from her maternal grandmother, Kazumi Adachi, the previous leader of the Adachi Clan, when Aki was a puppy at the time. "Good girl." Emiko said to her before using her burner phone to show the recorded video to Donna. Aki sat next to her owner as Emiko wrapped her pet around her for comfort after seeing the terrifying events.
It might take some time, but it will be worth it, even if it meant her mother will call her a diagrace for betraying the League of Shadows. But after her grandmother died of illness, Emiko will never forgive her mother for forsaking honor amongst samurai.
Donna, Kaldur, Megan, Conner, Dick, Wally and Artemis gathered inside the janitor's closet, the only place where there are no cameras.
"At least this way, the Shadows won't hear us." Dick said, leaning his back against the walls, and folding his arms while waiting Emiko. "Gotta thank Zee for the teleportation spell to not let anyone see us walking in." He said. Though Zatanna is not present for the event, Dick texted her to ask for assistance. In return, Zatanna asked him for a souvenir from China since she is visiting relatives in Italy.
Dick looked through his phone to see the text and smiles.
Zee: Better bring me a souvenir when you get back, Boy Wonder.
"Good, you're all here." Emiko appeared out of nowhere. "Gah!" Everyone but Donna and Kaldur jolted to see her like she is a ghost. "Man, can you not do that?!" Wally shouted. But everyone else shushed him. "Shh!"
"Cool it, or we'll all be killed." Emiko whispered to the speedster harshly. Wally nodded nervously.
"What's the status, Emiko?" Kaldur asked.
"Something horrible. While I was doing a bit of digging, I found out what the blue serum is for. Take a look." Emiko showed the Team the video of her findings. And what the blue serum does to people. Not to mention it was added with mind-control nanites.
"So that's what the serum is for." Artemis adds. "This is a whole new level of insane." Wally adds. "That's not all." Emiko said as she forwarded the video and it also shows the mutated boy biting one of his comrades and infecting them to become a snake hybrid.
"Instead of killing them with venom in one bite, they mutate them into another." Dick said.
"One more thing, who is this Stockman guy?" Conner asked. Dick tried to hack into any srtocles related to the name. But none are available. "Huh, there is no one by that name. Whoever he is, he seems...out of nowhere."
"And by out of nowhere, you mean he's been on the run? Changing identities?" Artemis theorizes. "That's a possibility. But we can't rule that out yet." Emiko said.
"What about the purple serum. What does it do?" Asked Donna. Emiko shook her head and said, "He hasn't tested it yet. He only shows the blue serum for now. I have to get back now before Mother finds me gone." Emiko said as she puts her hood on.
"Wait, your mom? What does she have to do with this?" Wally asked.
"That's the reason why we shouldn't be out in the open. She was the one who taught me the ways of the Shadow. But I hardly had any perspective on it. Meet me at Mt. Fuji in Japan for a few days. If I am not here, Nyssa will guide you." Emiko instructed.
"Nyssa? Talia's sister?" Artemis asked. But before they could ask even more questions. Emiko is gone. "Wow, she's good." Wally admits. The others nodded in agreement, acknowledging her ninja vanishing skills.
"Someone's coming!" Megan warned as they heard the doorknob clicked. It was a senior member of the Shadows. He would've called them. Megan made an invisible barrier to not let him see them.
"Thought I heard someone." The Shadow left and closed the door. Megan then let down the barrier, and the teens sighed in relief. "Whew."
"I thought we were done for." Wally panted in a deep breath.
"Now that we know what the blue serum does, what do we do now?" Asked Dick. Aqualad now concludes that the serum has to be destroyed before it can be used to create an army of snake-hybrid ninjas.
"The safer way to put it, we get the serum and take it to the League. Next we find an antidote to prevent any circumstances from happening." Kaldur suggested.
"I need to see something first, just in case." Artemis said as she climbs into the air vent. The others decided to wait. As she knew there is something she had to do.
As Artemis walks through the hallway. The last oerson she had wanted to speak to is her sister, Jade. Who now goes by the name Cheshire. Deep down, Artemis still cares for her older sister, even after she turned into an assassin.
As she walks into the storage room, Artemis closed her eyes to hear the movements surrounding her. Water dripping from the ceiling echoes repeatedly. The whirling sound blowing from the heater.
She snaps her eyes open to aim her bow and arrow at the cat-masked assassin. "Nice. You still haven't lost it yet, sis." Said Cheshire. But then she takes off her mask. "But I suggest you leave this place, now." She said.
Artemis just gave her a small glare. Though angry at her for leaving her and their mother, she cannot bring herself to hate Jade. She only hates Cheshire (the mask to say the least). "Not surprised there. What are you doing here? Last I heard, you and Talia never got along."
"Like I have any choice. As long as Ra's Al Ghul's word is law, so is Talia's." Cheshire said. "I'm surprised the last time we met, your team hadn't kicked you out after... you know what."
"To them, it didn't matter. Getting away from Crusher is the last thing that got me this far. You can still do the same." Artemis told her sister. Cheshire stopped as she stared at her younger sister.
"Things are bad enough as it is. I saw many things. There is no point of turning back. Once you became a shadow, there's no escaping. But I already like this lifestyle. So I guess it was no problem."
"Don't know. For some reason, Red Arrow is worrying about you." Artemis stated. The mention of Red Arrow stunned Cheshire, but she never shows it. Instead, she appeared indifferent. She can only remember the last time she kissed him, but in the end, she feels like he is more than a rival, or an enemy.
"Why would he be?" Asked Cheshire, trying to appear in denial, as usual.
"Wish I knew." Artemis scoffs.
Meanwhile, Dick uses an insect-like probe that is a size of a fly with a camera installed to infiltrate the lab. There, they see Stockman again, this time with strange identical men in suits coming from the triangular portal. "Dude, this is like one of my many nightmares." Wally said.
The Team watches with a tablet seeing everything on camera. "They looked very identical. But why?"
"They're holding onto this radioactive canister of serum. It was enough to replicate them." Dick concluded.
-New York City, Earth-7-
The Purple Dragons (Fong, Tsoi and Sid) were kicked out of the warehouse that was used as a hideout by an unknown gang of teenagers (ages 13-14) after they were ambushed. Teenagers with actual martial arts skills advanced enough to defeat them. Some who are former ninjas that fled the Foot Clan.
They all laughed at them as the leader – a girl with raven hair and dark eyes – held the door high as she looked at them with a teasing smirk. "You wannabes had this coming! New York is now the Red Serpents' turf!" Said the leader before shutting down the door. All the Red Serpents cheered as they finally put the Purple Dragons in their place for making the neighborhood fear them. "I dont see why everyone else feared them when they should fear us! Right Cassie?" Asked a Latino boy with raven hair.
"Yesterday, we were just a bunch of middler schoolers, but today, the Red Serpents are in town." Said the Korean girl with brown hair and pink highlights.
"The Purple Dragons were just a start. The next thing we have to do is wipe scum off the streets." Cassie said as she took out a bite of a pizza slice with pineapple toppings. Since they already ordered 8 pizza boxes, enough for her gang to celebrate forming the Red Serpents.
"What do you propose we do now, boss?" Asked another boy with orange hair. Cassie swallowed her pizza and thought for a moment. "Well, I guess we need to patrol a little bit of the city. Rumor has it that ninjas were running around the place in silence."
And it's not just because Cassie heard of ninjas in New York. But also because her older brother had been out, late on curfew. And whenever he sneaks out. she wonders if he is a ninjas. Or gotten himself into trouble. For as long as Cassie can remember, her brother would come downstairs for breakfast and be covered in bruises.
"My guess is, we need to see if the rumors are true. We need to see ourselves. We cannot assume yet if they are the good guys, or the bad guys. Come on, Toni, Rin. The rest of you, keep guard of this place." Cassie ordered her gang members as they all nodded.
Meanwhile, Dave Chaplin, the middle school student whom Donatello was supposed to be teaching bō staff lessons, was wandering around the city. "I guess he was busy or something. So much for the bō staff lessons." Dave lament.
He first met the purple-banded mutant turtle after Dave was surrounded by Purple Dragons, until Donnie saved him. At first, he asked Donnie to teach him any combat. But he was reluctant at first. But after hearing that his older brother went missing and was nowhere to be found. Donnie agrees.
Dave then bumped into someone he hasn't seen in a long time. It was Cassie Jones. "What are you doing here, Chaplin? Shouldn't you be at home doing homework?" Cassie asked.
"Funny, I...can ask you the same thing." Dave blushed at the sight of Cassie, who now wears a red jacket with a serpent emblem on the back, and her two other friends wearing the same.
"Serious, what are you doing out here in the middle of the night?" Asked Cassie.
"Well, I am meeting with a new friend who is teaching me martial arts." Dave said. That statement caused Cassie to laugh hardly. "Ah ha ha ha ha! You! A nerd being taught martial arts! Man, you have gotten hilarious every day!"
Dave would be offended, but he seems to take her laughter as a nice gesture to think he can make her laugh. He just smiled and blushed red.
"Seriously though, has your brother, been pushing you to do that stuff?" Asked Cassie. Dave rubbed the back of his neck. He hasn't spoken much about what happened since their brothers went to middle school. "No, here's the thing. He has gone missing." Dave sighed.
Cassie blinked in shock. "What? Since when?"
"5 years. Nobody has found him yet. So I was getting some martial arts lessons from a friend in order to learn how to fend off. Cause kids in our age kept disappearing."
Cassie shakes her head, but in agreement to Dave's statement. "You're not wrong. First it was ninjas in New York. Then sightings of chemical canisters, and now New York became a tourist trap of the Supernatural. Too much for us to see tourist around. But on the bright side, Murakami's will not be closing down any time soon. Love the place." Cassie said.
"That reminds me, how's Casey anyway?" Asked Dave.
"Well, he seems to be doing better nowadays. Except for the fact he keeps breaking curfew on late nights. Pretty weird, but he cannot tell me or Dad anything. Not since that so-called best friend of his left the city without apologizing for punching him in the face." Dave felt an ounce of shame hearing this after his brother left the city. "Yeah, sorry about that. I'm glad he's doing fine."
"Um, Cassie...?" Cassie saw Toni looking upward as they see the pruple vortex appearing.
Meanwhile, Talia called Emiko and Nyssa to the lab, where she wants them to tell for any suspicious behaviors.
"You wish to see us, sister?" Nyssa asked. as she and Emiko knelt down to her. Talia turned her eyes to her to see if they can answer for any suspicious behavior.
"Just a little confirmation. After Stockman camento work with us. We noticed some of the students are unfamiliar to us. Do any of you find anything?"
"As much as we don't want to believe it. But we suspected a splinter group working in the shadows and turning some of our comrades against us." Nyssa confirmed. "However, we cannot raise any of those questions, just yet. It must be the work of the League of the Phoenix." Nyssa confirms. Emiko nodded in agreement.
"How can you be sure about this? Never for thousands of years we have a splinter cell group under our nose. Trying to eliminate our father, the great Demon's head." Talia adds. With her hand on her hips.
Many years ago, Kazumi Adachi led a splinter cell group before her passing. Joining the League of Shadows for an undercover mission. To foil the Shadows' missions. Since then, the Adachi became legendary.
Until Kazumi's daughter, Shado turned her clan into the Shadows' allies in order to gain power.
"I just remembered Mother telling me about the splinter cell group. Led by my grandmother, Kazumi. The Demon's Head's sworn enemy. I know you can't trust me because of my lineage. But I assure you, we will find the head of the Phoenix and finish him. For the Shadows and Ra's Al Ghul." Emiko suggested.
"Anyway, you can track them down?" Talia asked.
"Starting with Grandmother's connections to allied clans to see if any of them are involved. Just because Kazumi Adachi passed, it doesn't mean her allies are still active." Emiko stated.
"Very well." Talia nodded. Then she turned to Nyssa. "Nyssa." Nyssa bowed to her. "Yes, sister?"
"You are dismissed, Emiko." Emiko bowed to her briefly before leaving. "Nyssa, stay here for a moment. I need a word with you." Talia said to her sister and second-in-command. Nyssa nodded and stood next to her to watch from the window. To see many volunteers taling the injections to become snake-hybrids.
"Tell me, sister. How was life with us so far?" Asked Talia. Nyssa stood motionless but looked at Talia calmly as she replied.
"Just feeling reborn, Talia. Although Father cannot acknowledge me the way he acknowledge you. You are the one who gave me that chance of a lifetime. Why was it that you took me in when I could've rot in the streets?" Asked Nyssa, part of her is curious to why Talia would take her in.
"For starters, you're just like the others. Purposeless, and lost. But I was like you, a motherless being. At first, to me, you're nothing more than an extension to Father's bloodline. But over time, I grew to trust you. Since we're both sisters. I just saw myself in you. When you trust me, above all else. I felt like there might be a future ahead for you. And the Shadows."
"My mother used to tell me stories about Father before her passing. It came to the point that I couldn't rely on anyone else. Until you come along. Took me in. For the first time, I had experienced what it is like to have a sisterhood. Survival is all I can think of. To teach, and to fight. I believe that being by your side is what matters. Nothing else."
"Many of our brothers and sisters have been fighting for the Shadows for years." Talia then takes Nyssa to a nearby elevator. As it lowers down, they see the skeletons of their half-brothers, and half-sisters on their father's side. "But in the end, they outlived and sacrificed their lives to retain our father's charge in the shadows. We are the only ones left to maintain the Al Ghul legacy. So that the future generations will outlived every human being. The Lazarus Pit will be your reward once Father grants you immortality." Talia places her hand on Nyssa's shoulder. Trying to maintain a comforting side to keep her younger sister on her side.
"Do you understand why we are here, Nyssa?" Talia asked to confirm Nyssa's loyalty to the Shadows. Nyssa knelt to her master and elder sister. The one she once trusted. "For the Demon's head and the Shadows." Talia's voice felt like an invisible grip. There was no point of turning back.
Author's note: A new Gang called the Red Sepents were bow led by Casey's younger sister, Cassie Jones. And her two friends are called Toni, and Rin. Only they are now the gang that protect the streets at night in the wake of New York's battles. And managed to win against the Purple Dragons. Some of the teens were members of the Foot Clan before escaping from Shredder.
Most of the Red Serpents were formed by middle school students. Inspirdd by mysterious vigilantes to keep defenseless people safe. And they want to know more about the ninjas that saved the city.
As for Dave Chaplin, he is a character based on Dr. Chaplin from the TMNT 2003 series. This version of Chaplin in 2012 is a 14-year-old teen genius who is friends with tbe Jones Family, including Cassie (whom he has a crush on). Although sometimes she teases him a lot. Dave mentions he has an older brother gone missing for mysterious reasons. He is also a new apprentice of Donatello due to similar personalities.
