"Good morning ladies." Mercedes smiled as the girls walked into the bar, it had changed from nightclub to restaurant with tables in place of the open dance floor, the half walls and high tables safely tucked away in a storage closet next to the stage.
"Neat trick." Quinn yawned joining Mercedes at the large table.
"Coffee." Santana mumbled dropping into her seat next to her sister, the Latina hadn't even bothered to change out of her pajamas, as soon as Brittany took the spot on the other side of Santana she dropped her head on Brittany's shoulder.
"We can run on barely any sleep, why the hell are you so tired?" Mercedes asked pouring four cups of coffee, Brittany had already pushed the coffee cup away from herself.
"We were playing twenty questions about New Orleans." Brittany chirped.
"Is that what we call it?" Mercedes teased laughing, Santana scowled.
"And what is so funny ladies?" Millie Rose asked stepping out from the kitchen with Marley, Unique and the bartender Roderick carrying plates of food.
Jumping to her feet, her chair falling to the floor Santana rushed to take the tray from the large woman's hands, giving Millie's cheek a quick kiss Santana glared at Mercedes before telling the human "Mercedes is picking on me."
"Narc." Mercedes coughed, getting a disapproving look from Millie she muttered "Sorry Santana."
Being the mature goddess that she was Santana stuck her tongue out while she sat the plate full of scrambled eggs on the table. Brittany smiled standing up, something told her to stand up when Millie stepped closer. Picking her chair back up Santana took Brittany's hand tugging her over to Millie while the others put the trays on the table "Brittany this is Mama Rose, best cook in all New Orleans." Millie scoffed blushing "Mama Rose this is my girlfriend Brittany."
"So this is Brittany," Millie nodded giving Brittany a quick once over "nice to meet you, Mercedes mentioned you when she came back from checking on Quinn.", Quinn shifted in her seat, Brittany bounced to the older woman giving her a hug, Marley chuckled when her mom caught the blonde.
"It's so great to meet you, Santana talks about you and your food all the time." Brittany said while still hugging the woman. Quinn's eyebrow quirked, she couldn't believe her sister spoke of food to her soul mate, she'd assumed their talks had been more personal. "You should meet my friend Pierce, he cooks too, you guys should totally exchange recipes."
"I'm always interested in learning new recipes." Millie nodded.
"Yay." Brittany bounced back to Santana's side grabbing the Latina around the waist.
Once they were all seated at the table Quinn whispered "You talk to Brittany about Millie's cooking?"
Quietly answering "Yes." Santana asked "Why wouldn't I?"
"I mean, aren't you two supposed to be getting to know one another?" Quinn whispered again.
"We play twenty questions for that." Brittany chirped not as quiet as them, Quinn just shook head and chuckled when Santana smirked at her. "Like have you always been blonde?"
Quinn pursed her lips, she knew Santana had said something "No." Quinn answered before taking a drink of her coffee.
"She's been brunette." Mercedes offered.
"Pink was my favorite." Santana grinned getting kicked under the table.
"Santana was blonde." Quinn glared at her sister, Santana rolled her eyes admitting.
"I got bored."
"That's when I met them," Marley spoke up as the plates began being passed around the table. "Santana was blonde and Quinn was brunette."
"It was shortly after that we changed back to our natural colors." Quinn admitted "I blame New York."
"Me too." Santana agreed. Once the food had been served they took a moment of silence in case the mortals wanted to pray, and Santana of course took the time for her usual thanks for coffee. It was Millie that broke the silence.
"What are your plans for the day, sight seeing, food?" Millie asked knowingly.
Quinn chuckled, Santana smirked but sipped her coffee closing her eyes. "Spa day." Quinn responded sneaking more bacon onto her plate. "Come with."
"Oh no, I need to be here preparing for lunch and the meals to be delivered." Millie shook her head. "You girls enjoy your day, you don't need an old lady following you around."
Santana smirked shaking her head. "One of these days you're coming with us." Millie laughed.
"Losing battle ladies, you know the only day she took off." Mercedes chuckled.
"A certain someone's graduation." Santana glanced at Marley who blushed.
"Fine." Quinn muttered "Marley, Unique clear your day."
"Ah...umm." Marley glanced at her mother, she usually helped her.
"Have fun." Millie smiled.
"But who's going to help you here?" Marley asked not wanting to leave her mom doing all the work.
"I just so happen to know a few people that will help with whatever your Mama needs." Mercedes said knowing that Marley was looking for an escape.
"I'll stay." Roderick finally spoke up, he was younger than the girls, he'd just turned 21 not that they were much older.
"I'm sure the twins and Jane will help," they'd all been younger classmates of Marley and Unique's, "they're dying to get their feet in the door here."
"See all set, you're coming with us." Santana smirked,
Unique leaned her head close to Marley's whispering "You weren't kidding, they are a whirlwind." Marley nodded.
"So Roderick," Quinn smiled at the only boy at the table "Mercedes says you're her daytime singer, what's your specialty?"
"Oh, uh... Rhythm and Blues." he answered playing with the large headphones around his neck.
"Nice." Quinn nodded. "I'm more into the Rat Pack but you can't go wrong with Rhythm and Blues."
"No you can not." Mercedes chuckled.
"Santana never said how you met." Brittany looked at Mercedes.
"Mardi Gras...the music..." Mercedes had fallen in love with the music the moment she'd heard it.
"The food was divine." Quinn added getting a nod from Santana who was too busy with her plate to add anything to the conversation.
"It was the reason I decided to settle here, there's no place else on earth like it." Mercedes smiled thinking back to Santana bumping into her because she'd been distracted by the smell of food, it had been one of the first Mardi Gras celebrations so all three goddesses had decided to check it out.
Millie smiled as the Latina continued smiling and silently dancing in her seat as she ate her breakfast, it didn't matter that it was simple scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage with a ton of toast. The food never had to be elaborate for the girls it just had to taste good.
Tina wanted to hear more of the story, she knew the way the trio acted they weren't new friends, but the way they were speaking not everyone at the table knew who or what they really were. "Music and food seems to be a theme." Tina grinned "Brittany first saw Santana at a club."
"Then their dance studio." Quinn added.
"Breadstix," Santana finally spoke pointing her fork at Quinn she added "and I still think that was a set up."
Quinn grinned admitting "That was actually a really nice coincidence, we were supposed to 'accidently' meet at the club after dinner, Mike had agreed to dance with Tina to keep Brittany free for you."
"That little shit." Santana chuckled.
