Summary: Good or bad, it didn't matter. There would always be those who looked upon her as if she was a blight, a curse. It was a fate she never asked for, but that didn't matter. She was far from cold-hearted. She felt far too much for her own good, yet she was unapproachable to most. The jewel's to blame. Its overbearing presence was the one thing that enabled her to keep the facade up.
Pairing: Harry Hook/Kagome
Disclaimer: I do not own either series. Each belongs to their rightful owners.

Will follow more of the Descendants books!
Prologue
For as long as she could recall, others seemed to walk on broken glass around her. She couldn't exactly recall what she'd done in order to make it that way, because, in reality, she hadn't done anything at all. Yet, people regarded her as a sleeping dragon they were too scared to wake.
She'd been a cute child with a round face and bright blue eyes, complete with a pretty smile and bell-like voice that befitted a princess, yet…- She was regarded as if she were a beast in disguise. As she got older, it only got more noticeable. People would divert from the path they were on if it was at risk of coming a bit too close to her for their comfort. They'd avoid her stare as if catching her eyes could catch some sort of hellfire-wrought ire.
When she turned fifteen, it all turned to a boiling point. As suddenly as the changing of the tides, it all made so much sense. It'd never been her that set them all on edge, but the looming presence of a cursed jewel that had been lying dormant in her soul for the past fifteen years. When it awoke, it only led to more trouble than the folks of Auradon were prepared to deal with.
Even when it fell back into a semi-controlled state, when they realized they couldn't pull it away from her- lest it causes more chaos-they came up with another plan altogether.
They did to her what they did to all the others they deemed as dangerous, everyone who they deemed to be a villain.
They sent her to the Isle of the Lost, locking her within the barrier that covered the island in hopes that it'd seal the magic within the jewel. At the same time, they washed their hands clean of her and the blight she marked upon their perfect and pristine society. As cruel as it was, what cause did they have to care?
They didn't.
Sapphire eyes remained steadfast and focused as she made her way along the familiar territory. There was an unbridled chill that lurked within the jewel-like depths. No words were exchanged, yet all those who opposed her were mindful of stepping to the side as she walked, a confident sway to every step she took forward.
Ever the observant one, Kagome was well aware of the figure that followed her, though she didn't let it show. She rounded a corner and came to a halt. At the same time, as did the figure tailing her. Without even turning around, she called out to him.
"You better have a good reason for following me, Hook." After those words left her mouth, she finally turned. Her hip jutted to the side as she glowered up at the pirate. Her eyes met a shade a bit lighter than her own. She was swift to note he'd gone without his hat, dark brown hair messily swept from his eyes. She was keen to spot the metal hook that he carried with him in one of his hands.
"Ever the wise one, aren't you?" he responded. He offered no answer to her prior statement, but she wasn't necessarily surprised. It was a usual cat-and-mouse game by now. He picked up on her lack of amusement, sauntering forward a few more steps until the space between them became borderline negligible. The sound of his boots colliding heavily with the ground below rang out between them until he abruptly came to a stop before her. He reached towards her with the hand that held the hook, rubbing the curved side just along her cheekbone. "I can't help but be curious as to why such a delicate princess such as yourself is out on your lonesome." The comment made her eyes narrow, something he caught instantly, a crooked grin painting his face.
"Who do you think you're calling delicate?" Kagome spat back at him just as swiftly. "Can't a girl go for a stroll, Hook?"
"Well, I suppose you can," he conceded. "You're an awful far way off from your turf, though."
"What are you on about? I go wherever I please," she stated. Her haughty attitude was reminiscent of the silver-haired demon who reared her. Her words were far from a lie, especially since there wasn't anyone who attempted to keep her from doing so. "Who's gonna stop me?" she remarked. "You? Please," she scoffed.
"You look to be in quite the foul mood, hm?" Harry replied. It didn't faze her, and she met him with a glare in a challenge. "I suppose it's not all that different from usual."
"And you look quite flammable right now," she bit back. "What's your point?" Kagome's eyes narrowed on his face. She lacked even an ounce of hesitation as she reached for his wrist and promptly shoved him back. "Quit pushing your luck, Hook," she bit out with a sneer. "Unless you're really looking to replace that hand with that hook you have there." As if to enforce her threat, her grip tightened around his wrist, nimble fingers clenching to the point a dull ache started in his wrist.
Harry retracted both hands from her, holding them up in mock surrender as an unbothered laugh fell from his lips. "Now, now, don't go making threats you don't intend to rise up to." Her expression was one of ire, and a crooked grin broke out across his face as he sauntered forward a step. He loomed closer, not heeding her prior warning. Either that, or he just truly didn't care about any threat she made.
"Shut up," she growled out through clenched teeth. At her sides, her hands had tightened into fists. Her blue eyes sparked a brighter shade under the mid-noon light. "Unless, of course, you want me to make you shut up, that is?" Kagome added, a faint lilt to her voice. Truly, she wasn't bothered by the thought of force, should it come down to it. Especially for the likes of him and especially right now.
"Now, now," Harry held a hand up once more in mock surrender. "There ain't a need for you to take your anger out on everyone else," he remarked. Still, she remained unfazed.
"What do you want?" she asked, a trace of a demand lingering in her words.
Harry hummed. "What makes you think I want anything from you?"
Kagome folded her arms across her chest, swapping her weight on her feet. She arched her brow as if to ask 'What are you waiting for?' "Spit it out already."
"Do I truly need a reason to bother you?" he remarked. "Count this as just a bit of fun."
She looked at him, entirely unamused. Frankly, she'd rather him do what the majority of the Isle did and avoid her, if this was what she got.
"But, if you're so curious," Harry continued, glancing at her face for any hint of a change in her expression. There wasn't one. "Doesn't it get boring on your own?" he asked. Surely, somewhere in those words was something meant to be offensive, but she did care enough to clue into it. "Surely, you could stand to be in the market for some acquaintances, don't you think?"
Kagome's expression remained the same, betraying none of the emotions she felt deep inside. "I don't need anyone," she spat back just as quickly. "I'm more than capable of taking care of myself." The ire she spoke with was like pure venom, burning and scathing out of pure rage. "You'll do well to recognize that not everyone can stand to live a life of codependency on others."
Those were the last words that came from her before she turned on her heel. While dangerous, reaching out to grab her was certainly an entertaining thought that passed through his mind as Harry watched her walk off. He caught him mid-reach, and he heard her scoff.
"Wise choice."
Auroua-chan: I'm gonna stop this here.
Kagome isn't as cold as she seems, but it's definitely a facade she's learned to keep up. After all, the Isle is far from a great place. It's best to hide what you can.
As the note above stated, this will follow more of the books, opposed to the movies, just to let you know!
