"Is everyone ok?" Ricardo asks, staring at AJ with fear in his eyes, holding Andre close to his chest.
"Yeah," she sighs. "Heath got there in time, Lumis left. The girls are fine. It's just..." She exhales slowly. "God, if I hadn't called, what could've happened..."
"I can't believe this," Alicia mumbles, rubbing her hands over her stomach. "I feel like if I hadn't... called you, the babies would have at least one extra person to protect them, and-"
"This is not your fault," AJ tells her, leaning up on her knees and resting a hand over Alicia's, feeling the babies kick against their fingers. "I made my choice, and I was still able to take care of the girls even from over here. I don't want you to blame yourself. Alright? Everything's going to be ok. Mike and Tommaso will figure this out."
"I hope so," Alicia murmurs, staring up into AJ's eyes. "I owe you so much for this."
"Hey, I have no problems hanging out and helping to take care of my best friend, huh? Besides, I'm going to be honest," AJ says. "My being here meant my kids are here, instead of just hanging out in California, an easy target for Lumis' madness. I will never not appreciate that. Yes, I hate that Mike's alone in all of this, but... I know he appreciates that we're safe as well."
Alicia smiles at her, squeezes her hand. "I'm glad you're all safe as well," she says, deciding to let her own guilt go, at least for now, well aware that it's the last thing AJ needs weighing her down on top of everything else. "And I hope that Mike figures this out really soon, or Lumis finds a new obsession."
AJ nods, squeezing back. "Me too," she says quietly. "Me too."
Ricardo hums, kisses Andre on the forehead and slowly stands. "I'm gonna put this little guy down for his nap," he says. He walks towards the hall, then hesitates, turning to look at them. "You know, it might be a long shot, but if you want to get Lumis off of Mike's trail... has anyone tried to call Indi? No one like a wife to get someone to change the course they're on." He smiles at Alicia, winking at them, before taking his leave.
Alicia and AJ exchange glances, then nods. "As good an idea as any, I guess," Alicia says softly, reaching over for her phone. "Just gotta figure out how to get her phone number."
AJ smiles a little. "I have an idea or two on that front," she says, already dialing someone's number.
For the first time in weeks, there's real positivity and hope in her eyes.
