Chapter 1. Taking off the gloves or the orange jacket.

"Sasuke, I'm glad you're ok?" Sakura said, lunging at the Uchiha and hugging him.

"Sa…ku…ra?" Sasuke said, still in a daze.

Naruto looked at his teammates with a sad expression. Originally he brought Tsunade to show Sakura he was reliable but Sakura didn't even say anything to him. 'Why Sasuke? I just don't get it.' Naruto thought looking down with a sad expression.

Tsunade noticed this and sighed. 'He really likes her.' She thought before Naruto slowly started to walk out. Tsunade left the room and headed to Kakashi's room to heal him.

Three days later, Kakashi was in front of Naruto's apartment. After waiting around three minutes, Naruto opened the door. "Yo!" Kakashi waved at Naruto with an eye smile.

"Kakashi-sensei? What's going on?" Naruto asked.

"We were called by Tsunade-sama to her office." Kakashi said, grabbing his shoulder and teleporting them to the office. Kakashi opened the door and Naruto saw his other two teammates alongside team 10. "We're here Tsunade-sama."

"Good, now I called you here regarding the promotions from the chunin exams. It seems there's one person from each of your team who was promoted." Tsunade stated, getting wide eyes from everyone. "Starting with team 10. It shouldn't surprise you since there was only one member of the team that made it to the finals. Congratulations Shikamaru. You were promoted for your tactical thinking and planning, you viewed the situation of the match and acted accordingly."

"Wow, congratulations Shikamaru." Choji said.

"Yeah, way to go Shika." Ino added, hugging her friend.

"Way to go Shikamaru." Asuma said, patting his head.

"Now for team 7." Tsunade said, gaining the four's attention. "This was for the majority vote, alongside skills and mindset, Sasuke Uchiha." Tsunade said.

Sasuke's eyes widened and gave a small smile. Everyone was cheerful except for two people. One of them was Shikamaru, he thought Naruto deserved it if he was honest. Sure Naruto could use a little work but beating a bijuu and Hyuga in one day was impressive, Sasuke was selfish and he didn't trust him. Plus, he was late for the exam. 'What a drag.'

Naruto was the one who was surprised the most. Sasuke didn't defeat his opponent and he was late for the exam. Sure the teme was strong but he was a jerk. "Congratulations Sasuke-kun." both fangirls said.

"I'm proud of you Sasuke." Kakashi said. "You work hard and it paid off." The rest of the team turned to Naruto and waited to see if he would say something. "Naruto, don't you have something to say to Sasuke?"

Tsunade looked at the blonde and noticed he was shaking. "W-what about me?" Naruto asked.

Tsunade sighed. "I know you're strong but here's the thing. You don't have the character for a chunin. You are reckless for one, while I heard you have great battle tactics and you'll give your life for your team. You have no taijutsu, your chakra control is atrocious and you can't control your emotions. Look at the way you dress, people can spot you and it'll endanger your team. You're not a leader type, you have heart but no brains."

"B-but baa-chan-"

"And there's that! No matter how many times I'll tell you to show me respect, you don't. You disregard what people say to you and act like a child."

"I don't call you that because I don't respect you.. It's because-"

"I don't care why, I'm your leader, nothing more." Tsunade said but unknown to her, those words struck Naruto hard.

"I'm sorry Hokage-sama." Naruto said in a quiet tone.

"Don't worry, Naruto. I'll train you to make sure you become chunin in the next exams." Kakashi said.

"No." Naruto whispered and turned to the door. "I don't need you." Naruto said walking away, startling everyone. "You had 6 months to train me and you taught Uchiha-san behind my back. I'll train myself. I don't want your help anymore" Naruto said, opening the door and walking out of it.

"Naruto, I never dismissed you." Tsunade said as Naruto shut the door. She got up and ran to the door. When she opened it, the blonde was gone to her surprise. "What? How did he disappear so fast?" Tsunade then she noticed something on the ground that broke her heart. It was the necklace she gave him. 'Why did this happen? Gaki, hope you're ok.'

"Great, now no one will find him until he wants to be found." Shikamaru said.

"What do you mean?" Tsunade said, turning to her new chunin.

"This is troublesome, Naruto was able to paint the whole hokage monument in broad daylight and not get caught. He outran jonin and anbu everytime he pulled a prank and the only person who was able to find him was Iruka-sensei. But from what I found out, the only reason Iruka found him was because Naruto allowed it. He felt like a little brother being chased by his big brother. Now that Naruto is upset, who knows where he'll go." Shikamaru said. "Also, Naruto never once disrespected you."

"Then why did he call Tsunade-sama baa-chan all the time?" Ino asked.

"Stupid girl, 'baa-chan' has two meanings." Shikamaru said.

"Don't worry Tsunade-sama, I'll find him and fix things." Kakashi said. He was happy Sasuke was a chunin and ahead of the other two. With this, Sasuke might not become a flight risk but he had a new problem. Naruto, his sensei son, didn't want to be trained by him anymore, not that he could blame him. Kakashi was going to finally fix Naruto's taijutsu and chakra control, then teach him some ninjutsu after finding out his affinities. It hurt him that Naruto didn't want his help.

"Do what you can." Tsunade said, walking to her desk and sitting behind it. "You're dismissed and good luck with Naruto." the group left and Tsunade turned to the window, looking down at her necklace. 'Baa-chan has two meanings.' Shikamaru's words went through her head.

Naruto was behind the hokage monument in a small forest on top of a tree branch. 'I'm not worthy of being a chunin. She has a point, I charged in all of my fights. I don't have any style and people don't even take me seriously.'

"Hey gaki, I saw your little episode." Naruto turned to see Jiraiya behind him smirking.

"Per- Jiraiya-sensei." Naruto said, earning a smile from the toad sage.

"Finally you respect my greatness." Jiraiya said.

"Because I called you by your title, that doesn't mean I respect you." Naruto said before looking at the sky. "I'll respect the first person who treats me like me, not a jinchuuriki. I'll respect the first person who takes me seriously and I'll respect the first person who helps bring me closer to my dream." Naruto said.

"I see, you want to become stronger. I mean I taught you the rasengan, that's something right?" Jiraiya said.

"The rasengan…" Naruto mumbled before turning to Jiraiya. "Jiraiya, you said you taught the fourth. I want you to train me how to be like my father."

Jiraiya gasped when he heard those words. "Y-you know?"

"I'm not as much of a dumbass as most people think. We look alike. If you take off my whiskers, I look like a younger version of him." Naruto said. "I don't believe my father would be proud of how the village treated his son and how his student neglected me. So that leaves you, his sensei." Naruto said with conviction.

"Well, I was going to take you on a three year training trip to prepare for the akatsuki's." Jiraiya said. "I was planning to teach a taijutsu style and help you tap into the kyuubi chakra."

"No." Jiraiya turned to Naruto with a shocked look. "Think for a minute, you want me to use the same chakra the akatsuki are prepared for. Does that make sense to you? I want to be trained like my dad and mother. I assume you knew her if you trained my dad. Sasuke already knows elements jutsu and has a style. Why can't I learn element jutsu?"

Jiraiya didn't know how to counter this. Now that the kid knew who his father was, he had high expectations for himself. Maybe the kid was right, if Minato saw how Naruto was treated, he would be disappointed and as the kids god-father, he had to make things right. "You're right, you need to be strong and need to live up to your legacy. I'll train harder than I originally planned. You are a diamond in the rough. And we can start with this." Jiraiya pulled out some chakra paper and handed it to Naruto. "Pour some chakra into this."

Naruto did as he was instructed and poured some chakra into the paper. It split in half and one side was shredded into tiny pieces and the other side was soaked. "Ok, now what?"

"It seems you have a high level of wind and it is second nature to water." Naruto smiled at this. Jiraiya took off the big scroll on his back and un-rolled it. After that, he summoned a box from the corner of the scroll. He picked it up and handed it to Naruto. "Naruto, this was your parents' scroll. In here is Minato's taijutsu style alongside some techniques from him. Since you have a high affinity to wind, why don't you come to Suna with me? I have a mission to go there and re-establish our relationship. You can learn how to control your wind chakra there and read from the scroll."

"That's fine, I'm just a genin. I don't feel like going on any missions anyway." Naruto said.

'The gaki is being selfish for once, not that I can blame him. To work hard for so little. I might get in trouble but the gaki does need to get out of the village. Being around his team wouldn't be good for him.' Jiraiya thought. "Alright, pack your stuff and we'll leave."

"Great and Jiraiya-sensei, thank you." Naruto said with a bow. Jiraiya smirked as his student ran towards his apartment. As Naruto headed to his apartment, he walked past Akimichi BBQ and saw the rest of the Rookies celebrating. "I knew you could do it, Sasuke-kun." Naruto heard Ino say.

"Well I am a Uchiha, there was no doubt." Sasuke said, trying to cover his happiness.

"Although I'm surprised Shika got promoted as well, considering how lazy he is," Ino commented.

"It's not like I asked for it." Shikamaru said.

"I'm quite surprised Naruto didn't get promoted." Neji commented. "Although I lost to him, using his Clones to outmaneuver me was a smart tactic. It showed he can think on the spot."

"I concur." Shino added. "He's always willing to go the length for the people he cares about. He should've been promoted." Naruto smiled at the comment from Neji and Shino.

"He's too immature." Sakura commented. Naruto frowned. "He's an idiot, he rushes through everything, he wears a bright orange jumpsuit that's not meant for a shinobi and he's loud."

"I agree, I would not follow him." Ino added. Naruto tightened his fist, it was because he wore his idiot mask trying to hide his pain.

"Well I would." Neji said before looking at Sasuke. "No offense to you, Uchiha. But I would rather follow Naruto than you." Naruto's eyes widened at this, while the two fangirls were imitating a fish.

"How could you say that?" Ino asked.

"Because from what I've seen, Naruto is the only team player on team 7. Haruno only listens to Sasuke and does not acknowledge anyone else. And Sasuke only fights for himself." Neji said.

"I'm not going to deny that." Sasuke said. "I need to be strong when I see itachi again and I have to do whatever it takes to reach that goal."

"And that's precisely Neji's point." Tenten said. "While Naruto may not be the smartest person, he does have heart. Plus it wasn't his fault, when we were in the orphanage, he was always ignored and treated like garbage."

Naruto sighed and left. 'I'll prove them wrong, one way or another.'

1 weeks later.

"This is Suna?" Naruto asked, walking through the village gate. "Wow, it feels nice."

"It could be a little cool though." Jiraiya said as they headed to the kage tower. Naruto looked around as he was being stared at by the village and some of the girls were aweing at him.

"Why are they looking at me like that?" Naruto asked.

"Because they are aware of what you did." Naruto turned forward and saw Gaara. "Greetings Uzumaki. It…is..good to see you."

"Gaara? How are you doing?" Naruto asked.

"I'm ok, thanks for asking. I'll escort you to the tower." Gaara said.

"No need, Naruto needs help training. I'll go, why don't you show him around?" Jiraiya suggested.

"Sure, follow me to the training ground." Gaara said, in a monotone way. Naruto was about to go until he felt Jiraiya grab his shoulder.

"Also to help with your training, use shadow clones. Whatever they learn, you'll learn." Jiraiya said. Naruto's eyes widened and smiled.

"Sweet." Naruto said, following Gaara to a training ground.

"So what are you training in?" Gaara asked.

"I found out I have an affinity to wind and since Jiraiya sensei was coming here, he brought me along." Naruto explained

"I see, how about we go to our weapon shop. Then I'll take you to the village library and Maybe you can ask nee-san to help you." Gaara suggested.

"How is your relationship with your siblings?' Naruto asked.

"It's getting better, although Temari wants to spend all her free time with me now. Is it weird that Temari scares me when we go shopping?" Gaara asked.

Naruto chuckled. "Not really, although I never went shopping with a girl. Maybe I'll ask nee-chan to take me shopping when I get back." Gaara chuckled as they went to the training ground.

"Wind Style: Slicing Wind dance!" Temari called as she swung her fan. She was trying to focus her wind into a straight line while adding a gust behind it. "Damn, what am I doing wrong?"

"Nee-chan?" Temari turned around and saw Gaara with an unexpected guest that made her blush.

"Naruto-kun?" Temari called the boy's name. Unknown to them, Temari developed a crush when Naruto saved Gaara from Shukaku's influence and his display of strength when he fought Shukaku. To go that far for those he cared about, the determination and his will to never give up sparked an interest in her. "What are you doing here?"

"Nice to see you again, Mari-chan." Naruto said, making Temari smile at the cute nickname. Jiraiya-sensei came here so he can re-establish a good relationship between our villages and brought me here to train."

"Train? Why would he bring you here to train?" Temari asked.

"Because I have an affinity to wind." Naruto said. "And it's a strong one, the chakra paper shredded to pieces. So he thought I could learn something here. I was wondering if you can help me."

"I would but I have my own problem. I am trying to figure out a way to create a single slice with my fan but it's not working." Temari said. Naruto looked at her confusingly.

"Isn't the size the problem?" Naruto said.

"What do you mean?" Temari asked with interest.

"Well, since you are using a war fan, it's making your attack too big. Why not use two small fans to compress the air between them and in the process will create a slice." Naruto suggested.

Temari was quiet and looked at her battle fan. "But this was my mother's and I can't abandon it."

"I'm not saying that." Naruto said. "I'm saying, add to your arsenal. Use a small fan and your war fan in different situations."

Temari was quiet and smiled at the blonde. "You know, Naruto-kun. You keep surprising me, I guess that's why you were referred to as the number one knuckle headed ninja. Always finding a way out of a situation or problem, even for others."

Naruto just rubbed the back of his and smiled. "Thanks, everyone else in Konoha thinks I'm an idiot beside Neji, Shino and Shikamaru."

Temari frowned at this. "Well I guess you'll have to prove them wrong."

"Precisely." Gaara said. "You beat me in full bijuu form without proper training and we'll help you. We owe you that much for saving me from Shukaku's influence."

"Gaara, you don't owe me anything." Naruto said. "We're friends now and you, make-up boy.." Temari giggled and Gaara chuckled. "And Mari-chan are part of my important people." Temari stops giggling and starts blushing.

Gaara noticed this and smirks. "I approve." Gaara said making Temari's face darker but confused Naruto. "Speaking of, Naruto, Don't you have something else you want to ask Temari?

"Huh, oh yeah. Since I'm not in my village. Can you help me pick out some new clothes? You're not a fangirl like Sakura-chan or Ino. so I trust your judgment." Naruto said.

'This is my chance.' Temari thought with a smirk. "Sure, I'll help you with your training and getting new clothes but you have to do something for me." Naruto was confused but nodded his head. "You have to take me out on a date."

Naruto's face turned red. "W-what? Why would you want to go out with me? You're a princess and I'm practically a nobody."

"DON'T CALL YOURSELF THAT!" Temari yelled, startling the blonde. "Naruto-kun, sorry for yelling but you have to realize that you are not a nobody. When I saw you fight for your comrades, I was amazed at how strong you were, the length you went to go for your friends. And remember your determination to not give up when the scar man tried to trick us to fail, you stood strong and refused to back down. Also how you outsmarted that ignorant mutt and the Hyuga with your clones. You…are…not…a…nobody." Temari said but paused when she saw tears come from his eyes. "Are you ok, Naruto-kun."

"Huh?" Naruto mumbled and wiped his tears away. "Believe it or not, no one ever said something so nice to me. I'm so used to insults and it just made me so happy."

Temari walked up to her fellow blonde and hugged him. "Everything I said was true. If you don't believe in yourself, you just have to approve and get stronger."

"Of course, I plan on surpassing all the kages." Naruto said.

"Good, now do you agree to my terms?" Temari asked, making Naruto's face red.

"Yes Mari-chan, I agree to your terms." Naruto said. "No, I'll be honored to go out with someone as wonderful as you."

Temari blushed and smiled at this. "Flatterer. Get ready and I'll meet you at the hotel you're staying in. Please try to dress nicely."

"Of course, I'll put in double the maximum effort." Naruto said before walking away.

"It seems things will workout." Gaara said.

"Yeah, I hope it does." Temari said before hearing a 'Yahoo' from the distance. She blushed because of how highly Naruto thought of her and headed to her house.

"Pervy sage, I need your help." Naruto said. Jiraiya was looking out the window through an eyeglass where a hot spring was.

"Not now, can't you see-"

"I have a date with Temari." Naruto said, making Jiraiya pause and grabbed the boy by his shoulders.

"Really? How did you do it? This is amazing!" Jiraiya exclaimed.

"Well it turns out she has a crush on me since I beat Gaara and she'll only help train me if I take her out on a date." Naruto said. "I need some nice clothes and I need to find a store to give Mari-chan a gift."

"Don't you worry, the ultimate ladies charmer got you covered." Jiraiya said as he took Naruto to a clothing store to help him get ready for his date with the sand princess.

Temari was walking to the hotel Naruto and Jiraiya were staying at and to be honest, she was kind of nervous. Most guys were afraid of her because of her status as a kage daughter and her intimidating personality. 'But Naruto treats me the same.' She noticed the blonde never cared about status before and did what he wanted but that was something he needed to correct to get a higher rank. "But first comes our date." She made it to the hotel and walked up to the floor and approached the room door. 'Here's goes.' Temari said as she knocked on the door.

Naruto opened the door and when the two blondes laid eyes on each other, they started to blush. Temari was wearing a lavender off shoulder blouse with a white skirt and low ankle strap wedge sandals heels. The most noticeable thing was that her hair was down.

Naruto was wearing a leather jacket with a white button shirt under and some cargo pants. Temari loved how he wasn't wearing a headband and his hair flowed to the back.

"Handsome." "Beautiful." both blondes said at the same time. Both just chuckled and Naruto extended his arm. "My lady."

"What a gentleman," Temari said as she took his arm, Naruto started to lead her to a certain location that surprised the princess. "Naruto-kun, do you know where you are going?"

"Yeah, while I was getting ready for our lovely evening. I sent some clones around the village to find recommendations for a first date and after more information gathering, I decided on a place called the Golden Oasis." Naruto said.

Temari gasped. "Naruto-kun, that's a five-star place. You don't have to go that far."

"I'm aware and I want to. Plus I can't do this in my village since most people still don't like me." Naruto said. "I want to show you a good time and make a good impression."

"Trust me, you already have." they proceeded, gaining more attention of the village. Jiraiya was watching from the top of Temari's home alongside Gaara.

"He'll make her happy." Gaara commented. Jiraiya smiled until a small toad appeared with a note. Jiraiya read it and frowned. "It seems Tsunade-hime wants Naruto to return."

Gaara frowned as well. "Temari is going to be upset."

"No she won't." Jiraiya said. "Because the gaki is staying here. Because of the invasion, genin are allowed to use their vacation after a 3 month period. Naruto has a month's worth of hours from his missions to the wave which was an A-rank, his mission to Taki and most recent one from the land of spring. I'll tell her I approved it since I'm his new sensei."

Gaara looked at the man questionably. "Why are you keeping him from Konoha?"

Jiraiya turned to Gaara with a furious look. "Because he said he needed me. Naruto has been a genin for almost 5 months and he has not grown compared to the others. I know he beat you but that fight could've gone either way. If I hadn't met him at the hot springs, he would not have acquired the toad contract to beat you. He has no taijutsu, on the kage bunshin and rasengan. That'll only get him so far and no one in the village seems to notice. Naruto admitted this to me after Sasuke was promoted to chunin and Naruto was furious. He wants to approve and become Hokage and I'll help him. He's my top priority, not the village, not Tsunade and most definitely not the council."

"So are you going to ignore everything your leader says?" Gaara asked.

"If I deem it unnecessary." Jiraiya said. "There's a group of A-S rank nins who will be coming after you and him. You two need to be strong and I will not lose him." Jiraiya said.

"We'll train together and make sure that group doesn't win." Gaara said.

"Well, I'll leave Naruto here and head back to Konoha. I'll leave some instructions for him to train and since you three are close, I trust his safety to you." Jiraiya said before heading to the hotel.

Temari could honestly say this was one of the best nights of her night. She was surprised at how far Naruto went to make sure the date was good for her. She couldn't see him as the immature blonde she met at the chunin exam and her feelings were growing further. The two were sitting on her porch balcony, looking at the stars while holding hands. "Thanks for a wonderful first date, Naruto-kun."

Naruto turned to the sandy blonde and gave her a warm smile. "No problem, Mari-chan. Thanks for going out with me."

"And there'll be many more in the future." Mari said, making Naruto confused.

"But I thought people only go on more than one date when they're boyfriend and girlfriend?" Naruto said.

"I'm glad you're catching on." Temari said before wrapping her arms around Naruto's neck. "So what do you say? Can you handle the Princess of the Sand?"

Naruto smiled and leaned his head on Temari's. "Only if you could handle the Prince of the Leaf." Temari was confused by the statement but it was forgotten when Naruto captured her lips and wrapped his arms around Temari's waist.

'Yeah, he's definitely a keeper.' Temari thought as she melted into the kiss.

This is my last new Naruto fic. I made this because Naruto x Temari is one of my favorite pairings and I wanted to do a story with these two. Also in one of my other fics, I hinted I was going to make this when I broke the fourth wall. There will be no Political Marriage or Naruto leaving the village but there will be small bashing and Jiraiya will be a better teacher.
