Danny POV

Carol walks out of Lori's room just as I'm about to walk past. She offers me a smile, "Morning".

I smile back but can guarantee it's a very tired looking one. "How late is it?" I can't tell with the small amount of sunlight we actually get in here. The windows are blocked by another cell block.

"I'm not telling you. But I will tell you that Daryl has gone out on a hunt". What? "Don't get mad. He waited but he really didn't want to wake you and he's trying to get you some meat. You need something fresh that isn't out of a can or packet".

I tsk and curl one side of my mouth up quickly. "Way to make me feel guilty for nearly getting angry at him."

She shrugs one shoulder. "I know you".

"Too well".

"Don't get mad at him,".

We stare at each other, she's waiting for me to agree. Finally I give in. "Fine. But only if he actually brings something back".

"I'm fine with that". She pats me on the shoulder. "Come on. Lets get some air".

Carol moves out of Lori's doorway and that's when I see Lori still sat on her bunk watching us. I offer her a smile, we haven't talked since being reunited but I don't actually think we talked much before we split up. She doesn't return the smile instead she very purposely turns her head away. Ouch.

We step out into the sun, its around midday. I slept for absolutely ages. The smell from the burning bodies is finally gone, it got so bad yesterday that it seeped into the prison. Was not pleasant at all.

"OI, sleeping beauty is awake". Merle shouts from way out in the grass yard. Sophia is with him, she waves before whacking Merle with the stick she's holding. He shouts in pain.

"What are they doing?"

Carol sighs heavily but more in humour than annoyance. "I think he's teaching her to fight like she has a sword." I look at her, she shakes her head at my perplexed expression. "I don't know why and I'm not sure I want to ask".

Well okay then, seems normal. "Where's everyone else?"

"I don't know where Rick is, Beth is with Herschel who is still with T and Glenn and Maggie are". She pauses like she doesn't actually want to say. "They're up in that tower".

It takes me a half a second to realise why she didn't want to say and then I chuckle. "Of course they are".

With my eyes roaming over the view in front of us, I spot Daryl coming coming out of the tree line. "Daryl's back".

Carol takes a second to find him. "Remember what I said. No getting mad".

"All depends on if he caught something". I then go over to let him through the gates.

He's holding two rabbits up by the ears. "There ain't much out there today. But this'll do".

"How long were you gone for?"

He shrugs, "Not long". The corner of his mouth lifts up slightly. "I knew you'd be angry already that I didn't tell ya I was goin'".

"Well this time you're wrong. I'm not mad".

He glances over my shoulder quickly. "You sure about that?"

I look back to see Carol stood there, she immediately stops shaking her head when I look at her.

"Are you two making fun of me right now".

"No", They both say at the same time.

"Do I need to remind you both that I am pregnant and I get very emotional and if you want I can start crying, right here right now. Make you both feel like arseholes".

Daryl swings his crossbow onto his back, with his now free hand he pulls me in for a hug, a hug which I don't return. "Don't do that, I'm sorry". He squeezes me a little tighter when I still don't reciprocate the hug.

I give in and wrap my arms around him, tight. Hiding the smile I'm wearing by pressing my face into his shirt.

"Let me take those." Carol says from behind me. "I'll get them started before Danny goes on a hunger rage".

Daryl's arm tightens even more making it physically impossible to turn on Carol who just walks away laughing.

We sat out in that field making a whole thing about the Rabbits he caught, We made it a group activity. One of us got the fire going, two of us skinned and gutted them and the last two were in charge of cooking up some other bits to go along side the meat. It was nice, I don't think we've all sat down together for a meal since we got here, was starting to miss it.

I walk through the front door but as I go to take a seat at a table Lori suddenly gets to her feet, she huffs heavily as she walks past and I'm almost certain she mumbled something to.

I turn in my seat. "What? I'm not sure how or when seeing as it's been only about four days since we met back up but have I done something to upset you?"

She pauses but she doesn't turn to face me "Nothing".

I stand up, "But it is something though. I mean you're all friendly with Carol but don't think I haven't noticed that every time you look at the rest of us, you're glaring."

She turns and she looks pissed. "Daryl went hunting and you all sit out in that field enjoying your meal and don't even consider the rest of us." She pauses. "You're selfish".

I take a step forwards. How dare she. "Selfish? How, are we being selfish?"

"You're keeping supplies from us and some of you just disappear without saying where you're goin..."

I cut her off. "When have we gone anywhere?"

"Yesterday. Three of you just went off and appeared hours later with water, none of us knew where you went or what you were doing".

I chuckle humourlessly. "They brought back water, which, they split with you".

"There is more of us and we got the smaller amount".

Oh my god, she is pissing me right off. She's acting like a child. "Because you weren't the ones risking your lives to get it. We were and as for the supplies". Another step forward "Lest you forget. They're our supplies. We spent the Winter getting them".

Lori takes her first step towards. "And we spent the Winter suffering because you", She points at me. "Left us at the farm. We lost people".

"What does that mean?"

"It means that people are dead because you didn't care".

I recoil in shock, my mouth hanging open. We still don't know what happened at the farm but she cannot put that on us.

"Who the fuck", Merle's voice comes from right behind my right shoulder. "Do you think ya talkin' to bitch".

"Don't you talk to me like that. I have every right to be angry. You." She pointedly looks to whoever is stood to my left. "You bring back meat that you can't share. We have kids".

Daryl scoffs. "And you have ya own husband, and it ain't me. Get him to do your shit".

Speaking of the devil. The Sheriff comes hurrying through from the cells. "Hey! What's going on?"

I hold my hands out to the side, as the Sheriff comes and stands next to his wife, silently telling the brothers to stay quiet.

"Urm, I'm not sure if you're aware of anything other than whatever bubble it is you live in, but we let you stay. Daryl brought you back to us".

Lori makes a noise in the back of her throat. "And we got you into this prison. You were still out in the yard until we turned up. What, you were there for about two days right?"

The Sheriff holds up his hands. "Lori! Guys stop". I ignore him.

I let out a sharp sudden laugh. "I get it, you're jealous. Resentful. Because we had a good Winter on the road and you didn't. It's pathetic".

The Sheriff steps right in between me and Lori, and glares down at me. "Back off".

Daryl and Merle take a step past me. But it's Sophia that shocks me. She suddenly appears in front of all of us. "You back off. Don't talk to my family like that".

With Carol now stood beside me I can immediately see the difference in our two families. Mine are stood right by me while theirs are all stood by the door to the cells. Not getting involved. What a so called family.

"You know what. I don't care what you have to say about us because from now on us Dixons only look out for Dixons and that don't include any of you." I move forwards so I'm stood between Daryl and Merle, Sophia's back touching my bump. "So if you want water then you go and fetch your own water. If you want fresh meat then I'm guessing one of you is gonna have to learn how to hunt".

"Stop". Sheriff starts. "I don't know what started this but it needs to stop. Separate. Daryl, can I speak to you".

"No". The Sheriffs mouth sets in a hard line when Daryl refuses him.

Carol grabs my hand and tugs on it, telling me to come with her. Merle's hand lands on Sophia's shoulder and he gets her to back up and then together we walk out of the cell block, out into the afternoon sun.

I stop Carol "I'm sorry about... I know you and Lori were good. I really didn't mean to mess that up".

She smooths my hair down, "Oh sweetheart. Yeah we talk but I left that farm with you, it was my own choice which means I chose you over them. I will always choose you guys".

"You know", Sophia pipes up. "Carl has barely spoke to me since they got here". Carol wraps an arm around her daughters shoulders.

Daryl sighs and the anger is still all over his face. "They all resentful of us leavin' and no matter what we do for them or give them. Somethin' will always be wrong".

"What are we going to do?" Carol asks.

Merle flings his arm out towards the cell block. "Get our fuckin' shit back".

"No", Daryl and I say at the exact same time. We won't stoop to that level of pettiness.

"They can have what we've already given them", Daryl tells Merle who doesn't look like he agrees. "But from now on we stay out of their way... And they stay out of ours." He gives Merle a pointed look. "And don't start anythin' with 'em".
