Chapter one : From the darkness
Running consumed her, a relentless force coursing through her veins like an urgent call driving her forward with a primal intensity. EAch stride was etched into her muscle memory, propelling her forwark with instinctual precision. Her mind whirled in a dizzying frenzy, each crack of a branch or scrape of a rock sending shockwaves through her senses pushing deeper into the abyss of her frantic escape. With each stumble, she plummeted further into the abyss she was spiralling through, the darkness enveloping her like a suffocating cloak, its lingering shadows tugging at her with each hurried step.
Her heart throbbed erratically, a discordant rhythm matching the chaos of her flight as she plunged deeper into the heart of the never ending forest. Surrounding her were shadows stretching long and deep, casting ominous aura that seemed to grow desner with every passing moment. An eerie unease settled over her, creeping in like a chilled mist as she pressed on, her determination unwavering despite her growing sense of dread.
She had to escape.
She had to run.
Run.
Run.
Run.
Time blurred until a haze of forgotten moments, days melding into months, then years, until they stretched into an eternity of ceaseless flight. Yet amid the endless pursuit Bella found herself unable to recall the reason for her desperate escape, the face of her unseen tracker eluding her.
Only sheer terror, an unrelenting force that had followed for centuries.
They were dangerous and wanted her.
Even if her memory was broken, that's all that mattered. She ran across continents like her life depended on it.
Fragmented images flashed through her mind, each on a shard of dread that sent shivers racing down her spine. A single voice, a familiar scent, made her hot blood run cold. Though hazt, these memories lingered like snow atop a mountain peak. They twisted and distorted, causing Bella's leg to slip on the decaying wood beneath her, sending her crashing to the ground with a thud.
Panting heavily, she scanned into the darkness, her brown eyes flicking frantically in every direction, alert to any movement. The insects chirped, the birds cawed, and the rustle of winds overhead only added to the cacophony assaulting her senses. A pounding headache throbbed in her temples as she took a few deep breaths, steeling herself.
With a burst of fear, she propelled herself through the trees, moving fast then any human eye could ever follow. Their feeble vision was no match for her supernatural speed, a gift she hadn't struggled with for as long as she could remember. Every sense heightened, she dodges the encroaching shadows that clawed at her skin, her body swaying on unsteady feet.
Tears well in her eyes as a chilling coolness enveloped her neck, but she refused to let terror consume her. They would not capture her, not this time.
She could make it.
She had to..
And so Bella bloated, hurling herself across the wide riverbank with a grace that boarded on flight, landing with a grunt on the opposite side. Dirt stained her torn clothes as she picked herself up, the shadows pausing momentarily, as if uncertain of their next move.
But Bella knew better,
Without hesitation, she ran until her legs gave out, collapsing in the meadow with her fingers digging into the damp soil, releasing a guttural scream as her thoughts churned like a violent tempest. Unable to tell what was real and what was insanity bringing her to the brink.
The rain poured relentlessly, drenching her to the bone as she remained hidden amidst the downpour. Hours slipped by, yet still, they did not pursue her.
The sound of footsteps sliced through the air, catching her attention like a sudden clap of thunder.
A weak growl reverberated in her chest.
They echoed through the forest, a frantic rhythm. Someone was running towards her, their pace mirroring her own, yet gaining speed with each stride. The approaching figure drew nearer, then she heard it- a gasp. Foreign but filled with unmistakable emotion.
"Carlisle!" The cry pierced the air like the chiming of bells, echoing through the forest with deep desperation.
Bella's vision blurred, obscured by the strands of slick hair clinging to her face like tendrils of a shadow. Through the haze, she glimpsed a figure drawing closer. Shorter than her, much shooter, with eyes of mesmerising golden hue that seemed to pierce through the mist, locking onto hers with an intensity that rocked her core.
Reality slipped through Bella's grasps, slipping away gradually, until finally she succumbed to the darkness, her consciousness fading to oblivion.
"I've found her… Please hurry," she whimpered, her voice trembling.
