This chapter was a bit harder for me to write, considering I had to finish it in less than one day, and I am trying to focus on developing Tobias's character; he's honestly my favorite character in Divergent, the way he becomes from this stern, tough instructor to how he learns to love, and how he loves Tris so much. The fact that Tris died at the end of Allegiant made me cry for Tobias, which is partly the reason I chose to write this story in replacement of Allegiant.

I hope you enjoy this chapter, it took me a while to figure out how to write it well, and sorry I got it a bit late out today on this Sunday! I hope you have a lovely weekend!

Please leave a review if you enjoy my story, I really appreciate it :)

Without further ado, enjoy!

Chapter 2 - We Meet Again

Tobias POV

Tris has no idea what I did last night, but I'm pretty sure my face is giving hints, because she scans the room, looking suspicious. And she has every right to be. But I'm a leader now and I am ready to make decisions on my own now. While all of Dauntless last night was having a little party, I was able to sneak out and organize some things. A drop of guilt in the back of my head tells me you should tell Tris, you promised her no more secrets but I ignore it.

I rub my hand on the back of my head and squeeze her hand harder. And then right on cue, the alarm for a unapproved visitor goes off. Tris's eyes widen and so do the eyes of everyone else in our table, and instinctively, I reach for my hidden gun, even though I know what's going to happen.

Everyone ducks underneath the table, but Tris stays in her seat and I stand up. Everyone else has also ducked underneath the tables and reached for their guns, and the damn alarm is still going off.

"Are you able to hold a gun?" I whisper to Tris. In case this goes wrong, I need her to be able to protect herself, not go frozen like she did at Amity.

She nods hesitantly and I hand her one of my hidden guns. "Trust me on this." I say and I release her hand, but she grips my hand tighter. "What are you hiding from me?" she hisses.

I love this strong side of her, the strong and resistant and resilient side of her, but right now I need her to trust me.

"Trust me." I repeat and I release my my grip before walking towards the door and opening it, then closing it behind me. The dead silence follows me.

I weave through the madness and shouting at The Pit, going to the entrance. "Move it." I growl at the guards and they obediently allow me through.

I push through the doors and then finally I see them. They're standing at the entrance, unarmed, and I press the button to turn the alarm off, before pushing another button to force the doors behind me closed so no one can eavesdrop our conversation.

"Hello, Amar." I say, and cross my arms. "So we meet again."

"Hello, Four." Amar greets me with a smile on his face, not seeming to notice the glare in my eyes. "How are you? I haven't seen you in two years. You look older."

"Don't." I say through clenched teeth. "I had to go through this without you because you left me, and the only reason I contacted you was because I had no other choice."

Amar has the decency to look guilty. "Four, I had to. If I didn't, they would've actually killed me, and me dead wouldn't have been able to help you."

I give him a icy look. Even if he did try to protect me by faking his death, it definitely did not help the fact that he left me in this Divergent madness and without any guidance on surviving without getting caught.

I shrug and shift my weight. I didn't have the energy to discuss this anymore. "Can you introduce me to your comrades?"

Amar's eyes light up. "This is George Wu, Kyra Hrene, Eris Sapl, and Tamsyn Crynis." he says, gesturing to each of them. "And guys, this is Four, the greatest Dauntless prodigy alive."

George Wu...Tori's dead brother?

I quickly analyze all of them. Amar is a good fighter and I know that from initiation; George was pretty average from what I've heard; Kyra had a sweet smile and black hair tied up in a ponytail, but I knew from experience not to be fooled by sweet smiles and pretty faces. And she had a gun in her holster, the only one out of the five to have a weapon. Eris looked like he had just gone through a fear landscape, with tired eyes darting all over the place, and Tamsyn was eyeing me suspiciously. I gave her a intimidating look back.

"So...George Wu, as in Tori's dead brother?" I clarify.

George nods. He looks like Tori; her slim cheeks and sharp features I could see on him easily. "They also faked my death, but the one thing they forgot to do was tell my sister. They butchered that marvelously." he grumbles, and I find myself looking at a tattoo on his left bicep. It was two stars, interlocked together. Tori had the same one. I was just realizing how close Tori and George were.

"I'm Kyra, Eris's girlfriend." Kyra steps forward and gives me a firm handshake. "And just to be clear, if you deny my strength in any way because I'm a girl, you will get punched in the face."

"And you will find yourself on the ground in two seconds, begging for mercy if you attempt anything." I retort.

Eris quietly gives me a wave, and Tamsyn acknowledges me with a nod.

"Whoa there, let's chill there Four." Amar gives me a awkward laugh and I give him a cold stare back. "Why did you contact us anyway? I made it clear in my note to you to never contact me unless you desperately, as in world shattering threatening desperately needed our help." he says, emphasizing desperately.

I roll my eyes. "Exactly why I contacted you! Our world is on the edge of toppling and I badly need your help, because without it, the factions and our entire society might collapse." I say. "Erudite is conducting a master plan to take out all the Divergent for control, because we are uncontrollable and immune to simulations; the Candor are also after us, considering we left them and now they may or may not be controlled by Erudite. Because you're on the outside, you probably have more advanced technology and weapons to help us fight them, and more people too. What I'm asking is we need your help to fight Erudite, and afterwards you can go back to your little outside world and we can keep the factions here and everybody will be safe."

Tamsyn winces at my brutal honesty, but I'm not in the mood to talk. "We can do that, but why do you even need our help? You guys are a bunch of brutal warriors and can literally shoot a gun at a perfect target miles away." she spits out.

I glare at her. "For one, only a few of us like myself can have perfect gun and knife aim like that. Two, half of them are with Erudite as traitor Dauntless, three, some people, such as my girlfriend, are ready to kill themselves or go on a suicide mission to save our world from this Erudite insanity. Take a look at that and you will know how desperate we are that people are willing to kill themselves to escape from this."

I wasn't just talking about Tris though: what no one knew was that apart from Zeke and Shauna, in initiation, I had a friend named Henry; we discovered the Erudite files together, and because he was originally Erudite, the fact that his ex-faction was so brutal killed him, and he committed suicide. I couldn't lose Tris like I lost Henry; I can't lose anyone else, even though at the same time, I have nothing to lose.

Tamsyn shifts uncomfortably and satisfied, I turn back to Amar. "We need your help and I'm not going to beg you for it."

Amar sighs and scratches his chin, a habit I'd grown accustomed to seeing him doing during initiation. "We'll do it for you, but only because I believe in you."

I look away. I wasn't in the mood for positive happy fuzzy warm feelings. I wanted to punch something. "Thank you." I turn to start heading back inside before I remembered something. "Amar, bring them to the apartment across from the leader section. And keep them there until I'm ready to introduce to Tori and Harrison."

I open up the gates again and head to the training room. If I couldn't take my frustration and anger out by yelling, I would take it out on the punching bags and targets.

In the training room there's nobody there, thank God. I had no idea how to tell Tris I had gone to see Evelyn yesterday, considering I think they hate each other. Personally I think Tris is still hung up over what Evelyn told her, that Evelyn would be there for me forever but Tris is temporary. They don't know I overheard their conversation, but I intend to make Tris permanent, not temporary.

I pick up a gun and examine the smooth surface. I can see my reflection in it, and I am almost shocked at who I see. No longer do I see a scared boy with frightened gray blue eyes. I see a guy that I don't recognize, with a stern expression and wandering eyes. I wonder what I've done to become this person.

I slip a bullet into the gun before picking it up and facing the target. Shooting and fighting have become like a second nature to me; I move into stance, and exhaling I fire the bullet. It lands in the center of the target.

I don't remember how long I've stayed in the training room, but the next time I look up the sun is already starting to dim a bit. I put down the knife I'm holding and wipe the sweat off my forehead before slipping out of the training room. I realize just then I haven't talked to Tris all day. I felt bad for neglecting her. I follow the sea of Dauntless to the dormitories in search of her. I needed to explain to her our situation before Tori and Harrison.

Not surprisingly, no one is there besides Christina and Cara, who give me a scalding look. I give them a icy look back before continuing on my search for Tris. But once I step out into the hall, I have no idea where to look.

Finally deciding to look for Zeke instead, I find myself absentmindedly tracing the steps to his apartment. Surprisingly, he is there and I step inside.

"How are you, Four." Zeke says without looking up.

I shrug. "Do you know where Tris is?"

Zeke finally looks up and the look in his eyes sends me stepping back. "Well, maybe you would know where your girlfriend is if you didn't go running off and disappearing for eight hours! Do you have any idea of what time it is?"

I stare at him, confused. It's been eight hours?

"Okay, not eight hours." he admits. "But you've been gone since eight am and it's nearly three. Tris left a while ago to the initiation training room. I think Uriah, Lynn, and Marlene are with her. But...you might want to give her some time. She was pissed when you left without explaining. I swear to God, she could've set the whole table on fire if we didn't calm her down."

I grimace. "Sounds like I have some explaining to do."

Zeke laughs. "You definitely do! And while you're at it, give me a kiss to thank me for not also being pissed as fuck at you!" he calls after me.

I laugh. "The only person I'm kissing is Tris, and it'll be a thank you for not killing me!" I call over my shoulder.

I set out again to the initiation room, which I haven't set foot in since the beginning of the war, when I was still discovering the plans for the Erudite-Dauntless war.

If I wasn't worried before, I am definitely worried now about Tris's temper. After all, I did leave her with a gun with no explanation other than to trust me.

Outside the door, I pause and listen.

"Can we not though?" Tris.

"Why not? You're so good with guns!" I hear Marlene's voice. I bet they're playing around with guns. They better be careful otherwise they're gonna shoot the window or something.

I hear shifting. "How about we play around with the knives if you don't want to practice with guns?" I hear Uriah's suggestion. Inside, I'm thankful for Uriah's intervention on Tris's behalf.

"Okay, fine." Lynn.

I guess all four of them are in there. Quietly, I slip inside, and they don't notice me in the shadows watching them as they bicker about who has a better aim. I'm glad that Tris has friends to keep her lighthearted. I'm worried that she will tip off the edge of insanity soon, but I'm glad that at least her friends can help keep her stable for a while longer.

"If you guys want to settle this, let's see who can toss a knife closest to the blueberry in that muffin." Tris grumbles, pointing to a basket of muffins. Lynn's eyes light up.

"I'm going first." she says before flinging the knife at the basket. The knife sticks out perfectly, in the muffin but not even close to the blueberry.

Uriah smirks at her. "I bet I can do ten times better than that lousy throw."

Lynn glares at him and they continue bickering, while Marlene happily plucks a muffin out of the basket and Tris twirls a knife in her fingers. Her eyes scan the room lazily and they land on me, widening in surprise.

Five, I mouth at her before holding up five fingers, and then pointing in the vague direction of the training room I was in before. She nods discreetly, and I slip out of the room, without the other three ever noticing me.

Hello, it's me again! I finished this chapter and I'm so happy now hehe to get this out of the way. I already started on the third chapter, so I want some opinions on this one on what to do better so I can improve in my next chapter!

Like I stated in my above AN, Tobias's character development is incredibly important in my opinion, and because this book starts in the middle of Insurgent, it's hard to incorporate it in, so let me know how you think I did this time. I will be revealing more in the next Tobias POV, as it's a bit hard to understand right now.

I hope you enjoyed this chapter as I spent a while struggling and tapping on my keyboard to try and get this out as fast as possible.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed and I'd love for you to leave a review, follow or favorite, it helps me to see that people enjoy my stories :)

P.S I said I would make this chapter longer than the first one; I lied, this one is shorter lmao by like 100 words but shhhh it'll be okay haha

Shoutout to Fillpina04 for being my first follower on this story, I hope you liked this chapter!

Love to all of you and see you in the next chapter!
