Chapter 3
Percy
I was waiting for Annabeth, but I accidentally fell asleep. Yes, I know, typical of me.
Stupid, stupid me! I hit my head with my hand, dammit! I looked around the dreamscape. It was a dimly lit room, with a plain wooden desk in the middle and six wooden chairs around it. Right now, there were 4 occupants.
"She can't live, even though she is your blood, she is still human. She is weak, and you can't always protect her. What if she die and you go into a depressed state?" One of them stated.
"Then I'll protect her with my life! I won't let her die!" Another roared.
"Brother, please see reason. I know you love her, but—"
"I don't care! I won't allow you to kill her. If you even try, I'll declare war on you."
"Then turn her into one of us." Another person suddenly cut in.
"It's her choice, I won't force her!"
"You are blinded by her, I can't stand seeing you like this, brother. You were so much fun." Another voice drawled.
The person suddenly stood up, "I don't care what you think, I won't change nor kill her. If she run away, it's her choice." He declared and stomped out.
The other four figures looked at the retreating figure of the person and looked at each other. As if reached into a conclusion, they nodded at each other. Suddenly, the room blurred and I was in a wood. I saw a girl running away from what seemed like another person. They arrived at a clearing, and the girl stopped, panting.
"You know you can't outrun me, why do you even bother?" The person asked, seemed not even out of breath.
"Well, I have to try, don't I?" The girl tried to attempt a sass.
"Whatever, I am here on your father's order. You must die." The person said.
The girl looked so surprised and heartbroken, "Wha…what?" She croaked.
"You are too weak for him, a weakling who would drag him down." He continued, "And I'm here to do the honours."
"You call this an honour?" The girl glared at him, "I won't go down without a fight."
"You are weak, what can you do against me?"
The girl bared her teeth, "You should know not to underestimate opponents."
"Ha! I shall feast upon your blood!" The person stepped into the light. He was more monster than human, with red eyes, fangs in his mouth, and claws extended. He was extremely pale, and he had a ring on his right hand ring finger. He leapt forward, snarling, about the rip into the girl's neck. "No!"
"No!" I startled awake.
"Nightmares again?" Annabeth murmured sleepily next to me.
It was already morning, with sunlight streaming from the curtains. I looked at time, it was half-past six.
"Percy! Was it a nightmare of not?" Annabeth demanded. I actually forgot I woke her up and she asked a question! What sort of boyfriend am I?
"I'm fine, Wise Girl, and no, it's not a nightmare of the wars nor if that place." I reassured her, "I think it's a demigod dream."
She relaxed visibly after hearing if was not a nightmare, but tensed again after I said it was a demigod dream. "What was it about?" She asked.
I recounted my dream to her. After that, she looked deep in thought. "Fangs, supernatural speed, red eyes, sensitive to light…" she murmured. She suddenly looked up, her eyes wide, "It's not a mythology monster at all."
"What?"
"It's a mortal monster. I need to go to the library." She started pacing around the room.
"Wait wait, time out," I held out my hand to make a stop motion, "Mortal monster? What do you mean?"
"I read it in a book in my cabin back at camp," Annabeth explained, "it's about monsters. It said that apart from the monsters from mythologies like the Greek, Roman ones, there are mortal monsters that were made from original mythology. Thousands of years ago, a mortal mated with a werewolf and had a werewolf-human hybrid, the mortals now just call them werewolves, but actually they are just the descendants of the first werewolf hybrid." She continued, "And about three thousand years ago, a daughter of Hecate was forced by her husband to make her children and himself immortal. She knew that the Gods would not allow it, but she couldn't tell her husband what she was, and she couldn't refuse him unless she wanted to die, so she developed a potion to make them immortal." She stopped to take a breath, "When the gods found out, of course they were not happy, so Zeus ordered Apollo to curse them. He cursed them for as long as they are walking on earth, they need to drink human blood to survive. This new species is called vampires. They were not allowed to be under the sun unless they have this ring made of lapis lazuli, and they have supernatural strength, super healing and mind compulsion ability. They are sensitive to vervain as well."
I stared wide-eyed at her, "Wow, you know so much about them. So you think that the monsters in this town are werewolves and vampires?"
"Yep."
"I don't care about their father, but what about the children?" I asked curiously.
"Well, I remember the book said that the children's names are Freya, Finn, Elijah, Niklaus, Kol and Rebekah Mikaelson. It said Niklaus is actually a vampire-werewolf hybrid, and his father ordered his mother to lock away his werewolf side. As they became vampires, they are immortal, and they can only be killed by white ash wood stake." Annabeth recalled.
"So, these first vampires are still up and about?" I groaned.
"Pretty much yeah." Annabeth sighed, "These first vampires are called the Original vampires. They changed other mortals into vampires throughout the years, and other turned vampires kept changing mortals into vampires as well. They believe if one become a vampire, they would lose their soul, which is just bullshit to me."
"Well, not everyone had gone to the Underworld, have they?" I said.
"Well, true." She agreed, "Anyway, apart from werewolves and vampires, there's any other supernatural species. They are the witches. They are actually descendants of Hecate, but they don't know where their powers come from, thinking that they came naturally." She rolled her eyes at that, "They sometimes cooperate with vampires, sometimes with werewolves."
"So there are 3 main supernatural beings running about in the mortal world, and the mortals don't know they exists unless they want them to know?" I summed up. "We need to tell Nico and Thalia what we found out."
"Let's tell them after breakfast when we have some time alone." Annabeth said.
This chapter is mostly explaining about the vampires, werewolves and witches. The dream at the start of this chapter is talking about a person, can you guess who?
