Shanghai China

Adjusting to a new life in China has been difficult to say the least in. However, as Jin woke up, he noticed a brand-new game alert that at least showed that his time in China could be a bit more productive than he first thought.

[Greetings Player. Your game system has been updated to version 1.022V and now has new perks, quests and all sorts of goodies available to you.

Also, you can now gain perks through specific actions or as possible rewards from certain quests and skills.

You also now have access to a Codex of information which stores all knowledge and lore about the world. It is up to you to fill out the Codex however.]

"A game update huh?" Jin asked before he sat up in his large bed in his new room. The room is large and mundane in simple terms, but Jin didn't care. The room itself was inside of the skyscraper that was owned by his family business. Only Jin had access in and out of the room, except for some designated staff members who could bring him food or supplies if he asked for it.

He was the CEO publicly and by legal name but the real people in charge of the organization where the board of directors until Jin turned twenty-two based on his fathers instructions…Jin could go outside and do whatever he wished so long as it didn't bring shame to the family and he is given a monthly allowance to use on whatever he wished as well.

Except for drugs, weapons or prostitutes. The staff and himself included are subjects to various drug tests and whatnot.

To say that Jin felt as if he was a bird in a golden cage would be accurate. He had everything he needed in his cage, but it didn't matter because he knew that he didn't have true freedom…He was a tool…No. A better term would be a mascot and Jin had a sour taste in his mouth when he thought about that.

He needed to learn how to run the business when the time came but even than he doubted that he'd be truly free.

"Damn it." Jin said before he tossed his covers off before standing in his room in just his underwear as he walked over to the large window of his room and opened it to see the sun and the city of Shanghai itself as birds flew through the air.

Jin placed a hand on the glass and took his sweet time to gaze out at his 'home' before he walked over to the bathroom and grabbed one of the towels before stepping into the shower to clean himself and take some time to try and figure out what he should do today.

"I can do more studying to kill some time but than what do I do? I don't have any friends here and being a foreigner outside of the US already puts a mark on my back as it is." Jin said to himself while letting the hot water hit the back of his head while his head was lowered towards the tiled floor of the shower.

After drying off and getting dressed in some basic street clothes, Jin gathered his phone, keys and wallet before alerting the staff that he was heading out for a bit. Nobody objected and Jin started walking around Shanghai.

The place was busy like always and there are several sights that Jin liked but something he noticed and took interest in was posters and promotions about an intense martial arts competition that was going on.

It would be hosted at Shanghai Stadium and Jin decided to travel there via the limo he called in. A personal driver by the name of Dean was kind enough and was more than willing to take him wherever he needed to go. So, when he came up to the street, Jin hopped in the back and enjoyed the ride as Dean took him to the stadium.

Jin soon dismissed Dean and told him that he would call him again when he needed to pick him up. Dean left and Jin bought an entrance ticket before entering the stadium and finding his own seat to watch the fights. Dozens of people and several fighting rings were in the center of the stadium and hanging from the ceiling were several television monitors, allowing everyone to see all the matches.

Jin also took note that martial arts in China is a lot different from the states. The fighters here have a lot more skill and are much more intense.

"Enjoying the show?" A man asked in English, making Jin look to his right and see a person sit next to him. This guy is tall and jacked physically speaking. He has fair skin with dark brown hair on his head and is dressed in a blue muscle shirt and jeans with sneakers on his feet. On the left side of his face is a tattoo of three claw marks and Jin started to recognize the man without needing to look up at the information hovering above his head.

"Your Brandon Sabin, the hardcore UFC fighter from Metropolis." Jin said in shock and awe while the man chuckled.

"Damn right. Looks like I've got a fan, but I sure as hell didn't think it'd be a kid half my age. Or a kid in Shanghai who speaks perfect English."

"I'm from Gotham but I moved here for family business. But why are you here? You're like a badass champion fighter. You were supposed to make another run for the championship. Or at least that's what people on Twitter said." Jin replied while Brandon stretched in his seat a bit.

"Well, I wanted to at first, but I decided to come here and fight in this martial arts tournament. The Tekken Tournament is held every three years. News about it hasn't reached the states yet, but all the real fighters know about this tourney and how intense it is. I'm here fighting so I can find that championship hunger again." Brandon explained before glancing at Jin. "So, you're into the fighting scene and looking to see if you got what it takes?"

"Maybe. I just came here because I thought it looked cool, but maybe I might consider being a fighter. I just have a lot on my plate right now, so I can't make any promises."

"Fair enough. Besides your like…Fourteen or something. You've got time to figure out what you want to do."

"Actually, I'm fifteen. But since you said you're here to fight. Shouldn't you be down on the ground floor with the other fighters?" Jin asked while Brandon smiled.

"I already fought and made it into the next bracket. Take a good look kid, kas you're looking at the next winner of the Tekken Tournament." Brandon said before the two of them watched the rest of the fights and sure enough Jin actually made a friend by coming to this tournament…Granted Brandon wouldn't be here in Shanghai for long, but it was good enough for now.

Shanghai China/Tekken Tournament

"This is insane." Jin commented while he was in Brandon's private looker room along with the rest of Brandon's team. Mainly two managers and three branding people who will make sure to hype up Brandon's win. Now the reason Jin is in this room is because he made a nice enough impression on Brandon to allow Brandon to accept Jin as a temporary 'waterboy' in his terms.

Basically, all Jin had to do was give Brandon water and ice after his fights and stand outside the ring while holding his towel, which he wasn't allowed to throw into the ring under any circumstances.

Jin suspected that the UFC fighter might be taking him under his wing for a bit since he did empathize with the fact that Jin had a shitty father. Brandon was similar in that regard but neither spoke up about it since they only talked about their families once and decided it would be best to drop the subject all together.

Brandon was warming up with some strikes and forms of muay tai since his big fight was coming up. And his managers were hyping him up.

"Jin. Do me a favor and bring me a bucket of ice." Brandon said before Jin nodded his head after grabbing an empty bucket and started walking the halls of the stadium looking for the nearest ice machine.

"I swear I saw one of those machines earlier." Jin commented before adjusting his sunglasses while he looked around and soon enough stumbled into a separate hallway where he heard some kind of heavy pounding.

Jin was curious and followed the sounds despite other people in the hall who seemed to be ignoring it. Not in a super weird way but more like they knew what the sound was and didn't care.

Jin soon stumbled upon the source of the sound by looking through the opened door of another fighter's room. This fighter is massive at six foot six with bronzed skin and black hair tied into a topknot on his head. He has well defined muscles to his form and his back is covered in a serpentlike dragon tattoo that crossed over onto his shoulders and went down to his arms as well as wrapping around his chest. He is clad in black martial arts trousers with no shirt and no shoes as he is practicing his kicks on the ice machine that was located in his room.

Fang Li, Lvl: 30

Bloodthirsty Dragon

Jin was shocked completely by what he saw. Brandon, the highest-level person he saw was level 22, but this guy seemed to just give off the aura of someone dangerous.

You've been inflicted with [Panic]! Duration three minutes!

Fang slowly stopped his kicks and turned around to look at Jin and he slowly had a sadistic grin form on his face while Jin noticed his black eyes and the black goatee on his face that dripped down to his pecks and tied with bold rings.

Fang didn't say a word and simply let out a massive roar towards Jin, which not only doubled the Panic debuff, but it caused him to drop the bucket and run back towards Brandon's locker room while Fang laughed to himself before cracking his knuckles against each other.

"Jin, what took you so long? And where's the ice?" Brandon asked when Jin ran into the room struggling to breathe.

"Brandon, you can't fight in this next match." Jin quickly said while Brandon had a serious look appear on his face.

"What?"

"The guy you're going to fight. He's a monster. Like a seriously bad monster. He was practicing by destroying his own ice machine without even bruising his damn feet or hands." Jin said before Brandon walked up to him and put a hand on his shoulder.

"Jin. Take a breath and calm the hell down. I've fought monsters in the octagon before. This next chump ain't any different. Now come on. The bell already rang, and we've got to head to the ring." Brandon said before walking out of the room, followed by his supporters before Jin caught up to them with a horrible feeling in his gut.

Jin put on a brave face after the debuff ended and was able to slowly regain his composure while standing outside of the fighting stage along with the rest of Brandon's team. The announcer hyped up Brandon to the crowd that cheered for him before Fang came out and made his way to the ring with the topknot on his head undone, letting his hair flow down to his shoulders along with the rings on his goatee gone.

Jin noted that the man looked more intimidating and wilder like this, but he held his tongue and didn't want to upset Brandon. So, when the announcer identified Fang by the title that Jin saw above his head, Jin felt his heart sink even more as the crowd cheered for the monster.

The fight started and Brandon started off strong with a flurry of punches, faints and kicks to Fang who was being pushed back a bit before he ducked under one of Brandon's blows and spun around to catch Brandon in the jaw with a brutal elbow strike. Jin took notice at how fast the giant man changed the course of the fight. Brandon wasn't some fake fighter; he was the real deal and the fact that Brandon was just beaten back was stunning.

Brandon quickly shook his head and avoided a fast-moving kick to the head from Fang before retaliating with a swift roundhouse kick that hit Fang in the face, but Brandon recoiled from the blow. It felt as if he had just kicked steel. That moment of hesitation was all Fang needed before he hit Brandon with a high knee strike, which took the MMA fighter off his feet as the crowd cheered.

Brandon was a bit slower to get up this time but when he did. Fang started beating him with powerful punches and kicks to Brandon's most vital areas such as the head, joints, throat and kidneys.

"Why the hell isn't the ref stopping this?" One of Brandon's managers asked while the announcer seemed powerless to interfere in the brutal assault that ended when Fang brought his elbow down hard onto the back of Brandon's throat.

It was in that moment that Jin grabbed Brandon's towel and through it into the ring to end the match, but Fang grabbed the towel and threw it out of the ring with clear anger on his face before he walked back over to the seemingly unresponsive and bloodied MMA fighter.

"Stop!" Jin cried out in vain before Fang grabbed the back of Brandon's head and raised the fighter to his feet before pulling his free hand back and hit the center of Brandon's back with a punch so strong that dozens of people in the crowd heard a wet sounding crack as Brandon was limp on the ground and unmoving.

Jin ran into the ring and went to Brandon's side to try and wake him up, but that proved to be a mistake because Fang kicked Jin's head so strong that his vision and hearing became blurred, and he landed hard on the ground and could barely move.

You have been inflicted with the [Concussed] debuff!

Jin could barely even read the message in front of him as his vision blurred. Before he lost consciousness, he saw what looked like medical personal running towards him and Brandon.

END!

A/N: Things are starting to pick up and Jin just realized how crazy things can get and that he just made a dangerous enemy. Stay tuned for what happens next time on Heroes and Games.
