Luma stared up at the starry night sky. She wasn't interested in astronomy all that much, but she wondered where the stars came from, how many possibilities there were up there! Maybe on another planet, she was a queen! No one or nothing to defy her. No trainer trying to catch her.

Maybe on a different planet, she was an inventor. Making different machines and devices to help others like her.

Maybe on another planet, she was alone. No one ever to talk to, or vent to. A sense of loneliness… forever.

Maybe on a different planet, she gained the fire typing! Burning down stuff and being an arsonist would be a fun pass time!

But for now, she sat underneath this dark, night sky, up on the roof of her wooden house, where she waited for someone, anyone, to come visit her. But no one ever came. The light blue Ralts sighed, and went to bed

-

The whole talk about different planets got Luma thinking: Where did all those planets and stars come from? Luma could only think of one answer, the young and naive one she was, and that answer was: Arceus got bored. Though that thought gave her another: Where did she come from?

She tried digging through her earliest memories, but the memory she could come up with was helping the robotic evolution of her at a facility she once called home. Not a single relative or friend in her memories. No… she wanted to learn more. Who were her parents? Did they abandon her? Did she have any friends before she had the life she has now?

That and many more questions came whizzing by her head like strong winds on an autumn evening. It gave her a slight headache, but she didn't care enough right now to treat it. Luma decided that she would try to get in touch with her old trainer, which she had to admit had advice and knowledge she dreamed she could have. He always seemed to know more than he should.

Luma couldn't find her previous trainer anywhere. She hoped he didn't move far away so she couldn't find him, but that's what it was looking like as she went on months without finding him.

Luma even went to the local library and searched up his name on the computer. Unfortunately, he was nowhere to be found on the internet. It was like every trace of him was erased off of the face of the earth.

Luckily though, on the computer, she encountered an Umbreon she remembered from the old facility. She got in touch with him and asked if he knew anything about her backstory. He says he doesn't remember much, it was all foggy, but she was brought in with a Kirlia, in handcuffs specifically designed for her species. He also said he saw Luma tied down to a machine, and in a flash of light, she was never the same. The Umbreon apologized as that's all he remembered.

Luma wanted to know who this Kirlia was. Maybe they were the secret to her back story.

-

Luma was back at the old facility she used to call home. From the looks of it, it was abandoned. She stepped inside to see the place being eaten away by Tera Crystals. Not unusual for a place that experimented with the crystals often. She was glad to see the elevator still worked, and started going up. When she arrived on the floor she wanted to, it was a mess. Papers and Tera Crystals were everywhere, several computers engulfed within the blue mess.

Luma searched around the room, and luckily, she found a computer that still functioned. She booted it up and went to the local files. She immediately searched up the name the facility here gave her. "1UM4-M47X." 1 folder popped up out of the many on the local server. Clicking through the different files in the folder, she finally found descriptions.

"1UM4-M47X
Ralts Species
Shiny
September 14, 2015

1UM4-M47X, or Luma as it would like to be called, is a Ralts species with the special gene of which people call 'Shiny.' 1UM4 has been working around the facility [1] to…"

Luma ignored the rest of the paragraph to click on the link attached to the [1]. It brought Luma to a separate file. A diary of some sorts.

-

"DAY 1"

"I've been tasked to observe 1UM4 and 7ER4. 1UM4 is a blue Ralts, and 7ER4 being a normal Kirlia. They're both twins, but due to the color difference and the difference in evolution, it's quite easy to tell the two apart."

1UM4 is quite a curious one. It often wonders what all my equipment is. Unfortunately I cannot answer, as I have been tasked to not interact with them at all. 7ER4 on the other hand, is quite lazy. I always find her asleep in a random place. Earlier, I found her sleeping in the parking lot.

As they are orphans, they tend to look up to anyone. They're parents passed away resisting what this place likes to call "rehabilitation." If I had to say anything, I would say this is prison.

Anyways, I should probably go. Boss wants these to be short."

-

"DAY 2"

"I broke a rule. 1UM4 keeps using telepathy to talk to me. I basically have no choice but to answer. I bet my boss won't care though.

7ER4 has found a nice cushion to call her sleeping place, so no more sleeping in random places for her.

1UM4 actually told me a lot about her and her sister. For example, they're both girls, and they used to live in Tagtree Thicket in Paldea. Odd place for a Ralts but whatever.

I look forward to observing these 2 further. They're plenty interesting."

-

"DAY 4"

"1UM4, or Luma as she likes to be called, has been around 7ER4, or Tera, way more than normal for the past 2 days. She won't tell me why, but I'm assuming Tera is sick. I wouldn't be surprised, there is no sanitation anywhere in this place.

Anyways, I broke another rule. I helped Luma collect berries for her sister, as she can't get them herself. I don't know why why it's against the rules to help a subject, but it is. Something I've noticed is that Tera likes Lum berries better than any other berries, so I tend to pick those berries more often.

I can get out of this one for sure. I got out of the previous rule of not talking to subjects, so I can get out of this one too."

-

"DAY 6"

"I'm simply in awe. Words can describe how surprised I am right now. Tera had babies! She's just a Kirlia, but that doesn't stop her. When I went to observe today, there were 2 baby Ralts, crying, each sister cradling one.

I helped, got berries for both of them, and got some milk for the 2 newborns. The twin had twins! I wish I could describe my shock, confusion, excitement, and interestment right now, but there are no words.

I am currently walking to report this to the boss, hopefully she'll find this as thrilling as I do."

-

"DAY 7"

"Lies.

This place is full of lies.

I thought we were helping, but no, all were doing is torture.

They took away the newborn Ralts. They… They killed one. Right in front of me. They also killed 7ER4. Together, I saw them die. Horrible deaths. I- I just…

They took away 1UM4, and put her through sanitization. Confused on what that means? Yea I was too, basically they brainwashed her.

The other newborn Ralts, I have no idea where it is. Probably being out through some torture in a lab.

I thought I could trust this place.

But no.

Boss is making me go on a special mission with her tomorrow at Lake Valor in the Sinnoh region, but at this point, I don't trust her.

Maybe in a different world, I was a trainer to Luma and Tera. Oh, how I wish.

It's times like this I wish I never signed that stupid contract."

-

Luma was going through a range of emotions reading the entire thing. Fear, shock, surprise, confusion, embarrassment, anger, and insecurity. This place brainwashed her! She once called this place home, she helped the people here, but it was all a lie! She was livid, and fuming with anger.

Luma, lashing out in anger, threw a chair across the room. An impressive feat for a Ralts. Luma felt like she needed to research more. Luckily, there was one more log attached with the others.

"DAY 10"

"Unfortunately, the previous author of 1UM4's entries has passed away.

Today, we put 1UM4 inside the newest machine the boss built as a test subject. She accepted it pretty quick, being sanitized and all.

All I can write for now."

Luma searched up this machine that the log just mentioned. Apparently, this machine boosted stats of all species put in it by a multiple of 7.32.

Luma was surprised to see herself on it, but when it had a list of people on it, it had all of her attention.

"I2NU1C
1UM4
7ER4-2
PRI85
RI94L"

Luma immediately began looking through files to find 7ER4-2. The -2 at the end led her to believe that that's one of Tera's kids.

Unfortunately, basically every single file about Tera-2 was encrypted, had a password, and had 2fa. Though she did find one which wasn't restricted, which was just a basic description of Tera-2.

"7ER4-2
Species: Ralts
October 9, 2015

7ER4-2, Offspring of 7ER4.
Physical description: encrypted
Whereabouts: unknown

Last updated: Yesterday"

What caught Luma off guard was the "Last updated" section. Tera-2 was still alive, and someone was using them.

-

Luma tried looking for more information about anything of which she just read, but alas, everything was either encrypted, or corrupted.

Luma walked out of the facility with the knowledge she just gained.

She had a sister.
They were taken to the facility by force.
Her sister had babies.
They killed her sister and one of her babies.
They brainwashed her.
She was about 7 times stronger than any other Ralts that ever existed.
Someone is using her nephew/niece to this day.

Crazy how a singular thought can give you a crazy ride to your backstory.
