"Hey, Felicia," Ananias said as he approached the maid, who currently had a long and distant look on her face as she looked up at the night sky from where she sat.

"O-Oh," Felicia said sadly, "hey there, Ananias." She mustered up her best, lighthearted smile. "How was your day today?"

Ananias nonchalantly shrugged. "Eh, same old same old." He took a seat next to her. "How about you? Did all of that training do you any good, or what?"

Felicia shook her head. "No. Thanks to the training, everything I did today went perfectly. I didn't break any plates, I didn't trip and drop anything. I didn't make a mess of things. Today, I really did become the maid I had always wanted to be."

Ananias frowned and looked at her thoughtfully. "You don't sound like you did though. What's wrong? Did something happen?"

Felicia nodded. "Well, yeah. A lot of things happened, actually."

Ananias cocked an eyebrow at this. "Like what? You said that everything you did today went off without a hitch."

"I did."

"Then what -"

"Well," Felicia said, awkwardly looking down at her lap as she grimaced at the memory, "it turns out that I was so well known for being such a clumsy maid that, I, well, became a bit of a distraction."

Ananias looked at her incredulously. "Um… what?"

"I know, right?" Felicia cried. "I couldn't believe it either, but the further down the day went, the more it just seemed to be so obvious!"

"I…," Ananias shook his head and pinched the bridge of his nose wearily, "I'm sorry, but I still don't really understand. How exactly were you a distraction?"

"O-Oh, sorry!" Felicia said with a blush. "I guess I didn't really explain it to you all that well, did I?"

Ananias shook his head. "No, not really," he replied dully.

"W-Well, you see," Felicia explained, "I've always been known as a clumsy maid, right?"

Ananias nodded. "Right."

"So today, when I didn't do a single clumsy mistake at all, it actually got people all of the other maids, butlers, and staff to be clumsy themselves!"

Ananias' jaw dropped slightly in mild disbelief before trying to comprehend what was being told to him, shaking his head, and asking, "W-What?"

"There's like, a whole clumsiness spectrum, and when I stopped being the clumsy one, everyone else became the clumsy one!"

"A-Are you sure that everyone else just didn't have the flu or something?"

Felicia shook her head. "Yes! I even went up and asked everyone themselves! They said that they were so surprised to see me doing well at my job for once that they actually started making a bunch of mistakes themselves!"

"S-So, wait a minute," Ananias said, pressing his palms against the sides of his head and pulling back on them slightly, "you're telling me that, because they couldn't comprehend how you suddenly got so good at doing your job, it caused them to be worse at their jobs in the process?"

Felicia nodded. "I know, right? It was so crazy! Everyone was dropping everything left and right, food kept being cooked the wrong way, even bigger messes than I could've ever done by myself were made, it was so weird!"

"And this went on for the entire day?"

"Yes! Can you believe that?"

"N-Not really, but you're not exactly known for being a liar, so…."

"And you know what? It actually got WORSE as the day went on!"

Ananias' eyes widened in surprise and disbelief. "That… that really doesn't seem possible."

"But it did!" Felicia insisted.

Ananias shook his head incredulously. "How?"

"Well, you know how everyone on staff was making so many mistakes, right?"

Ananias nodded. "Y-Yeah?"

"Well, at first, everyone was kind of having fun with it, you know? 'Oh, it looks like everybody's caught Felicia's clumsiness today!' Stuff like that! But as the day went on, and the mistakes were still being made, everyone started getting really, really angry!"

"Oh, gods."

Felicia nodded. "I know, right? Even Jakob was slipping up in ways that he shouldn't have!"

"Jakob?!"

"Yeah! And you know how mean Jakob can be, even when things are going exactly as planned?"

Ananias nodded. "Yeah?"

"Well, forget about that!" Felicia scoffed. "Today, he was WAY worse! Like, he was yelling at everybody! He even looked at himself in the mirror to chew himself out whenever he made a mistake!"

"That… that doesn't sound sane," Ananias quietly commented.

"It didn't LOOK sane either!" Felicia admitted. "And when other people saw that even Jakob was messing things up, and whenever he lectured them about messing up, they'd fire back that he wasn't any better today either!"

"Oh gods. That sounds completely chaotic."

"It was. It got the point where Lord Xander ordered everyone in the entire staff to take the rest of the day off!"

Ananias breathed in nervously. "That serious, huh?"

Felicia nodded. "Uh-huh." She then bowed her head, deep in thought for a moment, before asking, "D-Do you think that maybe, just maybe, it's sort of my responsibility to be the clumsy maid around here?"

Ananias shook his head. "No, of course not. That's silly. That's like saying that it's a murderer's responsibility to kill people. People have free will, Felicia. We can choose to be whatever we want to be."

"Yeah, I guess you're right." Felicia then had a determined look on her face. "And I choose to be the clumsy maid that this place so desperately needs!"

"Felicia -"

"No, think about it, Ananias! With everything going on so far, we can't afford to have so many people making all of these mistakes, and we definitely can't afford having everyone be angry at each other for no good reason! In order to restore order… I have to be the clumsy maid that everyone knows me for!"

"Yeah, but… what about wanting to be the best maid you can be? You shouldn't have to throw that all away just because a lot of people couldn't cope with your sudden change."

"Maybe," Felicia said with a small smile on her face. "But thanks to you, I know that I can definitely do it if I ever wanted to, but for now," she pumped up her fists playfully, "being the clumsy maid of the castle is the burden I have to bear! And who knows? Maybe after all of this is over, I can go back to being the perfect maid. At least, once we can afford to wait for everyone to finally be able to adjust, that is."

Ananias sighed. "I guess." He gave her a cautious and apprehensive look. "You sure about this?"

Felicia nodded. "Positive." She gave Ananias a hug. "Thank you, Ananias. For everything. Because of you, I can probably be the clumsy maid with my head held a little bit higher than I used to."

Ananias let out an amused chuckle. "You're welcome, but I doubt you'd want to do that in front of Jakob. He'd chew you out if you did."

Felicia giggled. "Of course." She then stood up. "Well, better get started on breaking some of those plates, huh?"

"Sure, but can you at least try to break a few less plates than you used to?"

Felicia winked playfully at him. "I make no promises!"
