129. Bambi

Somin and Pomchun

"Why the long face, Bambi?" Her older brother studied her as he walked by her side He glanced at her sipping a coffee, remembering how she liked it. She was always a wide-eyed scared child, however, Somin only tolerated it when he called her that. From her parents, it sounded more like a taunt at her naiveté and youthful features.

"I'm very tired." The dark circles under her eyes were badly covered by makeup.

"I like your short hair, however pink is a weird color for you. You look more like a kindergartener. How do you wanna find a new boyfriend looking like this?" Pomchun hugged her some more, being genuinely happy to see his little sister.

"The fringe looks fire on you though!"

These sentences sounded like ordinary statements, yet his care and forgotten love were the last straw, she started to cry silently in his arms.

"Life has been hard, I don't know how to go on or what to do," she confessed suddenly.

"Oh, Bambi, I'm so sorry for not being here with you. Should I go kick his ass?" The older boy sounded tough, even though he was the softest one she had ever known.

"Just be with me today, please." Her tears fell to his shirt. The frosty morning made their coffee colder.

...

I guess she must have loved him very much. He felt the pain of their lost bond.

Even though she was known as his uncool younger sister at elementary school, he would find time to hang out, to share secrets. The pretty boy loved talking to her.

Protecting her when she was the butt of the joke.

...

"What do you say, we go to our rehearsal room? Somewhere warm?" Her loving brother offered to escape from the chilly street, seeing loneliness in her eyes.

"Today I'm all yours," he said, wiping her tears compassionately.

"Would you sing for me if we go there?" Somin was slowly calming down.

"Gladly." He winked.

"Is it alright if we're joined by my friend?" she asked.

"New love interest?" he poked.

"No, just a close friend. Shy, talented, pretty handsome." Somin looked at Pomchun.

"I can't control myself when there are shy, talented, pretty handsome boys around." He laughed at his joke, eyes sparkling with interest.

"I forbid you to mess with this one." Her voice suddenly sharpened, "Are you listening? You can't." Somin freaked out for a moment.

"Yeah, yeah. I won't. Foremostly I don't have time," Pomchun joked.

"YA! NO!" She smacked him.

"There it is, you feel better already, huh?" He winked.

Somin texted the location to Junu and leaned on to her brother's arm, sipping delicious coffee.

Just the way I liked it.

Enjoying an icy morning sun. "Tell me how'd you've been?" she pleaded and listened to his story, not thinking about Teho for once, having peace of mind.

Finally.

...

Pomchun talked as they were going to his studio, about his packed schedule. Tough training, fun group mates.

"You'd actually know some of them from way back home, we made it together." It sounded too good to be true.

How come his life was such a fun ride? Hanging with friends, suffering together, laughing together, living in dorms together. She wondered.

Knowing him so little nowadays hurt.

His love life was turbulent too, leaving the trail of one night standing behind him.

"I don't have time to date, you know?" He gestured wildly and she nodded.

The truth was, there was someone more interesting, more handsome each time. Somin didn't remember if he ever had a stable boyfriend, it wasn't a secret he loved boys, everybody kind of knew it from their early childhood, the blonde was always proud and confident.

He would fall for Teho for sure. There goes Teho again, living rent-free in my head.

During the walk, Pomchun tried his best to be a supportive brother, touching her, hugging her, providing the little sister with all the love he couldn't give before. They made up for the lost time while making their way to the tall building where his rehearsal room was and where the company resided.
