This is one of those stories that I pretty much came up with right after I thought about this prompt for a little bit. I really think that this would be how these two would get engaged.

The legalities: I do not own any of the Expendables franchise (characters, places, and objects especially) and this is mostly au.Rated M just to be on the safe side.

Also, please don't be afraid to write reviews. I would love to hear from you all!

Hope you enjoy!

Prompt: "How many people did you tell?"

"Basically everyone."

Jacoba still didn't fully believe it. She had thought that they would probably never get married, what with her track record on "engagements" (and she used that term loosely) and their job. Yet Gunnar had surprised her on their anniversary last night after dinner, getting down on one knee in the middle of their living room and asking her to take the next step. She was so flabbergasted that she had just stood stock still for a few minutes.

He knew what she thought about marriage. She'd always felt that, if it was meant to be, they wouldn't need a piece of paper to dictate their lover. But this, this was different. It didn't feel forced, with her birth family surrounding them, pressuring her to accept in the middle of a crowded fancy , it was just the two of them, well and the cat (can't forget Stig), in their living room, surrounded by pictures and weapons and things that were just them. There was only one thing that she could do or say.

She said yes.

Bringing herself back to the present, Jacoba smiled as she looked down at the ring on her left hand once more. Shaking her head slightly, she turned back to the stack of papers on her desk in the Tattoo Shop's backroom and sighed. Yet, as she reached for it, she heard what sounded like a herd of buffalo coming towards her desk. Turning towards the door as the noise suddenly stopped, Jacoba saw Gunnar framed by the door and the heads of most of the rest of the team. She shook her head again before looking at her fiancé.

"Exactly how many people did you tell, big guy?"

Gunnar chuckled and shrugged slightly. "Basically everyone." At her confused look, he smirked. "I only told the team. You have to tell Lacey, Trench, and Bonaparte."

Nodding acceptance, she stood and walked around her desk before leaning on it and smirking. "Alright, who wants to see it?"

As Gunnar pulled her to his side and the team gathered around, Jacoba smiled again. She was very glad that she had now found her family. Because that was what they were. A family.
