Hello once again readers, I am back!

Hopefully I am back with an improved writing style that fits this site's other fanfics.

I hope everyone had a good New Year's and holidays, after all it's time for new beginnings.

Sorry that this chapter took a long time to get out, it was hard to change my writing style but I think I got it now.

But I think that's about enough ranting from me and I think it's time to start the story!

I don't own Naruto

TEAMS ASSEMBLE

As the morning sun started to rise, the residents of Konoha started to stir awake. Among those residents, groups of children were filled with excitement and anticipation for what is supposed to be a large turning point in each of their lives.

Those children are students of the shinobi academy, a school meant to turn children into ninjas where they honor their village and the residents inside. This day they are no longer part of the shinobi class but now real shinobi. These children must now learn from higher classed shinobi called jōnin. A group of 3 of the children will pair up and will be under the command of a jōnin sensei until they are fit enough to be raised a rank.

A blond, spiky haired boy is among the group of children who passed and became a shinobi. All of those who passed their final exam became shinobi that are ranked at the lowest rank, genin. There are classes filled with children who passed the exam just like the blond.

As a beam of sunlight ran through an opening in a curtain, the beam hit directly on the spiky blond's eyes.

If a normal child had the same experience with the sun then they would soon stir awake, but this is no ordinary child, this is a shinobi!

The spiky blond turned to the opposing side where there was no sun and was engulfed into the sweet relaxation that sleep is. If it wasn't for a small dog-fox hybrid waking up and biting him on the ear then the young blond would have stayed asleep for a majority of the day.

The small orange dogxim* they let out a small bark, "Wake up! You can't sleep in now!"

As the blond slowly stirred awake he let out a small groan. As his eyes slowly opened they revealed two different colored irises, one was sky blue while another was an emerald green. "Haruto...Three more minutes"

The small dogxim let out a growl at his friend's antics, after all this was the moment that he had been talking about for most of his life.

"Hokage-sama, the civilian council has requested a council meeting, it appears they won't take a no for an answer" A shinobi wearing a gray flak jacket with metal arm guards said, his face covered by a porcelain mask with an animal pattern painted on it

As the leader of the village, Hiruzen Sarutobi, opened the door it revealed that he was dressed in a white robe over a red undergarment, signifying his role as the Hokage. His expression remained calm, though he couldn't help but feel a tinge of irritation at the persistent demands from the civilian council.

"Very well, let's not keep them waiting," Hiruzen responded, making his way to the council room, his steps measured and deliberate.

Back at Naruto's apartment, the blond finally managed to shake off the last grasp of sleep. He sat up, looking around his room, and his gaze landed on the small dog-fox hybrid. "Alright, alright, Haruto. No need to get all serious. It's not like we're going to war or anything."

Haruto barked in response, seemingly unamused. Naruto chuckled, ruffling the fur on Haruto's head. "Fine, fine. Let's get going."

As Naruto got ready, the village was bustling with the energy of newly appointed genin preparing for their first day with their teams. The air was charged with excitement and nerves.

Back at the Hokage's office, the meeting with the civilian council was proving to be as tedious as Hiruzen had expected. They voiced concerns and demands, some of which seemed to lack a true understanding of the complexities of ninja life.

Poor Hiruzen

Meanwhile, Naruto stepped out of his apartment, ready to embark on this new chapter of his life as a genin. The sun shone brightly, casting a warm glow over the village, and Naruto couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation building within him.

The day promised new challenges, adventures, and the forging of bonds that would shape the destiny of these young ninjas.

Hiruzen Sarutobi however had the urge to yell out to the council for their stupidity and lack of understanding of how ninja villages worked.

"Hokage-sama, we cannot let Uzumaki Naruto become a ninja, can't you see that he is only getting stronger to kill all of us!" A member of the village council yelled out. His statement was backed with the rest of the members shouting in agreement.

While the Civilian Council was angry about one topic, most of the clan heads on the Shinobi Council were angered by another topic. The topic in question? Well it's the fact that brain dead villagers run a large part of the village without knowing how shinobi politics work.

"If you truly think that, then maybe you should study up more before you waste my time with your stupid demands" the irritated Hokage voiced with a scowl.

The Civilian Council had always been strong about their decisions and they somehow seemed to manipulate the aged Hokage's decisions, which he soon regretted every time he made the decision.

However, this Council Meeting was different from all the ones before it, there was no Mebuki Haruno in the mix to manipulate the ruling to the Civilians side.

"But Hokage-sama!"

"No Buts! If you don't understand why Naruto is needed then you clearly are not fit for your spot in the council!" Hiruzen lashed out. All Shinobi who were present smirked at the sight of all of the civilians with their mouths agape. They all then let out a sigh after the civilians regained their composure.

"Very well then, Lord Hokage, may we at the very least choose who his jonin sensei is? This way we can put the civilians of the village at ease" a different civilian with an oval shaped head and otter teeth asked.

Hiruzen was now starting to panic, hard questions like these were reasons he became a shinobi but apparently a god decided to play a prank at him and he was selected to be the Third Hokage. 'What to do now, my village is like a family, I cannot let them stay in fear but is it worth it to give them Naruto?'

Luckily, a stoic voice interrupted the silence that Hiruzen's thinking left, "With all due respect, you lot do not understand how shinobi politics work, that is why you are on the 'Civilian Council' so please let us handle how we treat our shinobi." The voice belonged to the ever serious Hiashi Hyuuga, clan head of the Hyuuga Clan.

Hiashi had gained some respect for the young blond after his dinner with him. He will admit that it was sort of awkward because of the clear fear that Naruto had during the entirety of the dinner however that didn't stop Hiashi from appreciating all the work that Naruto went through for it.

"Thank you, Hiashi-san for taking the words straight out of my mouth" Hiruzen lied in order to not look like he was panicking. "Now then, are there any more questions?"

When no one spoke up, it signaled that the meeting was ready to end. "Very well, I now declare this meeting over" Hiruzen stated. At that point, the members of the Civilian Council slowly exited the meeting room one by one, each of them dealing defeated.

After a moment of relief, the Shinobi Council also started to exit. As Shikaku Nara was about to exit, Hiruzen called him "Shikaku-san, do you have a moment?"

During the academy, Naruto was sitting side by side with the pineapple haired Shikamaru Nara, who was sleeping, and the bulky Choji Akimichi, who was eating extra salted potato chips.

There was also a lavender haired girl talking with a black haired girl.

"So Hitomi-chan, who do you think you'll get for your jōnin sensei?" A lavender haired Hinata Hyuuga asked.

"Hmm, hard to say, I don't really care, I hope it's a strong one though" A pale Hitomi Uchiha with long, smooth black hair replied.

"But anyways, I heard about what happened yesterday, how'd it go?" Hitomi asked with a smug smirk as she eyed down the fragile Hinata. It was common knowledge in the class that she had a HUGE crush on Naruto, the same Naruto that had made a large ruckus in the village the day before with his many clones.

Hinata only slightly blushed and seemed embarrassed, even more so when she remembered she passed out on her food. "I-it went well."

Hitomi humphed to the answer she got, it wasn't common knowledge that she liked to tease people but that was only because she couldn't find anyone to tease, that was until she found Hinata of course.

While their conversation kept on growing stale, Naruto decided to make his own conversation. As he repeatedly tapped Shikamaru's shoulder he called his name, "Hey Shika, Shika! Wake up!"

Shikamaru didn't even look like he felt, or heard, Naruto's attempts to wake him up at all.

"Here I got this" Haruto barked as he jumped off Naruto's crown of hair. Haruto slowly walked up to the sleeping Shikamaru but decided it was pointless to be quiet so he continued on normally. When Haruto got close, he clamped down on Shikamaru's ear and then barked loudly.

The poor victim launched back and fell on the floor in a loud yelp.

"Oi Naruto, get Haruto in control would ya? I'm trying to sleep" the lazy Nara asked as he got up and rubbed his ear.

Haruto seemed to growl slightly and jumped back onto Naruto's head as he was about to respond.

"Well actually I wanted to ask you something" Naruto responded. " You're the smart one, so do you know what teams we'll be getting?" Naruto asked with a slight glimmer in his eyes.

The teams have been bothering Naruto ever since Shikamaru brought up the question.

'hey I've been wondering about something for the past few days now but . . . with Hitomi back, that leaves an odd number of kids in a team, there's going to be at least one left out'

That statement led to distress for Naruto, he had been the dead last of the class, would he really be able to become a ninja now that the last female Uchiha is back?

Nonsense!

She had only been in the class for a year, no way she would graduate!

Well at least that is what Naruto would like to think but there was a small part of him that doubted that, telling him that he would be the one to fail.

The other classmates, who happened to be mostly made up of clan heirs, started to listen to what Shikamaru was going to say. Almost all of them believed that Naruto would be the one to not graduate but they still wanted to know their teams.

"Well then" Shikamaru dragged out the silence, adding a bit of suspense to what he was going to say next. "Well I figured that one of us won't graduate. There haven't been any teams with 4 or more team members so it's likely not to change." Shikamaru said, confirming their thoughts on the matter.

To everyone listening, it made it seem like it was going to be a free for all, all clan heirs against each other for the chance to graduate.

To Naruto, he hoped that the clan heirs wouldn't remember about him in order to at least get a chance to graduate.

"Anyways" all attention seemed to go back to Shikamaru with that one word "I already know that I will be pared up with Ino and Choji, it's tradition for our clans to be in a team so it's probably not going to change now" Shikamaru said as he started to rest his head in his hands with his eyes closed.

"Well then you'd be correct about that but I think you should let the team assignments to me" the voice of their sensei said right before the door to the classroom opened with a loud click.

As the class's sensei, Iruka Umino, walked in, the soon to be graduates quickly realized there was something different about their sensei.

Was it that he had a new haircut? Maybe he had fancier clothes? Or maybe it was that he was almost completely wrapped in bandages!

Although one of those were more obvious than the other two possibilities, all were correct, after all it was the last time he would see his students as, well his students, but rather as "Shinobi of the Leaf," of course he would put on a good last impression!

Iruka then cleared his throat, the universal sign of "SHUT UP, I'M ABOUT TO TALK!" so the entire class went quiet, well as quiet as a classroom with children can be.

"Alright take a seat, it's time for the team calls" Iruka said with a smile. He had watched the class grow through their goods and bads, he was really going to miss them.

As everyone took a seat, they were all very eager to get their team and could only hope to get a good team.

Naruto carefully listened to each team being assigned. Every time his name wasn't called he grew even more distressed and worried.

Team one? Still in circulation.

Team two? Please, only the clan heirs of smaller clans got in it.

Team three? Also still in circulation from the previous year.

Team four? Civilian council children got that honor.

Team five? I think you get the point here.

Up until the members of team 7.

"The members of team seven, under jōnin sensei Hatake Kakashi, are Uchiha Sasuke, Uchiha Hitomi, and Uzumaki Naruto" the bandaged sensei said which, obviously, led the remaining students to panic. Some hid it well and some already knew they were safe from not being graduated.

However they aren't the main character, their feelings aren't important to the story unless it's needed, but anyways, Naruto was overfilled with joy, he would've busted out in tears and shouted all about it if it weren't for the large wave of a red and gray aura to start flowing I'm the room, Naruto tried his avoid them but he could only do so much while sitting. Anger and anxiety flooded into him.

His mind started to go crazy, he had so much rage but also anxiety, what should he do with it all? Did everyone push their aura out on purpose? Do they still hate him? Why are they angry at him? Did his friends do it too? Should he kill them?

Luckily Haruto also is able to see the "auras" so he quickly released some of his chakra and dispelled the effects of the auras.

Naruto then called down and went to sleep on his desk, completely exhausted about his sudden energy of rage entering and leaving his body.

Ultimately, the soon to be called "Rookie Nine," consisted of...

Team Seven: Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and Hitomi Uchiha.

Team Eight: Hinata Hyuuga, Shino Aburame, and Kiba Inuzuka.

Team Ten: Shikamaru Nara, Ino Yamanaka, and Choji Akimichi.

The one to not graduate was a certain pink haired girl who happened to shout a lot. And I mean A LOT.

Back in the Hokages Office, the current Hokage had just finished his meeting with the current clan head of the Nara Clan, Shikaku Nara.

"Are you certain this was the best choice?" Asked Shikaku. Him personally, he could have found a better way but he wasn't about to go against his Hokages orders, that would be too much of a drag.

"It was the only way to please the civilian council, they were very adamant about her replacing the top Kunoichi, even Mebuki-san went through with it even though her daughter was at the top, oh and we'll have to thank Inoichi-san for informing us what Mebuki-san has decided. Of course she didn't become the top Kunoichi but I did put her on the same team as Sasuke." Hiruzen said.

"I see, I have to agree on this choice. Although Sakura-san is the top Kunoichi, she was only given that title because of her book smarts, a Kunoichi won't get far with knowledge alone, hence why we Nara train our clan techniques often." Shikaku said as he went over all the pros and cons of the teams in his head.

"I see.." Hiruzen said.

'I didn't even think of that'

After hours of waiting, team seven was the last team in the room, and had been for the last hour and a half.

"What's taking our sensei so long~" asked Naruto as he rested his head on his desk.

Sasuke and Hitomi were at the front of the classroom at their desks, Naruto had moved around the classroom multiple times to let out some energy with Haruto but they always seemed to return to the desk.

As bored as Naruto was, Hitomi was reading a book while Sasuke was brooding while looking out a window, just glad that he finally doesn't have to deal with fangirls anymore, especially the pinkette that Sakura Haruno was.

Haruto, who was laying next to Naruto's face, stood up and seemed to put on a grin in his own puppy way.

"How about we prank the sensei?!" barked Haruto.

Naruto's attention quickly snapped to Haruto, eager to hear the next words -barks- that come out of his snout.

"Well, he obviously deserves a punishment for being late" Haruto paused, "and plus we haven't done a prank in a while."

Naruto couldn't help but find it adorable but he understood, "yeah, you're right. We haven't done a prank in a while since we've been trying to graduate but now it's better than ever to do a prank."

Sasuke and Hitomi couldn't help but listen in when they heard "prank" and they got a pretty good idea of what Haruto said from what Naruto responded with.

the broody Uchiha butted into the conversation with a smirk, "You know dobe, a jōnin won't fall for a prank, how about you leave and let us do all the ninja work while you play with your pet."

Sasuke was then quickly slapped on the arm by Hitomi, "Will you please shut up? I'm trying to read" Hitomi said as she flipped the page, never looking away from her book.

"Anyways" Naruto said as he gave a glare to Sasuke but quickly looked back at Haruto, "What are you thinking we should do?" Asked Naruto with pure joy and excitement.

Naruto was once a master prankster, however it all changed when he started taking the academy seriously in order to graduate early and become the Hokage...it didn't work though and he graduated with his class.

Although he hasn't done a large prank on the village for years, his head was already flowing with ideas for the prank.

"Well here's what I'm thinking..."

After around thirty minutes of setting up the prank, it was ready! All that was left is a certain sensei to set the prank into action.

"This is going to be hilarious!" Naruto stifled through his chuckling.

Haruto had also seemed to be pleased as seen by his tail wagging at speeds that a certain blue hedgehog would pale in comparison. Hitomi had also stopped reading her book in order to watch the prank unfold. Sasuke had also decided to glace a few times but he would never admit it, pranks were for children, he was not a child.

They soon heard the distinct sound of footsteps thudding, becoming louder and louder as it drew closer to the classroom door.

Everyone in the room grew quiet as they focused on the door, waiting for their unsuspecting sensei to fall victim to the prank that Naruto set up.

It felt as if they watched the door slowly open for hours on end but it was totally worth it when...

As the prank was about to launch, a kunai was sent flying into the important part of the prank, causing it to be fully disfuncional while also catching the attention of the four in the room.

"Awe man! That was such a funny prank!" Naruto said in a pout while crossing his arms, Haruto mimicked the position.

'I should've known that wouldn't work, after all it's a jōnin.' The broody teen that Sasuke was thought in his head...obviously.

All attention then went back to the door after a foot stepped into the room. In walked a man with gray hair that doesn't obey the Laws of Physics, a tight blue neck gaiter, and his Konoha headband wrapping around his head and covering one of his eyes.

He seemed very tense as he kept waking into the room, one of his hands hovering above his kunai holster on his leg. But what stood out from all of that was his expression, granted most of his face was hidden, it still somehow conveyed all the emotion through the one visible eye. He seemed as if he was going to somehow suddenly die from an attack.

Before the unnamed sensei could even say a word, Naruto had beaten him to it. "You're weird and a party pooper, I don't like you."

And thus, team seven was at a rocky start.

After a couple of minutes of very, VERY, awkward silence, the stranger finally spoke.

"Meet me on the roof in five minutes."

And then the mystery man disappeared in a puff of smoke.

"Tch, what a weirdo, is the guy really going to be our jōnin sensei?" Sasuke lightly scowled as he stood up to leave.

"Hm, who knows? Maybe we'll get a replacement or something, he seems broken." Hitomi said as she followed behind Sasuke, her hands being interlocked as she used them as a head cushion.

"Welp I guess it's time for us to go now too" Naruto said as he stood up from his seat, Haruto also getting up and jumping onto the crown of Naruto's head.

As the newly assigned team slowly made their way up to the roof, the Hokage along with every other Kage felt a shiver that a Kage hadn't felt ever since the Warring States Period. Something big was coming.

As the team made their way up to the roof, they were greeted by the same strange man sitting on a rail, reading the contents of an orange book, often giggling like a little girl as he hid his face in the book.

'What a weirdo' was the same thought that echoed through the heads of the young team.

When the man they could assume was their sensei, only because of the Konoha headband and the signature green flak jacket, noticed them, he simply waved his hand in a back and forth motion, signifying to come to him.

The young genin team obeyed and sat down in front of the man.

"Alright, let's begin with some introductions" the gray-haired man said as he put his book away.

"Well what do you want to know?" Hitomi asked as she got into a comfortable laying position.

"How about...your likes, dislikes, dreams for the future, hobbies, stuff like that" Kakashi said as he put his arms out in an explaining manner.

"Hey, why don't you introduce yourself to us first?" Naruto asked as he put himself into a position that resembled a toad.

The man seemed to ponder at this, his thoughts completely unknown to the teens before him.

'I wonder when the next issue of Icha Icha will come out' The man thought, as he showed no sign to respond.

Hitomi let her head drop into a sigh as she picked up a random rock. The said rock was then thrown directly at the head of the cyclops, causing him to catch it and make him pay attention to them.

"Did you need something?" The ninja asked as he dropped the rock.

"Yeah, tell us about you first, are you even our sensei?" Hitomi said as she quickly went back to relaxing.

"Hmm, well I guess I do have to do that if I am going to teach you all huh." The man said as he started to rest his head on his hand.

Honestly Sasuke was glad that he wasn't the one to have to annoy the jōnin, it's not smart to get into a battle against someone who you know nothing about. Especially if it's an upper ranked shinobi.

"My name is Hatake Kakashi, jōnin sensei of team 7." Said the man now known as Kakashi Hatake. "I have no desire to tell you guys about my likes and dislikes."

The team's eyes flattened, surprised yet silent as they stared dumbly at their jōnin sensei.

"Dreams for the future...hmm" Their sensei said as he completely ignored their questioning gazes. "Well I have a lot of hobbies." Their sensei finished, completely disregarding the fact that he didn't say his dreams.

The team stood silent as the words of their sensei possessed through their minds. It was only after a couple of awkward seconds that all three genin face-falted after realizing they gained no information other than the fact that he was their sensei and his name.

Kakashi seemed to like their reactions, granted it was the reaction he got the most but that's what made him choose to take on the role of jōnin sensei. Well not actually, he was usually forced on to take the position but seeing the reactions made it a tiny bit worth it, like microscopically worth it.

The jōnin continued talking, not giving time to recover, "Now then, from right to left you'll do the same."

Seeing as Naruto was on the right and Hitomi on the left, Naruto got up and sat on her left, making Sasuke go first.

"Hey dobe! You can't do that, you go first!" Yelled the raven haired boy, obviously mad that he now has to go first.

"Shut up teme! We're ninjas now, and plus he didn't say we couldn't move." Naruto said with a smirk as he made himself comfortable.

Haruto chuckled at his friend's antics, of course it wasn't something that was super creative but it was for sure amusing. Sasuke on the other hand found it annoying that he now had to go first.

As Sasuke was about to speak, Kakashi spoke up first, "I've changed my mind, left to right now, and no moving spots." Their sensei now had a different feel to him, his appearance didn't change, his voice didn't change, yet he was different.

Not wanting to anger their new sensei, Naruto decided to follow his orders. "My name is Uzumaki Naruto, I like hanging out with my friends and eating ramen, I hate the time it takes to prepare ramen but also that people seem to hate me and I...I don't know why..." Naruto grew duller, his gaze less focused, he seemed lost to a point, as if he was trying to find answers in himself that he could reach.

To Sasuke however, he didn't need many reasons as to dislike Naruto, he just needed two. One, he was annoying. And two, he was happy.

How can Naruto be so happy although he has so little? He doesn't even know what it is like to have a family! It wasn't important however, he could think about it later but right now he had to finish up what he had to do with his team.

As Sasuke snapped out of his own thoughts, Hitomi snapped Naruto out of his by flicking his forehead.

The two boys seemed to go back to normal and Naruto kept going on through his introduction. "Finding out why they hate me is something that I will find out, just like how I'll become the Hokage! Those aren't just hopes for the future but thing I will do!" Naruto finished as he seemed to glow for dramatic effect.

Kakashi seemed to take in what Naruto said and then proceeded to nod and turn to Hitomi, "you're up next Miss Goth" said the one eyed ninja.

Hitomi sat up from her comfortable position and seemed to clear her mind before speaking. "My name is Uchiha Hitomi, I like to read and relax for the most part, I dislike people annoying me, and something I want is to be stronger and find out why it happened..." She seemed to grow gloomier just like how Naruto did in his introduction. She quickly snapped herself out and then continued, "As for hobbies, they would probably be reading, training, and relaxing" she finished with a nod.

Kakashi once again nodded and turned to the last member of their team, "Your turn Mister Emo."

Sasuke did his usual tongue click and then started his introduction, "My name is Uchiha Sasuke, there are many things I dislike and not many things I like. I don't have a 'dream' but rather an ambition. That is to kill a certain man and revive my clan." Sasuke said calmly, never looking away from his sensei.

Everyone seemed to be lost in their own thoughts but the sensei broke out of his fastest.

"Well then, with that done we'll start our duties tomorrow" their sensei said as he stood up and grabbed his book, "we'll be doing survival training so bring all your ninja gear and skip breakfast, you'll throw it up." Finished the gray haired man, which then left in a puff of smoke, leaving the team with their thoughts.

"So...what kind of surv- HEY!!!" Shouted out Naruto as he saw Sasuke leaving without paying attention to him, "Teme! Don't just leave when I'm talking to you!" Shouted out Naruto as he started following the raven haired boy.

"I'm done here, I'm going to go train so screw off" said Sasuke as he tucked his hands in his pockets.

Naruto stood in disbelief for a few solid seconds, a member of his team really doesn't want to deal with him at all, he should have expected that judging by how he treated him in the academy but he thought it would change now that they were in a team.

His thoughts were then interrupted by another flick to his forehead. As he turned to see the culprit, he saw Hitomi already reading a book.

"So you down to get ramen?"

_End Of Chapter_

Dogxim- dog-fox hybrid, one actually existed but died. :(

5k words, that's the most I've written so far!

well I hope you enjoyed it, it may be a bit rushed but I honestly want to get to the good part as fast as possible but I also want to make the story enjoyable.

I also made a Deviant Art account and I posted a picture of Haruto, check it out if you want to see him! The account username is just UndeterminedWriter.

Anyways, I actually enjoyed writing this chapter but going over the mistakes was tedious.

I have also caught up to One Piece and have gained inspiration for the fic so I'm definitely excited for writing that part!

But I don't think you want to hear me rant anymore since the chapter is already over.

The next chapter will probably take a long time too since mid-way through writing this chapter I just lost all inspiration for writing until recently.

Anyways, I'll see you in probably a week if I don't lose inspiration but if I do then probably a month or something like that.

I'll see you all later tho!

I don't own Naruto
