"Have I mentioned lately I'm proud of you?" Alicia wonders, resting her head on Ricardo's shoulder.
Ricardo blinks sluggishly, staring down at the top of her head. "Maybe. It's nice to hear it again, though," he teases and she giggles, leaning up to kiss him.
"Well, I am," she says. "Very, very proud of my handsome, healthy husband who worked to better himself for myself and our kids."
He runs his fingers through her hair, humming under his breath. "I wish I could've done it sooner," he admits. "But I'm thankful you were patient enough to wait until I sorted myself out."
"I will always wait for you," she promises him. "Besides, you and I aren't that different in our issues, you know. We both needed some wake up calls, and now that we've had them, I think we're going to be just fine."
"I hope so," he sighs. "For the kids' sake. For our own."
"Yeah," she says softly, staring down at him. "For all of our sake." She smooths her fingers down his face and smiles. "All I know for sure is when our children are old enough to understand, we'll tell them about what led us here and they'll be as proud of you as I am."
"And they'll be proud of you too," Ricardo says, stroking her back. "I have some updates to make to the calendar tomorrow, got some responses to booking interests."
"Ok. Anything I'd be interested in?" she wonders, brushing her hair out of her eyes and smiling up at him.
"Yeah, maybe." He kisses her nose. "We'll go over it tomorrow. Let's get some sleep first."
"Yes," she murmurs. "Let's." She settles back against his shoulder and he smiles at her before resting back against the pillows to rest as well.
