First Contact With the Angels

Timeline

It's me, Antros. I'm Back! I got a new account and a slightly better setup to remake My first story, First Contact with an Angel.

For those new, this story is set in a Warhammer 30k Alternate Universe where the Horus Heresy was vastly different, and Horus never betrayed the Imperium and stayed loyal to his dying breath. Here is a Prologue of events as they have happened differently in significant ways to the original story or will otherwise be necessary in this one! Updates will hopefully be quick to come out, but for now, it will be a bit touch and go until I get back into the swing of writing again.

The remaining loyal Primarchs are Vulkan, Roburte Guilliman, Rogal Dorn, Fulgrim, Ferrus Manus, Leman Russ, Magnus the Red, Sanguinius, Lion El'jonson, Perturabo, Jaghatai Khan, Corvus Corax, Omegon, and Alpharius. Konrad is perhaps alive, but that is yet to be seen. It seems he has remained loyal to the Emperor. The Sons of Horus (still loyal to the Imperium and have become far closer with the Blood Angels and the Emperor).

The only legions from the fallen Primarchs left are The World Eaters (who are Khorne Worshippers, of course), and the Death Guard (Nurgle's followers, although many did remain loyal to the Imperium of Man), a few Word Bearers.

As well the Blood Angels, The Emperor revealed having knowledge of the Red Thirst and informed them and Sanguinius how they might control it without losing themselves. And, because Sanguinius never died, the Black Rage isn't an issue for them either.

The only Races that will be part of the Citadel (whether as associates or live in the same space) are the primary ones in ME, I will not be including races like the Virtual Aliens and those discovered in the ME games, just for simplicity.

These are the Races that will NOT be a part of the Citadel: the Vorcha and Rachni. The Reapers may exist, but they will not be an actual threat like in my other story, Angel's Lament, and they will be the ones from the game. My purpose is to limit the amount of research and creating I must do and the amount of story I must dedicate to the other races. I'm doing this for fun, not to create more work.

For my version of events as well, the Three Councilors will be the same ones from the games: Asari = Tevos, Salarians = Valern, and Turians = Sparatus.

Thanks, and now enjoy!

Prologue

Early 31st Millennium - While bringing the Interex to heel, the Warmaster Horus Lupercal would be mortally wounded by the dreaded Anathame. Wracked with an unceasing and incurable pain before he died, Horus's sons Abbadon and Aximand brought their Father to the Temple of the Serpent Lodge out of desperation to save their leader. Once left within, Traitor Chaplain Erebus showed Horus visions of the horrible future should his Father's vision be achieved. A future where his Father would be worshiped as a god while the Imperium itself toiled endlessly in a million wars. As uncounted souls lived in squalor, suffering at the hands of his Father's Adeptus Terra just as he had feared. As doubt waxed and his faith in his Father wavered, The Dark Apostle offered Horus the chance of life, the promise of endless glory, and a chance to halt this fate. All he needed to do was renounce his Father and open his mind to the Truth.

Far off on Prospero, Magnus was alerted to his brother's suffering, enacted a ritual (violating the Nikea Edict) to psychically reach out to his brother, and was made aware of the consequences should his brother fall to Erebus's patrons. Magnus' spirit arrived and countered Erebus' baleful prophecies, pleading with Horus to remember their Father and all their dreams for the future. The Dark Apostle would again attempt to manipulate him as he fought the projection of Magnus, but in the end, Horus made his own decision. Horus chose not to give in to his pride or his fears; instead, he decided to put his faith in his brother Magnus and their Father together so that they might blaze a different future.

With that, Horus rejected the silvery promises of the dark gods and their prophet, allowing himself to die. But not before sending a transmission saying his farewells and who he chose to succeed him as Warmaster. Erebus fled the temple and successfully returned to the Fidelitas Lex, where he would report his failure to Lorgar.

Early 31st Millennium - Two Terran months after the death of Horus. Lorgar pressed for time before Magnus revealed to their Father that his corruption would launch several rushed schemes designed to trick as many of their brothers into falling into the darkness as he had. While successfully turning Mortarion and Angron from their Father, Fulgrim was saved by the intervention of the 3rd Legion Master Apothecary Fabius Bile. Helping turn the Primarch from the ensnarement of the Laer Blade and saving his soul in the process. This failed operation and Magnus's arrival to Terra via the warp would ultimately lead to Lorgar being outed as a traitor alongside his worship of the Dark Gods.

Early 31st Millennium - Three Terran months after the death of Horus. Magnus the Red was pardoned for using Sorcery and the dark arts by official decree from the Emperor and the Senatorum Imperialis. That same month, the Nikea Edict was reversed with the help of the Primarch Lion El'jonson, Jaghatai Khan, and Corvus Corax. That same month, to secure Perturabo's loyalty, the Emperor, with the Primarch Sanguinius's assistance, decided to name Perturabo the Lord Architect of the Imperium. He would work with the newly named Lord of Logistics Roboute Guilliman. Because of this, the two would develop a deep-rooted respect for one another over the years. Around the same time, Magnus the Red, to also secure his loyalty, would be named Lord of the Webway, where he would work to complete the Webway Project with his Father.

Early 31st Millennium - Four Terran months after the Death of Horus. What is now called the 'Awakening' occurs. The Primarchs and the higher echelons of the Imperial Military are made aware of the Dark Gods, the existence of daemons, and the supernatural forces of the Immaterium.

Early 31st Millennium - Six Terran months since the death of Horus. The first battles of what has been dubbed Lorgar's Rebellion. The primary fight between the Blood Angels, Custodians, Imperial Fist, and Space Wolves versus the Word Bearers, Death Guard traitor elements, and the World Eaters. The Battle ended with the death of Erebus to the Primarch Rogal Dorn, and Angron was severely injured by Sanguinius in a duel between the two; after the death of the Chaplain, the forces of Chaos would retreat into the unknown regions of the Halo Stars.

Early 31st Millennium - Eight Terran Months after the death of Horus. The Fabricator General of Mars Kelbor-Hal sides with Lorgar in the Rebellion, taking the chance to betray the Emperor. This was eventually called the Hal Schism, in which only a tiny part of the Mechanicum sided with Kelbor-Hal. The rest mostly rallied around Zagreus Kane's and Koriel Zeth, who would join their forces to fight the traitors of the self-titled True Mechanicum. Hal was ultimately slain by the Primarch Leman Russ, the Emperor's Executioner, who came to the aid of Koriel and Kane at the Emperor's order. Hal's followers fled after this and departed to the Eye Of Terror, not to be seen until later in the Rebellion.

Early 31st Millennium - One Terran year after the death of Horus. Sanguinius is named Lord Commander upon his request to not take the mantle of Warmaster. Aside from small recruiting parties, no forces of Chaos were found; all that was found were killed, most being raving lunatics. To combat the attempted recruitment of Imperial Citizens, the Emperor, with the assistance of his friend Malcador the Sigillite, founded an organization to fight the servants of The Dark Gods and the predations of the Xeno; this force would be dubbed The Inquisition. Also around this time, Koriel Zeth would be named the next Fabricator General, with the help of an endorsement from the Emperor and the help offered by her friend Zagreus Zane. After this, Zeth and a Terran girl named Dalia Cythera embark on a quest to find the Noctis Labyrinth.

Early 31st Millennium - 2 Terran years after the death of Horus. Angron's corpse was found in the world of Alena. After an autopsy was conducted, the cause of death was attributed to the Butcher's Nails, ultimately ending the Red Angel's life. That same year, the newly founded Inquisition found trace evidence of a Xenos cult trying to recruit Imperial Citizens with the promise of money and other bribes. Upon hearing this, the Emperor sends forth his best sons to hunt down the Xenos cult from the shadows they spawned from, The Primarchs of the Alpha legion. Koriel Zeth and Dalia found the Labyrinth, where they were met by The Guardian of the Dragon, Semyon, who would Ultimately name Dalia and a Skitarii in their company as the new Guardians of the Dragon. Koriel would return to the surface and only tell very few of these events; she would then take up the responsibility as Fabricator General and bury any news of the Labyrinth. She would then begin to make radical reforms within the Mechanicus.

Early 31st Millennium - 3 Terran years after the death of Horus. Traitor forces were reportedly amassing on the Segmentum Obscurus's outskirts near the Halo Stars. The traitors cut a bloody swath in the Segmentum, only to be stopped by the combined efforts of the Ultramarines, Dark Angels, Salamanders, and White Scars. The traitors were discovered to be attempting to amass enough death to transform Lorgar into a Daemon Primarch, ultimately failing the attempt and losing his other brother, Mortarion, to their brother, Jaghatai Khan. This would later be called the "Last Gambit" by loyalist forces. Many take note that the World Eaters were absent for the assault. Lorgar's remaining forces retreat back to the Halo Stars and disappear not long after entering the space area.

Early 31st Millennium - 4 Terran years after the death of Horus. No traitor forces had been seen since the "Last Gambit," the Imperium began to move on somewhat, but never the Primarchs, always lurking and looking for the remaining Traitor forces. New Edicts begin being placed into effect. The most popular and widely received is the New Hope Edict or the "Edict of Reconstruction," as it is dubbed by the general populous. The edict entailed rebuilding war-torn worlds and the "Taming" of Death Worlds, reconfiguring Death Worlds, or relocating Death World inhabitants. The first world affected by this change was the world of Baal, home of the Lord Commander. The Edict was ultimately put under the Jurisdiction of the two Primarchs, Rogal Dorn and Perturabo, to help the two get along. The two would ultimately work together and also were able to put aside their animosity towards each other. This would ultimately culminate in the two rebuilding the Imperial Palace together. Thanks to the brother's combined efforts, the new Palace would be completed only after 2 years. The two would develop something of a bond through this endeavor, thus at least putting a pause upon their feud.

Early 31st Millennium - 5 Terran years after the death of Horus. The Traitors struck where the Imperium expected it least. Traitor forces stormed the Uhulis Sector, primarily ravaging the world of Krieg. 2 months after the initial siege, the world is saved by imperial reinforcements in the way of the Blood Angels and Iron Warriors. The bulk of the World Eaters were defeated and killed in the tens of thousands after refusing to back down and run even in the face of sheer defeat. The last dregs of their now shattered legion would only falter and take to the wind after the Death of Kharn the Destroyer to the Primarch Perturabo.

Early 31st Millennium - 6 Terran years after the death of Horus. The World Eaters, led by Crull, would strike again, attempting to dishearten the Lord Commander by Attacking His homeworld of Baal. The defenders would manage to throw the heavily depleted legion off the world. Succeeding in keeping the vast majority of the World Eaters trapped in the void for the duration of the 2 week-long siege. Once the traitors attempted to break from the planet, the Blood Angels chased them away with a vengeance. Raldron, the Legion Master, killed Master Crull and the Ship Mistress Lotara Sarrinon aboard the bridge of the World Eater's flagship, Conqueror. The ship would ultimately crash into the dark side of Baal, where the wreck would be later destroyed by the Mechanicus, never to be used again because of its Chaotic Taint. After this crushing defeat, the bulk of Traitor Forces would retreat to the Eye of Terror. Not to be seen again until the culmination of Lorgar's Rebellion. They were chased to their last bastion by the 1st Legion, who would take the responsibility of holding the systems around the Eye.

Early 31st Millennium - 10 years after the death of Horus. The Mechanicum, under Koriel Zeth's leadership, would begin looking into the sciences of numerous Xenos artifacts recovered during the long years of the Great Crusade, While the more Puritan Tech-Priests who were known for their anit-xenos technology sentiments would strangely begin being silenced or outright disappearing amidst this unusually innovative growth spurt for the long dogmatic subcults of the Martian Priesthood. Koriel can eventually work and develop a scientific development branch within the Mechanicus dedicated to discovering long-lost sciences and new innovations.

Early 31st Millennium - 14 Terran years after the death of Horus. The Imperium mainly had moved on only the Primarchs, and a few Generals watched to see the Traitors rear their ugly heads and were prepared; most people simply thought the Traitors had died in the void or ran away from the sheer odds stacked against them. Sadly, they were wrong. The ultimate play was yet to be called. The Traitors secretly corrupting the Night Lord's Legion to Chaos waited for their moment to turn on the Imperium. Konrad Curze and the remaining loyalist elements would disappear in the opening days of the betrayal, most people believing he was assassinated by his own sons or their wretched patrons. The Chaos forces put all their might into this final attack, killing billions of innocents in the ensuing battles raging across the Obscurus Segmentum. It was at this moment that Lorgar Ascended. He would become the first Daemon Primarch and be crowned the Champion of the Dark Gods. The loyalists that would arrive first were the Space Wolves, Dark Angels, Thousand Sons, and the Raven Guard. In the aftermath of Lorgar's and his High Priest's Ascension, the war would quickly become a stalemate for a time. Neither side was able to get a decisive strike on the other.

The tide would turn when the Emperor, Sanguinius, Perturabo, and Rogal Dorn's forces arrived, landing a mighty blow to the Traitors. The Emperor permanently slay several of Lorgar's High Priests, eventually Dueling the Primarch himself. Lorgar nearly met his end with the Emperor's blade but was saved by the last of his High Priests, Kor Phaeron. The Dark Apostle would take the blow for the Champion of Chaos. After the death of the last Priest, Lorgar ran with the remaining traitor forces he had left and ran to the Eye once more.

Early 31st Millennium - 17 Terran years after the death of Horus. The last of the Xenos cult, calling itself the Kabal, was hunted down secretly by the Emperor's two sons, Omegon and Alpharius. In the same year, the Golden Throne was completed by the Emperor and Magnus the Red. Imperial forces' ability to utilize the Webway made it far more challenging for the forces of Chaos to summon their daemonic allies. Through the completion of the Golden Throne, the Webway of Mankind is finished ahead of schedule thanks to the assistance of Magnus the Red, and its modes of transport begin to be made for mass production, primarily being sent to the Legions first, then to the Imperial Army.

Early 31st Millennium - 18 Terran years after the death of Horus. The "Last Offensive" occured. Then the Traitors attempted one last sally forth from their hideouts to try and kill the Emperor and his Lord Commander in a last-ditch effort to stop them, both attempts ending in utter failure. The Traitors were still too broken in number and strength; they were swiftly crushed without reliable aid from their Daemon allies. Lorgar himself was Banished back to the warp by Sanguinius and his son Azkaellion.

I hope to see you again when chapter one is released. Thanks!
