AN: Another one of the story ideas and demo. This one is, if you guys don't know already, will be about COD: Advanced Warfare and Halo. This part of the story here will be about Kelly, Sarge, Donut and C.T and truth to be told I actually abandoned this idea coz I don't have much of a drive (or the will) to actually do this story. But then one day, I asked a friend of mine online to help me choose which reality will Halo's super soldiers end up in? Will it be Metro: Exodus or COD: Advanced Warfare and in the end, you know the answer. Enjoy this one-shot demo story idea guys ;D.
Kelly's vision was blank. Ever since the fight with Cortana and Warden Eternal, a machine began to react and out comes a bright light consuming everyone in the room. Then everything went black. Of course, their two targets escaped as the machine started to react. Kelly opened her eyes slowly as her armor systems began to function again, albeit not too well. She looked to her right and left before getting up slowly. She's in some type of room, on the floor.
She looked to her right and left to see C.T, Sarge and Donut lying beside her. Wait a minute…how we're they here in the first place? Maybe someone carried them to this room. A lot of questions are on her mind right now and she's going to find out what. She suddenly heard Sarge muttering in his sleep about getting Lopez deported. Kelly then began waking the three Spartans, starting with C.T.
"Wake up Spartan," Kelly said as she shook her.
The brown armored Spartan groaned as she slowly got up before putting a hand on her helmet. "Ugh, what happened?"
"Cortana's machine threw us to wherever the hell we are," Kelly said.
The two heard a snore as they turned to see Sarge sleeping soundly.
"Let's go wake them up."
C.T nodded. The brown armored Spartan then shook the red armored sergeant.
"Come on Sarge, wake up!"
"Huh?" Sarge said his voice a bit sleepy. "Can't a man get a little sleep? Wait a minute…" Sarge got up in a sitting position as he looked around him. "Where the hell has Cortana's doohickey send us off to?"
Kelly then woke Donut with ease as the 'lightish red' Spartan got up in a cheerful manner.
"Ah, good morning everyone!" Donut said.
"Good evening Spartan," Kelly replied.
"Oh!" Donut gasped before saluting. "Ma'am."
"Sarge looked at Kelly and saluted too. "Ma'am, didn't know we'd be ending up together."
"Nor did I," Kelly said before looking around. "Where are we…?"
"Hmm…looks like a bunker," Donut observed.
"A bunker?! Don't tell me we're in the clutches of those dirtbag Insurrectionists in this bunker!" Sarge exclaimed.
Donut suddenly realized something as he looked around his body. "And where are our weapons?!"
"Over there!" Kelly pointed to a nearby table where all their weapons are.
The Spartans stood up and went to the table to get their weapons.
"Ah how I missed you shotgun," Sarge said as he picked up his M45D Shotgun Lawgiver. "And now I'm gonna take you to massacre the entire Insurrections in this bunker!"
"Uhm Sarge, I don't think the Insurrectionists would be dumb enough to leave our weapons with us," C.T pointed out.
"Oh yeah," Sarge realized. "Point taken C.T."
"Must be a UNSC outpost we're in then," Kelly assumed.
"Could be," C.T said.
Everyone equipped their weapons with Donut and C.T equipping their standard Battle Rifles. Kelly then equipped her Oathsworn shotgun while already equipped his. The Spartans then equipped their pistols.
"We should talk to someone in charge," C.T suggested.
"Right, let's go," Kelly said.
"Yes ma'am," they said.
They walked out of the room as Donut spoke up.
"Hmm, the interior doesn't look like UNSC though."
"Not every UNSC bunker looks advanced, some actually look old fashioned," Kelly explained.
"It's true," C.T joined in the conversation. "Since way back when the Human-Covenant war began resources were actually quite scarce since almost all of the resources were being used for the war."
"Ah I see," Donut said.
"Hello?! Anyone home?! Sound off Marine?! Soldiers?!" Sarge shouted. "Anyone fail to sound off is insubordinate! Ya'll will be running around the lap 100 times with toe jams inside your boots!"
Footsteps were heard as they looked to see a soldier walking down the catwalk.
"You're awake!" he said. The man has brown skin and black hair with black eyes and was wearing a military uniform. Though his military uniform look slightly unfamiliar.
"Who are you guys?" the man asked as he came face to face with the Spartans. "You guys ain't Atlas?"
"Atlas?" C.T questioned.
"Is that some kind of company that sells 'space rocks' but turned out to be a regular stupid rock?" Sarge said.
"Uhm, no," the soldier said. "It's the largest military corporation now out to take over the world."
Wait…that doesn't sound right. Cortana was the one that's running almost everything in the galaxy. Anything that seems irregular or bad to her is going to be immediately disposed of. If said person that want to take over the world of course resists Cortana's rule, since Cortana Forerunner powers at her fingertips and with a flick of her finger she could disintegrate someone.
"What're you talking about?" Kelly questioned. "Cortana's out there running amuck of the whole galaxy."
"Now it's the soldier's turn to be confused."
"Uh…what?"
"Son, don't tell me you've been brainwashed by that son of a b*tch of an A.I," Sarge said.
Before the soldier could say anything one of his comrades called out to him.
"Hey Knox, Cormack's back!"
"I'll be there!"
The soldier known ask Knox looked back towards the Spartans. "Follow me."
The Spartans looked at each other before following Knox. They arrived at what seemed to be a briefing room with a large screen.
"Stay here, I'm taking my C.O to see you," Knox said before heading out of the room.
"What the hell?" C.T muttered, but loud enough for the other Spartans to hear. They looked to see where she's looking at. There one the screen was a map of the world with numerous small screens of news and showing a description of a man in a suit.
"What's all this about?" Kelly wondered.
"Cormack!" Knox called out as he jogged towards him.
Cormack and his team just got back from New Baghdad rescuing both Mitchell and Ilona from Atlas forces.
"Knox" Cormack greeted.
"You better come see this," Knox said.
"What is it? Atlas?"
"It's better you come see this yourself."
"Alright then, lead the way."
Knox led them all to the briefing room. "You would not believe this."
The group we're getting close to the briefing room as they heard voices coming out from the room.
"I mean something like this won't go unnoticed by Cortana."
"We got several possibilities. Cortana's voodoo machine either sent us back to the past or this is some kind of freakish alternate universe thing."
"Like from Star Trek!"
"Exactly Donut, and I bet my pistol we're in the past."
Knox opened the door and what Cormack, Ilona and Mitchell saw shocked them. There standing there in the briefing room were four armored giants. Their armor colors are grey, brown, red and pink. Two of the giants' helmet had the same shape while the other two looked different. The four giants then looked at them.
"What the hell?" Cormack muttered.
"They don't seem like Atlas. I don't know what they are. But we can't leave them there outside of the base," Knox explained before walking towards the four armored giants with Cormack following him behind.
"I'm Major Cormack. I'm the commanding officer of Sentinel. Identify yourselves."
"I'm Spartan Kelly-087 of the UNSC," her accent being British.
"I'm Spartan Connecticut. Call me C.T"
"Call me Sarge. I'm a sergeant to the glorious Spartan Fireteam Reds."
"And I'm one of his subordinates! I'm Spartan Franklin Delano Donut, you can call me Donut!"
"I'm Jack Mitchell."
"The name is Ilona. Please to meet you all."
"Likewise," Kelly replied.
"You don't seem to be of Atlas," Cormack observed. "And what is this 'Spartan'? is it some type of elite strike force?"
"It's an elite team of super-soldiers to push back the alien Covenant from wiping out humanity," Kelly explained.
"I'm sorry, aliens?" Cormack asked.
"I knew it, we're back in the past," Sarge whispered to C.T and Donut as Kelly continued talking with Cormack whilst showing him footage of the battle between the humans and Covenant.
"But we've never heard of something like this Atlas and Sentinel in our history archives," C.T told the red sergeant.
"C.T is right Sarge," Donut agreed. "But then again, we've never bothered checking out the archives."
"Oh, this is the past alright. I can feel it."
C.T sighed. At least she's already used to the Reds and Blues' oddity and crazy personality.
"It's hard to explain," Kelly said.
Cormack quietly sighed as he was deep in thought. "Let's discuss this later then Kelly." He then turned to Ilona and Mitchell. "I'll take you two to your quarters." They began to walk out of the room before Cormack remembered something. "Oh right, you four may need your own quarters."
"Oh, it's fine. We'll just take that room from when we woke up," Kelly said.
Cormack gave it a thought before nodding. "Alright then. Also, I'll be calling the four of you to the training room an hour later."
Kelly nodded. "Affirmative."
The Sentinel left the briefing room leaving the Spartans alone.
"Let's head back," Kelly told them.
"Yes ma'am," they said.
Back at their quarters the Spartans were either cleaning their weapons, training or taking a rest as minutes passed.
"I'll have to admit, this Atlas is quite the handful," Sarge spoke up as he practiced his hand-to-hand combat drills. "But nothing we can't handle."
"We shouldn't underestimate them," C.T advised. "They might have tricks up their sleeves that not even we can expect."
"Don't you worry C.T, they've never seen the likes of us yet," Sarge assured the brown armored Spartan,
There was silence once again before Kelly spoke up.
"First Cortana's machine sent us to wherever the hell we are a now were up against a military corporation bent on world domination? Is this Star Trek or Back to the Future?"
"Feels like Back to the Future ma'am. I just know it," Sarge said.
"I never watched the movie though," C.T admitted.
"Me too!" Donut joins in. "I was about to watch but we have to leave for the mission."
"What?! You mean to tell me you two haven't watched the beautiful classic that is Back to the Future?! Shame on the two of you whippersnapping movie goers. SHAME!" Sarge exclaimed.
C.T sweat dropped.
"Spartans," a voice called out as the super soldiers turned to look behind to see Knox at the entrance.
"You're all called to the training grounds."
"Alright!" Donut said enthusiastically.
"Let's get jiggety with it!" Sarge added.
Cormack was at the training grounds along with other Sentinel soldiers. Knox came in with the four Spartans causing the Sentinel soldiers to look at them in awe, amazement and surprise to see how big the super soldiers are.
"These guys Atlas?"
"Don't know, haven't seen anything like 'em."
"They're huuuuuuge."
"You think they're-"
"Quite!" Cormack ordered. "You four know why you're here?"
"To demonstrate some serious kicking ass and taking names?" Sarge guessed.
Cormack nodded. "Correct. You'll all be demonstrating your skills."
"Perfect," Sarge said.
"Bring on the challenge," Kelly accepted.
"It's tossing time," Donut said.
Cormack looked at Donut with slight confusion but shrugged it off. "The four of you will be demonstrating individually. Who's going first?"
Before the Spartans could discuss who to go first Kelly stepped forward.
"I'll go," she said.
Cormack nodded. "Alright then. The rule is simple. Capture the red flag."
"Understood."
"Of course, expect resistance."
Kelly nodded as she got to the training grounds. She saw the red flag standing quite far from her. There were turrets all around with training dummies holding rifles. There were several barricades or covers to shield the soldiers that are training from the bullets.
"The bullets are rubbers so don't worry."
Kelly nodded.
"Alright, simulation starting in 3, 2, 1!"
The turrets started to open fire as Kelly charged forward dodging every bullet with extreme light fast speed shocking and confusing the Sentinel soldiers that are witnessing such skills. Kelly took down the dummies with her shotgun fast until finally she reached the red flag, pulling it from the ground.
"You had it recorded?" Cormack asked to a soldier.
The soldier nodded. "Sir."
"Good job Kelly, now who's next?"
"Guess I'm next," C.T said as she steps forward.
"Good luck, C.T! You can do it!" Donut said.
"Don't strain yourself," Sarge added.
C.T smile behind her helmet. "Thanks guys."
The rest of the test goes by in a flash. C.T took the flag no problem while destroying some dummies, same goes for Donut as he took the flag took the flag no problem while not engaging any dummies. The last one however, the red armored sergeant, was brutal to the bone as he took down every single turret and dummy before finally taking the flag. It's as if he's relishing ever bit of moment of the destruction.
The Spartans were put through several tests, hand to hand combat, marksman, you name it. Cormack was impressed by these "Spartans", and at the same time this scared him. Especially for the grey and red armored one. The four moved at inhuman speed, Cormack thought he saw blurs. Their strength are as strong as Atlas' heavy Armored Support Transport. Every of them do well in combat but Kelly showed more experience, excelling even more. A certain pink armored Spartan however, whole his combat skill is good but he seems to be a bit more passive. His grenade throwing skills and marksman however was impressive.
Cormack looked through the tape again and again analyzing every skill the Spartans had, he had to slow the recording down so that Cormack could analyze properly. These Spartans can very well aid them in their battle against Atlas. It's a good thing he had a mission for these Spartans because they were going to steal valuable information at Jonathan Iron's private estate after this. But one thing left him a bit unsure was…their size. Their as big as a doorway! He had one final test for them.
"In this final test, your stealth skills will be tested," Cormack announced.
"Oh boy," was all that Sarge said.
"I'm not sure about this," Donut added.
"Relax, I'll hold both your hands," Kelly joked.
The stealth simulation starts as the four Spartans mobilized. Halfway through the mission simulation Donut and Sarge tried their best to be as stealthy as possible while Kelly and C.T we're doing absolutely fine. After the simulation is finished Cormack had a clear idea on who to take with him in their mission to steal info from the private estate.
"So many golden opportunities there and we still can't get a kill count," Sarge said somberly. "At least we get some of them."
"That's the point Sarge, we're supposed to sneak. Our main objective is to stay as stealthy as possible," Donut explained. "We only take down an enemy if it's absolutely necessary."
Sarge grumbled. "Wish I could take 'em all down."
"Still…I don't think I'm good at maneuvering in a stealthy way that much."
"Agreed," Kelly said. "You two better stay behind and let me and C.T handle any stealth missions from now on."
"Yes ma'am," the two said.
"Don't take this the wrong way you two," C.T told the two Reds.
"It's fine C.T, no offense taken," Sarge assured her. "Busting in to a crowded building has always been my style and it feels like my favorite pass time."
"Spartans," Cormack called out causing them to look at him as he walked towards them. "We're going to have a mission to infiltrate Jonathan Iron's private estate. We'll steal any information we can and get out as soon as we can."
"Hopefully your stealth skills haven't gone rusty now," Kelly lightly joked.
"Still strong ma'am," C.T replied with a smile behind her helmet.
"When do we deploy?"
"ETA five more hours. Get some rest Spartans, you'll need it," Cormack said before walking away from them.
Five hours later
Sentinel squads were preparing in hangar for the mission to infiltrate the private estate with everyone bustling about. Both Kelly and C.T prepared themselves with SMGs and Magnums along with suppressors attached to their weapons. Some of the soldiers that hasn't seen the Spartans looked at them in awe as chatters were heard among the soldiers.
"It's good to have you back in the fold," Cormack said to Mitchell. "Wish it were under better circumstances."
"We'll be up against our old teammates. People we trained with. Fought with," Ilona told Cormack.
Cormack turns to her. "I know this is difficult. But I need you to move past that. This…is bigger than any of us."
The three walked towards the stealth squads, everyone now lock and loaded.
"Team we have the green light for operation Lone Wolf," Cormack announced, everyone listened to him intently while Mitchell stands beside Ilona. "Thanks to the intel from Mitchell, we know that Irons will be traveling to his private estate for a high-level meeting. I'll be leading the insertion team and SEAL team will be on standby for exfil. Irons is priority number one. We infiltrate his home and we gather intel on his next move. Let's get it done."
Donut and Sarge walked around the Sentinel base as the red armored Spartan hummed the song "Sweet Home Alabama".
"Gotta say this base looks nice," Donut commented.
"I've seen better," Sarge said.
"Spartans," a voice called out.
The two Reds looked behind them to see a Sentinel soldier.
"Cormack told me you might need a tour around the base."
"Aww, how nice of him," Donut complimented. "Yeah, we need to know our way around."
"Sure, follow me."
"Knox how's it going?" Cormack asked.
"Almost there done patching it to the drone network," Knox replied.
The stealth squads finally arrived in Bangkok, Thailand as Mitchell, Ilona, Cormack and Knox were inside a cave with a waterfall just outside the cave.
"Kelly, C.T you two are to disable the communications tower not far from here and once that's done you two are to disable the alarms in the private estate," Cormack explained in the comms.
"Affirmative Cormack," Kelly answered.
"I'm in. The drone patrols are switching out, clock is ticking," Cormack said.
"Sir," Mitchell spoke up.
"Yes?"
"I kind of have my doubts with these 'Spartans' sir."
"I know we've just met them, but we need the manpower to stop Irons now that he's taken almost the entirety of this world," Cormack explained. "Kingpin, we are at the front door."
"Copy, you're clear to knock," Kingpin replied.
"Ready hooks," Cormack told them as they readied their grappling hooks. "Kelly, C.T green light."
"Affirmative Cormack," C.T answered.
"Kingpin, we are proceeding to checkpoint 1."
The Sentinel soldiers fired their grappling hooks on to another ledge before hooking from the ledge as they arrived just outside of Iron's estate.
"Iron's personal estate," Cormack said.
"So, this is what thousands of dead bodies will buy you," Ilona solemnly said.
"I'll track down Irons. We need to be there when he meets with his contacts. Ilona, on me. Let's move."
The two fired their hooks to the estate as they ran deeper into the estate.
"Mitchell, I'm activating your AR optics," Knox said. "Target tracking coming online…alright, now tag on asset."
Mitchell aimed his gun at the estate spotting three guards.
"Optics checks out. Syncing your HUD to the drone network. We can track anybody within five hundred meters of the estate."
"Got it," Mitchell replied.
"Alright, Mitchell, get to the security center and patch me into their system."
"Wish me luck."
Mitchell fired his hook at the ledge stepping on to the estate.
Kelly and C.T were hiding in a bush. After running along the road, they arrived at a communications tower guarded by guards. Kelly turns to C.T.
"We'll take them all out in one go," Kelly said.
C.T nodded. For the next few seconds, all the guards were taken down in a flash before the guards even react in the slightest. The two looked around them, double checking if any enemies may be around them.
"Clear," Kelly said.
"Clear," C.T said.
"C.T, the EMP."
The brown armored Spartan tossed her the EMP that was given to them by Knox. Kelly caught it as she planted the EMP on the communications tower. She pressed a button on the EMP device, surges of electricity began to overwhelm the tower before the tower shut down.
"Knox, communication tower down," Kelly reported through the comms.
"Understood Kelly."
"We're going to head to the estate to assist Cormack and the others," C.T said.
"Good to hear. Good luck, Knox out."
The two looked at each other.
"Ready for another run?" Kelly asked.
"Lead the way ma'am."
Mitchell was on top of a security shed where they store hundreds of drones/ a drone cam out of the shed to begin a patrol.
"Drone, don't engage," Knox said as it went away. "Mitchell ready the micro-EMP."
Mitchell pulled out a round object as he planted on top of the shed. The EMP gave of an energy surge disabling all drones momentarily. Mitchell pried open the hatch before getting inside.
"Security system will only be down a couple minutes. Don't waste time down there. Time to see if the print we got was worth the price. I'm uploading prints to your suit."
"Roger," Mitchell replied.
Mitchell's Exo gloves began beeping as he arrived at the security console. He out his hand on the console. Knox's personal information popped up on the console along with an 'access granted' word on top, indicating that Knox was in.
"I'm in. ok I got full control of their cameras. Good job."
The screen then showed several security cams of the estate.
Mitchell heard beeping as he looked behind him to see the drones are beginning to come bac online.
"Back to the roof. Hurry up Mitchell."
Mitchell fires his hook at the opened roof as he quickly got out of there.
"Cormack, we're all patched in," Knox said.
"Nice work," Knox said through the comms. "Mitchell, regroup with me at Iron's office. Ilona, you've got overwatch."
"Copy," Ilona replied. "Mitchell, proceed to the front yard, stick to the shadows."
Mitchell sneaked around the dark finding his way to the office.
"Alright Mitchell, it's not going to be easy getting across, lots of options. I'll cover you the best I can," Ilona explained.
"Everyone we've got good news," Kelly's voice came in the comms. "All alarms are disabled."
"That quick?" Mitchell said in disbelief.
"I guess you could say we Spartans work in mysterious ways."
"I'll tell you everything when we get back," Cormack said. "Stick to the shadows."
"Better hurry though, the guards are gonna get suspicious," C.T informed.
"Right CT. Mitchell status," Cormack said.
"Almost close, the guards and drones aren't making this easy," Mitchell said.
"Just get it done Mitchell."
"Roger that."
After a lot of sneaking in the dark Mitchell finally arrived outside of the office but a guard is outside guarding. Mitchell used his grapple hook to grapple to the ledge of the fountain but not before accidentally triggering a car alarm.
"Sh*t," Mitchell cursed.
"Mitchell, you tripped a car alarm," Ilona said.
Mitchell hid in the fountain's water as a drone came to investigate and was on top of him. after the drone turned away to patrol somewhere else Mitchell quickly used his grapple hook to the office building, finally safely arriving at the office's balcony.
"I'm here," Mitchell said.
"Good job Mitchell," Ilona said.
Mitchell went into the office before seeing a door burst open to see a guard stumbling while Cormack walked in. Cormack activated his grappling hook at the guard. He pulled the guard with his hook and punched the light out of the guard.
"Perfect run out there Mitchell," Cormack complimented. "Knox, we're inside. Have you found Irons?"
Cormack and Mitchell walked towards the office desk.
"Negative," Knox replied.
"Noted," Cormack answered. "There's his desk. Get started."
"Better hurry you two, the guards are getting suspicious," Ilona warned them.
"We'll be gone before they know it," Mitchell assured Ilona before placing a hard drive on the desk. The screen of the desk lit up showing the Atlas logo.
"We're in. Let's see what we can find," Cormack said.
"So, you strap these Exo suits around you," Donut concluded.
"Yeah," a Sentinel soldier said.
"Wonder why the UNSC hasn't taken idea from these suits. Marines and soldiers are gonna have a field day with this," Sarge said.
"This would be helpful though," Donut added. "And they're almost a bit similar to Mjolnir armor Sarge."
"You mean something as lanky as this?" Sarge questioned, wondering how something as lanky as these Exo suits can be compared to their glorious Mjolnir armor.
"Well, think about it Sarge. Both the Mjolnir armor and these Exo suits provide boost jumps, enhanced punches, you name it."
Sarge piece the two together. "Hmm, I guess you're right."
"Who made these things?" Donut asked the soldier.
"Atlas made and produced those suits. These things are the next generation of military equipment. Every military equipment. Every military in the world are using them."
Suddenly, something caught Donut's eye as he looked to his right to see grenades on the table.
"Ooh grenades!" Donut said excitedly. The 'lightish red' Spartan examined the grenades as he looked at them with interest. "Can I try these?"
"Not until Cormack comes back."
"Hmm, I could try whipping these two exo suits up and make a walking tin can if you ask me," Sarge said.
"What?" the soldier said.
"He's gonna make another robot," Donut told the soldier.
"He can do that?"
"He's made it a lot of times. But he hasn't made one in a while. He's made a lot of robots mainly for rivalry reasons. Most of those bots failed to work."
"Rivalry?" the soldier asked.
"Yeah. Sarge and Church had a rivalry waaaay back when and it was craaaazy. But their rivalry kinda died down over the years."
"Yup," Sarge said. "One hell of a nostalgic glorious past."
"By the way, we didn't catch your name," Donut said.
"Charles, Charles Frater."
"Franklin Delano Donut, but you can call me Donut. Please to meet you, Charles."
"Likewise, Donut."
"Call me Sarge."
The soldier known as Charles looked at Sarge confusingly.
"Yeah, we usually call him Sarge," Donut said.
"What's his real name?" Charles asked. "If you don't mind me asking."
"Uhm, it's…complicated."
After getting some of the information from the desk and getting locked out of it, Mitchell and Cormack quickly made their way to the convoy. After spying on a mysterious container created by a certain doctor who Mitchell and Ilona though were dead, they went after the mysterious container after Knox told them they were going to be loaded on a plane.
"Have the exfil team ready at rally point Delta," Cormack instructed to Knox.
Cormack and Mitchell ran up the stairs to the roof where the sound of a plane taking off was heard. The two finally reached the roof where they saw enemies on the roof.
"Drop 'em quick," Cormack said but before both him and Mitchell had a chance to shoot, the enemies was shot dead. The two looked to see Kelly and C.T landing beside them.
"Go! Get to the plane!" C.T shouted. "We'll handle them!"
Wasting no time Mitchel and Cormack ran to the platform where the plane is. The killed three guards as they make their way to the platform. The two fired their grappling hooks at the plane just in time.
"Tracker!" Cormack said as he gave the tracker to Mitchell. He then planned the tracker on the plane.
"Ready Mitchell?!" Cormack said.
"Ready!"
"Detach!"
The two detached from the lane as they fell to the river below.
Few hours had passed as Donut, Sarge and Charles were at the cafeteria.
"I wonder when they're coming back," Donut said as he ate his M.R.E that the Spartans stored for their battle against Cortana whenever they're hungry.
"Just me being here at the cafeteria makes me feel like Grif already," Sarge slightly grumbled.
"Hmm, I wonder what the other Spartans are doing now?" Donut said. "I hope we can find them all."
"Don't worry, Donut. They're Spartans. Wherever they are in this world or whatever baloney they're in, they'll always be kicking some villain's ass."
"Yeah."
"Wait, if there's more of you out there, how'd you not win the war already?" Charles asked.
"Well, you see Private Charles" Sarge began, his tone now serious. "…the Human-Covenant war was…not unlike the world has seen before. Like what the doctor said. The enemies are ruthless, efficient. They're weapons were nothing we've seen before. Their technologies are much more advanced than ours making us losing the battle against the Covenant. Then comes the Spartans, and we basically tip the balance against those alien bastar*s. But it still wasn't enough as little by little Spartans were killed. Just goes to show you how horrifying the Human-Covenant war can be. But they still weren't fast enough. Thanks to Six we found the that damn ring world Halo. Found out all its juicy secret and destroyed their resolve to smithereens."
"Damn…" was all Charles could say.
"Hey!" a soldier called out. Donut, Sarge and Charles looked at the soldier at the cafeteria entrance. "Cormack and the others are back."
"That was a solid work everyone. Now we'll see where the hell that plane is going," Cormack said. "For now, get some rest. I'll call you all when needed."
"Petty Officer Kelly! C.T!" Donut's voice called out. Kelly and C.T looked to see Donut walking towards them. "How's the mission?"
"Not too bad. Could've gone worst," Kelly commented.
"Did the estate blow up into thousands of beautiful smithereens?"
"Uhm, there were civilians there Sarge," C.T pointed out.
"Unless you want innocent blood on your hands, then that'll be comforting now would it," Kelly said.
"Oh," was all Sarge said.
"Good news though, you two will be riding along with us in the next mission," Kelly told them.
"You can count on us ma'am!" Donut said.
"Hoorah!" Sarge cheered.
Ilona stared at the moonlit sky as she sighed. After all this time she has been serving a company full of lies.
"Hey," Mitchell's voice came behind her. She looked behind her as Mitchell stood beside her. "Something on you mind? Is it Atlas?"
"Yeah…" she trailed off.
The two stared at the night sky in silence.
"I lost my when I was in the Spetsnaz. All of them were good friends of mine. I led in this one mission to investigate a distress signal but turns out everything was an ambush. Three of my squad mates covered me as I pulled my injured best friend Anya out of there. Three of my squad mates died defending us. I didn't know that so I went in after hoping they could still be alive, Anton went with me. Turns out I shouldn't have come back. The enemy was waiting for us. I tried escaping again but Anton sacrificed himself to save me and I got out of that building. Only me and Anya made it back. I thought we could survive the ambush. We were the best of the best…I quit the Spetsnaz and…Atlas offered me a chance, like you did."
"Ilona…I-"
Ilona put her hand on Mitchell's arm. "It's alright. You lost a friend and I lost my team…guess we're not so different."
Before Mitchell could reply Knox's voice called out.
"Hey, guys we're…" Knox stopped himself as he stared at the two. "Uhm…am I interrupting something?"
"Maybe," Ilona joked.
"Cormack's calling us?" Mitchell assumed.
"Yeah. See you there."
Knox left them as Ilona and Mitchell looked at each other.
"Come on, let's go," she said.
Minutes later everyone gathered in the meeting room.
"Cormack," Knox called out to him.
"Talk to me."
"The cargo, it's heading towards the Antarctica."
"Get me Kingpin."
Knox starts typing on the console while Sarge looked in confusion.
"Why would you want to call a leader of a crime Syndicate?"
"Don't worry it's not like that," Cormack said. "It's his codename."
Cormack began talking to Kingpin as everyone looked at the screen as the plane on the screen is heading towards the Antarctic. They'll be ready for whatever danger is thrown at them. Always.
