AN: Hello!
For reference, I've based Amelia's look from Scarlett Johansson's portrayal of Natasha Romanoff from Black Widow 2021
and John Smith's look is from Chris Evan's portrayal of Steve Roger's from Captain America: Civil War.
Escaping the looks and unwanted questions from those around them in the diner, the newly discovered pregnant assassin and the former Queen retreated to the safety of their shared home with their sons's after finding out that their venture to Camelot to help Emma fight the darkness had failed. And all without their memories of what happened over the last few weeks away.
With the promise to speak in the morning the redhead's former husband agreed to stay with Anastasia in Tom's old bedroom, the redhead followed her soulmate home ready for the onslaught of questions she would have to answer her and eventually her own son.
He seemed to be in his own world as the small family let themselves into the large home, his mother tried her best to try to talk to him only for he and Henry to hurry upstairs to their rooms leaving the assassin stranded at the bottom while Regina headed straight for the kitchen.
Letting out a shaky breath the assassin gently stroked her noticeably curved stomach over the robes she had woken up in, trying to smooth away the nerves that had crept up on her. No matter what happened over the last few weeks or on the next half-hour she was not letting her second chance go, even if she had to do it on her own.
Blinking back the tears the assassin found the only room downstairs that was lit-up to find her partner stood at the island nursing a glass of wine in her hand while a bottle sat on the counter top. The silence between them as the former Queen saw the pregnant woman step into the kitchen.
"You knew" Regina calmly stated to the assassin opposite her. The first words she had uttered to her partner ever since waking up in the diner with an accusing finger pointed at her "You knew, you were pregnant before we left to find Emma".
"Regina-" she started neither confirming nor denying her accusation, because she couldn't.
"When?" the brunette suddenly asked her. She needed to know when the redhead knew she was pregnant, because that was the moment she had started to lie to her.
"When, what?".
"When did you find out?".
"I took a test shorty after our 'girls night' out with the others. I tried to find out before, but every time I tried to get an appointment with Whale I had to cancel because of ridiculous school project Snow had dragged me into-".
"The fairies" Regina realized thinking back to when they freed the fairies from the hat "That's where you were when we needed the dagger".
"I didn't even get to step into his office" she admits to the woman she loved.
"Who's the father?" the question came tumbling out her mouth quicker than she could control it.
"W-what kind of question is that?" she asked her love with the hurt of that question evident on her face as her face scrunched up.
"You know damn well, what kind of question that is" she retorts slamming the glass onto the tile counter top letting out the anger towards the assassin "I saw the way you and Robin acted around each-other back home, like a couple of hormonal teenagers" she grumbled before taking a long drink of the wine.
Anything could've happened in time they weren't together, but her jealousy simmered when the assassin suddenly left trying to find Tom unaware that he was already at the palace. Staying for a few day's at a time before leaving for another fortnight. She hardly spoke to anyone, spending most of her time with Belle in the library going over map after map of old orphanages that she could find.
"John" Amelia gritted out through her teeth trying to control her own frustrations over their conversation "If it's so damn important to you" she spat out "You already know, I know you saw that stupid hickey" taking the former Queen across from her by surprise as the former Widow continued "The way you just suddenly turned on me in the vault was explained when Swan it pointed out to me after you admitted to trying to kill him!" the way Regina flinched at the way she rose her voice.
Doing the quick calculation in her head that out the assassin at least 4 month's pregnant with the time since John had least been in Storybrooke and now, including the six weeks missing from their memories.
"You could've told me!" Regina angrily retorted.
"When exactly!?" Amelia spat at her Queen "In-between going undercover for the Charming's, finding Zelena in New York pretending to be Marian and being sent into an alternative reality where Snow is the Evil Queen. I've barely had time to move in here let alone tell you about this, you tell me when a good moment to tell you something this big".
The former Queen stood there in shocked silence, knowing the redhead was right, it was never a good time to tell her in-between the twists and turns it came with living in a town full of fairy tale characters and the villains that came part of everyday life. This would've just added to pile of pressure they already felt.
"Believe me, this is the last thing I wanted to happen" she told her partner "I was trying my best to save my marriage with the first person I loved after telling him I had moved on from him. I was trying to tell you six weeks ago- ".
"You were asking me about adopting a baby, not" Regina paused looking at her pregnant bump " ..this" she trailed off in defeat.
"I never said I wanted to adopt" she reminded her soulmate "What I wanted is for you to not reject this chance straight away. We've never had the chance to really talk about our future, just happy to live in the moment, why do you think I was so worried about what kind of happy ending the Author would give you? But I was willing to risk losing you, even if it meant you got to be happy" she tells the woman in front of her pacing her hands on her swollen stomach.
"-I can't live in the moment anymore, Regina. This baby is happening whether we like it or not, I'm not letting this chance go. This is my second chance to be the mother I wanted to be before that life was taken away from me".
Regina heard her love's voice crack as she tried to control the way her walls fell apart around her as all her partner could do is watch as her resolve crumbled at thought of losing something so precious to her.
"I am so sorry for not telling you straight away. I was scared about how you would react, because admitting it to you made it real. And as stupid as it was to think that, I could pretend that there wasn't this huge obstacle that could end us. If there is one thing I'm sure of, is that I refuse to be sorry for this second chance. I would love to do this with you. To have a family that didn't chop and change every other night, something that was just ours" she paused.
"The question is whether you want this as well" at that the assassin turned and left the former Queen to herself and her wine as she made her way upstairs to get all the sleep, she could get with this newest problem hanging over their heads.
The couple might as well have spent the night in separate beds from how far they slept away from the other, with their backs turned on the other. The pair got as they could before they woke up to whatever they had to face in the morning.
Sleep eluded the assassin for most of the night as she tried her best not to disturb the woman she loved behind her. She had forgotten over the years how uncomfortable pregnancy made her as she tried to keep her bump as comfortable as possible.
The former Widow was roused from the slumber she had found on her left side as she heard the former Queen moving around their shared bedroom, hurriedly getting dressed as the assassin slowly sat herself up on the bed o sit herself up against the headboards as she saw her partner slipping on the blazer of her signature sensible pant's suit.
"Regina?" she groggily called out to the woman as she tried to tame long red hair that had grown over the last few weeks. The previous night she had noticed a change as her body turned it's attention to the baby in her womb as the usual volume had left it's appearance leaving it looking tired and straggly. It had happened before with Tom, it was nothing she hadn't dealt with before, it just meant she would have to spend some time braiding it, into something for the day.
Pausing the former Queen saw her partner sat up in their bed in a tank top that showed off her curved stomach more, drawing her eye's to the root of their disagreement the previous night. She knew her assassin hadn't gotten mush rest by the way she fidgeted. She had hoped it was a dream, but no, she had to remind herself, her soulmate really was pregnant with her ex-husband's second child.
She knew she shouldn't have questioned who the father was. Deep down she knew who it was. She was the one to send her back to him anyway, they weren't even together. However it didn't seem to lessen the sting she felt knowing they had managed to conceive, even by mistake.
"What's happening?" her partner asked her from the bed.
"The dwarfs are planning to cross the town line" she informed her pregnant partner "We're going to stop the idiots" she informs her knowing David wouldn't be long in his cruiser.
"Uh, give me a minute and I can-" Amelia tried to get herself out of bed only to fall short as her swollen stomach severely slowing her movements. And it would only get worse as she would go along.
As much as it pained them all, the prospect of Amelia being sidelined was disheartening, but the threat Emma poised was heavily outweighed by the health of her child. Maybe Emma knew all along. But they had done it before when she had fifteen years of her life taken from her. Six week's was nothing. At least she still had her Amelia, not the one weighted down by the darkness in her heart.
"Don't bother" Regina scoffed as she headed for the door "It's not like you can run anywhere at the moment. Stay here" Regina almost order's her partner as she walked out of the room to leave her partner.
"Merda" the assassin swears to herself falling back onto the headboard. This was going to be a very long day.
Camelot
Six Week's Ago
The outside of the castle didn't to the inside of it any justice as the group of heroes, villains, dwarf's and teenage girls that just so happened to get stuck in the restroom while the diner was taken up in a twister waling inside and took in their new surroundings, greeted by couturiers who welcomed the newcomer's into the castle.
Walking beside her partner the assassin blinked on her sixth sense to get a better reading of the room around them as she tagged each and every person around her, only to come up with nothing as they call flagged blue for friendly, including the King and his knights himself descending a grand stone staircase in front of them. Her golden eye's focused on Emma as she flagged up red for enemy.
Not surprising, she was the Dark One after all.
"Wow" Henry stated in wonder as he scanned the castle around him. This was his first real adventure outside Storybrooke without any curses or kidnappings as Tom joined his best friend in wonder only having seen one other palace in his life before.
"Wow is right" David agreed with his grandson as the Prince took in his surroundings.
"Seen better" Regina heard her partner mutter to herself, looking to the woman next to her, catching her gaze the redhead sent the former Queen a cheeky wink of her eye with a matching smirk.
"His Royal Highness, King Arthur" a footman announced as the King stood before their 'saviors' as Amelia's eye's landed on the man that had greeted the group to his Kingdom.
"And now. allow me to introduce the loveliest creature in all of Camelot... my Queen, Guinevere" they all watched as a woman in a purple dress descended the grand staircase joining her husband at the bottom taking his waiting hand.
"Your Majesty" Mary Margaret greeted the Queen bowing to the monarchs in front of them in respect followed by her husband and the other's.
All assassins were taught to respect all rulers of kingdoms despite not being loyal to any one of them. However, that lesson apparently went unheard as Anastasia remained standing tall forcing Amelia to grab her arm and force her down before the King saw the clear insult, as Robin had to do the same for Zelena which only made the assassin smile to herself.
"The pleasure is ours" Queen Guinevere greeted their visitors as they stood back up straight "We have been awaiting your arrival from the moment we heard Merlin's prophecy".
"Well, we hope you haven't been waiting too long" David politely tells the monarchs.
"Only a decade or so" King Arthur informed them.
"Ah, sorry" the Prince laughed off.
"I'll wager it's been worth the wait" Arthur replied "And as a bonus, it's given us more than enough time to prepare a ball in your honor tonight" the King tells them as he find's Amelia in the crowd meeting her green eyes as he continued.
"Especially, with the not only one member of the Brotherhood in our presence but three" he looked at Anastasia and Tom. "Merlin always spoke highly of the Brotherhood of Assassin's and their work to preserve the light from the shadows. We'd be honored that our oldest allies grace us with your presence".
"We'd be honored to attend just for the drinks, Your Majesty" Amelia replied earning a polite smile from the King and Queen.
As the formal welcoming ended the group descended into their own conversations "Is this really necessary?" Zelena asked her half-sister pointing at the cuff gaining the attention of the redheaded assassin, the question only made the former Queen roll her eyes at her sister.
"You're lucky you're not locked in Granny's freezer" Regina tells her.
"Or in Senu's cage for that matter" Amelia add's to her partner's threat giving the woman a knowing smile as a flash of the Widow's presence made herself known the the Wicked Witch of the West.
"Take it off" she demands out of the couple "Or I tell Arthur he just welcomed the Dark One into his..." Zelena's voice was caught her throat as close her fist forcefully using her magic to mute her half-sister.
"What's that, sis?" Regina teased her sister "I can't hear you" laughter bubbled in the Assassin's throat at the piece of magic "No one here knows who we are, and it's gonna stay that way. So, you can either behave and pretend to be my mute handmaiden or go back to Granny's, where you can rely on Doc for prenatal care".
Gazing to her right, Regina' eye's met her partners as she noticed a certain..sparkle to the woman's eye's ,that told her that she had enjoyed her partner's piece of magic to mute her sister.
"I love you" the assassin slowly told her without missing a beat "So much right now". A sultry smile grew on the former Queen's face that made Zelena mutely retch at the way the assassin spoke. If she didn't feel nauseous before, she certainly did now.
The assassin would have to be patient and keep her hands to herself for the time being as the prospect of a ball hadn't gone down well with Hook as he interrupted the quiet conversation the King and Queen was having with David.
"Your Majesty" the one handed pirate gained the King's attention "When are we gonna start our quest to find Merlin?".
"Well 'find him?'" he asked the pirate in confusion "We don't need to find him. We know exactly where he is".
Taking a handful of the Storybrooke residents with him, King Arthur with a knight they had learnt was, Percival, to a circular courtyard where in the middle sat a very tall, and large tree that supposed to be Merlin.
A look of confusion etched on the assassin's face as and Regina took a closer look at the tree before them as. She looked at the branched that were drooped in green leaves as she tried to figure out how they would get to the sorcerer that had inspired Altair to create the Brotherhood of Assassin's.
Safe to say even the assassin present was stumped to what to do.
"So, the most powerful sorcerer in all the realms is stuck inside a bloody tree?" Hook bluntly summarized for the group as the King kept his eye on the redheaded assassin in the group knowing the man was wrong.
There was only one person more powerful that Merlin himself, but he had to play his cards right to get what he wanted.
"I said the same exact thing the first time I stood there" Arthur informed them.
"And you think we can get him out?" Emma asked the King as she stared at the tree that held the only person that could save her from the darkness.
"Oh, we don't think" he replies making the group turned to him "We know" King Arthur started as he made eye contact with the assassin "Merlin's prophecies are never wrong".
"Why are you so eager to free him?" the knight Percival asked the group in front of him.
"Our home" David quickly spoke up for the group next to his wife "..is being threatened 's called the Dark One" he informs the King.
"The Dark One" Arthur repeated David's words "Yes, we're well aware of that demon. That is bad. Well, I pray Merlin can help. But, first, we must free him from his prison. It is said one of you is the Savior. So which of you is it?" Arthur looked between those present.
They all stayed silent as they tried to think fast to answer the King but came up with nothing as Regina reached into the inside of her blazer where she kept Emma's daggers stopping the blonde from saying anything as the former Queen stepped up to answer the King.
"I am the Savior" Regina claimed the title for herself "I'm the one who's going to free Merlin from that tree, and then we can take care of the Dark One. And all go home".
Probably one of the good things about their six weeks in Camelot was that she had managed to replace the hidden blade on her right gauntlet. Since that last one snapped when she stabbed the Apple of Eden before Isaac's reality, and Henry had left what remained of the blade in New York.
After watching her partner hastily leave the home, the assassin herself manged to get out of bed to try and start her day, which meant getting the boys out of the house for a while they figured what kind of curse that they had been inflicted on this time.
Though it was nice to wake up from a curse and not having fifteen years of it missing from her memory. They checked..just in case.
Managing to tame her almost lifeless hair into a long braid at the back of her head, trailing down the back of her neck, the tight brain kept the rest of her hair out of her face, she found something that managed to cover her growing stomach as she sat outside Granny's diner on a table with her sister sat opposite her with a glass of sparkling water with a lemon wedge as her sister nursed an early morning bourbon.
Her drinking days were over for the next few months, not that she missed it that much if she was being honest. She had enough to last her the next five month's on that night out with the witches and her sister.
"So, what did Regina say last night?" Anastasia opened the conversation between them.
"Angry, quiet" she lists off "Just everything I expected her to be when I eventually told her".
"And the rest of us?" she questioned her sister.
"I honestly didn't think about anyone else until I told her. Sorry".
"I found your test by the way, or the packaging at least, you suck at hiding things by the way".
"I was in a hurry" she tells her sister.
"How did you get it anyway? Without the Sneezy dwarf ratting you out to the Princess".
"I stole it" she meekly admitted to the blonde assassin making her laugh.
"Well at least some things don't change" she mumbled taking a sip of the amber liquid in her glass, making her sister roll her eye's at her.
"How was your night anyway?" the redhead changed the subject "Sorry for dumping John with you".
"I was just glad he decided the leave early to find the thief in the woods" she tells her "I must say sister, you did very well for yourself. He's a very good looking man, makes up for his dull personality".
"Hey!" she exclaimed in offence "I fell for that personality once. I married that personality" she tried to defend herself only to get a raised challenging brow from her sister "Alright fine
"All he could talk about last night was you. It was so annoying. And the endless questions!" she exclaimed in exaggeration slamming her glass onto the table "How is she? Did you know she was pregnant?, Is she still with the Queen?".
"Stasia.." Amelia warned her sister.
"He asked about the boy, do not worry" she adds as they hear horse hooves hitting the concrete street making the pair look at each other in confusion before they quickly abandoned their drinks to rush into the almost deserted main street to see Leroy and Happy with pickaxes in their hands and three armored men riding towards them.
They watched as one of the knights quickly dismounted their horses to meet the dwarf's on the ground, drawing their sword against the short men as the other remained on his mount.
"Pathetic" Anastasia verbalized her sister's own thoughts as they easily surrounded the dwarf's.
"Didn't anyone ever teach you not to mess with a dwarf and his pickax?" Leroy bated the knights before he and Happy were quickly disarmed and pushed onto their knee's as the man on a white horse took off his helm to address the dwarfs.
"Didn't anyone ever teach you to kneel before a king?" King Arthur announced to the men "Now, tell me where I am and how the hell did I get here".
"Hey!"Amelia barked at the King making her way down the street to confront the men herself with her sister hot on her heels. Looking up from the dwarf's King Arthur set his eyes on the redheaded woman he had seen on countless drawings in Camelot.
The redhead came to stop with a younger blonde woman as they both flicked out their hidden blades from the gauntlets on their forearms "Pick on someone you're own size" she tells him taking up a fighting stance together.
"With their own blades" Anastasia added making the King's eye's bug out slightly in fear.
"Assassins!" he stated before his eye's drifted down to her curved stomach "You're with child".
"Yeah. And you really don't want to piss off a pregnant assassin" Amelia warning the man "Now let the dwarf's go, before I really get angry".
After some a calm discussion, King Arthur had agreed to stand his men down after Amelia had agreed for him to meet with the other's. After a few phone calls, the redheaded assassin took him to the Mayor's office with Leroy, Happy and Anastasia sticking close to the pregnant assassin in case the King had a change of heart. She supposed it was sweet.
Finding Regina, Mary Margaret and David in the office, the assassin ignored the looks she received from her partner as she perched herself on the edge of the Mayor's desk with Mary Margaret between her and her soulmate as they explained how Arthur ended up in Storybrooke.
"A curse?" the King inquired with them placing the polished floor in front of them as Anastasia closely watched the King with her arms across her chest.
"That brought you to our realm and wiped the last six weeks from your memory" Regina informed him.
"It's become a little bit of an annoying habit if we're being honest" Amelia drawled out, making Mary Margaret give her a worrying glance towards the assassin, the former looking a more tired than she looked last night as she held her hand to her stomach.
"Who would do that?" the King asks them.
The Mayor opened her mouth to answer only for David to quickly come to her rescue, Emma's word to her earlier coming to the front of her mind. The Dark One had told her that something was coming only a savior could solve.
Amelia already had to deal with these toy soldiers on her own, which only aggravated the former Queen more at the thought when she promised she would be there to help her, but her own stubbornness about her secret pregnancy had made her forget how vulnerable she was.
"We weren't completely honest with you on the way to Camelot" The town's sheriff told the King.
"Our daughter" Mary Margaret continues "Emma, was... Is the Dark One. She cast the curse".
"You lied to me?" the King accused them as his anger rose "You let me lead the darkest of souls into the heart of my kingdom?".
"To be fair, we didn't think that someone would be waiting for us once we reached Camelot and be so eager to take them into their own castle" Amelia added with a smirk "So I guess that's on you, Your Majesty".
Fury simmered on the King's features as he looked towards the assassin that had the gall to speak to him the way she did "You may be an Assassin of the Brotherhood, but you shall not insult me" he seethed at her.
"Amelia" Mary Margaret lightly scolded the woman, the redhead quickly held up her hands in a mock surrender at the King fury towards her remarks.
"We thought Merlin would be able to destroy the darkness inside her" David quickly interrupted the exchange trying to calm the monarch down.
"Well, obviously that didn't work out" he points out to them "Where's the Dark One now?".
"Emma" Mary Margaret corrected him "She's here in Storybrooke".
"Well, then there's only one way to defeat her- "the King told the group in front of him "The Dark One dagger".
"Defeat isn't exactly what we had in mind" the former Princess tells the man.
"She's our daughter, and, well, she has the dagger" David admitted to the King.
"What of the Assassin's?" the King spat out the last word making a challenging brow rise up on her's and Anastasia's face "Your Brotherhood are meant to be the Dark One's enemy, the one's to work from the shadow's to defend the innocent. How could you let this happen?".
"Well seeing my obvious problem at the moment" she starts pulling back the opening of her black leather jacket to show the man her stomach "The only other assassin we have here is my lovely sister over there, who you've already pissed off" she points out making the man look to the glaring blonde in the room "and my son who still training. I guess you lucked out there, Your Majesty". She finished just as the door to the office opened for Robin and John to enter.
Seeing her ex, the redheaded assassin and the former Captain instantly made eye contact surprised to see the other there. Managing to find the clothes he had left behind from when he left that morning, all boxed up in boxes simply labeled as 'Johns'. He had quickly learnt that his ex-wife had moved into the former Queen's home with Tom leaving the small partner to Anastasia the previous night.
It was odd to be there without the redhead and his son when he woke up at the crack of dawn to find Robin in the forest. He had picked out a tight fitting work out shirt that smugly encompassed the defined muscles on his arms and chest, pairing it with a pair of blue jeans with some boots that were still brand new.
"I'm afraid you and your knights aren't the only ones that Emma dragged here from Camelot" Robin informed the King as they entered the office "Little John said he ran into some of your subjects in the forest".
"Are they all right?" the King looked to the thief and the privateer, that had been staying in Camelot after arriving by ship a week or so before the other's arrived.
"They're a little shaken up, but there may still be some of them out there" John reassured the King before looking back at the others at the desk "Robin's gonna round up the merry men and search the East Woods".
"I'll take the dwarfs" David began stepping forward quickly to volunteer to search for lost Camelot residents "We'll start in the West. Arthur, you're with me" David tell the King before looking to the blonde assassin "Anastasia, we could use your help".
"No, I wish to see how this plays out" she tells the Prince wanting to watch her sister trying to navigate her way through a conversation with her current love and the father of her child in the same room "My money is on the Queen to win" she adds.
"Anya" her sister calls out to her "Andare. Ora" (Go. Now)
"Fine" she shrugged "Buona fortuna, sorella" (Good luck, sister) she sends towards her sister with a smug smile before following behind David and the rest of the search party, leaving the former Captain to look between his former pregnant wife and her current love.
"Regina" John curtly nods at the former Queen in greeting standing his ground with the woman in front of him.
"Captain" Regina politely replied straightening her back to plaster the most friendly smile she could muster towards the man "Welcome back to Storybrooke".
"Thank you"he replied before looking towards the redhead in the room "I was uh, hoping we could have that talk" he awkwardly asked the woman glancing towards her stomach.
"Sure why not" the redhead shrugged standing from the desk "Like it couldn't get anymore uncomfortable than it already is" the red head said heading for the door with John "We'll head for the campsite to help out" they heard the red head say to John as they left.
"Lia" Mary Margaret called out for the red head making her stop to look back at the younger woman "Do you think it's safe...".
"I'm pregnant Snow, not useless" the red head threw back as she left with her ex-husband. The elephant in the room let out a mighty roar as Regina dropped her head in defeat seeing Amelia leave without a second glance at her.
"Are you okay?" Mary Margaret asked the former Queen sympathetically.
Last night had been a shock to all of them all, she could not even imagine what Regina was going through that Amelia and John had managed to conceive so quickly despite the short time they were back together.
Her friend hadn't given any clue to anyone that was pregnant. But as she thought back to the night six weeks ago when the darkness took Emma, the red head had fallen after trying got save Regina. The way she screamed out in pain and didn't get straight back up, she had fallen onto the swollen stomach that held something so precious inside.
"We're fine, I'm fine" she almost spat up as Emma's words went through her head as she rounded her desk.
"Then what is it?" the pixie haired Princess asked her seeing the concern on the older woamns features.
"These toy soldiers" Regina began "I could kill them all with a wave of my hand" she tells the younger woman.
"Regina!" Mary Margaret protested.
"Well, I don't mean I will" she retorted "My point is this can't be what Emma warned me about".
"She obviously brought them here for a reason" the teacher mused.
"She said we were going to face a problem. only a savior can handle I'm telling you, something else is coming our way".
She had to give credit where it was due, as the people of Storybrooke quickly set up a crisis center in the middle of the woods as they found more and more refugee's from Camelot wondering around the forest in confusion.
With Anastasia's help, the blonde assassin quickly took over the operation as she directed everything with David, pitching in to help the newest residents to the sleepy town with building tents as she kept a close eye on her sister and her former husband across the campsite transferring crates of bottled water from the back of David truck to a table full of them.
Captain John Smith easily lifted heavier objects with little to no effort, even once she saw the man pick up a crate of water in each hand like he was Captain America in Tom's comic books.
"Show off" the blonde assassin huffed out in annoyance as she did battle with a partially difficult tent. Despite her words to her sister earlier that morning, she felt sorry for the man that was now caught in the whirlwind of her secret being exposed. He was back in a place he didn't really want to be, while his wife played happy family with her new love.
She didn't understand why she would keep it a secret. Was she scared? Worried? What ever the reason was, she knew she had to do her best to support her sister like she had done with her since they had been children.
Doing her best to help out the redheaded assassin attempted to carry on as normal as she picked up a crate herself only for it to be snatched out of her hands by her ex-husband to make the transfer himself.
"You look exhausted" her ex tells her as he placed the heavy item down on to table with a thud.
"Thanks" she drawled out in offence as her and smoothed her rounded bump "I feel it too" she adds.
"How have you been sleeping?" the concerned father-to-be asked her.
"Not that I remember the last few weeks sleeping habits, but last night was a little hit and miss" she answered his concerns as he seemed to get nervous stood in front of her, flexing his fingers at his sides like he was itching to tounch something.
"Can I?" he asked reaching out towards her bump, he wanted to feel her stomach. This was the new dynamic between them now and he had to accept that.
"Sure" she tell him allowing him to step a little closer to rest his hands on her stomach.
The gesture felt like it was the most normal thing for him to do. Like it was only yesterday he was doing the same thing when she started to show with Tom, every chance he got, his hands were there, smoothing his son whenever he started moving, always settling down whenever he felt his father's warmth through his touch.
"She giving you a rough time?" he suddenly asks her. A curious brow grew on her face as she looked down to his hands, already assuming it was girl.
"She?" she questioned him "You've accepted impending fatherhood pretty quickly for someone who just found out less than twelve hours ago, Mr. Glass half full".
"You know how much I wanted another one" he tells her as an involuntary smile grew on his lips as the assassin felt the familiar warmth coming from his hands through her shirt, he always ran a little warmer than others, which became a nightmare trying to sleep during the last couple months with their son.
"I did too, but that doesn't mean this one will be any different" Amelia tells the man in front of her.
"I know" he gulped "But you never got this far the last time. It's a sign" he said hearing the hope he had in voice like he always did when he reassured her about something she had been worrying about.
His hope only made the anger she held in her mind worse. He was so hopeful and yet he was willing to leave so quickly, the simmering anger made her eye's sting at the man in front of her.
"Why did you leave?" the question slipped past her lips faster than she could stop it, taking him by surprise the man met her green eye's seeing the angry tears that she tried to control.
"You know why I left, Amy" he answered her making the redhead scoff and roll her eye's at him.
"That is not a good enough reason now. You have no idea how much it hurt. Especially Tom".
He went to answer her as the small bubble they had created burst around the as Regina hurriedly rounded a corner around the tents, the former Queen's came to a sudden stop scuffing the dirt under he heel's to see John with his hand on Amelia''s slightly protruding stomach. Hearing the interruption the couple snapped their head's to the side to see her stood there like she was a deer caught in headlights.
"Sorry" she quickly apologized to the pair.
"Regina" John greeted her with a curt nod, taking his hands off his estranged wife.
"Captain" Regina greeted the man before carrying one going around the former couple, only for the man to quickly rush after her to try and inform her on the progress they were making with the refugees.
"We covered the forest. I think we found everyone who came over" John tried to update the Queen only to be ignored as she walked away. With a huff John turned away to continue with other jobs shaking his head to himself as the assassin tried to run after her distracted soulmate as fast as she could.
"Regina" she called after the woman hasting her pace to catch up to the woman" "Regina! Please don't make me run" she pleaded with the woman in front of her.
"Hmm?" Regina replied whirling around to face her soulmate "Oh, I'm sorry. I was just..." she trailed off.
"What happened? What did Emma say to you?" the redheaded assassin quickly fired the questions towards her love in concern.
"It's nothing really" she tried to walk away only for Amelia to stop her again.
"J-Just forget what you just saw and our stupid fight last night and tell me, you're worried about something, I can always tell" the redhead tells her partner, despite the question mark that hovered over their future that didn't mean she wouldn't be there whenever her Queen was worried about something.
The former Queen stayed silent weighing up her options at the moment as her brown eyes flickered back and forth undecided of what to do, she was the one she could confide in but her secret questioned her trust in the woman in front of her at the moment.
"Come on Regina. I'm still me" she said in desperation to get the Queen to talk to her. She was as still the woman she fell in love with, the woman that wanted a future with. That future was just coming a little sooner now.
She was right though. She was the one person she could confide in. Letting out the breath she was holding she met Amelia's gaze that helped her calm down "She said nobody believes I can protect this town".
The assassin was taken aback by Dark Saviors statement as her brows furrowed together for a split second before replying "That's not true. Everybody knows how far you've come".
"Well, they may not see me as the Evil Queen anymore, but I need to prove to them I can be more" she explained to the red head "Forgiving me is one thing, but... it doesn't mean they're ready to be led by me, ready to trust me".
"Look whatever it is, you have the same support system the savior has. We'll beat it. Like we always have" but her words didn't seem to convince the former Queen as she continued to glance to the other's behind her partner helping the people of Camelot get settled into their new surroundings.
Taking her love's hand into her's brown eye's met green as the redhead lightly gripped the former Queen's hand "Before we went to Camelot, when I was worrying about what fight was ahead of me, do you remember what you told me?" she nodded.
"-You told me that whatever that fight was, that I could count on you being there right by my side. That promise goes both way's Queenie. Whatever it is the Dark Swan is talking about, you can count of me to be there, even if I'm just a little bit slower than before" a light scoff escaped the former Queen's lips as she rolled her eyes at the light 'joke' she made towards herself "Whatever it takes".
"Whatever it takes" the former Queen repeated before throwing herself into the Assassin wrapping her arms around the woman's waist as Amelia did the same.
She could feel Amelia's firm baby bump pressing into her own as she held the red head tighter against her feeling its warmth through their clothes, wondering why she never felt it before now that she knew, or maybe she didn't want to know at the time.
Ignorance is Bliss, as they say.
The embrace made the Queen think that they could make this work, if there was one think she knew she would not be letting the former Assassin go anytime soon. They had worked too hard to let something like this to tear this apart. The assassin needed her now more than ever as she endeavored to bring this child into a world full of hero's, villain's, ex husbands and Dark Ones.
"Everything will be okay. I promise" Amelia said into her head "I love you".
The assassin braced herself for the her love not to repeat the term of endearment, but she knew she couldn't expect the woman to welcome this chance with no warning.
"I love you too" Regina said much to the redhead's relief "Your sounding more like Mary Margaret everyday".
"It's the hormones" Amelia replied making the woman laugh into the embrace.
They are going to be okay, she just knew it.
Elsewhere in the camp King Arthur had been left hammering in a peg into the ground of his tent when a voice he knew called out his name.
"Arthur!" Queen Guinevere called out to her love as she saw him for the first time since waking up in this new world. Hearing his wife call him he dropped what he was doing.
"Guinevere" he states running to towards his love to meet her halfway, pulling her into a loving embrace, lifting her off the King spun his love in a circle before settling her back down to hold her tight against him.
"Oh, thank God you're all right. I feared the worst" he told his wife as they parted allowing Guinevere to smooth her hands down his armored chest to end up at his belt to check that they still possessed their most prized possession only to find the sword missing.
"Where is it? Where is Excalibur?" she quickly asks him in worry.
"I'm afraid it was missing when I arrived here" he informs her as David overhears the conversation between the husband and wife.
"Don't worry. If your swords here, we'll find it" he tells them with a reassuring smile as Anastasia hears the King speaking to the Prince.
"You know of Excalibur?" the blonde saw how tense the King sudden got at David's knowledge. Not noticing his sudden change the Prince nodded in confirmation "How?" he questions the man further.
Chuckling in amusement Storybrooke's remaining sheriff answered the King "In this realm, you're kind of a legend" he informs him before leaving the couple to themselves as the embraced once again.
Once they were alone again the King parted with his wife to take her hands into his "Do not fret my love. For I may have lost Excalibur but I found something else" he says directing his wife to look at the redhead that stood with Captain John Smith.
The Captain had been staying in Camelot until he repaired his ship before leaving to find his place in the world once again.
"It's her" the Queen of Camelot breathed out to see the face she Arthur had burned into their memories for so long.
"I know and look closer" he instructs her just as the woman, Amelia, moves in way that her pregnant bump was visible under what she was wearing.
"She with child" she states worry lacing her voice, "Arthur.."
"It matter's not" he tells her taking her face between his hands "We may not have Excalibur, but was have something we have been waiting to come for years. We will find a way to bring Juno back to her vessel and she will snuff out the darkness once and for all".
Having finally been given a task that wouldn't too much energy, the pregnant assassin along with Robin and Roland had been given the task of gathering firewood for the campsite, the young boy picking up branches he could manage in his own making the Assassin smile fondly at the young boy she had grown to love as her own since Marian died.
The thief stuck close to the assassin as they watched Roland gathering smaller branches into his smaller arms as the pair walked together he gave her branches he had picked up from the ground not allowing the pregnant woman to even attempt to bend down to the forest floor.
"You look tired" she said handing her another piece of fallen branch from the man.
"You and every other person here has said that today" she tells him "I really must look bad huh?".
"Not in the slightest" he tells her "We're all just a bit more concerned now with-".
"I know" she finished for him. She would have to get used to everyone treating her like a piece of breakable china doll now, she hated it.
"Milady, I must speak to you about a sensitive matter" he starts.
"Robin, every conversation we have had lately has always come with some degree of sensitivity, by now you should be able to just ask".
"Right, sorry. I feel I must ask since I know you would tell me the truth, no matter what it is".
"Robin, what do you need to know". The pair came to a stop from their leisurely walk, he turned to her to speak. She knew what he was about to ask, it had played on her mind as well since she took the test.
"Is the child mine?" he quietly asked the assassin, just to complicate thing just a little more in his life.
He was right to ask. No one knew but them of their night together during the year back in the Enchanted Forest. It was after Monteriggioni had fallen, before she had left to try and find Tom, he was just there at the wrong moment.
When all her grief over losing the her home and the people had overwhelmed her. It was the same day Maria and the majority of the residents had left the palace to find somewhere else to settle down, not wanting to share the same castle with one of the villains' some of them had come to Monteriggoni to escape. She tried to ease their worries only for her words to go ignored.
The only people that had stayed were the thieves and mercenary's that hadn't died in the battle wanting to carry out the promise they had made to Lance and Le Beau. She never deserved their loyalty.
Regina was right about suspecting something had happened as years of feelings had spilled over into a night the redhead instantly regretted.
"No" she simply told him.
A breath of relief he hadn't realized he had been holding onto left his nose hearing her confirm what had been thinking about ever since the previous night. But that relief came with a slither of bitterness on his tongue as his mind went to the woman who was actually carrying his child. Her words to her in the bar rang true. They would never be connected that way. And he knew that she would always choose Regina in the end.
"That's good" he forced himself to say "For you, I mean".
"And for you Robin. You don't need my situation added to your own".
"Yes. Quite right" he said clearing his throat.
"Let me get these back to camp" indicating to wood in her arms wanting to leave the conversation as soon as possible "Then we can get a drink in Granny's later?".
"Always" he confirmed with a relaxed smile.
Turning herself around the assassin headed back to the camp where in the distance she saw Regina speaking to Mary Margaret with Anastasia speaking to John nearby, only to freeze mid-step as she felt her whole body come out in goosebumps and chill sensing something powerful behind her as her breath got caught in the back of her throat.
Dropping the firewood in her arms the assassin went on full alert as she quickly turned around to see a skeletal like creature with wings and bright red eye's hovered over her as she felt her throat close up, before the creature let out blood curdling scream in her face.
The scream alerted the thief nearby as he looked to see what had made that terrible noise.
She'd met death many times, but she'd never thought it would look like this. She couldn't breathe let alone call out for help as it continued to stare into her eyes.
Robin didn't know what to do as he saw pure terror etched on the red head face for the very first time, he had known her, as he couldn't move his feet to go aid his friend.
"Auntie!" Roland's screams caught the attention of Regina and the other's as they saw a creature hovering over the Assassin.
"Help!" Robin screamed out for the assassin to catch the attention of the others nearby, throwing the firewood to the ground the thief ran to help his friend only for the creature to easily bat the thief out the way sending the man across the ground before turning it's attention back to the terrified assassin.
Hearing the thief call out for help the four in the distance turned on alert to see what was happening as the four sprinted forward to the edge of the small clearing coming to a skidding stop behind Roland as the former Queen quickly took a hold of the young boy.
The blonde assassin continued as she threw a small blade towards the creature only for it easily dodge the flying object. Her attack only made the creature angry as all could do is watch in horror as the creature picked the pregnant Assassin off the ground and fly away with the vulnerable red head.
"Amelia!".
The chase was on for the creature that took off with Amelia in the woods. David led the rescue party running through the woods with John on is tail as they Regina, Mary Margaret, Anastasia, Leroy and King Arthur ran after the Prince to search for the woman.
"This way!" David instructed the small party through the forest.
"There it is!" King Arthur yelled pointing into a small clearing where the creature swooped down with Amelia in it's arms letting out a horrifying shriek. Seeing an opportunity to get her love back, the former Queen stopped waving her hands as purple smoke engulfed her body disappearing form her spot.
"Where'd she go?!" John asked whoever was listening. Before anyone could answer they were running again until they found Regina again stopping the creature in its path only for the creature to drop Amelia heavily onto her side hard onto the forest floor unconscious behind the Queen.
The former Queen quickly summoned a fireball into her hand as the creature went to get its prize again heading straight for the Evil Queen.
"You're not taking them anywhere" she tells the creature throwing the ball of fire at the creature only to miss, only for the creature to send her into a tree trunk in retaliation.
With the obstacle out of the way the creature went for Amelia's unconscious form again hovering over the Assassin as Regina got back up angrier than ever, her voice gaining the creatures attention away from the unconscious redhead.
"So, you want to do this the hard way?" she growled out summoning a fireball in both hands "Good, because I love the hard way" but before she could send them into creature, the latter once again swiped out at her sending her crashing into another tree before landing heavily onto the ground as the creature scooped Amelia once again before flying off, leaving the former Queen trying her best to get back onto her feet. She could only watch as her soulmate was taken away from her as blood dripped from her nose.
"Regina!" she heard Mary Margaret shouted her name in concern as the woman herself threw herself onto the floor to tend to the clearly hurt older woman "You okay?" she was asked as John ran past her to find his ex-wife only to find the creature had gotten away from them.
"I'm alive, if that's what you mean" Regina replied.
"Where'd it go?" John asked the other looking up in the sky, but when he didn't get an answer he turned to Regina "Where'd it go!" he yelled at the former Queen only for the blonde assassin to pull the Captain away from the woman.
"Calm down" Leroy told the privateer making the man whirl around to face the dwarf that dared to tell him to calm down as he balled his fist at his side.
"Calm down?! How can I that thing has my baby!" John threw an angry fist towards the dwarf only to feel two strong hands wrapped over his shoulders and arms as David and the King use their collective strength to haul the bigger man away from the dwarf and throw him onto the forest floor as Anastasia joined Mary Margaret to check on the woman that had tried to save her sister.
"She needs help" Mary Margaret tell her husband from her place next to the blonde assassin.
"Leroy, get her to the hospital" David instructed the dwarf rejoining his wife to stand being the former Queen trying to stop her from going after the creature.
"I think he needs the hospital more" Leroy pointed out the privateer who was sat on the forest floor, his knee's to his chest as he tried to control his breathing, leaving Anastasia to watch them all fall apart as her sister had been taken away.
"Oh God" he panted staring at the floor pulling at the hair on his head "No, no, no, not again" he repeated to himself rocked himself back and forth in panic as the pixie haired teacher tried to wipe the blood coming from the former Queen's nose only for her to be pushed away.
"No, no, I have to go after... I have to go after that thing, Melia…" Regina protested further trying to get out of David's hold.
"You have to get checked out" the teacher insisted.
Regina stopped struggling to look at Mary Margaret as she remembered Emma's words "You don't believe I can do this. That's what this is".
"We won't let anything happen to her or the baby" Mary Margaret tried to reassure the Queen as she winced in pain "But you need to let someone look at you, that's what Lia would want for you in this moment, her job was to protect you to keep you safe" the Princesses words seemed to work as Regina calmed down at the promise Amelia had made all those years ago in the carriage.
"Go" Regina finally relented. Mary Margaret looked up to her husband as he was the first to start the chase once again with Arthur. The pair pulled John off the ground to continue their search for the redhead that had been taken by the skeletal creature.
"Anya go with them" Mary Margaret tells he blonde assassin next to her making the younger woman look at her in surprise "You're are only one that can keep a level head to track that thing and Lia. Go" she add's.
Nodding in agreement the conflicted younger woman takes her spare vial of medicine out of her jacket. Taking the brunette by surprise the assassin takes her hand pressing a small vial into her hand.
"Here, take this" she tells the former Queen, pushing it into her hand "I'll find her" she promises the woman before following after the men to track her sister down.
Camelot
"it's a nice tree I guess" Amelia commented about the tree Merlin was trapped in to Regina "I mean I've seen a lot of trees in my life but this just might be in my top five easily" the pair had been staring at the tree for a good few minutes.
"Why do I get the feeling you want to climb it?" Regina mumbled to the former Assassin, before the red head could reply they heard a masculine vice behind them answered the Queen.
"Because she's already worked out how to get to the top" a voice the couple hadn't heard in three months, the women turn around to see Captain John Smith walking towards them wearing a wide grin.
Dressed in his signature blue shirt and pants, the deep maroon boots covered his feet that Elsa had insisted on gifting him, his ensemble now included a cape that draped over the back of his right shoulder with a broach that kept on in place as the assassin's eye's seemed to light-up seeing the man she married once again.
"Fantastic" Regina drawled out disgruntled as she folded her arms as Amelia left her side closed the distance between her and the privateer. He thick arms engulfed his ex-wife in a loving hug that lasted a little too long for the Queen's liking.
Once they parted John looked up to see Regina waiting patiently for the man to see her "Regina" John greeted the former Evil Queen with a polite nod.
"Captain" she replied with a tight equal smile.
"What are you doing here?" Amelia asked her ex-husband holding onto his arms, almost afraid to let go in case he disappears again. He'd hadn't changed in the months they had been separated; this hair was shorter than the last time she had seen him. He looked good.
"I'm staying here while some repairs are being made to the ship Elsa gifted me before I left Arendelle. I heard that King Arthur had welcomed in a group of people from another land, I took a good guess it had to be you" Regina heard a laugh escape the Assassins mouth at John's attempt at a weak joke.
"Oh Odin" Amelia groaned out rubbing her head in frustration "If only if you knew the real reason we're here".
"I take not for Merlin?" John sais looking at the tree inthe courtyard.
"We are, but as usual it's a little more complicated".
"Like always?".
"Like always" she confirmed with a small smile.
"You look amazing" the former Queen heard John tell her partner shaking his head in disbelief, she practically glowed in front of him as he took in his wife's appearance after months apart "I hate it" he admitted to her.
"You look good too Cap" she sighed out.
Clearing her throat the former Queen reminded the redhead of her presence, making the pair look up at the former Queen who quickly turned casually away from Amelia's judgmental glares fiddling with her hair.
"You both seem a little preoccupied at the moment, but I'll see you at the ball tonight, right?" John said stepping away from the red-head.
"You will" she tells him "The usual suspects are somewhere in the castle, go say hi, they'll be happy to see you".
"You think? Or will they see me as the guy that abandoned his wife and son".
"They will, but they have a good habit of forgive and forget".
"Right" he nodded "See you tonight" John said before he made himself leave his estranged wife.
"That was rude dear" Amelia said as she returned to her Queen, reaching out she took Regina's face into her hands "Is that a little green I see?" she whispered in a teasing tone and smile.
Regina harshly pushed the Assassin away from her making her step back
An "Ah!" escaped Amelia's lips as her hands flew to her stomach and her face scrunching up in pain Regina's eyes widened in shock at the sudden realization she had managed to hurt the red head to the extent she felt it.
"I'm sorry" she quickly told the Assassin "Are you okay?".
"Nothing, I'm fine" she dismissed the Queen's concern "just a little sore from when..".
"When you tried to save me yourself" Regina finished off for the redhead.
"Just a little bruising, I'm fine" the former Queen let out a sigh as they were joined by Percival one of King Arthur's knights who stopped and knelt in front of the woman holding out a jewelry box in his hands, presenting it to the former Queen.
"My lady" he greeted the 'savior'.
"For me?" Regina asked the knight with a surprised smile.
"You are the Savior, after all" Percival continued as he opened the box to reveal a necklace to the woman "His Majesty would be honored if you would wear this to the ball tonight".
Regina gasped as she took the necklace out of the box to see a quartz crystal as a pendant. Handing the necklace to the redhead, she turned around and moving her long hair out of the way as Amelia unclasped the chain. The Assassin carefully put the necklace on the woman she loved clasping the chain back together before pulling her hair back out.
The Queen turned to show the Assassin the gemstone that laid perfectly on her chest "I look forward to a dance this evening" he tells the 'savior' before looking at the red head.
"His Majesty wished me to inform you that he has found some traditional Brotherhood robes for your Creed to wear at the ball, he looks forward to having the Assassin's return to their rightful home of Camelot after so long away".
"Tell His Majesty he has my deepest thanks, I will make sure I'll thank him in person tonight" with a nod the knight left the pair.
"You're lapping it up aren't you?" Regina scoffed at the Assassin once the knight was out of earshot, referring to the way she, Anastasia, and Tom special treatment because of the ancient order they belonged to.
"What can I say? It's finally paying off for you after all these years to be associated to me" Amelia tell her giving her Queen a sweet kiss on the lip earning a light chuckle from her Queen "and he's not the only one looking forward to a dance with the Savior" she added making the former Queen's smile fall from her face as the redhead turned to face the tree once again.
"Mom, I look stupid, I'm not going" Tom complained to his mother from behind his changing screen in his room he was sharing with Henry.
As the evening quickly approached, as did the ball, which meant they had to get dressed for the occasion. The redhead was disturbed when she was putting on the finishing touches to her hair that had been tamed enough so that it sat behind her shoulders with two long fishtail braid at the front, neatly tucked behind her ear. There was a knock on the door.
The robe she had been provided with fitted tight around her midsection as she tried her best to keep it to her shapely appearance, but thankfully the thick purple cloak hid what was starting to make it's appearance over the last few weeks as the belt covered the red sash that had been tied around her midsection would easily hide the bump that was growing by the day.
To her surprise and dismay, Henry was stood there ready for evening to inform her that Tom was refusing to come out of his room after putting on the robes that had been left for him. Sending Henry ahead the redheaded assassin found her sister hovering outside Tom and Henry's room waiting for her to arrive after Henry had informed her in passing of the teen's refusal to attend the ball.
"I'm sure you don't honey" Amelia spoke up from the door as her son dressed behind the screen "It your first time in robe's, you'll look fine".
"Don't lie to the boy sister" Anastasia spoke up from next to her in her forest green robe's.
The redhead sent her adopted sister a glare of annoyance as her son called out from behind the changing screen.
"Okay I think I'm done" the heard Tom say before stepping out from behind the screen looking to his mother and Aunt'.
The robes they had found for him was royal blue that reached down to his knees, the hood was up over his head and ruffled red scarf was tucked into his collar with a white tunic and waistcoat underneath with various belts that kept the robes together. Brown leather edged the lapels of the main robe with brown gloves, with the ensemble coming together as her father's leather gauntlets that rested on his forearms.
The sisters were left in stunned silence as they looked upon their son and nephew as he stood before them waiting for either of them to say anything about his appearance. The clock had seemed to turn back for the pair as they looked upon the sixteen year old that looked so much like his grandfather.
"I knew it was stupid" the teen huffed as he went to pull at the buckle that kept the robe together making the pair jump back into reality.
"Tom, Stop" his mother jumped forward to stop him undoing the last 40 minutes he had spent putting everything together "You look fine" she tells him as before looking back at her sister "But you know what Stasia, there is something wrong about this isn't there?" she asked
"Yes sister. I see were he's gone wrong" the blonde assassin went along with her sister's small ploy.
"What?" he exclaimed in panic looking between his mother and aunt waiting for them to point out what he had gotten wrong "What's wrong?".
"Go to the mirror and I'll show you" without waiting another second the teen spun on the ball of his foot to cross the room to stand in front of the full length mirror as he tried to see the piece of detail that looked out of place, straightening out any creases he had found before double checking the way his gauntlets sat on his arms, his mother silently joined him at the mirror, she gently tugged the back of the hood that covered his head down onto his shoulders to reveal his neatly combed back hair that hid the natural curl in his short brown hair that parted at the side.
Something that always reminded her that way his father use to wear his hair when she fist aw him from the deck of the Godspeed.
"There" she whispered neatly laying the hood over his shoulders "Perfect" she gently told him through the mirror. She couldn't feel more prouder as she did now as she took in her son's image in front of her. He was the perfect bend of her and her first love, thankfully inheriting his kind nature from his father and the strength from the Montague blood-line.
"Thanks" he tells her in the mirror as he felt ten times better about going downstairs to face everyone for the first time in a set of assassin robes
"Never be afraid to show your face , because one day, it just might be the face that give them the more hope than any hero could ever give them".
"I won't Mom" he tells her.
"Good" she says with a smile on her face "Come on, we've got a ball to attend, plus there's someone down there I think you'll be happy to see".
"Really?" he asks as a curious brow rose on his face.
"Mmmm" she hummed in agreement dragging him towards the door "And I'm defiantly not talking about MJ".
While the assassins were being welcomed by the people of Camelot, the former Queen was having second thoughts about the ball as she found her way to Mary Margaret and David's room the King had provided for their small family with a small alcove for baby Neal.
The Princess and her husband were dressed and ready for the ball as they went through last minute instructions with Doc, Neal's babysitter for the night.
"Now, if he gets fussy, he probably just needs to be changed" Mary Margaret tells the dwarf.
"Are you sure you don't want us to get Granny?" David asks the dwarf.
"If I go to the ball, I'll just get stuck being Grumpy's wing man" Doc reassured the man just as Regina walked to the doorway having overheard the conversation.
"I can watch him. I'm not going" Regina tells them before walking back out with the Prince and Princess followed after her.
"But you have to. Everyone's expecting you" Mary Margaret argued.
"I should be figuring out how to free Merlin, not fox-trotting my way across Club Med-ieval" Regina argued to the pair.
"Regina" the Princess pressed not believing her excuse.
"What?".
"The truth" she pressed the older woman.
"I can't go, all right? I can't" she tells the younger woman.
"Because why?" Mary Margaret continued to press.
"Because" Regina repeated "Because I don't know how to dance" she finally admitted.
"Well, that can't be possible" Mary Margaret scoffed at her excuse "You and I went to dozens of balls together".
"Where your father was more interested in dancing with his precious daughter than his wife" Regina corrected her stepdaughter.
"I doubt Amelia will mind if you step on a few toes. I mean she does own steel toed boots, right?" David jokes earning the back of his wife's hand in his stomach earning a small 'oomph' from her husband as a sly smirk grew on the Queen's face at the Prince's pain from his ill-timed attempt at a joke.
"This isn't about Lia, is it?" Mary Margaret inquired with the older brunette.
"People are expecting a savior tonight, not an ex-evil queen" Regina admitted her anxiety over their plan "How will they ever believe I can free Merlin if I can't even convince them I know how to dance?".
"You can if we teach you" the Princess suggested.
"No" the Queen protested.
"Doc" David instructed the dwarf who crossed the room to a music box.
David bowed to the woman holding out his hand with flare "Your Majesty" he started only for his wife to stop them.
"Wait, sorry" his wife stopped him "The first thing my mother taught me about dancing... You have to learn to move in a dress, not a sensible pantsuit".
"Fine" she huffs rolling her eyes at the couple. Using her magic to change into a black evil queen dress. Two different expressions grew on the couple's face's as a look of disapproval from the woman while David simply just looked with squinted eyes.
"What?" Regina asks looking between the pair.
"It's a little... scary" David answered using his words carefully.
"What he means is if you want people to see you as the Savior, maybe you should go for something a bit less evil?" Mary Margaret tell her straight before Regina uses her magic to change herself into a pink dress that cut below her shoulders while her hair was tied up as the back of her head.
"Now, that is perfect" the Princess tells her "And it even matches your necklace".
Now with the perfect dress David placed a hand on her waist with the other grasping her hand as as placed a hand on his shoulder "All right, follow me" David instructed her "Just feel it. Step back with your left. All right?".
"Mm-hmm" she nodded still unsure.
"And..." David trailed as he started to lead the former Queen only for her to stumble. David stopped seeing the 'saviour' ready to give up "oh, oh, that's okay" he reassured the woman "That's all right. You're fine, you're fine. Ready? And... one, two, three. One, two, three. There you go" on the second attempt the Queen got the simple steps straight away as David led her smoothly around the small room with Mary Margaret and Doc watched on.
Unknown to the hero's and former villain Percival, one King Arthur's knights was watching on the dance lesson through the crystal that Regina wore around her neck through his fireplace
"Now, when we're done, everyone in Camelot will believe you're the Savior" he heard the Prince say to the woman he knew as the Evil Queen.
Entering the ball in trepidation of the evening festivities the three assassin's walked into the room unannounced only to be greeted by King Arthur and his Queen's themselves as a round of applause resounded around the room as the courtiers greeted the members of the Brotherhood of Assassin's that had been serving from the shadows for more than two centuries.
As the welcome died down and some small talk with the monarchs the redheaded assassin quickly sought out her ex-husband's presence as he quietly talking to Belle and Granny before pointing their son in his direction, while Anastasia stayed by her side as the teen practically jumped into his father's arms after so long apart.
She and Regina had made sure the Captain wasn't going to be seen as the bad guy for leaving, her talk to him before she and her partner had to return to the cabin seemed to have worked as she watched the reunion before her son became distracted as the stowaway MJ made her way over to her son in a simple floor length gown.
His eye's lit up as he introduced his father to the girl as the feeling in her gut only uncomfortably tugged, knowing she had to try and keep a close eye on her. She simple didn't believe how the girl 'accidentally' wondered into the restroom just before the twister took the building to Camelot.
But for now her suspicions would have to be put aside for the time being as she, Killian and David stood at the bottom of the stone steps awaiting their 'dates' for the night to be presented to the court, suddenly becoming aware of how tight the collar around her neck had become as they were left waiting.
"Nervous love?" the pirate teased the assassin from his place next to her as he watched her pull the high collar away from her neck once again. She hadn't been this nervous since she stood alone in the training ring the first time Iago held a war hammer in his hands.
"Terrified" she admitted gulping making David chuckled at the assassin's expense.
"There's no need" David tells her with a knowing smile"I think you'll like what you'll see" he teased making the red head look over to him with a furrowed brow just as Mary Margaret and Emma's entrance's.
"Presenting Lady Emma and Lady Mary Margaret" the footman announced. Looking up was the mother daughter duo in white dresses as the blonde wore a daisy tiara on her head. There whole court watch as the lead down the stairs leading them to their escorts David and Hook respectfully stopping just in front of them bowing to another as the court applauded.
"Swan, you look..." Hook trailed off as he rose from his deep bow to his love.
"I know" she replied. Emma glanced over to Amelia who gave the blonde a secret wink of her eye distracting her from woman she had been waiting on as David and Hook took their partner's away.
Stepping to the side to stand center of the stairs, the assassin's eye's were drawn to the image before as her soulmate seemed to appear out of nowhere at the top of the staircase.
"Presenting the Savior" the footmen announce felt her heart stop seeing the woman she loved up there as the applause that rang out behind her faded out as their eye's finally met. She was stunning. She hadn't even realized her love was making her way down with the assistance of a footman until she was almost halfway down.
"Fuck it" the assassin said to herself as she made herself run up the staircase meeting her soulmate not caring that the whole of Camelot was watching as stopped just short of her love, offering a gloved hand to her.
Emerald eye's met the hers as Regina the redhead's hand her love to place a loving kiss on her knuckles before looking back to meet her brown eyes looking into hers.
'"Sorry" she chuckles out "I couldn't wait" Amelia tells the Queen with a smirk.
"You never could".
Present Day
"You son of a bitch" Regina raged as she stormed into the back of Gold's pawnshop, the man himself was in a coma on the makeshift bed taking as seat next to the older man "You made me like this. You made me the Evil Queen" she spat at the man in anger "You're the reason no one believes in me. And I'm gonna prove you wrong. I'm gonna prove them all wrong" she paused fighting off the tears that threatened to spill "I just..." she sighed when she was interrupted by the man's wife.
"Regina" Belle comes through the curtain with a book in her hand "I, uh... I found something".
Leaving Amelia's Uncle to sleep Regina followed the librarian into the shop to the information she had found on the creature that had taken her love and her unborn child.
"A Fury?" Regina asked the bookworm. The book illustration fit the features on the creature when she faced it herself.
"A demon sent from the underworld to collect the unpaid price of magic" Belle explained further.
"Someone used magic in Camelot and didn't pay up".
"Yeah, but, Regina, the Fury doesn't come for just any price. It comes when the price for magic is a life".
"Amelia" she realized "Y-you mean that demon is here to drag her to the underworld?".
"Yeah, but the portal only opens when the moon reaches the zenith".
"Then there's still some time to stop it" Regina went to leave to go and save her love but was stopped when Belle pulled her arm back.
"It's... it's not that simple. I'm afraid there's only one way to save Amelia and the baby. Someone has to give their life's in their place".
Camelot
With the ball in full swing the open aired ballroom was full of dancers, as courtiers and the residents of Storybrooke watch on as the Charming couple, Emma and Hook and Regina and Amelia danced away.
On the sidelines Anastasia watched her sister happily dance with her love like they had no care in the world with her sister's ex John Smith. After a brief introduction with the Captain and Robin Hood watching on, keeping a close eye on Tom and MJ who seemed to be in a world leaving Henry as an unfortunate third wheel to his older cousins 'date' only for the younger boy take a liking to a young girl across the dance floor.
"Would you like to dance?" Captain John Smith suddenly asked her making her turn to face him. A look of disinterest and boredom had remained on the younger woman's face ever since entering the ballroom with her sister and nephew as she got a good look at the man that had hurt her sister.
She had to admit he was a very handsome made with a strong broad shoulders that reminded her of the comic book's Tom had shown to her. Captain America if she remembered right. But the man failed to live up the fictional hero as she remembered the way he abandoned his wife and son.
"No" she plainly told him making Robin let out a snort of laughter at his friends failed attempt. Giving a man a pat on the back the thief stepped up with an air of confidence as he held out his hand towards the blonde assassin.
"Milady" with a roll of her eye's the blonde took the thief's hand as they walked onto the dance-floor to take their place along with the others.
Across the dance floor the former Queen and Assassin did their best to keep up with the others as the former smiled her way through the dance moves. The assassin led her Queen through the dance having been well versed in the art since she was young as she spun Regina under her arm before bring her Queen back into her body making them collide with their noses grazing each other.
"I think, this is the first dress I don't want to take off you" Amelia tells the Queen taking the latter by surprise.
"Oh really?" the former Queen replied with a wicked smile that made her want to forget about the ball entirely to spend the rest of the evening alone with the woman she loved "Will I ever get to take it off?".
"Never" Amelia gently shook her head "I want you to wear this to the office" Amelia says catching her lip in a searing kiss before pulling away "at home" she kissed her again "In bed" she mumbled against the Queens mouth before pulling apart by Regina's hand on her chest.
"Melia.." she drawled in warning the Assassin reminding the redhead where they were.
"Fine, only because I still don't trust everyone here" she whispered as they were interrupted by Percival one of Arthur's knights.
He just kept popping out everywhere it seemed.
"May I cut in?" he asked the Assassin "It would be an honor to dance with the Savior".
"Yes of course" Regina answered seeing the flash of annoyance in the red heads face. Plastering a fake smile on her lips Amelia motioned for the knight to take her partner's hand, before the knight took her further into the middle of the dance floor away from the assassin.
She forgot how possessive she was sometimes when it came to her and someone else.
Standing on the side-lines Amelia watched Regina and Percival dance with her eyes solely focused on the woman in the pastel pink dress.
"I trust you're having a lovely evening?" the knight asked her as they started to dance.
"Oh, yes. Everything's..." she cut herself off when she saw Henry talking to a girl around his age at the edge of the dance floor as he spun her "Who's that girl talking to my son?".
"The better question is, who are you?" Percival continued as he led her through the dance.
A nervous chuckle left her throat "What are you talking about?".
"Let me tell you a story. Many years ago, a boy returned to his village in the Enchanted Forest to find it ablaze. Villagers screaming, terror in their eyes... his whole world burning like a funeral pyre. The boy hid, praying for mercy. But none came, only an angel of death. And she slipped through the flames, relishing in the horror she wrought" he turned his head looking at Amelia who was still watching them, continuing to dance with the former Queen.
Behind the Assassin, Regina saw a man with a hood slowly approached her, the assassins being too distracted to notice the man as Percival continued with his story "But before she escaped, she saw the boy. And amidst the carnage, do you know what she did? She smiled at him".
"You were the boy" Regina realized.
"And you were the Evil Queen and she, the Black Widow" Regina instantly dropped his hand making Amelia's eyebrow furrow in confusion from the edge of the dance floor.
"Who else knows?" she whispered to the knight "Who have you told?".
"No one".
"Why not?".
"Because Arthur would have stopped me from doing this".
Amelia stopped watching her soulmate just as a high pitch whistle resounded around the open air stopping the dancers as confusion grew, but before she knew it someone one had sneaked up behind her and sunk a long silver dagger in between her neck and her shoulder.
Time seemed to slow down for the assassin as she felt every inch of the blade easily sunk further into her skin as she stiffened as she fought her knee's from buckling under the forcefulness of her attacker trying to push her down in a way so that he or she could finish the job easily and cleanly.
But they sorely underestimated what they were dealing with or who.
A scream from somewhere in the ballroom alerted the other's to what was happening to the redheaded assassin as her as the former Queen stood frozen feeling helpless as her soulmate's eye's bugged out as pain.
"MOM!" Tom screamed out for his mother from across the room as he tried to run for his mother only for the strong hand of his father to stop the teenager from interfering with whatever was going on.
The scene caught up to the other's as just as quickly as the man behind the assassin as the man suddenly found a blade being plunged into his own eye, with an extra push the blade killed the man behind her distracting the Queen as Percival drew his own sword intent on hurting her Queen.
"Regina!" Amelia screamed across the room out seeing the sword. The crowd dispersed as the bloodied Assassin ran into the crowd ripping the dagger from her shoulder and tackling the knight to the floor knocking the sword out of the knights as hell broke loose around them.
As the knight manged to get the redheaded assassin on her back, a number of hooded men that matched the one that had attacked the woman only a few seconds earlier had come from nowhere to run to the space created headed to aid the knight only for Anastasia to step away from Robin to fight them off as Tom retched himself from his father's grip to run into the fight.
Seeing the unprovoked attack Emma raised her hand to stop the carnage only for Hook to grab her hand "No, Swan! You can't use dark magic".
"TOM! STOP!" John and Regina tried to call out to the teenager as former Queen saw a wild look in his eye she had only seen in his mother's before during her Widow days as the novice assassin let his natural fight or flight instincts kick in as an attack swung a sword at him only to parry it with his extended hidden blade.
But their voices failed to reach his ears as the teen trapped the man's free hand under his arm before sending a hard elbow into his face, as the man's neck became exposed, he swung out left arm so that the end of the blade slid across the man's neck, before driving his right blade into the man's chest several time's before finally letting the dead body fall onto the floor.
Anastasia dealt with the her assailant more brutally as she sent her blades into a man's chest several time before dropping his body onto the floor, while Amelia continued to fight tooth and nail despite the blood that seeped from the open wound on her neck as they both tried fought for the sword that was only an arms length away from them.
Stealing a sword from an armored knight David ran into the fray just as Percival had managed to re-gain his sword about to drive it into his friends neck driving the sword into Percival chest killing him before pushing the knight off the assassin with his foot as the other assassin's stood guard daring anyone else in the crowd to try and cause more harm to their family
"Amelia! Amelia!" Regina exclaimed as she rushed forward in-between the guarding Assassin's, throwing herself onto the floor to see Amelia lying still on ground with her eye's closed as wet blood escaped a wound on her side and her shoulder "No! No! No, no, no! No!".
The teen did his best to keep the bile he felt in the back of his throat from coming up as the adrenaline from killing for the very first time. He knew he shouldn't have done that, but what choice did he have?.
"Thomas" Anastasia called out to her nephew in horror as she realized what he had done for the very first time "What have you done?".
"Swan!" Regina yelled stepping into the home that new Dark One had made base since returning to Storybrooke "Where the hell are you?" this was her final option of getting Amelia back.
The Dark Swan appeared in the open front door that the Queen had left making her look back "You know, it's customary to bring a gift for a housewarming. Maybe a nice bottle of wine" Emma suggested at the intruder.
"We need to talk" the former Queen tells the Dark One pacing the hallway of the house.
"I suppose we could bottle that rage and drink it instead" the Dark One suggested to the Queen.
"You're right... I'm not the Saviour".
"Glad you finally caught up with the rest of us" Emma quipped sarcastically
"I don't have a choice. I know the only way to stop the Fury is to pay its price".
"Then why aren't you off paying it?" she asked her.
"Because I know what it is" she tells woman "A life. I won't sacrifice someone else to save Amelia".
"Now you're going to be heroic? Now life is precious to you?".
"Emma... Listen to me. I know you. The good you... is still in there".
"You of all people know there are no good or bad versions of ourselves. It is just me".
"Then call the Fury off" she called the woman's bluff "It's your test".
"No" Emma simply tells her.
"No?".
"Let me make myself clear, Regina... I am done fixing your problems".
"My problems?!" she exclaimed in disbelief "You started this. You called it here".
"Oh, you think I did this?" Emma retorted.
"Would I be here otherwise?".
"That's your problem, Regina... You're always looking for someone else to blame. I did not summon that monster. The price is not mine to pay".
"Then whose is it?" Regina scoffed at her.
"Yours" Emma answered as she took a menacing step forward making the former Evil Queen step back until she was out of her house "You are the one who did not pay the price of magic in Camelot. You want to save Amelia and her baby? You want everyone to believe you're the Savior? Then step up and do what needs to be done!"
Using her magic the Dark One slammed the door in Regina's face leaving the former Queen to deal with the mess she had created in the first place.
Amelia was losing blood quickly as the adults took the unconscious Assassin to Merlin's Tower. Finding a table Regina threw its contents on the floor allowing John to place the injured red head onto the surface as Mary Margaret cradled the woman's head gently placing it on that table.
As blood soaked into the robe's, Regina jumped at the pouches that the Assassin strapped to her belt quickly unfasten it as fast as her hand could taking out a small bottle full of clear liquid, knowing her love had brought a few vials of her medicine with them.
"What are you doing?" John asked the Queen as he felt his heart pounding against it chest.
"It'll heal her, it has to" she tells the Privateer uncorking the bottle before she attempted to pour the liquid in the Assassins mouth only to be pulled back by a gloved hand.
"No!" Anastasia jumped forward gasping the former Queen's hand with eyes full of panic "You can't you that, you'll make it worse".
"How?!" Regina snapped at the blonde Assassin "It healed me".
"That potion is for flesh wounds, and bruises. It can't bring someone back from the brink of death, it only makes it them slip further towards it" Anastasia explained to the Queen thinking back to what her sister had done for her dying husband in his final moments. She had saved him from a long painful death by easing him through it instead.
"It can't save her" the blonde assassin tells her. In frustration the former Queen threw the small glass vial to the floor smashing it into pieces as she was quickly running out of idea's to save her soulmate.
"Can you heal her?" Mary Margaret suggested to her former stepmother. Holding out her hands over the wounds her hand glowed over the wound her hand shaken for something to work when Amelia woke up wide eyes gasping in pain she managed to turn her head to look at her Queen.
Regina saw the pain that filled her emerald eyes as she let out a whimper before her eyes fluttered closed one again as the brunette tried to use her magic once again to wake her love up only for her magic to falter once again.
"No!" the Queen yelled in anguish as she felt her heart clench in her chest.
"Why didn't it work?" David asked the sorceress.
An idea came to the Queen as she looked to the Charming couple "The sword". Holding out the sword the former Queen the older woman waved her hand over the weapon feeling the enchantment that had been placed on the pommel.
"Regina hurry" Anastasia warned the Queen as she gripped her sister's hand in hers. She was losing too much blood, even the scarf that Tom had been wearing wasn't doing enough to stem the blood on base of her neck. They had been fortunate that the hooded figure had a lousy sense of aim, but the man's poor aim wouldn't save her sister's life in the end.
John couldn't' stay in the room anymore. He could not watch the woman he still loved die while everyone fought among themselves. Pushing Hook out of the way the larger man stomped out of the room to wait for Amelia's eventual demise. The action didn't go unnoticed by the blonde assassin as she remained by her sister's side.
"This sword was enchanted to kill me" the former Queen sighed "My magic can't heal her" she says looking over to Emma "But maybe yours can".
"No. No, we can't let her use dark magic" Hook protested to the woman.
"Regina, this was the whole point of your pretending to be the Savior" Mary Margaret appealed to the woman as the red head's life hung in the balance.
"The whole point was not for Amelia to die" Regina retorted "And I'm not asking you" she says turning back to Emma "I'm asking... I'm asking her".
"I don't know what will happen if I use my powers again" Emma finally speaks for herself.
"I can use that dagger to make you do this, but I'm not. I'm asking you. I've lost love before, and I won't again. Please. Save her".
"All right. I'll try" she tells her friend stepping up the table as Regina stood back.
"Atta-girl" Rumpelstiltskin suddenly appeared in a lone chair making the new dark One look at the phantom.
"What are you doing here?" the others in the room looked to where she was looking at to see an empty wooden chair.
"I've told you... I'm here to help you embrace the darkness" the phantom answered the woman.
"Emma, who are you talking to?" Hook asked his love seeing her look at the empty chair.
"No one" the blonde answered walking towards the empty chair.
"This is too much for her" Hook voiced to the others.
"I'm fine. I can do this" Emma answered her boyfriends concerns as she looked straight at Rumplestilskin.
"Not yet, dearie" the phantom tells her "First, you must take a price for the magic" the last Dark One instructs her.
"I won't take one to save somebody".
"Well, sorry, dearie, but these are the rules. I didn't make them up. There has to be a price".
"Fine. I'll pay it".
"It doesn't work that way. She asked for the magic, she has to pay it" the phantom pointed to Regina as the Queen herself was leaning on the red head's knee desperate for the Assassin to hold out as long as she could until Emma could save her.
"It'll be different. I'm the Savior" Emma tells the phantom only to get a chuckle for a response.
"Emma, who are you talking to?" Regina asked the blonde "What's going on?".
"We don't have time for this madness!" Anastasia's temper finally got the better of her, she whirled around to face Amelia's Queen "For every second she's arguing with that fucking chair you are allowing my sister to suffer! Do something!".
There were only two options here, have Emma heal her sister, or use the healing tonics on her person to ease her sister towards Valhalla. As the seconds ticked by the second option was quickly becoming their only option. She would not allow these people to make her suffer anymore than she already is.
"It's okay" Emma mutes Anastasia's protest stepping back to the table "I can do this" .
Dragging the angry assassin away from the dying redhead, Emma held her hand over the Assassin's head with her hand glowing gold as she slowly moves its down, healing the stab wound she had suffered from the Percival's allies moving down her chest until she came to her abdomen making her jump back in surprise.
She felt it, the spark of new life that grew in the Assassin's stomach. She was pregnant. Her discovery made the new Dark One pause as she tried to figure out how it was possible only for her pause to be noticed by her partner.
"What is it?" Regina asks the blonde wanting an answer of why she stopped healing her.
"N-Nothing" she brushes off the question as she continues healing the deadly wound on the assassin.
As soon as the wound was healed the assassin gasped awake once again alive as well as the Queen rushed over to greet the awoken Assassin, calling out her name until her emerald eyes meet the Queen's brown.
"Hi" she breathed out with a smile before Regina's closed the distance between them capturing her lips in a searing kiss that would bring anyone back from the brink of death.
As Emma felt the darkness creeping up on her she turns and passionately kisses Hook in an attempt to pull herself back from the darkness the crept through her veins, only for Hook to pull away from the kiss.
"Emma, you all right?" Hook asked her.
"I'm fine. I feel a little woozy. I think I'll lie down for a bit" Emma tells the pirate as Amelia sits up watching the blonde to leave.
Present Day
The full moon was almost at its zenith as it lit up the eerie lake in Storybrooke as the fury swept down placing the unconscious Amelia onto the wet grass her hand falling onto her curved stomach as the Fury awaited for the recipient of the price first made hit appearance on the dark waters ahead.
White smoke danced across surface for the water towards the back lake as a boat emerged through with a hooded figure as the red head's rescuers ran up the incline to fine the Fury that had taken the woman they all cared about.
The search party that consisted of David, Mary Margaret, John, Anastasia, Grumpy and King Arthur. Seeing the creature that took his wife, the Captain sprinted for the woman only for the creature to send out a wave of magic that sent the rescue party onto the ground before turning its attention back to the unconscious Assassin, sucking out Amelia's life-force making her chest jerk up from the ground.
"No! Stop!" Regina exclaimed as she ran past the fallen rescue party stopping just in front of the Fury "If you want a life, take mine!" she offered herself as the Fury turn its attention towards her starting to suck the life force from the Queen herself.
"Regina, what are you doing?!" Mary Margaret yelled over the notice as she and others stood back up.
"What I should have done in Camelot!" she yelled over the fury's shrieks.
Mary Margaret rushed forward to stand next to older woman "You don't have to do this alone. I'm with you" the pixie haired teacher grabbed the former Queen's hand creating a two-person chain for the fury to take from.
"Me too!" David said taking Regina's other hand. John, Anastasia, King Arthur and Grumpy quickly joined the chain that quickly became too much for the Fury as its own magic backfired sending the creature away.
At this the hooded figure on the boat quickly retreated backwards as Regina rushed to her soulmate, throwing herself onto the ground taking the assassins head into her lap and another reached down on the growing bump as John took the other side.
"Oh, my god. Are you okay? Are you okay?" she repeated trying to rouse the woman up.
"Looks like you found a few believers Queenie" her soulmate croaked out opening her eyes. The former Queen let out a breathy laugh as relief washed over her and the rescue part behind her, the former Queen lean down to leave a sweet kiss on the Assassins lips before pulling away to look up at the pixie haired teacher.
"How did you know that would work?".
"Lucky guess" Mary Margaret shrugged as she and David panted as the recovered from the chain, they had created. Anastasia dragged herself towards her sister to find her safe and sound.
"Regina, we weren't gonna let you go" David told the woman as he continued to catch his breath.
"Standing up to that monster proved one thing..." Leroy said from his place as he panted "if anyone's gonna save this town, it's you".
Getting the all clear from Dr. Whale came as a huge relief for Amelia, John and Regina after the day the red head had to endure. She and the baby were fine. And by the looks of it as she and Regina were as walked to the diner to eat a well earned dinner.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you about it sooner" Amelia started as they took their time to walk down the street "I guess I wasn't ready to believe it had actually happened".
"Well you did manage to hide it well enough for so long, I should've known something was wrong" Regina admitted as they came to archway that led up to the diner. Amelia made them stop under the white archway making the former Queen look at her.
"Are you sure you wanna do this?".
Placing her hand onto the swollen bump the Queen felt the warmth that had caused so much strife between them over the last 12 hours, but as soon as she saw the Fury take her partner away from her, she knew what she wanted. She was just mad it took her that long to realize. Amelia was a part of her happiness in this world, and now this baby would be. She wanted what the redhead had been talking about before the darkness distracted them. A child to call their own.
"This isn't what I had in mind so soon" the former Queen tells her "And I know you love Henry as your own and I love Tom just as much, but with John now back.." she paused knowing how complicated their relationship would once again become with her 'husbands' presence in town.
"It'll l be messy, but this is what I want to do with you. Together" at that the brunette closes the distance between them to give the redhead a sweet kiss to her lips, to which the latter mirrored lacing her her fingers with the hand that was on her stomach. This baby was going to their future to whatever was coming their way. Before the kiss got any more heated the former Queen quickly pulled away from her love taking her hand with her "But first we need to some food into you".
Leading the pregnant Assassin in the diner where they were instantly spotted by the Charming couple with their grandson. As they passed the women lovingly stroked their son's arm while giving the former Princess quick reassurance that she and the baby were okay.
A wide smile grew on the red heads face as Roland ran to her in excitement of seeing her Aunt. Scooping the boy into her arms she nestled him onto her hip as they sat in the booth behind Mary Margaret and David.
Roland sat up on his knees to peer over Mary Margaret's shoulder to look at baby Neal as Robin quickly joined the assassin with his son sporting his own battle wound from the Fury on his forehead.
Opposite her sat her true love peering over a menu as the dwarfs walked past them with Sneezy still encased in stone, each of them greeting Amelia and Regina as they sat in the next booth along.
Peering around the diner she saw Tom and MJ at the end of the bar sat leaning into each other as they shared a plate of food. Anastasia sat at the bar with John sharing a drink together as they 'celebrated' saving someone they both loved.
For the first time since she had found out she was pregnant all those weeks ago, the assassin thought she would be able to this after all.
Camelot
Anastasia wasn't kidding. Coming from the brink of death hurt.
Sat on the edge of the table she had been laid upon in her dying moments the master assassin wiped away what blood still remained on her neck with the scarf Tom had been wearing for the evening as her Queen clenched her free hand. John had returned to the tower with the addition of Robin and Tom as they all listened as the King tried to apologize for the nights events.
All she wanted to do was go to sleep and forget about her brush with death, but that idea went out the window once she had found out what her son had done in order to keep her safe.
She tried to hold out for as long as she could until he managed to kill someone, even in self-defense. But she saw the look on his face the second she saw him. It was too late for her and Anastasia, but that first dark spot on his heart would take it's toll on him.
"I hope you'll accept my apology" he continued "We don't normally try and kill our guests in Camelot. Percival's actions were inexcusable" he told the groups before looking at Amelia "Especially towards members of the Brotherhood that Camelot have always held in high regard" he said to them as Emma came to the doorway.
"What about the others?" Anastasia asked the King.
"We believe Percival influence didn't reach beyond the group you and your novice dealt with" Amelia looked towards Tom, his stoic expression hadn't changed since the King entered the tower.
"But he was right" Regina spoke up "I am the Evil Queen".
"And I'm the Black Widow" the redhead admitted to the King.
"Camelot is a place of second chances" King Arthur said to her "Who you were doesn't matter, just who you are. And if you were able to save her with your magic, then you really are the Savior Merlin prophesied".
"Thank you".
As the Storybrooke residents headed to their rooms for the night, the redheaded assassin followed her son's to their shared room knowing she needed to talk to her son sooner rather than later on what happened that evening. Catching up the the young of the two, the assassin gently took a hold Henry by his arm, stopping him from entering the room with his best friend.
"Give us a minute?" she gently suggested to her little cousin.
"Of course Mom" he said with a nod knowing she needed to speak to his cousin inside. Placing a gentle kiss on the crown of his head the assassin let herself into the room to see her son sat on the edge of his bed staring out into the night sky through the night sky. Her son didn't even look at her as she took a seat next to him knowing she would have to do the talking.
"The first one's the hardest" she starts "My first was a rich merchant that used orphaned children as his workforce. I found out when and where he would be, I knew how I was going to do it and then when I was given permission, the day I was going to do it just so happened to be the day his wife and son visited him while at work. They looked so happy to see him. After a while I followed him on his way home and jumped him, he had no idea I was there. Do you know what he asked me in the end?".
Tom shook his head at her.
"If is son was going to be okay. He didn't care that he was being killed. I think he knew it was coming. All his last thoughts would be on his boy. I'm not going to sit here and tell you the next one will be harder, because it won't. It will be so easy; the hard part is stopping yourself, which is ten times harder when the first thing you want to do when your upset or angry is to hurt the thing that's upsetting you".
"They were going to hurt you" he finally looked at her with tear-stained cheeks "They nearly did".
"I know, but the important thing here is that they didn't. We were lucky Emma saved me, but you have to promise me you'll never do that again, it may be too late for me, but you have a better chance than I ever had, you have to be better than me. Killing is a choice not an option".
"The other's don't know that I adopted the name 'Black Widow' long before I came to work for the Evil Queen. It was a nickname for me when I was growing up, I had a 'talent' for trapping someone before striking. So when my heart started to darken and someone asked me who I was to do those horrible things, I used that name to become something else entirely to do them with".
He stiffly nodded at her before as his walls crumbled around him, throwing his head into the crook of her neck, sob's escaped his mouth clutching onto her body as if it was the only thing that was keeping him afloat.
"You're going to be okay" she repeated into his head as she held him close to her than ever before.
Once the tears had been shed, she left her son to sleep off the nights events, she let out the breath she had been holding in as her own sobs echoed through the empty castle hallways as she held onto her stomach like it was the only thing keeping her from completely unraveling, taking in cool deep breaths into her lungs pushing herself to calm down and built her resolve back up.
What happened tonight was her fault.
He was never supposed to take a life, not for her, not for anyone but to save himself. She couldn't tell him the rich merchant that still haunted her, they all did. They walked along side her every waking day and tormented her every night. It took her years to block them out enough for her to keep getting up in the morning.
She could only hope that the life that grew inside of her was her chance to change her story. To be the hero in his or her eyes, not the redemption seeking villain she had been for the last two years.
"Amelia" Emma's voice made the assassin jump as she looked up to see the blonde woman there still in her dress for the ball minus her crown of daisies in her hair/
"Damn it, Emma" she cursed seeing the blonde feeling her heart thump in her chest as the hairs on the back of her neck stood up on end being in the presence of the new Dark One "You'd think I'd gotten used to that with Rumple over the years" Amelia laughs of her fright with a hand on her chest as she tried to calm her heart down from the slight fright.
"You have other things to think about I guess" the savior told her friend.
"What are you talking about?" she asks the woman.
"I know about the baby" Emma saw the Assassin's face drop "I felt it….when I healed you" the red head was at a loss to say as she felt of nausea wash over her. No one was supposed to know, she made sure she was careful. She knew she couldn't' deny it in front of the woman knowing her 'superpower'.
"Have you told anyone?" she asked the blonde once she gained some composure back.
"No and I won't" Emma rushed forward to sit next to the Assassin taking one of her hand in hers,"I swear, you can trust me".
"No offence but your word at the moment means nothing".
"Ahh she's a smart one she is" the phantom suddenly said appeared behind the assassin making her eye's bug out, he was so close to the assassin he could wrap his arms around her.
"Lia..".
"I can't take my chances with you like this" the assassin said reaching for the handle in her robe. She didn't want to do this, she really didn't, but it put her and her child in danger.
"For what it's worth I am sorry" she whispered to her friend before pulling out the Dark One's dagger from it's place, holding out in front of her so that Emma could see in the dark her name inscribed on the steel.
"No, Amelia please" the blonde pleaded with her. She had the dagger all along.
"Dark One, so long as we are in Camelot, you will not be able to tell or speak to anyone about the child in my womb but myself, or I will kill you" she stiffly ordered the Dark One "Do you understand?".
"I do" Emma obediently agreed to the assassin's request.
Slipping the dagger back into her soiled robe the assassin met Emma's "Have a good night Emma" at that the assassins swiftly walked past her friend to find her room.
"Didn't see that coming did you?" Rumpelstiltskin's giggles echoed through the hallways as the blonde watched her friend walk away from her knowing her secret was still safe for the time being.
Guilt laid heavily on her mind as she found her way to her's and Regina's room for their stay in Camelot. Piece by piece the assassin undid the soiled robes knowing that a fresh set would be given to her in the morning. She just wanted to forget this evening as a whole for many reasons.
Making herself comfortable on her usual side of the four poster bed her eye's close she felt the bed shift next to her as she felt a Regina intertwine her finger in with hers in between the pillows, her eye's fluttered open to see her partner staring at her.
"Hi" she greeted the former Queen.
"How are you feeling?" her partner asked her from across her, looking for any imperfection that told her the redhead was still hurt.
"A little shaken if I'm being honest, I still don't remember most of it from when I knocked him to the floor".
"Trust me, it nothing I want you to remember" her partner tells her with sincerity.
"I really did like that dress though" she mused making her smile "You looked beautiful".
"Thank you" her queen tells her "Can I confess something?" Amelia nodded "I was nervous before; I nearly didn't even come to the stupid ball".
"Why's that?".
"I was..embarrassed, that I'd make a fool out of myself. I never danced at a ball before, throughout my marriage to Leopold, he always danced with his precious daughter leaving me to sit on the side lines".
"Well looks like he missed out then, you danced like you'd done it hundreds of times before".
"Only because David gave me a crash course" the information made the redhead chuckle at the image of the man teaching Regina how to dance.
"I'm just glad you actually decided to come in the end otherwise I would've had to dance with a damn dwarf".
All MJ heard in the hallway outside the door of the Queen and her assassin was the sound of laughter coming from the inside. Hiding in the shadow's, like her father had once taught her, the teenage girl that had sneaked into Granny's to accompany the hero's and villains to Camelot. She would have to wait another night to make her move against the redhead, for tonight's events would've put them all on high alert.
Be patient. She would get her revenge on the woman that had ruined her's and her mother's life. Even if it was the last thing she did.
Inside his throne room Arthur stood behind Percival's now vacant chair as held the wooden shield that held the knight's personal sigil that hung on the back of the chair. Silently the King placed the shield on the round table taking a seat where Percival once sat as his Queen entered the room.
"These strangers frighten me, Arthur" His Queen voiced her feelings of their visitors
"You know Merlin's prophecy as well as I do" he reminded her "They're meant to be here".
"Merlin tells us what happens, but he doesn't tell us how" she tells him taking a seat next to him seeing the knights sigil on the table "Percival... is dead. Who knows what other trouble they'll bring?".
"They're here to destroy the Dark One. That won't be easy. But helping them may be the only way I'll ever get my hands on that monster's dagger" he tells her unsheathing Excalibur from its place by his side to reveal that half the sword was missing setting it on top the small shield "Guinevere, if I don't make Excalibur whole again, we'll lose everything we worked so hard to build".
"Percival's actions have made the assassin's distrustful of us. if we have any chance of reuniting Juno with her vessel once more, we must have patience" he says further reaching into his tunic to take out the drawing that had been burned into his memory for years, placing it flat onto the table the image of the redheaded assassin that had arrived that day. He held this image of the being that Merlin feared the most for the last decade. The product of Star-Crossed Lover's.
"Juno will have her her vessel my Queen, and soon".
