Quinn smiled handing Santana's mom Ixchel, now calling herself Maribel to keep up with the times, a bottle of water, Santana had asked her mom over to talk to her in person, nerves had sent her to the bathroom to throw up. "Did someone poison her?"
"No." Quinn promised. "She's just really nervous."
"So I don't have to seek out vengeance against some jealous god or goddess?"
"No, nothing like that." Quinn sat down not wanting to leave the older goddess alone to worry she explained. "She's just afraid what she's about to say might upset you."
"Oh gods, she's not following those aunts of yours is she? Athena and Artemis? I want grandchildren Quinn, someone to teach the ways of our people, my hot chocolate recipe...I need grandchildren Quinn." Maribel took Quinn's hand promising. "I can handle anything but that."
"No, no" Quinn chuckled shaking her head promising "it's not that."
"If she says I don't get grandchildren I will not be happy." Maribel pointed warningly at Quinn.
"Is that all I'm good for?" Santana chuckled, she was still nervous and obviously pale from throwing up. Maribel stood up taking both of her daughter's hands in hers guiding her to the couch.
"I want you to know the joys of raising a child." Maribel gave her a mischievous smile causing Santana to eye her saying.
"You said I was a pain in the ass." Santana said wryly.
"You were, still are." Maribel joked before seriously asking "Are you really so scared to tell me something it's making you sick?"
Santana nodded, inhaling she looked down at their clasped hands "I met my soul mate."
"Oh that's wonderful!" Maribel pulled her into a hug but leaned back when Santana didn't return it "Mija?"
"It's...a gi... Mami I'm gay, I like girls and my soul mate is a girl."
Maribel sat quiet for a moment glancing at Quinn who was nervously wringing her hands in her lap, clearing her throat Maribel asked in a rather regal tone "I thought we were going to talk about something I did not know?" Santana slowly looked up at her mother who gave her a reassuring smile, touching Santana's cheek Maribel told her "You're not as subtle with the leering as you think you are, you're as bad as your father."
"I've said that." Quinn nodded.
"Sunglasses were the best thing that happened for the two of you." Maribel chuckled pulling Santana back into her arms, kissing Santana's temple she asked "Mija, I do not care who you love as long as you are happy. Does your father know?"
"Yes, it slipped out." Santana sniffed keeping her head buried in her mom's shoulder.
"He's fine." Quinn assured Maribel.
"He's a dork." Santana mumbled.
"He did try to embarrass her at dinner." Quinn explained the whole scene causing Maribel to laugh, giving a chuckle Quinn ending her summary of the last couple of days with "They have a date tonight."
"Do not take her to Breadstix..." Maribel shook her head.
"Brittany asked her out first." Quinn said amusedily.
"Oh," Maribel tucked her fingers under Santana's chin lifting her face "she really does have you off balance." Santana nodded. "So that's her name? Brittany?"
"Yes." Santana exhaled "She's Terpsichore's daughter."
"Oh." Maribel frowned "Do I need to talk to her mother?" Maribel knew of the bad blood between Ares and Terpsichore, mostly Terpsichore hatred for Ares as he'd impregnated her sister.
"No." Santana cleared her throat sitting up "Brittany told her mom not to be mean to me and Quinn threatened her." Quinn picked at her dress trying to act innocent "Matt said Quinn promised if I was hurt she'd take Terpsichore out."
Reaching out Maribel cupped Quinn face "I am so glad you have each other, but you girls need to learn violence isn't always the appropriate response."
"She wasn't going to give Santana a chance because she hates dad." Quinn frowned.
"I know." Maribel nodded "But threatening her just cemented the Ares bloodline as being violent."
"We're all violent and petty and jealous. Her father Zeus is just as violent, he threw Uncle Hephaestus off Olympus because he got between him and Hera during a fight." Quinn muttered. "She has no room to judge any of us when her father is just as bad."
"I know, I've heard the stories." Maribel promised. "Some of mine are just as violent, you know this." Quinn frowned nodding, she knew all too well, reaching out Quinn brushed her hand over Santana's hair.
"I've always be grateful your mother never hated me."
"She knows dad's..."
"A hoe?" Santana suggested, Quinn nodded.
"She's just as bad," Quinn shrugged "I mean she was married to Uncle Hephaestus, yet here I am a daughter of Ares." Quinn gestured to herself.
"Yes the old gods were rather...promiscuous."
"Oversexed." Santana rolled her eyes.
"And for them it is normal." Maribel nodded "but as they all tend to have jealousy issues," Maribel agreed with Quinn "I wasn't quite sure what your mother was going to do when she found out about Santana. I was glad she chose to be my friend."
Quinn admitted "She did say you two need to get together to have a spa day."
"Well you give me her phone number and Santana take this, it's your cousin's restaurant authentic cuisine." Maribel handed Santana a business card, Santana eyed it warily until she read that it was Greek cuisine, and Quinn her phone, their mom's usually talked through them with the occasional 'say to..' but neither had each others actual phone number. "I'll let you get ready for your date," kissing Santana's cheek she stood, kissing the top of Quinn's head she took her phone adding with a glance at Santana "and when you are ready I would like to meet the young lady and future mother to my grandchildren."
Santana blinked at the spot her mother had just been standing. "I'm calling Matt to let him know it's all okay, go take your shower and brush your teeth again." Quinn added giving Santana a push in the direction of the bathroom, Santana glared but did as Quinn said. "She's got it bad, you got it bad, I'm sure they'll be necking."
"It's called making out Fabray, update your lingo." Santana gave an amused snort.
"Whatever you call it, I'm sure the two of you will be kissing and getting handsy." Quinn rolled her eyes.
Her phone buzzing Santana glanced at it smiling, it was Brittany, poking her phone Santana read the text Brittany to Santana: Wear pants
Confused and tilting her head Santana wrote back Santana to Brittany: Pants?
Brittany to Santana: It's a surprise
Putting her phone on top of her dresser Santana dug through her center top drawer Santana to Brittany: Are jeans okay
Brittany to Santana: Yes
Santana to Brittany: Okay
Brittany to Santana: Do you have a leather jacket?
Santana to Brittany: Several
Brittany to Santana: I'll be there at 6
Santana to Brittany: I'll be ready
"I called your phone so you wouldn't have to come over." Quinn laughed grabbing a pack of bacon out of the fridge.
"I'm excited." Matt admitted "Santana's never dated."
"I know, that's why she's so nervous." Quinn said as she continued around the kitchen grabbing everything she would need for a BLT.
"See moral support." Matt assured Quinn. "Just like when you decide to take your leap."
"That won't be happening for quite some time, mine needs to grow up, he's too much like the old gods." Quinn continued making her dinner, she knew she could just snap her fingers and 'poof' the perfect BLT but she and Santana and the younger gods they hung out with preferred to live a little more human. "Santana's mom wants me to apologize."
"Ooh." Matt cringed knowing Quinn didn't want to.
"I will." Quinn muttered "Just not right now, I'll even give her a peace offering."
"So where is Santana?"
"Shower and getting dressed." Quinn said putting her bread in the toaster "Want one?"
"Always." Matt chuckled.
Putting two more slices of bread into the toaster Quinn turned on the stove, grabbing the pack of bacon Quinn closed her eyes whispering "Thank you." Matt grinned "I know, I'm as bad as Santana with her coffee and chocolate."
