"Well, this is it," Ricardo muses, tugging on his jacket once more. He'd just finished a round of dates in Texas. He's flying to LA one last time, to meet up with Alicia, Andre and Sofia, and then they'll be flying out to Egypt. He's nervous, he doesn't know what to expect. He's never looked forward to anything more.
He hopes it's the right choice, especially for Andre. When he arrives in California, Alicia greets him outside of the gate with a soft headbutt, since they're both masked and can't kiss, and he hums into her, sighing softly. "Glad to see you too, Foxy," he says with a soft grin before she lightly bumps into him again.
"I've missed you, and so has Andre," she says, fingers pressing against his once they've located Sofia and gotten in line to board the next flight, bogged up by luggage and trying to follow their instructions, as always. "So this is really it, huh?"
"Yeah, I'm really so sorry I couldn't give you the holidays," he says grimly. "I know we were planning on making it one last big thing... but the school wanted me there before flights got too obnoxious with holiday traveling, or before there was another lockdown. So here we are."
"Yeah, I get it, don't worry," she says, squeezing his hand comfortingly. "I'm just... I'm glad it's working out that we can all be together."
He smiles lovingly at her. "I don't know what I did to deserve you," he says softly, squeezing back. "You're incredible. Not many others would drop everything and bring a baby to an entirely different country, especially during a pandemic."
She hums, leaning over to rest her forehead against his while they wait, staring into his eyes. "You're worth it," she tells him, face stretching into a grin as he gapes at her, wide eyed and amazed.
"I love you," he tells her.
"I love you too," she hums, tapping her fingers against his.
It's a long afternoon of flying from one place just to immediately turn to the next flight, but having Alicia and Sofia there help pass the time and before he realizes it, he's boarded the flight to Egypt and immediately dozes off, his head resting on her shoulder.
She smiles down at him and checks once more on Andre, who is asleep as well, warm and cuddled up in Sofa's arms while they all wait for takeoff. It's going to be quite the adventure, Alicia thinks with a small grin, staring out of the window just visible past Ricardo's shoulder.
