It was a long day and all Quinn wanted to do was curl up and watch a movie with her baby and her boyfriend. she wasn't surprised by the manny meeting her at the door with her sleeping infant in his arms. "Hey." leaning down Santiago Lopez kissed Quinn on the cheek before transferring the baby to her arms. "I have her jammies and towel by her bath, don't forget we're going to the park tomorrow to feed the ducks."
"I'll leave the stroller in the closet." Quinn nodded. When her mother tried to hire her old nanny Judy had discovered the woman had retired to spend time with her grandchildren. After a few temporary nannies Quinn settled on Santiago, the choice was easy, she knew and trusted him, he was after all Santana's cousin and a friend. Quinn was sure between Mike and Santiago, Santana of course, that Beth would be Trilingual and together with the twins would be plotting things in multiple languages so that no one would understand them.
"See you tomorrow." grabbing his jacket from the closet Santiago gave Mike's shoulder a pat, like the others when he found out that Mike was dating Quinn he gave him the 'shovel' talk, he didn't take it personal, he'd overheard Brittany telling Quinn to not break his heart.
"Mom's bringing home dinner, Breadstix." Quinn said knowing Santiago might stay, he was as bad as Santana when it came to Breadstix except for him it was about the pasta. Quickly hanging his coat back up Santiago grinned, getting a laugh from Quinn and Mike.
"So I will see you tomorrow. leaning down Mike gave Quinn a chaste kiss giving Beth a light kiss on the top of her head Mike let Quinn know. "I'll pick you up."
"Okay." Quinn nodded.
Closing the door behind Mike and giving it a few seconds Santiago nodded approvingly, "You know he has everyone's approval, Abuela of course adores him but even your mom says he's a nice respectful boy."
"I'm sorry, my mom?" Quinn could understand him talking to Abuela but her mother? No.
"We talk about you and Beth all the time, I fill her in on Brittany and Santana." Santiago said like it was not a big deal.
"Oh, okay." giving her squirming baby a pat on the back Quinn headed for the living room. She still found it odd but her mother wouldn't really talk to her about her friends and never pushed past what Quinn would tell her, Quinn realized it was a hold out from Judy's days with Russell. She would have to make the effort on her side to show Judy it was okay to talk to her.
Burt smiled at the group of boys in his garage, he loved his son even if he didn't always understand him, but these boys he understood. "Everything's looking good boys, which one are you working on first?"
"The push one." Puck held up the bolted frame.
"I'm still working on upper body for the other one, different muscle groups." Artie flexed for Burt who gave a chuckle and nod.
"Sam's mom is working on the seat and back." Kurt piped up from the table with the plans.
"She used to work at an upholstery shop." Sam gave a shrug, he didn't exactly know what that meant but he'd asked and she said it was a simple job because of where she used to work.
"You boys are making quick work of it." Burt nodded approvingly.
"Mostly Puck." Finn shook his head, he'd been busy with Santana and the babies. He also knew the other boys were there for moral support and the occasional tool run for Puck.
"It's not about who's done the most, everyone of you has done what you can." Burt corrected pointing out "Plus you've modified it to carry weights." Burt pointed at the printed out plans with notes attached.
"That's cause Artie's tiny." Finn said bringing his hands close together in front of him.
Artie shrugged he couldn't deny his size, the boys constantly forgot he was a full year younger than them. His phone going off Artie sighed, any time he left the house with Puck his mom would text him to make sure he was alright. "Alright selfie time, Mr. Hudson would you like to get in on this, it's my mom." he didn't have to check, he would read it when he sent his reply in a moment.
"Just checking on ya, parents worry." Burt said joining the boys, Artie didn't have to explain why his mom was worried, Burt knew it was Puck's past.
"Can you send it to me, that way Santana can see?" Finn asked as they posed with Artie.
After taking the picture with the group in it, Artie spun his chair, "You and Puck hold up the pieces you're working on." I'll send that to Santana and Rachel." and his mother.
"And Tina." Puck said holding up the side he was bolting together "This was her idea" Puck wasn't going to take credit, Tina had suggested it. Holding up his half Finn smiled, Artie did as asked by sending both photos to the Glee group text.
Mom to Artie: How are you, is everything okay?
Artie to Mom: Fine, they're almost done with the first chair
Artie quickly read and responded to his mother's text sending both photos to her as well before turning to the Glee club.
Artie to Glee: Check out tonight's chair crew, these guys are awesome
Adding all the photos and sending he just left the phone on his lap while he wheeled back out of the way, he knew there would be responses. So when they started coming in he read them.
Quinn to Glee: Looks great, Santi says great job guys
Brittany to Glee: It's so pretty
Rachel to Glee: You guys are so talented
Laughing when their phones went off the boys in attendance minus Puck and Finn began reading the responses.
Blaine to Glee: That's fantastic
Joe to Glee: You use your God given talent wisely
Finn couldn't help but chuckle, he wasn't religious and Kurt was an atheist, but they let Joe say his piece, Kurt just rolled his eyes when Artie read the message. Puck had never thought his talents God given, he just knew he was good with his hands. Looking down at his hands he gave a smirk before returning to the work before him.
Tina to Glee: Can't wait to see it in action
They knew Mike and Mercedes wouldn't respond until after dinner, no phones at the dinner table.
Unique to Glee: Something that beautiful needs a beautiful paint job
Marley to Glee: That's incredible
"See boys it's not just me and Carole saying good things, it's true." Burt chuckled, "I'll bring you sandwiches and chips if you want to work through dinner."
"I gotta go." Sam admitted. "See y'all tomorrow."
The group all told him good-bye before returning to what they were doing.
Glancing at her sleeping babies Santana responded to the two different text she'd received Baby Daddy to Santana: How are you and the babies?
Santana squinted at her phone, she was so tired she couldn't remember if she'd changed his name or if Quinn did, taking a picture Santana sent it with the text Santana to Baby Daddy: They're sleeping and I'm heading for a quick shower before dinner
Artie to Glee: Check out tonight's chair crew, these guys are awesome
Seeing the photos Santana nodded impressed with the amount of work Puck had done on his own just in a few days
Santana to Glee: Damn
Santana to Coach B: Here's how your boys are spending their time
Sending the pictures she took of the boys feeding the babies and the ones Artie sent Santana headed to her shower, Abuela was still with her but she left the door open and baby monitor on to hear the girls as well. She always tried to be self sufficient, she wasn't going to change now.
