"Sh-t, sh-t, sh-t!" Gabe hurried as far from the office as he could. Miguel was going to end him!
Jess was on the search for Miles, this had him written all over it. She was nearly knocked over when Mig ran past her, searching for his brother.
"Dude, what did you do?" Gwen asked when Miles turned his invisibility off.
"I have to go," he shook his head, trying not to panic.
"You think he won't go to your house?" Pav scoffed.
"I…d mmit, I need Jess," he ran from the room.
Miles managed to find her as she was about to check the quiet room for him. He grabbed her in a hug, "It was an accident, please help!"
"Accident? You've been having a lot of those lately," she turned to look at him, "I tell you to give him his stuff and you continue to attempt being sneaky? How is this benefiting anyone?"
"I know, I keep messing up. You were right, but please," he begged.
"Please what? Tell him what happened," she pointed.
"He's gonna be so mad at me. Please talk to him first!"
"Yeah, now he will be," a crash could be heard from a small distance. She looked to the teenager with a disappointed expression.
"Sorry, Aunty, I'm sorry, please help. I'm begging," he whined, hugging her tighter.
X
"Sorry, los siento, I panicked," Gabri tried climbing out of his brother's arms, "I'll talk."
"[Yeah you are. Before I was just threatening you. Now we both are going to be in pain.]" He stormed to his office, where the others still were.
He made a bee line to Peter. He reached down and grabbed the older Spider-man's slipper, "I'm borrowing this. Lyla."
"On it."
A portal opened up, Miguel jumping through with his brother. It was time for a little conversation.
Hobie put his belt back on, "Looks like it's gonna be an interesting day."
"You think he's really gonna beat him?" Pav whispered.
"Did you see the murderous intent in his eyes," Gwen scoffed, "We've seen that look before. He's going to kill his brother."
Ben looked to Peter, "Better him than me."
"Did you do something?" Peter looked at him confused.
"When someone ruins it like that for everyone else, you don't have to do much," he scoffed.
Miguel returned twenty-ish minutes later minus one little brother. He scanned the room, checking to see who was still there. Practically everyone.
"Where is Miles?"
Peter looked at the slipper when it was handed back to him, "What villain did you fight with this?" His eyebrows furrowed. The strap was hanging by a few threads, one of the bunny's ears was gone and the other was bent. And to top it off there was a hole in the sole of it. Well…a bigger hole.
"I'll get you a new pair."
"My wife got me these."
"Then she can get you a new pair," Miguel dismissed, getting closer to the teens, "Miles, sunflower boy, where is he?"
Each teenager was busying themselves with something.
The giant circled the group, watching Hobie adjust the guitar strings, Gwen read a magazine, and Pavitr play with his phone.
"I'm not going to hurt him, he and I just need to have a talk is all," no movement, "Hobie, you seem to know a lot that goes on."
The rocker slid further on the table, away from the Society leader, "I only saw him when he first got here. No clue where he is now."
"Gwen. Aren't you and him in some type of relationship?" He turned his crimson eyes towards her.
"It's complicated," she wavered, "But last I saw he was going to the bathroom."
"Gonna suck when I tell his parents," Mig tsked, "I mean, his dad being a cop, I can't imagine him being happy to hear that his son did a B and E."
Pav brushed his hair aside, tapping away at his phone. He flinched, seeing Miguel's frame in front of him.
"Who you texting?"
"Uh Noone. Gayatri," India began sweating.
"Young love, so beautiful. What you texting her?"
"N-nothing, just asking how she's doing."
"Can I see?"
"It's kinda private," he shuffled uncomfortably in his chair.
"Why? Are you sending inappropriate pictures? In my office? In front of a young lady?" Miguel accused while pointing to Hobie, who was a little disrespected by that remark.
"Ah, no no, I wouldn't think to do that," he shook his head, a blush coming over his face.
Miguel's face seemed to fall a bit more at not getting his answer, "Ok, new tactic," he walked to Peter, grabbing his foot and stealing his other slipper, "Lyla, lock down the office and deactivate everyone in this room's watch."
"Huh?" The teens saw the door close.
Mig snapped the slipper against his palm, "I dusted my skills off some, so I'm in a mood to hand out some discipline. Who wants to get it first? I'm getting my information."
"Wait, not me too, right boss?" Ben hid behind Peter, "I don't really hang out with him like that. We're like friendly acquaintances at best."
"Someone here knows something," he glared at Peter. Even he wasn't safe, "Whose first? I know, youngest to oldest, " he reached for Pav.
"Ah! Wait!" He backed into Gwen.
"Do you think this is really the best way-?"
"I can go oldest to youngest?" Miguel cut Peter off, "You volunteering?"
"Uh," Pete stammered, losing his nerve some.
"That's what I thought," he grabbed at India's wrist.
"He said something about going to Jess, that's all I know!" Pav rushed behind Gwen.
The giant sighed contently, "Thank you. That's all I wanted to know," he handed Peter his slipper back, "Lyla, reverse the order," he stormed from his office with a determination to talk to a dumb teenager.
Gwen scratched her scalp, "Should we warn him?"
"How?" Hobie scoffed.
"I didn't mean to, I choked," Pav immediately felt terrible.
Ben wiped the sweat from his forehead, "He'll be fine, I'm sure…"
Pete pretended he hadn't been nervous, "I don't think warning him will help as much as you guys hope," he wasn't going to say it out loud, but whatever Miles did he was going to have to deal with the consequences of it.
