Weiss wakes up to the pressure of someone standing on the end of her bend.

Growing up in the Schnee manor, Weiss is not accustomed to sharing her space with others at all. She has a tendency to wake very easily when it came to any sounds or lights or any kind of diversions, so she usually sleeps wearing a a mask over her eyes and something to block out noise over her ears.

But neither of those precautions can block out the feeling of someone on her bed. In a split second, she rips off her mask and noise canceling headphones, ready to give whoever it is an earful. Seriously, Ruby rarely gets up in the middle of the night and when she does, she's very careful to not disturb Weiss (since her partner knows how cranky Weiss is if you disturb her beauty rest).

So who's messing around like that in the middle of the night?

Just before Weiss is about to sit up, the pressure on the end of her bed vanishes. She frowns in confusion, before freezing in place when she hears a voice from the bunk above hers. It's not Ruby's voice.

"Ruby, Ruby wake up!" It's Yang. But why is she trying to wake Ruby up in the middle of the night? "Hey, Rubes, it's just a nightmare. You're okay."

Oh.

Above her, there's a gasp from Ruby, and then the younger girl sniffles quietly. If Weiss strains to listen, she can hear someone crying quietly. "It's okay Ruby, it wasn't real. You're okay."

"I know, it's just," Ruby trails off, clearing her throat. "How'd you know I was having a nightmare, anyway?"

"Big sister spidey sense," Yang replies immediately. "It tells me when something's bothering my lil sis so I can help her."

"If you say so." Ruby gives a watery chuckle. "I still don't think that's a real thing."

"Oh ye of little faith," Yang says, sounding surprisingly cheerful for someone who is definitely not a morning person. "You ready to go back to sleep?"

"Yeah," Ruby says reluctantly, hesitating for a moment before continuing. "Can you, uh, or do you mind, uh-"

"Of course I don't mind staying. Now, get some rest, Ruby."

The two sisters drift off peacefully in the bunk overhead, but below them, Weiss is left wide awake. Every time she thinks she's got her teammates all figured out, they do something to throw her for a loop.

It seems she still has a lot to learn.
