A\N: This is a free-stying Willicia story. This is a new short story, the title says it all but this is basically where Alicia is with Will and he proposes to her five times, then Alicia proposes to him, one or two of these stories will be AUs.
This is set four years after 5x5 but Alicia didn't leave Lockhart/Gardner and Will didn't die in 5x15.
Updates will be inconsistent as usual, anyway I hope you enjoy my first chapter, Angels.

Will Gardner has always loved Alicia Cavanaugh, he loved her the first he set eyes on her at Georgetown all those years ago.
She changed in the fifteen years they were apart: she was more mild, less argumentative and so unlike the Alicia he knew in college.
The Alicia he knew in college wouldn't stop arguing until she was told to stop by the professor, even not stopping then.
As more time Alicia spends around the law and in court, the more he sees the Alicia he knew at Georgetown coming back out and he loves it.
He's broken out of his thoughts of Alicia when he sees her walking past his office, wearing a red pantsuit. She stops outside his office to talk to a fifth year associate.
He can't believe that this woman is his. He remembers the night she told him she loved him and wanted to be with him.
He's still at the office, drinking coffee while working on a brief for court when a knock comes on his door, drawing him away from his laptop to the figure standing in the doorway.
It's Alicia holding a cup of coffee in her hand. She's wearing a red skirt with a black blouse, she's discarded her blazer and heels.
"You're here late." He comments, going back to his laptop. Things have been tense between the two of them since he found out she was considering leaving the firm but changed her mind at the last minute, after something changed her mind.
"Yeah well, I'm a lawyer. I'm on a big case." She says, bringing the coffee cup to her lips. Will shuts his laptop and stares at her, even though they've not spoken much, he's noticed she's been distracted . "What's going on, Alicia?" He asks, he's worried about her, as is Diane. At first they thought it was the stress of deciding to move from Lockhart/Gardner, then choosing to stay but as time went on, the two name partners knew it was something else that's bothering Alicia. Alicia enters his office, closing the door behind her. She sighs heavily, looking right at him.
"I asked Peter for a divorce." She tells him quickly, Will is out of his chair and hugs her for the first time in months. Alicia places her coffee cup on the end table and hugs him back.
"God, I'm so sorry, Leesh." Will whispers. He can't remember the last time he called her Leesh until today. Alicia pulls away from him a little bit. "Don't be, it's long overdue. I realised that I can't be married to him anymore." She says, looking into his eyes. She gives him a small smile.
"I can't be married to a man I don't love anymore, Will, it's not fair to either of us, I know I should have divorced him five years ago, but I couldn't do it to Grace or Zach, or even to myself when it happened." Will sighs in understanding. He knew why she couldn't divorce Peter when he was first arrested: it would have put them all back in the headlines and that's the last thing Alicia needed or wanted at that time in her life.
"Will, I need to say something but I need you not to interrupt me until after I've finished." She requests, stepping out of his hug. He knows her tone and knows he can only oblige with or risk being sued by his former best friend.
He walks over to his sofa and sits down, gesturing for her to sit as well. They're both silent until Alicia exhales and starts speaking softly.
"I love you, Will. I always have, since Georgetown but then I met Peter and got pregnant with Zach, then he proposed and I had to say yes, even though it was clear I didn't love him yet. I fell in love with him over time, but I never fell out of love with you, not once. After I found out that he cheated on me with a hooker, I only wanted one thing: you. I only wanted you to comfort me, to hold me, to tell me what to do, to tell me that everything would be okay in time, to hear your voice again. I just wanted you, Will." Alicia says as tears start to fill her eyes. Will can't help but look away from her face: he hates to see her cry. "So why didn't you call me, Leesh? You know I would've picked up, day or night." He asks. Alicia looks at him, tears falling from her eyes.
"I couldn't, Will, my husband had just been arrested, my kids were torn up, and it took everything I had to get out of bed and keep going everyday , and if I called you, I would've cracked and I couldn't afford to crack, not then, Will. You're the only one who can make me crack." Alicia says, Will smiles at her: he's always known how to make her crack. Will puts a hand on her knee. "If I had heard your voice, I would've said the one thing I've been keeping for 20 years." Alicia says, the tears flowing down her face in rivers. Will gets off the sofa and kneels in front of her, his hand still on her knee.
"Tell me what, Leesh?" He asks softly, wiping the tears from her face. Alicia looks at him.
"I love you, Will Gardner." Alicia whispers. "I want to be with you, and only you forever."
Will doesn't have time to respond before she's kissing with all the passion of finally divulging a 20 year secret.
That was four years ago to the very night, and every kiss and every word shared between them seems like they're being spoken that night in his office almost four years ago.
He grabs his phone and messages her even though she's outside his door.
Leesh: Date night, me, you, bottle of wine, pick you up at 8. Xx
He watches as she turns her head to look at him through his door.
"Yes." She mouths before sashaying away.
He drops his phone on his desk with a smile before he opens his desk drawer where the box has been sitting for the last 10 years.

Will feels his breath catch in his throat when he sees Alicia walking towards his office dressed in a short red dress, strappy nude stilettos with her hair curled.
"Woah." He breathes as she enters his office with a smile. He stands up from the couch, two flutes of champagne in each hand. He walks towards her, handing her a glass of champagne with a kiss to her lips.
"Okay, not to say no to date night with you, but why the spontaneous date night?" She asks him. He smirks.
"You don't remember, do you?" He asks with a smirk, she shakes her head. He rolls his eyes.
"Four years ago, in this very office, you said you were divorcing Peter and that you had loved me for 20 years before kissing me." He refreshes her memory. Alicia swallows her flute of champagne before wrapping her arms around his neck, kissing him deeply.
"Now I remember." Alicia says against his lips, pulling away. Will smiles, catching the eyes of Diane, Cary, Julius and David as he walks to his desk drawer. "I've wanted to do this for the last 24 years," he begins. He picks up the box and returns to where Alicia has made herself comfortable on the sofa. He takes a deep breath and gets down on one knee in front of her.
"Alicia Cavanaugh, I have loved you for the last 24 years, that's over half of my life. Four years ago, You told me that you wanted me and only me forever, now I'm saying the same thing: Alicia, I want to be with you and only you, forever. So will you marry me and be with me forever?" Will asks her emotionally, tears filling his eyes.
Alicia nods her head. "Yes, Will, yes." She answers as tears fall down her face. Will smiles as he opens the ring box and slips the ring onto Alicia's outstretched finger. Alicia cups his face and kisses him deeply. He straightens up and brings his fiancé up with him, swinging her around. Alicia squeals as the cheers outside his office reach the two of them.
Will sets Alicia down on her feet and grabs her hand. "Come on, we've got a date to get to." He says, Alicia laughs as she leads them out of his office, the cheers reach them.
Alone in the elevator, Alicia kisses him again. "Thank you for waiting 24 years for me, Will." Alicia says, pulling away from him, Will stares at his fiancé.
"I would've waited forever for you, Leesh." Will replies, gripping her hand tightly. Now that he's got her after 20 years, he's not letting her go.
