Chapter 6

Marion stared at the dying embers on the hearth. She should have stood up and put some more twigs and moss to keep the fire going, but she didn't want to leave her heated place for that. Her eyelids were heavy, her eyes were closing, it seemed to her that she was almost asleep when, looking away from the fire, she saw the figure of a hooded man sitting at her feet. She froze and did not move, watching the unexpected guest. He got up, walked over to the fire and stretched out his hand in front of him, trying to keep warm. Marion stared at his hand, she recognized immediately.

"Robin," she whispered softly.

Afraid to breathe, she slowly got up and walked over to him, putting her hands on his shoulders.

"Robin," she repeated. – I know it's you. Please, look at me.

"Not now," she heard in reply.

- But why? She protested and reached out to push the hood off his face.

"Don't, please," he leaned away.

- Robin, I want to see you, I know it's you.

He abruptly turned away from her and walked away, she rushed after him.

- Wait, don't go away! – she shouted and immediately woke up from her scream.

The coals were almost burned out, there was no one in the cave, Marion covered her face with her hands and sobbed.
